E P I C!!! I'm addicted to this game for real.😍🔥😍🔥😍🔥😍
I hope it won't influence me to vanquish my family 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
give this game to any homophobic and they will 100% be questioning their sexuality by the end of a session.
I am straight but DAMN
8.5/10
The combat loop of this game is insanely addictive on its own, but the world and story are awesome to explore and experience as well. I'd love to see a follow up to this absolute masterpiece.
its been 3 hours and i've already got all the weapons
they're all amazing!!
AND IT ONLY FELT HALF AN HOUR!!
nice game. Interesting way the creators made the game. even though you kind of do the same thing over and over, it does not feel repetitive but i wonder for how long...
I really like the way this game is set up, Simple Rouge like action. Beautiful game levels, and great controls. Also i really enjoy the conversations the prince has with his father, and how the game keeps challenging me. Never a boring moment. The only thing I hate about this game is that damn fury "Meg"!!!
Never player a game like it. the game mechanics makes things interested each escape attempt and the characters are familiar but with such interesting stories.
I liked Bastion and Transistor a lot. It saddens me to write a negative review for a Supergiant Game, especially since everybody and his cat seem to like it.
The art and music are outstanding, the rest was not my cup of tea.
Style
The game is all style 11/10 I'll give it that.
Music
Awesome as always.
Story
If you know Greek mythology you know 90% of the story.
No character development.
No surprises. I actually expected to fight the olympians in the end.
Core gameplay loop
Too much grind for my taste.
I don't like the fight mechanics.
- There are just 2 attacks, 1 limited super attack, 1 dash. There are no combos or anything deep.
- I don't like the twitch based bullet strom nature of the fight mechanics.
The enemies are HP sponges. (You can compensate this by grinding your stats, of course ).
The extensive content people talk about is a reskin or mod of existing content - which is fine, if you like the fight mechanics.
Summary
Do you like Rogue-lite Rogue-likes?
Do you like fighting the same 4 bosses again and again with slight changes in mechanics?
Do you like clearing the same 4 areas again and again with slight changes to enemies?
Is it ok for you if one bad fight can ruin your 30-40 minute game?
Are you able to learn mechanics and execute flawlessly for 30 minutes?
If you can answer yes to all of the questions this game might be something for you.
Otherwise please check a gameplay video first and evaluate if this game is something for you.
A roguelike becoming the first video game ever to win a literary award absolutely demands your attention. A true masterpiece of gaming.
Good game if you like/are new to roguelikes
Really fun mechanics and variety, but obviously gets the drawbacks of roguelikes (aka very repeatative after a certain number of escapes)
Add the attractive graphics and stellar musical score, and it's easy to see why Hades is both a critical and a commercial success.
This game is full of pretty men I wish to smooch. I just wish it would stop killing me.
Heartily recommended at regular price, but if you get a sale, all the better.
I like that this is a constant battle to move on and that when you die you keep all the things you earned as you got that far. Compared to, for example, Bloodborne where you lose everything from dying.
This is prob my favorite game, #1 in my top 10.
I love this game, the style, the art, the writing.
The gameplay is so fun and I never get bored of it.
Very interesting characters, some which you'll fall in love with!
"Zagreus, if you do not turn back now, I will have to make you go back the painful way..."
"The painful way it is..."
so much fun and had a great story. once you start to understand the rng rules too, then it's a whole new game
Even though I only played this game for more than a few hours at the time of writing this review, its more than enough to say that this game is absolutely astonishing.
The game design is honestly something I haven't ever seen before. In this game, you have to die to progress, but you don't die intentionally. You fight through the Underworld collecting stuff that makes you stronger on your way. When you inevitably die, you respawn back in the house of Hades and make yourself stronger and then do it again. But there's an issue with this kind of gameplay. It gets boring. Fast. But Supergiant had a work around this. As you are going through the Underworld, the Gods of Olympus give you tributes to assist you. Each of these tribute are unique in their own right, and you can get multiple tributes from multiple gods. Zeus provides a chain lightning affect on your attacks, Ares gives you a bleeding affect on attacks, Aphrodite gives you an attack buff that weakens enemies, there is so much diversity you can find the best tributes for you to suit your playstyle.
Next, the aesthetics of the game. The artwork, the story, the characters, it's all so good, and Supergiant really did do their research when it comes to the story. In the game, you can find little points where it will tell a bit about the story and all of what I've seen is all accurate down to the core. They made an amazing original story using an already amazing pre-established narrative. The artwork is phenomenal. All the Gods are perfectly designed for the characters they represent. Hades looks like an actual lord of the Underworld instead of some human who looks like a rich asshole. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, PERCY JACKSON AND THE LIGHNING THIEF).
This game is awesome. Worth the 20 dollars. Honestly, worth 40 dollars. The game is THAT good.
Just two 5-10 second freezes on Deck and it recovered on its own. Playing with a controller is much better than m+k
I honestly don't usually like games like this at all, but this game is just so damn good in every aspect. The controls are fluid and intuitive, everything feels natural. The themes, style, artwork, music, everything just feels so cohesive and right. It's very rare that I ever feel like a game is just simply good in every way and this really nails the mark. I don't have to invest more time than I want into the game to feel like I'm making progress and it's just easy for me to pickup and continue with a busy adult lifestyle. Unraveling the story over time has been fascinating as well, showing it's much more than just a hack n slash.
I've spent more time playing this than almost anything else and I can't recommend it enough. Not only does it have that addictive "let me try just one more time" gameplay that's a signature of any good roguelike, but on top of that it's got some of the best writing and character work of any game in any genre. A good variance of weapons that alter gameplay, mechanics to incentivize taking in all the lore and trying all the options, and amazing music on top of it all.
This game is hot, every character is hot, gameplay is hot, voiceacting? Hot. Graphics? Hotter than hell. Goddamn this game is so hot.

worth my life
I have played Hades for 70 hours and got all the achievements, and I can comfortably say Hades is the best rogue-like on the market right now. Every single characteristic of the game falls into place; the story, the meta-progression, build variety, weapon variety, enemy and setting variety, the game keeps surprising you!
It's impressive how much story and dialogue this game has for it not to get old after a certain amount of deaths. Every time you die, the characters around you have something new to say or unveil, or even give you some hints toward a quest or a new unlock. There's plenty of weapons to unlock and level up (which you can do by defeating bosses), quests to do, and challenges to unlock.
Just when you thought you've seen all aspects of the game, the game introduces another aspect that can improve your gameplay or general feel of the game.
The soundtrack is also superb (Darren Korb puts out one masterpiece after another)!
I have no faults with this game and I can comfortably give it a 10/10! The story and its characters are amazing, and it's nice to see plenty of characters have meaningful story arcs. Give it a go, whether you finish a run once, 10 times, or whatever it takes to see everything, you will not be disappointed!
yo i played till 6 am and i bought this game at 10 because of the story and this game and i didn't get bored at all
Considering the cost vs what you get, buy with your eyes closed, period. Better yet, wait for a sale and maximize return value.
Good graphics, mechanics and replay value. Nice mature humor. Got really hooked till the 1st escape, but lost interest quickly after that. Regardless, replay value is there and will likely be playing it sporadically. Good to have on your library to kill some time if need be.
You will be pleasantly surprised.
Phenominally good fun! Super simple mechanics but compelling reasons to keep coming back to repeat the challenge of, escaping HADES!
I picked this game up for sale thinking I'd get 40 hours max out of it. 200 some hours later, I feel like I definitely got my moneys worth. I was and am still blown away at the amount of voice acting that's in this game. I'm usually not into rogue-lites but this one goes above and beyond.
I'm a big fan of Greek mythology and this hits all the right spots in my opinion. subtle story and some challenging fights
Very good game for a great price. If you like the genre! The game play is pretty unique with the dying aspect. Great animation style and very rewarding game play.
game of the year a classic if you like roguelikes or this style of top down combat. if you havent tried that style of combat then this will be the perfect introduction
Hades is a fantastic action Roguelike in all relevant aspects. Unlike any other Roguelike I've played, it also has a great story that keeps you playing even when the combat otherwise would have gotten too repetitive to want to continue (Like, ~30 hours in). [Edit: it's also fully voice acted, fantastically, which they absolutely didn't need to do, but they did.]
The music is great, the art style is great, the combat feels good, the customizeability for various build strategies are numerous and well-balanced.
I avoided buying this for a long time because I was afraid of it being overhyped and I would be disappointed. I wasn't.
Edit: I have completed the main storyline. I can now confidently give it a 10/10.
This game genuinely got me into rogue-like/rogue-lite games.
It's an incredible game, the gameplay is interesting and honestly keeps me excited to play every time.
The plot is super interesting, and I must say I find myself playing often so I can learn more of the plot and more about the characters! (Playing when I should be studying or sleeping... lol)
There's a ton of humour thrown in, as well as really likeable characters (even if they are mean)
Finally, the art design of this game is incredibly beautiful. From the character design to even small details within the chambers of the game.
Overall, this game hits all my boxes of what a good game should be. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, regardless of whether you've played a rogue-like before or not, since it's a really good game to get you started in this genre.
The BEST ROGUE-LITE GAME EVER!!! After a bunch of recommendations on this, and getting fed up from rogue lite games like returnal, friends told me that this game aint nothing like returnal and i MUST play Hades.
And boy they were right, this is one of the BEST games that you can ever play ever! With so much replayabilaty and upgrades to do even after you roll the credits, just shows how such a passionate and small team can make such a Great game than any AAA out there. Overall this is a must buy and must play! even if it might be difficult in the begging , trust me it gets extremely easy at some point you even disable the god mode option. And even when it gets too repetitive Just continue till you get to the very end where youre at the ending and watch how amazing the devs created this story and universe. 9/10 The king of rogue-lite games!!!
This game is totally worth the hype - stunning visuals, meaty combat and a random assortment of challenges. Loving this and definitely on my new favorites list and weekly rotation
what a game my lad I still in disbelive that I have actually truly did finish this game and saw its true ending i dont know what can i say that has not been said yet i feel like a changed men yet so empty at the same time that I bid ware fell to a game that has been part of my live as long as this game did and dont know what to do afterwards i am truly thankful and appriciate that i got to experience this game and i wish a good live to every one who worked on this and had a passing role in its mastery i kind of feel guilty for buying this on sale since i wish i could give more money to it which is a weird thing for me to feel considering i am stingy bitch i feel be on the look out for any game done by this grooup from now on
sincerly a new fan
Beautiful music, beautiful art, very well balanced gameplay, story resolves in a very satisfactory way. There's a tremendous amount of voice work in here, I was quite surprised to get new VO lines from a given character the 10th, 20th, 30th time I spoke to them. Very impressive work.
Spectacular game in all regards. Gameplay, level design, art, sound, music, narrative, and my god the characters... their designs, their dialogues, their voice acting, all sublime. Hades has polished all of its features to create a fast-paced action game that is a joy to play over and over, almost addictive if it really clicks for you.
I'm not fond of the "star over again" style of rogue-likes, but Hades handles this incredibly well. During the first half of the game, each attempt has something new for you to discover, both in the run itself as well as when you come back home, and it makes you wonder what's going to be different this time around, aside from the ever-present present goal of getting as far as you can. This makes the repetition process not that repetitive at all.
On top of that, Hades is a rogue-lite, and each attempt, successful or otherwise, get you resources to become stronger and make it easier to get further on future runs. This makes the game much more accessible and easy to digest than traditional rogue-likes where all progress is lost.
Overall, outstanding game if you're into action. Worth your time and money if you're even remotely interested.

if only we could all spend our time running around killing monsters with one tit free to the air. godspeed my king
Best Rougelite around (except for Returnal perhaps). The story keeps you invested. Even if you fail an attempt, you don't feel too bad about it since you're eager to continue the story at the hub and spend resources.
This game should be bundled with Steam Deck. I cannot express the delight how well the game plays with it. It is like a book with the ease of picking up, playing a few rooms and switching the context to whatever you were waiting on.
Its well made, catchy, fun. I don't have anything bad to say, really.
Short version: This is an RNG-heavy (occasional bullet hell) button-masher grindfest with bad writing.
I loved the idea of Bastion but hated the execution, so I was leery of Hades when it first came out. Even so, it received a ton of awards and a lot of my friends played it and liked it, so when it came on sale I checked it out.
I've played it for a bit now (14.5 hours) and I can say that this game is definitely not for me. I started feeling this way around 1 hour in; now I am certain.
Your success or failure in this game depends somewhat on the choices you make: which weapon and charm you select at the beginning of a run; which power-ups (boons) you select as you go through your run; which room you choose to go to as you navigate the maze of the underworld. These choices will help determine how well you do: if you're at low health, for instance, taking the room with the health upgrade is usually a wiser choice than taking the room that will upgrade your weapon again.
Unfortunately, what determines your success or failure even more than the choices you make is the choices you are offered. Most upgrade opportunities offer you a choice of three power-ups. If you get the right combination of power-ups in the early stages of a run, you can be unstoppable. If you don't get a good combination, well, the game will be very punishing. If you don't get a broken combination then you won't complete a run -- and there isn't really much reason to do anything but suicide.
Unless, that is, you are interested in grinding for different kinds of currency that you can use to level up your character between runs. When I quit I think I had counted eight different kinds of currency, with one additional currency you only use while running. You use these gems, diamonds, blood, whatever, to upgrade your father's palace or upgrade yourself or upgrade your items or trade with people for power-ups or trade with a broker for other currency. It's a thinly disguised boring crafting section to keep you moving forward on runs that you know (once you don't get a broken power-up right away) will be short and disappointing. If you enjoy button-mashing through repetitive levels until you inevitably die, then this grindfest may work for you. I do not enjoy wanting to just suicide my character after the third stage in 70% of my runs.
Back to the upgrades. Many of the upgrades to the palace are just cosmetic, as far as I can tell, and I was never given any good reason to delve deeply into that section because I hate crafting and don't care about cosmetics in most games. The upgrades to yourself and your weapons are significant once you spend enough time on the game, but they will not solve the issue of bad power-ups found during a run. RNG is the true god of this game.
Because I criticized the writing in my TL;DR I suppose I should mention it here: the writing is repetitive, dull, predictable, and pointless. Whatever "plot" exists in this game is so far removed from the gameplay itself that it shouldn't even exist. I tried to read the forced text (you must click through text before many power-ups) for the first few hours, but after that I just spammed the A button to get through it as quickly as possible. This studio should fire their writers and hire better ones.
Played it 100+ hours on a Switch and will play a hundred more on PC. Cross-save is a huge deal, and the game never gets boring. Hanging out with Zagreus always cheers me up
This game saved my life.
I am 30.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide.
After learning of the severity of my self-inflicted damage, I was borderline suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man with no history of depression or anxiety. I have never had fits of rage, or been one to break down and cry, but I was in a low spot that just really buried me from being able to see the light on the other side.
Having nothing better to do, I searched for a game I could play, ONE HANDED while I recovered. I somehow stumbled upon this game and read some of the reviews. I decided that it had to be worth a shot... I must admit, I didn't beat the game, or play nearly as long as some of you. In fact, I may have only played this game a day or two.. With that being said, after doing so, I had a new found joy and hope for life. I was able to put behind me the pain and suffering that had been cast over me. I was able to experience other peoples joy and happiness. I was able to see the fruits of my "labor". I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ing minutes to this music long enough to realize that I was going to be okay.
After coming to that realization, I turned the game off, and I went back to work. It hurt my hand like hell but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so damn sorry for myself, and I became the father I needed to be in that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving as.
Today, I am close friend with my kids mother. We don't fight, or argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents, and friends.
I now have 3 kids. My third child is, wait for it, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my own separation, and we just stumbled in to each others life unexpectedly. We have been in a relationship for a year now, and are very happy together.
Moral of the story, you never know what life holds in store for you, and if I would have given up when all the odds were stacked against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
Hades has opened me up to a whole new genre of games. From its addicting gameplay, to its interesting and complex characters. I think that Hades is DEFINITELY getting added to my favorites of all time List.
The game is good, nothing more to say. It's also funny and charming at times. If you like action focused rogue-lites and/or other games from this dev you'll like this one most likely as well.
My biggest gripe is that the "REAL" ending is locked behind endless hours of grinding and random luck. So, I give up. Playing games endlessly and making each run artifically harder is just not for me. Already spent enough time on it.
Fun gameplay and amazing story. The plot takes place in hell but when I'm playing, it feels like heaven.
Me: A Chinese national expecting an exotic (exotic for me, that is) experience about Greek mythology
Game: Behold the aspect of Guan Yu!
LOL
Super godlike. Not only is the actual combat game play excellent, but the effort that went into the out of combat aspects is amazing, far above and beyond anything I would've expected.
This is a super fun game. I haven't finished it yet but I have been having a ton of fun trying. The dialog is pretty good imo. I have chuckled a lot at some of the things the gods say to you. It has been pretty amusing. If you have the extra cash and just want something to to do for a while this game can fill that need. I don't feel Like I wasted money on this at all.
Rather than a review Ill describe my experience. Started up, got to meg, died 3 times then won. Cleared snake.
Got to the next area and the enemies became tanky, died a bunch to this area. finally got to the final area but would still die half the time getting there on further runs, some bosses just spammed attacks all over the screen making it hard to tell how to dodge. Got to the last boss where i was spamming attacks for what felt like forever doing next to no damage. Turned on god mode because I had stopped caring about the gameplay from having to repeat the same areas over and over again. still died a bunch, so died on purpose to get my defence up to max. Beat the final boss only to find out I had to do this same thing a bunch more, to get the ending. Walked away dissatisfied with its overly drawn out gameplay and story.
Had alot of fun playing but I would say that the upgrades that you get from the Mirror of Night remove any sort of challenge that the game had to offer, so if you are looking for a "hard action roguelike" this isn't it. Everything else like story, visuals, music and gameplay is nailed to perfection.
Fun game, once you understand the mechanics, and how to "build" the right runs. Spend resources early in the game, unlocking things is more important than upgrading things, would be my one piece of advice.
It is amazing. Go buy it. I've never been such a big fan of roguelikes but this one takes the cake in terms of content, slow progression and story telling in a way that didn't make it feel like a drag to restart the runs. Combat is so polished, fun and most importantly, FAIR. I feel like what puts me off from roguelikes is that sometimes you get so many bs deaths or levels are hard just because. This game is not like that and rewards you every step of the way. 10/10 a MUST have
Story very well delivered ,and the game is a never ending fun. i knew i wont regret buying this one.
Tem essas 80 hora de game e até agora tem diálogo único acontecendo, o tempo e carinho que deram pra aprofundar cada personagem é realmente admirável.
An incredibly well-polished take on rogue-like games. The writing, the art, the music, the gameplay, the synergies between the various boons, the crazy amount of content, this game has it all. Supergiant outdid themselves on this one.

The character art for this game is fantastic and I love that everything is voice acted and done so well. Also can't hate a game that rewards you for getting killed, at least with story progress. It makes the process of doing the same thing on repeat much more palatable.
it's fun when you don't DIE DUE TO DODGING 0.9999999 NANOSECONDS TOO EARLY AND ALSO THE LAVA AREA IS SO ANNOYING IT MAKES ME WANT TO RIP MY
A truly fantastic game. Everything about it shines beginning to end. Fantastic and engaging combat, hilarious writing, gorgeous art, and a KILLER soundtrack. If you are into this style of games, pick it up and you won't be disappointed.
This game is very hard to put down. its very simple and somewhat repetitive but somehow it makes you wanna play over and over to get stronger. the weapons are cool with a bunch of variety. great music. definitely give it a shot.
I like this game so much, that I've beaten it on another platform and bought it on Steam again to beat it again.
One of the best games in recent years.
Really just a very fun game with a lot of strategic/tactical depth and fantastic art/sound/voice direction/design.
Hades is my first experience with rogue-like games, and i loved every minute of it. The gameplay will make your heart pump like a pigeon's even after dozens of hours: it's fast-paced, hard-to-master(but you can get along just fine with a minimum of effort), and very rewarding.
Having said that, the story is the main advantage of this game, for me. It's captivating, and it supplements the gameplay very well. After a long session of ass kicking through the depths of the underworld, i always look forward to speaking to the different characters, get their thought of the current events of the story, to see how the story develops and so on. 10/10
Search up the ratings and if you buy the game dont skip any of the text and dialouge because you will most often never see the same dialogue again.
Pretty good. I recommend you figure out how to finish the game/achievements before you put 100+ hours in.
Fun roguelike with lots of different ways to play ,and a good postgame after its already good main game. Great voice acting too, with a pretty hand-drawn artstyle If you like roguelikes you'll like it for sure.
The art style, combat and story are all on vivid display here.
After over 90 hours on this game I feel like the story is just getting started. Don't get discouraged when you die, die, and die some more because when the light switch turns on; the pay off will be worth it.
I highly recommend this game and hat's off to the developers.
Cheers.
Very very fun. I'm a shooter games kinda guy, but I never expected a rogue like to be super fun and compelling. 100/100 would recommend
I don't even like this kind games normally, but this one is just so well made I couldn't help but enjoy it to the fullest. A real gem!
This game is overwhelmingly great. But don't take my word for it. Check the ratings other people have left. If you're looking for a fast paced hack and slash then this game is for you. To me you can't get enough of this game. The game is split into regions and you go through each region by different access doors. Each room has things to kill and each region have different kinds of enemies. The region is supposed to get progressively difficult but you get special abilities from Olympic allies. You also can select from other less important things. There are different kinds of dialogues that you encounter and each is different from each npc. There's a lot of this, but it isn't same as rpg dialogue, that I think, is superfluous. The chat in this game is quick-witted, short, and objective. There is so much different dialogue that you don't have to worry about the same things being said twice. Yes, the four regions don't change but the conversations, and the different kinds of rooms keeps the game high octane. Once you complete all regions and get to the final encounter, you keep getting new things to work for. And you keep completing all regions for more things to add to your character, whose name by the way is Zagreus. There's no shortage of content. Just dive in and see for yourself. Bored of RPGs? Bored of narratives? Play this game. The game plays a bit like an RPG where you build and customize your character. But don't lose out of a story that has a premise. Either. Get out of hell while you can. It takes the help of the Gods to do it, and your reflex, your awareness, and your thirst for hacking through those shades
Excellent fast paced game that never ends. An epic ongoing dungeon crawler leaving more and more to unlock and discover as you build relationships while trying to escape the inescapable. Wonderful soundtrack, beautiful characters, all around awesome game!
Very nice graphics, the characters have a good bit of personality to each of them and the gameplay is phenomenal
I never play roguelikes or hack and slash games, but this... This is a masterpiece. One of the most complete games i have ever played - visuals, sound, characters u meet, area design - everything is simply amazing.
Even thought the game is fairly short (took me about 12 hours to complete on hell mode) - the replayability potential is huge. If u like the game, you will spend at least 50-60 hours experimenting with different builds and unlocking various story elements.
Last but not least - character controls - which are very responsive and fully customizable and feel great.
So basically - get the game - this one is a definition of what games should be like.
Wasn't sure I'd like this game, boy was I wrong. This game is amazing. All the reviews are accurate. Buy this, play it if you haven't.
Phenomenal gameplay, and the story is just incredible, i guarantee you will have fun playing it
10/10
Once u start playing it is impossible to stop. Highly addictive. Immediately became one of my fav games.
Soundtrack: brilliant (10/10).
Art design: eye pleasing (10/10).
Gameplay: smooth (10/10).
Good game, lots of replay value!
Absolutely amazing! Never played this time of game before and would recommend everyone to try this game out.
Quick and very dynamic game. At first I thought of it as another slicer, but in fact it has more to it (plot, some reading, references to Greek myths). Enjoyed color scheme, too!
Greatly recommended
One of the best roguelikes in recent years, if not the best ever
Banging soundtrack, compelling story, fluid gameplay.
top 3 games of all time pretty good 2/10
Fantastic game. I'm not the biggest fan of rogue-likes, and I HATE permadeath mechanics, but honestly they made it so your efforts aren't all for naught. Yes, if you die at the last stage of the game after a 48-minute run, you have to start all over and you lose all your buffs. BUT--you gain damage resistance if you play in God Mode, and you can slowly amass passive buffs RPG-style as you go. Plus, no two runs are exactly the same.
Beautiful aesthetic, soundtrack, and easy on the GPU to boot. And the voice acting? Man, elite. I love good voice acting and they knocked it out of the park.
It's fun. The voice actors are top notch. The weapons give various combat styles. I enjoyed it.
Finally played this game after owning it for a while...
*6 hours later*
Holy shit this game is amazing!
The moment Mr.Hades said "It's Hadesing time!" was truly the most indie game moment of all time.
Good gameplay
Good voice acting & music
Good art
Good price (too low for a game of this quality...most triple A games aren't as fun for the price paid)
Good replayability (roguelike/roguelite huh)
I don't review much but when i do it's usually a good game I'd recommend to my friends. This is the roguelite game I've been waiting for. Learning curve is ok and a new run doesn't feel like you start completely from scratch with the upgrades you can get through the mirror.
163h played as the time I'm writing this. Atm I am grinding for my last steam achievement and I will prolly try those fresh save speedruns after that...Still so much stuffs to do for the price...Just get it..
One of the most entertaining games I've ever played. The mechanics and the story are just perfect.
Last time I stop playing this game because I got waist pain.
Two years later, I pick this game up. I am gonna stop probably because I broken my space key?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
One of the best rogue-lites out there, excellent art style, funny writing, fun gameplay loop, tough as nails in the end.
This game was made brilliantly for replay value. I should probably be upset how many times you have to beat the game in order to get the full story but the gameplay is vastly different every time you go in.
Absurdly good, play it.
I adore this game. Legit one of my favourite games of all time. The gameplay feels great (both with mouse-keyboard combo and a controller), the art is stunning, the soundtrack is out of this world... It's also a genuinely interesting take on the myth of Hades and Persephone; a real breath of fresh air among all the other adaptations. Plus everyone here is hot, lol. And you can pet the dog!
It takes a bit to defeat [Redacted] for the first time, but once you get that ball rolling, you'll be making a lot of progress. It does take quite a few runs to finish the main story, but there are so many different weapons, aspects, trinkets and boon combinations that it never really gets boring, since you have so much to try out. Definitely worth the money. Maybe even worth more than the current price, to be perfectly honest.
this game is ridiculously fun, a bit hard at first when you're just starting to play to get used to the mechanics but i could dump 300 hours in this easily. The replay value is high, a real 'bang for your buck' kinda purchase.
Yes. This game is really good just like all the other rouge-likes I've reviewed. It has really great story which keeps you engaged. I also recommend useing god mode if you struggle as it makes the game slighty easier and its really all about the story anyway. I dont have much hours in this game because ive been busy playing dead cell.
One of the best games I've ever played, the combat, game mechanics, art style, music, and voice acting are all superb. This game has little to no faults and was incredibly fun for every second I played it
Everything is great. The story, the development, the music and the visuals. Chef's kiss. If you want a nice game that doesn't force you to stick to it, but rewards your time, this is the one.
Extremely good game. I actually think I need to avoid roguelikes in the future due to how addicting this game was. "Just one more go," is something I thought a lot while playing this.
At this point I'm certain Supergiant has made deals with Hades and Olympus alike to make a game this good.
it's doom and dark soul combined, and is also a rogue like.
personally i really like rogue like already, but the aspect of dark soul's difficulty got me sold.
also trust me dont give gifts to hades. you will regret it.
Best Percy Jackson Simulator so far, by far, on God(s)
This game was a lot of fun. Everything from dying and completing rounds adds to the story. Even beating the final boss did not mean the story was over. It keeps going seemingly forever. (In a good way forever). There is weapons to unlock as well as special upgrades for weapons, upgrades that change the way your weapons operate. There is just so much to the game to keep you playing. Highly Recommend!.
Not a huge fan of this genre but this game take the cake. 100% going to be worth your time.
By far the most fun I've had in a top down game. Supergiant made another masterpiece of a title.
Very replayable, cool artstyle and great music. This game has everything, including fishing.
Great game, I like it more than most games in the same genre.
The game has never bored me.
Has a great storyline
Very diverse enemies & interactions
Spicy scenes with Meg, thanatos & Dusa
Zagreus is hot.
One of, if not the best roguelite out there. Even though my playtime looks low, i have 190hours on my switch copy. Im doing a second play through on steam, Buy this game; music, story, gameplay, it is all top notch.
fucking banger
+ the enitre cast is very fuckable
Great Game!
Quality is just what you would expect from Super Giant Games.
Great Music, Artstyle, Humor, Gameplay.
It can get a bit repetitive, but the different weapons, boons, and punishment keep it juts fresh enough.
One of the best games i've ever played in my life! 10/10
Each escape attempt can feel vastly different, and that's what I love about it.
For me, this defines the perfect Rogue-like.
Super fun for both veteran and new RougeLike players. Good story also and so many combos you could easily spend 100s of hours playing.
This game is fantastic, assuming you like roguelites, but even if you're only lukewarm on them (like I am). Fans of Greek Mythology will enjoy the fully voice acted greek gods. The different weapons and build combinations run the full gambit from completely useless to wonderfully, synergisticaly OP. My one complaint is that the conditions for the epilogue are frankly ridiculous. You need to raise affinity with certain characters, but the final heart is locked behind quests that don't automatically unlock when you reach that point. So you just have to keep doing runs again and again hoping to get the magic dialogue that means you can START the mission to unlock the final heart. Aside from that, not much hate from me.
Fast slashing game with raising difficulty and roguelike mechanic. Pretty much dying all the time for being stronger over time. I enjoyed my runs and had a lot of fun. Many upgrades and weapon combinations will make every run uniqe :) so go ahead and try it :)
Incredibly well crafted rogue-like dungeon crawler that offers just about everything one could expect from this genre, even to people who usually avoid these types of games.
As rare as it is, the game manages to balance its story as well as gameplay on equally impressive levels, where neither feels like an afterthought or something you'd eventually rather skip.
Starting with the gameplay, adopting the rogue-lite features guarantees some basic accessibility even to the most casual players, as there's countless progression paths each slowly but surely pushing the player further than before, without sacrificing any of those fun and challenging combat mechanics. In fact there's a whole other progressing challenge system tailored to any hardcore player seeking more.
Furthermore the roster of unique, interesting and superbly voice acted characters makes you fully engaged with the story even on your 50th run, a run that just like all the ones before and the ones to follow, plays a surprisingly important role in the game's narrative.
And it's thanks to this overarching narrative and dozens of progression systems, that the game ensures every run you do, no matter how unsuccessful, will contribute to wide variety of things that not only helps you overcome more challenges in your next run, but also further develops the story and its characters to very satisfying ends.
Without even mentioning all the beautiful artwork, character design or soundtrack, all of the mentioned factors easily put the game above most if not all of its competitors.
9.3/10
I thought Bastion was wonderful and I thought Transistor was a masterpiece. Hades is better than both of them. It plays perfectly on the Steam Deck.
Its long game play but fun once you get the hang of the game play. Good Luck.
Absolutely amazing game all around.
Great game. Will attempt a a handful of runs every month. High replay value solid mechanics/story/VA/and nice clean art style.
You can pet the dog. YOU. CAN. PET. THE. DOG. Need I say more? Oh and mommy Nyx
Art style is very detailed and VA is great! Game play was surprisingly addictive too even though you keep dying over and over again.
If my girl👧😍 and my beyblades💯🔥 are both drowning🌊😦 and I could only save one😄☝️you can catch me letting it rip😤 at my girls funeral😅👻💀 cause it's bey blade or catch a fade my nigga🙏👊😠💯😭
sick game some extra bosses would be nice or encounters
Truly a fantastic game.
Hades offers the challenges and replayability of a roguelike with an overarching story that is actually quite good and interesting. It sits high up the list on high-octane fun for sure.
The mechanics of the game are quite sound, and relatively learnable for new players.
Not really a fighter game person (like, I usually play life simulation games), but the combat mechanics for this game are easy enough to learn and the audio/visual experience is so stunning, even if I couldn't get away with button mashing I'd still play & highly recommend
short answer: would recommend. do yourself a favor and buy the game!
to verify somewhat my opinion: i've 100% the steam achievements, did a run on 32 heat (very hard) on the game pass version somehow (yes, i've played on two versions of the game), and have 85 hours at the time of this review.
this game i honestly have no reasonable complaints about, the game is the closest game to perfection i've ever played. the art, the gameplay, the mythology, the characters and the conversations are wonderful. the art you can gawk at. the gameplay is great and fair, i never felt with the gameplay that i lost unfairly, it was always my recklessness. the mythology is interesting and got me really interested in it. the characters are lovable and i always enjoyed talking to them. the conversations are interesting to listen to and i never felt like what zagreus (the main character) was saying in them was something i wouldnt say in his situation, and i never disagreed with him.
this game is polished to a shine, with the only, THE ONLY bug i could find is purely visual (the boons sometimes have this blue outline/highlight on the ring)
BUY AND PLAY THE GAME, UNLESS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU, YOU WILL LIKELY LOVE IT
i hope this review helped with the only decision of buying the game
Incredibly dull combat. I have no idea, literally no idea, how this is rated so highly
Enjoyable and time-consuming. A bit repetetive of course but the story makes up for it.
Please pet Cerberus!
honestly just here for the medussy but glad to see there's an actual good game attached
Took a wrong turn on my fishing trip and now i'm stuck in the underworld.
No need to drag the dog into this, Father!
ive only playewd this game for a bit but its so fun
10/10 theres an achievement for petting cerberus
Warning: this game is addictive, hard to put down, and might take over your life for a while. I'm recommending it like a high schooler recommends a cigarette.
Amazing. The reviews were not wrong!
This game is easily one of the best games I have paid for and it was definitely worth the money!
This is a gem of a game. Nothing ground breaking about it, but the story and superb voice acting gives it a lot of bonus in my book.
The gameplay is not difficult to understand, get a weapon, get random upgrades and get the out of hell, simple enough. It will be frustrating, especially at the beginning but it definitely gets easier on each run. Note: The gameplay is very repetitive, be warned. Enjoyable nonetheless.
The story: Now this is where this game shines. A relatively simple story, very tame considering the references (the Olympian legends were mostly about assholes), but still remains quite faithful to the mythology and ads it's own spin to it that makes it unique.
This user gives it a golden pass. Get it and have fun.
This game is the defination of hard but thats what makes a game fun and thrilling. absouloutely love this game and reccomand to souls-like lovers and metroidvania lovers
You're the son of Hades trying to leave the underworld to join the gods on Olympus because it looks more fun up there. Once the gods discover you're trying to do that, they're more than happy to fire their blessings at you to power you up and make your attacks different and stronger. You'll have to adapt your playstyle based on what you find.
If you fail on your escape attempt (and you will, a lot) you'll be sent back to the underworld to start again, but you keep anything you found along the way so you can upgrade yourself for the next escape attempt. No matter how far you get, you'll usually come back a little stronger.
As you keep hurling yourself at all the monsters and bosses trying to prevent you from leaving, dying and being sent back to the start, you'll uncover more and more story, until you finally escape and learn that... nope, no spoilers for you, play the game and find out.
Great voice acting, great story, great gameplay and incredible replayability. Definitely one to buy for anyone who is a fan of the genre.
Love Supergiant and ave all their games and soundtracks. The thing is i cannot save the game, how a big problem like this can happen? so dissapointed. I played more than 4 hours when i got it and before realize the problem, so i cannot get a refund... A game like this cannot have this type of problem!
First rogue like ive played, super fun
This game is really fast paced, it rewards when you dash all across the room, which is really fun to do and not that hard. The lore is entertaining and the voiceacting is nice to have :)
Now I get why people keep raving on and on about this game.
Hades is the best take on the roguelite (or, optionally, roguelike). Dying does not feel frustrating, the characters are funny, the story actually exists... I mean, what is there not to love?
I simultaneously wish I'd played it sooner and also wish that I could experience it all again from the start.
Every character makes me horny and I don't like it
Also, stan Aspect of Hera in the Coronacht
Really fucking fun and thematic. 10/10
I'm not much of a roguelike player, but this game is perfect if you don't consider yourself one. Yes, you go through the dungeons until youre able to beat the whole game, and have to restart if you die. But every time you die, it feels like a new story tidbit is unlocked, a new ability, a new upgrade. It always feels like youre making progress.
its a really fun game to get back to every once in a while but its also very bingeable
Heard of this game for a year but I didn't try it back then. This game is just amazing in every way. I think the best aspect of the game for me is the characters. They got the personality for each character so right. I have so much fun just listen to them talk (nice voice acting btw). You also get to develop your relationship with some of these characters too.
I almost wish this game was a full 60USD roguelike-rpg with more dungeons, companions, gears, skills and so on.....
gonna risk a controversial take here and say this game is called Hades
i didint enjoy it so im refunding but its a ducking good game you should play it if you have nothing to play
This game saved my life.
Thank you
Fun and quick without being repetitive.
Game is very fun with an awesome amount of fun dialog. Play with a controller.
If you are reading this you must buy the game, and that's an order!
The first game I buyed in my life. That says something about how good it is.....
Escape from Hell only to die again, just like irl
Got it on sale and wanted to see what the fuss was about. Limited weapons get boring fast, story isn't anything new, and maxing out your character happens pretty fast. There is much better games in this genre. Its not that its a bad game, its that you have far more options that are much better with original stories. And that's why i cant recommend this.
You can pet Cerberus, give him treats and buy him toys. Do you really need another reason?
This is so amazing! If you just need one of those games you can play under one hour this comes in there. It just plays the right amount you want and it is amazing. And the more you play the more you learn, which is just great!!!
This is easily one of the best games I've ever played. I've never played a Roguelike before, and I went from not understanding the genre to recommending this game to anyone who will listen.
It doesn't even feel like a game as much as a fantastic story that you're able to participate in.
The levels are designed in a way that the gameplay feels smart and intuitive as you move about the space. The levels aren't designed to punish you, so you're allowed to be good at the game. The music is phenomenal. The variety in the different areas is fantastic. You always feel like you're in the underworld, yet clearly into separate realms. The Gods feel like family members that you see once a year and forget that you miss until you see them next. They're flawed, relatable, and spite only lasts through the encounter.
In a day and age where developers cut corners and always have the next battlepass or DLC in their crosshairs, this game is an amazing exception.
I'm rambling....I just sat down to play Hades and now I'm writing about it.
This game is worth your time, please try it. You deserve it.
WOW!
This game is incredible. From the visuals to the sound, everything fits in perfectly, and don't let me get started on Zeus' voice(!). This game is always worth it, even full price, but on sale... its a MUST-HAVE. I'm not someone who's into greek mythology, but this game makes it pretty interesting. And the fact that it's a roguelite (my favorite gaming genre) just hits the spot perfectly. 10/10, best game I've ever played.
It really deserves it's awards.
One of the best games ever.
This game does everything right. Even if you are not too big into the genre, you will probably love it.
One... More... Run...
Hades is a lil kid to me now
Quite literally one of my favorite games ever. Not usually into rougelikes, but something about this game was like crack for me. Highly recommend.
I would always recommend this game.
Zagreus's thighs, Got me actin unwise
Fantastic game. Rogue likes are not usually known for their story, but this one is compelling enough to keep you pushing towards the latter half of the playthrough. Highly recommended if purchased on sale, but even full price is well worth it.
Gameplay always felt crisp, responsive, and never felt unfair or "bullshit". Final boss is a tough nut to crack, but once cracked, is fairly easily bested.
Graphics are nice and the art style is very pleasing to the eye. I wish some of the enemy telegraphs for attacks were a little more pronounced, but all in all, if you pay attention, you should be fine.
Music is fantastic, especially the songs sung.
i'm pretty early in, and the game is fluid af and the art style is amazing, but compared to other roguelites like dead cells it seems to have less variety. can't see myself sinking as much time in to Hades as other games but still it's flashy and a ton of fun
good gameplay good soundtrack good timekiller
guod stuff, many ghey, pretty color, much whackem
best game but will be better if it have som update
Amazing game! Got it on sale (14.99 from 24.99). I've had a hard time finding any enjoyment in my games lately and this had me up til 4am feeling like I was 17 again!!!
for the first I was expecting that this game might be the best game for me, as I was expecting this game was good but there's lot of aspect that you need to consider with like background music doesn't change everytime you entering a stage it just keep repeating the same soundtrack that makes you don't want to listen it, dash control using keyboard was also not acurate compared with console or gamepad controller, etc. Overall this game is still worth to buy and recommended if you really like some challenge of how to defeat god with only one weapon
Zagreus is apparently a disgusting degen, and so is this game, though the gameplay is nice, a shame nonetheless.
I didn't think I'd be addicted to this game but here i am
the animation and combat is so satisfying
One of the best roguelikes ive ever played!
It's an ok-ish game, I guess, but definitely overhyped and not a game of the year title. C'mon, let's be realistic here. You get to repeat the game over and over again with VERY LITTLE VARIETY and with not that great combat from my perspective. It might upset you, but that's the game for me.
In the name of Hades, i reviewed this game.
Nothing to say about this masterpiece, excellent!
Buy this game if:
* You like hack-and-slash, dungeon-crawling, rpg elements
* You value an unintrusive plot
* You have an appreciation for voice acting, game design, scripting, and score
Bonus, buy this game if:
* You like Greek Mythology
* You're an Anime fan (if you know you know)
I didn't know what to expect when I purchased this game on Summer Sale '22 but I can tell you, and my friends can attest, that I have yet to put the game down. For me, there's only one other game that has evoked this type of enjoyment - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
If you value the aforementioned and understand the company that I place Hades in, you will not be disappointed with this purchase.
Interesting combat system, but the fixed direction of attacks can be frustrating and have to keep using dash-attack to change direction of attacks when surrounded by enemies; quite hard to hit mobs that stay in corners sometimes. It's feels repetitive after 10+ attempts even though the chamber's layout is random in each replay. Should have the option to skip level to progress faster, unless there aren't that many levels available to play.
I have attempted 20+ times and only went to the second zone Hydra boss; still have a lot of keepsakes and weapon upgrades to unlock, as well as Hades' room. Not sure where to get the diamonds to gain access to the admin chamber...feels stuck already after 9.9hrs of gameplay.
Just buy it, and you won't regret
Is good. Can pet 3-headed doggo. He good boy.
Make sure you call Hades daddy.
this game is like ice cream
you cant find anybody who hates it
Never got bored in this game. Definitely in my top games of all time. The combat and the Music keeps me coming back after I already finished the main story. Awesome game!

One of the most enjoyable games I've played in a while. Amazing art work. Excellent music. Easy to pick up play mechanics.
Another thing I really enjoy, is it isn't pay to win. You buy the game and it is complete, no additional things to buy to improve the experience.
Finally, I like that you can play this game for 5 minutes or 5 hours at a time. Every run is different.
Chaos best girl uwu
is zagreus gay?
10/10
Amazing voice acting, compelling characters, and action packed gameplay
i very much am enjoying this game, 9/10
One of the best games I have ever played with highly addicting gameplay and new material to never stop chasing that goal of escape. I have sunk over 40 hours into this game on Switch and bought it again on Steam its that good. Soundtrack is super good and story seems to never end with mechanics that makes sure there is always something new to see each time you return after a run. A definite must buy no matter what.
One of the best game of all time, easily my favorite. I didn't know I was going to like it as much as I did, but wow! Excellent gameplay, interesting characters (they're all so HOT), great progression, and a FISHING MINI GAME. What more could you want?
Very nice game with excellent soundtrack! Kinda addictive...
If you hate yourself and want something hard to play or you have some daddy issues this would be a cool game for you
This game is seriously so much fun. I was first intrigued because of the art style and the greek mythology concept, so I gave it a try. AND I LOVE IT SO MUCHHH. The actual game play is a lot of fun: button smashing fighting and strategically picking power ups are so fun, with the added bonus of how difficult it unexpectedly is. I'm 8 hours in the game and I haven't even escaped Tartarus or the first boss. So that should tell you how much fun and entertaining it is to play this game without advancing far (either that or I'm just real bad). Also I haven't seen any repeated voice lines, which really adds to it's awesomeness. Speaking of the voice lines, the voice acting is PHENOMENAL. Like I can't express how much of a joy it is to play this game, not only as a greek mythology nerd (YOU CAN PET CERBERUS) but also just as someone who enjoys good games in general. So many good aspects about this game, probably might be my favourite game of all time.
great pacing, easy to pick up and play for an hour, or play for 4 hours
Hands down one of my favorite games ever, cannot recommend it enough. The gameplay is challenging and engaging, the art style is beautiful, and there's actually a compelling story that you never see in games like this. A must play even if you're not a fan of rogue-likes.
One of my favorite games that I own on steam. Almost done unlocking everything and that won't stop me from continuing to play it after I am done.
One hell of a game hyuk hyuk hyuk
Games fun, only been playing for 3 hours and know im going to be playing for more. Definitely recommend anyone into rogue-lites/rogue-likes to give this game at least a look.
Awesome game! It's simple but it can entertain you for multiple hours without breaking a sweat.
Fun, just not for me. Its too repetitive and grindy. The graphics and voice acting is epic though!
I suck at this genre of video games but wow this game is so fun. Highly recommend especially if it's on sale.
I can't really add to anything other's have said about this game. Great fun and insane replayability.
its fun, i was on the fence because i did not really like another game that was similar. I'm glad i took the chance. Its a good game.
Im happy i've found this game. Super fun and challenging gameplay!
What a great game! Great action, awesome characters, maybe could use some more weapons and different fighting styles but still really fun!
Infuriatingly hard, but immensely satisfying. Came for the destruction, stayed for the slowly unfolding story.
Best roguelite made in the past decade.
The first roguelike I've ever enjoyed because dying is integral to advancing the plot and character arcs so it doesn't feel frustrating or like a setback. Zagreus is an awesome protagonist, simultaneously kind and respectful while also being an unrepentant little shit. Great art, amazing soundtrack (it's Supergiant, this is a given), wonderful characters, and a well-done story. The ability to whale on the shades of the Underworld is just a bonus.
