This game is like the second heaven of half life games, first of all, it gives you a whole 'nother perspective of the Black Mesa incident, second, there are new weapons to your disposal, third, there is a whole new soundtrack that keeps me playimg all day, Perfect game!
este juego sucede cuando el ejercito de estados unidos llega a black mesa y el soldado adrian shepard se saca la pija y dice que el half life es real no se nada mas jugue al multijugador con mis amigos muy bueno en fin le doy half life/10
A great Half Life DLC that feels much more like a first person shooters than the others did with a story I hope gets continued at some point down the line.
I like old games so its cool. just quick save a lot but not too much so you dont get stuck in a death loop :/
Seeing the overwhelming amount of love for this game made me buy it. Although it is not awful, it is not as good as everyone seems to make it out to be. Constant bugs getting stuck on things or not moving after an elevator. The number of times I had to reload a save just to continue the game was staggering. The enemies felt more like cannon fodder shoehorned in to pad out the time and make it difficult. The levels felt oddly planned out and didn't make sense. I understand how hard it would be to follow up Half-Life but my god this was not good. I also understand the time it was made as well, but the polish Half-Life had shown the problems with this game are not because of technological limitations but mishandling the IP. Also two weapons for melee? Small nitpick but this didn't make any sense. Lastly, why was the G-Man so prevalent? In Half-Life you barely saw him if you were paying attention, but he is always around for some reason. Yes, we get he is important but less is more. If Steam had a meh rating instead of thumbs up or down, I would've given it the meh hand, but unfortunately, this gets a thumbs down.
This is an excerpt of a longer review available at Metrocop.net
Half-Life: Opposing Force is not exactly a bad game. The expanded arsenal is a fun way to revisit the Half-Life gameplay and there are some good ideas in here, although some are half-baked or just underused. Unfortunately, it’s bogged down by what was, presumably, a rough deadline for an up-and-coming team to get to grips with Valve’s Goldsource engine and release an expansion pack as quickly as possible, leading to what feels like a lot of filler and some sections that could’ve used some polish.
If you love the original Half-Life, Opposing Force is definitely a great way to get more of that experience, but keep in mind it’s nowhere near as groundbreaking or refined as the first game. Go in with lowered expectations and bear with the bugs and annoying friendly AI pathfinding and you’ll find enough to enjoy in this messy but fun expansion.
pretty good game. i love the fact that you're a grunt, you're no different from those violent monsters you saw in hl1. and the game tells you this by making you able to get super powerful gun very early on if you kill a friendly security guard. or when you see a power armor capsule behind a comrade with seemingly no way to reach it but to kill your teammate. i love that kind of environmental story telling!
Its the better of the 2 expansions that actully changes some core rules like not having the crowbar and new weapons along with adding new mechanics and concepts to the first game. 9.5-10 cant wait for a remaster
this is one of the best games I've ever played A GEM in a pool of terrible shooters with the unnecessary aiming down sights mechanic truly a masterpiece.
This game is pretty alright. It adds new weapons that are super fun. The levels aren't the peak of Half-Life but are still fun. Some of them are pretty tedious though. I also don't like the replacement of the flashlight with night vision because it hurts my eyes. Overall a nice expansion. 7/10
Pros: Very immersive single player mode. Doesn't require internet lolol, Has teammates so you don't be lonely like in portal
Cons: Questionable AI..., Multiplayer is mostly dead, Clunky physics
Good expansion pack, offers new and exciting weapons, enemies and challenges, also imo it has a darker tone than HL which makes it really stand out, almost makes it its own game
IN A NUTSHELL: IF YOU LOVE HALF LIFE AND YOU WANT MORE JUST BUY THIS GAME OR BUY A BUNDLE
So you finished half life, by after beating it for the 50th time, you miss when you first start half-life that u played slowplay to speedrunning it [almost], Well opposing force is Half life but you play as the enemy and you try to stop gordon but of course, in half life 1 gordon makes it and you need to save your life, This game is the best game after half life, also if ur bored of opposing force play blue-shift, u can done it on one day or 2 the game is quick and no new guns, pretend it's a mod that u need to escape
Very good old school expansion. I actually prefer this over the original Half Life because I've always felt that HL1 laid out the groundwork for the combat, but just barely elaborated on alot of the concepts of combat and didn't really get to develop them for the player. I'm glad this expansion, while much shorter than the base game, actually has much deeper encounters and has more of a "combat puzzle". There is much less emphasis on downtime in the expansion compared to HL1. Overall it feels very tightly crafted and deep enough and is actually my favorite HL game.
I liked Blue Shift, but this game is MILES better. It's longer, has more creative environments, it actually has some difficulty to it (unlike Blue Shift). The new guns are awesome, except the Desert Eagle, which has the recoil of an AK-47. The new aliens are also interesting, with the exclusion of the laser-shooty things. Randy Bitchford and Gearbox' best game. 9/10
It is by far the worst Half-Life on the Gold Source engine. Uninspiring and held with duct tape, this makes for an infuriating experience, AI is barely able to walk in a straight line, they cannot follow you, they just can't when they, in fact, should, they're not quick enough for level changes so you have to go back and press E on them again, they mindlessly shoot through you and die very quickly, NVG just blinds you, even if it's completely dark, there's way too many weapons that serve no purpose other than annoy you when sorting through the inventory to switch to an actual gun, the grappling barnacle is basically useless and a wasted concept, since you can only grapple to friendlies, enemies and special walls, which's there's very few of, there's a ton of bugs that forced me to noclip out of the spot I was stuck in, music just stops with level changes, which wasn't intended, the last boss fight is an uninspiring chore and a piece of shit sorry excuse for one, the tutorial is the single part where everything clicked, the rest is just a mess. Thankfully now I know to avoid this one for any possible future playthrough.
Really good! Loved the ending too. I recommend this game if you're one day bored or like to play games with both environmental and regular story telling. I won't spoil the rest, but this game takes place just before Gordon goes to Xen and you can actually see him jump into the portal right before you can stop him. But anyways, this game is great!
this made me oppose a force out of my ccolon
Sometimes I forget this is a expansion pack because of how much new stuff it adds to the world of half life.
Dr. Breen? A chump. In this game you play has Dr. Green and you see only the color green. You must shoot people with green blood and sometimes people with red blood (not green)
Green vision/10. Very fun.
SIR! gordon peeman approves SIR!
I killed 12 dumbass scientists and not one of 'em fought back, this game sucks
VERI GUD GEJM GO PEWPEWPEWPEWPEWPEW, BOOOM BOOOOOOOM! BANG BANG BANG BANG STUTUTUTUTUTUTUTUTUTU, RATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA, KABOOOOM BANG BANG BANG, RATATATATATATATATATATAA, PEWPEWPEW, WUSHH, BOOM BOOM
Boom boom hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah my walls are speaking
wouldve loved this shit if the sewers werent fucking broken
also i
after i play this game i become based best game expasion 10/10 (sorry bad english)
Its really cheap and a fun game if you want more Half Life.
Definitetly a must-buy! Adds so many new weapons, enemies and mechanics! I'm daring to say that many things are better than the original (especially the pacing of the game). Of course, this game would make no sense without the original and not everything is better (for example, I prefer bosses in the first game). But overall, if you have played the first game, you definitetly have to try this one!
If all expansions and dlc were like Opposing Force, Halo 3 ODST and Episodes from Liberty City, the world would be a better place.
A proper successor to the fire HalfLife.
Tried to save every troop I could.
I loved it when Shephard said "GORDON FREEMAN'S ASS" and won the lawsuit against the G-Man
Best Half Life expansion! I love the Race X aliens!
I played through it on my android, it was enjoyable
This game makes me so mad, I am now bald from ripping my hair out.
fun DLC for HL1, just make sure you use raw mouse input!
The best Half-Life expansion hands down. The new weapons are all good and there are actually a decent amount of new enemies too. It's too bad Shepard hasn't had any real role in any of the games since.
a perfect expansion of a perfect game. Recommended.
opposing force 2 should've came out
best half life game if ill be honnest
Half Life, but Full Metal Jacket. Honestly had just as much fun playing this as the base game.
half life but you play as the SAS of counter strike
Great minus the absolutely terrible sewer section in Foxtrot. The black ops vs. alien gun fights are sick
I feel like I just joined the military.
help!!! everytime i die, it send me to the begining of half life!! also in the half life begining all the scientists are running around and the game is broken!!! does anyone know how to fix this????
Had a good time up until the end, I still recommend it for the beginning and mid game. lot of content in an expansion to the original.
Im not even joking this is one of my favorite games of all time, we desperately need a remake.
Brilliant idea with weak execution. The idea of playing one of the soldiers is amazing and the tone of knowing what's coming while being helped by the scientists is unsettling, however you never get to play that role which is disappointing. Perhaps an intro section where you begin the cleanup before transitioning to fighting the Black ops and new alien races. Fellow soldiers were a welcome sight and helped the atmosphere that you weren't just a Gordon copy however the numerous bugs limited this.
Lots of new weapons with some of them being among the best in the series such as the Spore launcher and the displacer cannon. To contrast this, the new alien enemies are pretty poor. Bizarre designs which would have felt more at home as a mod. The worst among them being the pit worm (Blast pit copy) and the final boss which consists of: hitting the awkwardly placed weak spots, dodging attacks which often insta-kill you without armour and sitting in the healing pool before returning to the fight.
This expansion is definitely a worthwhile play with some spectacular ideas, however the application of these ideas led to more than a few issues and reloads to get around bugs. Get it if you see it going cheap but don't expect anything remotely close to the quality of classic Half Life.
it's good, a light 7/10. it's got some pretty cool environments including some from the base game. my only beef is that you aren't really hunting down gordon freeman at all. the only time you see him is when he jumps into the xen portal but if you follow him you get an immediate alternate ending (and die lol). sheppard (you) is basically just tryna survive and it pretty much plays exactly the same as when your're gordon, apart from your sqaud and their abilities; they fight enemies better and a medic can heal you. though, like with gordon, they just really open doors for you. it's literally just half-life in green instead of orange but it's fun. the multiplayer is also just half-life deathmatch with a lil more depth. it's a dope game for 1999 and it's woth playing at least once all the way through. but yeah, light 7.
First expansion of one of the greatest games of all time feels like the original but different in a good way
This game rules! This has to be the best Half-Life 1 based game. Worth the price, but it is a bit hard (but hey, you can watch a walk-through).
Great expansion for half life, the new additions of weapons and mechanics are great fun to mess around with.
SUBJECT: SHEPHARD
STATUS: EVALUATION TERMINATED
POST MORTEM: Subject attempted to create temporal paradox
This game is pretty good but when I was playing it I heard some moaning coming from the other room so I go there and catch my brother watching "those" videos. Although it's a pretty cool game nontheless
This game is a really fun expansion for Half Life that offers new weapons, enemies, and a whole new story with the perspective of the military fighting a new alien race.
I will warn you, however, that you can get stuck in elevator floors. To avoid this, simply jump just before the elevator stops moving.
I would definitely recommend this to fans of the first Half Life.
NOTE: I would recommend that you don't use the HD models for this game. Unlike Half Life and Blue Shift (The latter the models were made for, and I recommend using them specifically for Blue Shift), Opposing Force was not made with the models in mind. This causes certain animations to be bugged and makes some of the characters look bizarre with combinations of low and higher quality heads and bodies.
The Security Guard at the vending machine is the best Half-Life character hands down /srs
absolute pain in the *** , totaly worth it
aiden shiterd also killed everyone
i love this game great stuff but playermodels are weird lol
Hey you wouldn't have a quarter I could borrow, would ya?
HE SAVED HUMANITY IS WHAT HE DID. HE WAS A BRAVE AMERICAN HECU SOLDIER, AND IN THIS HOUSE, ADRIAN SHEPHARD IS A HERO. END OF STORY.
Opposing force is an interesting take on a somewhat more action-focused Half-Life, bringing in a ton of new weapons, new enemies and environments. Unfortunately, it is not lacking in shortcomings too.
Level-design is nowhere near as good as in Half-Life and it seems to constantly recycle concepts from it, but with a different monster or a modified layout along with a significant degradation in quality and pacing. There was also at least an instance where enemy spawns were placed right in front of a loading trigger, making it easy to accidentally walk through it while fighting them.
Some of the weapons were fun to mess around with, but a lot of them seem to have been added just for the sake of it and overlap each other in functionality too much, making them pointless to use. The nonstop fights against the same enemy types also made some sections tedious to get through, especially in the second half of the game. In addition, dialogue felt like I was watching a mockbuster of Half-Life, with G-Man feeling particularly out of character. The depiction of HECU soldiers is also very whitewashed when compared to the original.
Functionality-wise it doesn't seem to have aged very well, becoming quite apparent in the final quarter of the game. It often crashed on load, and it's very easy to get stuck in elevators. I had a few deaths where the physics system bugged out and just decided that my character shouldn't be alive anymore. Loading screens could interrupt music, and there was also a section near the end which has a sound effect that is ridiculously distorted and louder than everything else.
Both the friendly and enemy AIs are buggy and NPCs have a tendency to get stuck as well as constantly shoot friendlies. These issues are greatly amplified by the layout of some levels.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
Pros:
-Game introduces some cool concepts (with stuff like the CIA black ops and HECU fighting each other, Race X, etc.)
-Some cool new weapons (M249!)
-You play as a HECU
-Good military-themed soundtrack (Although the number of tracks is rather small)
-Cool sections where you fight alongside other Marines
-Otis
-Probably the best tutorial section in any game
Cons:
-Xen
-Pretty short (It took me 2.5 hours to beat on my first playthrough on normal)
-The accursed HD models
-Pretty lame final boss
-Not a huge fan of some of the platforming sections
-Some of the new alien weaponry feels a little gimmicky. For example, I never had much of a use for the Barnacle outside of the sections where you need to use it.
While Opfor is a little rough around the edges, it's probably one of my favorite Goldsrc games. Something about it is just so simple and fun, kinda in the same vein as the old DOOM games. Love those iconic sections where you team up with your fellow Marines to kick the Black op's asses. And it's also pretty cool seeing the Black Mesa incident from another perspective. Overall, I'd rate it an 8/10.
this game is really not that bad. blue shift is equally as good if you ask me.
It is a game, yes, A very old game
honestly i think this the better expansion out of the two as it's longer and has new content, it has new weapons new types of enemies and npcs all of them for me personally are great i also really like your soldier buddies even if their ai breaks sometimes, the story is really good and the gameplay is fun. very kool
just like half life 1. this game is just fantastic.
Some weird fat dude ask me for a quarter I shot him dead with a Glock 17 so I can get the Desert Eagle early.
Love the new enemies and weapons from this expansion. You should get this if you like the original Half Life.
I'll give it this, at least it didn't copy the story of Half Life like Blue Shift did!
average htdf fan:
average op4 enjoyer:
Great addition to the original Half-Life with even better gameplay and campaign.
I liked it a lot, it added a few mechanics that weren't present in the original, and it's pretty cool to see the story from a different perspective.
Half Life if you were a silly military man
Maybe better than the base game but also shorter
It was really fun playing as Adrian Sheppard, and although the story is shorter than the main game, I still enjoyed it. A few times, I had trouble with what I needed to do and where to go, so I had to search on Youtube (I had the same experience in the main game). I did start to get a little bored with the game about half way through, as I was mainly running around maps, shooting enemies then going to the next checkpoint. However, I pushed myself through the story and eventually finished the game. Still do recommend, despite my thoughts.
I didn't sign on for this shit
cant believe they used to make expansions for video games like this. the expansion feels like its own game
This is basically better Half-Life, I would give it a higher score than HL1 but at the same time, the 2nd to last mission is just brutal and it's much shorter. While the arsenal in the game is bigger and better, the enemies feel more spongy making you waste more ammo.
8/10
game is good but gaben is picketina
half life but mountain doo color LOL!!!!!!!!
just like fullmetal jacket, first boot camp, than fucking chaos
"Come in, Cooper. Do you copy? Forget about Freeman. We're abandoning the base. If you have any last bomb targets, mark them on the tactical map. Otherwise, get the hell out of there. Repeat, we are pulling out and commencing air strikes. Give us targets, or get below!"
Opposing force was the first of the expansion packs to be released in November 1999 after the dust settled from the impact of half life in 1998. In saying that, Opposing Force had an expectation to be of considerable measure to its larger counterpart, in which it equally created an impact in its own right.
When it was released, it immediately attained critical acclaim, becoming the "benchmark" in future expansion packs for years to come. It was proceeded in 2001 by the last expansion called "Blue Shift" which ended the original Half-Life saga for that era.
To the connoisseurs of HL or colloquially the veterans will know that the infamous green Lambda symbol and the grunt that represents this is immediately recognized. However to those new to the series, Opposing force is essentially, the story of the Soldiers who are sent to Black Mesa upon the catastrophe. You play as Adrian Sheppard, the protagonist apart of the HECU on an undisclosed mission.
Not only is this game a continuance of the original, it is by extension a masterpiece. OPFOR certainly entwines itself into the original half-life and the path of the Freeman. You will find, during game play that this comes to fruition in certain important scenes. OPFOR does not deviate excessively and still sticks to HL authentic roots. The protagonist does not talk, Levels are similar, puzzles that need to be solved to progress, the game still continuing the chapter sequences, no cut-scenes and scripted sequences to continue the story line.
OPFOR however does deviate in a few areas, new aliens, new weapons and player models. Race X was introduced to the game, which throughout the story you will be introduced to them in a classic HL way. Secondly a much variety of new weapons are also introduced, very extensively which in my opinion reflects the employment of the protagonist. In relation to the player models, introduces changes on security, scientists and the soldiers. For example, as an ode to the original, you can interact with a soldier mechanic who can weld doors open.
I do applaud the creativity of the levels, the enemies (not only the aliens but the covert ops), the weapons, the short and sharp music and the nostalgic sequences that are entwined together to give context to two simultaneous stories. You will also find, true to the HL experience being "alone" the majority of the time. You often find yourself coming across your stranded colleagues who are lost or separated, which brings unity, to help you fight on.
The game has been met with extremely positive reviews upon all outlets, however obviously some criticized the shortness of the game and perhaps other minor things. I do find this arbitrary, as a HL aficionado, you wouldn't even notice it. After all it is an "expansion". Whatever disadvantages this game has to a harsh, focused eye, certainly are outweighed by the advantages.
This game truly belongs to sit aside, some of the greatest games of our generation. It has much sentiment to me and every time I do play it, I reminisce about the golden days of gaming in the 90s. Im sure many who had this opportunity will agree and definitely will recommend this as a must play for the HL universe.
I know it only took me 3.5 hours to complete, but I feel that this game was far too long.
I enjoyed the references to the main game, but other than that it was pretty miserable.
I'm happy I bought this as part of a bundle.
I'm on vacation, running bootcamp on my Mac and this is the only game that I can get 60fps on.
10/10 tho.
Still Good To Play And The Story are Awesome
a good continuement of half life for other characters
this is a masterpiece i enjoyed this a LOT
it's nice to play as freeman's opponent.
Best valve protagonist ever. (yes i really said that fight me)
This game introduces new mechanics not present in the base HL1 experience, and is a great way to experience a new take on the Black Mesa Research Facility, furthermore, playing as one of the "bad guy" groups from the original HL1 provides a unique narrative twist, further adding to the moral complexity that the original HL1 posed by having the United States military serve as one of the antagonistic factions. Unfortunately however, this aspect of HLOF has arguably been all-but retconned out of the Half-Life continuity as its own self-contained story, and it is unlikely that its protagonist Adrian Shepherd will appear in a future HL title.
I think I like Opposing Force better than the original Half-Life. Well it's a GG so play it motherfucker!
While it has some of the base skin of the original HL1; this one is quite pathetic in level, sound, weapon, AND enemy design.
It was honestly boring to play after 1/3 of the game
Cannot believe that valve had the balls to completely rip off hunt down the freeman 19 years before it even came out. Absolutely appalling!
For gods sake,do not play on the hard difficulty, the enemies have auto aim and will shoot you down in an instant, you WILL die alot.
The game with a lot of HL2 proto-ideas.
adrian shephard's insect taming simulator
though it was made by greasy Randy, Opposing force has some fun gameplay and it's nice to focus on someone other than Gordon Freeman.
I am a 58 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single farther to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2021 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.
If you've played Half-Life, this is worth buying. It has unique mechanics, weapons and a viewpoint. The fact that you get to play as an HECU soldier makes the game much different from the original, and the new weapon and enemies are incredibly fun. The best expansion pack of any game ever.
Shepard senpai? Where have you gone?
Is Shepard senpai still asleep!? When is he gonna go out and play with me!!? >:[
Like Half-Life but with green HUD.
One of the best expansion packs to a game ever made. Opposing Force is simply "more Half-Life," not in a lazy, retreading way, but in a manner worthy of the title of "expansion."
It is not without flaws (Foxtrot Uniform and beyond can get borderline unfair, even if it does suit the story in a twisted way,) but if you like the original Half-Life, there is really no reason to not give this a shot, too.
in Half-Life: Opposing Force, you follow Shepard and his way out of Black Mesa once things turn sideways. This is one of the two DLCs for Half-Life and I did enjoy it. I found this to be better than Blue Shift in many ways and some features were better than Half-Life itself like the new weapons and the night vision. It's still inferior to the base game but I still had fun. The game was overall much more difficult than Half-Life and Blue Shift but more so towards the end. The rope physics were janky but they were cool to have. I was hoping for a story that wasn't this basic and more focused on the evil side but this game did humanize the villains a lot more. It's great for its gameplay but it lacks in its story. There were also some bugs and issues but it was smooth for the most part. This was a decently sized DLC and for many other reasons, Opposing Force gets a 7.5/10.
Something about being upset that Adrian Shepherd isn't in another game
Good sidestory of Half Life,i now understand why Opposing Force fans are kind of sad that there is not anything released about its story.
opposing force puts you in the shoes of a marine named Adrian Shepard who is part of the U.S marine corps sent to clear out black mesa. I consider this game to be better than blue shift no doubt, opposing force does some things better than HL1 with the weapons and the enemies, such as race X's enemies which are new to this game, same goes for the weapons. in opposing force we get new weapons like a desert eagle which comes with a laser sight, combat knife, an M249 saw mg, and then there is the alien weapons like a spore launcher, shock roach, barnacle tongue. it's (imo) a shame that those bad-ass alien weapons are only in use from chapter 8 to 12. this game also features rope climbing mechanics which can be fussy at times but it hasn't bothered me when i played through this game. I also wanna mention the soldier medic in this game, you have to hold E for like 5 secs for him to heal you, your kinda dumb if you don't know that because the game can get harder if you haven't made use of him. but in the end, opposing force has it's flaws and great game overall, i'm sure you'll enjoy this game.
full metal jacket : the videogame
Half Life: Opposing Force is the first expansion to Half Life, coming out about a year later. While not revolutionary in any sense compared to the the first title, it's still a darn good Half Life game that manages to pack a punch in such a short time. Instead of playing as Gordon Freeman, you are Corporal Shepard, a US Marine sent in to quell the Xen invasion and silence the cries of the SCIENCE TEAM. But before orders can be relayed, your helicopter is shot down leaving you to experience the chaos firsthand through the eyes of the marines. Other than shifting up the perspective and giving you a new campaign the game also adds new NPC's, but more importantly several new enemy and weapon types. The minor changes that this expansion adds give it enough spice to make it worth a purchase if you enjoyed Half Life 1. And the same kind of atmospheric storytelling present in the first game adds more to the value, especially for those who enjoy the lore. So if you're a fan of classic FPS games then you should definitely give this one a try.
It's alright. Might be I was playing it wrong near the end, but the combat certainly paddled my ass when it came down to nothing but Black Ops and those one-eyed aliens with their guns that try to jump ya. Final... quarter of the game? I don't remember exactly, but once the Pit Worm part is done I feel the quality takes a dip. The final boss appearing without ceremony, and its weak spot makes me want to find whoever at Gearbox thought that'd be a great idea and smack 'em upside the head.
The one thing I'll say as an absolute negative for this game is that the sound mixing is frankly woeful. The final chapter is the worst case of this, with noises playing over each other in tandem to the point where you can barely hear yourself being shot. Try to find a fix for that if you're interested in this game.
Sound issues aside, I'd say worth the price, especially if you enjoyed the original Half-Life game.
This game being the first expansion pack for a game 25-ish years ago really holds up better than expected, there's not much of a story but the content it adds is HUGE, would recommend.
i wish there were a sequel to this fucking DLC valve
i am just dying for atleast a goldsource or source mod where i can play as adrian shepard or atleast somebody from the HECU
you get to kill federally employed black operatives
I was forced to eat disabled grandma’s to prove I’m a cannibal who sniffs cocaine
They don't make expansions like they used to
this game is fun, the ending was awful. but the rest of the game is incredible.
Great game, although the story is basically non-existent.
Its good i like half life 1 better but opposing force is good
Nice alternative POV to the HL1 story with new guns and enemies and you can see Gordon a few times 8/10
Half-Life from the POV of the HECU.
first time playing this expansion, honestly wish we got to see return to ravenholm and more of shepherds story
very good would honestly play again. i hope someone makes a mod for hl2 or something like black mesa but with opposing force, this game definatly deserves a remaster.
Half-Life but you play as one of the soldiers. Basically if you liked Half-Life, then you'll like this I assume, pretty fun game that still holds up to this time, but also significantly harder than most games nowadays. If you like a challenge, liked Half-Life, and ok with the graphics then play it
This game was beyond my expectations, probably because I played Blue Shift first.
Interesting story with good gameplay, showing you the perspective of the "bad" guys, and that the conflict going on is more complicated than what you could see in the first game. Gameplay is about 5 hours but it offers so much.
The best for me was the new variety of enemies, each of them unique. A lot of new cool alien designs and alien weapons as well. Also added some cool new game mechanics like the grapple barnacle. It actually surprised me how different this game was from the original and actually added a lot of new features.
If you enjoyed Half-Life, you should absolutely play this as well. Definitely much better than Blue Shift, but both are worth playing.
For Some Reason camera in Half-Life: Opposing Force and Half-Life Blue Shift Have Broken Camera when i am trying to look at right or left it dont let me its just dont let me look around. if someone know how to fix it then pls tell me.
good side story game
but damn, too much bug stuck with elevator. Rolling camera screen and auto shot (even i don't do anything)
why did i kill the creature that was going to be nuked anyway
We Played As A hero, We Played As A Security Guard, Now It's Time To Play As A HECU Soldier!
everything an expansion pack should be
I would have a gay threesome with commander shepard and his brother mitchell. Masterpeice
Provides a different perspective to the original story of Half-Life and helps understand what happens after Gordon's in Xen back at the Black Mesa. While it is shorter, it adds new weapons and game play mechanics that make this a very good addition to Half-Life 1.

No way. Never again in my life. The worst MOD for Half-Life ever, and I will keep calling it as MOD even if somebody does not agree! Buggy, clunky, s*itty not balanced gameplay, with frustrating storyline which does not fit Half-Life at all. Some Fan-fiction game that pretends to be a "part" of Half-Life universe. Maybe as standalone game with its own storyline it could be interesting but not as part of Vanilla HL. People keep saying that this game is included in "Half-Life complete pack" and Gearbox was guided by Valve during developement of the game - for me it is not a good argument. Because just try to imagine that Valve just wanted to find some funding and marketing support when Valve was just on its raise, so they decided to cooperate with GB. Thats all, nothing more. Valve`s participation in this game was just less than basic. It was even told few times in some interviews.
Not cannonical game.
The first Half-Life game I played, great experience besides the frustrating enemies. Gave me a good impression on the famed HL series, and I'm hoping to play the rest of it. I see now why this game is great, and it's refreshing to see a game without cutscenes still tell a story.
Also this game has cool alien weapons like the adorable alien rocket launcher that you can pet. And Valve, please bring back Shephard for the next HL games!
