very good game, recommend play
I did a playthrough of this game earlier this year, it was extremely fun! I recently installed it again and wanted to play endless, but it started lagging when it never has before, and now it is borderline unplayable for me when none of the settings or progress OR my specs have changed, kinda disappointing..
Still recommend!

the original alpha and this game feel like two different vibes. the alpha told the story of a employee stuck in a haunted burger joint; this game has some complicated half-hearted "you're living in a simulation" story. the entire time playing this game it felt like i was being thrown about several different themes of gaming and never settled on calling this a full horror game with the long life simulator grinding you have to play with. the original alpha had a setting where the burger building gameplay felt like a flow, it was nice tight and was good enough to make me buy this game; this don't got that anymore. task put in before felt good to accomplish in the middle of making the npcs burgers, but feels ruined by the sudden goofy gameplay element that feel like cop outs on old elements made by bigger games done worse.

it was a grind to finish, and dident really get a 'ending'; and everthing presented in the demo and trailers feels underwelming in this.

i would not have priced this at 20$ for the content given; many assets used are between copypasta, and nicely detailed; putting the work of effort on what would be shown most in marketing. given the state of tinybuilds games being highly hyped on youtube but underwelming when played; ill never spend another buck after playing this game.

This game has great ambience, and you can tell the devs put love and care into this. When you beat the game, you can play endless mode and won't have to worry about messing up orders. It is great if you want to just do chill fast food simulator. I really enjoyed playing this game.

What a crazy ride! In a good, odd way. The game itself is like a combo of FNAF and a Cooking Sim (kind of like a horror version of McDonald's). The combo works very well especially with the idea of "don't mess up...or else!" The story itself is actually a lot more impressive than I was expecting. There is quite a lot of lore to find throughout the game, which builds on the whole world of Barnyard Buds and New Elysian City. I really loved the ending and it was not what I was expecting whatsoever. The game does include an endless mode that gets unlocked after beating the main game. It adds some replay value to the game, which I really like. It is also a lot less stressful than the main game. The graphics were great and I loved the ability to change them (while I am a fan of the VHS look, it was nice to change it to something where I could see the screen a lot better). Toe was the hottest best character in the entire game.

I didn't experience any bugs or issues during my plays, which is always really nice. The only thing I would have liked is the ability to actually zoom into notes (or even maybe to read them before they get sent to your apartment). Even with the notes at eye level, some of them were still a bit hard to read (even some of the font used was a tad bit hard to read).

Overall, I would recommend this hands down with no hesitation. If you love horror games and cooking sims, then you're in for the best time of your life.

Game's story is intriguing but not well polished. Also the game drags on way longer than it needs to. Cooking and serving in the game is the best part of it, however TinyBuild (as usual) finds a way to include mazes and platforming, which ultimately ruined the game, just like it did to Hello Neighbor. As I stated, the cooking is the best part, however it could do without the events and also the crawling things as well since they can blast vehicles in the drive through out of bounds and the order is no longer able to be delivered as the van is outside the player's reach. It was a good attempt, however TinyBuild always finds a way to make it not fun.

This is an inventive title that kept me playing until the end. It has a fun cooking system and rewards exploration in a creatively crafted open world. The aesthetics remind me of late 90's PC gaming (akin to Max Payne, etc.). It is "horror" but it leans more into the goofy side. The overhanging narrative is interesting and well considered. There were a couple issue I had with it: The difficulty curve spikes quite dramatically once tasks are included into the shuffle and the check-pointing could use some tweaking (especially after defeating a boss).

Minor criticisms aside, if the store page has your interest, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you add this game to your cart.

The demo years ago was fantastic. This full version was mind-bending, stressful, a little silly at times (hey, gotta break the tension sometimes), and matured from where the demo initially was. The story was awesome too as you continue to question your reality.

great exploration focused horror game , and really knows whats its doing , this is a hidden gem literally.

you are part time restaurant worker who is trying to piece together the dark secret of the town he is in , you spend some time in the game actually cooking which is decent fun on its own , while trying to explore the town for the rest of the day , which you will find alot of disturbing stuff along the way , i highly recommend you to try it on your own.

So many drugs were involved in the making of this game. Please do play this while under the influence, it makes this experience even more messed up.

In all seriousness, I think it's good. Just can't be expecting graphics to be top-notch. This is a cracked out horror game.

Fun game, worth the price of admission for the surreal and cool experience. It often rides the rail between "Strange, Unique, and Cool" and "Lazy Game Design disguised as art" but, with a few exceptions, rarely falls into the latter. The game is well designed, works well, and the story is simple but effective. Give it a go. 7/10

I enjoy simulator games. The story is nice, I remember watching the demo on Youtube. I enjoy the simulator aspect a lot even after beating the game. I got all achievements easily. I really like endless mode but I also wish there was a mode were it had endless mode but with death possible in order to get high scores. That would be niche and fun, a way for players to hop back into the game and try to beat scores. But I highly recommend it!

A very refreshing horror game. I enjoyed every part of this in fact from my first time playing I was so enthralled I played through the entire game on stream! This game from the simple burger cooking to the epic boss fights is fun start to finish. I hope I can enjoy more titles like this maybe even a part two or DLC!

RHICTKY
RHICTKY

The core of simple restaurant mechanics to earn money to continue exploring the city is solid and really fun. The game really drops the ball on it's set pieces though.

The first one works well enough, make burgers under pressure. All the other ones are very tedious and stop being fun before even half way though. Gathering pipes and hunting down ingredients while avoiding an enemy should have been enough of a twist that doing it 3 times was unnecessary. The escape maze is just wander until you get out, with something on your tail just at the start. The final fight is an exercise in waiting to lure the threat across the map, making something and running across the map again when it gets close.

Still very much recommended for the story and discovering things in the world.

With the great reviews I expected more but at best it's just a decently fun and interesting comedic horror spoof on working for a fast food conglomerate.

But mostly it's an overly priced Youtube Let's Player scream generator. Clunky controls, cheap graphics, and general low quality loses its charm when you pay full price; especially when there are a ton of games just like this at the same quality of better for free out there.

It's fun for a bit but doesn't contain much depth or anything unique or subversive.

If it was free or even like a dollar or 2 I'd be less critical, but even the sale price seems a bit for what you actually get.

Very very unpolished, to the point where it feels like an early access game. The tutorials aren't very helpful, to the point that if you make a mistake, the game doesn't tell you what you're doing wrong. Overall, very disappointing.

Siamese55
Siamese55

As someone that loves management sims and horror, this is a very good merger between the two. I do understand the disappointment some early fans have. The game has cut elements and much of the original suspense was streamlined (the "twist" is basically just the setting now). Both are a shame, but the game delivered is still more than praiseworthy. There are a lot of little details to get immersed in, and plenty of optional lore if that is what you are looking for. Otherwise, a perfectly serviceable cooking sim sandwiched in a horror story line.

My one critique is that I wish the later days were less of a pain to grind for money. The explosions can be a little much, but I guess that is what endless mode is for. If you like both these genres, definitely worth a shot.

It's a good game, I've seen many Youtubers play it and I wanted it purely for the creepy restaurant aspect (yea lore is cool and all, but have you ever *made* a burger? psh me either) Only problem I have is the graphic situation. I'd like to say my computer is decent, but the more floating particles and polygons used in a game, my computer fans start whirring and all I get is max 5fps. Even setting the graphic settings to Low did nothing to help compared to Ultra (Ultra did put me at 0-1 fps tho soooo), so I'd like to give advice to the game developer: changing the texture resolution does nothing for fps (I also noticed that *most* of the textures were super duper low res on the Low setting, but some furniture pieces and the cooked burger patties (major one I noticed tbh) are higher res than everything else). Whatsoever. Change the polygon count, turn off reflections, tweak shadows/lighting to be more simple (turn off that hazy thing that surrounds lights, I can't remember what it's called unfortunately :/ , but I know it's a fancy thing) please! I'd love to play more, as all I've managed was the 1st shift, but FPS kills games for me. Once this issue is resolved, I'll play more!

(Also I'd love a proper Restaurant Simulator for this but I've seen many reviews asking for this as well

Fantastic atmosphere, retro 3d graphics, neat audio, quirky ass story. It's like one of those cooking games where you have to prepare customers orders quickly, but in a messed up world. You have an apartment, travel to and from work, and can visit shops on the way. Weird, fun story.. thumbs up.

Seems the achievements currently don't work for some people, me included.

Perhaps this is a remnant of my time as a wage slave pushing carts and bagging groceries at a supermarket. Yet I find something relaxing and comforting about the game-play loop of cooking burgers, cookies, fries, nuggets, and even steak and salmon to customers. Just as I feel an odd sense of comforting filling and delivering their shakes and soft drinks to them via a paper sack. The graphics are more than passable and while the story is linear to a degree there are paths you can take that verge far from the beaten path. I do have a complaint about the sprinting mechanics as it felt like no matter how much I tried to run from Happy she ended up catching me regardless. Despite how I did my upmost to keep an eye on her at all times.

Money will also be an issue you want to save your money and buy parts for the inventions strategically you also want to ensure to collect as many burger tokens as possible to upgrade the franchise to the max degree. The horror is here. The mundane wage slave work is here. The money is here to buy things to escape or to buy a jukebox for your department that you will have to pay off with three or more shifts. All in all a solid game experience and one I highly recommend.

I have followed this game from the prototype on itch.io, to the alpha on Steam, to now the final version of the game. I have been able to watch it grow into what it has become.

I cannot believe the great game it started as, and now the adrenaline pumping mind boggling experience it has grown to be.

The game is hard to place, but just think of a Fast Food Simulator....if you added sentient mascots and everything in the restaurant wants you dead.

If interested I have gameplay on my channel on all the stages of its development: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spceKqo-1NM

But buy this one and experience it! It's quite the ride!

I don't recommend this game primarily for the price vs value. At $20 I expect the game to be largely bug free and to feel finished, this product as of now is neither of those things. I like the direction and core gameplay, but the frequent bugs (albeit not really game breaking) take me out. I've reported a couple to the discord but it's unclear how closely monitored those threads are. The story progression feels unpolished, as it oscillates between free roam and scripted encounters, which also negatively affects the pacing. The obnoxious guide NPC VIC will badger you to complete certain plot adjectives while I feel more drawn to investigating a different area. The other major issue I had was the lack of a sense of time. You have to go to work every day, but there is unlimited time before and after to do anything you want. Again this contributed to pacing issues, as I could complete multiple story objectives in a single day while making little to no progress on the "restaurant management" side of the game. The connection between the two besides lore is unclear. This is already so long winded so I'll finish by saying I hope the devs continue to work on this project because I see a lot of potential.

GrubSlime

This game is good on a number of levels. Some aren't the best but they are fun, at least to me.

The low quality of the environments and the NPCs encountered while they are distracting at first, do make sense considering the story of the game will clue you into why it looks that way and it's pretty clever.

The horror elements can be quite startling while some can be dumb. Like when a window smashes, or the restaurant mascot props move or the appearance of the beasts that hunt you.

However some parts are kinda goofy with invisible dude running in and turning off the appliances. Less scary and more making you want to punch the invisible dude. After you find a full coffee, a lot of the horror monsters are just a laughing stock. No joke I just played leap frog with the chicken monster at one point because the speed boost made him way less of a threat.

Not gonna say much else except my favourite part of the game. Making the food. It's honestly a lot of fun just playing endless mode to just make the burgers and other stuff. Fun game.

This game is so much more than a cooking sim. The story line is interesting. The characters are fun. Explore all of the environment to find all the hidden secrets.

Wasn't exactly as i expected although i played the beta and maybe i should have known better. Got this on the launch day and waited for ever for it to come out and almost didnt think it was gonna make it but it didi!

Fun game, shortish, probably wont be any add on's or DLC although their discord is filled with teasers and back story and update often enough for me. Definitely an old style look to it and plays into the horror aspect real well! Hopefully another one comes out because ill gladly play that one also!

Over all I love this game and I'd give it a 8/10 only because I wish it was longer and I wouldn't mind it being a little harder at least for me.

I wanted to recommend this game ... but honestly only the first 30 or so minutes are any good. The atmosphere and setup are solid, the gameplay lacks polish. In the end I stopped playing half-way through because it changed genre to "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" and I didn't have the energy to a cliche horror genre that I don't enjoy.

plus: good game for the price, a lot of content and the story, while its nothing new, its pretty interesting and well explained, the cooking element of this game is fantastic, its challenging but never unfair, and the spooks give you an aditional challenge to keep you on your toes.

cons: that being said, once the main story is over, the cooking portion of the game, or enless mode, becomes pointless, there is no real goal into doing it other than see how long you can last, and thats pretty much it, i would love if they added challenges or boss stages for the endless mode, but its just the cooking portion of the game on a loop.

Also also, the game becomes a little bit of a drag in later stages (the chicken part, hint hint) but nothing TOO bad to drastically affect the game.

Overall, i would recommend this game, but keep in mind that if you like the cookin portion of the game, you are going to be left a bit blue balled.

This game is creepy and unique. I do wish some of the controls were easier, and items didn't vanish.
But, I do very much recommend giving this a try if you like eerie horror.

This game is so intriguing and so fun to explore, between learning the story line, exploring the backstory of some characters, all of it makes this game wonderful. I have yet to finish it, however with only three hours in this game I can still confidently say this is one of my favorite games I have ever found. The graphics give it a nice feel and it's not all about cooking burgers you get to explore so much and learn so much about this story. First look at this game I didn't expect much as of lore/story but it's story really does suck you in, at least for me. Even going on shifts and stressing to get the orders right is a good bit of fun. I would definitely recommend this game to people who like the way it looks and are looking for a game like this. I hope the creators of this game come out with more like this!

It scratches that primal burger-making restaurant management itch.

The short:

+Fun core game play loop
+Good balance between core game play loop and exploration/walking sequences
+Interesting world with creepy atmosphere

-The narrative is very front heavy and loses momentum about halfway through
-Samey boss battles
-Reveals the hook/twist too soon

The long:

This is my favorite horror property in a few years. The premise is simple: an alternate Earth where an evil company has released Lovecraftian gods that have, for some reason, become obsessed with and taken the form of this world's version of Mickey Mouse. You're trapped as a wage slave in a loop making burgers for their pleasure. On the surface, it seems like another generic mascot horror game like FNAF or Poppy Playtime, but IMO this one executes the premise a little bit better.

The game follows two paths:

The core day-to-day gameplay loop where you wake up and work in the fast food restaurant. It's like any other cooking game like Cook, Serve, Delicious or Overcooked in that it follows a simple loop of cook and prepare. You can discover upgrades for the restaurant. It slowly adds more responsibilities and challenges, including supernatural events.

In between your job, you're investigating the city and trying to escape. This is the basic walking/horror game premise. You walk around, find stuff, and solve puzzles using hints. Occasionally these segments culminate in boss fights using the burger mechanics.

I think the distinction between the two events really balances each each other out. The job segments keep the horror elements from becoming a little too overwhelming. The horror segments keep the work segments from feeling monotonous.

I enjoy the story. Like a lot contemporary horror games, the story is primarily discovered through lore scattered throughout the city. It's a blend of eldritch, technological, and dystopian horror that blend seamlessly. It doesn't just do one *thing* and I found myself genuinely interested in learning more about the world and its narrative. The problem is twofold: it immediately reveals the hook of the story rather than letting it build, and then peters out about halfway through. Because everything is discovered through lore, you can find it all out very quickly.

I try not to compare games to other games because it's nonconstructive or productive, but I think it's appropriate to compare it to the original demo that it's based on. Essentially, while the demo starts with the basic "you work in a diner" component, you discover slowly that things aren't as they seem, whereas in this you're immediately shown what's happening, so the unfolding events are to be expected. I wasn't wondering what's going on, because the game immediately told me what was going on. The game tells you from the beginning that you can either choose to escape or choose to continue to live out your life, but there's no reason not to escape. There's nothing tying you to this world and no benefits whatsoever to sticking around, especially since it tells you from the beginning that you can unlock endless mode by finishing it. While the game expands on the core gameplay of the demo by introducing new mechanics and challenges, it doesn't do much to expand on the story/narrative of the original demo.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but this game seems to tap into mythological/religious elements. It draws parallels to gnosticism that give it a deeper meaning than "the mascots are alive. Isn't that creepy?!" This might be because the game's clearly influenced by the Matrix, which is itself directly influenced by gnosticism and mythology, or it might be intentional.

I think a lot of these issues boil down to this being a budget, indie game. Overall, I really liked it. I thought it was worth the $20 price tag, and I think it's definitely worth a sale price. Even with my problems with the game, I didn't enjoy it less, I just wished that I could experience it as a longer, bigger game with the budget and time to expand on the story and the life simulation elements to really flesh out the world and provide you a reason to be invested in the world so that I could enjoy it *more*.

The Humble Burger is not bad. It has flavour. It has the ingredients. But something is missing. Something to bind it all together. Something to make it last. Each of the patties come and go without the alluring aroma of anticipation, nor any satisfying aftertaste or subtle undertones. Overall the meal is unsatisfying and leaves one hungry.

Absolutely wonderful marketing though, the toyline, art, and cartoons are top notch and fun for everyone.

I've beat this game at max achievements in only ten hours. I didn't know what I was getting into but the demo excited me. I was very glad this game turned out so good but... Couple of downsides. There were multiple noteable spots near the end where it was confusing and lost me. Giving short, vague, objectives didn't help. I couldn't find key items near the end and it got really upsetting after about 20 minutes walking around the hotel.

Overall pretty good, fun trip, and I love the endless mode. 6/10, above average horror game! Very good!!

SPOILERS::::

It ends in a jumpscare. I took off several points for that. It wasn't even a well directed jumpscare. It was lame. Would've been scarier with Happy just looking at the camera and a cut or even a fade to black.

this game was so good i went out to my local McDonalds, got a job, made a happys humble deluxe, and then threw a milkshake at a customer and told them it's fine it's just a simulation.
I then proceeded to run around the back room screaming that Happy was going to get me and we're all going to die because the lights started flickering and my machines shut off.

10/10 would talk to toe and get thrown in the loony bin again.
