Great game. The villagers irritate me some by never being home when i need to go to them for something but otherwise i love the game.

I have been playing the Harvest Moon and subsequent spin-off series' since 2002. LoH represents a stark and unfortunate decline in quality within Harvest Moon games, and solidifies the Story of Seasons series as the definitive Harvest Moon successor. After just under 45 hours with the game, I found the small points of enjoyment were purely based on the basic formula that all games within the farm & befriend genre have, rather than any innovation from this entree in particular. The characters are widely uninteresting and bland, the 'storyline' isn't engaging in the slightest, and the artistic direction seems far more like an imitation than anything original. With the original developers gone, it's no surprise that the quality is so low.

I rate this game a Turnip/Play Another Game.

Stardew Valley had mod support. Spend your money on that.

Graphics are a little rough and storyline can get confusing at times, but overall a super enjoyable and nostalgic game. I love playing this to unwind at night and the various animals are so cute. Would recommend

Not one of the better games in the series, but it has its moments. this game is a beginner-friendly farm sim with simple mechanics, a cute storyline, and new characters. I think fans of HM/SoS should save their money -- the weird character renders, limited landscape design, and bugs make it less fun than a replay of FOMT or another game from the series. that being said, the UI does have some good points, such as auto-selecting appropriate tools based on which task you're doing -- no more accidentally cutting crops when you thought you'd equipped your watering can.

This game is terrible as hell... Control schemes (like mobile game), events, crop and livestock quality that don't match health, viillagers request system and much more. This is not Harvest Moon.

The same ol' fun of playing Harvest Moon. Plant it, pick it, get paid, do side quests-yup. Smooth PC version, I haven't noticed any blaring glitches.

I absolutely love this game! At first, I questioned a few things, but the more I played the game, the more I enjoyed this game. I'm a big fan of all of the Harvest Moon games, especially the first one - the original, and I must say, this isn't a bad game. It was worth twenty bucks for me, at least. Anyways, if you're a fan of Harvest Moon, I'd say, give it a go!

Harvest Moon inspired so many games over the last 20 years, the most famous one is probably Stardew Valley, wich I like a lot. Stardew Valley had some problems though wich don't exist in Harvest Moon, like the poor combat system and the stupid fishing game.

I love the overall wholesome atmosphere and it's just something so relaxing, even though it's working on a farm. Definitely my favorite Life-Sim series. Especially recommended to people that like Stardew Valley, but hate the combat in that one.

Time to finish the main storyline: 23 hours

It's pretty fun and kept me busy for a few hours, however I uninstalled it because I hate how they don't let you delete saved games. For a child this game would be fun I am sure, but for me even though it kept me busy the way breeding your animals and saving your game works is pretty dumb. For starters you have to buy some kind of potion to make your animals get pregnant, not sure why just doing the typical buy two animals one of each gender and see what happens wouldn't of worked.

However, my biggest complaint is simply just how there seems to be absolutely no way to delete saved games other than save a new game over it. That is the stupidest thing about this game.

It has opportunity to be better, but as it is, it's not very good.

Negatives:

1. The storyline is fairly short, can be completed within a day or two. Should probably extend the storyline and make it last throughout at least a year game time. That way it'll take a few days and one could explore more of the world around them and play for more than just the story.

2. There are next to no player choices to make. You get to decide wether you play as a boy or a girl, your birthday, and your name. Oh and your significant other, of which are not many due to the fact that it isn't possible for same sex marriage. We don't get to design our characters or truly choose who we wish to end up with. I understand that programming is a bit of an issue, but one could take the money gained from this and improve the game to make it much more player centered and better overall.

3. The controls, even with a controller, are wonky. It is rather hard to tell just where you are and what all does what when moving your character. As others have said, it's very reminiscent of a moble game.

4. The graphics are fine, but the mash-up between the 3D and 2D pixel art styles does not work. It would be better if the 2D models were a little bigger to make your character and the npcs fit into the world better.

5. It is rather hard to figure out what to do and how to get things even with Edmond. I had to look up how to get a fishing pool because I didn't know how to and the same with a hammer for the mines. I also had to look up how to go about the levels of the mines (go deeper) and how to fish properly. Nothing was explained, except for at the very beginning.

I like the idea of such a mash-up world, but if I had to choose between this and Stardew Valley, I would choose the latter. It's a lot smoother in its gameplay, the player has more control over the smaller things, how to do things is actually explained... I could go on. Personally, it's a waste of money and I bought the bundle pack. If I could remove bought games from my library, this would be one of them. Again, it has potential, but it's definitely not something I will be returning to any time soon for any reason. It's rather boring and I'm just sitting around half the time waiting for people to be available. I would like a refund and I think a demo should be released for this so people can find out if they actually like it before wasting their money on it.

I've been a fan of the Harvest Moon series since back when I was a kid playing A Wonderful Life on the GameCube and after 30+ hours of playing this instalment I can say with absolute certainty that if you're looking for an enjoyable game in the series than this entry is not worth your time. In fact, any entry bearing the Harvest Moon name since Natsume's split with Marvellous back in 2014 can be skipped.

The Harvest Moon games made since the split are half-assed, hollow attempts at cashing in on the fact that they got to keep the name they gave the series for the English localisation. The 3D graphics make the game feel bland and uninteresting compared to previous 3D entries to the series. The characters don't feel as interesting, and the gameplay doesn't give me much to make me want to return to it every time I shut it off.

I didn't even get to the point of getting married in the game because after someone accepts your proposal you have to jump through more hoops in the form of quests with frustratingly specific requirements. After several in-game days waiting for one of my animals to produce a specific quality of wool I realised that I was no longer enjoying myself and hadn't been for some time. I shut the game off and felt no desire to return to it.

If you're looking for a good Harvest Moon game either get your hands on an entry from before the split, or pick yourself up one of the entries in the *real* Harvest Moon series, renamed Story of Seasons by Marvellous. They keep the heart of the series that made fans love it to begin with, while adding new and interesting features that keep players coming back.

tl;dr: All HM games after 2014 suck. Play Story of Seasons instead.

This game is pretty awful. The animations are bad, their is no depth in characters, too much grinding without no real progression. Just don't play it if your looking for a good game that is what you are looking for play Stardew Valley, My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock or Seasons. Avoid this game it is a work of pure laziness.

I love Harvest Moon, it first begun for me on my Gamecube, when I found out that there was a PC version, I bought it and all DLC. I wasn't disappointed. There's plenty to do, farming, collecting, fishing, mining (always hated the mining part imo). There's so many aspects.. If you complete the storyline there are still achievements to get so the game continues.

This is like every harvest moon before it. I've played for an hour, just got it, and it's reminiscent of all the Wii based ones. There's a storyline for you to complete, very Mii like character designs, and simple controls. Nothing wrong with any of that. In fact I'm already enjoying it immensely.

Also for the save issue person..... it's the book in the menu, you're welcome.

One of the better installations of the HM family of games in the last couple years. Story moves a little fast, which pushes the bulk of the gameplay into "postgame", but still fun to come back to time and time again.

This game is empty, the interface is poorly designed, and every interaction is superficial. I knew that the original creator had split off to go make Story of Seasons but I thought with a whole team and a bucket of cash the original IP could make something fun. This game is not fun and you will waste your hours trying to power through to the fun part. But there is no fun part. Go get some mods for stardew valley and never buy from this franchise again.

I played this game on my nintendo when I was a kid but somehow I am not so much a fan of consoles anymore so I am actually quite glad that it is available for PC now. It is a simple game, there is not much story to it. I would say it is a nice amusement but not the best game ever. If you really are looking for a game like this I guess you should rather play Innocent Life or Stardew Valley.

I dont usually write reviews, but i had to in this case. Harvest Moon was my childhood, and upon discovering the game on steam ( i know, pretty late, but still), i burst into tears. A pleasant feeling of nostalgia went through my body. I remember my cousin playing Harvest Moon series on his Nintendo back in the days. I am very grateful for this game and every other Harvest Moon series released on PC, because this way I can recall the good memories. ♥

I won't lie, this Harvest Moon instalment does have it's faults:
The horse is pointless. (Due to the later unlocked map fast travel.)
No instructions on mining.
Found gems and jewels overpower the crop aspect.
Everything is costly. Some items are tougher to obtain. (e.g your own wardrobe!)
Main story short.
Slow walking animation.
Not impressed with the bachelors this time round. Most are rather dull or too dopey. (Taking my chances with the Underworld King. LOL At least he's got some adorable qualities.)

Regardless I still experienced enjoyment from it. There's some good humour. Character and animal designs are cute.
Light of Hope may not be the best to some. For me I found it a great introduction to the farming genre. I avoided the Harvest Moon franchise like the plague. (Due to the early, frustrating GBC version way back.) I'm now searching many other game variants (both old/new) and catching up on a lot I sorely missed out on.

I really love games like this, and I especially like that Harvest Moon has a mechanic for when your energy is getting low. Stardew Valley doesn't really have one, and it makes playing that one much harder, even though all of the mechanics are the same.

Great game for a 5-year-old to play.

This is a Harvest Moon game by name only. Everything about this game - the characters, the story, even the game play itself - is inexplicably boring and it doesn't even look finished. If you want your classic Harvest Moon series, you should just go back to the old games - and if you want an authentic feeling harvest moon game on steam, you should play Stardew Valley.

If I hadn't looked up what was happening with the Harvest Moon/Story of the Seasons title split, I would've been REALLY surprised that the "20th anniv game" of "Harvest Moon", my favorite series growing up, is like this. I had plenty of fun playing it. In my opinion it's a lot more chill than SOTS:FOMT and I really like it for when I don't want to feel crushed under the demands to keep up, but I can't help but notice how unfinished it felt. It was all over the place, the pacing is rather bizarre, and I don't think I've ever played a HM game where I have 80k gold by the start of Year 1 Summer.

There's crop mutations and 4 different types of soil, but somehow it's missing a map where you can see where you planted what, and would need to go to the location to check individual plots for what kind of plant is there. There's a shipping bin, but it feels a bit weird to have it when you can sell to specific shop-owners for higher prices. There's no real way to know tomorrow's weather. The quality of the animal produce is *randomized*, which is just unbelievable. Animal growth rate also feels like forever despite purchasing from store, which in my opinion defeats the purpose; the idea of purchased animal vs birthed one is that of comparing upfront cost with the profit loss from the length of pregnancy as well as waiting for the newborn to grow into an adult. It doesn't matter, there's no point in getting the pregnancy medicine, it's literally more expensive than just buying a calf off Sofia. You get incredibly rich very easily off of mining, which has both a positive and negative: in one hand, you're not as pressured to plant plant plant and water until 2 AM. It's actually really nice if you're looking for a truly chill game. On the other, it does make the farming feel kind of pointless, if what you enjoy is the gradual and careful building of wealth.

Another aspect that I felt was really lacking was... the villagers. There's nothing really interesting about them; personality-wise, maybe there's a trope or two you like, but they hardly have deeper relationships with each other. I rarely feel the need to visit or talk to them to see how they're doing. NPCs are also usually stuck in one place at certain points in the plot, which means for weeks on end while you're trying to get a specific quality milk, they'll be in the same spot every day morning to evening, saying exactly 1 dialogue.

At the same time, I do think there's enough things going for it to be worth getting on sale, or even full price if you're in other countries where the full price is halved. Funnily it's the fact that some of the systems are wonky or lackluster that you end up able to set your own pace. If you're like me and get really stressed out about meeting goals or missing the shop opening windows, this game is an alternative where you can largely ignore all that. Just come in with a different mindset, I think.

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope feels like a mobile game played on a pc. You can play the game entirely with a mouse. The artstyle of the game feels cheap and lazy. The story segments are long and boring to sit through.

I had fun while I played the game, I just don't recommend it for Harvest Moon fans. This game feels like a soulless cash-grab.

This is a beautiful and fun game. This review is only for those players who played the Stardew Valley with the fishing mod. I played that game for 500 hours and could only progress thru the game with the fishing mod. This game has the same fishing style and I can not progress anymore since I can't catch any fish and there aren't any mods. Reading the forums, I realize that I am not the only one with this problem. So if you are like me, DON"T buy this game. It will be waste of your money. It will only frustrate you. It is a shame because it has such a great potential.

Love that you can explore the world at your convenience and schedule and do what you want when you want. Moves along pretty well and pays out decent enough to be able to afford things without having to wait forever. Do not like that the game has been the same for every version and under different names and creators to all have the same scenarios, people, and situations. Come up with a different situation, storyline, goals. This is a success, just give us something more.

Harvest Moon always was an interesting game because the mechanics are interesting and the graphics were good. This game very much still nails it in those marks but brings some innovations. Especially the RPG linear story format which is new to me. I heard some YouTuber's criticism and it's all based on how the game looks bland and done lazily. But I have to add that the simple sprites are clean and don't demand some aggressive RAM from the computer, in other words, it works fine on low-end computers. Plus the music is very soothing to the ear, differrent from the older versions of Harvest Moon.
