This is probably one of frustrating and most favorable game of the entire Trilogy.
(Pros/Cons)

P - The game for the price on its own, is reasonable.

P - Audio/VA of the game may be a little bit noisy also loud, overall its alright.

P - The story itself is very nicely written, I would recommend it for those who seek good/oldschool stealth games,

P - Very well, detailed level design, for Example " St. Petersburg Stakeout", "Basement Killing" and "Motorcade Interception" and the last level...Pure "Absolution".

P - Music for its own game is very fitting (Thanks to best composer Jasper Kyd).

Well but as we all know, every game needs to have bugs/glitches and on some occations crashes.

C - Now on the bad side of this game, well I dont know much about ports on PS3/4 or Xbox 360, but damn the game might crash on few moments of your gameplay, but its a very rare,

C/P - However, I know its an old game, but its frustruating that on some levels your timing needs to be near perfection as Its show on some walkthroughs ((Yes I had to use it much often)), because some events are scripted that you need to be from point A - B in seconds, otherwise the guard might spot you, {Unless you doing it slowly, then its no issue :> }.
P/C - And now levels itself:
"Tutorial Level/Anathema: Not a problem, unless the guards spots you, or a woman might enter too late, while commiting your felony".

"Russian Themed Missions: Also not much of the problem, TT Mission might be tricky".

"Japanese Levels: First Level might be confusing, since you start behind the rock, but it shouldnt be a problem, along with the rest but "Hidden Valley" IS SO GODDAMN BROKEN/BUGGY AND THE WORST... (Ninja's YAMEE YAMME detection rate, the car approaching the soldiers might rush over one of em, causing "The Guard has found the Dead Ninja" or "The Sniper Acquired the Target" on the beginning or Ninja's seeing you while your being hidden in the truck... it took me 3-4 hours to finish it, I dont know if its intentional, but The Ninja disguise shouldnt be considered the undetectable?, since it literally covers your entire face?! the Idea itself sounds more interesting rather than its execusion...

"The Malaysia Levels: Very short levels, I wish they'd be more longer, :/
" Afghanistan Missions: "The Murder at the Bazaar" might be a trouble, (SA/Pro) since it doesnt tell you where to go, The rest of the levels are typical "take your time, not a rush" type of formula :D
"India Missions: On Pro, might be tedious like "Death of Hannelore", My favourite "Temple Ambush"
"Redemption Mission: Just a total BAD-ASS!!!!"
Overall the game, the game is great, for its own adult entertainment like people pretending to piss, which is funny, weapons as your collectables through the game, then possibility for their own usage, I would recommend pay for this game.

Why is it I can only think of 2 franchises that have classical music as a center piece?

Anyway cornerstone of Stealth. Stealth needs love, so if you can handle it go for it.

If the Codename 47 was the start of Hitman series, this one was the first Hitman that perfected the gameplay, so totally worth your time and money. you have so many ways to do everything and there isn't any limitation for your actions. you can try so many different things to accomplish your goals that makes it a masterpiece of a game. the only problem that i encounter was AI is not consistent and sometimes enemies detects you when you didn't do anything wrong but it isn't a series and game breaking problem. also unlike the first game that makes you start over if you lose the objective or die , in this game you can save your progress up to 7 times in middle of each mission (for some missions even more) and there is a live map that you can use anytime you want and so many other things that improved from the first game.

This one is suuuuuuuuuuuuuch a step-up in quality compared to the first one it's unimaginable. The first one was short, boring, monotone, narrative-wise insignificant, technically soooo poorly aged and buggy and flawed as hell.

This is one has an adequate length, introduced so many more options, a more consistent and logical AI, greater maps and a better story too, and surprisingly it aged extremely well on a technical note like UI scaling and performance. Despite my overwhelmingly positive experience, there are of course some things that hinder the quality in comparison with Blood Money, Locations are split-up in multiple missions like the first game yet again, a poor decision I think, the story seems to completely loose it's footing after the first location, 47 basically doesn't talk after that point etc etc but still very good overall.

You should definitely pick this up compared to the first one when it's on sale or you feel like it.

Excellent sequel to the original Hitman game.

You can tell IO Interactive got to refine and improve on their first success.
This game changes vastly from the original in that you can't just run around willy nilly, and have to seriosuly think about your approach. It also rates you on how well you performed the contract, Silent Assassin being the highest and meaning you only killed the target.

Tough, but rewarding!

Massive improvement over Hitman: Codename 47. You can really see the open world direction they are aiming for - maps are bigger, contracts are a bit more difficult, AI is a bit better, and they even added budget for a good soundtrack.

Back in the previous days, When I used to play this on my orignial Xbox this game felt quite smooth, fustrating at times but overall a good experience. When I played this on PC it seems that everything I do is an act of war... I walk past guards, must be a war criminal that needs to be killed immediately. I look in their direction even for a second, I get lit up in 5 different directions.

I would recommend this game for people who have an extreme ammount of patience and luck, but for the majority of people who are just coming back for the nasolgia this isn't the place try Blood Money or another Hitman experience.

A classic experience. Although it's not optimized at all to run on Windows 10, so make sure you refer to the fix posted on the community hub. Apart from 2 levels with absolutely broken AI, this is the first of many hits that IO Interactive have developed (pun intended). Fantastic soundtrack, great level design, and an interesting enough story, this is an experience every Hitman fan should have. Even if you've only played the recent trilogy.

Gameplay: 9/10
Story: 7.5/10
Soundtrack: 10/10
Overall: 9/10

A ton of boring missions, ugly locations, and frustrating mechanics. A restrictive scoring system that feels like it's judging your every move, discouraging experimentation and encouraging repetitive samey gameplay, and ensuring instead of playing through your mistakes you reload that last save/restart the mission.

Always knew i didn't belong in this world. I wasn't made for this. But I'll never forget- those who betrayed me, and those who never failed my trust. I'll be carrying nothing from Gontranno but this lesson: never trust anyone and rely on your instincts. Forget the past. I'll never find peace here. So, I'll seek justice for myself. I'll choose the truth I like.

A classic in the Hitman series, this is a great game that was innovative for the time. Expect poor visual quality and clunky mechanics, but also expect a good time completing open-ended missions. With a few exceptions, you can complete a mission however you want. Gun everyone down? If you're good enough, why not.

Back in 2000 when i played Hitman Codename 47 and at that time i was a kid, i managed to beat the game.
But i dunno it feels like i was losing interest in Hitman and forgot the franchise.
Back in 2022 i bought this game while on sale and the opening of the game is amazing lol.
47 became a priest in training, helping a father of the church, commited his sins.
And then two stupid persons made a mistake with making a problem with the wrong person which is the legend and the myth, 47.
Can't wait to play more, it's so interesting after the opening.
Oh my lost 21 years, where have i been lol.

With great stealh comes great frustration

The story of a deranged killer clone continues right after the end of Codename:47
After the massacre at the asylum - 47 decided to retire and live a peaceful life...donating to some church... in Sicilia.
On the oher end of the world - some Russian guy decided to find 47 and manipulate him in doing various stuff for him. Got manipulated himself in the end.

Gameplay added some new stuff - the dreaded disguise bar that barely works - because 47's face is easily recognized even by a local gardener so yeah. You can also sedate people for going extra pacifist and also you can setup a giant incredible plan on each mission to complete it with a single shot/strangle and then quickly get away.
But who am I kidding - most people enjoy improvising...until Japan hits hard with its snipers....oh the dreaded snipers...

Anyway the missions are set in Sicilia, Russia, Japan, Korea, Aphganistan, India and then back to start - like in previous game. You stealth, you disguise, you shoot, you run. Except for now there a lot more enemies, no more extra lifes - replaced with save slots and no penalty for shooting civilians.

Now for the bad part
The game is still old - there is no V-sync option again - you need to lock framerate, change some files to make proper resolution - otherwise - its pretty playable. But buggy here and there so yeah...

As for the soundtrack and the looks
Music is epic as fecc - Budapest orchestral did a god's work here
And the looks - well its okay even for its age.

Can be re-played from time to time since it can be pretty random and chaotic.

TL;DR:
A solid sequel for an old claasic
Hard, sometimes unforgiving, with lots of missions, with a pretty nice plot in it.

Although this game detection meter is a pain in the ass and some mission are not well done and almost impossible to go through it with stealth (looking at you Japanese mansion), The OST of the game make up for the flaws that it had and judging by 2002 standards, this game is a masterpiece that bring the wider audience to the world of Hitman. Definitely worth the money

Great game with amazing atmosphere and killer soundtrack, my nostalgia bias aside I think this game holds up well. I've had no problems with performance or crashes on both GOG or Steam, I do recommend the GOG version more though since the Steam version (1.02) is slightly censored from the original on GOG (1.01).

Recent reviews are mixed but hey this is an old game. You know about Hitman these days but yes back in those years the game was difficult and maybe the mechanics are outdated for today standards. I'd recommend just for getting thos old memories back.

Finished the game twice in the non steam version

Although the stealth in this game is pretty buggy, it worth picking up since it has a huge variety of missions and this is the Hitman game with highest number of missions.

To play in full screen and at your desired resolution, all you have to do is to edit the config file in the game's folder.

Since this this is the censored version (1.02), all the missions with the Sikhs have been modified like the dialogues are a bit changed and some references to Indian Gods have been removed, that's all.

But if you want the uncensored version (1.01), you can easily do that by following a few guides available on steam and then you will be good to go.

If you are a Hitman fan, you would love this regardless of the bugs in this game.

I think I like this game? I really want IOI to remake this game or at least remaster it with better AI. That is really the worst part of it. This game fixes almost everything that was wrong with CN47, with well made maps excluding a couple. This game allows you to kill your targets in more optional ways and not just one or maybe 2. The music is also really damn good. Like so good I listen to it on my own. CN47 had fine music but it wasn't too special. But the AI in this game. Fucking sucks. They will come out and attack you at random, making every time you walk past a guard, a coin flip. It can be really irritating, especially in the Japanese levels. Aside from that though, I would recommend. The game has good story and has this really neat atmosphere that can transports me outside of this world. Gude gam

Absolute piece of garbage, detection system is the dumbest of all games

Gab

This game has a great soundtrack, story, and great ideas for missions. So why don't I recommend it?

This has the literal worst disguise system in the series. With the way disguises work in this game, guards will basically instantly see through you if you get close to them or if you're merely sprinting... MOST of the time. The most baffling thing about this game is that the Suspicion Meter feels completely random. I could be caught instantly in one load of a save file, but the next time I load literally nothing happens, and vice versa. Fans hate when the WOA trilogy gets complimented at all, but it implements this idea in a much smarter way through the white dots that'll see through your disguise much more easily; it's a lot more predictable, varies based on disguise, and still offers a solid challenge while being easier to work around.

This is a stealth game where there's no consistent rules. No thanks.
