i will happily recommend this game to friends for it is a very fun game to play when you are bored, horny, both, neither, or dont know what to play.
thank you devs for blessing me with this challenging yet very fair game
I liked Hook (1) enough to replay it, even though it's just the same levels over again, so this was an automatic buy.
The mechanics of the original return here: remove hooks in a specific order, determined by their shape & how they're interconnected with the other pieces. The early levels are quite easy, as before. Later on, it becomes necessary to change which hook is (and is not) activated - think circuitry.
I found the 3D aspect to be a generally positive addition. Some of The later levels that require the player to connect two points were my only source of irritation. Sometimes the rotation would shift a little after letting go of the mouse button (no, I didn't accidentally move it), requiring further adjustment.
I don't expect to replay this one but I did find it enjoyable. New players should start with the first game.
Another masterpiece from Maciej Targoni. As always, the puzzles here are elegant and thought-provoking. He took the excellent formula of Hook and added an interesting new dimension. Some of the levels toward the end are a little convoluted, but as always he left me wanting more.
Huge thumbs up. I can't wait to see what he does next.
A very fun and challenging puzzle game. These new additions are insane and add a whole new layer of puzzle to the game. Making the puzzles "3D" was such an interesting twist cool game fr
Hook 2 is a fantastic minimalist puzzle game that, although on the short side, will have you in amazement solving increasingly difficult puzzles with new mechanics thrown in the mix just when you start to master the previous. Every new mechanic builds off the last one in unique and interesting ways. In the later levels when there are so many lines to keep track of and so many things overlapping the visuals can get a little bit confusing and sore on the eyes to look at but this is a small complaint to what is a beautiful and intriguing game.
Short (between 1 hour and 90 minutes) game, relaxing puzzle, nice for its price
Wonderful sequal to a brilliant minimal puzzle game. And (maybe a little bit of a spoiler) the way this game introduces 3D is brilliantly clever.
A fine puzzle that doesn't overstay its welcome. 89 or so challenging levels that make you really think. I'm surprised that this game isn't more popular than it is; it is only a few dollars and for that cheap amount, you get many excellent puzzles that are both fun and innovative. There are many new twists that make you have to spin the layout around so that you can align two shapes or get two ends of a wire to connect. A few puzzles reminded me of some of the tiny minigames in the Room series of having to align a 3D image just so; I believe that if you enjoyed that series, you will really appreciate "Hook 2!"
It's easier than the first game -- which isn't necessarily good or bad, just information. Keep an eye out for a big twist a few levels in :)
It's a mobile game and yet it's unplayable on a laptop with a (stronger) integrated graphics card, so this port seems somewhat questionable.
The developer is unresponsive.
Overall, a cute chore simulator with a couple of nice ideas. About 1.5 hours of gameplay, where only the second half of the levels are actually compelling, barring the last few levels which are more tedious.
It would probably be better to buy this game on mobile, if you're really into this kind of game.
Another great (affordable!) puzzle game!
The music and ambience reminds me a little of Manifold Garden, maybe because of the colour scheme, and provides a wonderful puzzle-solving zen atmosphere.
Love it. Great way to spend an afternoon!
Just when I thought the previous installment was amazing, this one gets made. Building on top of existing mechanics, an exciting new one has been added. If you crave the additional challenge of three dimensions, give this game a try.
Holy crap, it got me hooked again!
These 86 levels are very enjoyable, even though they don't take a long time. Perfect for a relaxing puzzle game session.
The game is $2 full price, but think this is more worthwhile picking up in the bundle of other games.
I didn't expect the 3rd Dimension aspect of this game, and it was executed very well.
My only complaint was that the levels didn't get complicated enough fast enough, and the sound effect for joining the two lines got super annoying really fast.
I burned though these 86 levels extremely quickly in a little over an hour. I wish there was more
Hook 2 builds on the cathartic un"Hook"ing mechanics of the first game, except this time, it's in 3d. Hook 2 never reaches the complexity of the later puzzles in the first Hook, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth playing. What the game lacks in sheer content and difficulty, it makes up for in elegant design and visual ingenuity; this is one of the series that translates to a new dimension amazingly well. I thoroughly enjoyed my roughly two hours with the game, and I look forward to the promised additional levels that will be added to the game.
Phew that got complex at the end there, but as you can see by my playtime: short game. Had a good time with it, good enough that I'm very curious about the "more levels coming soon" screen 👀
will be better if dev gives us the ability to create workshop level
Wow! Definitely recommend! This game is leaps above to first game, which was also great! What a cool little idea for a puzzle game. Just when I thought I saw every type of puzzle video games had to offer, Maciej come around and shows me something new. The later puzzles in particular are really good. This is one of those games that gets better and better the further it goes on.
Not even two euros for about an hour of fun is well worth it in my opinion. The new mechanics are intriguing and I like the way they are introduced to you. Definitely recommended if you have a bit of patience.
Best logic game I've ever played!
Hook 2 expands the game of Hook into the third dimension. It's an incredibly impressive tech demo, and incredibly creative, but ultimately, the third dimension harms this game more than it helps it.
Moving two points together on the camera view seems incredibly clever until you realise doing this completely prevents you from viewing the result of your actions, something that was very important in the first Hook game. Mouse-based camera controls feel simple until you realise that you can never quite get the camera into the same position twice, and it feels like I'm trying to solve a puzzle while slowly falling out the side of my chair.
I really wish that I could like this game, because it shows a lot of skill and creativity. It's just not fun, IMHO.
This is Hook but in 3D and with new ideas.
I finished it 20 min faster than the first one which I do recommend too,
80+ levels. Total playing time is 40 minutes (for me). It's done really well and new mechanics are introducd in a great way.
Took about 1 hour to complete the game. Works well on Linux.
Just like the first one with some new mechanics that keep you hooked
Short, easy puzzle game with great visuals and interesting game mechanics.
More of the original game Hook, but now in 3D.
Nice polished little puzzle game. While the new spin - 3D - was at first an interesting thing, I found a bunch of levels hard to "read", because it's flat shaded (one color), so I had to keep slightly rotating the puzzle. I am not sure how to solve that issue, maybe it's considered a feature? Also "alignment connections" are a bit weird - you often have to rotate the puzzle in such a way, that you don't see hooks' interactions when you hit the ball. If I remember correctly there is around 80 levels, last dozen or so gets quite challenging. I appreciate the native Linux version, worked without any issues (Manjaro, i3wm, nvidia 2080ti, two monitors, played on a primary one at 4k). Overall a fairly good successor to the great first game.
Amazing sequel with great new puzzle elements that build onto the original. Would recommend.
What a sequel. I did not read that this installment was 3d and pooped myself. Great game.
Cheap relaxing puzzle game. The 3D twist is nice and makes it more than just a level pack for the first game, even if it makes the puzzles decrease in difficulty and increase in busy-work.
Runs well on the Steam Deck (not surprising seeing as the game isn't taxing, but figured I'd add it since there's no official verification).
If you like Hook, you'll like Hook 2. If you haven't played Hook, go play that one first, you'll need the practice before tackling the 3D puzzles in Hook 2. Runs great on Linux.
siill nice and relaxing puzzle but now in 3D!
Very good puzzle game that finds that all important balance of ease and challenge, making you feel smart and dumb at the same time.
Swallowed the hook and the line.
When's the sinker?
If you need a little activity to relax and forget everything else, this puzzle game is perfect. The difficulty increase but don't reach a mindfuck level. I play two or three levels when I want to relax, and that's great. Don't try to rush the game. Ambiance is very calm. A good game for a good price.
Definitely worth the cheap price, about an hour of playtime depending on your experience with puzzle games.
This sequel succeeds at what most sequels try, and fail, to do. Hook 2 introduces fun new mechanics while still staying true to the original.
An excellent followup to a great minimalistic puzzler.
So as someone who do enjoy playing thru the puzzles in hook 1, i bought hook 2 immediately after it is out.
I would say it is at least 80% same as hook 1 (of course different puzzles), but from what ive been playing in the last 20 min, the only new thing i found is the idea of 3 dimensional.
And if u have played hook 1 before, i think the first 50 levels wont be a big deal for you. I almost complete 50 levels within 20 min. Most puzzles and the logic behind them are mostly the same.
Welp it is hard to comment on esp i havent done the rest puzzles. (Ive heard that it got 86 levels in total?)
Anyway i still love the music and the minimalistic asethetic. It was so clean that by the first time i start playing hook 1 i tot the game itself is the start menu haha
So if u love solving the puzzles in hook 1, i would say it still worth it to buy for hook 2. (at least its not expensive at all
This game is excellent, and I highly recommend it, however I do have some criticism. I played it right after playing Hook 1, and in comparison, this game has superior visuals and feel to the first game, but lacks some of the mechanical depth of its predecessor. This game needs harder levels! I feel like it ended right when it was getting truly great. I would love to see some new optional levels which really push the limits of how hard this game could be.
Did you enjoy Hook 1?
This game is very short, I picked it up for £1.60 and it's great, really relaxing, not too hard, just nice.
if you're not a fan of atmospheric, minimalist puzzle games this isn't for you.
lovely puzzle
impresses with its variety of levels
Very nice small game. Playtime around 80 minutes at the time of writing, although at the end it said there are more levels coming.
Compared to the orignal hook, this game feels just like it, but with the additional dimension and some new puzzle elements.
Sometimes it was a bit difficult to tell different lines apart, but only in like 2 levels.
I loved Hook 1 and Hook 2 is more wonderful puzzling with a twist on the original game I wasn't anticipating! It has the same difficulty curve issue as the original, where the first 3rd of the game is far too easy, however the later puzzles more than make up for it. The minimal graphics are clean and legible (important for later in the game), and the atmosphere of the sounds and music are absolutely zen. A peaceful, occasionally brain busting puzzler, wholly worth the 2 dollars. Recommended!
This be the formula for happiness.
1 - Find a developer who makes games that make you happy (for example short, accordingly-priced light puzzle games).
2- Proceed to purchase those games.
3- Play those games.
4-Enjoy the happiness.
quick, simple puzzle game that's good fun for the time it lasts. Well made all around.
There is an audience this game is made for and I am not a part of that audience.
The game is chill with relaxing ambient sounds playing in the background as you play. However, the description is true to its word. It is minimalist, as you need minimal brain power for the puzzles. Once you hit level 60, the puzzles slow down and I was only able to complete 85 before I was bored.
The game is great, I played the first Hook on my phone all those years ago and gladly payed the price to play some more. Even at only completing 85 puzzles, I feel I got my $2 worth. So my only negative is that if you see "Puzzle" in the description and think "Challenging," you will be disappointed. Pay more attention to the "Casual" and "Relaxing" tags there. I'll complete the game another time. I do recommend for anyone who enjoys simple puzzle with a slight increase in difficulty as it progresses.
it's really good sequel to hook 1 quick and simple.
Another quick and delightful series of puzzles, as usual, from a dev that has really found their niche.
Great game. If you enjoyed the original then give this one a go.
I prefer the 2D puzzles from the prequel but still a nice game.
Very enjoyable puzzler, just as fun as the original Hook with new mechanics added. Not especially long on content at release, but also not very big in price. I felt I got good value.
Great, simple game with a few unexpected twists.
Short and sweet.
A very good sequel to Hook with awesome new mechanics!
When its on sale, its a must buy. Normal price its a good pickup.
I really liked this game! The part where the 3D is first introduced is just pure genius.
This is one of my favorite puzzle games ever. It takes the concepts from the first game and puts them on a new level. The game introduces some brand new concepts in a simple way and then escalates them to make difficult but fun puzzles. I am super excited for more levels to come out and more from the Hook series!
Great minimalist game, great price, great dev. Worth a buy.
Totally got hooked, can't wait for new levels*_*
Bought it minutes after launch, but just got to playing it. Played all the first one, just finished this one now. Great puzzle game, the 3D really makes you stop and think about it. Excited for more levels. Always worth full price.
Just like Hook. A simple but enjoyable puzzle game that will take, at the time of writing this review, around 1 hour to complete. It has a few new mechanics compare to the first game.
[EN/US] Still simple and still challenging but now in 3D and some new mechanics. It's hard to believe what they made with so little. Highly recommended
[PT/BR] Continua simples e continua desafiador, mas agora em 3D e com algumas mecânicas novas. É difícil acreditar no que eles fizeram com tão pouco. Altamente recomendado.
Literally what you see on the store page is what you get, it's not hard to see if this is your thing. There's a total of 86 puzzles.
I'm personally 5IQ when it comes to puzzle games and yet I could still have a rewarding and pleasant experience with HOOK 2, and pretty much every game I played from Macieg Targoni. For their price they're all a very worthy snack!
This is everything a sequel should be. The game innovates the solid puzzles & gameplay from the original, throwing new mechanic after new mechanic in your face until you reach some true mind-bogglers. If you enjoyed the first game or just enjoy puzzle games as a whole, this is a must have.
It was okay, Hook was better than Hook 2. I get the idea of the 3rd dimention and it was an interesting addition, but later on when you got so many long lines intermingeling and only the beige background with the grey lines, the game needs some colours, my eyes were going cross eyed trying to follow the intermingeling thin lines to the point where I a few times deemed it easier on my eyes to just guess between two lines and if I got it wrong I'd just click the other one which kinda defeats the puzzle aspect of the game.
The swivel levels from 58-68 were fun. There was a total of 87 levels and the last 30 were definitely the most interesting. It said at the end more levels coming soon so guess more might come at some point. The 87 levels took me 76 minutes.
As someone who loved the first one this just isn't as good, but it was still okay.

Overall: 9/10 If you are bored then just get this game. (I will edit my review when I'm done with the game)
Another great minimalist puzzle game from Maciej! Super relaxing. The addition of the 3rd dimension has allowed for some interesting expansions to the core mechanics and puzzle design. Definitely pick this up, even though it'll only take an hour or so to get through the 85 levels.
A great sequel to the original, both creative and innovative. Excellent value for its price, highly recommended.
I don't think I'm ready for the next, Hook 3 game, in 4 dimensions.
But I will train!!
On a serious note - I devoured first game in one go, this one is no exception. this one has ~90 levels, after finishing all of them in approximately one hour - didn't get the achievement, but more levels coming soon (finish screen told me that)!
Absolutely lovely of a puzzle game, waiting for more
Fun twist on the Hook puzzles.
Awesome! Loved Hook 1 too, but this is on another level. Hightly recommended! 10/10
What a great sequel it is! Go and grab it, you'll love every second of it!
Exactly as amazing as the first one, but this time in 3D
Hook 2 is a fun game with innovative mechanics and challenging puzzles.
It features mechanics such as 3D, wires that are connected via your perspective, connected symbols and other new features.
The game takes 60 - 80 minutes to finish but is inexpensive so its worth the money.
Great game overall would recommend to anyone who likes puzzles or Hook 1.
nice game just achievements don't work
I've played every single one of Targoni's games and this one actually made me dizzy.
It's just great and at this price you shouldn't think about it.
Mostly the same as the first game in terms of graphics, sound design and length. But it adds some genuiinely delightful new twists to its formula. (Details withheld to avoid spoilers.)
A game worth buying.
10/10 would recommend.
All the different mechanics they came up with are amazing, and I'm sure a lot of new levels will be released (and provably a lot more difficult).
I solved the current 86 levels in 50 minutes.
Lets see how you do in your first run (check in-game playtime with shift+tab).
I know the game was released a few hours ago, but Sandbox mode or a way to make and share levels with the community would be a nice addition.
I had to use my brain so much that I no longer know what's real and what's not.
there is a fly sound effect that made me turn around once, 0/10.
A sequel well done. Always a pleasure to play another great puzzler from that dev.
Wonderful sequel to the first Hook. Few really neat new mechanics. Definitely recommended!
Can't wait to buy 100 copies over the next 5 years
This game, like its predecessor, is just a joy to play. For folks who have played the original there are some new mechanics that come as a total surprise that really give this game the oh wow, that was cool factor. Its the kind of game that is challenging and relaxing at the same time. Just a brilliant little puzzle game. And the price point? It is ridiculously inexpensive. Literally a bargain at twice the price. I can not recommend the Hook series enough.
Good timekiller. 87 levels from the most simple to such where it is necessary to break the head.
Perfect sound design. The graphics are visible in the screenshots-minimalism in everything, even in the interface. Nothing extra, just start playing, everything is clear intuitively.
Excellent so far let's see how deep the rabbit hole goes
It is excellent game, I am waiting for more levels in Hook2.
that was awesome. what a great minimalistic puzzle game. it had a good flow, the gameplay had a really nice evolving into 3D. relaxing ambient sound, dark and window mode.
90 minuts pure joy and happiness.
This is a great chill puzzle game. I love the peaceful soundtrack. It is a nice game that is easy for me to pick up and set down while I am at work or to relax at home.
I think it is a great value and I plan on playing through again. I can't wait for more levels.
A relaxing puzzle game that's not hard but makes you think. It introduces new concepts at a perfect pace and is easy to understand with no instruction or help. Although I spent about 30 seconds scratching my head at level 56...
Easy-to-learn puzzler where your goal is to clear the level of all lines.
Like in the first part, you need to find the proper order to do so, because the respective line basically gets pulled backwards until it either reaches its beginning, or bumps against something.
But that's just the basic principle; the game expands upon it with new mechanisms every few levels, and eventually, levels contain multiple of these mechanisms at the same time.
Difficulty level is "quite doable". The first levels are very easy and serve to teach the principles. Later ones then use more lines in more complex patterns, requiring you to evaluate and re-evaluate the respective situation a little longer. But everything is very manageable, since you only ever have to pay attention to a few critical points and solutions overall aren't far-fetched.
In sum, the game with its 80-ish levels took me maybe 2h15 to 2h30 (the 2.7 h playtime at the time of this review is due to letting it idle in the background a few times for a short break), and at the end, there was the promise of new levels coming soon - so maybe there is a DLC to come still.
Finished Hook, saw Hook 2 for sale, knowing nothing about what was different. I actually hollered at the screen in amazement each time I got to a new puzzle solving mechanic. I don't often excitedly hoot and / or holler at games, let alone puzzle games. Fantastic stuff.
This game gave me 1.5 hours of joy.
Nice puzzle game, background music 10/10 and completely a chill game.
Great and relaxing game
Only thing I need is dark mode where the backgorund is dark and puzzle elements bright so I can play this at night
Yet another simple but engaging puzzle game from this developer.
Very satisfying 2 hours! If you're someone who loves puzzle, this is definitely on my recommendation, new and challenging hooks and nooks that allow you to see the whole thing with a whole 'nother dimension
One thing about puzzles is that they give you that great sense of achievement when you're done with it!! Can't help but feel prouda myself :D
One of the best short puzzle games I've ever played. 10/10
After not so long into the game, Hook veterans will have a big smile on their face accompanied by a sincere "Motherfu*ker".
Ps: Don't forget that there is a "Dark Mode"!
An excellent sequel with a new twist that expands on the simple concepts of the first.
Sick Game. I got instantly hooked!
A simple puzzle game with more mechanics than the first game. It just needs more levels.
"Shit it's 3d!" - me who thought it's just another hook game with more levels, 2022
As always with this developer, we got a decent minimalistic puzzler. It took me about 80 mintues to finish. At first it's simple enough that I was breezing through levels while listening to a YouTube video essay, but I had to give up that distraction even sooner than I expected. There's also a fun little reveal of sorts early into the game. I appreciate the inclusion of a dark theme, but the game could also do with proper volume controls instead of just a mute button.
If you liked Hook, you'll enjoy Hook 2.
The addition of a third dimension to create complexity in puzzles led to much less frustration on my end compared to some of the other gimmicks this dev has traditionally used to add difficulty: unlike some of their prior titles (Naboki, Up Left Out, and even the original Hook), I didn't face any levels or gimmicks that felt like a chore to complete rather than an enjoyable experience.
Super fun and fulfilling just like 1, nothing quite like pulling a thread and watching it all get unwound. Some ridiculously clever levels, the creator is absolutely brilliant.
Two small complaints, sometimes aligning those little nodes in 3D space is frustrating, they're tiny, and being just a little bit off means it won't work. I want to spend my time thinking, not trying to make two tiny dots match up. Second, the background music, while soothing, with the breezes and outdoor sounds, sometimes had a bug fly by my ear. Not my favourite thing.
Time flew by for about 80 puzzles straight, the last ones got tough! Hook is still my favourite puzzle game, this was a worthy successor. Just amazing, well worth the two bucks.
Fun, simple and satisfying with some great ambience. A fantastic puzzle game that is short but very, very worth it.
Definitely a fun game! If you like simple yet complex puzzles, you'll love this game. If you've ever played Monument Valley and enjoyed its mind-bending physics, you'll enjoy this game.
It's also literally two dollars. Underpriced if you ask me.
Not difficult by any means, but makes you think just hard enough to make it enjoyable. Just make sure you know to click and drag to rotate the screen once you hit the 3D levels. Like its predecessor, it is another masterpiece of tranquil simplicity. Recommended.
really can't get enough of these puzzle games from this dev. although very short, they're priced accordingly. the minimalistic nature of hook 2 makes it easy to instantly learn, though later levels will have you scratching your head at times while you work backwards to find the solution. overall, a nice little game that any fan of logic puzzles can enjoy.
Great little puzzle game. The 3D adds an immersive perspective solving these creative puzzles.
Didn't watch any trailers or anything for this, just bought it as soon as I noticed it came out because I loved the first game. The extra mechanics were a very nice twist for me! Incredibly relaxing and some good fun.
simple in style and elaborate in puzzle
Every Maciej Targoni game is a little masterpiece of brilliant simplicity, and Hook 2 is no exception. I think the best thing one can say about a puzzle game is that it's fair -- which is a long way from saying it's easy.
Even once the puzzles are solved, these games retain their replay appeal due to the design, both audio and visual. No clock to fight against, just you and the game.
Absolutely recommended.
Sheer class. The puzzles are innovative and rewarding. Eureka moments everywhere.
Maciej's games never disappoint. Hook 2 is yet another easy-to-like, not-so-hard-to-master little puzzle game with some good ideas, some genuinely cheerful moments (like the introduction of the... game's central theme, let's say that), and some excellent level design. It's not a long game, and careful application of systematic logic will always get you to the solutions, usually sooner than later, but somehow the game remains engaging until the end. There's got to be a secret ingredient in these puzzlers :)
Great little game, with fascinating and devious puzzle design. Well worth getting.
Brilliant puzzles, as always. I'd like orbit-style rotation of 3D puzzles, instead of free rotation.
I really enjoyed Hook, and Hook 2 is even better. It doesn't offer just new levels (which would have been fine by me); it cleverly expands the original concept, while still staying true to it.
More Hook, just as good as the first, and now in 3D
My brain is now a slushy, and I couldn't be happier. Really fun puzzles that do a great job of teaching you with no words at all, and a perfect difficulty curve.
A delightful little puzzle game that feels a bit like unraveling a ball wires. Its well crafted and only 2 bucks. Maybe give it a try.
Another amazing game by Maciej Targoni, but it feels like it has wasted potential in it's current state, even though all of the later levels involved the 3D element of moving the camera to complete circuits, all of the complicated levels still only had 2D wire arrangements, meaning all 90ish levels can be completed well under an hour. I can't wait to see the levels which will later be released to incorporate every new mechanic in one. But overall this game is an amazing successor to Hook and is still more than worth the price in it's current state.
I played the first game a few years ago and was positively "hooked" as they say.
I really like the adittion of the 3de puzzle aspect to this game and i'm looking forward to the next batch of levels as they drop.
Nice game, do recommend
