5/10 not bad but a very short experience with no threat until the ending and by that point it's already decided.

Another gem from Chilla's Art! Same aesthetic, same mechanics, same short story experiences. If you liked previous titles, then you will certainly like this one!

It's a walking simulator but scary.

Keeping it short and sweet, since a lot of people are already familiar with both Chilla's work and the "PS1 Horror" style.
I really enjoyed the tense atmosphere, it doesn't inundate you with the jumpscares, and the ending definitely delivered on some pretty good spooks.
Controls worked fine, audio was fine, and no bugs/glitches.
Recommending for both casual players and indie horror fans.

Except for the very slow walking, which is typical for their games, it's another nice and short Japanese horror experience from Chilla's art. It's a walking simulator. Nothing tough about it. I liked Convenience Store abit more, maybe because there wasn't much done to make the tunnel scarier. The car that suddenly drove off was a good one though.

It's been a while since I played this, but I want y'all to know that this absolutely made me crap my pants in the best way. I found myself constantly on edge while exploring every inch of this horrible tunnel and its dark and spooky surroundings. A short, but extremely atmospheric and well-designed horror game based on Real Events™ with some replay value if you dare to try and collect all achievements. Absolute recommendation!

Not terrible, but not the best in the Chilla's Art catalog. While I usually love the VHS filter, I felt like this was so...filter-y...that it was distracting. It was incredibly hard to see, even with the brightness turned all the way up, and even sprinting felt unbearably slow.

Recommending this one simply because it held my interest for a decent amount of time. I like this one the least of the 3 other I've already played. The Convinience Store, Stigmatized Property and Okaeri were all better in my opinion, but I don't think it's a bad horror game necessarily. It had it's moments...

It just had too much walking for my taste and most of the time spent is walking through a dull and lifeless tunnel. It also encourages you to play it more than once to get the full experience, but it becomes less and less scary each time you play it. (In my case I did so 4 times to get all the achievements. In one of these I got lost in the woods searching for my axe since I didn't pay attention, I had to restart and put my axe somewhere more sensible )

There's one puzzle that was kinda mind bendy and though it's certainly clever and easy to figure out... if you play it at 12PM at night you might end up drawing the wrong conclusion and getting stuck for almost an hour. Fun...

One of my favorite Chilla's Art games - like the other games, it's pretty linear (find stuff, solve puzzles, move on) with a found footage vibe.

The atmosphere is pretty creepy, and I love how it's based on a legit place. Some of the imagery in the game is basically exactly what you see if you google Inunaki Tunnel/Village.

We love a creepy game with background depth, atmosphere and a good price

It's a slow and painful process of "omg, what was that?" But that's what I paid for so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ kill me

If you want to buy this because Stigmatized Property and Okaeri were good for you, this will feel like garbage to you.
It is worth an approximate maximum of 49 Cents full price.

It was a bit scary, but the game world objects are so undetailled they constantly remind you you are just in a stupid little game. What also bugs me is that you cannot finish the story without the script actions. Why would any person in the world be unable to climb a fence? I found stuff and uninteresting information at the cemetary after the tunnel but it was boring and I just wanted to quit instead of tweaking the clock's hands in the middle of the structure. The story with the dog is so boring. Either confront me with scary stuff or the overghost or just threaten me hard but let me finish stuff. Why do these games lock up the players in shit without any further progression? If you let me climb that fence, which only is impossible for fat Burker King U.S. Citizens, but not for Europeans or Asians - who are a bit thinner and sportier by lifestyle default - I at least would have achieved to finish this little crap game. But so, it is lurking uninstalled in my library without the option to refund, because I bought it thousand years ago...

Inunaki Tunnel is my second Chilla's Art experience and have to say this one didn't do nearly as much for me as my first, The Convenience Store. We return to the hallowed halls of post-Silent Hill 2 desolation, Puppet Combo filter grain and a vaguely elaborated story as we enter the shoes of a student with a camera trying to strike gold making a horror video for his upload channel as he visits a real locale in Japan shrouded in violent, foggy history.

The material for a good, short horror romp is all here but the elements don't sit and gel as well as my other two Chilla's Art playthroughs. The game's dark....too dark, even with your lightsource and messing with the in-game settings. The first half is sprinkled with light puzzling and fetching carried on the weary legs of one of the slowest walk/run speeds known to man. In TCS this aspect added to the lingering dread of walking to your job in the dead of night. Here, I just feel like I'm fat and lazy. Our hero must spend a lot of time in his dorm eating 20 bags of chips a night while guzzling enough beer to knockout an army platoon to have such anvils in his shoes. It's slow, tedious, hard to see where you're going and just not a whole lot of fun.

To the game's credit it gets better in the second half with a switch in scenery settings, the usual Chilla's change-up that features some different events to get the different ends, the only other "character" you'll encounter and a little bit in the way of actual threats/tension. It helps but not enough to make the grade. The atmospheric weirdness doesn't have the variety of TCS or Stigmatized Property and the results are a well-meaning if sadly vacant experience that doesn't sustain tension. I do commend the developers for consistently trying new topics and ideas for their games, just too little happens in the first half. I could totally see them doing an interesting, experimental anthology type package along the lines of Stories Untold at some point in their career!

I know some folks really liked this one but it didn't engage me enough to keep me interested. I usually play every game I get at least twice but I felt this one to be a slog on first try and a total chore the second time through. It's cheap though, like all of the company's games, so you can't lose too much if you try it and don't like it.

If anyone wants to see a sample of gameplay before buying, I did a playthrough of this over on Youtube - see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIQWk_CrkkE&list=PL05Yc3_TEBpMctKmcS54H…

This is the third Chilla's Art horror game I've played, and it occurs to me that until today I haven't posted a review for it. Like the other two Chilla's Art games I've encountered (The Convenience Store and Stigmatised Property) Inunaki Tunnel shares a lot of similarities. Most notably the grainy VHS-style graphics, which really help to set up the atmosphere.

Like the two other games I just mentioned, Inunaki Tunnel is loosely based on Japanese urban legends; in this case, the whole Inunaki village myth (about a supposed village in Japan, only accessible by a spooky tunnel, where the law has no reach and terrible things happened). The game is dark and dripping with atmosphere. I always like a horror game that can rely on atmosphere instead of jump-scares; whilst Inunaki Tunnel does have a few jump-scares, they don't detract from the experience, in my opinion.

The movement speed is on the slower side, similar to other Chilla's Art games - so it is a bit of a walking sim. Nonetheless, this wasn't a problem for me. Only at the end of the game is there an actual threat; for the most part, this is one of those horror titles which lets you amble at your own pace, soaking in the atmosphere of dread.

Overall, I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Since I am a huge fan of “casual horror” games and especially Chilla’s Art I am most definitely biased, hence my recommendation of this little gem. I will not be longwinded; buy the game and play it (the secret ending, which should be renamed creepy ending according to me, is worth it).

Aside from technical issues, it's an alright game. Plenty spooky your first play through. For the price don't go in expecting much but for what it was, it was creepy, interesting, and did a good job of making me feel paranoid as I searched around.

I got really frustrated at this game while trying to get all endings and achievements.
I literally read a walk through and wore headphones so I could hear the dog better.
But I can't see frigging nothing in the darkness, flashlight is no use for light, there is no dog, only sounds of it.
I was just blindly walking around the forest area and trying to find the dog and the notes etc that are needed for the hidden achievements. But no.

Really loved this psychological, based on a true story, horror. I'm a sucker for tense atmospheres and asian folklore, it really gets to me.
Not being a big jump scare fan, the few that were in this were well timed and the sound design was disturbing making you feel uneasy and watched.
There's no combat, but for me that makes the atmosphere heavier. Combat usually snaps me out of that psychological dread.

It's about an hour's play if you take your time & tip: definitely check out the 1st phone box ;)

There are 3 endings from what I've gathered, but I only got the bad one so far.

If you like horror I recommend you do the following:
- Turn off all lights and your other monitors
- Headphones are a must have!
- Turn the volume up enough so you can hear everything
- Keep Gamma low so your flashlight becomes your best friend

Enjoy alone in the darkness of your room with only the ingame sounds

I really liked this game! If you want a reason why go play it yourself because I don't wanna spoil anything!

3/5, an acquired taste
low poly graphics & filter give this game fantastic atmosphere, but the gameplay consisting of searching for objects in barely lit stages gets slow really fast... if you have the patience the graphics and atmosphere make it worth it and the developers are smart enough to build tension rather than throw jumpscares willy nilly

tootstorm
tootstorm

Level design is the weaker aspect here, leaning far too much into bland, slow, plodding walking down too-straight or too-open paths. Neither the tunnels or the woods settings hold up as well as the neighborhood settings in Chilla's Art's other games.

Inunaki Tunnel has you visiting the real life setting after hours, video camera in hand and hoping to make it famous (c. 2005 Internet famous). It's a short, ~45 minute ride start to finish. The horror is a bit more muted than their other games, and there are very few segments where you genuinely will expect anything scary to happen. When the scary stuff happens, though...! Let's just say the secret ending scared the hell out of me. Let's also just say I recommend always going off the beaten path -- and that includes helping the poor doggo.

I love this dev team and their work. I love that they put out these consistently tight short horror stories as cheap ~$3-5 games, always based on Japanese folklore (w/ touches of history, too!). None of them are masterpieces by any means, but they're worth the price of admission, easily. Always unique and creative.

Stop reading this and buy one of their games. Of the four I've played, the Convenience Store or Stigmatized Property were probably the tightest, though this comes pretty close if not for the plodding walking sections. It also lacks the horror for much of the game, but I honestly can't tell if that is real or just me getting used to Chilla's Art's style of spoops so I know what is and isn't a threat.

completed not long after 'stigmatised property'. atmosphere is equally palpable, area much larger, fairly linear, puzzles similarly straight forward, aesthetically kiss kiss. achievement wise provided double the endings which me likey, and a few reasonable story collectables. happy to play 'the convenience store' next. the unique & compact nature of 'stigmatised property' remains top.

Inunaki Tunnel is an atmospheric horror game from Chilla's Art that balances between adventure and walking simulation. The players takes the roll of a blogger in 1995 hoping to capture evidence of paranormal activity around Inunaki Tunnel and Inunakidani Village in Japan. Throughout the game, the player will explore the environment (to the extent one's nerves will allow), solve light puzzles, and read several notes relating to the history of the area.

Inunaki Tunnel is 95% atmosphere and 5% gameplay. As seen in the advertisement video, the game adopts a 90's-era low-resolution VHS recording. This audio-visual aesthetic is remarkably well-done for what the game is. This style works well to elicit atmospheric immersion as the player gets the sense that they are experiencing everything the character experiences. While the graphics could better meet modern standards, the video-recording visual style brings another haunting layer of tension to the player's experience.

Beyond the visual style, the Inunaki Tunnel also achieves its delicious atmospheric horror by putting the player in a dark world in which the feeling of being watched is constant. From the moment the player starts the game, the Tunnel is utterly uninviting. As the player progresses, the feeling of being unwelcome shifts to the dread of being hated.

Inunaki Tunnel is a real place in Fukuoka Prefecture. While there are relatively few visual representations of what the Tunnel and Village looked like, what information is available is accurately represented in certain parts of the game. Having a real-world setting in conjunction with the recording-video aesthetics gives the player nicely authentic gaming experience.

The game is very short - about 20-50 minutes per playthrough. This is obviously negative is the time-per-dollar ratio. However, the game never wears out its welcome as many other horror games do. Inunaki Tunnel wants to give the player a glimpse into a certain interpretation of a haunting. It accomplishes this and doesn't try to do anything more. Players should not expect a detailed, engaging storyline.

Inunaki Tunnel is highly recommended for fans of atmospheric horror games. Its effective use of an alternative visual aesthetic with brief glimpses into authentic Japanese lore will give players a unique experience.

I went into this video-game not expecting much. I finished it (100%) about three hours later feeling goosebumps all over.

For the price of admission, I've seen worse Japanese horror films that had costed me five times more to own on DVD.

Seven out of ten; would spill a bowl of popcorn all over my keyboard again.

INUNAKI TUNNEL

Rating: Good
100% Time: 1 1/2 hours
Genre: Horror/Walking Simulator
Quick Summary: Another relatively standard horror game by Chilla's Art, while it doesn't do anything different from it's siblings it's short game length and creepy story mean there's no reason to not play this if you're a horror fan and have some spare time on your hands.

Positives

    • Much like the other games this developer has made, 犬鳴トンネル features a creepy insight into Japanese folklore. While it's story isn't original it is interesting and the notes scattered around the game show great insight into a fictional world of Eastern horror.
    • The game is very short and can easily be completed in one sitting, so playing it at night before going to bed is easily the best way to enjoy this game
    • The achievements are all incredibly easy and only require 3 playthroughs.

Negatives

    • Like the other games, this starts off with that god awful grainy filter making it almost impossible to see everything, and changing the brightness either washes everything out or makes it impossible to see anything.
    • There's only a few real scares in the game (2-3) and all of them are jump scares. If you're a fan of psychological horror, this isn't that.

Overall thoughts while playing: "Holy hell this is dark", "Why am I moving so slowly?", "What the hell am I doing?"

Balanus Trigonus
Balanus Trigonus

It's a short and finely crafted experience. The atmosphere is nice, I love the VHS stylization and most of the surrounding sound effects. I can't help but note that some places are really quite scary. Mythological story behind all the spooks is a nice addition, although some interesting questions are sadly left unanswered.
Visuals — 8/10
Story — 6/10
Audio — 7/10
Gameplay — 4/10

Overall — 6/10

Perhaps my favourite of Chillas Art's games that I've played so far. Great use of sound and lack of light. As with a majority of the best horror stories it is about what your own mind creates in order to fill in blanks, both when it comes to the visuals as well as the written words.
Like with all of Chillas games it has a supreme build up, you are rewarded with exploring, and the timing on some of the scares is impeccable (SPOILER ALERT! Looking at you white van, phone booth, the Bad Ending END SPOILER ALERT).
Just remember to turn the brightness all the way up, tweak the mouse sensitivity and turn off the film grain and you're good to go.

So far I've played 4 games of Chilla's Art production; Stigmatized Property, The Ghost Train, The Convenience Store and this one right here. I got to say, this one does hold to expectations- I was shedding sweat and tears throughout playing it, feeling pure terror at times. Had to open up some Indian meme music to get past some parts like the shaking van we had to retrieve the axe from. All in all this one was a good ride, has 3 different endings- all worth to be seen; though I recommend you to play The Ghost Train and The Convenience Store firstly rather then this, as the two games mentioned has more weight to them both in gameplay and plot-wise. I'd say go with this one after getting familiar with this "series" of games.

This is my second experience with a Chilla's Art game, the first being 'The Convenience Store'. I wanted a similar experience, and I got it.

This time, you play as a guy who is going exploring so he can be the first to get footage of whats inside Inunaki Tunnel. It's dark, creepy and plenty atmospheric. I got surprised by some fun little jumpscares every now and then, and replayed the game to 100% completion to see all the endings.

My favourite ending was the 'surprise' ending, as it lead me to explore more and piece together the story. Yes, despite the short length of the game it has a little story to uncover - you do this by finding notes in the environment. It's pretty cool, nothing amazing but I thought it was neat.

I recommend this game, it's short and I had no problems replaying it for the multiple endings. It's a cool, creepy experience.

There are a few things that I love about this game:

- Longer than expected -- it is still a relatively small game, but there is a lot of time you can spend with it if you explore mindfully.
- You can only carry one item at a time, so you have to consider what is important to carry. Some might find this an annoyance; for me it increased the tension greatly because, in this kind of game, you can tell that it is important what you pay attention to and what you ignore. I carried the doll everywhere out of fear. At the end, I held onto it for comfort.
- If you go into the game blindly, it is hard to tell what the danger in the game will end up being. I did not know what to be scared of in the game, so I ended up being scared of most everything. I spend the first part of the game scared of the tunnel itself (and the doll) and the last part of it terrified that a dog was going to bite my legs off (the doll was fine to me at this point. I left her in nice spots to keep watch while I explored).

Definitely not one of Chilla's Art's best, probably because it's one of their older games. If you're new to Chilla's Art, I'd recommend a few other titles - such as The Convenience Store, Stigmatized Property or The Ghost Train - over this.

That being said, the atmosphere here is typically creepy and dread-filled, with a suitably unsettling location - a tunnel that is said to be the location of numerous deaths. There are a few simple puzzles and item-finding quests during the hour-long playthrough, plus three endings (CA are always awesome when it comes to replayability!).

I think my biggest issue with the game was the inventory management. You can only carry one item at a time, forcing you to drop items and have to remember where they are. There aren't enough items in the game for this to be a real problem, but it is a bit of a pain backtracking. It's also a VERY dark game - even on the brightest setting - making some of the areas excessively difficult to navigate.

The other thing worth mentioning is that - in my opinion anyway - I felt less tense playing this than most of CA's other games. I didn't get the same feeling of uneasiness that I did from some of the other titles I listed. It felt like there were long periods where nothing was really happening. Maybe that's just me.

Even so, it's a solid entry in CA's portfolio, and if you're a fan of their games you will no doubt enjoy this one too - and, for a couple of quid, I'd say it's worth the couple of hours it will take for you to 100% it.

Inunaki Tunnel is personally one of the best entries into Chilla's Arts games and if you wanna play more I would play this one. Th game is simple, to walk down a linear path across the real Inunaki Tunnel. An actual place said to be haunted and blocked to the public and you cross the line to explore the tunnel. The game is divided into multiple places and its paths The entrance and the main tunnel, followed by a roadblock followed by another tunnel then a graveyard then a forest and finally the Buddhist Area followed by the end of the tunnel. There are two collectibles to collect, one being a bunch of Origami letters filled with the lore behind the tunnel and Jizo Statutes meant for one of the game's endings. one Gripe I have with the game is the lighting, I understand this is during the night and you only got your flashilight to use but some sections like the forest is a little frustrating if you lose your path and get lost because your flashlight is not bright enough. I also like how short it is making this one of the shorter games to play from Chilla's Arts lasting normally an hour to 15-20 minutes if oyu know what your doing. I also like the creepy atmosphere with this one with things as simple as extra footsteps and things moving on their own or things that appear that werent there either. Overall by Chilla's Arts Standards I give Inunaki tunnel a solid 8/10

DepressyImpressy
DepressyImpressy

45/100

This was basically a walking in the darkness sim. You walk in the dark, find something, see something slightly discomforting and then you move through some more darkness. That was it. The ending was pretty obnoxious, in my opinion.

PROS:
You see creepy stuff.
You're alone in the game, so that's scary I guess.

CONS:
You walk a lot through darkness, searching for obscure items.
Scares are so few you get bored super quickly.
Items are annoyingly obscure and you'll spend even more time bored in the dark.
Movement is slow and exhausting.
The camera recorder feature literally yields no advantage, so it's just obnoxious.

The game had a really good set up. I was definitely interested, but I got so bored walking through the forest looking for SOMETHING. I have no problem doing this when the objective or stimulus to keep you interested. Instead, you spend most of your game waiting on something to happen. There was literally like two memorable moments form this game and one of them was because I was so annoyed looking through the temple grounds.

4/10

Decent short horror game with 3 endings (Good, Bad, and Secret). My first playthrough took about 50 minutes to fully explore the map, while finding and completing everything.

The only big complaints I have are how dark the game is, which made it difficult to find some of the smaller, more obscure items (while the yellow marker that's displayed above an intractable object did help slightly, it only pops up when close and can be easily missed), and the lack of scares (until the end, and depending on the ending you achieved) left me a little disappointed and made walking through the dark tunnels start to seem like a chore after a while.

That being said, the devs did an amazing job setting the atmosphere, and even without the encounters I still found myself looking over my shoulder, and felt like I was being watched or followed throughout the entirety of my first playthrough. With the game being completely silent save for the wind, water dripping, your own footsteps, and the occasional sound that could only have been caused by another living (or not living) creature, it made me feel truly alone, and wanting to be aware of my surroundings at all times.

The replay value is low if you don't care for getting all the endings, but overall it was a nice little adventure, and if you're looking for a cheap short and spooky experience this game can fulfill that desire.

I absolutely loved this game! It may seem a little slow while walking in the tunnels, but there are quite a few things to do in this game in the other areas. There are also many things you don't necessarily have to do that will completely change the ending, so it is definitely not just a "walking story", it is fully interactive and the ending changes depending on your actions. Would definitely recommend! I even went back through a few times to get all the endings! Here's some game play with my first ending if you wish to see: https://youtu.be/NvyqcF82Rzk

Interesting urban legend.
Recommended if you're into this kind of stuff.

not as good as some other chilla's art games. the pacing's a little slower and the game is a bit too dark. still has decent spooks and atmosphere so i recommend but don't let this be your first game from the devs.

While "Secret Ending" nearly made the whole playthrough worthwhile, the game itself is a little disappointing and it's my least favorite Chilla's Art game so far. Face recognition in your camera is quite a buggy gimmick and not much would change if it wasn't in-game at all. Walking around is rather tedious and uneventful, there's little to nothing in terms of the sound ambiance so the whole atmosphere is not as thick as it should be in a game about being alone in a creepy dark tunnel and forest at night.

There's doggo though.

I played "Stigmatized property " and "The Convenience Store" liked both of them and decided to buy whole bundle.
this is 4th game i Played from it ( Okaeri is shit).
Look to be honest this game might not be like in- your- face -scare ( like EMIKA GAMES) rather its much more subtly told story with unease in it.
All these game are based on japanese folklore which i like the most. ( in fact i m most horrified when a small girl come in front of me having dark black hair in her face with white skin.- in real life or any game ).
Great sound.
Still it send a shiver down to ur spine. must play game...!!!

You can't go wrong for the price. While it's a very linear game, things are a bit more hidden and harder to figure out compared to The Convenience Store. Both are really fun, quick horror games that don't overstay their welcome or rely on the same gimmicks over and over like the YouTube fodder this genre is filled with.

My play time is longer because I idled quite a bit. The game is beautifully done, and once again Chilla does not disappoint. The use of atmosphere, along with ambient sounds make it quite creepy. I definitely recommend this game!

Enjoyable little horror, with a runtime of about 45 minutes.
It's very minimalist, and especially stingy with its light sources, but there's just about enough direction that the puzzles you encounter and must resolve to progress should not take you too long to find or to solve.
It's light on the scares, but heavy on the atmosphere, to the extent that when I heard a seemingly normal everyday sound later on in the game, which I won't state what it is for fear of spoilers, but it gave me a real solid chill down my body given what I had read to that point.
Recommended.

I watched a whole bunch of haunted Japanese car/tunnel/mountain movies earlier this year, so let's just say the atmosphere hit me really hard really fast. In fact, I noped so hard at a certain point I looked up a guide to get me past something because I just didn't feel safe exploring anymore.

It's a pretty short and sweet game. I'm not sure how well it holds up to scrutiny, but at the same time a lot of the inexplicable stuff just makes it feel more unsettling.

This and Okaeri makes me wish Steam had an 'its aight' button, between Okaeri and Stigmatized building, it stands firmly in the middle, it's a bit more engrossing than the former with a legitimately spooky setting but lacks the scares of the later, which is a shame.

In this game you have a camera with face recognition but it's criminally underused, there are a few tricks here and there and two really good moments, but it ends up being a wasted opportunity, in fact, that's what I think about the whole game, you have really scary place but there is just nothing going on, the game builds this whole tension and it leads nowhere, when things start to get interesting, it just ends.

I cannot recommend this game on it's own, but, definitely give it a chance in a bundle or during a sale, after all, despite the fact that I felt underwhelmed, it's still a game where the devs dare to set their own pace and try their own thing, plus, it's always nice to explore Japanese urban legends.

I would write this off as being one of Chilla's earlier games, but Stigmatized Property was released right before Inunaki Tunnel & that one was one of my favorites. This game is just SO DAMN DARK, it turns into a trial & error nightmare of stumbling around in the dark with nothing happening. The story and puzzles don't really align whatsoever, there are few if any hints as to what you are looking for. There are many better games from Chilla's Art. I would only recommend this if you have played through the majority of their catalog and you're curious. I would consider this to be a bad first impression.

A great J-horror game, like most J-horror games, it's a slow burn but was great for exploration and using the camera added some "Outlast" type elements to this.

Wandered around in the dark for a while, met a dog, called a ghost an asshole for hurting the dog, got hit by a car. Strictly speaking not the worst bumble-around-the-woods-at-night simulator I've ever seen, but I took away absolutely nothing from this experience aside from eye strain.

I love the games these developers produce, they are short but that's totally fine and with a wimp like me it's the perfect amount of spookiness. Also, I didn't know that the Inunaki Tunnel was a real place and discovered that through this game, gave me a nice little dose of spooky facts so that was cool.

A very dark and compelling game. Not extremely difficult but it's all about the pacing and the ambience. The old graphics, the sound work and the intriguing story, based on real events, will immerse you in a very special atmosphere. Try it, you'll like it.

Inunaki tunnel is one of the few Chilla's Art games id say id recommend. its not Great, or super different than its siblings, but its just Better enough to make the cut

the gameplay is simple, but there is a distinct point n click/fetch quest sorta puzzle aspect that i enjoy, some of them requiring a legitimate bit of thought (not a lot by any means, but a bit). the atmosphere is still just left of actually being scary, and is more just Creepy with the horror falling flat, but its also more... pleasant than others imo- maybe its just that i like that its outdoors, idk. the story is also comparatively interesting, and includes some obvious inspiration from real life rumors and lore, though it's been turned into something unique for the sake of the game- though once again maybe i just enjoyed the fact that it made me google Inunaki tunnel and read a few blurbs.

it's a cheap game, it was a decent way to kill some time, and it made me look up something that i ended up finding fairly interesting. all things considered, id recommend

(p.s. you should look up the real Inunaki tunnel and village. its overall pretty neat, and there is a point in your reading where you will reach a story of a murder, and while it is tragic, it will also be one of the most wild stories you will ever read- the victim might have been the most near-indestructible man on earth)

This is probably the scariest of the Chilla's Art games I've played so far (I've played 5-6 so far). The emphasis in this game is on a terrifying, unsettling atmosphere rather than more narrative-driven gameplay. It's a great concept, having some kid head into the tunnel, which is 100% haunted, armed with only a camcorder. While some of the puzzles lost me, and I certainly wouldn't have gotten the good ending without a helpful YouTube speedrun, it's very thrilling and disturbing. Definitely much better to play this as a game than to brave the real thing overnight! While it's not Chilla's Art best game (The Closing Shift takes the cake for me), it is the most frightening, especially when you're wandering through the tunnel and some unexplainable noise or phenomena erupts next to you. And for the generous price, it's definitely worth a go, even if it's a couple hours of gameplay at most. One playthrough was enough for me (too scary to go back in), but there are multiple endings if you're daring enough to return.

After playing their two older games (apartment and okeari?) And kinda dumping on them a little bit I have to say they've definitely improved in this one. Some elements still seem a bit unclear and storytelling is a bit confusing unless you literally explore every bit of the environment. But I'm looking forward to their other games and reviewing them.

I played for like 30 minutes when I got stuck trying to inspect an object. I tried everything but I had to restart the game and since it doesn't save your progress, I had to start all over.

6/10. Relatively simple and straightforward, yet very intriguing and atmospheric. The environments are consistently creepy, the gradual storytelling through optional notes found in various locations works pretty well and adds to the mystery, the overall feeling of solitude and vulnerability hits rather hard.

The biggest problems the game has are probably with the puzzles. Some of them are just too simplistic, which might have been forced by the straightforwardness of the overall tunnel-based design. On the other hand, some of the exploration needed to find certain items and progress can be a bit too vague and confusing (although it's definitely not quite as bad as it could've been).

In the end, Inunaki Tunnel is a really interesting experience, even if it doesn't quite live up to its potential.

Game's kind of lame for a Chilla's Art. Yet another predictable and creepy atmosphere with no real scary stuff kind of game. No save function either. Play through multiple times and get different endings. Kind of like a big pythagoras switch. I nearly fell asleep through the first playthrough. It has it's moments but I can't recommend this over other games from the publisher that are way scarier.

I really liked this one. It has all the ingredients of a good Chilla's Art game. A creepy atmosphere, lots of exploration (in urban, abandoned environments no less, a personal favorite theme of mine), some genuinely good scares and multiple endings. Yes, walking can become a bit tedious after a while and one of the puzzles was confusing to the point I had to look up a guide to get through it. But still, there was real effort made into the game and I'd love to see more games like this popping up!

At this price you could do a lot worse.

Not to say that this short game isn't also very good, because it is also very good. It's got a lot of atmosphere which will leave you on the edge of your seat scanning the shadows waiting for a jumpscare that may never come! It's based on an urban legend about a real place, so before or after, look up the real Inunaki Tunnel and get some further background to this fantastic setting.

Give Inunaki Tunnel a go if you're into suspense and atmospheric analogue horror.

Pros: Well Made, Great Atmosphere, Good Scares, Multiple Endings, Puzzles, Secrets
Cons: Interact With Everything, Can Be Time Consuming, Easy To Miss Interactions, Slow Movement

Another game from Chilla's Art collection, Inunaki Tunnel is a fun game that's all based on ambiance! It is easy to see that this a simple and small project made by these two. However what is great in atmosphere lacks in everything else. While the game is simple & fun there's not much going on beside a few simple spooks. However what the game does best in is in the two endings that aren't the bad ending however to find the other two can be quite difficult. All in all the game isn't meant to be high quality or perfect its a small project mad for fun and experience!

Action: 1/5 ~ This gets a 1 just for the bad ending & secret ending can be intense!
Comedy: 0/5 ~ There isn't much for comedy here was made purely for spooks!
Drama: 1/5 ~ The lore behind Inunaki Tunnel is taken from the myth of the real Inunaki Tunnel however the story is told by 8 Notes so there isn't much in storytelling or drama behind it!
Horror: 3/5 ~ While there is a few spooks, intense chase sequences & the atmosphere there isn't much horror going on.

Casually ~ B
Critically ~ C-

Inunaki Tunnel is definitely the lowest rating I've given on a Chilla's Art game, it was still fun and spooky at times! It's very clear this was either a extremely simple low budget project or one of their first games and you can't blame them beyond that! Regardless the game is only $3 I suggest you get it if you want some fun otherwise this might not be for you!

Standard Japanese Urban Legend.
Protagonist exploring ruined tunnel and mysterious village in the dark for the sake of Fame.
Chinese phrase of ' 作死 ‘.
View from a camera len similar to that of DreadOut.
Sense of easily lost in the darkness within the tunnels and faint pathings.

Sprinting Simulator.
Collection of information notes, visiting shrines and few interactions to uncover and solve few simple puzzles.
Ambiance, dark atmospheres and prep for 'Jump Scares '.

Game requires at least three playthrough for unlocking different endings.
Short session, gradually simpler and faster for subsequent runs.

As usual, complain would be too short too simple,
Decent experience for the low price.

After my good experience with "Stigmatized Property" following a poor one with "Convenience Store", I felt confident about this one. A creepy tunnel, with who knows what on the other side? Sounds pretty good, right?

The story suffers from Convenience Store's plot-by-notes storytelling, and if you don't pick up any of the origami or notes you won't have any idea what's going on. It seems to center - I only got the bad ending, and I didn't pick up all the notes - on a strange village that was rumored to have a dragon in it 2000 years ago, but with the help of dogs (?) was driven off. There are strange mystical properties to the town, and the dogs act strangely about holy artifacts and shrines, enough to maim people who attempt to interfere with such relics. At some point, the town starts falling apart, with violence committed upon the villagers, and there's some sort of inhuman force at work. Other than that, I really have no clue what was going on. Mind you, I got all of this from the 5 or so notes that I picked up.

Unfortunately, the game is similar to Convenience Store in that it is full of cheap jump scares, many of which are unrelated to the plot (i.e. there's a shaking truck and a car that drives off suddenly, but that has nothing to do with the scariness at the center of Inunaki). There's so much poorly-lit forest to get lost in that your sense of unease and tenseness might even let up, and you might just be expecting the next jumpscare. For a game that has derelict tunnels, a corpse in a tree, dogs protecting the town, and a budding YouTuber about to check this all out, it's really kind of dull. I expected so much from a game that involves someone trespassing in the dead of night with a camcorder in order to capture something on film that will make them "famous".

There's just too much environment and not enough going on. The puzzles are also a bit of a failure - the clock puzzle's hint seems to indicate a complex time needs to be entered, but somehow you're supposed to know to set it to 4 o'clock, which makes sense as 4 pronounced a certain way in Japanese sounds like a word associated with death, but makes no sense in the context of the story. Meanwhile you're surrounded by a dozen gravestones with dates on them, which you would think have something to do with a puzzle? Nope. Just more set dressing. Each puzzle after that is annoyingly simple to solve.

One thing I will say I love is a recurring theme in the dev's games involving spirituality and respecting objects of faith. I feel very tense about them and know better by now that I should really right all the mystic wrongs before I finish the game, lol.

While I certainly don't enjoy this story and its cheap thrills, I love the effort and atmosphere Chilla's Art creates in their games. I'm a fan enough of Stigmatized Property to continue to play through their games and hope I hit upon something else I enjoy, however, so I'm still very much recommending the developers' work to anyone interested in indie horror games.
