Great idea for a game, but just doesn't have the polish for me to recommend. Def makes you just when Raptors come running up on you out of the bushes, but the physics and gun mechanics are lacking. Guns feel like toys. If they spent a bit more time on this, it could have been a gem. Too bad.

Ich hatte mal positiv bewertet, weil es sehr ambitioniert gestartet ist. Aber davon ist leider nix mehr übrig, das Spiel ist seit 2018 verlassen und hat noch haufenweise Bugs!

Awesome survival mode makes this game worth the price of admission. Lets hope the devs see some good return on their hard work.

I can't do anything in this game. The controls (mechanics) don't work. I've played 20 minutes and nothing does anything. The game isn't fun. Not currently. Until I see an improvement, it's just trash to me. I've already requested for a refund.

Sadly this game feels less survival and more oww wrench hurt.
this is what i mean by this. (im not saying that it said it would include but i thought it may have since its a survival)
- no food or hunger gauge
- dinosaurs are way to easy to kill
-dinosaurs can agro you from a mile away
-climbing ladders is mad stupid dawg too slow
-idk about the different types of ammo my brosef
- didnt play much so i cant say much

ONE COOL THING THO IS WHEN THE DINO BITES THE HELI I HONESTLY THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA GET AWAY

I'm not impressed... kill a bunch of dinosaurs with pistols? Maybe the ankle biters but the raptors and up nope. Clunky bow mechanics not really useable. Backback in tutorial mode glitched out and made a duplicate so I thought I was dropping it over and over but it was on my back the whole time. Played for 15 or 20 mins in mercenary mission almost done and 3 raptors all at the same time and no ammo :( When I did have ammo I just used the terrain to find a position that I couldn't be hit and shot them in the head not fun... will be refunding.

My first impressions...

I have an Oculus Rift VR set, with 2 touch controllers and 3-Sensor array.
My PC have a Core i7 5960X processor, an ASUS Rampage V Extreme MoBo, 32 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 of RAM and a couple of GTX 980Ti Nvidia cards in SLI mode.

- Want to hunt in Jurassic Park? This is for you
- Want to shoot and/or stab dinos? This is for you
- Like to explore? This is for you

So far, I like this game a lot. Great presentation, good initial tutorial, and a very atmospheric environment.

What I dislike?

- For Oculus Rift users, the position of weapons is not properly adjusted, resulting in poor aiming. Since I don't have a HTC vive, I think the vive users have a better weapon position. For a good example of proper weapon position refer to Arizona Sunshine. In this game, the weapons feel great and your aim is much better.
- It’s hard to adjust the proper virtual character size... I am a 6 ft 1 inch guy but in the game I feel like a 5 foot guy with long arms and short legs.
- The point and grab feature needs to be refined. Sometimes it’s hard to get boxes, health packs, fuel cans and ammo boxes. For some reason, maybe because the collision boxes are more finely tuned, ammo clips, knives and guns are easier to pick up.
- The sounds, especially from the Velociraptors, seem to be low quality. So far, the rest of the sounds are great.
- The prices of the items for sale seem to be high, and when you try to sell your items, the paid credits are miserable.
- Sometimes, when I look down, my body is twisted, so it’s difficult to grab or place the objects in your hands in the vest pockets.

I think I’ll update my impressions when the game gets improved.

I'm three hours into it so far (playing survival mode) and I'm really enjoying it. The game has a couple other modes which I haven't tried yet (seems to be more fps action oriented by the description), The survival mode is foraging and crafting and there is a backstory developing.
I kindof like that you are just dropped off at the island with no instructions; you have to figure out how the mechanics of the game work in order to survive. It was satisfying to finally light a fire at the cook station to roast one of those damn little dinos. I managed to elude the larger creatures so far, except for one velociraptor that snuck up on me - used up most my ammo dispatching that one.
Difficulty seems about right - at least I haven't been killed yet and managed to find enough food to keep going for a couple days.
The graphics look good and I have had no frame rate issues at all at. Impressive scenery and the dinosaurs are well done with realistic movement.
I did run into a couple of bugs - lost some gear I stored after quitting and loading a save. I also fell in a depression in the terrain that I was unable to get out of and had to restart.
Overall I'm very happy with it so far.
Oh yes, the movement is done correctly with a few options. There is Onward style locomotion (with an option for look-based movement direction for special people) plus a teleport option. There is even an option for vive trackers which I hope to try some day. This is the only game I've seen with a customizeable inverse kinematic avatar (you have a complete body, not just floating hands). With a few adjustments it worked very well just with the hand controllrers and I expect it would be amazing with the vive trackers on your feet.

[edit] devs replied immediately to my report of the storage bug, it probably will be fixed in short order.

I like this game, I think it has potential. It reminds me of ARK but with an actual story, but less dinos. That is the one thing, i wish there were more dinos in the game. I see one every so often but if there were a lot and they were all diverse. Like we'd have herbavores that didnt care about you, small dinos and not just dinos, other prehistoric chreatures. LIKE DODOS. Overall I reccommend this game, just remember, WATCH YOUR FOOD BAR!

Softcore Gaymer

Worst game of the year, absolutely terrible!!
Tons of bugs and glitches, awful graphics, dinosaurs are mostly in 2D, you can't enter 90% of the buildings unless you find a story note for each building somewhere on the island, and if you only see a T-rex, you die instantly without it even killing you.......
This shit should get banned!!!!

I thought it looked interesting, but I was wrong. I read about the clipping from other reviews, but had no idea how bad until I played. It is bad and makes the game feel like it is still in Alpha. The collision detection is pretty bad. Tried stabbing a compy, multiple times, and nothing happened, except I died. They said this game was out of early access, but you could have fooled me.

They have some interesting concepts, but I found no fun in this game. I couldn't refund it fast enough.

There's no way I could recommend this game in it's current state. Terrible hitboxes, guns disappearing, helicopter never shows up to pick me up, etc etc. Maybe later once this game doesn't feel like it's in alpha, I could recommend this. Concept is great and overall the game is all fun and all, but the amount of bugs ruins the experience completely, not to mention the sudden crashes that happen every so often.

Having read complaints about the graphics and controls I felt the need to offer my counterpoint in defense. I stopped noticing any graphical imperfections after a half hour, and the controls/feedback are about what you would expect for VR. Some games like Robo Recall on the Rift have nailed it, but those are massive flagship titles and this game isn't a distilled combat style game that deserves to be compared on those merits.

What stood out the most to me was how *complete* this game feels compared to every other VR experience I've tried. It's not an elevator ride with regurgitated levels. It's not a pricey, 2-hour one-time experience. This game has massive, expansive exploration and a pretty clear gameplay loop, with enough fun and variation to make me want to keep playing. That might be expected for a normal 2D survival game, but for an indie VR title? Pretty exceptional. You can nitpick all day, but for all that Island 359 might be rough around the edges there's literally NO other game like it as far as I'm aware.

As for the gameplay--the gunplay is standard for a VR shooter, the melee combat a little lackluster. But you get to kill DINOSAURS IN VR. Fighting and kiting T-Rexes is incredibly intense. Raptors can and WILL sneak up and freak the shit out of you. Compies will actually distract and overwhelm you while you're running for life. And in the vein of Minecraft, Terraria, etc. things get increasingly tense as you grow your bearings, pushing your limits and venturing further out. I can't wait to see what else this game has to offer as I progress. If you're looking for a game that will keep you coming back this is probably the one. You'll figure out pretty early on if it's your cup of tea.

This is my go-to VR game for relaxing after a long day. The jungle mercenary level is jaw-droppingly beautiful. I've just hunted my way through a full day/night cycle and found the different lighting conditions wonderfully atmospheric. Wait until you see your first moon-rise or survive through to your first sunrise: truly breath-taking.

This mode is very polished visually. The plants and ground cover, mottled with patchy light through the jungle canopy, are photo-realistic to all but the closest inspection. Draw distances are excellent. The game area is lovingly designed with lots of opportunity for different strategies.

I hate the graphical dumbing down of many VR offerings with polygons in evidence everywhere. This title is to me what VR should look like: utterly realistic, beautiful and engaging. I have over 30 VR titles in my library and this is the game I keep coming back to.

I personally find the gameplay just right. The compies can spot you from far off and will swarm you just when you need to be dealing with an incoming raptor pack if you don't clear an area as you go. Raptors are stealthy hunters and operate in packs, unless you carefully split one off from the pack at a time. The large herbivores are slow but are one-hit-kill adverseries that you need to keep your distance from while pouring in fire and watching out for complicating predators disrupting your attack plan.

The game is clearly still being developed. The beach level in mercenary mode is not as polished as yet. It has smooth open areas that detract from the total realisim present in all areas of the jungle level. The areas of interest that are graphically developed are worth it though, with an abandoned village, watering hole and beach base to explore. I have yet to try the survival mode option with the largest game area of all the options as I'm still enjoying the mercenary mode jungle, as you can see from my gameplay hours.

This is an indie title with AAA polish in its most developed level that leads the VR pack for graphical beauty and natural enviroment realism. I haven't seen anything else that comes close to convincingly portraying a natural world, as opposed to an aritificial enviroment, such as cities, spacecraft, etc. The occassional rough edges are out-weighed by the graphical gorgeousness and the devs are very helpful. It will only get better. Highly recommended.

Great game to play. I have read a lot of the negitive reviews. And I can say I havnt run in to any of the problems they have listed. Only issue I have with it is that it doesnt launch with steam. It launches through the oculus softwear wich makes it difficult for me to stream. (I cant put my twitch chat in to the game) But other than that slight inconvienice its an amazing game. Fun to play the survival mode is entertaining and pretty terrifying.

10/10 would pay $50+ dollars for this game.

(EDIT)

Game has pretty much been abandoned. Havnt seen a update, discussion post, or so much as a peep from the devoplers. Its a shame cause if they did some more work on it. This could have rivialed ARK or any other big game. But sadly they just stoped working on it. For this reason I am no longer recommending this game. If the devs will go back to coding and add a few more features. Like a more than 5 firearms. and more than the 6 dinos. I will change my review.

I understand that this game is early access but there were too many things I didnt like.

Firstly the movement really like the options of the different types of movement but i like locomotion movement which i discovered is a thing but only on the left hand... there should be a way for it to also exist on the right hand

Secondly while i was trying to use the left trackpad for locomotion movement i wanted to use the right for turning but if I wasnt careful i would click the center and teleport to some unexpected area making turning nearly impossible.

Thirdly the game ran terribly running anywhere caused major jitter and even some black load screens not in a transition area just wondering in the open, this may be due to it running on a hard drive and i expect it to be fixed apon release.

in its current state I cannot reccomend this game, I might buy it again in the future if it improves

I actually bought this game in early early access after the Vive purchase and I was pretty happy since the alpha version. An applause to the team, that despite many other Early access game ended as dead projects, could manage to release a final version, with improved modes and scenarios. Keep up the good work, guys! Still some minor bugs but I am confident that this product is going to be awasome after the next 1 or 2 patches :)

Oh boy do the screenshots look good. Oh boy does it look like a game from 2005 when you actually play it.

I cannot say its particularly enjoyable, pretty standard first person VR experience, I like the backpack mechanic, using guns / reloading is pretty fluid.

Its graphically pretty ugly. Voice acting is pretty awful but tongue in cheek.
I've not played that much of the game but as a VR experience or gameplay its really not interesting to me, if it was really cheap I'd .... maybe.... keep it in my library, like a few quid cheap..

Yolanda
Yolanda

Umm, not so sure why this game is getting good reviews.

Graphics are terrible, can't read any of the text ( sorry I don't have a Vive Pro ). The voice acting is super quiet, can't hear what they are saying so you crank it up but then a dinosaur walks by and it sounds all distorted and cracking.

The instructions are poor. Here's a pistol, you get like 15 rounds, which you use on a few raptors then nothing, you die when another dinosaur charges you because you don't have any ammo.

Crashes when you try to exit the game, have to kill it through task manager.

I'm sure this game will be fun someday, playing a VR Turok game has to be fun. This game still needs work tho.

Meh.

AMAZING!

Its hands down one of the most entertaining VR games, I owe. I owe bunch. Check my profile if you like.

This game has me on my toes. I have the RiFt, which I am very happy with. Especially with this game, Id be in trouble with the feet trackers for the vive. Its bad enough having just hands and swinging and hitting stuff in my 7ftx7ft play area. I want 20 by 20 lol I might be safe then. Not sure.

If you have a few VR titles, make this one of them, you wont regret it.

Great job devs.

a few bugs, but nothing game breaking.

I seem to loose my gun everysome often. and things sometimes fall into the ground. No big deal, but a fix would be nice.

Game more then makes up for its tiny bugs.

what a thrill to hear the footsteps of a gian dinosaur comming your way and all you have left is a baseball bat and 20 bullets. Hide, run, outsmart the f......r.

BRAVO DEVS! they need this on psvr.

Hotshot
Hotshot

I bought it in a sale and with 16€ I still feel kinda ripped off... the game has very cool ideas, the movement works flawelessly and it does seem to have a nice story with good enough voice acting.

BUT, it's just so very rough around the edges and in between :-(

Foliage makes no sound as you walk through. You reload with the thumb button, not by actually reloading. Gunplay is very unsophisticated and not really fun.
No info/tutorial on how to "store items" for selling or for future playthroughs, even though this game actually has a tutorial mission... wth? (right now I die and start from scratch; that's just great...)
Not sure if this is a bug or a "feature", but the "radio communication" you listen too (the helpful ally) is really crackling and sounds totally awfull!
The graphics are only mediocre. While the models and movement of the dinosaurs are quite passable, everything ingame looks "dated". Very low textures and the resolution is too low (even with everything set to max).

Right now I cannot recommend this game, but I REALLY hope that in 1-2 years this game will get finished, because with enough polish, this game could be so much fun!!!

There is no menu in game on the Island! I want to tweak the settings while playing but that is not possible without a menu. There's a menu at the start before I choose a game but what is the point of that when I cant access it while playing! To quit the game I have to exit it from Steam.

Also some of the settings doesn't look like they have any effect when I enter the Island. Graphics looks ok at the start when I turn on TXAA and turn up the supersampling to somewhere around 1.8. But when I start the game it looks as if the settings I choose did not have any effect and I get a lot of shimmering going on in the world, this looks really bad in VR! Quality on game assets and textures are also low. I've seen much better looking games in VR.

Movement also feels bad somehow and interaction with the gameworld feel clunky and unresponsive. Again there's games out there that feel a lot better in VR, like climbing ladders and just general movement i the world, it's not working like I have come to expect from other VR games. And when I hit something in the gameworld with my weapons they just go on trough and don't stop (except with the dinos), that feel all wrong in VR. When I hit something I expect some kind of feedback. Hopefully all these things can be addressed in future updates.

Out of all the VR games this one brings me back everytime. So far... The game is immersive and fun, still with so much potential. Free roaming Dinosaur infested environments trying to earn drop boxes to obtain better equipment and ammo. Many modes and difficulties. For any fan of dinosaur shooters this game is a must have. For VR shooters in general, this game will not disappoint. I am very excited for the finished product and look forward to the Dev updates.

This is an incredible concept. This kind of thing is the reason I bought a vive.
Such a shame that the controls are the literal worst that I have seen so far in any shooter. Chest slots really, no option for hip holstered pistols? And I can't even keep a medkit on them? The worst bow mechanics I've used. Menu button to drop a weapon? Grab to reload? My backpack literally disappeared between games. No feedback holding over a weapon slot, so you literally need to look down to find a holstered weapon instead of just feeling for it.
If this was early access it might be forgivable, but for a full game this is just not even close to where it needs to be.
What a waste of a good game, this could literally be the best game currently available in VR if the controls were even 0.5% intuitive. If it was early access there might be hope that the controls change to something playable without entirely relearning everything that every other VR shooter uses, but as a full release with no control config options, the only thing this game is good for is a refund. What an absolute shame, I really want to love this game.

A great VR game, with tons of hours of fun. Think Farcry, with survival elements, with dinosaurs, in VR. Survival mode is super fun as you go around do quests, finding food and weapons, while avoiding the terrifiying dinos. The game looks great too, and gives a super good sense of scale, which means the large dinosaurs are truly terrifiying. Only thing I would add is a walk in place option, (like the one in Stand Out) for a new locomotion option. New updates and new quests are always well appreciated though.

Hotsauce
Hotsauce

This game takes all the best parts of hunting (shooting unarmed animals until you feel like a big man) without all the annoying aspects of hunting ("No, warden, I don't have a tag for this elk. Yes, I realize it's duck season...")

Running from an allosaurus when you're out of ammo and low on stamina is pretty thrilling.

Playing on anything less than hard mode is completely unsporting.

Also, if you ever wanted to dabble in gender reassignment, make a female character and look straight down. You have cleavage (sans the back pain)

You ever pistol whip a velociraptor to death? I just did.

Considering how long the game had been in early access and it's part of the Viveport subscription service, I'm shocked this game never got more attention. Hunting and being hunted by dinosaurs is always fun, I don't care who you are.

OK so let's get right to the point, is this game worth $25? I don't know about that, but if you find it on sale for even $20 you definitey should get it if you want to go to Jurassic Park in VR. It's the closest thing out there (Ark Park was a let down).

There are three game modes. They consist of Mercenary (which is you being dropped off on an island - either a jungle or a beach) and you hunting down dinosaurs to earn currency for the survival mode. The longer you play the more dangerous it gets (there are day/night cycles) and the more risk/reward plays in. If you die you lose everything, however if you come back to the base camp you will keep your currency and can even save your items in the locker. The risk is though, if you come back too early you never get much loot or money and if you stay too long you may be a TRex snack.

There is the typical wave shooter mode called Arcade. Basically it transports you to various parts of the environments and you shoot waves of dinosaurs before being transported somewhere else. This is mostly 180 degrees, but there are sometimes dinosaurs behind you. I would consider this a weak mode but it's fun for VR newbies.

Finally there is the survival mode. This is kind of the heart of the game. Using the currency you earned from Mercenaries you should be able to get a few items to start with and you have to survive as long as possible with the dinosaurs on the island. This is both scary (being hunted) and funny as you eat dinosaurs to survive. You also will discover what happened to the inhabitants of the island but really that's a small part of the mode.

There actually is a lot of content here and there are tons of options for everyone. You can use full locomotion, teleporting, or various hybrids of both. You also can up the difficulty (with higher rewards) or lower it depending on how sporting you want to be. On higher difficulties the game can actually be fairly scary.

Audio wise it's nothing great but it gets the job done of convincing you that you're in a wild jungle filled with inhabitants.

Graphics wise I feel that is the biggest letdown. I have the settings on epic (1070 gtx) and it still doesn't look great but at least the framerate is consistent. Honestly it's pretty ugly for the most part, reminding me of a budget PS2 game. That said you kind of just blow it off the first time you see the scale of a large dinosaur chasing you down and you're unloading everything you have on it.

Pick it up if it's on sale. It's more exciting than Robinson The Journey (but uglier) and way better than Ark Park.

The game is good up until you find the shop and find out there's no depth in the game, you just fire your gun and if you die, you lose everything, end of game. No depth, 3 types of weapons so far, 1 of which is a super expensive AK that you need to grind for, the other 2 are pistols.

Had this game since orig ea release and it's always been top 5 in my library (100+ vr games). Devs did a great job with it. They're still updating the game as of 2018, and for a VR title nowadays, thats about all you can ask.

That aside, the gameplay is fun, graphics are good, animations are decent, and replayability is good. One of the better VR titles to date. As long as they keep adding polish to this gem, it will eventually be a title to be remembered in VR history.

Well done devs, keep up the good work.

My eight year old self is super jealous of my 35 year old self. I remember after that original dinosaur park movie came out and I got dino fever, and my friends and I played with the action figures, using our imaginations like we were there. These days, who needs imagination? We have VR! Open world game play is interesting and absorbing, graphics are good, dinos are sufficiently scary (other than the tutorial which has an awesome entrance by Ms. Rex, I’ve so far only encountered compys and some raptors. Looking forward to my first encounter with the Rex in the wild!) I admit I spammed the raptors at one point, I had the high ground, and their AI wasn’t good enough to run away… they just stood below me and let me shoot them. Other than that, the first hour and a half have been thrilling, fun, and I’m happy with this game. Thumbs: UP!

This is worth your time and money.

- Virtual Self might seem gimicky at first, but is an important feature for immersion. You don't see that often in VR titles.
- Hunting dinosaurs is a fun way to spend an evening. Even when you get eaten.
- Survival mode should be played after you have earned a bigger backpack and a few weapons/food from mercenary mode first. Otherwise, only having the default sized backpack really makes it quite the challenge.

An excellent game, Jurassic Park in VR. While it does have some glitches, it does what most VR games are afraid to do - have characters with bodies and big open worlds to play in. The arcade mode is equally fun as well.

Great fun. bought this in the Christmas sale. Started my survival mode trek across the island, & soon shot a little Raptor thing that tried to bite my ankles. After spending the first night in the deserted base, I moved on. I decided I had better save ammo, so I switched to a baseball bat. Sure enough, one good swipe killed the next critter that tried to bite at my legs.

Night time arrived, and suddenly there was a VERY loud pounding of footsteps. I looked around, and a T-Rex crashed straight at me.

I ran under his legs and hid behind a tree. He was pretty smart though, and he ran round the tree to meet me.

I ran back round the tree again, and he second guessed me and ate me.

Awesome. It's great to see enormous dinosaurs in VR, but it's even better when the enormous dinosaurs are trying to eat you!

Nice Concept but sadly it was abandoned by the dev´s. No hard feelings since the vr market is small and its hard to survive with so little customers but still sad for the game it could have been.

Not really worth buying in this state. Maybe if the dev´s pick it up again.

Great experience game, but there were some oddities I wish the developer could have worked out:

1. The left hand controls don't always work. This seems like a game engine issue, but I can't be sure. This doesn't mean the controller doesn't work. It just means some buttons don't seem to register but the motion of the controller and the trackpad both work perfectly.

2. The vive tracker support is a little rough. I bought this game for its vive tracker support. I wanted to kick dinosaurs in the face. It sort of works but has a lot of small problems the developer could probably solve at some point. I'll now go into detail about these problems:

Vive Tracker Woes and Potential Fixes

1. Tracking gets lost randomly. This was weird because I could track the controllers perfectly and in VRChat, these trackers track very smoothly. Assuming this is caused by tracking blind spots, the dev should add a distance limit for each IK joint to keep the player body from getting far away from its origin point, which makes kicking work better and helps make the walking animation look better with the waist tracker.

2. When walking with the trackpad, the tracked feet are still kicking things and making loud noises. This noise feature could simply be disabled while walking animation is running. The collision doesn't have to turn off.

3. The waist tracker often appears on the ground when loading into the main menu scene. This seems like it could just be a programming flaw that could be patched later. It wasn't a big deal, but it definitely confused me the first time it happened.

Overall Experience: Great.

Island 359 has enough novelty and enough replayability to warrant its asking price. It has a lot of really neat features and a lot of eye candy. If you have Vive Trackers, get this game and enjoy kicking things every now and then. If you don't have trackers, get this game anyway and enjoy it regardless.

Hunting dinosaurs in VR. What else could you ask for? Well made too.

This game is almost a great game, but falls short of even acceptable for the reasons I'll mention below.

First the good, it has great dinosaur graphics, it has incredible sounds and atmosphere, and really pulls you into the moment with intensity and suspense. The variety of dinosaurs is acceptable though more passive ones are a little desired. And when raptors are descending upon you stuff gets real!

So why aren't I recommending it? It's a combination of stupidly difficult, and glitched out like no tomorrow. There were numerous occassions I couldn't open doors because it simply glitched out. Climbing a ladder is like getting testicular cancer, and as a result I found myself skipping everything with a tower, which probably isn't a good idea because of my biggest difficulty gripe... You cannot find ammo anywhere. I have 3 guns in survival, and literally have not found ammo once for two of them. The basic pistol I only found 2 clips for, total. How am I supposed to take out Raptors with a knife? When it takes half a clip to down a raptor or a lot more for a bigger dinosaur, ammo needs to be waaaay more abundant. Yes, I checked the vehicles, I checked every single building I came across too. Almost never found any ammo. It really takes away the "fun" having to grind search and still never find ammo. And I am an hour and a half in, how long is it reasonably expected to take to have basic friggen pistol ammo?!

Saving is also a pain the ass, when you get good at it doesn't take more than 10 seconds, but still requires tedious tasks to complete. Maybe they don't want you saving often, but you sure do a lot of running in empty fields just to get killed by those Raptors you have no ammo for.

I'm out, sorry. Fix the problems and I'm in.

So, first off, the games graphics are decent, I'll give it that. However, it feels like it has many of downfalls. I will, of course, list them.

First off is the AI. It just has a lazy feel to it. The compies attack whether in a pack or not, the raptors don't feel like the intelligent dinosaur it feels like it should. In general they don't feel like real dinosaurs. It feels like anything will aggro them and they'll charge you no matter what.

Secondly, the amount of dinosaurs. The notes in story hint at other creatures like pterosaurs or water reptiles, but none of it is seen. Their are only a handful of dinosaurs within the span of two years of it being released.

Thirdly there's the weapons. The aim on the guns always feels... Off I guess? There are far to little weapons. Also guns do basically nothing. You don't really need guns because you can down a raptor with three swings of a commonly found stick. Then the bow is basically crap. The aim feels very off and its difficult to get right.

Fourthly, you don't even have a point to hunting the dinosaurs anyway. They are easily avoidable and don't provide you with anything. You can't cook them, you can't gather any sort of resources. It's essentially pointless to hunt them in story mode, especially when you can't even kill the tyrannosaurus.

Fifth, the story is empty. It's just bland. I expected an npc or something at somepoint, instead theirs letters explaining different parts that don't really mean anything.

Sixth, the game is glitchy. The compies literally say "hop" when they move. The doors get stuck, levers get stuck and glitch, dinos glitch, the ragdoll glitches. I have countless times set something down and it either fell through the floor or flew through the roof.

Seventh, the rewards for mercenary mode are pointless. I like mercenary mode itself because it feels like a vr version of carnivores. But there us no need for medicine. At first I thought you gathered supplies in mercenary and ported it over via the locker, but I soon discovered the lockers were essentially pointless. You don't use medicine in mercenary mode unless its an emergency.

Those are all I can think of currently. I wanted to assess the game fairly before posting something like this, and I think I got everything I find wrong with it. I appreciate you for reading and I hope these are dealt with, or at least explained if there's some particular reason. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Pretty fun game. I wish the dinosaurs saw each other, but they only see you. They will walk through each other, sadly. Also, with the correct technique, you can hold raptors and allosaurs at arm's length and they can not harm you. Still, recommended for fans of games like Carnivores.

What more can I say it’s dinosaurs! I love the old Jurassic park arcade games and this makes me feel like I was in one. Yes it is glitchy in certain aspects. I was showing my brother the game and he grabbed the ammo before grabbing the gun in the tutorial and it wouldn’t progress since he grabbed the ammo first. I tried playing some of the survival game play and it kept giving me issues with viewing the watch. Despite its short comings I still recommend it to anyone who likes dinosaurs and shooter games I hope that they are continuing to solve the bugs with this game because I really do see a lot of promise in it.

The reason I would say stay away is that it needs A LOT more work to be a functioning game. The movement feels clunky especially the weapons interaction. Backpack needs a lot more storage work as well as places to stash same items such as bandages and first aid should go together. Now lets discuss the giant elephant in the room the Dinosaurs. I like how they look you nailed it great. AI needs some SERIOUS working as well as the environment needs so much more then just textured copy paste grass 2d imaging. The ammo is ridiculous and I stopped because it didnt feel as if the story was even there. random pages of ppls letters that make no sense. its all over the place. Its a good game for 7 bucks but a 1x play kinda game. Invest into some serious modeling for the environment I did not feel as if I was in a dinosaur environment at anytime. To the DEVS please do not take this as I sm upset or angry and being mean I'm telling you what you need to work on to make an amazing game you have an amazing Idea and vision but this is what it needs to catch ppls attention.

Graphics & Gameplay made me puke, most games are not made with the valve index controllers in mind and neither is this one, cannot switch off teleportation so controllers a nightmare to use, I've played for less than an hour but will never play again, ignore this review at your peril

Made progress in game and fell in a hole now i cant get out no mater how hard i try and i heave to reset the game start from the beginning and loose all mi stuff till the devs fix all the bugs game also needs a lot of polish i am gona get a refund and not touch this buggy game again not worth 5£ let alone 11.39 £ to much for a boring broken game and the graphics are horrible in vr even on epic settings

Dont, let the screenshots fool you this is a clunky and awful looking game. Id give the developers points for trying however the resulting game is completely lacking in polish with frustrating game mechanics. I bought it because I wanted to play a game with dinosaurs rendered at scale in VR, Island 359 has this I suppose but the low poly models and poor animation detract from any awe that a T-Rex or Stegosaurus might inspire. Even on sale this is one to avoid.

Zombie Killer

Really fun game. It takes a little patience to get used to the game, but its well worth the effort. Its like being dropped in the middle of the "Predator" jungle, but your fighting "Jurassic Park" animals. Lots of good guns, and its challenging where it needs to be. Try all the different modes and levels, I'm sure one of them will be entertaining for you.

its a halfway decent game, but seriously, why can i not disable teleporting entirely? its so frustrating and annoying. teleport only games are a joke and shouldnt exist anymore. its 2020.

they worst part is the added analog stick movement, but you CANNOT DISABLE TELEPORTING so every time you try to turn you end up teleporting and its so frustrating, it makes the game nearly unplayable.

It's not going to win Game of the Year, and it's well below the bar in virtually every category, but it's fine for what it costs, if you get it on sale. So I rate it "Is a VR game you could play" and say if you have extra money you could try it.

Damn good game. Controls, storage, UI and world all make a consistent kinda sense. Killing a triceratops with a modded 9mm while fleeing a t-rex makes for hilarious nonsense. Island 359 is a great emergent quasi-narrative fps with obligatory wave modes and a fascinating progression through the story and upgrade paths.

Some of the graphics in Island 359 make my Super 2070 super-spinny even with low textures and draw distance; otherwise the beasts, NPCs, and virtual steel are all cohesive, attractive, and immersive. The only flaw I'll reddit here is the absence of a shotgun or super shotgun - all the weapons boom correctly while slaying a raptor with a bowie knife feels the right kind of wrong.

tldr: Island 359 is one of the best VR FPS games, like "Jurassic Park VR: Doom Island + Jovovitchian Survival Horror Story|Mechanics"

I've only put 3 hours into this game so far. My first impression on in-game day one was amazing, I start walking towards an objective only to feel vibrations in the distance and realize that it's (what I believe to be) is an allosaurus. Scared the living hell out of me. Something about a large carnivore looking dead at you and sprinting at your face just puts shivers up my spine. I'm a huge survival horror fan but was NOT expecting to get a horror feel from this game. Just watching videos on youtube on a phone will not do VR justice. You literally just have to try it for yourself. I am so blown away by VR as it is without the games. VR Chat, Steam VR, Bigscreen etc. But games like this just make the experience so immersive. Mind you it doesn't have the most mind blowing graphics, but when you're there it doesn't even bother me. The sheer terror you feel getting chased by dinosaurs is more then worth it. Give it a try if you get a VR headset.

The graphics are poor even on highest the 2 raptors at the start of the tutorial are clever as they got stuck on the fencing instead of walk an extra foot to come around the MASSIVE OPEN fences they were stretched way out of what they should be the figure should be i lasted 359 seconds before i thought it was shit until writing this i thought this was in alpha stage still then bc im disabled i rely heavily on steam advanced tool to make myself bigger than i am to play that does NOT work on this game once i found the seated options my used 3 lines on the oculus rift s it bought me to near standing but then i can NOT pick items off the ground i tried every button but nothing happened this is the longest review ive done so thats how upset i am about not playing a dinosaur game so yh....

I think this game has a good start, I don't really think its ready. I played it once, my tent floated away, i still don't know how to eat, i dropped my gun and there's no way to pick it back up, the island itself is redundant.

That said, I would buy Island 749 or the next iteration of this idea if they develop it further. This just needs more work imo. the developer has to make a choice of keeping a good idea, or putting more of these games out, only time will tell.

Tactical Mischief

Laid the smack down on a raptor with a table leg. BEST! GAME! EVER!

Alright, maybe not everyone is going to get never ending fulfillment and it is a bit repetitive in some aspects of the game. You're a merc on an island with dinosaurs. Not much story. Collect gear and kill dinos. Seriously, batting compys across the map with a wood plank never loses the magic. Level up in the arcade before trying to set off on survival. You'll be grateful you did.

Only real critiques I can give it is the reload is arcade style where the game reloads the guns for you. That's fine, but some people might prefer manually reloading the guns because it's more intuitive and quicker with practice. There's a stat for faster reloads, so this was probably intentional. The second thing is in the dialogue they call a magazine a "clip". It's 2021. Anyone who's played CoD knows it's not called a clip. Overall, a fun time killer.

Great vr dino shooter. I enjoyed it a lot during first lockdown. It has great weapons, one of the best attachments implementation I've seen in vr and brilliant backpack feature. Graphics looks like some kind of 90s cinema cgi (its not bad). Sounds and ambience are ok. But please... Try arcade and mercenary modes first. Survival is bad, unfinished and buggy (some of the bugs prevents you from advancing the game at all).

A game about surviving on a Island full of Dinosaurs that want nothing but to hunt and eat you, welcome to Island 359.

This game is VERY promising, but does have issues that most people are overlooking, one big issue i have is with the Dinosaurs not even spawning in sometimes, i completed a majority of the survival mode without encountering even the most basic dinosaurs.

Finding and looting houses is very disappointing, you'll find almost nothing half the time, which means, almost no ammo will be found throughout your playthrough.

There's also a huge lack of Dinosaurs to be found, you'll be encountering the same 4 or 5 dinosaurs over and over again, if you're looking to see every dinosaur known to exist, this isn't the game for you.

Limited variety of weapons is also disappointing, and the survivor notes that you can find are not very interesting.

Full body tracking IS supported though, which is always nice to see, weapons are indeed fun to shoot and use, and the world can be incredibly immersive to get into. arcade mode is fun (even if you're limited to 2 guns) and the mercenary mode is pretty fun too, more so than the survival mode.

Overall, i give this game a 5/10, its a decent game with a lot of potential to be something much better, but with the developer basically abandoning the game, it's difficult to recommend. I'd only suggest buying on sale.

I'm not sure why it says it's compatible with WMR? I'm using an HP Reverb G2 and the game is entirely unplayable. I can't rotate, grab, open the menu, or anything outside of teleporting around the initial spawn area. Regardless of how my steam controller configs are set up. I *want* this game to work for me so bad. It looks like so much fun, but there's no support for the headset I own, so I can only legitimately leave a negative review.

If there's a magic way to do it by going deep into configs and other stuff, that's cool. But that's not really why I bought the game. I don't want a game with "some assembly required" know what I mean? I bought it because it said "WMR compatible". Which, for me, was a deception.

I played Carnivores which was one of my favorite mobile games ever (based on the 90’s game). All I could think of is how good it would be in VR. And this is everything I dreamed it would be.
