AH! I love this game. I haven't played in a while because of waiting on updates but the last few days I couldn't stop! The fighting, fishing, cooking, and relationship development were addicting! This is a game I always wanted to play and I can't wait to play the full version. My only dislike is that I can't keep progressing but that's not your fault. You just made it too much fun to stop!

Can't say enough good things about the joy I've had in this game with EA. If you're on the fence about giving it a try, I vote go ahead! The release of 1.0 is drawing very close, and you can definitely tell this has been a labor of love on behalf of the developers. There really is enough available now to have you immersed for tens of hours, with the main features still unavailable. Just don't make the mistake of trying to fit it into the Stardew Valley box; it will never be SV, and it doesn't try to be. It's been about ten years since I've written a review, so I'll try to hit some of the major points

Good
-----------------
Absolutely gorgeous
The cooking mini-games are fun, though the ingredients may be hard to come across while out foraging
Marriage options are virtually limitless
The game forces you to make difficult choices that you can't really save-scum your way out of

Bad
-----------------
Official story isn't anywhere close to finished yet, but is supposed to come in 1.0
The meat of the game with generations and progeny isn't implemented yet
The game sort of cuts you loose after "the event", but that's because the story/rest of the game is to be implemented w/ 1.0, though there is still plenty ton experiment with

So to recap, it's not finished, but I think now is maybe close to the sweet spot of time to get it and wrap up what you can do with 1.0 looming. The only warning with this is that the EA journey you set on now won't be compatible once 1.0 is released, but the devs are saying an EA fork will still be available if you wish to continue it at any time after the release of 1.0.

Lovely! I cannot wait to restart when the finished game releases. I've had so much fun playing and seeing what's going to be added. It's not quite a farming sim and not quite a combat based game, sort of like how I remember the early Rune Factory games. The art and music is gorgeous, I love how full the game already feels. I didn't know this was from some of the Fable devs when I first purchased, makes sense though. Fully invested, cannot wait to see all the little things come together at the end.

DangerouslyFunny brought me to this game!

Great game, very detailed and pretty pixel art, I've played this since the early access came out. my only complaint is that it is a little confusing and not strait forward on the objectives. I'm sure its not so for most others, just me personally. I really encourage others to play if you like farming simulators :)

So, Kynseed is....extraordinary! I am not the kinda girl that likes to repeat stuff or even start a new game (over and over again) BUT Kynseed is the only game that made me love each run more and more. It made me wanne stay in that world for as long and as successfull as possible. And i cant even begin to compliment the vision of a genarations-system!!! This game is a rare unicorn!!! It has it all: unique artstyle, farming, managment, fighting, a bittersweet story, exploring, even some kinda magic. I know all these things look awefully familiar but i am not promissing too much when i say: Hun its not that-its so much more! This review is not ment to rate plain and simple-this is more ment as a hugh compliment and showing some love where it has been earned. If you are looking for a Unicorn, a one of a kind game, you've come to the right place!!!!

This game would make a neat DnD campaign: Mix of life from different experiences, character development that could both be good and morally questionable LOL, adventures from multiple angles (killing crazy monsters to cooking an apple pie), but my personal favorite is the aspect of creating a family and trying to live contently.

I wouldn't mind being able to do more questionable things; *cough* cheat on wife *cough* have secret love child *cough* (I'm using this to generate a DnD character for sure).

Thank you for a lovely time and experience, I look forward to the updates to come!

I tried to play this game a year ago and it was so strange...I chalked it up to being in EA and gave it some more time. I tried it again since I saw the devs are pushing for full release, and while there seems to be lots of new stuff...it's still just so bizarre of a game. It's like taking parts from stardew and other farming/craft/resource managing games and instead of making something cool and building on that, it's just an unclear mess.

The environment design is gorgeous, but the character design, UI, and character animations are extremely unpolished and lacking- especially the UI. Progression is not great, and the beginning of the game is a fetch quest crawl. I can't understand a game focused on the passing of time and family/legacy building that puts no effort into character writing- the best parts of farming games is relationship building and the NPCs, and a farming game that doesn't care about theirs has failed. The humor of the game is also 90% potty humor and d*ck jokes, which is cool if that's your thing but otherwise it's just uncomfortable. Really wanted this game to be great, but at the bottom line, it feels like a video game made by people who have never played a video game, and didn't want to pay a writer.

I tried this game in January 2022 and got annoyed at how little guidance and information the game gives. I decided it was just a factor of being indie and I wasn't going to refund and give it a whole year to put out patches and updates etc. It is Now October 2022, not a full year but regardless I was going to give the game an honest try and give it more than a brief attempt. After three hours of a new playthrough with some knowledge from my first attempt; there is still zero guidance. There are so many game mechanics that it does not explain and just expects you to know a lot of things. There's just not enough play testing from non developers giving full feedback and the people that really enjoy the game are the ones that put in the time to research everything on the wiki and look up guides etc.

And only as a sidenote, 4 hours in and nothing has really happened, just spending an excessive amount of time wandering mindlessly to find the touchstones to unlock the maps, wasting entire days when one is hidden off in a corner and I just cant find it and theres no way to help find it. Just feeding my pigs and picking up fruit from trees and bushes all over the maps, no actual real quests other than the occasional fetch quest from your Uncle. I'm sure there is some form of adventure and gameplay but this felt like so strange to me. It's like there's clearly tons of stuff to do but all of it feels bare bones without a proper quest/story guiding me.

The most entertaining thing I did was forge a sickle, and the only reason I ever forged the sickle was because I grew wheat for no reason other than just finding the seeds and planting them. Then I suddenly had the quest to forge the sickle to harvest the wheat (when I was still able to just harvest the wheat without a sickle...) and I had no guidance to complete this quest. Spent two in-game days wandering around until I stumbled upon the pickaxe laying on the ground, mined tin ore on my own, then went to the blacksmith and had to talk to the guy at the forge not the shopkeeper of the blacksmith shop, he then didn't give me anything and I had to talk to him again for him to give me the sickle mold, and then finally I had a tutorial that actually helped me make the sickle. For wheat that I had already harvested with my hands. Literally no guidance to find the pickaxe or that I even had to mine the ore myself. The sickle quest literally just said get the sickle from the blacksmith, and then the text info for the quest was just witty writing bcuz everything in this game is a rhyme or a joke with fluff text and nothing substantially helpful.

idk might wait another year and try again lmao no way I can refund it now anyways :)

It's a nice game. If I could give it 4/5 star I would. I wish they would update the look of the characters. I'm not a fan of how they look atm. The game needs to provide better explanations because most of the time I was lost without the help of guides on steam by other players.

Hazyninja
Hazyninja

The game has a quaint and relaxing feeling. I loved Stardew Valley except for the strict planning of the day. I like to be able to wing it a bit day to day, but in SV that tends to hamper your progression.

Not the case with Kynseed. Relax and ride a pig, power through a quest, or work on other opportunities. Whatever I find myself getting into that day feels like an accomplishment.

Though still in development, the game is lovely. The music is great. The scenery is amazing. The townspeople are diverse. This game is loaded with details. I have enjoyed watching it evolve into the dream.

Yummmm! This game is promising, not for everyone, but at least for me since I tend to forgive minor flaws anyway. Why should I always play games which looks realistic or offers everything ready for automated brains? I like how you have to find by yourself how to play the game, the world is cute etc.. sure, characters look bit no-no to me, wish I could change hairstyles at least etc. But do I have to be so picky about every game? No. As I said, this game has potential and has lot of interesting aspects. This game is unique and that way worth of trying.

I bought this early on to support what looked to be a very promising game. Years later, the game is still not very far along at all and updates have slowed to a crawl with the last one in April. Not sure if the developer abandoned it or what happened but definitely the last time I make the mistake of supporting a game early.

Just letting people know they stopped updates to focus on the 1.0 release. Not sure when it will be out, but it's not abandoned and still has loads of promise. Personally most interested in running a business. Looks like you'll even schedule employees' work shifts. Still has my hopes up and I bought right after release on Steam... looks like that was about 4 years ago. Very eager for 1.0, but happy to be patient and let them finish!

Has a lot of potential, but it's just not my game. Really wish I didn't have the "there's no button that lets you back into the main menu" bug, from using my keyboard. If you're on linux, opt into the steamdeck beta, that'll let the game open properly.

Amazing cute little game! I was expecting it to be like Stardew Valley, but it's completely different - which I love! There's so many different tasks and achievements in this game. Not only can you farm, but you can own shops and grow old with a family and continue for generations upon generations. I also really enjoy that you start the game as a child because you can build relationships for those few days where you're 12 years old. Anyway, totally recommend it if you like games with objectives that are also super chill!

Cloverdeer
Cloverdeer

It's really fun to play but I feel there's a lot of un-intuitive mechanics within the game that hinder my experience to fully enjoy it. For example, like when I walk around, my character gets caught in a lot of the background details easily. The tutorials are less in your face, but you really have to read the books/pages you come across as those will give the hints on what to do. The time is confusing as its not explained how the clock works. I do want to say that I appreciate that this game is really trying to be something different.

Honestly at this point I'm tired of waiting for the full game to be released. We'll be lucky if it ever does get finished. I bought this thinking it had some interesting art and a fun premise with good writing but the amount of bugs in this game and lack of content is just dragged down by the snails pace updates from the developers. It seems it hasn't been abandoned yet but it sure feels like it.

Cyrocco
Cyrocco

I couldn't recommend the game. The world's so poorly built and the introduction makes little to no sense. You're forced to interact with NPCs that have the most stiff and random dialogue. For the Fable games being the goal, there's so little suggested direction that it's more of a hindrance than anything.

I'm currently dropping the game for the second time because random glitches can occur during your prologue days that just lock you out of progression. The first time something like this happened was months ago, and I'm sure it'll be happening months from now, and at least I'll save myself the wasted hour or so of tutorial by not coming back.

Grimhilde

While writing this, I understand this game is in development and I'm sure it will be more polished when completed. Some of the things I'm pointing out may be improved or fixed by the final release. Despite my criticism, I do think it will be fun for the right people.

Good:

The art is charming and a pleasure to look at during gameplay. The music, when playing, is a delight. The songs are cute and add to the mood of the art.

The cooking system is really cute and fun, albeit a little awkward. I actually liked cooking the most out of everything. Other crafting systems also were fun, the little I did them.

Collecting proverbs scattered around the map while exploring was pretty fun, and actually anything involving exporting felt pretty rewarding and fun. Finding map stones, finding new houses/farms, and curiously looking at all the strange trees or points of interest was really fun.

Not so good:

The music doesn't loop well. I found it eerie and strange, when midday the music would just stop for several minutes. This could be ok, if they're were sufficient ambient sounds to make up for the deafening silence in these moments. I don't notice the lack of footstep sounds, ambient sounds, or whatever when the music is at least on.

The first few days of tutorial felt confusing, but manageable. The main thing was I felt confused about what I could actually do. There are A LOT of instructional books scattered around that are helpful, but sometimes irrelevant to your current abilities. You can reference them any time though.

The NPCs dialoge was strange a lot of the time. Many of them are openly hostile towards you, despite your uncle's insistence they are good, kind people. It is a bit funny how mean they are, but I wasn't a fan.

On the subject of dialogue, there were a lot not adult themes jokes and innuendos than I expected. This isn't exactly a bad thing, but unexpected. I would not recommend this for anyone under 14, or anyone who minds raunchy humour, despite its cute aesthetic.

I'm sorry to leave this review. I guess it would've made a good game. But all the surrounding drama was handled poorly and left us with an icky feeling overal. Left the game and never felt compelled to come back to it after that oopsie moment from all parties involved. :(

Nice game, BUT,

the day length i so short, and a quick search about day length and being able to adjust it, dates back to 2019 "Will be added later". Explore one/two maps and talk to an NPC and its time to sleep, thats how it feels anyway.

Love everything else in the game, but feeling stressed when you want to relax aint my view on fun.

Love the game already. (4hr of playtime)

SPOILERS AHEAD:

It’s a shock to know you don’t have a map but it’s actually a really fun challenge to find the totems to gradually unlock map areas (good choice and different). I like to quest and find things, the books and little notes you find that give hints and stories of the game are really cute. I cannot pronounce some of the words but im not great at reading “difficult” words or words i havnt seen before lol. Once I learned how the fishing mechanic worked it was easy to catch the fish. I like that they put a button in so if your lost you can assign a task from your book and if you click the button it shows you a glittery pathway to put you in the right map area for said task. That was very handy as I get lost super easy. YOU CAN RIDE THE PIG!! And you can make the animals follow you

If you've experienced the long delayed releases of the Fable games you'll feel right at home here! I know PixelCount's a smaller team compared to when they were Lionhead Studios but this project is definitely headed in a similar direction. There are plenty of "Beautiful Sandbox RPG's" out there with loads more heart and direction than this. I know it's in early access and I've followed and played since the early access release but it still doesn't feel like it'll be worth it.

Panacea

If you're one of the "people" who gave this game a poor rating because of the freezing, just uninstall the game, make sure to delete all traces of the game from your steam folder, then reinstall. Haven't had the issue since. Also, don't try to maximize the window when if first loads, I suspect that may have something to do with it. (Jeez, it almost seems like the game isn't finished, doesn't it?)

If you're an emotionally mature adult who thought stardew valley was great when you were a kid or after a traumatic experience but have since realized that there is no conflict, character development, and barely any thing interesting to do, then buy this game. If you feel that games with a darker tone might trigger you, then don't. It's really simple, and nobody cares about you anyway.

I saw a negative review for this game complaining that they thought it would be like stardew valley but then characters they like died and that was the reason for the negative review.

And that one review is the whole reason I bought this game. If you can understand why, you want to get it too.

I regret nothing.

And the fact that I am making fun of snowflakes in my review is NOT an invitation to every John, Hick, and Dairy farmer in the midwest to start MAGA-ing all over everything. I WILL make fun of you mercilessly in the comments. Being an asshole isn't political, and sharing that quality doesn't make us friends.

For a game in alpha, I found the engagement by the development team with the community here on Steam to be phenomenal. There are always lots of updates, and not just game updates (even if just a post to comment on where they're at in the development phase). The writers on the team are clearly very talented as well, I find even their news posts to be engaging and fun, let alone the game's actual content! So very creative and interesting.

The game itself has a fantastical faerie old-world feel with a little dark twist. As mentioned, there is clever dialogue and great writing in the little notes you can find around the world, which I found to be a nice touch. These things, as well as the art style, uniqueness, focus on character-building (improving skills, learning, developing relationships etc), and exploration, as well as the overall feeling of magic throughout the whole world in so many different ways, even minute details, makes this game one of my favorites and most anticipated of this year. I can't wait for the 1.0 release :)

I really liked games as Stardew Valley or Terraria, and then i came to know that some devs of Fable where doing something somewhat similar so I had to give it a try! I love the humor the musics and the aesthetics but what has surprised me even more is the concept of playing through generations! For me this game is a bless that I've been waiting since i played my first videogame on my Xbox which in fact was the firt Fable . I love fantasy RPG's , and strategy games orgames like the sims. So I'm eagerly waiting to see what will become of Kynseed once the 1.0 version will be out!

I wanted to like this game, but there are just too many aspects that are unfinished. The stuff that is are mini games that feel more like chores than games, there is an interesting story going through the game, things that they are likely building on, darkness that I enjoy. But, until all the aspects that they have started are actually finished so you can play through them... well it's not worth the time.

This is like your stardew valley with some weird twists and an interesting combat system. This game is DAMN cute.

It feels a bit like - the stardew valley "living in a small forest village" kinda feel, with less focus on the farm, and more of a vibe with exploring and learning about the world.
Its got this "druidic" sorta theme through the whole game and it shows, its lovely.

I love that it doesnt at all feel like a "stardew clone" at all too - even the combat is approached differently and im not sure theres a comparison i can make?
additionally, you can eventually manage shops - each coming with its own different style of managing it and the products (the apothecary is funny too as they joke about how you dont have a medical license but hey that doesnt exist in this world) -
the best part though is all the associated minigames with crafting;
the smithing, apothecary related ones, baking/cooking, etc.. they all have these super cute interactive ways that they all work unique to eachother and it OOZES charm.
i remember the first time i made jam and it just SOLD me on this game.

It still has a few bugs and stuff to work out, mostly just small visual glitches - but its early access as of this review so hey thats fine - its more than made up for.
it doesnt "feel" like its missing much though, theres a few skill trees and a place later on thats not accessible yet , but the world feels like the perfect size anyways so this is totally fine for now!

One other thing worth noting is things may start to feel a TOUCH slow and constricted a bit as a kid when you start - but this doesnt last too long so not a big deal.

Definitely worth a try now at full price even, absolutely worth it and you can feel the love in this project

The amount of love, thought, and care that has been poured into this game by its incredible dev team is clear from the moment you load it. It stands head and shoulders above other games in its genre, with each detail adding to the robust and alive world they have created. I'm extremely sad writing this. I have enjoyed playing this game since I've gotten it last year , on and off waiting for new updates which were always fun. I felt the game was colourful, delightful, and while not perfect, it is my cup of tea. I love these types of games. But after recently learned how the studio handled an accusation of rape from the composer for the game I just cannot support the studio anymore. When someone presents you evidence of harassment, disrespect, bullying and finally rape, you cannot wait months and months before doing anything! I get it that it would have been a shock, I get it that accusations need to be investigated to verifying them even, but with that much evidence that was presented, after reading the prospective of both the victim and one of the devs that quit due to this, it is shocking to me that the studio remained quiet, and even kept the abuser on because they were getting free music (another issue is the exploitation of talent). Absolutely appalling. It breaks me writing this cause I really have enjoyed the game but principles should come first. And my heart goes to the victim and I hope she gets the help she needs and deserves.

Eagle Scout

if pixelcount employees or contractors supposedly ravished a woman, they are supposedly innocent for a reason. innocent until proven guilty is a thing. If some random no name woman wants to accuse men of such horrible stuff, the woman needs to put up proof. BY THE SAME TOKEN, if the guy indeed raped the woman, he deserves the harshest of punishments within the confines of a established justice system. It is not a good thing to rape, but it is even worse to ruin peoples lives by making accusations and claiming them to be true, when they are not even in court or sent to trial. I feel bad for the guy accused of raping a wench, due to a lack of evidence other than testimonial from a purported victim.

if somone gets raped, its not the fault of the studio, and she/he needs to bring it before a judge for the accused to stand trial. Witch hunts and bad reviews will not change what supposedly happened. It will only cause ruin to very fine people.

if anything, the woman supposedly raped needs to apologize OR bring him to justice. One or the other. Put up or shut up.

the game is a fine piece of art, and the devs are nice folk, which is why i post this review. I do not like how men are being targeted by random wenches with words as weapons, without proof or bringing anyone to trial for any possible or purported crimes

I enjoy most parts about this game BUT the seasonal colors for Fall are so bright that its sicking. Also the time skip for the first time doesn't make sense? I feel like if I disappear for years and no one takes care of the farm or area I own shouldn't I have to clean or repair things that wasn't kept up? I enjoy the game but it has "small" details to work on. I would say a 3/5 so far.

So much potential and once completed should be an excellent game. There really isn’t anything else like this out there currently. Giving this game an upvote based on the potential. I’m not the morality police and refuse to down vote based on events outside the game itself. This game is a team effort and how people put food on the table for their families. It isn’t right to punish everyone for the acts of a few. Maybe we’ve forgotten this.

Definitely a game you can sink your claws into. Been looking for something that would just suck me in for hours and this game scratches that itch. The world is immersive and I constantly get lost in it. I appreciate that it's slow, but not TOO slow. The days go by at a decent pace and the seasons are only 2 weeks instead of a full 30 days like other farming/life sims.

The concept of the game seemed simple enough in the description, but as I got farther into the story I was pleasantly surprised. Already been a few times where my jaw hit the floor because I was not expecting what was to come. Keeps you guessing at every corner.

The names of the NPCs, the towns/neighborhoods, the animals, even the remedies you can make at the apothecary are all very clever and humorous. I highly enjoy the idea of everyone aging and having to give yourself over after so many years to continue your legacy as one of your children. I know a year or so ago children weren't in the game.. I'm not sure if they are yet. I'm currently married, but struggle to find the rabbit corndolls to have children. Either way, I can't wait for the complete release of this game and even in it's current state it was 100% worth the price tag.

The video game industry has been a cesspool for years in terms of sexual abuse, harassment, and general mistreatment. I bought this game with high hopes several years ago, and for a while I enjoyed the direction that it was going in. Having said that, I cannot recommend a game studio that covers up abuse. Given the radio silence from the studio since the public found out, along with the upper management's actions during, I will not recommend this game.

Edit: The way the studio handled the original situation was unprofessional and disappointing, but I will say that they have since replaced the work done by the individual who was accused of assaulting a fan. It's up to you whether that's enough to absolve them of responsibility or not.

One guy on the team gets fired for being a rapist pig and the community seems to think they need to take it out on the remaining devs, still working to give the courts the info they need to prosecute a pig and give us a final product.
Makes big sense, very logic...

This game is a gem already, can't wait for the finished product.

Edit: To the dudes sending me hate on my screenshots and death threats in my dms, grow up.

I miss the old fable games & black and white so much, to bring back the nostalgic vibes from Fable and put it into a whole new quirky 2D game like this is so amazing, I have spent hours getting into this fun, relaxing and quirky game and I am so happy I found it! Highly recommended

Fantastic little game even in early access, I've played over 100 hours and it hasn't even been fully finished yet but I enjoyed exploring what they had already managed to create. I do think it needs more content and NPC development, fewer lost item and fetch quests, however it is still in early access so a lot of these issues should be fixed by the final big update.

My main concern in fact, is how slow and tedious a lot of the crafting elements like cooking are. The cooking system needs to be easier as atm it feels like a chore and takes far too long to make one jar of mediocre jam. This is after the big update on cooking in the game was released. It does not feel worth the time, effort or cost to do more than once in a while given the extremely low success rate to produce more than a one star result. So I really hope they give the cooking elements a final overhaul in the next big update.

I have really enjoyed the new combat mechanics added to the game, an absolutely massive leap from the clunky attack and dodge movements while trying to fight off some erratic goblin sprites that served as combat in the very early release stages. I would love to see more new areas to fight in and explore, and maybe even some new fighting mechanics, hopefully once the full game is out we will see that!

I would definitely recommend trying out this game if you also like games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and other similar games. I think for the price and what they have so far it is worth playing in early access, but given that a final update may not be far off you might prefer to wait. Either way, you should try it at some stage. I think it's also a nice game to introduce you to gaming if you are interested in these types of games but haven't played any before!

Game itself feel like it has real potential, but one of the things that kept me very disengaged was the ability to lack connection with the villagers. You do have to build the connections, but nothing about the villagers makes me care to build the relationships in the first place. You'll be given an adopted child either way, but I just never had a positive interaction which made me not excited to interact with them. If some are mean/rude/etc, okay (makes me think of how they will be when you build up the friendship) but EVERYONE acting distant or being unappealing was too much. Especially since individual personalities were nonexistent.

Lore is interesting, crafting/cooking seems like it's being looked into, but sense of community and relationship-building currently on the backburner. I'll check out the game again once a few updates are out.

While still in early access, this game is incredibly and fun and has many different aspects that can appeal to many. The mini games are always engaging while not to over complicated, although it can be a little confusing the first time to do them if you haven't gone through the tutorials yet. The seasons and story moves at a quick pace, forcing you to choose what you plan to do in a day and whether or not its worth it to spend a whole day exploring around the map instead of completing you tasks. The game has many collectibles to be found, from vegetables and fruits to bugs and books. The game has a lot of content to mess around with and the growth that comes to the game in each update is always exciting to see.
The developers have a done a wonderful job with building the world and characters which pulls you in to the game and makes you want to play more. Highly recommend even though it is still being prepared for launch!

Game is pretty ambitious with it being a generational game where you continue your game even after you char dies from old age and you play through as your child and then so on and so on. Right now children are not available but this is what they are going for as the end product. The pixel art is very charming, combat is pretty fun, and the cooking minigames are interesting, you can also run a shop, apothecary, or a blacksmith at the current stage of the game(they plan to add owning a bar later).

The only part of the game where I'm kinda 'meh' on is the dialogue with the villagers, the chats for the most part are kinda shallow(some villagers seem a bit more fleshed out than others). There are some minor bugs but I personally haven't run across any game breaking bugs, yet. I'm also not on board with being the morality police, I'm giving a fair review based on my experience with the game. I'm not on anyone's side I just really enjoyed the game.

I personally am getting very interested in the story line this game is creating. The art in this game is very nicely done and well animated. Though I found this game to be a bit too challenging to find where you're going for quests though. I am certainly anticipating some updates for better tracking and some work on the ideas of mechanics that haven't been fully implemented. Like buying the shops, romance, ageing, cooking ect.

Too confusing and makes you feel disjointed from the world you are supposed to start caring about. Long tutorials, with no seemingly objective on how to progress.

In short, this game is way to stimulating and can easily become extremely overwhelming to the point where you can't enjoy it at your own pace.

Absolutely loving it! Don't expect a game you can just speed through. You need to spend some time with it, read and get used to the mechanics but, to my mind, it's worth it. Very fun sandbox RPG with farming, adventuring, NPC interactions, and everything else that makes this genre great. It's very well made and the project is an ambitious one which could make Kynseed a masterpiece when completed. The updates are frequent and they really listen to community feedback. Worth every penny.

As for the controversy, the composer has been let go, his contributions have been removed, and a pretty young studio handled an international affair, that had nothing to do with the nation they reside in, in the best way they knew how. They have really made a great game and shouldn't be punished for the sins of someone they contracted to compose music for them. Support this game and Pixel Count if it sounds like something you'd enjoy.

Absolutely stunning visuals. Adorable, super satisfying game play - I've been aching for an RPG/LifeSim game like this with actual in-depth crafting 'minigames'! I honestly reject the comparisons to (amazing in their own right) games like Stardew, Harvest Moon, etc, this game is definitely shaping up to be in a league of its own.

if you're looking for a very relaxing, deeply satisfying LifeSim look no further... I personally see myself sinking an unhealthy amount of hours into this:') Can't wait to see what this gem shapes up to be in the future!

Super awesome so far! It's such a beautiful game and I really enjoy how it takes a somewhat familiar idea for a game but has so many unique and original elements that it really is it's OWN game. I started playing because I was told it was similar to Stardew Valley, and it IS somewhat similar, but it really is an awesome game in it's own right and doesn't need the comparison.
The only thing I would say is that I did not see any trigger warnings or anything about some scenes in the game that I would consider to be at least a LITTLE bit NSFW. I think it would be worth it to include some type of foreword that some of the themes of this game are a little adult-y.

Wish I could refund this game. Very confusing, little to no story direction, not a fan of the controls, none of the NPCs have any personality or anything that makes them memorable. All things that's reasonable to say could be fixed in the future. But then there's the matter of the sexual assault. Whether or not it was known by the rest of the devs that one of their own was a monster, and regardless if the person in question was fired and their influence in the game is being phased out, I want nothing to do with this game now because it's forever tainted to me. Also the fact that a majority of the community in certain social circles are so far deep into victim blaming it's legitimately uncomfortable.

great potential. Needs plenty of development to complete the story (/ies), with enough funding , manpower and heart, I'm sure this can become somthing really great. Quite abit of bugs at its current stage, my com laggs out every time it rains, the mouse clicking area is abit weird. The initial selections about your aspirations dont really contribute much to the story. Wish there were more to the monster fighting and adventuring aspect. Have played this for nearly 20 hrs, have yet to see how my first playthrough's legacy affects the next, looking forward to this.

love this game but don't know how to play it successfully. tasks & people are difficult to find, passage of time is difficult to tell. I like that it is challenging and that it doesn't spoon feed you a million tutorials. but it is a steep learning curve and i feel like i missed a lot of things when i began playing. where is ash brown? i've been going to the forest where he is supposed to be dawn to dusk but i can't find him. where is pappy cowe? i have something to give him. how do i get my things from the blacksmith? maybe a bug is preventing me from gathering the things from the blacksmith or i have not figured out how to do it yet. why is my sister sad? lovely game though i am always thinking about it and thinking about playing it. though i will say i don't find some of the jokes that connect to the "real world" to be funny. way too many 4th wall breaks.. not my cup of tea. I recommend this, but not in its current state unless you want to see it develop like I am. I bought it right when it first went into early access. It was very bare-bones. The beautiful maps were mostly empty, quests a little hard to keep up with, interface was clunky, the story minimal, it was hard to figure out what to do. The newest update has fixed most of that. There is still a long way to go. Many occurrences of "this will be added in a future update". All that being said, I really like this game. The potential is so high and I really hope that it gets completed in due course and I can edit this to say I 100% recommend it. 15 hours well spent so far.

I want to love this game, and it turns out I do. It's quirky, funny, and has quite a bit of potential in development.
I hope in the future there will be a stat and Skill tree, and some of the features still need refining (like the fact that when you become a renowned smithy people don't pay more, you just get more customers, or when I hired a smithing helper he only crafted shovels.)
The game isn't perfect, but it doesn't need to be, because it's already more than fun enough to be worth the price.

Let me clear about who I am not recommending this game for. If you want a sweet cozy game with beautiful graphics, this is probably not the game for you. I love games like Stardew, Portia, and Harvest Moon, so I was super pumped for a game with a shop aspect. The little cooking mini games were really exciting too, so I got the game. I am pretty stressed out day to day and I just wanted something cozy to relax with. This game, isn't really cozy.

I am going to give you some early game spoilers, so if that bothers you stop reading now. I was ready to play a cozy game as an orphan getting a second chance in a loving family, instead I pick my favorite grandma to be burned alive as a sacrifice, then I accidentally disappear for 5 years and my uncle dies out of stress (so basically I killed him) and my poor brother is a wreck. I love dark games, and I can handle them, but I thought this was a cozy game. I let myself immediately get attached to the characters and love them and it hurt to have that ripped away. Usually I love this stuff, but now I just feel icky. My uncle's abandoned farm makes me sad. I don't know if I will keep playing this game.

I think this game has amazing promise and I eagerly await the full release. I can't believe this is only the early access! There are so many wonderful things to do and so many people to befriend (or make enemies with lol).

I'd recommend this game for everyone, but especially to people whp like games like Stardew Valley or Slime Rancher. I really like how Kynseed is a choose-your-own-story type of game and the games economy. It's sooo cool that we can but shops and run them ourselves, hire employees, set open/closing times, see the shops finances etc. So far that, and the overall cuteness of everything, is my favorite part of the game.

I also really like the graphics of everything, especially the NPC's.

I was drawn in by the combat shown in the trailers along with this being an rpg-like farming sim so i decided to give it a whirl. while the combat is fun and the concept of the game is nice, the farming aspect is seriously lacking. Understanding it is in EA, basics such as being able to dig your own plots for growing produce should be standard as well as being able to make money from all animals, e.g. being able to shear sheep. There is no description on what blessings do what before trying to choose them and the item descriptions, while meant to be funny, are not in any way helpful in telling you there purpose. This game doesn't do a great job in getting the fundamentals of playing it across and expects you to just "mess around and found out". That would be understandable for endgame but not for starting off. Also, I'm confused why they decided to implement the fishing skill tree but not the combat one since that is more of a core aspect of the game. I have plenty of grips with the UI and the generic quests descriptions but I'm don't want to write a book. I honestly believe this game will be great if it ever gets completed. Until then though, I wouldn't recommend playing it until it is finished.

This is a WONDERFUL Indie game to say the least I possibly could. I grew up playing Fable and Absolutely ADORED those games. Kynseed is fun in the same way Stardew Valley is fun, but please don't make the mistake of trying to play them the same way.

Kynseed's best gameplay is in managing shops, cooking, battling, and exploring.

You don't manage a large farm like in Stardew, instead you befriend the townsfolk and get permission to use their gardens (and everything else they own). You don't make friends to be rewarded with cutscenes, you make them for side quests and to unlock secret family heirlooms.

Cooking and managing shops are very hands on. Baking, cooking, potion making, and smithing have their own sets of resources to find and minigames that are fun to learn and rewarding to master. Hire and train staff, barter with customers, and build your store's reputation for bonuses.

Battling is a unique twist on turn-based gameplay. Mastering how to forge your own weapons and cook your own potions/meals gives you an advantage. The battling skill tree is still going to be expanded, but it's already really fun so far.

Lastly, exploring is a time sink in itself. The game encourages you to walk (or ride your pig) through everything its lush pixel world has to offer. Find proverbs, books, and recipes hidden everywhere, find fish and seasonal herbs unique to each town, and admire all the little details of each area (like how the townsfolk have a completely different appearance based on which town they came from).

So yes, Kynseed is ideal for fans of Stardew and similar games, but it's very much its own game.

I was fortunate enough to find Kynseed now that it's in the final stages of development (hopefully) and I can confidently say there's enough here to justify buying it as an EA.

This game is really delightful and I can't recommend it enough!

I was so excited for this game. The art looked fantastic and the game overall very fun. If I'm being honest, it was a total letdown. It feels like worse Stardew Valley and even though the scenery is beautiful, the game is just not at all engaging or easy to navigate. Tbh just get Stardew Valley

Loving this game so far! I was looking for something reminiscent of Stardew Valley and found that Kynseed was allowing early access to the game. Developers are nonexistent in the bugs discussion. My game freezes frequently for like 20 seconds doing anything and with my pc specs, it shouldn't. This would be the type of game I'd love to play but can't recommend if I can't even pass the tutorial without freezing hundreds of times.

It may or may not freeze for you too.

Brotienshaaake
Brotienshaaake

Great art, but i have issues with how the "tutorial" functions. Its easy to get lost or to just not know what to do even if you ask villagers to repeat themselves. Some aspects of the game aren't as fun in other games. For example, i can't for the life of me figure out if i'm watering the plants correctly, the soil doesn't seem to change when i use the watering can near them. There should be an easy way to see what things you're doing right or wrong on the farm, and some of it isn't done very good. Some aspects of the game seem too complicated for what they are, it tries interesting mechanics but not all of them work. There's also minor issues like text overlapping or weird UI choices that could also be bugs.

The game itself seems promising but it has some Major issues to iron out if it wants to be a game that people play for hours on hours. I'll say i don't recommend it for now, but that might change in the future.

Complimenting Kynseed:

An absolute marvel of design and masterwork in whimsical fantasy authoring. This resurrects the little kid inside of me that wanted a good Fable 3, and it absolutely perfects the tone and humour and personality of a little studio I came to love ;) thank you so much for creating this. Take all the time you need, games with the kind of attention to detail this one has received take time to complete.

Rambling Nonsense:

not entirely related, but some unsolicited advice i've been giving to some friends recently: stop buying games for what you expect them to become, buy them for their current state. With this mindset I have NEVER regretted a single early access purchase I have ever made, including many projects that were discontinued. If you are essentially donating money to something you want to see happen, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Quit buying games that you want to play later, buy games you want to play now.

I understand that it's frustrating for things to not go your way, but a dev team not having the resources to finish something doesn't make their game suck. If it does suck that's a different story, LOL but things not going to plan doesn't just damn a game.

if you read this far, thanks for lending me your ear. that's really sweet of you. feel free to comment about nightmarish early access games that you feel suck and make me stupid

SuggaDaddySarah
SuggaDaddySarah

Man, I really regret buying this game. I played it when it first came on early access and was like absolutely not I need to wait longer. Waited until recently and got back in. It's just too buggy in a lot of ways and doesn't function well for the player. It's confusing. The storyline isn't important, because the game doesn't make it a priority. You don't care about the progression. There's no real way to build relationships with any of the characters because they all look very similar and its difficult to interface with them. Too much running around. The side quests they give you are not fun and seem to just be time wasters. The dandelion clock is really confusing and I often find myself not realizing when I'm supposed to be certain places. There's also glitches with some of the main quests that just...don't get resolved if you can't finish them because of said glitch.

The idea had initially attracted me and I really love the art style, but it's just not worth it in it's current state. There's a LOT to be desired out of this game. It's very flat and needs a lot of work to make it more...dimensional.
