As a long-time fan of Xero's works (first discovered them when Freak-Quency was in progress - more than a decade ago), it's been great to see their how their works have matured and become more polished with each subsequent VN.

Pros: Pretty art, smooth animations, interesting story with some mature themes. The mini-games are easy enough for those who dislike them.
Cons: I had some issues trying to obtain all the endings and like most VNs of a similar genre it does get repetitive at points trying to get all the achievements.

There's a few easter eggs for fans of the previous VNs as well. Would highly recommend Lingering as a whole :)

I am still playing this game.
I just got the worst ending ever.
It was horrifying.
I had full body chills.

Don’t worry babies, I’m going to make sure you all get the endings you deserve ( ˘ ³˘)♥
Right after I go and create each character in sims.

Review:
As another reviewer noted, Lingering is about mental health and features some dark themes. It has a unique storyline that the player uncovers from the perspective of 6 different characters, which was fun to see. Weeks have passed since I finished this game and I am still thinking about how insane but wonderful the story is. After years of playing visual novels, it can be hard to find something new and feel surprised anymore. Lingering has fresh ideas and is exciting. The characters seem so strong, cool and mysterious but they’re all hiding something, secrets or their true feelings. They are a strong cast with distinguished personalities. I was constantly trying to figure out what motivated them and what they desired.
My favourite things are: Goldie's personality and relationships (no spoilers) and the relationship between Lock and Keyes. Big fan of the LGBT+ components and Calvin who is such a sweetie.

I wish it was easier to achieve the two endings I am struggling to obtain or there was a more thorough walk-through, but I am still hoping to achieve them regardless.

This game is so...interesting! It's worth every penny!

Pretty arts. The interactive interface makes the game really fun and engaging. It's a Visual Novel, so don't bring your expectation for an RPG into this.
The story plot is pretty thick, sewed together nicely, easy to follow, and meaningful, a bit on a heavy side but that's the what the mature tag's for.
You get to choose characters and you can see the same story from different people perspectives. Super cool in my opinion.
Honestly I didn't expect much when I made the purchase, but this goes above and beyond my expectation, so it's a super nice surprise!
I'm not LGBTQ+ but I enjoyed the game thoroughly. It was really good!

I've almost played this to completion now and I would thoroughly recommend it. The plot is unique and the characters are all extremely interesting. The art is gorgeous and the music is perfect for the game's vibe. There are a lot of queer characters too which is swell.

Definitely worth the money!

This was amazing, couldn't put it down!

VN with some puzzles and minigames, great characters and story. Gets very emotional at times, cried a few times.

Love the look and feel of it, the comic book style.
The way you progress with the story chapters for each of the 6 characters is cool and reminded me of Quantic Dream's games (because you do have to play with all chars to get to the ending), though some chapters lock or unlock depending on choices or choice of chapter played.

Music is lively and quite fitting, could even run it in the background while doing something else without it getting annoying.

There are 3 main 'couples' (2guys, 2girls and a guy/girl one). Almost all characters are gay / bi and you don't really get choices in this regard (except for that one time when you pick between a girl or a guy for a one night stand). Rest of choices in regards to romance mainly lead to whether anything happens with these couples and in what way, but you can't choose a different partner than the assigned one. But there is a reason for it (story-wise) and it gives the story more depth. I think I actually prefer it this way the more I think about it, allows for better storytelling.

The story focuses a lot on mental health and other social issues, which hit home a few times. It did feel a little forced at other times though, like everything was happening was trying to teach you something or make you accept something.

There are quite a few endings (I still have a few to unlock and 3 more achis) and you are given the option to try and redo the endings at the end by replaying all chapters (so you don't have to start all over again if you don't want to, though it can get a bit confusing after you replay them like 10 time to try and get every ending).

Overall, completely recommend this.

Pretty good Visual Novel. It has a different format making it very interesting. It looks like a comic book and the story is divided in chapters with each of them having 1 of 6 protagonists point of view. All chapters complement each other and often show different sides of an event. The choices matter and you get 13 different endings divided in 3 main branches of the story. I love the art. The drawing is beautiful and very colorful. The soundtrack is amazing and perfectly complements what's happening at the story.
Hope the dev makes another visual novel in this kind of style and genre. You have action, thriller, romance.
I liked the characters very much and a sequel would be nice. Goldie is my favorite followed by Angel and Doll.
No patch needed. There are a few [6 I believe] sex scenes but they are not explicit. And I honestly think they were done right and fit perfect into the game. Nothing more, nothing less was necessary.
Bought on release with 15% discount and don't regret it at all. Well worth the price I paid.
Highly recommended if you like vn's and a good story.

Lingering is a pretty good successor to Freak-quency and Amptitude. The similarities between each game feels like an improved version of each other. Lingering being the more fleshed out. The characters each are well written, the style of the game is much sharper than the last. I really appreciate the evolution this small company has achieved.

This game is weird…most games don't make me feel so torn on my review. I think the issue is so many individual parts in this game are fantastic but the narrative holding up the overall game just doesn't work. The art direction is certainly great, the music is great, over all sound design is fantastic. As far as visual novels go this is a high quality one. However, to put it lightly the narrative doesn’t make any sense.

The overall plot is that a secret division of the government handles monsters that are created by people that suffer from depression/anxiety and other emotional issues. So that’s fine…but the game attempts to tell a murder mystery without seemingly any evidence, suspects, or any narrative focus. So that’s a problem.

Look, this game has a problem with a lot of murder mystery games, the mystery can only be as good as the writer. This game is basically not a mystery or at least not a puzzle mystery. No clues exist that allow you to solve it. The solution is utterly random and could have easily been anything. The game is also strange in that it doesn’t seem to care about this murder mystery…at one point the game has a side plot about two children that might be creating monsters and harming people…which has nothing to do with the main murder mystery plot. This “side quest” takes quite a long time and this game is way too short for “side quests.” It feels like halfway through the creator decided to tell a different story.

After that section you then go into the end game and it feels extremely rushed and nonsensical. The ending itself seemed to have no connection to any decisions I made throughout the game and ended basically before I could blink. It feels like the creator ran out of money and had to finish things up real fast. This games plot needed room to breathe and it wasn’t given any. The ideas the narrative brought up in the last 30min needed to be stretched out over probably 30hrs…not 30mins.

Normally, I would write a review going deep into spoilers and explain why exactly the plot has severe issues…but it’s just too exhausting to do for this game. I literally could not begin to explain all the issues with the plot…it’s a mess. It’s a shame because the characters, the character relationships/romances, the music, the art direction, the sound design…basically everything else in this visual novel is great and if the plot worked this would be a must buy. It really just feels like this game was not finished…at all. Hopefully this developers next game has a much stronger focus on a cohesive narrative.

Honestly, I think the real issue is the setting of a secret government division hunting down monsters with a murder mystery central plot. This game should have been a supernatural romance game with no murder mystery and the secret government agency should have been more geared toward just investigating why spirits are appearing instead of a paramilitary organization. What this game clearly cares about are the actual characters and the emotions they feel and this narrative greatly hampers that.

Man.... I regret knowing this game so late. The plot is not that unfamiliar but full of emotions. I got several endings except Reborn :(( I followed walkthrough but still couldn't get it. I found the necklace but seemed like I couldn't save the boy. If you read this review and happen to know how, please help me.

This game has a big potential to become something greater than it is, but I didn't feel that got any kind of reward or deep constructive thinking out of it.

Just so you know, this is not about romance. This is about mental health. Dealing with mental health is not simple, it's a personal struggle that involves the people who loves you and care for your well being. They did mention about society not caring to take care of people who are suffering (which is not something easy to do), but instead treating them as outcasts, and other super deep stuff, but still, it did not give us a real chance to help those characters in a active way. Only watching as the end arrived in a helpless way.

The begining was so cofusing and boring. It took me a while to get used to all the random chatting and apparently irrelevant problems from other people. Finally, all was put together and bam! it's over!

At the end, I felt no real interest in looking up all the endings so that could, maybe find something that I felt good seeing. But, for real, it's not worth it.

There's another thing, they gave us the opportunity to go throught all the main characters (sometimes even repeating the same scene from that chracter's perspective), whcih was cool and all, as much as it was confusing at first. "uhh, is there any meaning to this?" I guess there was a purpose at first, but it added little to no meaning to what happened with the couple I wanted to see the most. So, yeah. I would like to hear what other people thought about that.

Good Art, nice but overly used references to popular phenomenons, boring story.
Played it because I liked Amplitude and a free one in the Amplitude world that was before.
With this story happened, the same thing that happened with thousands others like it.
Author tried to make it more dramatic and deep and over-complicated it to a point, when it lost all the charm.

Let’s not talk about how many hours I’ve played on this game. This game hit me close to home. I work in mental health and there was a lot here that really made me sit and think. And I got some romance feelings from it as well. I actually pay for Ceylon Ent. Patreon after playing and it’a been worth all of it. Not just a random studio that doesn’t care, but someone who loves their art and cares about our thoughts on the games. I can’t wait for the next project to come out.
