. When you die in a team guess what, your ass gets to look at a ship screen for 20 minutes while the rest of the teams is still in the game. Basically it rewards for solo play because you sit around for 30 minutes while your team finishes a match, so your better off soloing, at least you can jump back in the game. Crash to desktop and you lose everything, happened multiple times to me. Also you cant tell who is on your team! No names everyone looks the same, loads of team kills, its crap.

This game started out really fun the first few days, then it got overran with cheaters. Don't waste your time.

This game is for you if you are a grown man with a life. Tarkov is for sweaty neck beards that have to youtube and download maps on their phone to play starting out. This game you don't have to sweat you D1ck off. If you die it's not the end of the world like in tarkov. Also, the matches load within 1 minute and you're in on the action far quicker. More fun with a team at that! Join the Marauder discord to find a voice channel :)

Refreshing new game outside of the traditional mold. Obvious nod to tarkov without the tedious and difficult to understand inventory management aspects. Would highly recommend

Addicting. Fun, Challenging and without mercy. If you love playing Escape from Tarkov but want a switch up that is less mentally constraining then your search is over.

TLDR: As the game is right now, it is NOT worth the Early Access buy in, but it has immense promise. If you want more in-depth reasons for this statement then continue reading.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The game feels a little clunky for a looter shooter with an extraction element. Looting sometimes doesn't work right (if at all), and you can't take body armor (if it can hold items) and put it in your backpack. This is stupid.

The game uses Easy Anti-Cheat. Leaderboards are topped by nothing but hackers. The devs are doing sweeping bans, but EAC is about as useful as a screendoor on a submarine. While understandable that the devs can't really do much about this without making a massive focus on anti-cheat it is still extremely frustrating to deal with.

PS - Cheaters please go outside and touch some grass. No one thinks you're cool or amazing. We just pity you.

You are not allowed to select maps or even do a preference list. This is stupid.

You're great at flying, and are able to shoot down other ships and kill the crew before they escape, or shoot down their drop pods? No credit, no exp, no nothing. This is stupid.

Got a contract that requires you to hop onto a NPC ship? Better hope you get really lucky otherwise you're just going to spend hours rolling matches trying to get the damn thing to spawn, and when it DOES finally spawn you're going to face stiff competition for it cause guess what - everyone else has the same problem as you. This is stupid.

Daily contracts sometimes require very certain maps, or the NPC ships that rarely spawn. This is stupid with the aforementioned issues the game has. Got contracts for Iridium Asteroid Mine? Here, have Penal colony 3 times in a row, then Spaceport twice, Stronghold once, Penal, Terraformer, Spaceport, then maybe Stronghold 2 times in a row... so on and so forth.

A lot of these things can be fixed very easily, and should be fixed. As stated before this game has IMMENSE promise, and could be absolutely fantastic to play as more work is done. As of now though I see very little reason to progress and far less reason to continue playing for me personally. I want to love this game, but in the current state it's hard for me to do so.

I'll be keeping an eye on this game and will gladly change my review the moment they fix the truly fixable things (map select, ship combat rewards, looting, contract system) and will gladly sink more hours in

For the devs: please don't muck this up. You have a very promising title here. I hope you give it the love it deserves and make me want to come back and make this a daily played game again.

It's a pretty fun game and I think it has a lot of potential. You definitely have to be smart with your resources, but its not too difficult if you just know when not to risk your good weapons. I do a "Scav Run" type of thing where you go in with a good secondary or a cheap craftable main weapon and just grab what you can with the least risk. If you go slow and listen, you should have a good time. Some firefights feel very one sided if you don't have a big gun, which you can then also just lose to someone else a second later, but I believe that's supposed to be part of the risk vs reward. I enjoy the game, and I really hope the devs stick with it and make the right quality of life choices. My only real complaint is that the space battles are very "meh" and its more of a race to see who can breach first and win in a firefight, assuming you didn't just make a bee-line for the airlock (assuming you didn't get the random empty map...? that one really confuses me). Which CAN be a fun thing, but the way space and the ships handle, it leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

BOTTOM LINE: It's early access, but it has a fairly well put together proof of concept. It definitely fits the "Tarkov-lite in Space" description I've heard other people use. I like the game and the feel it has. It'll just take a little time to see if it develops into the amazing game I hope it has the potential to be.

If you played Tarkov and can feel your mind slipping as you try to figure out which type of .45 ACP ammo is the right one for your gun, or spent 30 hours grinding to get some modded AR only to get sniped by an absolute barbarian in a bush holding a wooden SKS, or walked for 35 mins alone in pure terror despite your full plate class 4 body armor and spec ops weapons, consider Marauders.

The weapons are fun, derived from WW1/WW2 guns, and each are rather unique. Each gun takes certain ammo types, but theres only so many, so you won't get bogged down in getting the right bullets for your gun. Damage is high, so engagements can be fast, but its not Tarkov fast that one missed second of visibility costs you your life. Fights can be lost and you can still recover. You can die and you only need a few key items to get back into the fight, its easy to make a basic loadout of cheap guns and absolutely massacre in a round, both players and AI. You can easily solo run over and over again, gets lots of kills and loot, and have a great time. If you can get two friends with you, prepare to become an absolute deathsquad.

Space combat is simple but really fun, and breaching into other players ships and heavily guarded AI ships is a blast. The overall setting of space and diesel/steampunk makes each match feel like a SWAT team fighting through a WW2 German space bunker, which is wonderfully unique. The fact that the game is so centered around space stations and ship interiors makes for very few dull moments, each new room could carry danger, loot and opportunity. The sound design is excellent, its very pretty for an early access game. Theres very few bugs too, and if the devs are at all dedicated to the development of their game, its gonna be a good ride.

So go grab Marauders, become a WW2 terror unit, kill 15 people for a few rolls of tape, gun down prisoners for the sheer power trip, organize your inventory in the most autistic way, join the Central Empire and scream at your foes in muffled German and Italian, enjoy a genuinely fantastic extraction shooter.

Stutters more than Forrest Gump.

Sound mixed by Helen Keller.

Haven't seen any cheaters, but AI bots with the right rifle can give you that impression.

Fundamentally Broken.
After doing as well as one can for 6 hours of play, where even the graphical stuttering was helping me as I see it effect other players in PvP. I was very mat, ammo, and weapon rich--- complete with several food & medical crates. Only to log on the next day to see my entire inventory cleared. Yet I still had the gear I was wearing when I logged off the day prior.

Very bummed, but not defeated I quit the game to relog hoping it was a momentary mishap.

Game said "Duck you," and decided to clear the gear I was wearing as well this time too.

Which warranted this review.

Now I'm worst-off than the game starts you, and I'm out 113k in warbonds I didn't trade in so I could feel like Scrooge McDuck whenever I looked at my inventory.

All that said--- I'm confident this game will be better than Escape from Tarkov, and be a genuinely fun adrenaline inducing game worthy of a positive review. Hell, maybe even pretty soon.

Why? Because it's only one step removed from working in each problem I listed. While being a pretty decent shooter in of itself.

I say give it a few months, perhaps until the holiday season for the devs to iron out some wrinkles. You could roll the dice and not get wiped like I did, and come out with a good experience of the game currently. (The graphic stuttering lessened the more you played.)

But yeah, I don't think this game is going anywhere, and I'm convinced it'll be better than Tarkov even before it leaves early-access.

I'll thumbs up it when it is.

The Spacelords smiled upon me, and gave me my shit back.

It's similar enough to other loot, kill, survive games that it'll feel instantly familiar, but with a unique Dieselpunk aesthetic and a lot of unique mechanics. The game take place entirely in space. You the player pilot different space craft, board other ships and stations engaging in claustrophobic close quarters firefights with bots and players. The setting of a Dieselpunk universe where the World Wars destroyed earth but continued in the vast nothingness of space makes for an excellent game, filled with iconic weapons and gear from the second world war and early cold war. I'd say with more development this will be absolutely amazing.

In my opinion completely worth the price already as is.

Also... Tarkov in space! Enough said!

Stonks
Stonks

Incredibly fun and fairly polished for an early access game. Good room for growth and much less stressful/complicated than Tarkov. Definitely give it a try if you have been on the fence. Yes, there is not a ridiculous amount of in-game content, but it is well worth the 30 bucks

vermilye
vermilye

the thing that nobody wants to mention is how rarely you actually encounter PVP.. id say from experince that every raid ive been in has only had 2-3 players at the station. the rst of the lobby is filled with AI and even the enemy ships, 99% of the time actual players have shit loot, the game becomes stale quick and needs more content if its going to make it but what it has right now is really good.

Lil_Stapler

In this attempt at the emerging "extraction game" genre, Marauders does a great job at a few things. Primarily, the raids are quick and don't drag on for what feels like an hour. Matching takes an average of 15 seconds to get into a game, and loads into a raid in a few more seconds. It is great to get into and out of games in seconds, rather than minutes. The game in my opinion, does not have the challenges required to really pull me in for longer than an hour or so every day. I want to see more options in choosing which map I go to, and some AI that provides a real challenge. There is not much in the way of progression, and doesn't have a lot of room to grow.

Me no Rassist

ehm you're basically paying €1 or $1 per hour of fun gameplay. then its like meh... same old very little content. its a good game. just its gone flat. will come back in 6 months...

Too many bugs currently. Game is impossible for me to consistently play in a party of two or more without constantly having to restart raids either for someone not joining, coming in with no gear or other big bugs. I would not touch this for any length of time until they do some serious patches. Good base game but it has become a flip of the coin for each raid whether it is even playable.

keanederkinderen

This is an amazing raw game!! every fire fight is super intense, and every time i die i chuck off my headset, Yell then throw them back on and jump back in! I was a fan of hunt mainly because of the team work needed to win a match, but for me this hits home much more. I love my Sc-fi and i love my looting. Put those together with the raw elements of Tarkov and you got yourself a game that could really get a huge fan base. I really hope the devs pound effort into this game. It certainly deserves it.. For all those reading, ill be boarding your ship soon enough!

OddeC
OddeC

I'm definitely giving this a thumbs up, but this game needs some work. The game play is great, as a savant of the extraction shooter genre and a Tarkie vet, I absolutely love the setup here. The map design is all around fantastic, engagements are blood pumping, and it's especially a good time with your buddies. That would be where the wrinkles start to come in however. Solo play at times can feel very frustratimg, and there's not too much you can do to even those odds. I went in running a pistol which spawns on your starter ship exclusively for about 80% of the time i've played so far, and I have to say I feel this game really needs a scav style mechanic. I can 100% understand a balance system in regards to this, but if it takes 5 shots to the face with any sort of remotel y good helmet with this thing then why can I kill a dude twice as geared instantly by running at him with fire in my eyes and a knife in my teeth? I feel that's way more frustrating than a lugerling getting a good angle on you.
As for the cheating I keep seeing people whine about, I've seen my fair share of cheaters in these kind of games, and personally I've not seen too many problems with it. I think part of it is that the bots are more of the problem, snorting more coke than your plug Mike in the back ally, being able to shoot you through walls and cracking you across the map when you never saw them. This is really frustrating to me personally because their movement and actual AI is honestly incredible, pulling flanks, pushing when you reload, I haven't seen many bots pass 4th grade of AI school and these guys are at least sophomore year. Many of them also have misleading names, and the only way to tell a player and bot apart is a captains card in the inventory and their clothes, but even then you can wear the same clothes the bots have on so it gets really confusing to figure out what's shooting at you, so I think many players get confused thinking it's a player cheating when really its an AI using aimbot instead of a credit card wielding 14 year old.

For those with a short attention span, fantastic game, but play a different game of this style if you don't have buddies to play with and don't have the patience to deal with bulls**t bots.

Holy SNORKEL
Holy SNORKEL

If you like extraction shooters, pick it up. I've had at least $30 worth of fun so far. I haven't run into any cheaters, that I know of, but I also don't really go out seeking pvp too often. Some bugs, like you would expect with an early access game, but I have faith they will iron them out. There is enough content to keep you busy and entertained for a while.

Autumn to Mouth
Autumn to Mouth

Sparse in content at present but this is absolutely one to watch; dieselpunk-alt-history-space-Tarkov with less focus on splinting limbs and stacking mags than on cutting into vaults and boarding player ships. It seeks to avoid a traditional wipe cycle by way of a meaningful prestige system that has both mechanical unlocks in the form of more stash space/hanger bays as well as character cosmetics.

Dhujaker
Dhujaker

This game is super addictive. Can't wait to see what they add. Hopefully there is bigger maps. maybe with a few places you can land, bigger maps maybe more O2. Maybe a craftable where you can kinda tell your crew apart from baddies,

If you could craft or buy low jack beacon of some sort on your ships so if you lose it/take an escape pod to safety etc.. you could get it back buy maybe paying a certain amount of credits to get it back. also maybe craft items that repair the ship while being attacked other then fire extinguisher.

can't wait to see how ship customization will be. hopefully more add ons and upgrades as well, would be nice to see even more space battles before and after docking.

Hoping theres more to the prestige. would not like to lose all the rep. with factions or unlocks made. hope theres more things available to unlock with it as well making up for the lose of everything.

Guilds sounds awesome as well. Hoping for Guild contracts, Guild trade/shop. just an extra shop to get stuff. Maybe it could even be another way for the guild or people in the guild to make money or throw things up to trade with others in the guild.

anyways, highly recommend and looking at that road map im eager to see how it changed over time.

Devs allow team killing and cheaters in there own discord LFG server and the community is very toxic because of it game had promise by not when they allow plaayers to run it to the ground theres no anti cheat so play at your own risk devs wont help or stop cheating

... . -..-
... . -..-

The game has amazing potential, and the guns/shooting feel and sound great. But there is a huge issue with cheaters at the moment. I always find myself longing to play but its been so hard to stay locked in to the game when you lose every gun fight because they either have the best loot in the game and easily mow you down, or you get killed by a cheater who'll eat your whole mag to the face. I'd love to see where the dev's take this game but they need to add an Anti-Cheat.

As Alpha's go it's worth the money. I can't get enough even though I lose plenty. The game needs some typical things still like in game coms, (there are ways to have your character shout} , a kill cam, a team spectate, spectate, and some other minor quality of life things.
But its fun, its hella fun, I've had a blast I let a lot of things slide as alphas go sure, but the game loop and space piracy is top notch.
EAC so.. there's cheaters of course.

So my experience with marauders is as follows join game open airlock die join another game open airlock die join another game open airlock move 2 rooms and then die im sure with enough time and patience you could get some fun out of this and going in i thought there was single player which would have been great but i dident do my research. The point im getting too i guess is if you are a hardcore fps co op player you might get into this for anyone else looking for an enjoyable fps find something else unless you enjoy the loop of die loose all your gear reload repeat this is not a very accessible game hardcore fans of looter shooters only.

Extraction based shooters are taking off and this take is finding its way to being potentially a great game. Of course there are bugs present and sometimes AI can be dumb or busted but the game runs smooth, load times are fast, gun play feels old school and fast paced, in a way that feels so satisfying when defeating a squad or a bombardment of difficult AI. Great potential here, hope to see this game grow.

I am a 58 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single farther to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2021 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and world and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.

Cool concept and feels like a smooth game but its disappointing that there isn't more of a PVE aspect involved in the game, there is also only the one area to explore on raids and it seems to play out the same most of the time, getting in gunning down a few enemies and then being demolished by a player, i understand that is the premise of the game but it seems too unforgiving for me to want to play anymore after the first hour

An excellent alternative to tarkov - I'm hoping they fix some of the bugs but most of them are just "take ten seconds to reboot the game and you're fine." The devs have recognized them and are working on getting them fixed soon.

But it released a little over a week ago - bugs are to be expected. Outside of that it's a great game both solo and as a team.

well i was loving the game. then after i updated my pc it wont launch. all my drivers and windows updates are up to par and i dont know what to do do at this point. 8700k, 2080ti, 32gb RAM. every other game in my library still works flawlessly.

Theres nothing more satisfying than going on a "naked run" in the Rustbucket and leaving with either a Scout Frigate or an
Interceptor Frigate. From my experience you cant nab any other ship unless you kill a player captain. Either that or Id destroy the ships so much they cant he repaired. Because the greater tier ships that ive been into I didnt see an engine that I could repair..

Game is currently full of hackers. I have been instakilled by people and have also dumped mags of ammo into people only for them to survive. In a game where you lose everything you take in on death this is an unacceptable issue. The worst part is reporting doesn't work because most of the time the "killed by" screen will show blank with no username so you can't even report.

The learning curve is a little steep but I've been having a great time with this game. Really looking forward to seeing the results of further development.

I had my fun while it lasted, but I finally uninstalled the game after dying 10+ times to BS ways consistently.

Higher tier armors (7-10) don't protect you more than a Tier 5-6 armors because you pretty much die instantly anyways from everything. Higher caliber weapons (5.56/7.62/300 Magnum) apparently do very similar damage compared to .32 ACP/10mm. You just have to pray that you land more headshots than the other person or pray that your armor actually does its job (It's pretty much RNG how much your armor reduces damage taken by each individual bullet). In an even trade/fight you either kill the other person while being one shot or the other person kills you while being one shot. I've slaughtered people who were wearing Tier 9/10 armors by using a MP40/MAT-49 (10mm/.32 ACP) and I have also gotten slaughtered by people using MP40's even though I'm using 5.56/7.62 weapons and higher tier armor than them. Also, anything close range will essentially one-shot you. I've gotten one-pumped by the only player in the game that runs the Terminator (shotty) and one-tapped in the head by a Welrod (10mm) even while wearing a T7 helmet.

There is literally no middle-ground.

Depending on what type of gear you have equipped while loading into a raid, you will run into similarly geared people or just run into 2/3/4 stacks even if you're running solo. Which is also more prevalent the higher tier gear/weapons you use.

If you want an easy pass to gearing fast and getting quick money, just find a crew to run with and the game is on easy mode. If you want somewhat of a challenge; run the game solo, but be prepared to face 2/3/4 people and have your ship breached from 2/3/4 different locations by people running your ass down.

Biggest problem with the game: You cannot choose what map you load into. I've wasted so much time loading into a map and instantly extracting, just to load into the same map again. I feel like the game has a mechanic where you enter specific maps and you will continue to load into those same maps unless you dock into the station and actually walk around.

Like I said, it was fun while it lasted, but I never got to enjoy running around with Tier 9/10 armors and higher caliber weapons because I just get stomped on by any random 2/3/4 stack I run into. I never bothered running higher tier spaceships because I instantly get breached and boarded by the entire lobby and die. If I actually had friends maybe I could've had some fun, but running around solo and having to hide in corners because you hear 2/3/4 people incoming bores me to death. And when I go fight them, one mistake or a millisecond delayed reaction will cause you to die.

Overall:
I only recommend this game if you are some type of chad and can team-wipe crews with ease or you have your own squad to back you up. I've seen streamers play this game and every single one I saw that had a stacked stash always had friends to run it with. I won't be returning to this game because I don't have friends. GGs

A slow paced Tactical Shooter that is accessible.

You can go into Raids Solo or in a group of up to 4.

Being in Early Access this is already a fairly polished product.

I did not regret spending $30 on this game.

I hope the devs take it far.

I LOVE MARAUDERS!

Two thumbs up!

Large containers filled with items disappearing, bots that sometimes spawn inside of your body making them able to shoot you but not the other way around, money just randomly disappearing sometimes. Fun game, but the bugs can be infuriating when progress is lost because of it. Will change to positive when wrinkles are ironed.

Its great, early access, but probably the best example of using early access I've seen. Its got bugs and glitches sometimes, however the game is stable and there is enough content to justify the price - hope the devs continue to do great work.

Incredible game and concept, it's early access but functions surprisingly well.
One of the most tense, yet rewarding games I've ever played

also I play this game solo and am having a blast, it's not impossible or entirely unfair like some reviews are saying

VERY early access and full of bugs, but the gameplay loop is addicting. Can't recommend currently as this game needs a lot of work and is plagued with hackers.

Amazing game, little bugs here and there but the dev team has clearly been tackling the issues i can think of.
dev team is really informative when theres issues i hope they stay this way.
overall if your looking for a new trendy game easy to learn this is it. im shit at tarkov and rust but proud of myself here lol
Game is definitely worth sticking around for and learning asap. gun play is well balanced, crafting is well balanced. as long as dev team keeps up with the feedback that matters then this game will prosper

As far as Extraction Shooters go, this isn't the worst, but it's definitely got its issues.

I have played thousands of hours in Escape From Tarkov and quite enjoyed this game to begin with. The raids are quick, the progression feels fairly paced for the most part, however, there are many problems that I believe should have been addressed even before an early access launch.

In Early Access, you expect issues, but as others have mentioned, the cheating is pretty rampant, lobbies being bombarded even whilst locked and passworded, leaderboards showing people with billions of kills (billions with a B), the gun play in many situations leaves a lot to be desired (having most guns be fully automatic without an option to switch to single fire for example), accuracy of iron sights not feeling great with a number of weapons, many higher tier weapons just seem so impossible to use (heavy MGs for example). These issues aren't the reason for my rating though, the real problem I have is the lack of variability in purchasable gear.

I am at the point where I am close to the end of the Zero to Hero quest line, and I just... I just have lost interest in the grind. Multiple quests are either worded misleadingly or are fully incorrect (I.e. most quests to get kills with pistols or knives you just need them in your inventory but you don't need to actually use these weapons). The quests themselves do not state this, even many online guides have incorrect information, it just makes the experience more frustrating than enjoyable when you realise those 20 raids you spent trying to knife NPCs was pointless.

The daily contracts are ok, but I do feel that only having one main questline can really make the game feel like a grind super early on. For example, there are multiple quests requiring specific guns that cannot be crafted or purchased. So finding them is the only option, pair that with the fact that at any point you can be one tapped by a pistoling, or mowed down by someone with a stock SMG regardless of armour, it can feel overwhelmingly pointless.

Grinding to a halt on the progression (in my books) really makes the game lose its attraction to me, I would be interested to see where this game is in two years or so, but for now I couldn't in conscience recommend this to others.

In summation, if you're looking for a fast paced PVP experience with some PVE and looting aspects then you might enjoy this. But, if like me, you use quests as a guide on how to move through the game and experience it, you may be disappointed. The above is just my experience, I am your average FPS skill level so maybe others will have a vastly better experience than I.

Marauders is a game much like escape from tarkov and the first time I had played a game like this, also I usually am just the worst in a FPS environment but this one somehow gets me going it is a lot slower than most other shooters reloding takes time which makes every bullet count and even though a gun is not hard to come by in fact there is one each time you enter a ride lying around on your ship, meele is still a viable approach. But there is more to it than shooting and stabbing each raid has a time limit until you run out of oxygen you also get tired from running around and aiming which makes it important to manage your stamina same goes for your healthbar which decreaes permanently each time you get hit which sounds like a big deal but is nothing you need to worry about keep your ressources in mind and leave before you run into trouble. This game is an absolute recomendation for those who want to play a slower shooter every now and then.

This game needs larger maps, better trading, and general flashing out.

The game is addictive, easy enough to win, hard enough to feel reward and feels new. 6/10 potential to be 10/10.
