A funny and crazy puzzle game, 20s each level with lots of funny choices to solve the level or fail at.

This is simply a weird and funny game. You have 20 seconds to figure out how to stop a bomb from going off and blowing everyhting up. It's casual, it's fun and it's got that old retro style look. Also, there is alot of content, loads of screens to solve.

And I really love it, I hope one day there well be a sequel.

Highly recommended.

McPixel Really is a masterpiece if you think about the pure amount of effort and love that went into this video game is astonishing. From giving Guy Fieri soap to desecrating a grave by smacking it with a zombie arm, you really just have to appreciate the fine details like being able to piss on an aliens leg and going up an old man's ass. I would give this a 9/11 simply because it is just amazing.

McPixel's a charming point-and-click variation on the WarioWare formula. Not a ton of replayablity, though.

*BOOM*

Okay, McPixel's the greatest game I've ever played. Bar none.

...

Whew.

I do not recommend the use of psychedelic drugs. But if you live where they are legal and choose to partake of them, you really should try playing this game while you use them.

Trust me, playing while sober will make you feel like you are stoned. Playing this while you are stoned will make your high even more so.

I don't know why i played this game, i dont know why creators made this game; i dont even know what the heck is happening on this game. Entire gameplay, you will feel like this and try to handle absurdness of this game. Being 2D and sweet pixel graphics gaves this game a nice touch and it suits the game. Be ready for abdurdest and weirdest encounters and always expect worst when you are looking for the bomb on every level. I really don't know what to say about this game but it left positive thoughts on me so i guess i will say its worth a try.

Great fun in short bursts or for binging. It's basically old-school Sierra adventure games combined with WarioWare's frantic pace. Silly sense of humor with lots of recurring jokes that just get funnier the further progress you make. Now if only we could get a proper C64 port.

Pretty good for what it is. Got some solid enjoyment out of it and I love the "free DLC" user-made levels you can download.

This game is sorta like WarioWare but with a ginger. That about sums it up right there, my work here is done!! 8/10

This is a really dumb game with a very silly sense of humour. As a dumb silly person this appeals to me a great deal and it makes me chuckle.

McPixel is one of the most entertaining games I've played, partly due to its simplicity, partly due to the chaotic amusement it provides. It's a sequence of gags at the lowest possible limit of point-and-click gameplay, but it never tries to be more and doesn't need to. I paid maybe a dollar for this game and it more than delivered for the 3 hours of content included. I have paid so much more for games to receive so much less enjoyment, and I would happily play the game again and again to share the weird experience with friends.

McPixel is an interesting game, at least in concept. A fast-paced gag hunt sort of game. The problem is that the jokes both aren't great and have very little weight to them. The gags are usually either both crude and tired or just aren't all that funny. While I'm no comedy expert, I have an idea of part of the reason for that.

When I said the jokes "have no weight", what I mean was two things: the sluggish animation and movement, and the entire lack of sound design whatsoever. To improve the gags, faster animations and more over-the-top artwork coupled with even some basic sound effects could do wonders. The game has so many explosions and yet you can't hear any of them, so they feel weightless.

The lack of any real hints on what you're supposed to do for each section also holds it back. You're left trying to figure out what your goal even is for any one section. The one exception to this so far has been the "virgin sacrifice" section, which gives you a clear goal and an expectation (the girl needing to be sacrificed), and while the gag that comes from it is pretty obvious, it still got a small chuckle out of me because it does something other than that expectation. Even then though, the pace still feels too slow and there's zero sound. Let me hear McPixel scream and sizzle! Increase his movement speed, decrease the timer, lay out a clear goal in each segment and completely mess with that goal, and give this game some sound! Freesound.org is a wonderful resource for any low-budget project, or just record your own. Throw an egg in a frying pan and bam, you've got the sound of McPixel burning to a crisp.

Overall, for what's supposed to be a fast-paced gag hunt, it feels very slow and hollow. For the creator, the players, and learners alike, look to games like WarioWare and The Impossible Quiz Book for examples of more rapid-fire gameplay full of gags and weird stuff. Those feel like better examples of what McPixel wants to do.

33/100 because I genuinely believe the creator put heart into it, they just lacked the skills to pull it off, and I genuinely hope they use this as a stepping stone to improve.

McPixel is the definition of crude and dated YouTuber-bait cringe. Never mind the fact it's one of the ugliest pixel art games to have ever existed, and I don't care how intentional that is.

Dasbooby

McPixel is an incredibly simple game. Select a chapter and then select a door which consists of a set of (usually 6) stages. Each stage has a bomb or something else that is going to explode or kill everyone in the area. You have to figure out how to prevent that. Whether you succeed or fail, you'll move onto the next stage and try that one. Once you hit stage 6, it'll wrap back around to the first stage, skipping past any stages you've successfully completed.

The gameplay itself is simplistic. You click on a person/object and something will happen, or you'll click on an object to pick it up and then click on another person/object to interact using the object you picked up. You'll then be shown an animation (usually silly) and will have either succeeded or failed. Most stages give no real clue on what you should be trying to do in order to succeed, so you'll just do things until you randomly succeed. The 5 minute long preview trailer shows you the first set of stages and the gameplay. That's pretty much how the whole game works but with different scenarios for each door.

The game is pretty fast paced, usually only taking a few minutes to complete a set of stages. While I enjoyed this and found some of the scenarios and things happening to be funny, in the end it's just a click here and watch random humorous stuff happen. It's barely a game.

McPixel is an awesome scenario based hidden pixel game with survival elements. I love how the game rewards out of the box thinking and experimentation. (Much like real life). Must-Play.

I enjoyed this game. The graphic style is meant to supplement the ironic humor, which I think it does well. Though, much of the humor is very low-brow, immature, and slapstick, with a bit of potty humor thrown in.

The puzzles are fun and often wholly unintuitive - which makes for a surprisingly fun twist in difficulty. Solving puzzles involves some very off the wall thinking. The 'obvious' solutions are not obvious, and failures often result in something so absurd and over the top that I found myself pursuing solutions that I knew would not work simply to see the often hilarious consequences.

If you are a fan of over the top, immature, mindless fun, then this game is worthwhile.
If you saw the trailer for this game and thought that any of it was funny, then pick it up. You'll enjoy it

Ehh, it's funny sometimes, but best played in short bursts because the gameplay is very repetitive. There isn't much logic to most of the puzzles, which is sort of a mockery of old-school adventure games, though sometimes a solution makes sense. The pixel art is also hideous. I got bored of it long before finishing all of the scenarios.

Simple , pixel styled, point n click game. Were you have only one target: Find and disable bomb on each level. Looks simple but it's horrendously stupid. On the other hand that makes game fun to play because you can't expect what will happen

Fun and relatively short puzzle game, with more often than not totally ridiculous combinations and solutions. Honestly, I wish the game was longer. The DLCs that I played at the end were a nice addition, although the levels differed in quality. Some levels in this game were ruthless and that was one of the negatives of the game. Still very fun little game.

McPixel is very hard to describe, it was a frustratingly good time! Once you get the hang-of-it then you can enjoy all the many gags that are revealed via clicking like mad to diffuse a bomb hidden in the room. Simple and entertaining, don't let the pixel art fool you, MCPIXEL is here to save the day!

KelpTheGreat
KelpTheGreat

This game falls squarely into the "so stupid it's funny" category. There's almost never a way to actually figure out what might solve any given puzzle, since what actually happens when you click on things can be completely unexpected. The real fun in the game is just clicking on things to see what happens, and enjoying the ridiculous stuff that does happen.

Alice
Alice

McPixel is ridiculous, makes very little sense, has confusing gameplay, and overall, most of the time, you're not 100% sure what's going to happen. In most other games, having all these flaws would lead to, well, a bad game. But McPixel leans into this as the entire premise of the game, making a unique experience of having no idea what's going on, but still enjoying yourself. The sense of humour is sometimes immature, sometimes nonsensical, and sometimes just plain weird, but all of those things seem like positives in the context of the game, because that ridiculousness makes you want to explore every option, to see what the game has to offer.

Would definitely recommend it, whilst it's a singleplayer game, it does work great in a group setting where people choose what they want to do, for the funniest (or correct, sometimes) results.

Chanesaw™
Chanesaw™

I'm not sure if I would call this a game, it mainly seems like a really long joke, except it's an inside joke that you are on the outside of. If you like wacky humor the game will give you some laughs and is a good value, especially for $1 when on sale. For most it will be a game you play for 15 minutes and forget about.

SUMMARY

While this game is fun for an hour or two, and has some pretty irreverent comedy, I cannot recommend it for 5$. Maybe if it were 2 or 3$, but for the amount of far better and longer games you can get for 5$ on STEAM, like Binding of Isaac, or Hylics, or Arx Fatalis, I just can't recommend it.

The game centers around using the character "McPixel" to solve short point-and-click puzzles with often-times illogical or absurd solutions. Kicking characters, smacking them with objects, pissing on them, throwing them out windows; what happens depends on the puzzle and the interactions. Levels stop and start with as little set up as possible with the goal being to keep the place you're at from exploding, so putting out a bomb or getting rid of it in some fashion is the main solution you're looking for in each one.

The music is a repetitive chip tune, but not annoyingly repetitive, which is good since you'll be listening to the same exact track for each and every level and every section.

The controls and gameplay are simple and straight forward. You look for interesting spots in the environment and click on for McPixel to interact with. Sometimes they have secondary interactions that allow you to have two objects interact with each other. That's pretty much it.

You can beat the game in pretty much 2 hours, 3 if you spend time beating the "Free DLC" levels. I highly recommend buying it on sale if you're really that interested in it. I didn't have a miserable time with it, in fact it was decently fun and interesting, primarily because of the comedy throughout it, but you have to really like the comedy to play this since there's nothing else to it. The pixel graphics are bare-bones, the music is borderline non-existent save for the title track, there's no story, plot, or over-arching themes of any kind, the gameplay is only there for the convenience of the decision-making, and the length of it is just long enough for you to complete in a single afternoon before dinner.

---{ Detailed Comment Notes }---

This game is silly and the things you will do will not make sense lot of the time and some of the silly jokes also got a laugh out of me, its quite random with some funny gags in it quite enjoyable short game the music tho cause there is no other sounds in this game, i have say was quite bad, only like 3-4 tracks in the whole game but you mainly just being hearing 2 of them in the story mode. It will start to get quite repetitive so you might want to turn the sound off once you get half way into chapter 2 or 3 cause it will really get annoying on your ears.

Anyways can't wait to play McPixel 2 . . . Oh wait. *looks though notes* Umm seems they doing a opposite of Valve so umm McPixel 3 no 2. Well in the McPixel world that is quite normal anyways.

All the negative reviews seem to be from people with unrealistic expectations or can't appreciate this game for what it is.

The type of immature people that will upvote absolute garbage games just for having:

- Good graphics
- Fan service

Lacking:
- Creativity
- Story
- Humor
- Free roam/open world (walking simulator/GTA or Mario64 clones)

That being said, great game.

Highly recommend.

Well. It's certainly a game. Quirky. Weird. Periodically lowbrow. Vaguely reminiscent of classic point-and-click adventure games. But overall a neat little game all about finding and diffusing bombs in all sorts of...original...scenarios.

McPixel is a great proof of concept with 2000s flashgame parody humor and a catchy soundtrack. Digital Devolver has announced they will be helping McPixel dev Sos publish the sequel McPixel 3 in 2022. Pick-up this game if you're into media with a cult following and fanbase.
