Its a fantastic strategy game excellent for unwinding after a long day. Something really satisfying and mindless but still challenging enough to be engaging. 10/10

The problem with this game is that the best strategies for high scores are exploitative and require you to cheese the game. Once you realize that, it pretty much kills all the fun.

Highly polished, challenging, and aesthetic... This game checks all the boxes I expected from it. Perfect for a single round when you have 20 mins, or to play for longer when you have time to spare.

Great game. Simplistic but aesthetically pleasing graphics, and an always randomizing map, so great replayabilty!

Fun clicking strategy game, simple and easy to learn. Good replayability with daily and weekly challenges and challenge modes for campaign maps.

Looks simple, it isn't. There are daily and weekly challenges as well. Did not expect to be so engrossed into a 12 dollar game yet here we are. Great game, very clean UI and graphics, love the music and sounds. Everything in a tight, neat, clean package. Do yourself a favour and buy this and at least try it out.

Pros:
Extremely well made game.
Compare your results with the world.
Weekly contest (with Map/Play modifiers) helps replay-ability a lot.
Daily contest (with Map/Play modifiers)

Cons:
- Frustratingly does not have speed x3 or x4, etc. Wish it could go faster.
- Random draws can hurt your game, would be nice to have a mode that is not random to retry the same set of options. Or a map "seed" for instance, but nope, not available.
- Luck, sometimes you spend time playing and just get bashed by bad luck.
- No Zoom - cannot zoom in or out. Sometimes cannot see the details of road paths beneath the speedways/overpasses.

Poo Craw 420. To be honest, I feel 69! But for a blue whale, I could give a hook to a blue bird. If Waldo (Wally) was a priest, I'd pump him in the rump, for being such a sneaky bast[whizzle]. But the cars are fast and the supermarket makes me hard.

An amazing game. Mechanics seem simple but it takes a lot of hours to understand what exactly you're doing.

A solid 4 out of 5 stars.
Simple to learn, tough to master, easy to pick up, hard to put down.
Map-specific challenges (as well as recurring daily/weekly challenges) keep the replay value nice and high, just where I like it.
The only thing that keeps it from that extra star is the fact that your success in the game is based heavily on luck. Where houses spawn, where businesses spawn, and which traffic elements you're given to work with is completely random. This can tank a great start within the first three minutes of starting a map when you're designing an efficient traffic pattern and suddenly the game spawns a green shop and a green house an entire galaxy away from each other and you only have a few road tiles to work with. The 2000 trip achievements remain consistently out of reach unless you get lucky, and as someone with a naturally low luck stat, I utterly despise that crap.
Other than that, great game. Despite my gripes, if they made a sequel, I'd buy it without hesitation.

Great casual game. I would buy it again. I only wish there was a way to change the difficulty by setting how many different colors you are playing with at once.

Easy to pick up but also becomes challenging. The challenges are a great addition to provide some new ways of playing the game.

This is a great game

This game is all about organizing road in a growing road network. This is a game for someone who is looking for something that both requires logical thinking, a great engineering's mind. This is a single player game so it's perfect when no one is online or if you just want some time on your own. The point of the game is to get as many points as possible, each car has a cycle where it goes from its house to the nearest marketplace in its own colour, at the marketplace the car picks up an item and drives home again with-its shipment where after that it repeats the same thing u get one point after the car has picked up an item in the marketplace. The Marketplace while constantly refill its items and when it gets full u lose the game. Even do it is a solo game it has leader bords to see how many points the top players are getting for score and what percentile you're in based on other people's performance on that level (each level is based on a real city like New York or Tokyo) and u can compete for the leader bords and try to get as good of a score as possible. There is also daily and weekly challenges where there often is a special challenge like: half as many roads or infinite of round abouts which makes the game feel fresher and that there is always something to do after u have ‘’beaten’’ the game. Overall, I would give this game 4/5

euqil
euqil

It's a nice game to play on the side, I liked it more than mini metro. The only downside is that it seems like the randomness makes you do some crossings that are impossible to clear out even if you had infinite roads.

Traffic management games are always so addictive, and Mini Motorways is no different. You're constantly trying to improve upon the city infrastructure, trying new city builds, newly received modules, newly unlocked cities, and so forth. The game is very challenging and rewarding, making you want to come back for more.

Maxi
Maxi

If you're at all interested in this kind of game, just go ahead and get it. There is immense replay value. Never have i played a game that is so simultaneously relaxing and stressful (in a good way)

MartyPG13
MartyPG13

The sequel to Mini Metro (not the car) but this time instead of running train lines you're running roads. Mixing it up with bridges, roundabouts, A-roads, traffic lights and yes, motorways, you need to use your limited resources carefully and plot the most efficient route possible to maximise the car journeys whilst minimising the traffic jams.

If the cars can't get to their destination in a timely fashion, then the tick markers grow and once too high at that particular destination, then it's game over.

I'm not sure the traffic flow simulation is particularly accurate, but the interface is easy to use and it's quite fun. Although the mechanics don't really change, there are different levels with different challenges and a daily and weekly mode to show who's best.

I give this one 8 carbon monoxide poisonings out of 10.

Mini Motorways is perfectly suited to bite-sized play sessions - if you have 30 minutes you want to kill, load it up and see how far you can get. The gameplay loop is stress-inducing in a fun way, and the scaling curve feels excellently calibrated - you can sit back and relax early on, scoping out the map, figuring out where things might start to go wrong, and pre-plan to ensure that when the game really starts to ramp up, you're building proactively, not reactively. I'm terrible at this, but even failing to build proactively pretty much every time, it's always very fun to hop in to this game for a little while, do one or two sessions, and pop back out. Clean graphics, excellent controls, a very intuitive UI - it's clear that this was built for mobile, in a good way, and that makes it the perfect game for sporadic playthroughs. Just don't bother with the traffic lights.

Recommended, but...

I love the core gameplay of this game and basically the first 3/4 of each run, but there is a very discernible and abrupt point at which the game goes from an enjoyable, reasonably-paced and chill experience to a somewhat frustrating and impossibly convoluted one.

It is at this point where you feel like you rarely have the resources that you need to solve the problems given to you by the game. And this is usually not because of any obvious mistakes you've made as the player, but because the resources you are offered at the end of each week simply do not scale with the game's difficulty as you progress. It can feel unbalanced in that regard.

For instance, you finally get your Sunday reward and you choose something that makes total sense with the current state of your city. You fix what you need to fix and help traffic flow better or finally connect a set of houses to their destination with reward you chose. But then Monday hits and individual houses of every color start popping up everywhere -- fine, you connect them but run out of road in the process. Hopefully nothing unmanageable happens before Sunday comes around again. But of course, Tuesday comes and so does a neighborhood of a new color on the other side of a river, whilst its destination is on the other side. You have 0 bridges in stock and the bridge you already have on the map is crucial to its location. Still, new houses continue to pop up and you're just forced to sit there and hope your city can make it to the next Sunday for the next reward or slowly watch yourself lose with no action able to be taken.

Personally I think that escalation in difficulty could be more gradual or the game could be more generous in its rewards. Maybe it would be good to have additional sources of resources or bonuses rather than just waiting to be bailed out by a Sunday reward?

It's an enjoyable game as is, I just think more can be done to sustain what makes the game fun while still being challenging.

Nemesis Theory

I didn't really play this a lot yet, but boy it's really entertaining!

Points I'd love mentioning:

    • It's fun for pretty much every target audience, from young to old and for all genders
    • The graph where you can see how good your score is makes it enticing to play again
    • It's extremely addicting as it's really rewarding to beat scores from other players
    • The sound effects are positively soothing, which really adds up to the immersion
    • The game simply works performance wise [i](a lot better than my traffic management!)[i]
    • It's just over 8 euros. I'd most likely pay double that amount for an experience like this

Overall the game is an absolute treat to have on your screen. Graphic wise and sound wise it's a beautiful thing to witness and the gameplay is super addictive. It's well optimized, runs like a train and the social component in this game is giving a very positively competitive vibe to it which I presonally thoroughly enjoy. It really feels like these classic arcade machines where you would play to beat another persons score.

Lovely to play with friends and family as well. Truly a banger. 10/10 from me.

A really fun time killer! I keep finding myself coming back to this game every once in a while, just oozing at the curiosity and excitement I feel whilst wondering what kind of challenges the game will throw at me. I love to play this game in the mornings while listening to my music as a way to start the day off in a good vibe. I really love this game and I'm really excited to see what cities and challenges they add next!

Wanted a nice relaxing sim game, found a slot machine where the main strat is to deny the RNG by locating where it would suck to most to have a building and putting a road there deny a spawn. Main game mechanic is not creating traffic flow, but balancing resource between denying the RNG and actually playing the game. Deny it to little and it will brutally end your game almost immediately. Deny to much and you wont have the resources to build. I wanted to like the game, but it just is not fun.

melosprout

Mini Motorways is a highly addictive game. Overall, it is a great blend of randomness and strategy. That said, some moments of the game feel too random or frustrating to deal with. For example, I needed a bridge to connect my houses to the markets. However, the game didn't give me this and I ultimately failed because I couldn't connect the houses to the malls/markets. These instances are few and far between. They don't prevent me from wanting to play the game. One aspect that I quite enjoy is that I can see my friend's scores which creates a fun competitive aspect between my friends and me.

Lastly, I appreciate that the game offers a light and dark mode as well as a colorblind mode.

If you like strategic games where you have to try and try again, with the goal ultimately being to get a higher score, check out Mini Motorways.

would be a perfect 10/10 if there was custom editor mode. I can see myself spending waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on this stupid little would be phone game.
I would waste waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more time if there was a custom editor.
Pls.
Let me do the edits.
Id pay $15 if there was a custom editor.
Really I would.
I want to use this to redesign my neighborhood so I can submit forms to my local government to change the roads because I want to do whatever I want all the time and they'd be a bad government if they didn't allow me to do so.
Do you see where I'm getting at with this?
I want a custom editor.
PLS
If I get a custom editor I won't have to be angry with my local law enforcement.
My local law enforcement would be pleased if I stop blocking off my streets; because "I'm going for the highscore" is an answer they want me to stop screaming from my drone throne as I redirect traffic for the 100th time today.
Pls
Renting out excavators to dismantle what i just told them to build is making the construction workers go on strike and god forbid if I can't install a traffic circle for less then 1/4 of a million dollars, as per my weekly upgrade, in my city wherever I want 3 times a day.
Pls
I need to uproot these families that think building a home over the river is a good idea. Like bro I need to wait a week before I can build you a personalized highway/bridge anyway so you might as well do what I say or no more groceries for you.
pls
These pleb drivers need better city management and heaven knows I'm not getting cities skylines.
Detail isn't important when traffic backs up.
A custom editor will help when traffic backs up.
pls
I want to defeat god by making a perfectly efficient traffic system.

9/10 so far.

Twould be sad if you didn't want a 10/10.

Okay fine I'll cut ya'll some slack.

9.5/10

Naaaaaah its a solid 9/10 because my irl stats will decrease because I don't want to let these plebs drive on terribly planned roads.

I've played this game's "predecessor" Mini Metro for close to 60 hours. I don't expect to get quite as much out of this game.
Iterating and optimizing routes is just not quite as satisfying in comparison, as the results are less predictable, and the hurdles in doing so (e.g. delay in deleting a roundabout and putting it back in stock) are higher and more annoying.
Mini Motorways is however overall still very enjoyable and highly recommended.

Zontastic

For a long time, this game sat in my library with minimal hours played. I thought I just couldn't figure it out enough to post a respectable score and was going to languish in poor score hell. Then I gave it another chance, and something clicked and sparked a new passion for this game. It can be frustrating when you can't figure it out, or if the maps don't really cooperate. But if you can change your idea of planning then this game offers endless hours of fun.

Packeranatic
Packeranatic

This relaxing game is very addictive and at times when you're on a deep run, stressful but rewarding. The concept is simple, get cars from their homes to the shop they pick up from when a pickup is ready. As time progresses, the shops generate pickups at a higher rate meaning you'll need to connect more houses to the shops and making sure the flow of traffic doesn't jam. You can't control where these homes and shops spawn (though advanced techniques exist to influence where they will spawn), but you control how the houses connect to the shops and get periodic chances to get more tools to manage the flow of traffic effectively (more roads, traffic lights, roundabouts, bridges, tunnels, and the GOAT: motorways)

The maps are inspired by real cities, have a night mode version (thank goodness because I'm playing this at night while I work haha) and contain simple but easily navigable obstacles such as mountains and bodies of water. The fun lies in the restriction of the game. You only get so many roads, bridges, motorways, etc to achieve the end goal of keeping traffic flowing. It becomes a resource management simulator in a way. As you play you learn more tricks such as segregating groups of traffic to avoid jams, that traffic lights are useless (save for the one niche use case for traffic lights at three way intersections), how to branch off neighborhoods so there won't be chokepoints, using diagonal roads whenever possible to conserve tiles, and using excess road tiles to prevent unfavorable building spawns.

It's a bunch of simple concepts working together to create an enjoyable experience, and I'd highly recommend it for that reason. That being said, there's still some things holding this game back. In my opinion, if the following were implemented into the game by either the devs or by enabling the mod community to create mods, the game would be PERFECT.

- A sandbox mode for experimentation
- Let the users create their own custom games with existing mutators
- A custom map creator and way to play other user-created maps
- A more comprehensive leaderboard system and user stats

Other than that, get the game already, it's only 10$!

Really relaxing and surprisingly challenging game! If you like resource management games, this is a nice simple format. I absolutely love the visuals and the game seems to be very well balanced (except for maybe traffic lights that never seem to have an appropriate use in order to actually make much difference). The only thing missing I feel is a sandbox mode where the player can move around the buildings and experiment a little bit. Other than that, really happy with the game! I also enjoy the weekly and daily challenges! they help keep the game fresh and always provide extra motives to continue playing and honing your skill.

I would definitely recommend!

Honestly worth the buy. Kinda wish it was on mobile... At first glance it looks easy and boring, but it isn't. I got this game on Friday of labor day weekend, and by Sunday I had logged 24 hours. Super fun game, with a cute presentation. Very soothing to my ADHD.

I won't reach so far as other reviewers and demand a sandbox mode...but, I would like one of the weekly rewards to be imminent domain. If I could delete a house or 2 to make a roadway more viable, I wouldn't have to waste interstates just connecting 1 color to its destination. I've lost games at 1400 because they spawned a new color, and its house across the map from eachother.

Only other complaint is that houses form right along the river bank, and you can't build a bridge off of them. I'd like the road to follow the water way typically, but then they spawn a house directly in the path and force bottlenecks.

It's just not fun for me. The beauty of city simulators is trying to create order to combat and react to chaos. Here there's just no ability to create order, the houses and factories/stores just pop up randomly in terrible places. I get what they were trying to do, but I don't like it. As contrasted with the old Flight Control phone app which is similar in intent (you draw paths for planes to fly an approach to land, while avoiding collisions in the air and on the ground), but that game totally works for me and feels satisfying.

My wife asks me "How can you enjoy a game where you know you are going to fail at the end?"
It's a very addictive game where you want to try to do your best and beat your previous score. It invokes the style of the old arcade games where you want to get the high score.
There are a few mechanics which don't seem to work very well - I often have to delete traffic lights to get the cars moving again. But I keep coming back for more and feel like I'm learning a few more tricks each time.
It's an easy one to play while doing something else for a while but it soon demands your full attention to keep your head above water for as long as you can.

A very straightforward looking game which is far from simple!!!
The clean look of the game is very modern and the sounds are very smooth and relaxing. And relaxing is just what you need when you are cursing that your road calming measures aren't working very well and everyone keeps ignoring a road you've just built to try and sort out a bottle neck you have!!!
A legitimately fun game which can be put on to kill an hour or so or one which you can devote a whole evening to trying to beat challenges etc.

This game starts out as a very slow meditation and is a slow but constant crescendo as each added pieces makes a more complicated, very slightly harder puzzle to solve. It does a wonderful job of generatively capturing the traffic-soul of each city, and gives you an intuitive sense of the challenges of the city planner fighting forces outside their direct influence.

It's definitely not for everyone, as the simple openings are peaceful and simple, while the finale before the inevitable "Game Over" is a manic dusterpuck. If you aim to be a high-scorer, expect to be using the pause key (spacebar) very frequently. For the puzzle-gamer that will enjoy this slow crescendo and gradual transition to inevitable failure, it is an absolute masterpiece.

Very relaxing, just make roads to other buildings and watch the cars go. Gets a little stressful when cars just don't go to where ever they are suppose to, or you run out of building materials. Mad respect to civil engineers who actually know how to build roads.

In-depth Review

Story

None. The story is you come to an empty city, watch it expand, and then see it become a concrete jungle, like in real life :)

Gameplay Mechanic

The premise of the game is simple. There is 2 types of building that spawn randomly at a given random time. The small one (I called it a house) and the big one (I called it a store). All you need to do is connect the house to the store by building roads, so the car can go to the store and go back. You get one point each time the car makes it back to the house.

The challenge is you have limited roads, and you can only connect the house and the store with the same color. Worry not, you get supplies like roads, traffic lights, motorways, etc after a week pass. So what is the goal then? Mini Motorways is a high score type of game. Get as many points as you can, how many days you can last managing the traffic, and your score gonna be submitted to the leaderboards.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2833100384

If that is not challenging enough for you, Mini Motorways have daily and weekly challenge, and also unique challenge per map once you get enough score on said map. The difference is, that you will get modifiers, that affect how you build the roads. It can be good stuff, but mostly bad stuff
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2833100368

Visual

The style is minimalistic, and still bearable to see even if it is crowded. There is a day mode, night mode, and simple color mode (I think, they didn’t state the name of the mode) to choose from while you play the game.

As I said earlier, this game is heavily based on color. Good thing is, they have color blind mode, which you can customize to your condition if you have one.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2833100399

Audio

This is the only thing that I don’t like from this game, they don’t have BGM. All they have is SFX and white noise ASMR-ish of traffic sounds. Not that I didn’t enjoy that, but a nice soothing BGM would be nice to calm the nerve while stressing over managing the traffic

My friend hooks me on this game. Seeing them play and have a thought, I probably could do better than that, that’s how it started. I love how they have a friend's leaderboard, which made me competitive about the game. And even though this is a single-player game, it made me feel like playing together with friends

Beautiful-looking game. Some design decisions make the game just so frustrating to play though. The only viable strategy is to "silo" the colours- i.e. connect only red houses to red factories, and have no overlap with other colours. This is a light puzzle game (rather than a traffic/optimisation sim) that will screw you over with RNG before you can get to a high score unless you hardcore manipulate the AI by tediously placing roads where you don't want things to spawn. Even then, you can have a run fail because when you rearrange a motorway or roundabout in the "late" game out of sheer necessity, traffic completely halts. Great idea for a game, but very frustrating mechanics in the end. Many will enjoy if just looking for casual experience...

The visuals are so pleasing and fun to look at. I feel relaxed and entertained all at once. The only criticism I have is that I wish there were better directions on how to use the roundabouts and street lights and bridges etc. in the most effective way. I spent time looking up strategies online as well and I wish the game just provided all the information for me instead of having to do research.

Mini Motorways is a really fun idea, crushed due to bad design and a heavy use of RNG. At first I saw this as a light city builder / traffic management game with an emphasis on a relaxing, casual tone, but that's not what this is. It does starts out like that at first, and you try to build your roads in ways that seem logical, where cars have lots of space and more than one way to reach a destination.

Eventually, the map becomes an unworkable nightmare and you will lose because your citizens need to be able to get to the destinations on time. You think that you could have done something better, optimize the route a little better, optimize the amount of space there is, and you try again, but you always seem to lose at around the same timeframe.

The big problem with this game is that both the houses and the destinations spawn randomly. For some reason, you can change the direction of houses, but you can't change the direction of the destinations, and you can't determine how many exits they have. Usually there is only one way in, and one way out.

You will have a really good system going, where roads are aesthetically pleasing and everything seems to be going fine, and then the game will decide to put a busy mall right in the middle of your city, which screws with the flow of traffic and makes you redesign your city from the ground up again, losing precious resources in the process.

Mini Motorways doesn't seem to be following any kind of logical "realism", and you're not supposed to be thinking logically about your placement, like you would in an actual city. A lot of the game's helpful tools, like roundabouts or traffic lights, are utterly pointless. What you need to do instead is to discover how the game's mechanics screw you over and then exploit that.

For example: you can have it so the roads are only connected to the houses that need the destination, making it so the city never has connected roads (which is BS). Or you can literally place spare roads you have to determine where you do NOT want the game to spawn destinations, and just leave the game running to farm points. This proves that the game is fraudulent and intentionally wants you to lose, and the moment I discovered this I lost my motivation to play the game.

Really neat game, but for the love of jeesoos, please add one-way streets. After a while the city gets cramped, and roundabouts plus stop lights don't help enough; and it's not a puzzle or a challenge anymore at that point, it's just defeat by suffocation.

Other than that, good game 👍

I really enjoy this game. It's super relaxing while also mentally stimulating. As someone who sometimes needs help getting out of my own head while simultaneously not wanting to have too put too much mental effort into anything, this hits the mark. I really enjoyed this fun little game. Something to do if you need to be busy for 10 minutes. Also the simplistic art style and SFX and the way it seamlessly zooms out as you play, by the time level ends, you've gone from one street to an entire city without even noticing. Fun game, easy to learn. I only wish they had a free play mode so you could make visually complex or simplistic designs without the fear of failure or limited resources. I got it on sale for about 8 bucks, was totally worth it.

AAAAAAAAAA this game is a cool infrastructure management game. I am one of those people who wants everything to be perfect, and this game just does not allow it. Even if you make the perfect, segregated, beautifully flowing traffic, the game will place one house on the opposite side of the map that screws everything over. The amount of times that I have gone from having a nice enjoyable experience, to seeing a new building or house spawn and instantly alt-f4ing is far too many for how little hours I have. the game rarely gives you enough tiles to circumvent traffic. In order to get super far into the game, you need to start manipulating where houses can spawn by placing tiles there, which is absolute bull.

IF YOU CAN HANDLE THIS GAME'S CURVEBALLS IT THROWS AT YOU, THIS IS A WONDERFUL CUTE LITTLE MANAGEMENT GAME.

they need to make a catharsis gamemode where it just gives you nice spawns and i can enjoy this cute game without wanting to put a 12 gauge to my temple

I can recommend this game very much, but the beginning can be very frustrating. Because in my case I was not so good at the beginning, but this was only the first 10 games. And then I reach the 1000 and more, and so I think this game is easy to learn, but very difficult to master.
And the beginning from every game is so boring and even with 2x speed, but this is just the first minutes and then it's start to more and more and more to become difficult and very stressful too.
And you think maybe this is always the same, you are right, the game mechanics and the goals are always the. But it's always another way to reach the goal. AND THE GOAL IS THAT YOU REACH THE POSSIBLE HIGHEST POINT SCORE.

Mini Motorways is an interesting abstract way of designing a road system for a city trying to balance the need between a business and its employees' commute vs. everything else. In a way, it is similar to the Dev's previous title, Mini Metro, but this time, you are building roads on a grid, and you get a couple traffic control devices to help manage, but in the end, it's still up to your most efficient design (or redesign) to minimize backlogs and to go as far as possible with your design.

In a typical city, you start with one business, and one "house" which you must connect via road, and you are only issued X blocks for road building. (HINT: go diagonal as much as possible). Each business will "call" for a vehicle, and a vehicle will be sent from the matching color "home", come pickup someone, and head home. Then aother call is generated, and so on. Keep building roads as you see fit. At end of each week, you are given a traffic control device (signals, bridges, tunnels, traffic circles, highways, none) and more road blocks. Signals can make an intersection move better, but traffic circle would be even better, but takes up more space. Bridges cross water, and tunnels cross mountains. Highways can jump over buildings bypassing existing roads, but cannot go over mountains, and must have beginning and end.

As you connect more "homes" to "businesses", additional homes may spawn at a different part of the map, additional businesses may drop, of different colors codes that needs to be linked. You can have them share roads, or pave them a separate road, subjects to number of blocks available to you.

Regular mode is just go as far as you can. with achievements at 400, 1000, and really hard 2000 trips. Then there are challenge modes for each city with additional constraints. There are also daily and weekly challenges.

For some visual flair you can change the color scheme of the city/map. And a nice touch is the terrain features such as river are now labeled in the local language.

The game is quite challenging, at least when it comes to getting over 1000 in score, as it requires a bit of advanced planning and some techniques that are not so obvious. So it's easy to learn, hard to master.

Worth a try if you liked their previous game, Mini Metro.

Mini Motorways is one of the most chill yet stressful games I've played this year. The game continues to challenge you by placing houses in random spots, testing you to truly think critically as how to set up your city in an efficient manner. The aesthetic of the game is simplistic but beautiful. I love the variety of the challenges and weeklies and dailies.

My only real complaint with the game is that, at times, it seems luck based. There's been several times the game places things in the most bizarre places that led to a quick loss. Then there's other times where it's been challenging but fair. Seems like the game needs some more balancing.

Mini Motorways is surprisingly challenging. What appears to be a peaceful relaxing exploration of color upholds that, but quickly ramps in difficulty as things get out of hand faster than Benderz begging you to take his money. Including three visual modes for play keeps the game fresh and helps you get into the sprawling world of miniature mayhem.

I want to play this as a chill game and feel like I have some kind of a fair smooth learning curve to climb the leaderboards. But the "meta" is to control spawns by blocking using roads. Once you realize that you have to do this then everything becomes a chore. I don't have the time, or mental capacity, to be using this weird mechanic that feels like an exploit. It ruins the whole thing.

Once this "meta" is removed, however, I will change this review. It's an otherwise perfect game.
