Not a "finished" game... There are loads of bugs and tons of balancing issues that clearly were not tested extensively.

I think early access or not any new game deserves some slack. I bought this game and i want to say it is really fun the combat although there is no tutorial is simple and fun. The sentinels are a great idea and force you to adapt to each new boss. Here is a rundown of the controls since there is no tutorial.
shield-shift
dodge-A
normal attack-left click
ranged attack- right click
heal-Q
interact-E

I really like the game and you get what it says it's a coop (2 players) hack and slash boss fighting game with cute graphics and nice music where you can create bosses that other players will fight..
The game is already good and i spend quite a few of hours on it already plus 15 hours in the playtest they did. The game doesn't have that much content but i think it's very well worth the 15 bucks. They will also continue to update the game so it can get just better.
Don't expect to customize your Character right now the focus is on boss fighting and creating.
There isn't really anything to explore you can look at the maps once or twice and you know them. There is a bit more going on in the Citadel (Homebase) but after 5 you have seen it all.
There are rumors there is a secret but nobody has found it yet from my knowledge.
It's quite hard at the beginning for sure but once you get the controls and know the attacks it's not too hard or too easy.
It took me one or two hours to get used to the (keyboard mouse) controls, you can now change the keymappings so it should be easier now. I personnaly will stick with the default controls since really like them now.
You have to disable the Controller mappings in the general settings and it will show the KBM mappings.
I personally don't own a Controller but thanks to Steam you can change the key mappings if you want to over Steam.
A tip if you have come across problems with your controller close the game restart your computer and that should fix it.
The Game used to not give enough information but they have release a patch that addressed this.
A lot reviews seem to say that the hit detection is completely off and it probably was right after launch but by now it's really good. Another reason for this might be the peoples location. I think there are only servers in USA/Canada and Australia which has been added recently.

If you have question or want my opinion on something feel free to ask in the comments

This game started in a place were it was almost unplayable but the devs have been hard at work to fix it all definitely get it

The game is basic but the basics they do have are amazing; the controls are tight and engaging and the bosses are interesting, lending thought to combinations for powerful sentinels that can destroy other players.

The community I've met so far is very nice and welcoming, coming together to discover everything this game has to offer.

More weapons and some basic character customization could really help this game by giving players more to invest in and to differentiate themselves between all the other dogs and birds. Even just something as simple as some nice hats would do a world of good and more weapons would push that even farther.

I commend Sauropod Studios for their second game release and I hope they continue to show their passion.

Bricktron
Bricktron

The game is made by a small studio who has a passion for games, NOT a AAA title company. Any problems that arise will more than likely be addressed (it's launch day for crying out loud). If you've followed the games development or the studio from their prior games you will see they listen to their community. This game is very challenging & rewarding when finally killing the bosses (who are much stronger than you). Every fight is unique due to the bosses abilities that change in intensity, movement pattern, and even the abilities throughout the fight change. All in all, this game is not for everyone. The looting system most will probably find odd because it's for your boss you create rather than you. There is no power progression for your character, only for the bosses you create/fight depending on how deep you dive into the portals (They get harder the further you go). However, don't take my word or anyone else's for that matter, to truly see if it's an endless hack & slash, boss only arena, co-op game with potential to grow, spend the $15 because they can always add more.

I wanna give positive but I just cannot as of yet. Lovely art style and aesthetic, but too many problems right now.

Grabbed it to play with (LAN) partner. Have to go through servers anyway, okay fine whatever. Disconnects and other issues are persistent and annoying, but I guess to be expected (though crippling for this game.)

Biggest thing, though, is we spent the first 15 minutes just trying to figure out how to actually join one another. No menus anywhere, no help text, no tutorial, nothing at all comes up at any point. You just exist suddenly, which means running around trying to figure out how to join. Not sure what they use for joining but it was a mess - invite to play, join, etc. via Steam just don't do anything half the time, at all. After doing both several times we suddenly were together and moved forwards to the portal (which you have to go through to see one another - something else that is in no way apparent.)

So finally, okay cool, we reach a boss and get to fight. A few minutes later we are dead, as expected since you can't even try out abilities or attacks before engaging a boss (kind've annoying, it'd be nice to be able to at least swing and acclimate to controls in the citadel/portal area).

And then we're back in the little citadel place, two loading screens away from the boss, and no longer in one another's game. So after nearly a half hour of mucking around (my playtime shows slightly less because of having to restart the game numerous times) we managed one boss attempt, and now we have to somehow figure out how to rejoin one another, go through two loading screens, and THEN get to try again..?

Nope. Not doin' it. The whole point of the game is to fight tough bosses - don't put all this nonsense in the way of trying again, don't make it obtuse and unclear on how to join a friend and play. It should be as simple and straightforward as possible.

I'm also kinda bummed that there appears to be no kind of skill/ability progression/unlocks of any kind - I guess you are always stuck with sword/shield/boomerang and just fight endless waves of other bosses to make your own bosses? It's a neat idea, but that on top of the technical troubles just made us give up. Sorry devs - love the aesthetic and love the idea, but it's too much headache for so little payoff right now, especially with no breadth of character building/customizing/anything-ing.

This is one of those games you want to keep your eye on. It has a great concept and a lot of potential but right now it is more of an early access game. There are a lot of issues that need to be addressed but the devs seem to have a lot of plans for this game. I recommend it for its price at the moment and I see a lot of growth coming in the future.

This game doesn't seem like it was ready to be released. It feels empty, The combat gets boring really quickly, and it feels like there's no reason to grind through bosses. You can go through multiple fights and get parts for your own bosses......but why? so they can go fight other people ? ok? It doesn't feel like theres a reason to go out and fight them. You basically get nothing in my opinion. Sure it tracks how many players your boss defeats but like....it doesn't feel rewarding. The combat just feels dull. Just swing your sword left and right and maybe spam the boomerang. Oh and there are no I-frames on the dash. There are a few attacks the bosses can do to lock you into a small circle and it can spam its abilities in it...and geuss what? you HAVE to take damage in those instances since you have no i-frame in your dash. There really should be character progression in some way shape or form. Like getting different weapons for your character after defeating a few bosses or something. Or maybe some colour pallete changes for your character. The idea for the game is neat but in practice its boring and unrewarding. Oh and I forgot to mention the game struggles to run sometimes. Some abilities like the rock spike smash kills my computer. I can run more graphically demanding games than this no problem. I really wanted to like this.... I really did. But it should have released as early access.

game is fine for a few hours but should absolutely be advertised as early access, it feels wrong to obfuscate that from people.

Is pretty solid, needs a few things worked on and some more content but for day one its really not bad at all. there's a bit of a leanring curve but not hard to get used to imo. once this game gets rolling i feel as though it'll be super fun. not to say i don't currently enjoy it. plus the community around it is very helpful and friendly and genuinely loves the game. I hope for great things from the devs.

It's a fun game folks! It's straightforward, a skill based game where it is boos fights. Fight sentinels and return or die. If someone played less than 2-3 hours then I am not surprised if they gave a negative review. It is hard at first and not much is explained. Basic advice, get good enough to defeat 3 sentinels and made a strong sentinel. Need all the materials or you can't make one. Don't delete one unless you have 5 and have no more space. There are some errors but all in loading screens, not the fights for me.

PlusSize
PlusSize

A game where 100% of the content is created by its players will always have the same 3 problems

1. If the players can concieve of a meta, get the same items or can't get many new items very quickly, then your players will always be making the same "content"
2. You lose any potential for unique encounters and themes (look at a game like furi, where bosses are aesthetically and thematically similar).
3. Players are shit

In my short experience. I encountered 20 bosses, 11 of which worked (didn't stand still, or become inaccessible) and of those 11, I beat 3. Yet I didn't really deserve to beat those 3 because the bosses were either poorly designed (for example, they had no abilities or because practically every boss had the SAME abilities). Mirador's bosses are all just dudes in armour, with the same selection of abilities just in different orders. When the crux of your game is customisation you need to demonstrate the maximum potential of the system you've created, like how little-big-planet has a dedicated campaign which aims to inspire and demonstrate what can be done with the tools in its creation mode. Otherwise, I'm just sitting in a sea of samey and uninspired community creations (half of which don't even work) and I have no motivation to seek out an actual well thought out boss.

So, knowing that one of the two key elements of this game are lacklustre by concept (not necessarily by design), what about the other one, what about combat?

Its OK.

Hitboxes are OK except for in some circumstances where dashing feels like it "drags" your hitbox behind you rather than carries it with you. Swinging your sword feels good, however I can't seem to pin down the exact amount of time you need to hold X down to get a heavy attack (It might vary based on what you were doing before you try to heavy attack). Shielding is annoying. Its powerful, but doesn't reward absolute precision as you need to start blocking very prematurely.

Its also rather flawed in that it doesn't reward aggression very well, give you any variation in playstyle or provide any character customisation / build system. You have a light attack, heavy attack, shield and a boomerang (which is just far too clunky in my opinion). And that's it.

Beyond that, a plethora of bugs and poor optimisation, I simply cannot recommend this game. It has the foundation of a good idea but when that good idea consists of ONE function of gameplay and ONE function of customisation then they have to be so perfectly polished. And due to the "player makes the game" nature of the idea, you're simply better off chasing the end of a rainbow.

CunningCrow

It isn't fun yet. Hopefully they will improve the keyboard/mouse controls and put more content in the game. Until then I don't recommend it.

While I enjoy the gameplay and the game itself, this game certainly feels like it should be in early access with the numerous bugs in. it. While I would love to recommend this game it has too many issues to be worth considering at this stage. With it basically forcing you to use controller and having practically zero kbm support and zero control customization to what I see, it can be difficult to understand the control scheme. Now while the gameplay loop itself is engaging, it lacks any meaningful depth. You defeat sentinels to gain some sentinel parts and then you use said parts to create a sentinel of you own which is then used to defeat other adventurers to get more sentinel parts, but as far as I'm aware your sentinel never dies so if you make a very good one it will just keep one racking up more parts for your sentinel regiment. When I had first heard about this game I was under the impression that your sentinel would get equipment for your adventurer while your adventurer gets equipment for your sentinel and you constantly strive to obtain better equipment, but that is just not the case.

Overall there is a lot to be desired from this game, and while it is fun I can't see playing many more hours in its current state.

this game is GREAT!

graphics are beautiful, sound track is gorgeous, the design of your bosses are very open to explore new ideas and fights.

Devs are very friendly and will reply to you quickly if anything goes wrong!
Very large community on discord and a lot of new ideas every day!

Highly recommended to anyone that love indie games with a great future!

ICESOUP

The reason I have this game is purely because of the premise of making your own boss battle. It's pretty much its exclusive selling point. Fighting other people's bosses and then adding some of the components to your own is a superb idea on paper.

However, the glaring issues of this game shine so bright it blinds me.

Remember that premise? Fighting other people's bosses? that is literally all you do. There isn't any sort of intermediary enemies to fight before any boss, no little guys to warm you up for what may come next. You literally go into a level and fight a boss. There isn't anything else to do either. There was a time when I took the effort of looking all over this one level to see if there was any secrets or materials that I could gather while I was here before fighting the boss. Surprise surprise there wasn't anything. It might as well have been a completely white room with a road to the boss arena.

Most games that follow this kind of formula tend to give tiny amounts of reward for at least trying to play.

This one doesn't.

If you don't kill the boss you don't get anything. You might as well have spent that time staring at the pretty scenery.

And good luck killing any bosses either. The controls, for keyboard anyway, are so bad I thought they were bugged out. Pretty much everything directional is reliant on the mouse including the DODGE ROLL of all things. If you want to use your ranged weapon and then evade, you have to first aim at the boss, use your weapon, then flick your mouse in the direction you wish to go in at a moments notice. It's clunky and the worst mouse and keyboard controls for a game that I've seen in a long time. Oh, by the way you can't change them.

Great.

Let's get back to the game. While the aesthetics of the game look great, I hope you think the frame rate was worth the look. For a game as artistically minimalistic as this you'd expect it to be at least 60 frames at a reliable standard. But no, even during the titular boss fights I've seen a couple dives in frames leading to some pretty irritating deaths. Not to mention the pitiful number of resolution options.

I've talked a lot about the game's flaws outside of the actual selling point. The bosses themselves, while aesthetically unique, tend to all behave the exact same way. There are some very well choreographed attacks in this game with a healthy amount of prep before they attack but still being an impressive move. But obviously most people don't go for those. There is one particular move where the boss summons this disk that chases the player. Dodging through it eats at your health and the indication that he's about to do the move is ridiculously quick. This game is mostly about melee with ranged combat being an aside for when you can't get close. The very second this disk is out it begins dealing damage. This move lasts forever. Not only that but all the bosses have an absurd amount of health. It's like demolishing a wall with a plastic spoon. Your attacks deal next to no damage while almost every hit by the boss carves quarters of your health bar.

This is all not mentioning the perks of having an existing boss beat other players.

when your boss kills other players, you get a reward for your creation. This would lead you to believe you need to make a god of a boss in order to get resources. I made such a boss however, I noticed that I couldn't deploy my boss. You have to beat it first. There was no way that was going to happen. So I'm stuck with a fantastic sentinel that I can't use because I can't beat it I can't use it. Making it easier would risk me not getting any resources.

But the nail in the coffin for this game for me is the person you actually play as. While there are plenty of upgrades for your boss, there is absolutely NOTHING for you. There are no new weapons for you to get, no armor no nothing. You just fight progressively harder and harder bosses without even a touch of progression for yourself.

In short, this game could be fun. The idea of making a boss seems promising through the lense of this game. However, because of lag, controls, difficulty and a lack of progression, it kills me to say that I don't think this game can pull it off to its fullest potential.

Buy at your peril. It might be a good game later, but who knows. It sure isn't now.

EDIT:
I have now learned that you can just send out a sentinel and honestly that made the game better. This however does not excuse everything else.

Lyronis
Lyronis

Very fun, well-made, and a great game overall. Difficult, but not frustratingly hard. The soundtrack is beautiful, and the graphics are great. One negative I have is a lack of diversity, both in NPC design and in worlds. The NPCs are all identical to the player characters, and there are only two different worlds. I hope that later on they add more worlds and different characters to interact with, though it is not too big an issue. 8/10, would recommend.

Eris Selene
Eris Selene

I really wanted to like this, the concept was brilliant, but what it actually is? Move along.

This is basically dark-souls boss battles poorly implemented. The first flaw is that your hit box is imprecise. Foes can apparently miss you, but still hit you because either their hit box exceeds their animation or your hit box is larger than your character or it is lagging. More games err in the other side to give the player a sense of miracle escapes. This just feels unfair.

The second critical flaw is that the camera follows your character rather than the boss. You have to see the boss animation to anticipate the attacks, but if you get moved away, it would be better to see the boss and have an arrow to your character.

Small things simply like being able to use your weapons outside of combat just to get the sense of timing would make the game better.

There is hard and there is flawed. This feels flawed.

Without character progression and between boss adventuring, this simply becomes an unrewarding grind of button mashing. And with sloppy programming, even skill doesn't lead to success.

Played a few minutes of it.

Exploring the Citadel (starting Hub).
Entered the Portal... Gets teleported to hub (Found out i couldn't connect to server).
Second Try entering a portal... Finally connects to a place... Goes through finds a basic camp...
And another portal... Enters portal finds this bare bones enemy... Without any form of a tutorial of the ability to learn anything...
Having to learn during battle... Didn't realise you have barely any health to start off with... Fought an enemy that just used an AOE ability... Normal attacks and 2 flame circles... Beyond that... Is it any good?
No idea... as soon as i died... There was no way for me enter the portal again as i was having the same issue as the first try... but constantly...

This is EARLY ACCESS MATERIAL... Going to have to refund it as I can't actually play the game...
(It needs a lot of work. Might pick up the game again in about 3-4 years when they make progress, add content and fix all the connection bugs.)

These devs are active and care about their playerbase and their experience. Based on their other game, castle story, I know this game is going to be actively developed on and will constantly improved upon.

This is a dope boss fighting game. Sure you don't upgrade your playable character but that's not the main focus. It's about making cool bosses, and fighting other people's bosses. At this time I would say it is a complete game. I've had only a few hours to play with my friends, but i enjoyed it all and am planning on playing more. I'm very excited to see where the devs take this game in future updates.

EDIT: Changed my review to NOT RECOMMENDED as the game still looks and feels too unpolished and the developer seems to have pretty much abandoned the game

Old review:
Good and difficult (in a fun way) game with lots of potential and an active developer, but in its current state (27.07.2019) treat it as an Early Access game, due to some bugs/not enough content variety. Still definitely recommend it.

8/10

P

This game should definitely be marked as early access. There's very little content. There's only one character available with 2 skins. The movement and combat is really underwhelming for a game focused around boss fights. The bosses are also fairly generic and uninteresting. Everything in the game feels unfinished. It's like a minimal viable product at this point. Got bored after 30m of play.

Pleurotus

I see potential in Mirador and that's why I bought it. As it is right now i would suggest a few things before new players can really enjoy the experience enough to recommend the game to others. First thing I would suggest is to try and make the startup of the game smoother, what I mean is it feels unstable and you shouldn't have to wait a few minutes before you can click the play button. Make a tutorial as many new players don't know how the mechanics work making the game harder than it needs to be. With the tutorial you could introduce some story elements to get players more invested in the game and give them more of a reason to fight these sentinels. Now as far as sentinel creation goes, I'm unsure about giving players items from the start. My reason for saying this is you will have a bunch of creations that look the same and play the same and with the current loot system you will keep getting those same items with no progression other than the checkpoint loot. Having some options for "leveling" your character would be a good idea too, like choosing between defense or attack to your characters stats after a boss fight or at the checkpoint as an example. Another option would be giving the player a choice between a few weapons to take and fight against sentinels such as a spear, bow, or (current) sword and shield. This will give players the ability to choose their playstyle which would make things more interesting. I also thing that co-op should not scale the boss health as if you were fighting two sentinels, my reasoning for this is because if your friend dies it will become boring for both plays as one needs to wait for their friends to beat the boss while unable to do anything and the player still alive needs to deal with an extra long fight. I have two options for how this could be improved. One is that you can revive your fallen comrade using one of your own potions or making the boss health equal to one and a half of sentinels or less. I like the game because I'm good at it but it's not the same for others

It hurts me to write this, but it might be worth the price tag (little over 10 bucks) but that doesnt make it a good game.

here's my qualms: it looks and plays like an action-rpg, but it has no functional role playing at all. you have 1 character (bird or dog, which function identically), with no upgrades, sidegrades, or changes. your player character will never change. the focus of the game is on making an NPC for others to play against. this is an interesting concept, but does anyone care? youre not playing as the npc so upgrading it feels unrewarding, uninteresting, and disconnected from the player.

as a metaphor, it feels a little like im farming equipment for someone else, so that they can use it. thats it. just farming more equipment for them. without any player-character progression it feels like youre just putting in the work for someone else to enjoy. the only spoils youll see from your npc winning are for the npc. yikes. it doesnt feel like progression.

this is straight up an early access title, with the fitting price tag but without the needed label, and i think it could hurt the game in the long run. without the early access tag applied people assume it is a finished product. the gameplay loops might be in place but theyre hardly worth your time.

sorry, i want to like this game but its just not happening. it certainly has some promise but on launch it feels like a flop, or maybe a flavor of the week if the devs get lucky.

A really nice game with a good idea. It's hard to get in and defeat the first Sentinels. To build your own sentinel is to farm better and better loot and to progress further and further in the levels pays off but for the efforts of the first hours to look at all the skills and develop a tackti. You have a chance against every Sentinel and nobody is too strong that you can't defeat him. Keep up the good work. The developers reacted on the first day and fixed bugs directly with a patch. I'm looking forward to every further update and am curious to see where the journey will take me. It's a lot of fun to work together and today you can also play with strangers.

I played this game for 30 minutes before I realized that it wouldn't get better.
Instead of rambling, here's my list of grievances.

1. The worlds are barren. Good for ascetics, bad for a game.
2. There is no narrative, which is bad for a game.
3. Despite your first boss being a customized mecha-gundam wet dream, you get no customization in any way.
4. The move sets available for the bosses are poorly telegraphed, with the most devastating attacks happening instantly.
5. There is no explanation to the uses of the boomerang
6. There is no place to practice your skills. Which is unfortunate because there are two loading zones between you and a boss.
7. The hub world is useless, only offering a mecha-gundam fanservice chamber, and a location to change your playermodel.

The only silver lining in this entire experience has been, and ever will be, the fact that I could bark. That's it. The bark feature was the only good design choice in their entire game design so far. Do yourself a favor and pick up anything else. Both Hollow Knight and Binding of Isaac are two much better games for around the same price.

[AR] The_Handheld_Paladin

Is surprisingly fun, even for someone who doesn't like boss rush or games that have difficult timing. The characters are cute and can't get over the crow, he's such a god damn good boy and the doggo is also a good boy but slightly less. The two environments are very clean and wish there was more but this only came out two days ago so there isn't everything in there yet. The citadel looks cool and I love the snowy theme.

As for the sentinel creation, I love it. Even though there seems to be a limit to what you can make, there is still a lot to unlock and a lot to find. There is a lot of patterns and options to make sentinels difficult or easy, depending on what you want them to play like. As for fighting them, there are a few bugs but that is expected for something that just came up. I am not good at this game and because of how the game looks, I want to play it more and get good at it. I fully recommend this game for people who like boss rushes and creating powerful bosses to smite down innocent doggos and crow boys. There isn't a lot in the game right now but they plan to add tonnes of stuff!

Nichodemons

Mirador is slasher coop boss fighting game. You can either play alone or play with 1 other person, a friend or a stranger. Together you fight a bunch of bosses made by other players. With the defeat of each boss you get loot, but only loot for your own boss. It can be hard in the start, since it is a game like Dark Souls, where you have to learn by your mistakes. So if you want some hardmode, play this game.

Some negative:
The game is quite early, so bugs are expected. I personally don't encounter too many bugs. You can't customize your own character other than change it to a Dog or a Crow. Right now there's only like 3 maps, but I guess they will release more over time. Bosses are the only danger, you will encounter, else you're just running from portal to boss to portal to boss.

Some positive:
The game has a lot of potential. Bosses costumization are really interesting and fun to work with. They are also really fun to play against, since no boss is the same. The devs are really looking into feedback from their players, and really tries to push patches.

Over all, I think its a great game with potential, and even though you just fight and fight, the massive amount of random bosses makes up for it. Overall nice

Its a fun game but it can soft-lock and there are no items for the player, only the Sentinels, but it has a lot of content and the Sentinels are very customisable. A few things that I would want added would be a shop to trade Sentinel items so if you have too much of one item and too little of another then you can find some one that has the same situation for the opposite items then you can trad a item for the item you want or something like that and Items to make the player stronger so that it is easier for people playing.

The game has a high skill cap, which to me can really make or break a game. If you want a game that has a good challenge then i would gladly recommend this game. Otherwise the other really redeeming feature is the community and the beautiful artwork and landscapes of the game. I could see this game to be a diamond in the rough as of now but the more support invested will gladly pay off in the future.

Quite challenging and fun. The boss customization is interesting, unique, and provides a different approach to asymmetrical gameplay.
I'm looking forward to gear customization for your creature/fighter/anthropomorphic animal.
If you're hung up on the lack of loadout customization I'd say wait a bit for some more content updates.

This game feels like it should say Early access on it because there is so much more they could do with this game. But its a great game and for the price. Loading is a little slow sometimes and it almost feeling like the games crashing but its not. I think its worth the 15

Chivalrous Echo
Chivalrous Echo

Combat isn't well developed. Damage happens before the animation, the bosses can be quite unfair. Many times you won't be able to start a game. For a game entirely focuses on boss fights, this one fails at it's core components and needs to be reworked. Wait on this one. Hopefully it doesn't go the route of Necropolis.

Miporin

The current Mirador is not ready. This should be an Early Access title, not a full release one. Go into the EA to get some feedbacks, then polish it for the release would be better.

The core game is there already, but it needs more QoL changes. It is not polished enough for the release.

The patch just came out for random MM, which is something that should be there before the release. It also add some QoL changes for user interfaces in some parts. These are something that other devs would do in their EAs, not in their full-released-game.

Somehow, this is currently the ONLINE-ONLY too. If you can't connect to the game server, you will stuck in the walking-from-spawn-to-portal loop (instead of starting right before the portal, QoL problem again), not allowing you to play. I assume that if the server is down, then you can't play.

After 4-5 loops, I manage to get to fight a boss, and ... not happy with it. You get hit when you are not supposed to be. Some hitboxes are not where they should be. Hit right before the animations play out, or in the middle of them, not when the attacks land on your PC. After going through several can't-connect-to-sever-walking loops for the fights. It's a refund.

I would not support devs for this kind of practices. Full released game should be one, not just another unfinished product. Steam provides the tools, please use them.

StarwinMarwin
StarwinMarwin

I wanted it to be good, but in its current state with the lack of empowering your character, the bosses hurting you before the animation hits you, it feals unfear and unpolished. Should have been marked as an Early Access game and not a full release.

Finally works, i had some issues with infinite loading screens, spoke to devs on discord and they fixed it for me. From my little time in the game i would say game looks fun, not a lot of stuff to do tho. I am exited when they add more content, especially different kinds of bosses that you can make and fight, for now they have there only some kind of knight guy. When they will have more base models for bosses that you can customize, not only humans but maybe even animals and monsters, that would be great. Game would be even more fun. Waiting for more updates.

Update:
Game is abandoned, don't bother.

This game is a work in progress, do not get it if you aren't into that.
However...

This game has something going for it and I love it. The art is fantastic and the idea of community made bosses is really cool. The fact that the game is this great early in its life is something to be said. That being said it is a little lacking, there aren't any ways to change or upgrade your playable character (and you cant play as the fox yet, sadly), it would be cool if there were smaller enemies before a boss or if you could create your own dungeon-like thing with mini-bosses and minions. The bosses are a bit hard but they are a lot easier to do if you play with a friend or stranger.

I have high hopes for what this game could be and I can't wait to see what the developers do.
(I also like the fact that they stream their own game; pretty cool)

This game is still getting updates and they are needed but this is a really fun hack and slash game with some fun boss making elements. Definitely worth the cost, great community behind the game as well!

Its overall a great game. Yes it has its issues but the dev team is hard at work on fixing them. The boss battles are challenging, so if you like dark souls esk fights then this would be for you.

ps. i clearly dont know how to write informative reviews

Seyton
Seyton

Willing to give a positive review because the core idea is solid and the developers are reliable in updating for years even for otherwise niche games. Early access gets a justifiably bad reputation but Sauropod do update their games reliably.

That being said much of the complaints about this game are valid.

Personally I feel like using more Souls style design philosophy would be more enjoyable. Such as giving us player customization, removing the shield/dodge bars and using stamina instead, having some minor enemies between bosses (which could also be player designed), and expanded weapon variety for players with light and heavy attacks. No one has done a 2D Souls-like game, and I think that would be enjoyable with the twist of player designed enemies.

One of the key issues I have is the fact that all your work and progress is going into making your boss characters, and the only feedback you get from that is your wins/losses. Otherwise the rest of the game is effectively you grinding bosses ranging from brokenly OP to literally broken to get gear for your own boss who you never get to play and/or see how they operate. Your character does not change, your play style is never different, and boss fights are limited to a handful of abilities.

hi
hi

Game has been recently relased its playable but it miss a lot of adjusting
-hitboxes
-key bindinds
and much more stuff to improve but lets talk about funny aspects of this game cause developers already working on those problems fast as they can they do care about the community

funny aspects
- you play as a crow or a dog you can bark at everything at everyone
- game is challenging you are fighting always something different and its tough and unfair so prepare your ass
- for defeating sentinels you also recieve items straight to your inventory on steam of i hope there will be market in future
- its coop so you can play with friend or a stranger you are given that option at the main base
- game is smooth itself
- graphics are simple and yet beatiful

The end - yet i recommend this game because i believe devs to fix all the possible bugs and stuff and we will be not ignored like most of the communities

Yikes... Where do I start.... This is a mess. I have a very high end system, Intel Core i9-9900K, 32GB of RAM and a GTX1080Ti, and the game stutters and crashes. The description of the game says "Partial controller support", meanwhile the first time you login you get informed that playing with an XBOX controller is pretty much a requirement. It doesn't say ANYWHERE that you NEED and XBOX controller... Okay, I try to play with keyboard and mouse, but all you can do is move around, you cant interact, you cant change options, no nothing. Wish I could leave a more detailed review, but that will be hard since the game isn't even playable. Can't recommend. Will be refunding.

As one of the playtesters and long time fan of sauropods my rating might be scuffed, but this is honestly a great game. If you can look past a few flaws and can deal with a few bugs here and there you can get a game that's incredibly fun and will be continually updated with new stuff.

You'll also notice how none of the negative reviews have more than a few hours in game, that's because the game is kinda hard. Which pisses some people off for some reason.

EntityZero

So I was scrolling through steam and saw this game pop up and thought it looked cool and wanted to give it a try as it has pretty mixed reviews but everyone who has a negative review here I believe doesn't like this style of game to begin with, is not very good at the game or didn't put any time into the game and didn't like it from what time they had with it. Lets get into it, it's a good game and definitely worth the money you spend on it. The game has some bugs though but lets be honest this game came out 3 days ago and works still really well with some bugs that a very dedicated team of developers as working to fix unlike some AAA games who's games dont work for days after launch with millions of dollars being thrown into them. This game though is not a dungeon fighting game it is as of right now strictly a boss fighting game and the bosses are extremely difficult, if you play this game for under 3 hours and are still struggling to kill some Sentinels (the bosses) and are writing a bad review well then you dont have enough time in the game because it is a difficult game with a learning curve that takes some time but you will get there and when you beat your first sentinel by yourself it is very rewarding. The game does say that it is meant to be played on an xbox one controller and I tried playing with keyboard and mouse and the developers were so right the game is 10 times easier with a controller so if you have one I strongly reccomend it. If you like hack and slash games with spongy bosses and rewarding loot and a good time with one other friend then this is your game but if it is not then dont leave a negative review and hate the game because you either arent good or dislike the game style. I enjoy this game and I look forward to what the developers have further down the road. 8/10

Combat is simple however in the face of an enemy with a random combination of abilities every time, it's more than enough to keep you on your toes and never let your guard down. Especially when they switch up their attacks at certain HP thresholds.

The two playable character models are cute however I do wish their equipment was customizable. Even if it was just their fur/feather color.

For a game that's a little more than a few weeks old, there's a lot of potential.

I of course made a video review of this game which can be found here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMk91n7rwkU

If you don't want to watch the video, and would rather read the script, ill just leave it here:
What is up ladies and gentlemen bois and girls, it's your host Zulo back with another vid, today we will be reviewing Mirador, without further ado lets jump right in
Mirador is a hack-and-slash adventure game in which you can play solo or in a duo squad, and you will face challenging player-created boss fights!
You play as a cute anthropomorphic animal from a late medieval world trapped in Mirador,
The main goal is to take down as many Sentinels aka bosses as you can and bring back loot to build and improve your own Sentinel!
You start off in the citadel, aka the main hub for the game, it is here where you will be creating and practicing against your own sentinel to make it the best it can be before setting it
loose to take on other players.
I feel like the one point I need to stress about this game is that it plays as a rogue-like game, which by definition means Roguelike is a subgenre of a role-playing video game characterized
by a dungeon crawl through procedurally generated levels, turn-based gameplay, tile-based graphics, and permanent death of the player character, leaning heavy into the permanent death of the
player as you will feel that a lot in your first hour or 2 of playing this game. As this game isn't for the feint hearted, you can expect to be learning
* timing for dodges
* when openings are for attacks.
* when is a good time to heal
* as well as more points that i can't think of

and on the complete otherside of that you will want to be honing your skills as a sentinel craftsmen as you learn to use the different circuits and abilities on your sentinel to make them
as difficult for other people to beat as possible. which both go hand in hand as you will need to grind for better gear by defeating sentinels to in turn make your sentinel be the best they
can be, while of course adding that extra bit of flair cause fashion in games emirite?

beyond that there isn't too much going on with the game currently as they are still working on squashing some bugs from launch, but I do know they are currently working on a roadmap, and
absolutely love any feedback they get, and have said if enough people want it then they will add it. As seen in this clip from Shatojon aka the head of communications and marketing for the
studio behind Mirador.

That being said it is up to the community to help dictate the direction of future content along with the developers. As they have been vocal throughout the launch of the game and seem to
frequent the discord enough to stay in touch with whats going on with community, which is always a great thing to see from developers these days. other than that some of my favorite bits about
this game is the soundtrack for the game, it is very mellow but also sparks a sense of curiosity when you first launch into the game and the fights you don't have to worry about being drowned
out by sound when you are focusing on gameplay. I also absolutely love the easy to learn hard to master controls of learning when you can heavy attack vs when you should instead light attack
followed by a evade, it almost gives you a kind of dark so-
Other than that I truly enjoy the different approach to the game they have given us by letting us create our own overly frustrating boss battles, customized to the nines with the most you
think someone can handle, then setting them loose and seeing it loot other players for you.

And of course there is 2 sides to every coin so I will say that the game can feel a bit bare bones at times, do to the fact of the completely bare naked areas you walk through to get to the
next sentinel which is probably something around a 10-15 second walk per one. I feel like something needs to be added there, maybe a mini-game? maybe some weaker mobs to fight before the
sentinel?
That and the fact there is no customization for my doggo or squawker, like i'll even take a bone as a weapon even if it is just cosmetic, I want something to show other strangers I meet in
game that I am in fact here to party.

I of course have been having a great time playing Mirador so far and have banked over 20+ hours since launch so I feel like I have gotten my moneys worth for a game priced at a mere 15 bucks,
but it wouldn't be fair to say this without knowning other people don't feel the same way, which is why I can't stress enough that this game isn't meant to be easy as that would take from most
of the fun in the game. I say this only because that's just about everyone's complaining point.
Anywhooooooooo hopefully everyone enjoyed this review of Mirador and hopefully it helps some of you in your decision of getting the game.. And as always take it easy! Peace!

At this point, this game is a definite no. Wasted over a half hour with bosses that were broken/glitched and not even functional. Once I got bosses working... they destroyed me without mercy. There is also minimal instruction and the dungeon map is pointless because it's empty and barren. Maybe I'll come back and play it in a year if it's still around, but for now I want nothing to do with it.

BaconPancakez
BaconPancakez

A good concept but the game is not finished.
Positives:
- Good concept
- Nice simplistic graphics
- Good controller support
Negatives:
- You can't rebind controls
- Keyboard and mouse controls are terrible (i especially hate that you dash towards your mouse)
- Bosses are either extremely hard or very easy
- Playing with friends was not possible for me (i waited 10 mins loading)
- There is no tutorial or even hints
- No character progression
- No lore when the characters speak like there is one

The game needs more development to be called a 'finished' product and the developers need to fix keyboard and mouse controls.
I may change my review after further development but for now i can not recommend it.

from never played till 4 hours in it is hard as hell to get into as its not the learning curve its the mastering thats hard but i love it to bits even if i die to 90% of the sentinals. (:P hell even to my own) the controls are good but i am playing with a controller so take that with some salt and it runs smooth even on my pc and its not the best but its not a potato so thats a plus. to end it all i will give a bug warning as of the time of writing this and that is sometimes (only had it once but its big enught of a problom to give notice of it) is hen you go to activate the gaste in the obsidion gate zone it may not open but i do not know if it extends farther to other gates as i die on the first sentional most of the time so oh well there. but all in all worth the 14 or so bucks.

Barely playable, game bugs, crashes, disconnects and so on.
Lacks variety (i know, how?) the player can change nothing! and the bosses have like 4 weapons and less than 10 special types of attack, not particularly fun for an ONLY boss battles game.
Also, some attacks are OP (too much damage), others are bugged on the hit reg.
Overall a mess

I've logged 30+ hours already and I've read many of the other reviews, and the negative ones fail to take into account several things.

First off, this game just launched and they are constantly fixing issues and deploying them. Yes the issues have caused frustration. However, they have solved several so far, including the "standing still" glitch and infinite loading screens. And there are more fixes on the way. This is one of, if not the, best dev team in terms of their relationship with the community, willingness to listen to suggestions, and also fix things in a timely manner. Huge positives.

Mirador is reminiscent of Hyper Light Drifter and Titan Souls. The gameplay loop consists of boss battles, looting said bosses, and creating your own bosses for other players to fight (known as Sentinels). If you die before checkpoints, you lose 30% of your loot. Make no mistake, this game will challenge you and punish you for not being good enough. But playing strategically and overcoming increasingly more difficult opponents and completing runs, is very rewarding. There is also online multiplayer with one other player, and you can invite a friend or match with someone randomly. Do note, that the Sentinel's health increases/ when with another player.

I hear some people complain that this game has no progression since you have the same sword/ shield/ boomerang for every encounter. That is the whole point of the game. Not to give you overpowered abilities that do the work for you. But rather, challenge you to become better. I hope it stays that way, but simultaneously, I do hope more variety is added. Different weapons, more mechanics, and even a few cosmetics would be cool!

As for the Sentinel creation, you get to choose from a good amount of abilities, many of which come in three rarities. The higher the rarity, the more difficult the spell will be to deal with. There are several weapons to equip your Sentinel (various swords, an axe, guns, etc.) as well as circuits. Circuits are the attack patterns you can customize, which is a really cool addition. The majority of my time in this game was from skirmishing my own Sentinels and tweaking them/ trying new attack patterns. Lots of depth here, but I do hope for even more abilities in the future.

I know I speak for many players when I say this, but Mirador really has a ton of potential. The game just launched and it has a bright future if it keeps going the way it is. I hope this game gets more exposure and positive praise, because it honestly deserves it. I hope this review sheds light on the kind of game this is, what to expect, and why it is well worth the asking price.

Thanks for reading!

This game is a scam few mechanics and for the ones that are dare it is quite frankly hollow and shallow. I have yet to beat a boss fairly most of the time they just stay still and glitched. the game is not prepared for launch and lacks content 3/10

I kept an eye on this game since its Kickstarter that didn't go through. The premise of a boss rush game where you fight player designed bosses with their own attack patterns seemed amazing and I still believe so. However, Mirador is one of the worst launched games I've experienced. In the 1 hour that I played I encountered several game breaking bugs ranging from bosses being able to hit you in melee far beyond their visual reach, unavoidable damage that goes right through blocking, constantly getting DC'ed, options reverting themselves upon restart, the biggest is probably making my own boss. I made my boss he won a few matches so I decided to tweak him. Changes wouldn't save so I scrapped him altogether to make a new own. Turns out that by deleting the boss it removes ALL the boss components I used from my inventory! You only get one boss frame so I was shit outta luck on making a new boss so that half of the game was bricked. Fighting bosses is nothing but a buggy mess where you get hit and die no matter what you do and making a boss simply doesn't work. I would be more lenient if they released as early access but no this is a full release of almost no content and all bugs. Give this 6 months before even thinking about buying it.

TLDR Game unplayable due to massive amounts of game breaking bugs.

Orion
Orion

The game itself is a grinding, boss focused hack and slash. The combat itself for your character is simplistic, but takes a lot of practice and determination to improve throughout playing the game. It's like a visually pleasing dungeon crawler, but the dungeons don't exist (for now?), just the final boss. The customization of the sentinels are incredible, with a large array of weapons, decorations, paints, and combinations of circuits you can use to create the ultimate fighting automaton. Its not something you can spend all day playing, but a game that you always could want to go back to for an hour or two out of your day. To me, that makes it a worthwhile purchase. I'm anticipating the updates in the future and I pray that this game lasts a long, long time moving forward. Super unique.

The only problem I have with this game is the meta. Ranged revolver/phaser type bosses are very common due to their high mobility and ease of avoiding direct damage besides the boomerang your character possesses. Just hope they change a few aspects of Mirador's meta and make it more suitable for multiple class types.

This game has a awesome concept and it really got me exited but upon playing it really feels not finished and empty. Its early access game with little content but its not and its the actual release. I noticed right away this game had several technical issues, lots of frame drops. Being that I was the only one to won this game I was glad to see a "play with strangers" feature but I never saw another person. The bosses all felt the same, with the same 5-6 abilities with maybe a stronger version thrown in.
So many good ideas but poorly exocuted. This game needs an overhaul, with more to do besides walking through emptiness to fight a boss then making a slightly stronger boss that effectvily functions like all the other bosses.

EternalDoom
EternalDoom

This game has ticked all my boxes in a way no others have before.
being able to design your own boss and send it to fight other players can be really cool once you get the hang of it.
although the combat appears simple at first it can be deceptively complex and fun if you spend the time to master it, learning the best way to dodge certain moves and exploit openings in their attack pattern.
although the game had an 'unfortunate' launch the extremely dedicated and responsive dev team have really turned it around and are continuing to update the game on a weekly basis.
almost all of the major problems have already been fixed and at this point my biggest complaint would be that the now out of date negative reviews and mixed rating are driving away players that might otherwise have enjoyed the game...

If you love SoulsBorne-style unforgiving boss fights, grinding for loot, and are partially insane, you'll probably like this game.

As is, I can't recommend this game to those who don't fit the aforementioned criteria. Difficulty aside, the game is currently quite buggy, so if you aren't willing to overlook a handful of annoying technical issues and some missing quality of life features, most definitely give it a pass for now.

Lucky for me, I meet all 3 of my criteria, so I'm loving this game.

Not a bad game. For such a title to have this in only the span of a few months surprises me.
While, yes, it is in beta, and yes, it does have very little to offer, I still find it fun. Then again, I get to make my own bosses and then fight other's bosses.
I only have three grips with this game that can be solved by the devs.
1. Customization items are consumed upon deploying a sentinel. I wish it was universal, but then again that'd remove some of the need to farm.
2. There is a lack of playstyles for the players. Could I please get a standard issue Bow and Arrow? Or maybe magic?
3. Can you please balance the weapons the Bosses can use? I win every time against the mace, but I can never win against the gun.

If those were fixed, this game would be better. Unfortunately, this game is better with more players, so I guess I'm left idly farming for my next boss while my 'Shades' go out and get parts for me.

Leon Kennedy

Alright, I would like to say a few things ahead of time: The game is currently under a very small playerbase, and due to mismanagement the developers have had quite a rough time. That said the game despite a rather small amount of content is still enjoyable both Solo or with friends. With that out of the way I will now go forward with the good and the bad.

The Good

    • The Gameplay - The controls especially for controller feel very polished and reactive, and while the control scheme is simple it very much complements the system they have in place for bossfights and learning them.

    • The Bossfights - This is a game that is focused on bossfights made by players. These are made through obtaining loot from bosses you defeat. A boss generally consists of a circuit (which is the movement scheme the boss uses) which can be filled up with a variety of abilities you can loot. Some of these abilities have several levels of intensity you can loot with expanding effects. With this in combination there is a rather large amount of bossfight patterns that can occur which you will have to learn during the fight to beat them. This is where the simple control scheme comes into play well.

    • The Artstyle - Simply put the artstyle is semi-simplistic and outright adorable. The characters consist of dogs and crows for playercharacter and NPCs and as of currently the bosses consist of mainly knights. The rather simplistic arenas you fight the bosses in help a lot to push the focus towards the effects coming from the abilities the bosses throw at you, so it becomes easier to identify what sort of attack is going on and how to avoid it.

    • The Boss Creation - This is actually a pretty fun mechanic that can really pull players together to create player boss events or even to challenge a friend to defeat your boss. You can also test your bosses out personally before deploying them. In the Discord players also share their boss codes so other players can fight your boss and they often give hints or comments on your boss. Once/If the community grows big enough I reckon this is the sort of mechanic that brings the playerbase together more so than the co-op feature.

The Bad

    • The Community is practically empty - Mainly due to the game not being advertised well at all, and the mismanagement that occurred among the Devs the game went WAY under the radar. This is a shame as it practically means that the play with stranger function is essentially useless in the game. You can ask people in the discord to play with, but the game would HEAVILY benefit from community growth due to its approach in both bossfights and co-op.

    • Lack of Updates - As the studio had to lay off a lot of their employees it is safe to say that updates will be few and far between IF they even appear at all. This paired with the lack of content at the moment makes the game as of currently rather shallow in depth. However if the game would get a sudden surge of players who knows what will happen?

Final Score: 7/10

The game is very much enjoyable, responsive and well-made. But the lack of content and playerbase really hurt it. I would like to see it grow in playerbase so that the developers can use that money to expand the game with new mechanics, items and boss abilities. Currently it is worth to buy in my opinion, but only if you invest yourself in the currently small community on Discord.

2401 Penitent Tangent
2401 Penitent …

This game is visually pleasing and that is probably all it currently has for it.

The game lacks a certain substance when it comes to a hack and slash style of game, mainly enemy variety or at least some form of lesser enemy. The road to the boss room is surprisingly long for having nothing to explore or any other enemy in the game besides the big baddie of the zone. A small legion of henchmen featuring 's boss would have gave me something more to want in a game like this.

In terms of the boss fights they can be pretty good aside from the part where you have a choice between a satisfying experience and the cheesemaster 500 where one tries to make your life hell with a bit of creativity and the other one is there for you to not have fun. I'm all for games that incorporate player creativity but when that's the only part of the game it will devolve from creative to "it's the same guy but some other person made him".

The game is visually interesting and i wish there was more to it than that. Going through the monoliths is a very satisfying transition between zones and they have taken a stylized approach to the game that makes it feel all the more whimsical but feeling it and experiencing it are two different things. Unfortunately you'll mostly be feeling it as there's not much that the game tosses at you for whimsy (if at all).

TLDR: Game looks neat, is actually the flavor of oatmeal

Souls-like? Check. Cute animal fighting protagonists - check.
What could go wrong?
Apparently just about everything else. XD

The selling point of the game are player-created bosses, except you can't create one with say only normal weapon attacks - you're forced to give it a selection of abilities even if you don't want to.
Plus mine got stuck on a loading screen while wanting to test the fight.

And player-created bosses in that nightmare of an editor mean unbalanced, glitched bosses that can easily kill you.
No thanks.

There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said. For a game boasting customization and player driver/made content, the variety in which to do that is ultimately lacking. It always boiled down to a single FOTM smattering of abilities that will be copy pasted across the majority of encounters. That's provided the work at all. feels like it was farted out to try and scrape some easy cash off the spokes of the old trend wagon.

Really neat visuals and concept but unfortunately abandoned and the gameplay gets really stale very fast with the same bosses over and over right from the start. I can only assume this is a result from no one actually playing the game too which is just sad.

It's abandonware. It's quite fun, but bosses, despite being playermade, often suffer from similar attack patterns, ideas, and since the goal is to make a difficult boss fight and not necessarily a fun one, things sort of just stay the same. I played through the game multiple times, until I got a message that legitimately said "You have defeated all the bosses!" that just sent me back to the hub.
I'd say try it, but I seriously doubt how long this game's servers will stay up, and once they're down, this game is less than dust.

It's a pitty I've bought the game recently, and I've only played a few hours. The game looked great, but as the devs are closing the servers there's no way to play it. If it had some kind of solo or offline gameplay I'd stick with the game for sure (it's beautiful, and really engaging).

But knowing this I feel I've wasted some money, which is a pitty. I hope the best for your next titles, but as a dev, pls, take these situations into account beforehand.

I still have fond memories of this game and the time I spent playing it with a dear friend of mine. Its a shame what has happened to this game and its studio as I'll never forget how great of an experience it provided for my friend and I at the time and what this game could've been with the ambitions from the devs. Thank-you Sauropod, it was a pleasure despite all of its shortcomings.

its bullshit how i paid full price for a copy of this game for me and my friend to have the servers shut down the very next week and now i cant get my money back and dont have the access to play this gem.

Developers latest news:

Hey everyone,

On the 2nd of May 2022, Mirador servers will be shut down and you will no longer be able to play Mirador, as it relies on online servers. We've communicated with Valve and the game will be retired from the storefront as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, the servers have cost us considerably more than the game's revenue and it's no longer feasible for us to keep them online.

Thank you so much for joining us on this adventure - while we're sad that it didn't pan out the way we had envisioned it, developing Mirador alongside our community was a unique and unforgettable experience. We're extremely grateful for everyone that chose to support us and tag along during that time.

Our previous game, Castle Story, is unaffected by this decision and remain fully playable, online and offline.
