Best Mortal Kombat for me. It has a fantastic learning curve and as you learn characters you will notice how deep is the game with great combo system that makes you want to extend it by trial and error.
i paid $110 for a game that everyone that bought the regular version got same people except shang sung. i would have never bought this game if you wasnt going to give us extra people that we paid for. now we have to wait 5 months for a new person
Garbage netcode, constantly forced to play against people with >100 MS ping or
Good : Gameplay
Story
Soundtrack
Roster
Bad : Invasions/Shrine (Krypt Was More Enjoyable)

Missing features at launch - Crossplay and wifi filter
overall 7-10
Lucky the people who may buy this game at the time I'm writting this review since it's automn sales, they didn't act like the ultimate supreme kind of pigeon I've been for paying as much as I did for its pre-order version. I am grumpy no friend loner yet I am realising I have crossed the limit of abusive carelessness with the video game business dirty practices. I have been a customer for the MK games since long time and despite owning XL, 11 and the qualities of this one, I have completely ignored aspects that are just sickeningly revolting. I realise now the greed and control freak habbits of NRS just went too far with the inaccessibility of all unlocked content for a second local player for example. This was the last time I allowed myself to be such a blind fool. The very last game I bought for a way too excessive price till I'm sure the supreme bs practices I quoted here but probably not the only ones would stop. Adios Mortal Kombat franchise for me untill perhaps the company gets back to its senses and stop trying to double triple quadruple screw us up deep inside "there", I strongly avdise against supporting them anymore in the current situation.
Very fun has a lot of upsides.
As someone coming from MK11 as their most played mortal kombat game the enhanced moves are a little janky so I don't care for that but I understand that it was reverted back to its MK10 form. Everybody does just a tad bit too much damage overall but that's nothing that cant be changed. Graphics are beautiful. Game play is satisfying. Customization is slightly subpar which was disappointing but I'm sure that that will be updated soon. I put my wallet and my faith in netherrelm.
This game just does not work. I have tried multiple fixes, and my PC fits the system requirements. I am just taken to a black screen where nothing loads. I tried submitting a bug report and reaching out to WB Games, but I was stiff armed there too. Do not buy this game.
It's a game that is enjoyable to grind and learn new aspects for a fighting game with kameo's being introduced. It's still a work in progress, lacking character selection imo. As well needing to incorporate cross-play asap to insure the life span of this game.
In short, MK 1 is an excellent refresher for the Mortal Kombat serious that does more good than bad. While it may be fun at first, just like every other MK game, it needs time to add more content and characters before it can be truly magnificent.
"Test your might" lol.
Laziest MK game so far, with the most egrigious monetization so far, which makes sense since Netherrealm has discovered mobile gaming.
The story in the grand scheme is interesting, but they absolutely missed an opportunity to make characters a little more interesting and 3-dimensional.
No rotating towers like MK10 and 11, and Injustice 2.
Replaced by a battlepass.
Extremely grindy (this is meant to be more of a live service I guess)
Best cosmetics, fatalities and new announcers can only be bough for more RL money in the store.
Finishers are short, boring and uninspired compared to MK11.
The real price of the game (if you want all the DLC which existed at launch) is closer to 100 euros than 70 (Kombat pass comes on top of that).
Great game but few things to note:
- PC optimization is worse than console
- No cross-play in 2023 (almost 24)
- DLC for new characters is too expensive
I'd say wait for the game to be on sale and buy premium edition to get most out of it (oh and btw, you still then don't get all the characters)
Honestly a lot about this game is fun. The visuals, story and characters are some of the best since MK9 but it's mechanics and fighting style is simply aggravating and not fun. The kameo system is interesting and creative until you figure out its a broken mess and people only pick the same two characters that are broken. The characters are fun but because of the kameo system they all end up being less unique and full in themselves. This game is a 'good' until you reach the point that you realise its a very well polished and designed mess. Then you also have all the greedy micro transactions as well.
the best game ever!! but it could be a bit more good if they added couple more option likee check the character in 3d view not in photo mode but when you go to buy something... and make the finish him time 2-3 seconds longer
Definitely the worst release of an MK game ever, and it's been 2.5 months already with one patch that arguably didn't improve the game by any degree. This game was clearly rushed and is still unfinished. No online practice, no competent ping or wifi filter, tons of bugs for some reason, and all for the cheap price of 70 base, or 110 if you're like me and wanted all the characters, which will eventually add up to 150 or more by the end of the game's life. Piece of garbage money grubbing WB ruined MK for the foreseeable future. If you can get over the obscene price and lack of features, the balancing of the game is just sad. You simply can't play the characters you want. Sure, you can play some of the worse characters but in this state of the game you really only have one kameo to use with each character. MKX had 33 characters with 100 variations, and you could pretty much play any one of them and get good and have fun. This game is the opposite. I try so hard to like this game because of how expensive it was, but I can't. I can recommend the story though, that was almost a 10/10 for any MK fan. The rest of the game is still in beta and should have never been released. I'm sure the game will be better in a year or maybe even six months, but I don't have a time machine. Maybe for the price of the game they should have sent me one in the mail. More disappointing than MK11, and I didn't think that was possible.
2/10 bare-bones version of past games and greedy WB continues to get worse and worse. Only buy if it's on sale for 10 bucks. This game sucks.
Probably not as bad as the MK11 action movie. The story is much more MK-like, which is a big plus. In terms of gameplay, it's pretty much like previous games, so NRS is clueless (as always) in terms of balance and frame data (e.g., Sub-Zero is at a disadvantage [-8]). Also, the game crashed a few times while playing online, and it looks like QLOC is not going to deliver Krossplay for the PC version. However, I'll probably keep playing every now and then while it's still supported, and patches are being released, but it's tough.
I bought this game for the Nintendo Switch originally and then realized it was a total flop so I decided to buy it on Steam Deck. I like it so far, the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is excellent. However, I wish there were more modes to offer for gamers. Invasion mode is decent but there aren't as many towers to complete as MK11. Characters have definitely gotten an upgrade (Liu Kang is a beefcake and always has been). This game is very good but MK11 is better in terms of variety.
