Cute game just like the first one. Definitely play part 1 first as this is a continuation of the story and picks up right where the first one ends. While the game is still mostly linear there is now a central hub that allows you to revisit areas. They also added some new weapons, each one having it's own charge ability which allow you to access new areas giving the game some metroivania elements. The game is slightly more difficult than the first, but not by much and there is more boss fights which are all pretty interesting.

If you haven't played the fist one, it's a third person action/platformer with some puzzle elements. You control Quill, the mouse, with the thumb stick and there is some actions you can perform with your hands to help Quill. While the Moss games are not exactly a shinning example of what is possible with VR as the core gameplay is stuff that has been done a million times in flat screen games, the VR does enhance the game play and makes you feel like you're part of the story. It's also nice to play a VR game where you can sit down, relax, and play in comfort without much physical movement. All in all this is one of the better VR games and definitely worth your time.

One of the absolute best VR games out there and a truly fantastic sequel and memorable game. Immersive, captivating atmosphere, tight gameplay and cute and charming as hell. I strongly recommend this game to every gamer who is considering or is into VR gaming.

This is a worthy sequel. If you haven't played the original, definitely play that first. If you have and you want more, then this will definitely deliver.

My only comment is that it's annoying how much the devs insist on making you part of the action and feeling connected with it. Yes, I get it - Quill couldn't do it without me. Blah blah blah.
The most unique thing about Moss (as a VR title) is that it is a third-person game, observing the story of another character. It's like they're constantly apologizing and trying to make up for not putting the player at the center of the action, and it feels heavy-handed and patronizing. This doesn't detract much from the overall experience, just my two cents.

Perfect all around. if you're on the fence just get it, this is by far the best story VR game that I've ever played. I loved it so much that I'm already looking for a similar game with the same amount of effort, quality, detail, story, voice acting, and gameplay. PERFECT!!!!

So it took me 14.5 hours to finish this. The entertainment value was well worth it. A worthy sequel to Book 1. I was able to accomplish about 2/3 of the tasks so I plan on going back in to complete everything, hopefully without cheats or any other help. Of special note was the artwork as well as the complexity of some of the puzzles. Don't give up trying but use your head to figure out the logic required

I loved the first game and am loving the second. When you're just inches away from Quill you can see her cute little backpack and you'll notice how fast she breathes. Mice breathe about 3x faster than humans and the game designers made sure to include little details like that in her character.

The first book was kind of a hidden gem, this one is probably even better.
Strong mechanics (very nice new ones BTW, less basic), beautiful graphics, perfect use of VR and controllers. That kind of "miniature effect" works perfectly.
The only thing it lacked for me is that it was not as much as a surprise. Still, I expected a lot and it delivered. GO PLAY IT !

Moss Book 1 was one of the first experiences that really sold me on VR, so this was my first purchase once I got a system that could play it. Book II lives up to the original in every way, and showcases how the immersion of VR can take what would be a solid traditional game and make it an incredible experience. I could spend ages just marveling at the variety of stunning environments you guide Quill through. The combat and story on top of that is solid, if a bit simple, but the game moves swiftly enough and adds enough new ideas to avoid getting bogged down at any point. Overall, highly recommend.

Very rare beautifully made AAA VR game that will have you looking around at the scenery as much as playing the game, and Quill is as cute as ever. If only there were more games of this quality available for VR.

The game continues the story from Book 1. Some new game mechanics have been added which add some extra depth to the puzzles and game play which is similar to the first installment and is just as enjoyable. You can now also change Quill's outfit. A must have game for VR users.

(And I still find myself talking to a virtual mouse, which isn't weird, at all...)

I rarely leave reviews on games but this game is completely amazing. The storytelling, gameplay and graphics are stunning. The cutscenes with Quill had me tear up. Greatly recommend this game as well as Book I.

Moss - Book II is a worthy sequel to one of the best story VR games out there.

Overall      ★★★★★★★★★☆ - 9/10
Music        ★★★★★★★★☆☆ - 8/10
Graphics   ★★★★★★★★★☆ - 9/10
Gameplay ★★★★★★★★★☆ - 9/10
Story         ★★★★★★★★☆☆ - 8/10

Difficulty ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ (deaths do not have consequences)

What did I like?

* better graphics
* more complex puzzles and world screens
* better music (I do love the battle themes)
* 3 different weapons
* world is now more non-linear and connected with a hub system (though one realm will be locked due to story reasons later on)
* Quill uses sign language in addition, very nice idea
* very good story for a sequel
* chapter select lets you collect and replay any story part again without the need to start completely over (no missables in collectibles and achievements)

What did I not like?

* the 6 relic dusts in the armor chest shrines are counted to the chapters but hint to the wrong area, which was quite misleading for me and I needed some time to figure it out. It would be more straightforwad if they just displayed the (missing) relic dust in the goal menu like the fragments so they are more connected to the area and not the chapters
* puzzle triggers and elements can get bug out and suddenly shifted to a wrong state sometimes if you died or reenter the area again (luckily this will never softlock you)
* some buggy clippings here and there where you just dash-teleport through walls or bounce off some invisible walls

Summary:

Basically Book II does do everything a little better than the prequel. It yet again proves that VR platforming can be super entertaining. It is a must have for all those people that like platforming and own a VR gear. Teaming up with Quill was so much fun once again - and yet prepare yourself for some very touching moments.

Perfect addition to the first game. It's more of the same, but the gameplay has enough new features to keep you involved and the graphic enhancements, while subtle, provide a greater sense of depth and scale. Must buy if you liked the first game

Setup
Setup

Amazing game and an overall improvement over the first part.
I did like how the bosses were "fairer" and all the new "abilities" that you now have in this game.

The only thing I would like to see improved is a proper shadow for Quill, to indicate where she will land after a jump. Sometimes it is kind of hard to see where you will land.

Moss book II continues where previous game left us, keeping everything that made the 1st game great and adding new features that make the game even more interactive and puzzling, it puts many VR games to shame both in looks and gameplay, if you played the 1st game, book II is a must buy!

If a beautifully done VR fairy tale about a mouse heroine isn't your thing don't get this game. If it IS your thing STILL don't get this game; get Moss. Moss is slightly better. If you play Moss and are hungry for more THEN get this game.

In my opinion, games like Blade and Sorcery, The Climb, Kayak VR, etc. are really nothing more than glamorous tech demos that provide examples of what VR is capable of doing, but without providing a complete game. I understand Blade and Sorcery is still in early access, but I doubt that even the full release will make it feel truly polished and complete. With the exception of Moss II, every VR title I've tried has felt like a tech demo.

I now have about a dozen VR titles scattered across different platforms. Moss II represents that absolute pinnacle of what VR is ideally suited for. This is a fantastic experience that can be completed in about 5 hours. It may seem short on paper, but I find that my VR play sessions are generally a lot shorter than when I'm in front of my triple monitor setup, so the game length was actually perfect.

The only mechanic I felt needed more polish in Moss II was the "charge sword" ability that allows you to sprint across gaps. I found it wasn't that good at showing exactly what direction Quill was going to charge, so I often found myself accidentally sending her over a cliff or into a chasm.

I haven't played the first Moss game, but was able to pick up the story pretty quickly. The story and overall concept of me being a "reader" was phenomenally well executed. The narrator was also perfect for the role - I love audiobooks and generally prefer male narrators over female ones, but Morla Gorrondona did a superb job.

Moss II is a 10/10 from me.

The best things about this series include:
- Interacting directly with the environment
- Interacting directly with Quill, which allows for bonding with her
- Puzzles
- Interesting weapon mechanics
- Game and story sections that could only be experienced in VR

The worst parts of this series include:
- Fighting and platforming
- Sitting back and watching plot happen without me
- Extended portions of gameplay that completely ignore the VR aspect or The Reader, who is ostensibly the player character

It really feels like this game wants to be something like The Last Guardian, where you're the Guardian.... but then it just forgets that idea at random and decides that it wants to be a weird fixed-camera third-person action/adventure rpg.

Overall, I liked both games. Hell, I liked the first one enough that I bought the second one immediately upon finishing the first. They're charming and fun, but ultimately disappointing in ways that make it hard to recommend them to people.

This game is great! Tighter controls than the first one and more "things" (trying not to spoil).

Its a must have for anyone with a VR headset imo. BUT dont skip the first one. The first one is not bad at all, its great, but most importantly its directly connected with Book 2. Its the beginning of the story.

I played both Book 1 and 2. The story line is...cute? I don't care. Visually, the most beautiful platformer game I've ever seen. So unlike almost everything. Like so beautiful that it kind of made my heart hurt. I truly hope they make more of these. Honestly worth the price of the Quest 2 just for this game. Probably could have been beat in one night but I knew how special it was so I paced myself and spread it out. I wish it were longer, but it's worth it. Buy.

Like the first Moss game, this is very clever. The platforming, environmental puzzling, and combat are all inspired. The Moss series deserves a place in the "must play" list for VR games. It's a masterclass in third-person VR platforming. The story has some good arcs, but also a few spots that are a bit flat. I can forgive the missteps in the story for how amazing the rest of the game is.

Great Story telling and scenery. i would take a look the scenery a bit before move Quill around. I liked how Quill try to tell me what need to do with gesture and sign whenever i got stuck on some area puzzle.

if you haven't play Moss before, go play Moss Book I first, before Book II. both game is equal great, book 2 is follow up ending of book 1.

Galu228

A perfect little game.

My only complaint is they gave Quill eyeliner in this one, which is weird. I liked how she looked in the first game better.

Everything else is exactly what it needs to be. The game excels in everything it sets out to do, although that list may be short.

The Moss games are some of my absolute favorite VR games. The wait felt like forever for Book II to come to steam but so far it has been well worth the wait. I love the story, the platforming, and being able to manipulate the environment and enemies. At the moment I'm only 1.5 hours into it but I'm already in love with Book II.

This game is a visual masterpiece. Often find myself stopping playing and just admiring the beautiful and detailed scenery. Gameplay is fun and not too difficult when you really think about the puzzles. Go check out this and the first one too.

This is one of the best VR games you can get right now. It's gorgeous and well paced, full of character and charm. Anyone with a VR headset should play it even if they haven't played the first one.

The level design is fantastic and the way everything fits together so that you can look in the distance and see where you are going and where you came from is just genius design/direction. It really feels like a AAA experience.

I have some complaints but they are ultimately pretty minor. The first is that the ending is a little abrupt and unsatisfying, and the puzzles seemed very simple this time around. I seem to remember the first game having some pretty tricky puzzles but in this game it seems like they opted to add new abilities/weapons rather than really flesh out the puzzles.
There are also some mechanics that are just never explained, such as being able to restore Quill's health and what the different armors do.

The combat is definitely improved but most of the time it feels like it's just holding you back from getting to the next part of the game. Artificial barriers that require you to kill a certain number of enemies before you can continue on just feel like padding more than anything of substance. And that's not to say the combat is bad or unsatisfying, it's more about the rest of the game being so good that you just want to get on with it rather than stay in one place fighting.

Buy this game, the developers deserve the support.

I consider MOSS one of the best VR games. The story is catchy; the VR environment is gorgeous! I am thrilled that Polyarc also made the second book. I can only recommend this game for all age categories.

It is a lovely game. Only got stuck once where I did not know how a new mechanic worked but that’s all. The game changes things up before it becomes repetitive. The story beats and pace are on point. The end did make me feel confused and dissatisfied, I think it is because I was ready for another fight but the storyteller takes control and finishes up the story and the rest of the game.

Truly one of the finest experiences there is to have in VR. This is the kind of game that should sell headsets. It is so amazing, so beautiful, and so thoroughly cannot be done on a monitor; it is an experience like no other. The game-play mechanics are all great too, and a fantastic, emotional, and perfectly told story make it an absolute MUST HAVE. You NEED the Moss games. Can you tell this is a rave review?

A stunning vr platformer with an absolutely fantastic story line. The story is definitely one of the best i've ever played through in a video game, ever. It's charming and adorable far more than i could've ever hoped for. the game is a must own for anyone with a vr headset.
Thank you to the people who worked on this, I'm very grateful to have played this masterpiece.

Very comfy and well made game. I applaud the devs for adding new weapons and better interactions. But I really hope for the next game (from the dev team and/or sequel) has move VR interactions that give me a reason to stand up and move. I really hope y'all really push the VR bounds and use as much as this medium has to offer.

I really enjoyed this game. i would have to say some of my favorite parts were the visuals especially the backgrounds and the big library place where you start at. I also really enjoyed the story and the little interactions you can do with Quill. i highly recommend this game and the first one if you haven't played it yet. i really hope they make more games like this even if its not in the same series because this is probably one of my top favorite vr games.

Masterpiece. Every little part of this game is just perfect. The gameplay in the first game was relatively straight forward and simple, where Moss II adds new levels of complexity that is engaging and incredibly fun. As in the last game, the art is wondrous and the music is breathtaking. The story had me hooked. This game is a must-play for any VR gamer.

Platformers work very well in VR.

Pros: Moss Book 2 is definitely improved from the first. Collecting dust has a reason, and there is more equipment this time. The story also amps things up in a good way comparatively. It's a fun game that I think most people would enjoy.

Cons: There were 4 or 5 spots where the next objective/solution to progress were vague enough my game play was halted until I figured it out. Also the combat lacks depth, even if there was only two different "combos" per weapon that could be performed the combat would feel much more engaging instead of only needing to tap one attack button repeatedly. Also waiting for the death animation is ok a couple times but quickly becomes a pain when you die multiple times in a row.

Purchased this because of the VR awards 2022. Have not yet played Moss 1, my VR headset has been sitting in a box for two years. It's an absolute pleasure to be transported into this world. Bought the game blind and my jaw dropped followed by a smile to experience a story book world. I can't wait to jump back in. Hopefully I can edit this review after I finish the game.

The first time I played Moss it blew me away and I have to say Moss Book2 had the exact same effect on me. You are transported back into a wonderful world and a great adventure. There are some new mechanics that add new aspects to the game but don't distract from the core idea. That is great because Moss is a great game as it is and there is no need for new gimmicks.
Also I feel that in the second book there is more interaction between the player and Quill and the relationship feels more real.
The only criticism I have is that there is a sequence where you have to clear a few levels using a different book and therefore play with a different mouse. This didn't feel right to me.
First of all this new mouse doesn't even like you and so it doesn't feel like you are a team and secondly, to me this game is all about the friendship and relationship between the player (reader) and Quill. It is at the centre of the story and I felt it unnecessary to interrupt that.
Apart from that it is an amazing game that everyone owning a VR headset should buy. I have played all the way through Moss about four times and I can see myself playing Moss Book2 just as much...probably more :-)

Railgun5
Railgun5

Absolutely amazing adventure game. Like the first it's a tad short, but it builds on the first in almost every respect and just makes it bigger and better. More combat options, more interesting enemies and levels, and a TON of interaction with the world that was missing from the first game. Absolutely worth a play when paired with the first game. I really can't think of anything the game does wrong, or even poorly. The devs accomplished everything they wanted to with this game, and it shows.

Edward Howton

Of the first book, I said Moss was a masterpiece in the true sense of the term. I said it should serve as an object lesson in precisely how to create video games, that Moss should be taught to students learning the profession. I also said that if any game were to match its quality, it might be its sequel.

Here we are, and the second book doesn't match the first. It somehow surpasses it. They somehow took the excellence of the first game and just did more of it more betterer. I had hoped this would be the case, but I didn't expect it. My grammar already failed me and now so do my words.

So. Moss was, in my estimation, the piece someone does to prove that they are a master at their craft. Not necessarily that they're doing anything new, but simply that they are doing it as well as can be done. Book two is a piece done by the master with the benefit of experience; tangibly better, but only the master himself could explain how. What more is there to say?

Perhaps we'll find out in book three.

This might be the best game i've played in VR (the first game is second). I think its because this unique style of 3d platformer works so well in VR, the graphics are amazing, gorgeous artwork and super immersive. The devs did a great job. I love the mix of 3d platform with first person 'god' view as it really immerses you in the environments (I often find myself not wanting to leave a level because they feel so rich and interetsing) . I wish there were more VR games like this. Nothing comes close so far. 10/10

If you liked Moss Book I, playing Book II is an absolute no-brainer. Book I is one of my favorite games of all time, and Book II is straight up better in every way. The only thing it probably won't do is recapture the same sense of wonder of playing Book I for the first time, but I digress. Easily my game of the year, by far.

Zixye

This is exactly what a sequel to Moss should be. It's a little bit longer, it's got a couple of new mechanics and it perfectly picks up the story where the first game left off. To quote another review, it doesn't have to reinvent the wheel to still be a good sequel.

The story is phenomenal, the visuals are stunning and the gameplay works really well. It took me around 6 hours to complete the game and then another 1,5 hours to get 100% achievements.

Lastly, I've noticed that not many people seem to know that this game even exists. Come on now, Polyarc, even a community post or two on the original game would've brought this to the attention of a lot more people.

Moss Book II picks up where Book I left off.
Very nice story driven adventure with a lovely mouse that will steal your heart.
The environments are amazing especially because it feels like you are there right at Quills side in VR.
For me the best VR game 2022.

BlueScreenJunky

This is very similar to the first game (The story picks up right where the first chapter stopped, but your inventory starts from scratch), with a few new mechanics. Overall a really good VR game.

The fact that it's a Quest port means it's not as visually impressive as it could, and some textures are pretty low resolution, but it still looks very good, and it also means it's easy to get a constant 90fps even when running at a high resolution.

jon.kroeker2
jon.kroeker2

The environments are incredible. I have no idea how they pull off this level of detail in a VR game when I only have a 1080 card. This game is on another level compared to 95% of the other VR games out there.
The game starts out feeling very similar to the first game but then progressively changes in ways where it ends up standing on its own as a unique experience.

Unheo
Unheo

Thoroughly endearing, engaging and entertaining. During its roughly 6 1/2 hours of gameplay (likely over 7 hours for completionists), the second Moss outing provides further prove that third person platformers work unbelievably well in VR. None of the very minor gripes I may have lessened the experience for me. The worst thing about the game is its lack of marketing that will mean that too many potential players will miss out on a consistently great game.

Pros:
+ A charming fairytale-esque story that is treated seriously enough to keep you engrossed.
+ A delightful main character with quite a few small animations and interactions that further the player's attachment. The other members of the small cast are somewhat less fleshed out and only act in limited roles in the story. Still, they fit very well in the fairytale-like world and story.
+ Wonderfully crafted environments that impart an impressive sense of atmosphere. As expected, the environments do look even better in the PC VR version compared to the Quest 2, with better lighting and some improvements in textures and model complexity. I did, however, expect a more pronounced update of water surface effects in the PC version. Overall, it is a very nice improvement, while still maintaining a stable, high FPS performance.
+ A decent variety of weapons, armor and ability options with a well paced introduction of additional abilities - just when I was hoping for a wider array of options, new abilities were presented. The smaller inventory system works pretty well.
+ Clever, if typically somewhat easy environmental puzzles with a nice variety of interactions by the player in their role as the reader. Optional collection quests add some nice further puzzles.
+ A decent enemy variety that also serve as interactable elements in the puzzle design. The fights are again somewhat on the easier side.
+ Collectathon elements are kept light and a chapter select with detailed overviews of missed elements is provided for ease of access. At the time unreachable elements are found in areas that will be entered at a later stage when the abilities to reach them are available.
+ Fitting and well done music, sound design and voice acting. The narrator's voice works very well for the storybook framework, especially, considering the number of roles she takes on.

Cons:
- Some minor graphical elements could use more polish, like Quill's placement on uneven ground. Here, her feet will often slightly float over inclines or bumps.
- Analog stick input can be slightly unwieldy in some platforming sections or on narrow bridges. A balancing animation at the edge might have improved bridge traversal.
- As great as it is to see the cathedral with its variations, sometimes the nice book illustrations and narrations do take over, where directly observing the interactions would have been more atmospheric and engaging - but it is easily forgivable, given that one has to work within one's budget, and I am glad that the work was focussed on more crucial areas.

An excellent follow-up to the renowned Moss. The game picks up right away with old tricks and new, including the addition of multiple weapons necessary for solving the many puzzles that await Quill and the Reader. A short playtime but one of the best games for third-person VR.

A lovely sequel to the beloved Moss, and every bit as pleasant and cute. Significantly longer and more complex than the first, which is exactly what I wanted. I'd consider it an automatic buy for anyone with a VR headset. Play the original first.

The first Moss was one of my favorite VR games, and this takes everything excellent about it with new environments and mechanics. This game does not require any VR legs, and can be enjoyed by anyone who likes platformers and puzzle games. The characters are adorable and really well animated, and the story did not disappoint. I love introducing friends to this world, and I look forward to whatever they make next.

I've been waiting for this to come out, the environment so far is very immersive and huge, I could sit and just relax in the world and take it in, love the grow powers added in, awesome new things. I will say with my 3090ti and 12900k the graphics are crystal clear, I don't really like the vive wands in this as much as i did the move controllers but I wouldn't trade my Vive Cosmos elite with lens mod for anything. Thank you for putting this out on steam for PCVR, I can't wait for more from you.

Moss Book 2 is an excellent conclusion to Moss. The ending is more satisfying than the To Be Continued of the first game, it's longer and more varied. Although the controls remain simple and intuitive, more options means that puzzles (including boss fights) can become more organically complex than they were the first time around, and more satisfying. Combat and puzzles are both designed to be easy enough for anyone to complete. The animation work remains top-notch, giving Quill more personality than most flatscreen protagonists; I particularly enjoyed the animations using the last weapon in the game.

The world looks relatively handsome--prebaked shadows and GI means the visuals look a lot better than the real-time engine could manage with the only shortcoming being some low-res textures here and there. That isn't a huge problem since things generally still look nice, although it can be awkard since some objects exhibit extremely high-quality textures while nearby large objects have broad blurry shadows. The characters don't get those shadows or GI but that just makes it look more like a traditional cartoon with bright flat-colored shapes on richer more realistic backgrounds. Not a bad aesthetic.

Also, I had a problem with the game, a crash that prevented running after the first run. Devs fixed the issue within 24 hours. That's impressive.

All in all, Moss Book 2 is an excellent continuation of Quill's story and a worthwhile buy for anyone who played the original.

Like many people, I have been waiting for ages for this game! Going back and playing Moss Book 1 to pass the time and relive the beautiful masterpiece that Moss is known for. I almost bought this on the Quest 2. As I wasn't sure how much longer I could wait, but I'm glad I didn't. As the PC VR experience is second to none. The textures, lighting and fine details are amazing.

So is Moss Book 2 worth it?!? Yes, of course! If you loved the first game, then you will be compelled like me to play the 2nd. We need to know what happens to our cute little friend Quill. Plus, there is enough variety and new mechanics to keep it fresh, but still familiar.

If you're new to Moss, then I highly recommend you buy both. As the story in the 2nd does follow on from the 1st. Guaranteed you will be lost in the world of Moss. With its captivating story and its highly immersive diorama scenes that compel you to look around and absorb them in. The music is top-notch and so are the sound effects. This is a true triple-A game from a smaller studio of well-known Devs. So do yourself a favour and enjoy the absolute treat that is the Moss series. You will not regret it.

The best VR platformer is back. To me, Moss (Book 1) was one of the best VR games, and Moss: Book 2 continues right where Moss ended. This is one of the PCVR games I anticipated the most this year. I've waited 4 years for this game - and I completed Moss in 2018.

Moss: Book 2 launched first for PSVR, then for Quest 2. Fortunately devs spent much time enhancing the PCVR version, so the quality is same as Moss (PCVR). You will not be disappointed with Book 2, if you like Book 1. See the extreme improvements made for the PCVR compared to the Quest 2 version here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/y9skn6/moss_book_2_index_v…

Lighting, textures and some assets have been much improved. (Or maybe we just got the PSVR version which has been enhanced for PS4 Pro and has similar textures and lighting as the PCVR version.)
I'm using a RTX 3090 and i9 10900K cpu, and I can run many Quest ports using Valve Index res 400 or even 500 %. Not so with Moss 2, the game has 3 settings for graphics, and using the High setting I'm down to about res 250% to get solid 90 fps. Thus this game is demanding - but when Moss 2 shines the most, few VR games shine more:

Gameplay is much like Moss (Book 1), but the devs have had many years to improve puzzles, and they did - not going to spoil anything, I'll just say that for the content Moss Book 2 is a true sequel to Moos Book 1.

The Steam version supports both SteamVR drivers and native Oculus/Meta drivers, so if you have a Meta/Oculus hmd you'll get optimal performance too. I've tested the game with the Valve Index and Rift CV1. Rift CV1 looks great in this game due to oled - and some low-res textures even look better with some SDE to cover them, while lcd hmds will reveal even the smallest flaw. So don't worry if you have an older hmd like Vive (Pro) and Rift CV1 - you'll still get a premium experience. Btw, the game even detected my old Touch controllers perfectly - and did the same for Index controllers. Sound and music are awesome too.

My rating is 8/10 - and it took me 10 hours to complete the game. Would have been 10/10 with higher polygon count, proper high-res textures and dynamic shadows - this feels like the PS4 Pro version enhanced for PCVR with a setting for low, medium and high antialiasing.

Btw, initially Quest owners got to pay $40, PCVR today is only $30 (or down to €25). I guess that's fair due to the wait, but we also get the best version of the game - far beyond the bottom-end graphics of the Quest 2 and PS4. For PCVR, this game really is worth at least $40, so it's great with the reduced price.

This is basically book I with the kinks ironed out. It looks like they went in with the idea of making a proper sequel but not reinvent the wheel. You can go in expecting everything you got from Moss I, toss in a few new ideas, new environement and it makes for a beautiful game.

The game picks up where you left of, the story is engaging and I can't state this enought but the environements are as magical as ever.

100% worth picking up.

Don't get me wrong with the thumbs down, this game is excellent. It improves upon everything from the first game. However, it took me slightly less than 6 hours to beat - and I don't consider achievement hunting (I got 71%) afterwards as sufficient justification for the $30 pricetag.

If this goes on sale for $20 or less it's a must buy for anyone who likes casual, atmospheric VR platformers. But I think it's overpriced at $30 considering its length.

Just played the first 2 hours and it is very clear that this is just as good as the first one or even better!

There are some nice additions to the gameplay which are introduced one by one and also the scenes are just sooooo beautiful! It is simply breathtaking how much work went into each scenario.

If you liked the first one this is an absolute must play!

This a great polished game, same as the first but moves a little faster with a larger scope. Definitely get it if you like the first like I did. The only thing I didn’t like were the exposition sections with the book, I tried to stick with them when they came on but for the most part I just started skipping through them. There were a few uncontrolled “cinematic” scenes in the game where the characters played out exposition in front of you that were UNBELIEVABLY EMOTIONAL - I wish the book interludes were done like this, with sprites instead of the still pages, I think I would have been much more invested in the story if they had been. Still a great game, get it!

Wow, just what to say. I don't write reviews really at all, but I felt I needed for this.

Maybe I should start by saying that Moss is the reason I bought VR, and Book 2 not only doesn't disappoint but exceeds expectation. Quill is wonderful and this was a story I fell in love with.

The gameplay feels great most of the time. I will say that jumping sometimes is a little awkward when quill goes in a slightly unexpected direction or not quite far enough, but otherwise the game is solid.

The story is what I came here for, to help Quill, my friend, and I wouldn't give up the time I spent in this game and its predecessor for anything. It's well worth the price, and I may be biased but I would have paid more. I know some people say this game is too short for the price, but it is worth it. This game may not be a 100 hour epic, but unlike those hundred hour epics Moss will make every moment count.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sequel. Anyone who hasn't played the first one doesn't need to in order to enjoy this.

For those that have you'll know what to expect, although for me Moss 2 had much more to it, both in terms of Quill's (the mouse) abilities, and the types of environment she will encounter (without giving away spoilers).

I certainly hope we have a Moss 3. Should that be the case I realise that having exclusivity on other platforms that incentivise that means PCVR via Steam will take a while, but I'm personally happy to wait over it not coming to Steam at all.

Thoroughly enjoyable game, and the final few scenes that lead-up to the boss battle at the end were intense and pay-off emotional. Good luck Quill, as the Reader I'll be ready... ;)

This took me 5.5 hours to beat. If you like Moss, you'll like this. I don't consider it that different, but it does have an additional playable character, additional weapons, and some new mechanics. I played the Moss Twilight Garden DLC before this and felt like this was very similar to that, almost too similar in some places (reused character assets). One cool difference is that the cathedral/library/church you're in when reading the book in between levels completely changes after each level, and that was a nice touch. To me, the puzzles seemed a little easier than Moss, but that might have been because I was used to the gameplay. My playthrough is below:

Was very surprised to see this suddenly pop-up but I'm glad it did!
Been waiting for it to hit PC ever since the PSVR release was announced.
Quill is cute as ever! :D

Platforming, combat and puzzling is top notch!
The boss fights were also great fun.

Graphically it looks great only an odd low res texture here and there but not too distracting.
Most assets look good. :)

Soundtrack is again done Jason Graves which fits very well with the game, can be found on bandcamp.

If you loved Moss I you will definitely love Moss II too! ^^

Thanks Polyarc for creating this wonderful game!

Only sad part is I finished the game now...

I have been WAITING for this sequel since I played the first one. This whole series initiated my novel, that's how much I adore the world of Moss. If you've played the first one, it's a continuation of the story. There is some familiar mechanics you'd be familiar with, and some new ones I haven't seen before. I cannot wait to find out more about this story. I cannot recommend it enough.

A really fantastic game with ambiance to spare. The world you enter as Quill's reader is beautifully executed, with hints of storytelling that make the lore feel deep and the player feel nearly mouse sized. I really can't emphasize enough the magic that polyarc created with each scene of this story.

The gameplay is fun and engaging without being frustrating or too demanding. Puzzles aren't mind-bending, but there were a few that slowed me down.

Other reviewers have said it, but I will reiterate, Quill has become a dear friend. She had me by the heartstrings from scene 1 book 1, and that fact has only become more true here in book 2.

Flawless from start to finish, improves on the first game in every way. My current VR game of the year and one of the best VR games ive played. If you enjoyed the first game you have to buy the sequel

Aaahh - it's games like this that make me wish the PC VR scene was bigger! This game needs to be seen and played by more.

It's utterly beautiful and incredibly immersive, using VR in a way that I wish more games did. It's also wonderfully relaxing while having just the right level of puzzles and combat to stimulate the mind. It really makes me wonder what a Nintendo or Rare could do in VR with a AAA budget. They must be looking at games like this for inspiration. Some of the setpieces and environments in this game are just so impactful in VR - I just wish there were more.

It's a great game and one I'd recommend to anyone with a headset.

More Moss, just slightly improved here and there. If you liked the first, you'll like this one. It's a gorgeous, fantastic game with great animations, voice acting, attention to detail. You just know a lot of heart went into it.
About as long (or short) as the first one. 7h for a 100% achievements run may seem like not great value, but the game makes up for it in quality.
I wish there were more games like this.

Just like its predecessor, Book II embraces its storybook/fairytale approach to the fullest and is a damn fine example of making good use of the VR aspect: some might argue that the game would work on a flat screen as well, and I agree to an extend, but the pure magic Book II instills through its unapologetic VR nature would be all lost. The environments, even more than in Book I, are a sight to behold from beginning to end and the ability to experience and examine them first hand lends a lot to the fascination this game provides: a miniature world made for mice, observed by the human-sized player, who themselves is often surrounded by the remnants of a forgotten civilization.

Gameplay-wise, Book II is rock solid and a proper evolution of its predecessor, but also never gets overboard with crazy ideas or such. Puzzles work, make good use of the VR aspect and are generally nice, the combat system works but is pretty standard (although "Mouse with a big and heavy f-ing hammer" is an archetype I'd now love to see more of) , the level design is straight forward but knows how to entertain with a ton of visual variety.

Voice acting, sound and music do a good job. The story itself is as straight forward as the gameplay, doesn't surprise with any intricacies, works well for the game and is nothing to write home about - its presentation however makes up for any shortcomings. One of these presentation aspects are the beautiful illustrations you'll see as the story unfolds, and another of course (especially, but not exclusively) Quill's animations. So many unique things going on with her that it's just a pleasure to watch, and at some point - and that's a promise - you'll absolutely feel a certain pain she'll be going through at the time.

Moss: Book II is a great game that concludes the story in a satisfying way while still leaving room for a follow-up. Recommended.

An absolutely wonderful journey with Quill. If you played the first Moss, Book II carries on with more mechanics, more enemies and a deepened story that pulls you in. Not just with the world you're placed in, but every chapter, every character has their own personality. If you own a VR headset, this game is definitely a must play.

Moss: Book II follows in the steps of Moss and keeps the fairytale theme. The platforming, weapons and abilities have been expanded in smart ways and the story it tells is worth playing through. It's a cute game. It's also a good game.

Been waiting for this game to come out , i did not even realise it was in the steam store , but if you are like me and loved the first one , the second certainly does not disappoint. prepare yourself for an emotional roller coaster of a game. i really cant wait to see the next in the series.

Fantastic sequel to book 1. Its everything I had hoped it would be aside from length. Its longer than the first game, but still rather short.
The story is something else. Its rare that I feel this kind of a connection to a game character. Its not a complex story persae, but the way its told is something I hope is adopted by many games in the future.

Polyarc, if your reading this. Do not let this be the last time I get to see Quill. I want more adventures with this adorable mouse. Thank you!

Animation, game play, level design, music, story, graphics, narration, this is just one of the best game ever made tailored for the VR, there is really not a good reason you shouldn't buy if you own a VR , ah yes, there is one: it ends.
If you played the first Moss here you will find far more, not just more levels.

I absolutely, completely loved this game. The graphics and music are beautiful and Quill is adorable. The puzzles weren't very difficult and were fun to solve. I liked how each of the boss battles required different strategies but they weren't overly difficult either. This would be a good game for someone new to VR and a casual gamer.

Play Moss: Book 1 before this game.
Moss: Book 1 was one of my favourite VR games, so when Book 2 started out as very much more of the same, I was already satisfied. But about a quarter of the way in to this new book, it really began to feel like a successful sequel.
New weapons offer new mechanics, keeping the gameplay fresh. This feeds in to the puzzles that each room represents very nicely. The story becomes a lot more compelling as the role of the reader is fleshed out. And some of the new environments are stunning. The game ends up an improvement all round on the first book.

This is a great game which I heartily recommend. Now I look forward to Book 3.
