longest i have waited for a game is 14 seconds and i play at cooked time of the day/night. so player count is no issue.

pretty good game but i find it suffers from the same thing as smash and most mario games. its fun AF but gets dry real quick. not that many game modes at the moment but im sure they will add more as time goes by, same thing for characters. its great for a couple games, they go quite quickly so its a good one to have in the library.

on the topic of characters they are a bit expensive, works out to be about $7 AUD a character but you will unlock them naturally as you play. personally i didnt want to be limited on character so i bought me and my girlfriend the founders pack so we weren't stuck with the same characters having to grind to unlock them all. and $150 AUD for the founders pack for 30 character tokens and in game currency, plus a few cosmetics. i think its good value if you will play the game heaps. works out alot cheaper than buying gleamium for individual characters and allows you to save more coins for upgrades on your characters.

i wouldnt say its on the same level as smash but for a free game its pretty great, i never have lag so idk why so many negative comments about it.

all in all, its free dude, just download it and try it.

Not gonna be a long review. If you love any of the characters here and you like platform fighters you'll like this game. The only issue with this game at the time of this review is the server stability. The servers are absolutely the worst thing about this game once they turned crossplay on. Assuming it gets fixed this game is perfect. At least I think so.

This game is generally a very good game. It features several popular characters that battle to the death in a super smash bros style game. The game is constantly being worked on and updates come out about biweekly. A strong game overall and I highly recommend it.

Lack of content
no Free skins or grindable skin
Founder edition not much benefits
No new game modes
Gold is useless
Challenge points is expensive
Battle pass is time consuming and lack of rewards
no communication in game beside emotes
Too much nerf or changes which can lead to force you to play another character which depends you style
Nothing in Shop
Participating events should be rewarded automatic instead of receiving by email and redeem the codes in the website which is dumb
Every cosmetic is expensive cant spend with gold or no cheap bundle deal version

The servers were working better on release than now. I don't know how you turn a good server into a bad one but the devs did it

Everything I wish Nicktoon All Stars Brawl was. The grind can be real, and there's no way to farm one of the currencies, however the rest of the game makes up for it. Highly recommended!

I enjoy this game so much, but these unstable servers are killing me. It's so upsetting when my whole play is ruined by stage warping to server stuttering. Fix your servers

1. Cool Characters
2. Awesome voice lines
3. Eye candy gameplay

1. Janky/OP moves
2. Server Connectivity
3. Skill Based matchmaking
4. No Breaking Bad Characters (Add Walter White/Gus Fring)
5. Small Playerbase

Have a good day reader and have fun on this game for a good 5 minutes before the servers crash and kick you out of your match, but seriously the game is fun try it out. It is bad at some times but its fun to play. I have 300 hours Lels.

It was fun until reached 50 tier on season pass, completed all milestones and daily missions, 100% achievements and there's nothing to do next. WB is spending so much time on hween events and other things that they want make us to spend our $$$ on the game. I'm tired of waiting. It has been like that for a very while.

If you are tempting about to play this game, there are two things you need to know first before playing MVS.
1. Everything's about $$$. They want you to spend your money to get skins, banners, emblems and more. They have expiration date on it, they're trying to make you rush to buy them before they're gone. It's a dirty business. I've bought founder's pack premium edition, a several skins, banners and emblems. None of it is worth it. After you completed the season pass, you never go back to MVS again until new season pass came out or events. The game is pretty dead after reached 50 tier.

2. Requires A LOT of hours and hours to play to get what you want. For an example... there is a skin I want for Jack from the H'ween event. It costs 12,000 candy and it took me 4 - 5 hours playing nonstop. I've earned only 2-3k candy. Unbelievable! The fastest method to farm candy is FFA. 20 lose. 40 win. For 12,000 candy. It requires you 30 hours of gameplay in FFA to get a single skin which is ridiculous and not worth it. There is NO guarantee you can get all skins before event ends. Otherwise if you are staying at home, has no job and willing to cost your arm & leg to get all the skins then you can.

This game is amazing but the features and ideas are just plain stupid.

I love the game, but there's a bug that's trucks me over every other game.

So, I play fully on keyboard, but have found that I'll oftentimes lose directional input. I think it's only for keys that are held. It just completely drops out, but comes back when I lift my finger and press the key again. It's almost always enough to get me knocked out when it happens offstage.

I thought I was just imagining it at first and wasn't reacting fast enough, but I've been able to repro it against an AI enemy in The Lab. I can be having the button firmly pressed and it wont react at all, but then will when I re-press it it's back to normal. I think it has to do with getting stunned whilst airborne or something. I'll update if I figure out how to reliably make it happen. I'm also playing in Borderless Windowed in case that matters.

Game balance is missing so far, the server stability sucks and the mmr system doesn't seem fair when you can lose nearly 3 times the points you gain from losing 1 match.

Update: Morty is in the game, but their balancing team still doesn't do much good and the servers still suck. At this point things teleport around every match and hitboxes are basically broken. Morty is overtuned and feels like the balance team was high when designing it. I maintain my opinion, stear clear of this garbage if you're interested in 1v1s.

Downloaded because Velma is thicc, but MVS is quickly becoming the only thing I play.

Good netcode, solid playerbase atm as far as numbers go, really fun and addictive gameplay, fantastic character-concepts.

The worst thing about this game is the presumably 12 year-olds on the forums and discord.
Highly recommend.

this game is great it is very smooth you can tell that the developers cared for this game and getting to play characters from movies and tv shows i used to watch is great the different moves they Incorporated into the characters is great and not being a big fan of fighters i loved this one getting to play 2v2s and having someone on my team a friend or random makes the game fun for me takes away from how personal other fighting games can be all in all fun game

If you're looking for something to scratch the Smash itch, don't. I don't see this game going anywhere with the state of the community.

Toxic sludge is the blood that flows through fighting games. If you don't have even the slightest bit of tilt when you're playing a fighting game, you're a psycho. There's plenty of that to be had here, but nobody seems to know when matches end. All I hear are complaints about how the game isn't good enough. How they need to add "this character" and "that character". How egregious the monetization is. How the servers make the game unplayable regardless of if you're wired or not. These are REAL ISSUES, yes. But at the end of the day, if the game is fun, these can be looked over and anger can be contained within the 1-4 minute matches.

There is no fun. I understand this is my opinion, but I'm only here to help anyone reading this avoid the same loop I got into. It's a nasty self-perpetuating hate cycle that makes you keep playing only out of spite, matching you either with FreshMango2566 who has 20 total matches or LegendTTV who has 20x your matches. Afterwards, getting a rematch makes you feel indifferent while not getting one ruins your mood immediately. There's two types of people playing this game for more than 5 hours- people like me who are playing it due to FOMO, or people that are playing it so they can be good at something new and get recognition. I watch small streamers play this, and while the larger streamers get consistent wins it crushes me to see the little guy so clearly not enjoying himself. They look to chat to not feel completely hollow inside, just like I have to look to my friends in a VC in order to even boot up the game now that I've completed the battle pass and my mental handicap isn't being exploited. There are people that genuinely enjoy this game, and if you do, power to you. I was one of them in the Alpha, when everyone was playing the game and the game wasn't playing them.

Again, if you're looking for something to scratch the Smash itch, don't. Rivals, Brawlhalla (Not my pick but my friend likes it), SLAP CITY. Please go check out Slap City. It just got an update and it feels so much better on the mind and the soul. This game offers so many things to critique and not enough enjoyment to distract you from all of the complaining going on. I have complaints, a lot of them, but I also know a lot of them really are just insignificant nitpicks planted in my head by people that only want to hate. So please, stay away from the community and play a game with your friends. The game isn't dying unless everyone thinks it is.

Multiversus is the Smashbros we've been waiting for on PC, well at least the cut down version with the only focus being multiplayer.

Personally I want to love this game and keep playing it, but it's hard to recommend when the content being released is extremely slow, and the servers are beyond a joke from a lag perspective. In the beta the game felt smooth (aside from some hit reg issues), but as time has gone on the servers have degraded to a point where your opponents and teammates are skipping 5-10 frames at a time..

Watching some streamers, it seems ok if you're close to the servers with full green bars, though in West Aus, we only ever experience orange bars and it's a completely different game.

I'll continue to play the game as the occassional match which is smooth is great fun and competitive, but for now I'll avoid recommending, and suffer until they get their sh** together.

LegacyofScooter
LegacyofScooter

Multiversus is, in my humble opinion, probably the best platform fighting game you can get on PC. The only thing that would knock this game off the pedestal would be if Nintendo decided to play nice and wide release Smash Bros on all platforms (which is a pipe dream of the highest order). Each character plays just differently enough to where none of them feel completely foreign, but not so similar that it doesn't matter who you are playing as. The only real exception to that rule is Iron Giant, who is very fun to play as once you get the hang of him, but a pain in the butt the first few matches as you continually get beat from pillar to post because of just how big of a target you end up being. This is a game that is great for people that are relatively new to the platform fighter sub-genre of games because most of the time what makes the games really fun is the characters and this game has so many characters that so many people will be able to identify and enjoy playing as.

Mr Business

I can't see a way to recommend this game in good faith at this point in time.

The servers are beyond a joke. The game consistently lags, rubberbands and is borderline unplayable at times.

The lack of interesting content to retain players is a problem. Monetization in a game with such limited content and hiding behind the "beta" banner is not ideal.

At the end of the day though, the biggest issue with this game is that it is just incredibly stale. The core gameplay itself is lacking in many places, namely that you can dodge cancel out of almost any move, leading to the game feeling very spammy. Against new players (which you will fight because the game has no ranked and abysmal matchmaking) you will destroy them, and at higher levels it becomes a spammy mess.

Really disappointing. Hopefully Player First can figure it out, but thus far they haven't given any reason to have faith.

The XP required to go from level 3 - 15 on the character mastery track has been doubled
We were finding that players could get to level 15 of the mastery track too quickly. This is to help us make it a bit more of a journey. It takes over 10 hours to get to level 15 now it will take 20. You had a good progression and you fucked it up congratulations idiots. I'm not playing for 2 hours just to get 1 level fighting against nothing but level 15's while have no skills for the first 8-10 hours of playing. Don't waste your time or money on a game that the developers are actively working to kill. We are on patch 1.03 and all 3 patches they added make the game more grindy and unbalanced. Rick and Morty are fun until you realize you have to play nothing but that character for the next 20 hours of you gaming experience. Sure there are people hitting level 15 in a day but those people play video games 20 hours a day. Making your fighting game a relentless grind just because no lifers are no lifing your game is a perfect example of punishing those that aren't the problem. I spent $80 on this game and I have 1 character with abilities. I'm pissed no one wants to grind in a fighting game. Does DOA, SF, SC,or Tekken make you grind so that you can use skills? No they don't need to because people actually enjoy playing those games. If you want another game to grind in, this is the game for you but I'm grinding in like 5 different games right now and it's getting depressing how many games have broken progression systems. No one has time to complete all of these fucking battle passes. Not to mention every decent skin in the game cost irl money and cannot be obtained though play. So even if you do grind in this game all you unlock is abilities for your character (abilities you should already have) and 1 skin at the end of a battle pass. Imagine if DB FighterZ made you play Goku for 20 hours to unlock Kamehameha. FUCK THAT I'm sick of scummy bullshit in every single online game. I actually miss loot boxes. At least loot boxes were random and exciting finding myself losing game after game cause I'm trying to complete challenges rather than win just to unlock 20 pieces of useless currency or once every 2 months a skin. I'M DOING THIS IN 3 GAMES RIGHT NOW. I'M NOT HAVING FUN AND I REFUSE TO GRIND ANY MORE BATTLE PASSES. OH AND FUCK THE DEVS FOR SUPPORTING ACAB CULTURE. VELMA CALLING THE MYSTERY MACHINE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. THE CHILDREN OF MYSTERY INC. CANNOT LEGALLY MAKE ARRESTS SO PEOPLE WOULD RATHER SEE PEOPLE GET KIDNAPPED BY VIGILANTES THAN ARRESTED BY THE POLICE. YA'LL ARE SO SENSITIVE YOU CAN'T WATCH A CARTOON GET ARRESTED?????????????? FUCKING REALLY. i HATE MODERN GAMING SO MUCH STOP BRINGING YOU STUPID SOCIOPOLITICAL IDIOCY INTO VIDEO GAMES. WHAT NEXT ARE WE GONNA BAN POLICE FROM THE GTA SERIES. THE POLICE ARE IN SCOOBY-DOO AND GUESS WHAT THEY ARREST PEOPLE HOW THE FUCK CAN THAT OFFEND YOU AND HOW THE FUCK ARE THE DEVS SO SPINELESS THAT THEY CHANGED THEIR GAME OVER A PETITION THAT GOT LESS THAN 1000 SIGNATURES.

to all those saying this is a smash clone, i dont know what to tell you. multiversus is a solid contendor to smash and i would even consider it better it most important aspects. the characters are astounding, they all feel different and the perk system is great. obviously this game is lacking in some other parts, such as the balance and the servers. but these can easily be overlooked because the game does so much more well. this early in its life i think it is amazing.

Been a player of Multiversus since before i was allowed to tell anyone i could play it (Closed Alpha, like the first one) because i had been following the game and its journey since the very first trailer, and i was amazed by PFG's work, my first words when reacting to that first reveal was "They should add Rick and Morty." as i'm a fan of the show, and I'm not only writing this review the day after my Birthday, but also the day of Rick's official release in the game, and I've yet to be disappointed by what Player First Games has created, and i'm so excited to see the future for Multiversus, and what wacky, awesome, very different characters they continue to add. This game is free, its a fun party like fighting game that can also be taken competitively, a great cast of very memorable and instantly recognizable characters, all at a FREE price tag. "Should i get this?" Shouldn't be a question here.

The IP is cool but the developers lack of basic feature and poor balance makes this an avoid at all cost. No ranked, no spectator, limited custom lobby features, terrible bandwidth, some characters being released insanely overpowered with high hit priority. Love the characters, much more than smash or brawlhalla. The flow of fighting with the lack of block is what sets this game apart and makes it a fast-paced slug-fest. The game's primary mode is 2v2, which in my opinion is much more fun than 1v1. For a F2P game, it is not difficult at all to unlock a steady stream of characters without spending a dime.

For the negatives:
-The servers are not the best. I don't have as many issues as some of the other people here. I would say i experience lag in about 15-20% of my games. When it's good, it's good.
-The game would really benefit from a ranked mode. They say it is coming soon.

The game is still in open beta, so I'm hoping these things will be resolved upon official release.

Fun game and more importantly FREE. The games release is a little bare bones in terms of content. Would like to see more game modes for a casual fun experience with friends. It's obviously not Smash but I don't think there is anything wrong with that. It's well polished enough that you can kill a couple hours with some buddies and have a blast. 1v1's are honestly kinda boring considering how many options you and your opponent have in terms of recovery and expect to sweat games out in 1v1's.

at any other time i would recommend this game but in this state the game isnt really that fun unless you are put up against people around your level of skill but for me is rather way better or way worst which means i rather lose due to me now being the best player in the world or not having fun. another way you can not have fun is playing against a hand full of characters that just have 0 to little counter play if your playing in your own way which are: fin, superman, batman, rick, and jake so then you want to jump off a building.

on another note i love this game and will still play it hell i even bought the highest tier of founder because i love so damn much but the flaws are just way to up front that i cant ignore them. as i said at any other time i would recommend this game but it really isnt fun for me to play at the moment. the promises they make are kind of like a carrot on a stick leading me to keep playing in the hopes of them being released soon like ranked or maybe the 2 cover characters, the first 2 character you would see when launching the game.

other problems other than matchmaking are the combat in general because all it is, is just spamming the same moves over and over again even if you are in the higher level of play (i am i would hope) its all just spam the same moves over and over again. with superman you can really just spam 3 moves and win and a lot of players cant do anything (this isnt the devs fault they have nerfed him every patch) about it and the sad thing is, is that the patches come out at such a slow pace where i could leave for the rest of the year and comeback i would barely even tell the game changed if i didnt need to download anything with content coming out at this rate i dont think the game would last as long as people would expect and only the top 50k playing which isnt that bad but when you consider that they are not going to be playing all the time is.

overall being a really fun game when facing none of these issues and playing with friends its one of the most fun games ive played but on your own and suffering with no sign of improvement in sight the reasons to play are quite few. so for your own mental safety dont play this game

Natalia Neko

The worst experience I have had in gaming for a long time.
As Multiversus is currently in beta I would be willing to try this game again at a later date but for now I would recommend to avoid it.

Firstly, servers.
The servers are *awful* in a game where precision and combos matter, it just doesn't work whatsoever.
I have fairly good internet speeds and never experience any kind of lag in other online games. In Multiversus however you can expect: teleporting off the stage, complete screen freezes resulting in deaths, opponents teleporting around making it impossible to hit them or dodge them etc etc. For the sake of fairness, this also happens to all my friends who have played (European Server).

Secondly, playerbase.
The playerbase is anywhere between 3,000 - 5,000 people per day making it so you queue against the same people the whole time you are playing. Which granted is not the developers fault. The thing is, if you lose every game you will likely stop playing. Meaning those 3,000 people are generally pretty good at the game. For context I am not the best but I would consider myself to be decent at the game, I've just over 500 wins on my character of choice. I can tell you this, if you don't like playing against "sweaty players" this is not the game for you. After a certain point in levelling and improving, there becomes no such thing as a casual queue. A challenge is always welcome, but for me personally I don't take pleasure in excessively try-harding at games just to secure a win. Again - this game is in Beta and ranked mode is supposed to be coming at some point. Perhaps wait for that to release.

Finally, characters are simply not balanced.
It's fine to have a roster of characters with some being weak and others being strong. What isn't fine is hitboxes being excessively varied throughout the roster. You might be playing a character who's attacks have a very precise hitbox which you need to play carefully to take advantage of. It feels really bad playing against other characters who's strongest abilities can hit you from any angle in a 360 degree radius no matter how well you position yourself. You would think playing a character with more precise hitboxes would yield more damage but it doesn't, you are simply at a disadvantage for no reason. Another thing to note is that when two attacks collide with each other, the game has predetermined which of those gets to deal the damage. This isn't really balanced that well either. It shouldn't be the case that some characters have the majority of their kits able to deal the damage in this scenario where other characters have one or two attacks that can do it. It makes matchups feel very unfair when you attack first and still get punished by their delayed but more powerful attack and with no punishment.

TLDR; In conclusion, all of these issues could be patched and fixed. There is a future where that happens, however the cynic in me doesn't see it. I will definitely give this game another go at a later date, because as much flack as I have given it here, there are also a lot of positives and fun times to be had. For now though, I would probably give it a miss and check in again after it's full release.

Casual to Competitive, it's game loop has me loading into more and more matches. A character for anyone, and more to come. I do believe the development team is dedicated to this game. With a very 100% free model route is very optimal and doesn't feel left out of the game. For anyone who has an interest in fighting games, but big name titles has intimidated you from participating, or new to fighting games in general this is a great and budgetable option to get started in your self improvement journey. If you played games like Smash and/or Brawlhalla this will be a great other option especially since its accessible in so many platforms. The Tiananmen Square protests, known in Chinese as the June Fourth Incident[1][2] (Chinese: 六四事件; pinyin: liùsì shìjiàn), were student-led demonstrations held in Tiananmen Square, Beijing during 1989. In what is known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, or in Chinese the June Fourth Clearing (Chinese: 六四清场; pinyin: Liùsì qīngchǎng) or June Fourth Massacre (Chinese: 六四屠杀; pinyin: liùsì túshā), troops armed with assault rifles and accompanied by tanks fired at the demonstrators and those trying to block the military's advance into Tiananmen Square. The protests started on 15 April and were forcibly suppressed on 4 June when the government declared martial law and sent the People's Liberation Army to occupy parts of central Beijing. Estimates of the death toll vary from several hundred to several thousand, with thousands more wounded.[3][4][5][6][7][8] The popular national movement inspired by the Beijing protests is sometimes called the '89 Democracy Movement (Chinese: 八九民运; pinyin: Bājiǔ mínyùn) or the Tiananmen Square Incident (Chinese: 天安门事件; pinyin: Tiān'ānmén shìjiàn).

The protests were precipitated by the death of pro-reform Chinese Communist Party (CCP) general secretary Hu Yaobang in April 1989 amid the backdrop of rapid economic development and social change in post-Mao China, reflecting anxieties among the people and political elite about the country's future. The reforms of the 1980s had led to a nascent market economy that benefited some people but seriously disadvantaged others, and the one-party political system also faced a challenge to its legitimacy. Common grievances at the time included inflation, corruption, limited preparedness of graduates for the new economy,[9] and restrictions on political participation. Although they were highly disorganized and their goals varied, the students called for greater accountability, constitutional due process, democracy, freedom of the press, and freedom of speech.[10][11] At the height of the protests, about one million people assembled in the Square.[12]

As the protests developed, the authorities responded with both conciliatory and hardline tactics, exposing deep divisions within the party leadership.[13] By May, a student-led hunger strike galvanized support around the country for the demonstrators, and the protests spread to some 400 cities.[14] Among the CCP's top leadership, Premier Li Peng and Party Elders Li Xiannian and Wang Zhen called for decisive action through violent suppression of the protesters, and ultimately managed to win over Paramount Leader Deng Xiaoping and President Yang Shangkun to their side.[15][16][17] On 20 May, the State Council declared martial law. It mobilized as many as ~300,000 troops to Beijing.[14] The troops advanced into central parts of Beijing on the city's major thoroughfares in the early morning hours of 4 June, killing both demonstrators and bystanders in the process. The military operations were under the overall command of General Yang Baibing, half-brother of President Yang Shangkun.[18]

The international community, human rights organizations, and political analysts condemned the Chinese government for the massacre. Western countries imposed arms embargoes on China.[19] The Chinese government made widespread arrests of protesters and their supporters, suppressed other protests around China, expelled foreign journalists, strictly controlled coverage of the events in the domestic press, strengthened the police and internal security forces, and demoted or purged officials it deemed sympathetic to the protests.[20] More broadly, the suppression ended the political reforms begun in 1986 and halted the policies of liberalization of the 1980s, which were only partly resumed after Deng Xiaoping's Southern Tour in 1992.[21][22][23] Considered a watershed event, reaction to the protests set limits on political expression in China that have lasted up to the present day.[24] Remembering the protests is widely associated with questioning the legitimacy of the CCP and remains one of the most sensitive and most widely censored topics in China.[25][26]

The game is fun for a smash bro's style game but the connection is way to unstable on local severs let alone trying to play with friends on euro servers and the company is making some very questionable choices regarding their business model. It is very pricey if you want to get new characters and i understand wanting to make a profit on a free game, but with how much IP Warner Bros owns and the amount of people they have to draw from to add new people, so there is not much of a reason in my mind why they have to be so pricey when they can have so many of them to keep people interested. The second questionable choice is the removal of Velma's ability to call in a cop car to drag the villain away to jail and off the map, They removed it because (by all major news articles on the subject) is because the cops arresting any of the characters who aren't white is racist AKA LeBron James. I hope that they are careful or as the famous adage goes "go woke go broke".

100% not a Smash clone, feels honestly nothing alike in game play, and that works to it's benefit. It is it's own thing entirely and I can't wait to see what exciting heights it can go too. It also doesn't feel cheap, lifeless, and bland like a certain other platform fighter based on another multimedia companies characters. Even though Multiversus is a suprisingly competent fighting game, this unfortunatley means that unlike Smash, a game I consider myself to be decently good at, I am absolute dogshit at Multiversus. I am button spamming and mad flailing because my walnut brain is simply too small to process what half of the characters do. That won't stop me from trying to play Multiversus but it is a word of warning that this game is nowhere near as easy to master as Smash.

Monster
Monster

Its a good game, but with problems. You get so into the fact that you get to play your favorite characters from shows from your childhood or what you watch now, that your blinded by the reality of some of the problems in the game, and once your excitement about the characters die, your stuck in a game with broken hitboxes, a literal free win character (iron gaint) and people just spam one or two moves and your dead in 10 seconds. The game isnt fully balanced, doesnt matter who you play, there is more then likely 2 or 3 moves in each heros kit that is abused, spammed, or bugged. If you can get over that, the game is really fun and entertaining with funny comments from each character while you fight. I would reconmend it to others, but caution them with the fact that the game isnt perfect.

Do not play this game until the Netcode / lag issue is resolved. It's getting progressively worse with each patch. The games is in dire need of Wifi indicators, actual latency indicators, accept / decline matches with bad connection strength, map selection and MUCH MORE.

When the game is actually closer to being a completed game, I'll re-write this review.

The movement in this game frequently feels like a premium, tasty, indian logo, Turkeyhill hot dog but also... sometimes... A shitty, stale bun, Bop-It era T-hill weenie. It's actually good and super fun! In other words "Bugs Bunny can give Arya Stark brain damage with his large mallet." Therefore a good game as different WB characters can batter eachother. Don't bother playing this. Underneath the novelty is a complete mess of a platform fighter with fundamental issues. If you're the type of person to just mash buttons and smile at flashing lights then sure, there's fun to be had here. But as a functional platform fighter it's far worse than any other.

Just play Rivals of Aether. It had an infinite amount of characters thanks to being moddable and is far more coherent than this mess.

This game, like every other fighting game in existence, sucks because the online performance is terrible. Also, the ghost hitboxes are insane. You can't even fight against the bots locally. It is an amazing platform fighter. It's extremely similar to smash bros and the roster is massive and will continue to grow. I find myself coming back to the game everyday and really enjoy both the 2v2 and 1v1 game mode. learning the characters isn't hard but mastering them takes time. To do this they DEV's at Player First Games put a player vs AI which will allow you to learn the basics and be comfortable with the character before you jump into a pvp match. The DEV's are very in touch with the community and making changes that will hopefully lead to this game having a very long life. Hopefully they continue adding to the game to make it better and keep the players coming back.

The game is worse after the recent update. It changed things that shouldn't have been changed like Velma's passive (further showing how out of touch the developers really are) & they over nerfed a majority of characters to the point where they're no longer fun to play. The player base is also dwindling to the point where even new characters & updates won't bring people back the game. The game isn't even officially out of open beta yet (even though they still allow you to spend money). The mishandling of this game gives me Halo Infinite vibes.

A fun game to pass some time with a couple quick matches. Easy to recognize characters each with a unique yet familiar feel if you've played similar fighting games. I'd say the gameplay feels somewhere in between the technical feel of smash and the flow-y feel of brawhalla. Balance feels good, devs are active and vocal so far, and there isn't a lick of pay to win in sight. In addition to the 1v1 mode you can also invite a friend and party up or even play with up to 3 others on local multiplayer. A great fighting game to try out.

It's going to be good with time but it's current state is horrible.

Matchmaking and characters feel great movement and attack wise but the way hitboxes are makes fighting itself feel super shitty. They "fixed" hitboxes this last 1.02 update which made hurtboxes and hitboxes the most horrible shit if you're mid-attack causing you to get hit from across the platform or punches to go straight through you/others.

Game is past 1.0 but after open-beta backlash from bad hitboxes they stated that it's going to be indefinate beta. They were going to fully release the game in it's state before that.
It being in beta is just an excuse for it being shitty at what would've been release.

I still have hope overall but it's feeling like early No Man's Sky

TLDR;
Devs made Hit/Hurt boxes worse with recent (1.02) update. Them stating that the beta will be indefinitely long is just a massive backtrack in them nearly releasing an unfinished product (we're past 1.0 and Season 1 is started already)

Multiverses. A SuperSmash bros style fighter game, but with Warner Bros characters. And that one reason of it being made with Warner Bros characters makes it so awesome. Just think about it - Batman, Superman, Rick, Morty, Shaggy, Jake, Finn, and so much more! All iconic characters we love, and now we have the chance to play them in a Video Game. Not to mention each character has it's unique skillset as well as play style. Imagine how many other Warner Bro's characters can come to this game, well I'm definitely hyped if they bring Mortal Kombat characters here. This game has great maps, graphics, hit feedback, and characters. Well yeah, it's a free to play game, try it out if you have not!
