Played through on steamdeck. Can't say why I picked Lucky's tale. Maybe for light hearted-ness. Kind of close to a Mario game. There is fun to be had.

Incredibly fun and cute game. All of the mechanics and movement felt nicely polished, and the levels have their unique charms. Loved playing through the game!

This game is so much fun that I wished it would never finish.
Couldn't let go and had to get all achievements. It is fun, calming, charming, and truly enjoyable.
It is a unique experience, yet I feel like I went back to the early days of enjoying Mario 64 and Crash Bandicoot.
We need more games like this... A sequel would be nice!

It's a cute platformer you're going to want to pick up if you're into the genre.

There are some annoying features in the game still, but it's a big QoL upgrade from Super Lucky's Tale. The story makes much more sense and a lot of the levels are just better.

Found out about this game a couple years ago on Game Pass and was bored so I gave it a shot. Its a really cute and fun platformer. There's enough incentive to get all the pages in each level, and the mix of 2D and 3D stages and other minigames keeps the game going really well. Its not too hard and not overly easy. This game doesnt get enough credit. If you like 2D/3D platformers by all means check this game out.

This game is perfect for younger audiences, as well as people like me who are just really into 3D platformers. All achievements in 8 hours, really fun 100%ing experience. Not necessarily worth it if you already have the original though. I really hope that they make a new one eventually, because the world could really use more high budget and quality 3D platformers.

Charming, Delightful, And Great.

Just the right amount of challenge to 100% on your first run through. Had to replay one of the autorunning levels and had to use a guide twice.

Other than that, this is better than A Hat in Time.

A solid, relaxing 3d platformer that for some reason reminded me of Super Mario World 3D? It's a great game either way!

Great action platformer; bright, fun, positive. Great movement mechanics.

positives +, neutrals *, negatives -

+ Great, cute, charming characters
+ Colorful, positive, fun worlds and setting
+ Very good jumping mechanics
+ Good content, including amount of it
+ Varying worlds and stories
+ Game includes the predecessor that was reimagined/remastered and two free DLCs
+ Good primary + optional secondary completion objectives split
* Easy to progress
* Action/Combat has multiple actions, but is overall pretty simple (and apart form bosses easy)
* A lot of coins to guide you; given that they are everywhere always, can be a bit much though
* The last boss was a challenge to me, after pretty much the rest of the game having been easy or very easy
- Cutscenes and guide-cutscenes can not be skipped

Playtime:
Main story playthrough with skipped levels ~4h.
Full playthrough/all levels 8-9 hours.
100% 11-12h.

My general recommendation to anyone enjoying platformers, 3D action platformers, cuteness or colorfulness.

This is a very short, fun, and easy game. Controls are responsive and tight, hit detection is much better than Super Lucky's Tale. This is a very good game for people new to games and/or 3D platformers.

It's a nice indie platformer, it is quite an easy game but it is a charming, cute game that I enjoyed my time with. The loading screens are a bit in the way but not something to ruin my gameplay. I do wish there was a "restart level" option but it's fine with how it is, as the loading times are typically short. Easy game; enjoyable game is what I'd say as a short summary. If you want the game, you can go ahead, it's unique.

An incredibly charming, Mario-like Jump 'n Run with clean graphics, tight controls, very catchy music (the music is REALLY catchy, alright) and a carefree attitude carried out by the overall happy-go-lucky theme of the game. New Super Lucky's Tale (NSLT) is an enhanced version of Super Lucky's Tale (SLT), including its DLCs, which I played on the Xbox One as part of the Gamepass. Contrary to my normal gaming schedule, I 100%-ed it back then, because I just had a ton of fun with it.

While I haven't played NSLT all too much yet, judging by what I've seen so far, Playful took care of the biggest weaknesses of SLT. The camera is free look now and can be tilted and rotated to the hearts desire, and the levels have undergone an overhaul in many regards. It's the same game at heart, but still feels fresh due to the many big and small changes - lot of details added and tweaked and mechanics adjusted to keep the game fresh.

It's a really nice platformer that doesn't try to do anything extraordinary. But the things it does are more than solid and varied enough to carry through without a hint of boredom arising. The difficulty is very manageable in the main game, though the optional DLC levels turn it up two notches without going completely overboard either - they are however meant for advanced players.

I'm absolutely looking forward to a Super Lucky's Tale 2 now. (N)SLT is a game that's able to bring a smile to the face, and I'd love to see the adventures of the adorable fox Lucky continue.

A remake of the original game that vastly improves everything about it. Surprised it was coming out for PC as they initially didn't announce a release. If you love platformers than you'll like this game.

I'm glad more 3D platformers are making their way to PC.

I played this version of NSLT on the Switch and it was a ton of fun. It looks so smooth here on PC with an unlocked framerate.

If you're a fan of the recent Spyro, Crash and Spongebob releases, Lucky's Tale is definitely highly recommended.

PROS: Tight, clean controls - even further improved from the original release, from what I read - and a classic plaftormer's fun gameplay loop based on collectibles, a bit of puzzle solving, and the odd minigame here and there; classic "mascot" platformer, bright and colorful, similar to the new Spyro and Crash remakes that have rekindled the interest for this genre. Music is really good, graphics and character designs are incredibly well realized, story ties the stages together fairly well along with some awesome hand-drawn cutscenes, and gives the exploration a background purpose.

CONS: Apart from being extremely easy, this game is built specifically with kids in mind. Its story, content and pacing is extremely childish, and unlike the Spyro and Crash remakes that are a revamp on old classics which were good for teens at the time, this is actually a fairly recent title that strives too much to bring back a type of 90's cheesy, childish vibe for kids (or rather, what adults at the time assumed would cater to kids) that was pretty much outdated the moment it was developed. It's almost, if not even more, as corny as Bubsy 3D.
Lucky will try to break the fourth wall by looking into the camera as often as it's given the chance (the game design is built around this by purposefully starting each level with the character facing the screen);
Every action, collectible pick up, enemy hit, world entering etc. is crammed with as many silly character grunts sounds as possible; the pages pick up animation and stage completion screen, Lucky's design with his short blue tablecloth cape and goofy oversized shoes, flailing in place but moving really slowly... so on and so forth.
There are games that genuinely nail the cutesy look and experience by letting it be an organic and natural part of the design and writing of the characters and the world built around them - like A Hat in Time, just to give an example. This one, on the contrary, forces the "cute" down your throat by screaming "LOOK AT ME" every instant, a cautionary reminder that these exasperated style choices became extinct pretty much almost instantly in the foreground industry, or survived long enough to become more akin to a fetish.

If you genuinely like that "cheesy 90's" cereal-box-game kids galore, or you aren't too bothered by it and are looking for a tight (albeit extremely easy) nostalgic toon platformer, this is a game I would greatly recommend - but I personally could not bring myself to play any further than the first few levels.

Decent, competent, somewhat simple, cute, charming 3D platformer with most levels being linear but some having exploration to collect mission objective stuff. From the start to the credits, the game isn't especially challenging but the postgame offers far more of a challenge. In-game currency exists only for the 300-coin challenge every level has as well as for buying optional costumes if you're into that.

Honestly, the fourth world felt oddly a lot "better" than almost every other world but then again it used to be DLC for the older version which would explain a lot.

armadylo

I can't recommend a game enough for those looking for something new in the same vein as classic 3D platformers from the N64/PS1 era. This is it! Although the game is targeted to a younger audience, there's a lot that may keep you hooked no matter what the age: a fun and diverse selection of levels (3D, 2.5D side-scrolling, "runner" style levels, and a selection of varying bonus levels, just to name a few) and locations, cute characters, and whimsical and diverse soundtrack, just to begin with. Not to mention the Foxington hub world, designed for some pretty decently challenging stages!

I should also mention that New Super Lucky's Tale ("NSLT") is not just a re-hash of Super Lucky's Tale ("SLT")... Well, it sort of is, but I like to think of it as a "re-imagining" of sorts. The new sliding ability combined with new animations, refined hub worlds, and new stages make the original SLT very difficult to come back to. The other big change that you can "feel out" when playing the game is the actual *flow* of the game. It's much more streamlined: using "pages per world" for unlocking new boss arenas in NSLT works a lot better than using "clovers per the entire game (a la "Super Mario 64"). This is something that you're going to have to judge for yourself, but after playing so many versions of this I can assure you that NSLT does it right.

To play devil's advocate, I can agree that the game *could* be a bit longer, just because I'd love to see more of Lucky and this entire universe. Anyway, without a question this is one of my favorite recent 3D platformers, and I genuinely don't feel ashamed to say it's a 10/10 from me. :)

WHOA! That was announced out of nowhere. This is the version on the switch where it has improved and new level designs which is much better than in "super." In fact you can move the camera in 360 degrees, have a slide move onto hard services, and all the content that was only payed in the DLCs.
The kitty litters has much personality and there is a new backstory in this game. Where I didn't like the way for the story to go in a dark tone where the entire game is a happy light tone. but what do i know?

Anyways this is the superior version of super lucky tale. you can pick this one up but you can get a better deal if you pay the game on steam where you can get the original, the two DLCs (for free if you already own the original game) and the new game.
You also get a discount for the package if you already got the game. (Unfortinetly i don't know if it affect the discounts since I bought the original for a discount but the discount for that is too low)

Anyways best way to play the game. Its my 8/10.

Reminds me of N64-era mascot 3D platformers. The game is a little on the short side and fairly easy to play, but the Guardian Trials provide a surprising endgame challenge. Good for all ages.

Nice upgrade, I think from what I have played so far this is a good buy. My only dislike is there was no discount for the original super lucky's tale I already owned and also no extra copy either. I think at least one of my friends would have loved to give it a try, you might have also gotten another sale for "New Super Lucky's tale" but whatever missed extra marketing I guess.

This game was an absolute gem. It is my favorite genre (3D Platforming/Collectathon) and has a really smooth control scheme alongside really cute characters and beautiful levels (the music is great too). It's a bit on the "easy" side due to how smoothly the controls operate, but I don't think that is a bad thing. It's a fun relatively stress-free game (aside from a few levels anyway...)

That said, it is not a really long game, I beat all the levels (collecting all the checkbox items in each one) including the DLC stages in just under 12 hours. There is a bit more I can do, but it's all basically just going back and mining coins to unlock the few remaining uniform pieces I haven't already gotten.

If you are a fan of games like Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Sly Cooper, etc. then this is definitely a game you should pick up and play.

A splendid Update to Super Lucky's Tale [SLT]; New Super Lucky's Tale [NSLT] adds a Ton of Improvement and Fixes to the Original 2017 Release.

I was able to 100% Everything Including All Achievements.

Visuals - 4/5
----------

While largely Unchanged from SLT, NSLT adds far more Cutscenes with each Including far more Expression and Liveliness to the Game. These really Help bring more Flavour to the Characters, Story and Presentation.
Lucky now Runs on Two Legs compared to All Fours In SLT. This really Helps Fit Him Into the Worlds around Him. His Attacks are Swift and much more Responsive. Several Levels have been adjusted to Include more Colourful Lighting and Warmer/Cooler Tones depending on the Setting. Almost All Cutscenes are done In-Engine but the Prologue and Epilogue change the Painted Style from SLT to a far more Expressive yet less Detailed Cartoon/Comic Style.

Controls - 5/5
-----------

A Massive Improvement from SLT, Lucky Is more Responsive than ever. His Attacks are Swift and have far better Hit Detection, Making Combat much more Enjoyable and less Chance of Lucky being Suckerpunched from a Random Projectile or Enemy. His Movement Is far less Floaty than In SLT too; Giving the Player much more Control.

Camera Controls are another much needed Improvement with a Full 3D Camera compared to SLT's 45 Degree Tilting Camera. This can really Help give Broader Perspective on each World that Lucky can Travel to.

Again, Lucky's Double Jump doesn't gain much Height but He Is able to Clamber onto Surfaces far more Easily; Reducing the Number of awkward Jumps and Chances of Falling to Death.

It Is also now Impossible to Die In Hub Worlds; Thereby Inhibiting the Loss of Player Lives while Exploring.

Sound - 5/5
---------

Sound Quality is largely Unchanged; However, The Soggy Boggy Boy's Song has Changed to a far more Lively Track compared to the Slower Song from SLT. Lady's Meowmalade's Boss Track Is still as Pumping as before and the Overall Sound Design and Soundtrack Is the Same as SLT.

Gameplay - 5/5
-------------

Lucky's Tailswipe has Increased to a 3-Hit Combo from the Simple Swipe from SLT. Combat Is far more Responsive and Pleasing to Perform; Especially with the better Hit Detection.

While most Levels are Unchanged, The Spookington Hub has been completely Redesigned to Hauntingham and the Level for the Soggy Boggy Boys In Veggie Village has been Expanded and takes place at Night, Giving It a larger Platforming Aspect.

Enemies Types are the Same; However, Some Bosses have seen Upgrades. Some almost Unnoticeable and Others far more Improved over Their SLT Counterparts.

The New 3D Camera also Helps the Player In Navigating the Large Levels and prevent any Accidental Deaths from Falling.

The DLC from SLT has been Flawlessly Implemented Into NSLT; Fitting the Narrative much more Smoothly.

Overall - 19/20
----------

As a Fan of the Original SLT, I was Quick to Grab NSLT at Its Initial Sale Price and was rather Impressed with the Amount of Tuning that Plaful Corp. had made to the Game. 3D Platforming Fans that are New to Lucky's Adventure will be sure to Enjoy the Colourful and Free-Spirited Journey that Lucky takes on His Quest to Recover the Pages for the Book of Ages. Fans Familiar with the Series may want to Consider Waiting for a Sale but will be Pleasantly Surprised with what Is In Store. The Ending will also be a Fun Surprise!

Hope We will get to Continue Our Adventures with Lucky In a Sequel!

Scrimblo

Despite a bit of vagueness on if it's a sequel or an enhanced port, this is actually a complete rework of the original Super Lucky's Tale.

All levels have been remade from the ground up and the moveset as well as camera have been revamped while also integrated the previous game's DLCs into the campaign's story naturally, thus it's both familiar and new at the same time, preserving everything that made the original so fun and still feeling fresh enough to warrant playing it whether you're a returning or a new player.

Regardless, if you like platformers more on the collectathon heavy side like Spyro, Crash, Donkey Kong and don't mind the aspect of pure fun factor over actual challenge, New Super Lucky's Tale is definitely worth buying. The only downside is that it's a little short, and honestly unless you're desperate for more of this kind of gameplay formula you'd best wait for a sale

Differences to "Super Lucky's Tale"

+ Improved graphics
+ Improved story
+ Better camera
+ More costumes
+ Altered levels
+ More interesting NPC's

Coming from playing "Super Lucky's Tale" this one does add some nice changes but I wouldn't say enough to justify it being sold as a different game.

The game sports more artwork for cutscenes/story reasons and even a new ending which I hope will not just be forgotten as it can lead to an interesting sequel.

Hub worlds have been changed and sadly no longer get stuff added to them to make them feel more complete, just an NPC from the world you just completed making it feel less satisfying. The statue in each world is also gone, would of been nice to have kept them in at least.

Some levels have been completely made different and some even shorter making the game a lot easier which is ok but a bit disappointing as the original game was the nice amount of difficulty spike. Though some level changes now make the levels feel better and also make more sense to the world they are in.

The bosses are still the same part from the final boss and you actually face Lady Meowmalade due to the DLC being included in this bundle by default.

Costumes are now cheaper which I like as grinding in the last game was too boring. You even have costumes based off the bosses which was needed and I highly enjoy using and mixing up.

Lastly, the camera is easier to control and move making some jumps and collectable hunting easier.

p.s - Mail Golem is adorable please keep him

A true love letter to the classic 3D platformers, the art direction is amazing, soundtrack is impressive and the gameplay is well-paced.
If you want to play one game from the franchise, I would highly recommend to play this one.
If I would need to point out at a bad point, I do believe the only bad thing is that there are some characters that you think they will have more importance in the story but in the end they are just there and nothing else.
Overall an amazing game, I really hope they continue with the franchise.

Really cute and fun platformer collect-a-thon with tight and responsive controls, wonderful art direction, charming and crazy cast of characters, an adorable protagonist and an awesome soundtrack. It's got a lot of variety and fun gimmicks, plenty of collectibles and overall feels very polished and comfortable to play.

The only real downside is that it's lacking a bit in the challenge department. The Guardian Trials steps things up a bit, but it would've been nice with some harder optional challenges, or a hard mode similar to Death Wish in A Hat in Time. That said, it's a great choice for younger kids or people who just want a fun and relaxing experience.

This game definitely deserves more popularity, and I'd love to see a sequel some day. If you're into oldschool platformers like Spyro, Crash and Mario, don't sleep on this one. Heartily recommended!

Okay, so let's get to the point: If you are in the fence about buying this, wondering what the difference is between "New Super Lucky's Tale" and the older "Super Lucky's Tale", then it's pretty simple; this game 'NSLT' is a full remake. And more than just that, really. Here are the differences:

- All levels are completely different. They retain the essence of the old version, but have been remade and redesigned from
the ground up.
- Some new levels have been added.
- Camera is no longer fixed. It's now 100% free and you can rotate it in every axis.
- The progression dynamic has been tweaked to be more streamlined.
- Completely new animations and in-engine cutscenes.
- Revamped story. It now makes more sense.
- Lucky runs on two limbs now instead of four. I personally loved the classic walking animation as it looked more fluid and
graceful. Lucky now looks like Mario when walking, running. A bit stiff in my opinion.
- Lucky now has new moves, like sliding and a three-hit melee tail combo.
- Overall control responsiveness has been improved. The old game was good in this aspect, but this one is an absolute
pleasure to play.
- Better hitbox detection.
- World feels a lot more interactive now.
- Better balancing for acquiring in-game collectibles.
- New costumes.
- Polished graphics.
- Improved soundtrack.
- DLC has been integrated into the story.

The only negative I find is that if you purchased the classic game (like me), you will have to buy this game separately and it is another $40 dollars. Is it worth it? That's subjective. I love this kind of games and I don't mind spending the extra money. Can you justify buying this if you already have the classic game? Absolutely 100%.

I just recently installed the classic game and played it after having it sitting in my library for more than a year. I intermediately bought this game after when I found out about it and playing it ATM. I had a bit of buyer's remorse at first, but after playing through the first two world hubs, I've realized this is a completely different game. I don't feel like I'm playing just a polished version of the old one.

Bit of an odd situation with this game, as both were released with a two year difference. But I totally understand what the devs did and why. The original game was good, but they were given the chance to improve upon that and get the game closer to their original view. They definitely accomplished that.

As I mentioned in my other review: If you're a fan of oldschool 3D platformers, this is one little gem you must have in your collection. Both of them, in my humble opinion.

So much fun! I was craving a good 3d platformer and this game was perfect. Lucky's moveset is fluid and satisfying, there's plenty of diversity and the platforming itself is enjoyable without being excessively difficult. Probably one of my favorite games of all time to be honest, it's just so charming.

CrimSonVENOM
CrimSonVENOM

Pretty damn easy tbh and kinda short, but still hella fun, and hella cute! Lucky is an extremely loveable character without a doubt but so are all the other characters. A generic platformer but done right! And thats an A+ in my book. Lucky controls pretty well and everything bout the controls is sweet and cute. Only complaint is the unskippable cutscenes during every stage which made achievement grinding a tad frustrating (but given how easy it is it prolly wont take that much time but oh well). Overall must play, extremely cute characters and animations. Lastly it did right what Yooka Laylee didn't, a proper platformer, proper hub worlds, and overall tho small, an extremely enjoyable experience.

It ain't every day that you get to see an overhaul of a game being sold as a new release (especially one that bundles the previous version of itself as mandatory), and it also ain't every day that that overhauled release ends up being worth it.

New Super Lucky's Tale (with the emphasis on "New") addresses pretty much every shortcoming its original version released with. The game is optimized now, and no longer hitches every odd minute. The worlds and antagonists have had a lot of work put into them to give them much-needed personality and liveliness. A lot of filler content is cut, and the remaining levels are refined to make full use of the newly-added free camera control. The cosmetics have had their prices rebalanced to be more reasonable and fun to acquire, and the overal story feels a lot more cohesive with DLC in it as an integral part, rather than an afterthought.

Overall, the whole experience is way more enjoyable now, even if you have already played through the older version of the game. The game went from passable to recommendable, albeit still very simplistic and uninventive. But sometimes you don't want to be dazzled by new ideas. Sometimes all you want is a lightweight, easy to jump-in, polished platformer, and NSLT fits that like a glove.

EstebanRioz
EstebanRioz

This is the best 3D platformer for PC that I've played.
My other experience is Yooka-Layle, Hat in time, the second lego batman and Spyro Reignited Trilogy. From those games the only one I really like is Spyro, and i feel that NSLT really deserves the position next to it.

NSLT is a short 3D platformer, full of charm. Though it's a little easy (aimed more at children) it's still very fun, because it controls flawlesly.
Besides being mostly a 3D platformer it has a mix of other types of levels, like 2d platformer, runners and puzzles.

It's a shame that has almost no reviews and I havenยดt heard that It even existed until months after realease, its definitely a hiden gem.
I hope I get to see more from this series

Woargh

I played the original version a long time ago and enjoyed it so much, that I just had to buy this one and play it again.
After playing this new version, I launched the original one to see the difference and wow, its a big one! In the new version, the graphics are smooth and the controls are tight!
There are a few misses in my opinion. In Wigglemania the hitboxes are a bit messed up. When an enemy hits you, most of the time it won't register which of course is at your benefit, but its such a shame. What's even worse to me is the fact that in the original version, Lucky ran on all four and I thought it was so cute and playful. Now he's running oddly on two legs and it just looks wrong somehow. Feels like the animation is too fast for Lucky's pace. However, they've also changed the burrow animation and this one is for the better! I love how Lucky's tail pops out of the ground, it looks so cute. Burrowing was one of my favorite features in the original version and its even better in this one.
The game has been made easier it seems, but it was never a hard game, so I don't think that matters. Maybe its just because the controls are suddenly on point, but its also super easy to get 100% achievements in this one.
Of course the biggest change must be the fact that you are now able to control the camera angle and it makes a huge difference to the overall gameplay.

Overall I would highly recommened this game to anyone who enjoys a casual game with a high cute factor. Huntingham alone is reason enough to play this game - Oh, how I wish Huntingham had been bigger!

Great modern take on the classic 3D platformer genre. However this game is not for gamers who want a good challenge which is typical of the genre. But those who enjoyed Spyro Reignited Trilogy or Yooka-Laylee and want an easier game this is a good choice. A good mix of 2d and 3d platforming and an interesting mix of puzzles as well. The game might not be challenging this game is still enjoyable and fun.

A really great platformer, nice level, a simple story but enough for me, charming characters. A pleasure for all ages.

Doodling Hitman
Doodling Hitman

I see I've played for 8.3 hours? I've 100% each level apart from the hotdogs in the final worlds because i couldn't be arsed to unlock just a costume i wouldn't wear.

now then. this game is a decent 3D platformer. The story isn't all that exciting and the characters are nothing memorable or fun, to me. but the overall gameplay and worlds were not bad. luckily this game did not choose to throw in a ton of collectibles. just simple stuff really. and all very easy to obtain. that is a main issue i've had though. not a single level was challenging. i get this might just be for kids, but even mario has some tougher levels sometimes and mario in itself is already way too easy. so that tells how easy this game is.

the worlds and characters are okay. it just doesn't feel like the worlds are actually lived in. i want to see that more in these 3D platformers, but levels are always scattered around with doors you need to enter. colors feel extremely washed out and the graphics just aren't as tidy as it could be i think.

so yeah, i did enjoy going through it and finding all the secrets, but i expected a bit more of a challenge.. a newborn baby could probably finish this game.

if i were to rate it... it'd probably be a 6/10.

pros:
- great control of character
- interesting worlds, albeit a bit bland looking due to washed out colors and slightly less graphic quality
- funny costumes you can purchase (reason to actually collect money other than just for a page)
- mix up with 2D levels added in. not my favorite kind, but a welcome here and there for others

cons:
- extremely easy levels with nothing to really challenge you
- invisible barriers blocking you from exploring (i've died more from falling due to not being able to land on something than dying to something legit). i hate it when the game stops you from going somewhere you aren't quite intended to go. there are even parts that have no collision, so i fell right through the object i tried to land on
- characters are bland and the dialogue is often a bore to sit through. characters also don't feel like they belong in the worlds, or the worlds just don't feel like a place they'd actually be in
- washed out colors making the worlds look bland
- inside ball mini-levels are annoying (honestly, who thought that was a fun concept?)

hmm.. overall it is decent. nothing special though. i only recommend this if you're into 3D platformers and have absolutely nothing else to play.

A very good addition to your 3d platformer library. A little bit generic presentation wise (kinda looks like one of those fake games you see in a sit-com or something). But overall a very high quality platformer that has dna from Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country. I do wish that they focused on full 3D level design for every level. But as is, a very good platformer thats worth getting.

Surprisingly more fun than I expected for being a simple and cute childrens platformer. Reminded me of Spyro a lot. I used to play Spyro 2, my favorite platformer, and put at least a hundred hours into it to 100% it for the fireball upgrade when I was only like 13. Played the remaster, got the same in 10-15 hours max. My point here is if you're an adult with gaming experience or especially people who do lots of platformers then New Super Lucky's Tale won't take you long to 100% either. I'm 6-7 hours in and 100%ed everything besides the post game so far. Still, I recommend it. The game is full of charm and you can tell the developers put a lot of love and effort into it.

Pros
-Cute and colorful graphics
-Responsive controls
-Can dress up the fox
-Collectibles unlock outfits making them worth to collect because see reason above.
-Variety of ways the levels are mixed up later on to keep things interesting
-Level design is usually fun
-Hilarious cat stereotypes

Cons
-The only skill/power you get is digging and nothing else.
-Lack of other characters besides random NPCs you prolly forget about from world to world.

Rating: 8/10

Some more opinions:
-I would have loved to see Lyra and Lucas, your older sister and brother, at least more present in the story and/or as supportive characters. Your family basically becomes non-existent after the intro. I know it's "Lucky's Tale" but still just would have been nice. Maybe in the sequel if one is made.
-Side levels where you play as other characters would have been interesting, too. Extra interesting if it's your family or other Guardians you play as. I would love to see this if they ever make a sequel.
-Having power ups and more skills to explore the world with or introduce new mechanics would have been really fun, too!
-Longer story would have been nice too, but it's a simple kids game so not a big deal.
-Some place to relax or play mini games would be welcome too. I don't mean the carnival level where you complete mini games, as there's enemies and such but something like that only expanded on.
-Thanks for the cute game

I do recommend this game, but BE FOREWARNED: it is VERY short! Wait for it to go on sale. Otherwise it plays like a fun title reminiscent of the N64/ Playstation 1 era. Very cute, and a great title for both young gamers and older players looking for something with a relaxing difficulty but still fun to play.

Cute and simple. I will save any complex analysis because the pictures speaking for itself. You get around 10-15 hours(all achievments) of gameplay for 28 bucks or less if you wait for discounts. Game sure makes fun, but feels short. I would like to see more of those colorful games. If possible with much more content.

Of course it's ideal for kids, but adults will have fun with this game too. Maybe get your gamepad and let your inner kid have some fun with this sweet hero. You won't regret it.

This game is great and severely underrated. I first played this on gamepass and made it through the game in its entirety. Here we are almost a year later and I decided to purchase the game to own on steam. Being my second playthrough things went a lot faster than the first, and I have 100% everything Including Steam Achievements. Although it is shorter than many other 3D Platformers, this is great for people of all ages. It is not to challenging (except for some of the puzzles) and has a good storyline. I hope for a sequel soon as the big spill after beating Foxington left my mouth ajar. Great game coming from a great company that is managing to hold through this pandemic. gj guys.

Elvick

It certainly has better controls than Super. I still miss the running on all fours running animations though, it just added so much more personalilty that this game now lacks. It's still cute, but not as cute as it was. And while it added some QoL improvements it lacks some other obvious ones that I don't see how they missed when 'remaking' [more or less] this version. Like skipping cutscenes. Or retrying a level from the menu, you have to leave and re-enter instead. With a game that still has 'beat x without getting hit' achievements you'd think they'd let you do that.

But it's a very solid, if still short, 3D Platformer. The story changes are hit and miss for me and overall hub design. I felt like there was more progression in Super than New. In Super you had to beat a level to unlock another and the hubs were pretty empty as you entered for the first time. Populating with not just characters but objects as you beat levels. It had a better sense of progression. In New the levels doesn't change (apart from the spooky one which is more linearly progressed and doesn't have a 'real' hub anymore). The levels are populated with plenty of characters by default and you just add one or two next to the level doors after beating them.

They added a 'secret' sort of character which you find in each level that kind of hints at the final boss and it's a neat little tease of him and a little ominous.

I'm glad it finally went on a real sale since I felt a bit ripped off only getting 10% off for buying Super to get New when the majority of this is the same game. Even if it's improved. It is nice to actually have real 3D with full 3D camera movement but the levels don't really feel like they were changed enough that it makes that big of a difference to me. The more static camera angles would still work like they did before if they just left it.

But if you've never played this it's a good game to spend a few hours with. And thankfully there's no overly pointless grindy coin achievement which doubles your play time like Super did.

"We have Super Mario 3D World at home!"

I love platformers and I have a pretty low bar to enjoy them but this game is either made for 5-year-olds or is just incredibly dull. As you can probably tell, the game is channeling Super Mario 3D Land/World but it lacks the finesse of those games. The mechanics have no momentum or advanced abilities so the skill ceiling is verylow and you'll hit it in the first level. The levels don't do much to help either. There's a blend of 3D collect-a-thon style levels, 2D levels that are more focused on platforming, and a handful of 2D auto-runners. It's all finely made and polished but painfully easy and dull. Even the extra completion requirements are very easy and can usually be done on the first run. Moreover, I completed the majority of it in only 7 hours.

I'm glad that I've got a chance to play and support financially such a rare endeavor as making a 3D collectathon platform game.
In the past decade only Nintendo comes up with those, with a rare exception of Yookah-Laylee.
Please make more games like these, such games are never out of style, just temporarily out of fashion.

Pro: You don't have to collect 99,999 gold in this re-make.

Con: This is a re-make, not a sequel.

DLC: This version has the DLC from the first version as part of the game and not a micro-transaction.

Differences: The main difference between this and Super Lucky's Tale is that you can move your camera around more freely. There seem to be more outfits, as well. The levels are slightly different, but generally speaking, not so much. Hauntingham seems to have the biggest difference so far--a carnival level and a train.

If you're looking for a wholesome, fun, and relaxing 3D plat-former then this game is perfect.

It's a really cutesy family friendly game like most 3D plat-formers are. With alot of obvious inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy, which is even more obvious in the original Super Lucky's Tale from 2017.

I wouldn't recommend buying the original, especially on steam, the game was ported to pc pretty poorly. This game is essentially a remake of the 2017 title and is definitely a huge step up. Everything in the game feels so beautifully restored, especially the soundtrack. The first levels song "Heavy Heads" was stuck in my head for weeks.

chaos.drop
chaos.drop

Like wow, the PC version is so much better than the switch version. The devs should actually be kind of ashamed of how bad the Switch port is. I got this game as part of a bundle because that was the only way to play the original one.

My first experience with Lucky's tale was on the switch, and it was meh to bad, the only reason I gave the PC versions a try is because reviews on the original sounded interesting and my curiosity got the better of me.

Since I owned this game by proxy my curiosity got the better of me again, and since I had 100%ed the switch version I thought I'd go ahead and see if the PC version was really as bad, and to my surprise it's not. The controls are tighter, the game is faster, it actually feels like a half decent game on the PC, whereas the switch version feels like a pre-school child's toy that I felt compelled to play because I bought it, and Nintendo doesn't offer refunds.

To be honest I almost hate recommending this game because of how bad the Switch port is and I think the devs should be ashamed of their money grab port on the switch, but since I believe in rating a product and not a company the game gets recommended.

3D collectathon platformers are pretty rare nowadays, and many of them are either disappointing like Yooka-Laylee, or downright awful like Balan Wonderworld. New Super Lucky's Tale is just decent. It doesn't excel at anything, but it's very polished. The controls and the camera are perfect, the graphics are clean and colorful, there's a decent variety in environments, featuring all your favorite platformer tropes from castles to beaches to graveyards.

You might wonder, what's up with the weird title and how many Lucky's Tale games are there? Technically just one, but they keep remaking it over and over. The first one, simply called Lucky's Tale, was an Oculus Rift exclusive VR game. Then they remade it from scratch as a flat game, called Super Lucky's Tale, although it was stuck with a fixed camera angle. And then finally Nintendo reached out to them and they got enough budget to remake it one more time as New Super Lucky's Tale, and this time around they ironed out all the quirks and added a free camera. But the saga doesn't end here, the original VR game got a Steam re-release (apparently with some enhancements too) just recently.

The moveset is pretty simple, you can jump, swipe your tail and burrow underground, to either dig stuff up or avoid attacks or obstacles. There are no power-ups or any upgrade mechanics, the coins you collect are used only for unlocking outfits, which to be fair are all very cute. The levels come in both full 3D and 2.5D (sidescroller) variations, not unlike Sonic Generations, and there are some puzzle challenges too.

Now, the main issue with the game is the lack of any challenge. The collectibles are always in plain sight, the enemies are never a threat, the platforming segments are all slow paced and trivial. I 100%'d all 6 worlds in only 10 hours, and had 99 lives left over. Granted, the post-game chapter is a big jump in difficulty, but it still felt only moderately challenging compared to other games.

A Hat in Time and Spyro Reignited Trilogy are still way better games, but like I said, 3D platformers are a rare beast and if you've already played those this will do.

Astra Verde

*I would recommend this over the version without dlc, much more content, very small price difference- dear I say, without the dlc, this wouldnโ€™t feel like a full game.*

This is a very easy game, and that is completely fine, even preferable to something like crash bandicoot, which becomes hell after firs couple of levels. This is also extremely charming (everything in it is so cute!) and well-made game.

It's just adorable. I wish I could end it there, but I feel the need to elaborate a bit more on the topic at hand. This game is, unquestionably made with passion, and aimed at a younger audience. The characters are all very cartoony in their designs, the gameplay is simple to grasp within the first moments of booting up, and in spite of all the simplicity in design, it's a perfectly serviceable game with roots in the old school greats, such as Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie. If cartoon platformers are your cup of tea, this will fit just right in your collection.

New Super Lucky's Tale is a fun, polished mascot platformer. The levels are nicely designed and Lucky is great to control. The main issue I see people complain about for this game is that it's VERY easy. This is true, but whether or not that'll affect your enjoyment is a person to person problem. Another issue is that this game comes packaged with it's inferior title on steam, Super Lucky's Tale which isn't nearly as polished as the former. It makes it a bit annoying for completionists like me, who feels obligated to complete the first instalment before the more enjoyable advertised product. Aside from that, you've got some fun platforming here to enjoy.
