fun and well rounded roster, silly stages and items for diverse play sessions, gameplay that's very fun and easy to get into but has a very high skill ceiling and allows for complex techniques, and really good voice acting. Only issue is the lack of quality single player content, but otherwise a very solid platform fighter, one of my favorites outside of smash.
I can say that the actual combat is fantastic and a lot of fun. but that's where the positives end.
The game is very stripped down, hardly anything to do in it. Online is 100% dead. There aren't many game modes, and arcade is very uninspired and boring. My biggest complaint, though, is that there is no record keeping. An awesome feature in the OG super smash is all the stats it kept, it made every match meaningful. With the lack of content in this game, it would be the least they could do.
This should be a $10 game and should only be bought by people intending to play LOCAL multiplayer with friends.
really barebones for $50 game
online is dead dont bother, play MVS or brawlhalla those are better options for the price of paying nothing to start out
This is honestly one of my fav fighters to come out in a long time I just love the style of this game and the music and characters are all cool. The online works well the only other thing I wish they had was more story
Very fun game. Love the diversity in characters and the cool moves. Reason I am giving it a thumbs down is because you can never find any online matches. Pretty annoying seeing that I was looking forward to the online aspect.
The Nicktoon characters needed a game like this for some time. The roster is underwhelming, but still doesn't detract from the great gameplay and the well placed subtle references to each Nickelodeon show within the character and level designs. Overall good game.
Quite boring after a couple matches.
There really needs to be a neutral vote added. If you want "Smash" but learning a completely different system and rules and physics, then you might enjoy this. If you're looking for a fix of SSB, this is sadly not it. Refunded :(
Glad I bought this game on sale lmao, not worth $50 but it reminds me of being 6 again
This is what it is. If you are after 'budget' Smash Bro's on PC with Nickelodeon characters, then this will fill the gap. To be fair though, not a whole lot of content for $69.95AUD. That price is ridiculous! Get it on deep deep sale if it peaks your interest. Because there isn't much single player content and when Brawlhalla exists, this one doesn't add much to the genre.
Fun fighting game to play if you have friends. Net-play is dead though ... so there is that. They finally added voice lines and items. There are two more characters on the way as well. Would recommend getting it on sale. Now just waiting on Cross play to bring the netplay back to life.
You know what? I'm gonna say it. This is actually a very good game. First off, it should be highly noted that this game is NOT worth the full price tag. Get it on sale if you want it.
It's really nice that the devs more or less are listening to feedback, as they have added items and voices which were not in the initial release.
Only issue i have is the online community seems to already be dead, which means that you either play with friends or play with coms.
good game. please buy it and make the nasb scene larger
Not going to lie to you, I seriously regret this purchase. Is it a fun fighter? Yes...
Is it seriously devoid of content still? Absolutely.
There is absolutely no excuse for a game this bare bones to be retailing for 49.99. Essentially feels like one of those unofficial Smash Brothers reskin videos.
(Not that I would assume anyone would be purchasing this for single player content, but on the off chance that person is you, AVOID THIS.)
sdash wavedash ldash sdair ldair
fun game with friends but not worth the price
do not buy this absolute shitstain of a platform fighter. genuinely awful game, everyone plays the same, they tried too hard to make a modern melee and now these cockheads wont give me my fucking refund
just...not it fam. wish i could get a return
games trash no 1 plays. just get multiversus
Controller was mediocre. Felt like a beta.
I played this game for about 45 minutes and found the experience empty. I've played almost every Super Smash Bros. game for hours on end, but Nick's game could barely hold my interest.
On the other hand, I started up Multiversus this past week and can't put it down. The online multiplayer is quick and engaging, the characters have unique abilities, and the unlockable content makes you want to return to the game. None of these things are in Nick's Smash clone, and I doubt I'm going to return to the game now that Multiversus is out.
I had to wait until the Multiversus release to make this review. NASB is wasted potential. Every character plays the same, the controls aren't intuitive, and the playerbase is nonexistent. I can't recommend this game. The only redeeming quality is the characters and voicelines. Also $50 is insane.
Weak roster, every character plays the same, try Multiversus instead
Forgot to refund, dogshit game
If you want to throw away $49.99, instead of buying this game, find some random fat homeless dude on the street, give him the money and ask to pleasure him, you'll get more value.
Goated platforn fighter underrated for no good reason ngl
Got this for cheap
Still not it boss
Thumbs down
50 dollars dude? this is not smash it does not deserve this price, the multiversus warner brothers game is better and its FREE, like bruh I deserve a refund what makes you think this game is worth 25 let alone 50 when there are free games that are so much better? cash grab
its not worth it just dont even try it
Really fun fast-paced game to play with friends.
don't buy this just play multiversus its so much better
Denied a refund and spent 50 bucks for a dead game.
Be careful.
Good old days of the 2000s as our favorite Ghost boy says IM GOIING GHOST! That is all
-Incompetent Devs
-Terrible Game Balance
-Fake promises of cross play, still yet to receive it.
-Overpriced for next to no content
-Terrible netcode
Not very fun, dead, and disappointed this is all we have for the game almost a year later. I'd avoid buying this and just play the new free Multiverse
This game is actually pretty terrible. The characters are lackluster and only a couple are fun to play. Most of this shit is just gimmicks.
Game wasn't given the time or resources it deserved, updates and DLC are overshadowed now by Multiversus. Doesn't help Nickelodeon is into NFTs now either, gross.
Just go play Multiversus or Smash.
Game got review bombed after multiversus beta started :(
Fun game just didn't have a big enough budget
Oop all the poors think their opinions hold weight again
A low effort cash-grab with a boring cast of characters and they have the audacity to charge more money for new characters after already charging for the game. They only started updating anything when Multiversus came out and mods did a better job of implementing basic things like voice-acting. This game deserves its current ratings and the "Very positive" Is very misleading.
If you value your time, play Multiversus.
If you value your money, play Multiversus.
If you want a game that actually has a future, play Multiversus.
Multiversus took the time to make the game good out the box, and has devs who obviously do care about the game.
Nickalodeon all-stars brawl has a $50 price-tag and that is something Multiversus is far more deserving of, yet is free.
If you don't like Multiversus, play Brawlhala, or buy a switch for Smash, because this game is trash.
This game was bad before Multiversus, people who say it wasn't must be blind or deaf...
Comments are on so if you're a fanboy of this trash game then we can talk there.
Only good for the nostagia value, if you want something worth your money, get multiversus or rivals of aether
10/10 game, better than competitors for sure
Don't be fooled by my playtime. I bought both this game on switch and PC to support the devs. Ive played this game since it came out on switch and I have 135 hours (I have 3k hours in smash for comparison).
1 year down the line it has not paid off, especially after seeing multiversus. This game is at best fun for a week until you realise that you will have to wait on average 15 minutes to find a single person to play online, all the characters feel the same (yes even the new DLC), the mechanics + animations feels horridly jank, every patch there's a new game breaking bug and the rollback is so bad that you literally lose control of your character.
DON'T buy this game, you can play multiversus for free, find matches, feel distinction between characters and it already has way more and better content (AND IT'S IN FUCKING BETA!).
If you can afford it, just buy smash. that game actually works, it's the cream of the crop when it comes to platform fighters and isn't half broken. the only big downside is the online.
P.S. The price tag is an absolute joke, it's not even worth half.
A ton of fun. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily I could find online matches, at least on US-East.
just remembered that i paid 50 bucks for this
It has the best controls in any platform fighter I have played. Lacks in content for the price however, so I recommend getting it on sale at the very least.
I bought into the hype at $50 because big nostalgia dump and hopes of having a good smash like fighter with interesting roster on PC. Unfortunately this game failed to deliver all the things it should have were over looked and it was pushed through the door feeling like a half baked idea. Do yourself a favor take the money they are asking and spend it else where. Or have another crusty going nowhere game in your steam library. RIP hopes and dreams...
This game deserves better IMO.
I see a lot of people downvoting this game because of Multiversus. Having tried Multiversus for a while, I gotta say that Nick All-Stars is the better of the two.
Multiversus has WAY more budget and is F2P, but it's a soulless corporate shell of a game designed to flex on how much of your childhood is in WB's slimy, dirty and disgunting hands.
Nick All-Stars is a genuinely well crafted platform fighter with passionate developers who clearly love the genre and the IP's they're working with; unfortunatly the only downside is the lack of budget and it's frankly ridiculous price tag, it's not that expensive in my region and that's why I had no qualms buying it, but oh boy do they need to lower it, because it's not worth it at full price.
Is this game worth playing at all? Yes, but on a heavy discount and only if you are okay with spending most of your time playing in multiplayer, it doesn't have much singleplayer content at the moment beyond a barebones "arcade" mode.
Once you get into the meat of things, this is a game with (mostly) well thought out and fun characters with diverse movesets. Just adjust your expectations accordingly before fully committing to a purchase.
I recommend it on the basis that it's a fun as hell time and continues to improve itself all the time through updates and new characters. This game from launch to now is like night and day.
That being said Crossplay and that $50 price tag are the things I would change the most, this game AT MOST is $30 in value, and since it's a small game, we kinda need that crossplay within the next couple of months.
Take as much time as you can though, Ludosity. I absolutely know Nick and a ton of other stuff in the development have messed with the game's progression and I hope ya'll can be on good ground with all of this.
Notice how I didn't say a word about Multiversus, let platform fighters live
Really good game. Its tragic it wasn't given the resources to succeed.
(Due to the fact that its player numbers are less than 100 I really can't recommend this game unless you have friends to play it with you.)
Positives:
- Most of the character models look good (Danny looks ugly)
- Most of the stages are fun (screw Glove World and the space stage from Ren & Stimpy tho)
- Soundtrack is decent to good (Again, screw Glove World)
- Arcade mode is a bit boring, but nothing too bad either.
- Voicelines and items are pretty good.
Negatives:
- Way too overpriced, should've been 20 Euro instead of 50. Smash Ultimate (60 Euro) has a lot more content, so NASB being 50 makes no sense)
- The game is way too focused on competitive play rather having a nice mix of both just like Smash has. (it's like the devs forgot they were making a Nickelodeon game)
- Some movesets don't make sense and/or don't fit the character at all.
Even after updates, there's still only one costume for each character. And some of the costumes that we did get are really boring. For characters that barely changed outfits in their shows it makes sense, but there's much better options for some characters like Patrick and Aang.
- Small amount of singleplayer content. Atleast one more mode would've done it for me personally.
If you REALLY want to play a Melee-Inspired Platform-Fighter, then go for it, but wait for a sale. And try out the game yourself before buying all the DLC. If you end up liking the movement, then I guess you can start buying extra stuff for it. Both Jenny and Hugh seem to have a bit more care put into them than the base roster.
love the game but cant play bc of network errors
Pros:
+ The game's fun at a competitive level.
+ The character roster might appeal to younger audiences, I guess.
+ The netcode is literally better than Smash Ultimate.
Cons:
- Price tag is too high for the content currently in the game.
- The playerbase dwindled off after release.
- There aren't a lot of unique casual elements to separate it from its competitors.
The game is interesting, but not interesting enough to buy at full price. If you genuinely want the game, wait for a sale.
Dont buy this game. This game literally has no support the devs take forever to listen all the moves are generic and there is barely any originality. Just get Multiversus its the same as this but free and the devs listen.
Still can't believe i spent 50$ CAD on this
Can I get my money back so I can buy more Gleamium?
i regret buying this, i will be getting a refund right after i write this review, just get multiversus, i dont have a connection with half the characters in this, and the ones i do are spongebob and avatar characters, i could honestly care less about the loud house, and i dont watch the old school stuff, don't buy this, its overpriced, and even if there is voice lines, its still choppy and nowhere near to being as good as multiversus or smash bros, or even brawlhalla.
its not that good lol maybe if it wasn't so fast paced and less pricey maybe people would play it
CANT EVEN GET INTO ONLINE MATCH! dead game
I found this pleasant enough to play, but it's expensive and overshadowed.
I love this game and everyone saying to "just play multiversus" doesnt understand you can play multiple games from your steam library and need to get help!
(Seriously game has been omega updated and deserves at least a try)
I like this game very much. If you like fighting games, I think you would as well.
Nickelodeon has had *tonnes* of quality of life updates since launch, introducing many aspects such as voiceacting and items while also improving a lot of gameplay mechanics behind the scenes for those interested in competitive play (The netcode has seen major improvements, blocking has more penalties, nair and dair spam are both as dead as a doornail, etc). Regardless of whether you enjoyed Multiversus or were left wanting more from it's game mechanics, this game is absolutely worth a look in either case.
The game has some similar movement options to Multiversus, such as an 8-way airdash and a projectile reflect system (similar to Tom & Jerry's mechanics in MVS), but allows for much faster speeds with much less cooldown and decay on moves. This makes movement in Nick as smooth as butter, which makes just bounding around the stages and evading attacks fun in of itself, even before actually landing a massive punch. There's almost no limit to how much you can move around in Nick. Want to run away and still use a big crazy move during it? Sure! Want to fly high into the air to kill at the top? Go for it! Want to learn how to wavedash? Just press jump and shield at the same time and you're already there. It's incredibly intuitive while also allowing for a lot of depth to it.
If you're reading this review and wondering what this game is like for more casual play, then Nick is very much suited to that, as well. Items are incredibly fun and silly to play around with, allowing for some incredibly bizarre matches, especially when paired with the stage selection (Traffic Jam is my favourite). These mixed with the fantastic Sports and Free-For-All modes make Nick a fantastic alternative to the original Super Smash Bros series for those wanting something closer to the casual experiences found there.
Playing online is also really straightforward. Lobbies are a doddle to setup, the netcode works incredibly well, even when fighting overseas opponents and every mode is fully available, as well. There's even the option to select tournament standard stage lists and rulesets, for those wanting to play this game competitively, which is nice to see. Fighting randoms is pretty much instant compared to other fighting games. No faffing with "MATCH FOUND" boxes or multiple menus to go through, just pick your character and a stage and you're set to play immediately. Rematching is instant, too, making the downtime between matches incredibly brief, which I personally really appreciate.
Anyway, game's pretty good. I like it. Fight me online if you want. It'd be cool.
Ignore the Multiversus stans and review bombers, this isn't a $50 game, but it's an absolute great time
There's so many gameplay mechanics that you could spend hours just trying to learn one of the 22 characters (there's a couple more that are DLC but they're worth getting)
The game is currently on sale for $15 with the DLC being an additional $10 and I'd recommend it to everyone at that price
You can always join the NASB Grinders Discord server to help you find matches because yes, people do still play this game, and once crossplay is finally added it should be very easy to find matches
Don't let the visual jankness fool you into thinking this game doesn't handle like a dream, it's one of the most responsive games I've ever played as far as button inputs, just like Slap City before it
Would I recommend this game over Slap City?
Well, I think Slap City is easily the better deal, but it also has way less characters and not universally recognizable ones either. So up to you
But yeah, I cannot recommend this game enough, anyone saying this game is the same level or worse than Brawlhalla either never gave it a fair shot or is lying through their teeth

If this was 10 bucks i would feel like i got my moneys worth. They added two characters then started straight for dlc its not worth it tbh. Just play any other fighter
If you enjoy Platform fighters I think you have to give this game a try.
While when the game launched there was a ton of missing features like casual content, voices, crossplay, skins, and competitive stages. The developers of this game have advertised that they listen to their community on what they want content wise and in terms of balance changes.
They have delivered on nearly every requested feature that the community has asked for since launch.
as of 8/23/2022 Nickelodeon All Stars Brawl has gained, free and paid new characters such as Garfield, Shredder, Jenny, and Hugh Neutron with Rocko coming this fall. Each of these characters have come with a custom stage and almost all of them have come with one that can be used in competitive play!
They developers have added secondary colors/skins for every single fighter that add hats, change character colors, add funny episode references etc.
They have also added Items and Voice acting from many of the original shows cast members!
My fav item is the Anchor but it is cool that all the items are stuff from each of the shows featured in the game.
The game features really good Rollback netcode that makes the game really enjoyable online compared to other similar platform fighters, Paired with this really good netcode is the simple but very effective Lobby system. you can have multiple rooms within a single lobby so multiple games with different rules and such can be happening all at once! Each game can even be watched by a spectator by simply pressing spectate when the match is starting. Its really great for online tournaments if you want to stream smaller events since you can just tap spectate on a desired set currently taking place!
You can even do ranked lobbies if you want to make sure those entering your lobby know that this isnt a time to mess around. This makes it so that only stages in the current ranked quickplay rotation can be selected and wins and losses effect your elo.
The movement in nick since the beginning has always been my draw to this game. The wave dashing and air dashing are super smooth and more satisfying than any other platform fighter ive tried. Doing this inputs are also pretty simple and not hard since the game has macros to detect if you intended to do a wave dash! No accidental poor angled wave dashes or accidental air dashes.
The game like I said is more grounded so if you don't prefer floatier gameplay you'll really appreciate the feel of nick. Dash dancing is another added feature that didnt originally exist but make sthe game feel all that more fun to move around in and when paired with strafing it makes it really simple to properly space moves.
I really like this game and seriously reccomend it to anyone open to trying new platform fighters.
down b down b down b down b dow-
The best feeling Platform fighter out of any I have played.
The combat is quick and snappy, the roster feels unique and the combos and complexity is very satisfying. Visuals and music could've been better but for the limited budget the game had to work with, this game is the best that it could've been. Very good devs and great post release support. Hugely recommend.
Its a lot like smash brother but in its own way. You raise the percentage on the health and smash them off screen. I got it cause i wanted to play Zim. whats cool is the detail the put into the portraits and levels, it all looks nice for what it is and i would say buy it on sale cause i honestly it does not have a ton of stuff but its fun
Always wanted to punch Spongebob? Or smash Garfield into the abyss? This is your chance! Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is all about fighting with famous Nickelodeon characters. Whether this is just as fun as watching the episodes on TV, or maybe more fun?
Watch gameplay of all characters without the DLCs here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLLrQZFZILU
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl features an interesting roster of characters, featuring familiar faces from a variety of Nickelodeon cartoons. Still, some strange choices have been made, and I feel like quite a few characters are missing from the game. For example, Reptar from Rugrats is playable, while the babies are left out.
Now I understand the choice, because having babies fight the Turtles may not be the best combination, although I admit that a game serves this purpose, in super smash bros, for example, the princess can cause a lot of domestic violence at Mario.
But other iconic characters are also missing. For example, only Helga is from Hey Arnold and only two of the four Turtles are present in the game.
It's a shame that for this title and especially at this price there is a lack of such a number of important characters.
Nickelodeon All-Star has a good basis for fighting, but adds few framing features apart from the off- and online matches.
The Arcade Mode consists of one-on-one battles against bots that you get tired of very quickly and Sports Mode simply aims to get a ball into the opponent's goal.
That's about it.
All twenty characters are available immediately and there are no secret characters or alternate costumes to unlock. It all feels a bit scanty to be a little extra honest, but certainly entertaining if you've watched the cartoons of these characters.
This game is definitely a pass. The game was hyped for so long, I would be the first to say I was excited. As soon as the game came out, it felt floaty, there was no audio, and all the maps seemed to be moving levels (not well made moving arenas at that). I recommend you pass on this game; it seems like I should have returned this game ages ago.
do yourselves a favor and find another game that will get you excited. There is one free alternative that came out a while back that has done laps around this game. Just sad...
i bought this game for garfeild and i got garfeild
I was skeptical of the hype, and rightfully so. This game didn't live past its first 2 weeks. I mean, I'm glade it ended up being a boom for platformer fighters I guess. But man. It doesn't feel like it has weight. every thing flips, zips and flails. Feels like it's a trace of Melee. But, there is something unsatisfying about it all to me. I feel like a brain-dead masher when playing this and it just kinda works. Like, if Smash people didn't hype this up, I don't think it would have done half as well in reviews or sales.
Most people played it and had a good time. Which I'm sure made it worth it for people. But I can't in good faith recommend it to anyone now that the hype is kinda dead. Pick it up for cheap and bring it to a party. That is what this game is and ought to be seen as. Buy it for like, 10$ or something. 5/10.
Great game for a Nick fan! The devs really put heart into it.
not worth the money not really much content Boring after 3 fights
not worh the money not really much content Boring after 3 fights
This game is fast as hell but they nerfed my main PTM into the mf ground fffffff
A great game if you grew up with any of these Nicktoons.
While I understand other reviews complaining about the lack of voice acting, I think the game Is still a blast to play, yes I wsih Timmy Turner was in the game, yes I wish characters would say some of their iconic voice lines, yes I wish there were items. But acknowledging all of that I also recognise that the devs did the best they could with the budget they were provided, and as someone who absolutely loves Smash brothers and nickelodeon cartoons, this is like a dream come true. Characters like Powdered Toast man And Reptar are not only fan service but also an absolute blast to play, and Just like Smash before it this game made me fall in love with characters who's show I was not familiar with before playing this. Could this game be better, absolutely, but am I glad it exists at all and is actually a competent game yes. The game has it flaws, which everyone and their mothers have mentioned, but at the end of the day I still have fun playing it and Have an dopey grin on my face seeing the likes of Garfield and Spongebob face off on the rooftops from TMNT and that's really all that matters to me
Played this on and off. The game was ok for the most part. The newest character, XJ-9, is the only character you have to pay for (the rest of the DLC was free like the devs promised). Her moveset just feels like it beats everyone else. Nothing beats any of her attacks, it's just all over prioritizes and if you have a disjointed hitbox, then it just trades. It feels so unfair to play against her and kind of feels like that's the route the game is going at. Multiversus is around the corner and looks like it has a lot more potential for this style of game.
50 dollars is a bit much but besides that its pretty good
just spam pies as garfield and u will win
Good game in desperate need of voice acting
Not at all worth the 50+ dollars, impossible to get an online game and doesn't have enough single player content to make up for it .
Although currently there is a lack of polish and content, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is one of the most fun platform fighters I have ever played. Cant wait to see what the future of this game holds!
I would whole heatedly recommend this game if it wasnt for the $50 price tag and them having the audacity to release these new characters as paid DLC. We paid $50 for this undercooked low budget smash clone and they want us to pay MORE??? yeah fuck off
fun game but they are charging 50 dollars for it and still make u pay for the DLC characters. stupid imo
this game got worse the longer it was out. the only people that play it anymore only main danny phantom and dont talk to women. i got on to mess around as garfiled and ended up getting 3 stocked beofre i could even hit them. this game is so unbalanced and unfun. i hope this awful earns negative revenue. multiversus is going to destroy the everliving shit out of this games asshole
This game is a scam at a $50 pricepoint, and it was a scam when i got it for $40 at launch. Every characters moves come out at lightning speed and everyone essentially moves the same speed which is just too quickly in my opinion. It feels like you're playing the same match over and over again and, guess what, that's the only thing to do in this game anyway. There's no sort of adventure mode or any other mini-games or mode of gameplay aside from your standard 2-4 person brawls.
Its also very disappointing coming from their previous game Slap City. Every character in that game felt very different and the playstyles of each were so varied and unique, and the game played at a quick but comfortable speed. The amount of unpatched broken moves and cheesy tactics that plagued Nick Brawl when people were ACTUALLY PLAYING IT, made it anger inducing and completely unfun to play online. I question how a game can feel so very samey, but also so very unbalanced.
I was very hyped for this game, but with no voice acting, no different skins, stale gameplay, no signs of any relevant changes that will make people actually happy, the addition of meme characters ie. Hugh Neutron, Garfield and so on... there is no hope that this game will ever amount to anything more than a rushed over-hyped disappointment.
In short this game is absolutely not worth your time.. UNLESS you get it for like $5 and have a few friends that are willing to mess around with some classic Nick characters who are.. mute. Make this game $10 base price and maybe ill change it to a positive review because thats all this game is worth. Multiversus seems like it will be the overwhelmingly better choice than this quickly put together hype train trash fire.
selling this for 50 dollars is like a bad joke. atleast it has garfield.
they added voices. definitely makes the game feel more lively. kinda silly fun from time to time. still not worh 50 dollars.
multiversus alpha test is better
I always had high hopes for NASB, but it's really let a lot of people down with the slow updates and lack of content that should've been in the game, I feel it might be due to what nickelodeon instructed, but lack of crossplay and alternate skins (until a month after release) shouldn't have been nicks fault, the games unfinished.
while I can care less about voice actors I can see a lot of people cant live without it.
what im trying to say is, make sure you have a friend to play with, and please dont buy it full price.
can't recommend if you don't like super smash bros melee
We've come full circle to getting less than ideal franchised video games again. Please let Multiversus do better, I've always liked Cartoon Network characters better anyways. Also stay away from this publisher.
When playing this game, I would say that it's good overall. It's fun to play against my friends and it's cool to see characters I grew up watching as a child make a comeback in this Smash inspired title. I would recommend this game definitely for a younger audience for sure. What I will say is that an issue I do have with this game is that it can feel lacking when it comes to content.
This is the most fun I've had with this game in a while.
The game felt buggy at launch, but this game feels so natural now. I'd highly recommend this game to anyone who has messed with platform fighters in the past. Even if you haven't, there are so many references to shows in each character's moveset as well as their stages.
Ever since they've added Jenny, I've not only been interested in playing the game, but I've binged her entire series in my freetime. It gave me an appreciation to the series, the game, as well as the team behind this game. I look forward to the future this game has.
positives
+the gameplay is really good
+Zim is there
negatives
-no content
-the online isnt as good as promised
-lack of alts (only one per character)
-lack of voice acting
-the game overall felt very cheap
Could have been better but still fun to play with friends every now and then. Servers dead dead
5 / 10 pumpkins
This game needs more characters, nick i know you can do better then this
Good alternate for smash if you dont have a nitendo switch
Less of a game and more of a playable tragedy, a sincere effort on the part of the developers which was gimped by the publishers and rights-holders.
I'd recommend it as a fun and mechanically competent game but I think £40 for a game with little-to-no online activity is a big ask (this is also compounded by the fact that theirs no cross-platform). It's hard to give this game a thumbs down - it's a great feat on the part of the devs and it's seeing new content consistently.
What I would say is it's apparently free on PS+ in June, so if you have a Playstation - you should probably pick it up there instead. It might even be the new lease of life the game needs.
Not worth it's full retail asking price, but may be worth picking up in a future sale as a discounted version of Smash. Lacking essential content like voice acting, weapons and game modes to truly be a full experience. 3/5 Jiggles
This game has some of the least friction between doing what you want to do and being able to do it. It has the best feeling controls of any platform fighter. Add that to the fact that the game gives you so many movement options that simply playing the game, regardless of balance or polish, feels so satisfying. If you dive deeper into the mechanics and matchups you'll find a very deep competitive game with a thriving community on PC. Sadly, it is a discord fighter at the moment (https://discord.gg/mD9hQ3FxFp) but hopefully that will change once crossplay comes out. Give this a try if you're hungry for a competitive platform fighter that actually feels good to play and doesn't require a game cube.
the games actually really fun and over time i really think it's gonna be an even stronger gem
hugh neutron and rocko? going to be insane
This game is fun, but it has some issues. First off, the characters. The starter set is awesome, but the new characters in the paid for pack are even cooler, but I already paid $50 for this game. And after seeing Multiversus' trailer, I think I'll be taking a break from this game. And the best part is that Multiversus is free.
game is dead, lacks content, has no voice acting, and has gual, to ask for money for dlc characters when theirs barely any at all, FOR 50$ , GO BUY RIVALS OF ATHER, dont support these people.
Congratulation, you made me "Shut up and take my money" mood by releasing XJ-9, my life as a playable character, here, in 2022! I'm so impressed! The idea to make a map (Tremorton Joyride) that is a set of references to the series, a music track in which 5 different motives are mixed, a bunch of attack animations with such a huge variety of weapons, THIS IS TOO GOOD TO BE JUST A "BRAWL"! No, i'm not a "brawl" specialist, didn't even played "Mario All Stars", my maximum conditional sub-quality bar is brawlhalla, how can i judge gameplay fairly? For a person who just meeting the genre and a fan of old cartoons this is...just a pleasant experience. Maps and musical score match their show and characters almost perfectly, i said almost, because I needed an explanatory brigade to identify "Rugrats" in "Playground" stage, simply not look nor sounds like that show (maybe i remember it bad), the same brigade came to me when it came to "Duo Madness" (the only map i hate because i'm constantly falling xD), not very match "Ren and Stimpy", but, AGAIN, maybe it's just me.
OST and maps from the Avatar - blew my mind. Like, it's...just no words if you love avatar! And zone from Danny Phantom? I couldn't be more happy... TMNT stages that sounds like 90's Sega FM music, omg. By the way, i'm not sure about TMNT if it was a great idea to take their old designs rather than nickelodeon new ones? Maybe yes, but maybe no for the new generation who probably is not familiar with old Turtles. But you know what, if you didn't saw it - watch the classic shows, it's worth it :D
UPD! They added voice acting! HypeHypeHype xD
P.S. Of course, I would really like to see new story games with these characters. Like the game series used to be "Nicktoons: Unite!" or "Nicktoons: attack of the toybots" (
Get it. Its a fun game to play with a friend and if you are comp. then this game supports you with its rollback netcode. Its easy to get into a game and you can spend plenty of time playing and learning characters that you love.
Just today, a major update added what everyone at launch wanted: Voicelines! Unfortunately, it really seems like too little too late, since I tried joining online matches to experience the new content, and I couldn't find anyone in Quickplay or the brand new Items mode despite sitting in queue for 20 minutes. It seems like the only way to get actual fights is using Discord. The devs have also promised Crossplay is on the way which could make finding matches easier, but I worry by the time it's out, everyone will be gone.
The craziest thing, each new character added is better than the last, with Jenny being the most interesting yet, with more characters teased for release this year. The big problem is, beyond competitive play, there is very little to do. The single-player arcade mode is extremely bland, beating it once really gives you everything it has to offer. Also, unlike something like Smash Bros, it's very hard to just play casually with friends since the gameplay is so much faster and more intense, designed specifically for competition in mind. It really suffers from a bit of mixed-up identity, using silly cartoon characters for such an intense, mechanically-demanding game, with no real casual content for kids or dabblers to enjoy. Unfortunately I think this is the real reason the player base has dropped so hard; if you're not in it to master 1v1, you're out of luck.
When this currently costs 50$ base game and contains double-digit player counts, whereas Multiverses, a much more polished & higher-budget experience, launches free-to-play in 1 month... Save your money.
The game is super fun, movement feels great, you can actually do combos. And yes, it has voice acting
The game's not perfect. There's not a lot of game modes, the character roster isn't the largest, and the characters that are here can feel unbalanced at times. I won't sit here and call the game flawless.
That all being said, the game is still a blast to play - especially with friends.
They recently added items and voice-acting to the game. These two additions definitely help the game feel more polished. We are also getting more characters in the future, so that's something to look forward to.
Great platform fighter with mostly recognizable Nickelodeon characters.
actually fun
they added voice acting
dedicated devs
play now
This game was not worth it's asking price on release...
However... due to them adding alternate costumes, new great characters, fixing bugs and control issues, adding items and voice acting, and crossplay very very soon...
I'd say this game is MORE than definitely worth picking up just to have stupid fun with your friends!
I do recommend picking it up when it's on sale, but either way, you have a now very solid fighting game with lots of content to keep you busy, fluent and snappy controls, tons of unique and diverse fighters, and even more to come in the future!
Hats off to Ludocity for putting their heart and soul into what could've just been another shovel ware game, and turning it into a genuine hidden gem!
The game is alright if you have local friends to play and plan to play long enough. For most though the game is overpriced, online is dead as well as local scenes and the new voice acting doesn't really fit well.
A great game for Nickelodeon fans, old or new
I really enjoyed the game myself
As someone who has played a lot of different platform fighters; I can say this one is in the top percent. Yes it has its flaws (I do wish some of the characters had a bit more variety in their moves), but this clearly has a lot of heart put in it, and each update really makes it feel that much better. There is a lot of love and attention given to each of these characters; and some of the innovations it brings to the platform fighter genre are brilliant (the edge shield teeter mechanic is pretty unique and interesting). Well done to the developers I say! And I look forward to see what else they bring.
its good but it sucks that it died so fast :( maybe if it was a bit cheaper or something ion know
Listen, I love this game and 100% recommend it. The thing is that this game's updates were just too little too late. I feel like if the devs had more time and got more time to put certain things (like items and voice acting) into the base game, there'd still be a decent following for this game. Either way, I love this game, I just wish it were more finished on release.
Good game. cry babies complaing about no voice acting never even bought the game and never will lmao
very fun game but far from polished. definitely not worth 40$
finally another game that plays like smash, and it has roleback netcode, and on pc and also stands on its own as more than just a game inspired by smash.
not fun, no wonder pets, and too expensive
the alpha alone for mutliverus made this game look like it was made in unity alone and uploaded onto vrchat. stay away from this publisher as they rush and churn out games at a pace akin to Digital Homicide studios,
Ludosity/Fair Play Labs either were in so deep that they couldn't back out in time to get away from them or just didn't know their reputation. This game might be good four years from now. MIGHT
This game absolutely slaps hard, don't listen to the whiny Smash fanboys that diss it for not having all the money in the omniverse, without a doubt one of the best feeling platform fighters out there. I'm more of a fan of Rivals due to the Workshop, I'm a modding kind of girl, but NASB is an absolute knockout and it feels amazing. I can stop playing this game for 10 years and I'll still be able to pull of sick combos from muscle memory alone.
I picked this game up day one, and I remain mixed in my opinions on it, making it kinda difficult to just give a general thumbs up or down. First things first, this game is absolutely not worth $50 dollars, period. If you can pick it up on a sale for 15-20 bucks its a good time with some buddies, especially now that items have been added, but it remains lacking in content. The game also seems to be struggling from an identity crisis on all levels, a functionally indie game being treated like its AAA because its backed by a massive company and charging consumers almost full price for what should have been $30 tops. As well as focusing so much on the memes that they have chosen to add Hugh Neutron as dlc before Jimmy, or timmy turner, or any number of other popular and heavily requested nick animated characters. The game is continuing to be developed, but with how many base features that took almost a year to be added, some developer interviews that pin a decent amount of blame on nickelodeon forcing the game out the door, and many other quality platform fighters either out or in the pipeline, I just can't recommend supporting this game.
garfield is in the game and i love him and this game 10/10
I'd rather eat a bowl of nails than spend one more minute on this dog poop game.
WHY IS JUMP Y/TRIANGLE. FFS LET US MAP OUR BINDS ITS 2022. CUSTOMISATION IS KEY IN FIGHTING GAMES C'MON.
It's a great game on sale . Get it if you haven't . Really fun . It even has voice acting now so it feels like it got life . Just one of those games that needs a push from the player base side . They've worked on the public feedback so definitely signs of a good team . Can't wait for future changes tbh .
So after only playing two hours of Nick All-star brawl, I can honestly say it is NOT the "Smash Killer" people claim it could've been. This game is textbook example of what happens when you hype up a game to extreme levels. Because it creates an expectation it will never meet. While I do like the nostalgia of some of the old school nicktoons characters, the gameplay is awkward at best, Clumsy and Clunky at worst. Pressing Jump and Down to go through a platform is to be blunt, a stupid idea especially for a platform fighter. And the stuns when you clash a move or push someone towards a ledge is also pretty dumb. I've only won my matches by pure luck most of the time. And while there were some stages that were fine, like Battlefield, FD and Animal crossing style stages were fine, some of the more gimmicky ones are painful. Worst than some of the gimmicky stages in Smash Brawl. And that's saying something. Oh and one last thing, while it was nice that voice acting is in the game because I know that was what everyone was wanting to see in this game, I found the voices to be grating and repetitive after awhile...
I didn't buy into the hype, as I kinda knew it would be more on the mediocre side... But sadly, it's definitely on the lower mediocre side of things. The only good thing it has going for it is Nostalgia, Grabbing projectiles and throwing them back and the online play (when you can actually get it to work) actually plays well! And I believe the only reason this game got even some attention was two things... Nostalgic Nicktoons characters and Smash Melee gameplay. If it weren't for those, nobody would even look twice at this game. I say just play smash if you want your smash fix. However if you do wanna try it yourself, do yourself a favor and wait for a sale. I wouldn't spend more than $10 personally (I paid $20).
3/10
It's fine, and perhaps the online verses is good but the single player experience is lacking.
The controls feel a little unresponsive, pressing an attack button at the same time you see someone attacking you will result in your character standing there and getting hit. And this is offline.
The inclusion of items makes the game feel a little more like the party game I was hoping for, but the AI is very bad. If there's an obstacle or moving part of the stage the AI is more than happy to let itself get knocked out or dragged off screen by it. Just standing on top of the car in the junk stage until it leaves, taking the enemy with it is a good example of this.
The UI is a touch unfriendly for a fighting game. Lots of menus and sub menus. Why does returning to the character select screen reset the game? I don't want to have to choose each fighter, and each fighter's AI level, and each fighters costume, and each fighter's team, and the rules for the match each time. Maybe I only wanted to change 1 fighter out for another. Time consuming and a drain.
Also, 4 character slots but only 2 costumes each? Very strange choice
All in all, the combat is a little stiff and awkward, hopefully they keep improving it and adding to the roster. Big fan of them adding in voice acting and items for free. We just need more work on the fluidity of the game, the responsiveness, and the AI.
I paid £17 for this and I'm not sure it was worth it. But as Smash isn't on Steam this will have to do for now
5/10, eeegghhhhh
Online play or local, no in-between. Was hoping to go online with my friends but have 2 players on separate controllers on my end but wasn't possible. Cannot speak for gameplay, but only 9 players were online yesterday? Seems like finding a match full stop would be pretty difficult unless you can convince 1-3 friends to pay the steep £40 for this (seems to rarely be on offer). Will try again at some point maybe.
to spammy not enough content and hella laggy online i believe this game is dead dont buy it
Dont waste your money on this game.
Dont waste your money on this game.
This game is such a waste of money and I should have never purchased this waste of money. Do not buy this pile of trash. I played this for an hour when it came out and never played it again. Do not buy this game.
Shredder seems to be a pretty powerful and potential fighter for the most part but seeing him get kicked and thrown the stage against LVL. 5 CPU's makes him look like a measly little weakling.
I only bought this game too fill my multiverses void. Trash game
Despite Nick's best efforts, Ludosity insists on continuing to improve the game
This game is fun once you change your controls.
The game is great and has fun characters and levels however, the controls are absolutely horrible. No tap jump and other Smash-like quick controls; pressing a jump button which could've been an attack button feels unsettling (sometimes I press jump when I want to do an attack).
I won't even mention that they took forever to give life to characters, items and alt colors.
The development of the game is slow and a wasted opportunity to make it a great game.
Still playable tho, but please, let us change the controls at our will.
What other game allows you to be Nigel Thornberry, and give you the ability to fight against Powdered Toastman?
I want to give a positive review to this game I really want.
But I cant unfortunately.
The game is dead and a fucking mess.
Most of the character models and animations in the game look wack.
Theres like 2 or 3 characters with pretty much the same move set.
Some of the stages hurt to look at. ( Im talking about you glove word )
It took them 8 months to add VOICE ACTING to the cast and we are still waiting for cross-play to come to the game.
This game makes me sad.
There was so much potential but nick decided to be stingy and launch the game at FULL PRICE when the game wasn't even complete.
Hell! 9 months later and the game still feels incomplete.
Ludosity its trying their best to save this game but its just not enough.
There still 2 more characters on the way but I highly doubt will do anything at this point.
Especially with multiversus on the way.
feelsbadman :')
Only buy it on a sale (Which is what I did)
Animations, ui, menu design, and overall style could heavily use an overhaul. Game play on the other hand is really fun, except when the not so good animations get in the way not to mention there's not that much to do in the game other than, play? I don't know how smash bros did it but doing the same thing in smash bros (1v1, no items, Final Destination, fox only) is somehow, better?! Maybe it's the lack of personality, character roster, things to do, or the feel of the game play affected by the animations but to me it's probably the feel of the game. I hate to say it but, this game looks and feels cheap, it definitely needs time to improve these problems and feel more official, and maybe more mature(?). That's one thing I realized while typing this, smash bros has this mature, but more importantly, grand feel to it with the music, art, portrayal, and execution. This game has potential but it's gonna take time for them to figure things out, all we can do is hope and wait. I can't recommend this but I don't want to deter anyone who bought this from playing and/or supporting it.
