I've played this game every autumn since I first played it, including some other times after getting it on a different platform. The less you read about it, the better, honestly. It's full of characters that feel real, and situations that are all too familiar to one's own life. Definitely recommend playing it on a cold and/or rainy day.
This is one of the most incredible games I've ever played. Beautiful artwork and storytelling... Truly touched my heart! I seriously cannot recommend this game enough! A true masterpeice, and an autumnal gem. An autumn tradition for sure.
Absolutely fdjhsakghfdkajnglkad. I'll come back with a more coherent review after I decipher what the fuck I've just played.
'Crimes?'
'Crimes.'
Came for the art and music, stayed for one of the best stories I've ever experienced. I fuckin love every one of these furry lil dudes and I've never related to a character more than Mae Borwoski. The soundtrack is also SO good, I have some of the osts on my playlists!! Plus, they absolutely *nail* the feeling of living in a small, "dying" town.
Basically 11/10 I will not shut up about this game ever idc
Love this game. Amazing story, amazing minigames, the platforming is fun. My only complaint is that walking back and forth around the town to get to your friends gets a little old after a while, but that doesn't do anything to bring down this absolutely 10/10 experience.
Night in the woods genuinely changed my life. The only reason i dont have more hours on this game is because ive spent so long just rewatching Jacksepticeye's playthrough of it. This games characters will forever stay in my heart.
The ending felt just a bit underwhelming (Not sure if others felt the same or my expectations were too high) but other than that the game was pretty good really
sweet little world, feels homey and also strange. cozy, but also scary at times. i had one nightmare after playing but there were other factors contributing to that. loved the main gang of characters, feels like i know them irl, or like i used to, and i miss them now. spooky quirky autumnal vibes, best enjoyed with tea and licorice. don't worry about the bass playing minigame, i never got good and that's fine
A wonderful game with extremely lovable characters and a fantastic soundtrack that dives into the deep void that is the mind. With ups and downs and equilibrium between sweet and savory, the game's groundbreaking profundity is an unexpected experience for the game's unique, cartoonish style, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone.
This is a Really Fun and Exciting Game with many options to go though very good story telling and I would Recommend this to friends who enjoy a good story rather then a repetitive game with no different content. You play as Mae going though the town of possum springs, to try uncovering a secret and the secret is really worth this game. You could buy this during a sale and it only cost 9.99 Very Good Game.
Absolutely love the style of the character, the music is fantastic, and i love uncovering more of the story as i play. i absolutely recommend.
Amazing game. SO relatable, sad, funny, and cozy. Highly recommend. For sure take your time and explore and enjoy the little moments, the game flys by, even though its 9-10 hours on average. I only unlocked 13/31 badges so there is still so much to be seen.
I disliked nothing about this game it's so well made and as a person with severe depresion and trama the ending will always make me cry. It's one of my favorite games and I will be getting one of mae's drawings as my first tattoo :)
Very beautiful art and coming of age story surrounding Mae, a young cat dealing with nostalgia, change, reconnection with old friends and places as she grapples with hear fears, finding her purpose, the complex boundaries and grey areas between good and evil, and untangling the meaning of life. Main game: 7/10 Demontower mini game: -1000/10 (500 of my hours were spent playing and suffering through Demontower)
Best. Game. Ever. As soon as i finished it I started going through metamorphosis. This metamorphosis caused me to turn into a giant, gross-smelling, trash-eating, low iq'd rat. Thank you Night in the Woods, I don't think I could have reached this level of happiness if i stayed a human. I cant begin to explain how accomplished i feel whenever I- *braaaaaaaaappppp* S-ssorry I stuffed my belly with naughty children a few m-m-m-mmmminutes ago.... Oh ! About that. I've also grown an unhealthy addiction to killing any naughty children that i come across. Hah! Their families will never know a 70 meters long rat got them. Absolutely epic.
Update:I've grown an insatiable urge to kill anyone that's approximately 1 kilometer near me. Andddd! I've grown somewhere around 200 to 250 meters long. welp :P thats about it folks :D I'll keep you updated if any major stuff happens . Ratlord out!
This is an amazing game! The music was always fun and interesting to listen to. Mae's dialogues were always funny and accurate for her age, the random drops of wisdom always hit, and SELMER'S POEM! While the game is technically single player, you can have your friend next to you while you play narrating the dialogue which makes it more interesting!
Really great game, but forever tainted by the fact that its creator commit suicide and the developers didn't help him/ contribute to it.
I absolutely adore this game. Have very good memories of when I played this game! Love the style and the story.
Reminiscent of my middleschool days, this game is the embodiment of memories from years back, back when i would watch the Jacksepticeye play-through on the living room TV.
I used to have the main menu theme as my alarm sound, during the winter of my last semester in middleschool!
I've loved this game since release, and I've loved this game since I've bought it. The soundtrack and the atmosphere is something else to come back to after awhile, as a breath of fresh air to the daily grind.
Night in the Woods is quite possibly one of the best games I've ever played. I've played through it a few times over the years and every single time it feels as if I'm having some sort of life breakthrough. The game takes place in a depressed former industry town based on the Rust Belt. I've spent a fair amount of time in a city that is the epitome of a Rust Belt town and I can't even describe how accurate it is to real life. Even though the game has anthropomorphic characters, they're some of the most interesting and relatable characters in gaming today.
Each segment of the game takes place over the course of one day, and you simply walk through the town and talk to the citizens of Possum Springs. This consist of the entirety of the gameplay, so the player can't go in with a mindset of wanting a platformer game. It requires patience to play Night in the Woods. I would essentially consider this game a visual novel with very slight point and click elements.
Good game, story is a fairly interesting and relatable. Writing is pretty solid throughout. Nice little 10 hour experience.
This is game is absolute masterpiece and i think everyone should play it, specially around age of 20-29 it hits right in the gut.
Its a shame that devs of this game which is all about friendship forgot about.
Rest is peace Alec, your music will live on forever.
As someone who has a short attention spam this game always has me hooked, I played for 10-hours straight when I first got the game. I haven't found time like that recently to do another run-through, with no breaks but when I do, I will. This game is calming and has the right amount of twists and turns, along with challenges to entertain and keep me on the edge of my seat. It has cute dialogue, and moments that made me tear up. In all its a well balanced game with plot twists and normal day to day activities 10/10 will play again.
A life changing story. No exaggerating, this dramatically changed who I am.
I cannot recommend this game highly enough. A simple thumbs up does not cut it.
This game is like the exact oppisite of Pure crack and yet its so good i love the charecters i love the story the meaning behind it all for once a slower game is better than crack cocaine
the characters in this game feel really real to me and i love the interactions you can have with people every day.
also beatrice is cool but gregg is forever my favorite
I played this game for the cute animal characters
I did not expect to get this attached to everyone
I did not expect the sheer existential dread
I did not expect to cry my fucking eyes out.
Good story with memorable and well written characters. Deceptively cute art-style for a game that tackles a lot of serious and complex issues like mental health. Best played knowing the least about it
I will fully admit that im just not the target audience for this game the music is great but i just dont like games where the draw is the story ill probably finish it one day but for right now its just ok if you like story games check this out
this game is literally the best game of all time, it’s fall time please play it you won’t regret it what so ever
While this game is basically a side scroller game, I very much enjoy the characters and the goofiness applied to them. While it is possible to beat the game in about 3 hours, if you actually wonder the town and interact with each character from your family to strangers in town to even sticking with one of your friend's routes, you start to feel for the characters in similar to your own life. While I'm sure people who want more action packed excitement may not have the patience for this kind of game, I'd say anyone who is interested in goofy, but good character development and story may enjoy this game. Especially as a game that tackles serious issues with mental and/or emotional issues and will unexpectedly relate to a lot of people struggling with such in life. I hope this review helps you to make your choice in buying this game or not.
P.S. Rest in peace Alec Holowka. I'm sorry that this had to happen to you after you made such a great game. Even today, those that have played it or are getting into now enjoy what you made. It's just a shame that this caused you to get the attention you didn't deserve. I hope this game can just continue to bring people happiness and help them through their struggles. People, I know pain is hard and life is pain, but please, don't believe that suicide should be a solution.
such a good storytelling game with beautiful visuals and background music. i would recommend getting the music package because it is definitely worth it! i've always loved this game and i'm glad i can finally play it through
Excellent character-driven experience that will stay with you long after completion. The characters are nostalgia-addled small town queer kids (except Bea I guess but she seems pretty gay to me) trapped in the grating loop that is daily life in an Appalachian rust-belt town with an economic situation in decline. While their punk attitudes lead to a degree of rebellion and rejection of their more traditional culture, it becomes clear in the opening hours of the game that divorcing one's self from the past is easier said than done. Both for the characters, and the town.
Night in the Woods is a meditation on nostalgia, the future, and what those things mean for eccentric (And maybe a little bit criminal?) young-adults.
We have nothing to lose but our chains.
A cute and quirky adventure game with wonderful characters and plenty of mystery.
This is now my favorite story-oriented adventure game
This game's style, storyline and music is just amazing! if you enjoy slice of life story driven adventure games, you have to play!
Decent game but it had a section where the main character was injured and your movement speed was slowed so you can hold right but slower
Such a great game!! Perfect amount of spooky! There is >ALOT< of reading so if you're not into that then this game might not be for you but if you dont mind it then this will be perfect. Great story line, super entertaining. I'm aware theres multiple endings depending on who you hang out with (Bea or Gregg) , so im yet to see that! I hung out with Bea :)
A game about depression, growing up, people changing, life, love, abuse, PTSD, loss, capitalism, faith, family, community, friends, the past, the future, art, work, sickness, youth disenfranchisement, corruption, disaster, spectacular music, unintended consequences, neglect, hobbies, mental health, small town politics, and the endless marching of time. Also you play as a cat 10/10.
Very dark, creepy story. These are real situations in some towns. I've been groomed by cults in my childhood, from Freemasons and Jesuits, suicide cults and Black Arts Societies to MK Ultra. Why was my childhood filled with so many cults? I identify with everything Mae went through, especially the mental health aspect of being followed around by a cult that you can't talk to anyone about. To me, this game is my life, and puts words and shapes to the trauma I'm trying to piece together. "All things die, be at peace."
Genuinely the best game I've ever played.
This game is filled with amazing characters, good art, and good dialog.
Even if I sucked major ass at the band practice sequences, (and I mean really bad), I still loved every bit of it.
If you're wondering if you should play this game, do it.
Also shout out to my boy Germ Warfare.
its has a great art stlye and i love the story there mystories parcore puzzels and tones of fun easter egss i love it and would recamend
took what a year for me to finish? and I have zero clue what the hell just happened. amazing game
game good, cat said relatable things
this is the best game ive ever played
the main character is unlikable and the game is frankly boring 10 hours into the game i was waiting for something to happen, anything to happen- if anything does ever actually happen in this game its later than 10 hours in
the environment is fantastic the way the leaves blow and the people in the town move and feel is great but thats all the game feels like, is people in a town NPC's with no real stories, the dialogue ranges from good to absolutely cringe
I don't recommend this to anyone honestly.

what a terrible "GAME", only good for sleeping!
Don't waste your time or money. I got this because it looked cute and it was Halloween season. The art is cute, but this game is so so boring. None of the characters are likable or have interesting dialogue to me. 9 hours of trudging through boring dialogue interspersed with stupid boring tasks that feel insulting to your intelligence. It's like it has "gameplay" meant for little kids with a story-line meant for depressed college drop outs. A real disconnect there. I think this game was shown (to me at least) as more of an adventure type game with things to do, but it's just an interactive story. And I'd use the term interactive very loosely here. I don't think your choices really make a difference, and if they do it didn't seem like they did. There were just options between random dialogue with your friends. The fox character pissed me off too; so annoying. Needless to say I'm never buying into the "cozy game" genre ever again. Ultimate snooze-fest. Should've just played some stardew valley and called it a day.
this game is so cool i wish friends were real
Genuinely, Night in The Woods is one of my favorite games I've ever played. I found it way back when it came out, and then finally got the opportunity to play it myself somewhat recently. The experience of playing it is just so incredible and the game itself is so beautiful and meaningful. I'm on my third play through now (I'm attempting to get as many achievements as I can manage) and every single time I play I feel like I discover something new or I play in a different way, and every time it has such an impact on me.
The art is so pretty, I love the layered 2D style and I love the designs of every character and every place. Each area has its own personality and I love all the little background characters and the npc's you can talk to or listen to and all of the little side stories. The story is done so well and I love how everything builds up into the finale and how the ending of the game feels so somber yet so peaceful. No matter what themes the game handles, it always manages to stay optimistic and loving towards its characters and its world. It's got a very optimistic nihilistic approach and I honestly love it, I still think of quotes like "I believe in a universe that doesn't care and people that do." The characters are so good and so complex, and I love each and every one of them.
TL;DR: NITW is definitely one of my favorite games, and I feel like no matter how many times I replay it, it's still fun and I still have more to see. I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone interested in very story-driven and character-driven games. It's got such a gentle and homey feel to it and then when the horror kicks in, it's done really well. Great characters, great story, great writing, overall very great game.
absolutely lovely game. magnificent. precious. I love it.
incredibly touching and moving story. and i loved the art. very dark but cozy game and mae is a wonderful character to play with.
One of the few games that made me go out of my way for the achievements.
used to bring my laptop to my old camp and play at night and just chill, now no more camp and no more laptop, good times though and, good game.
Cried like 3 times While playing this, Abselutely lovely story. i loved it all the way thru. Definitely one of the best story games out there. :D
This game has a very unique story to tell and tells it in it's own unique way. If you like slower paced atmospheric games play this game!
You're going to play a cute-looking cat with criminal tendencies and mental issues in a depressing town that makes you believe that growing up in a small town in the US is one of the worst things that could've happened to you. 7/10!
i haven't played this game since middle school and i just realized how much this game had an affect on my character, i am now gay and have mixed feelings towards my home town
God this game is so fucking good, I don't think I can put it into words. I love it so much. I can't remember the last time I cried this much at a video game. Play it, you won't regret it.
Also a lot of the real parts are still relevant five years later so, yikes
very stylish, and vibey, cute characters. would recommend
Night in the Woods is a game that is quite special to me. I played it as a child and watched others play it even as an adult. The art style and story are what drew me in as a kid. I could relate to May in more ways than one. I loved the idea that when May is posed with a question or when she wants to respond to someone, she is responding not you. She has her own way of answering and interacting with the people around her. Sometimes she can't read a room and the other characters visibly get upset at her. Being in that situation before, as a kid, I can't help but feel uncomfortable when I see it happen too May. The little details in the game are wonderful. I got curious one time and jumped through a window and found Mallard's Tomb. Or how when you walk around in game the other citizens of Possom Spring have their own lives. The controls are standard, but when you have to play the bass in the band parts I have to focus really hard. Either on controller or keyboard I always find it hard, but that's because I'm really bad at rhythm games. But they're still fun parts to play. Night in the Woods is something I would recommend to anyone who's into story divine games or people who want to really feel for a main character.
One of the best games I have ever played.
Night in the Woods is one of a kind.
There isnt much going on gameplay wise, but the character and story, just WOW, the character felt so realistic, and interesting (more on that later)
The OST was really catchy, mostly relaxing, which is fitting, this game is kinda of a slow burner, so its ideal for those wanting a game you can play at your own pace.
The artstyle is beautiful, almost like something you would see in a children's picture book, its colorful, lively and also well animated.
Like i mentioned earlier, this is a slow burner, most of the time you basically expend the game hanging around with other characters, speaking of, the game allows you to take choices at several points, mainly what to say, which can affect how the conversation will go, but theres also on which character you decide to hang around with, those being Bea (A gloomy and cold crocodile) and Greeg (An hyperactive delinquent fox) , allowing you to learn their story and relationship with the protagonist Mea (A dropout from collage, a cat), its possible to hang around other characters as well, but those are optional.
So now talking about the themes and characters, the game explores several psychological themes such has depression, wanting to fit in, wondering about your future, social anxiety, among others, and it does it SO WELL, this is what really sold me on this game, alongside its characters which explore these themes.
Mea the protagonist, is quite an interesting one, at first you might... not like her, but the game over time explores her relationship with others, as well as to who she is and what she has/had to go trough in her life, she is a deeply flawed character, and one i could really relate to, i cant say much more since that would get into spoiler territory, but she will grown on you.
The game does have a couple of Minigames spread out, mainly two in particular, one being the "Music Practice" which plays kinda like Guitar Hero, where you gotta click on the notes on the correct timing, dont worry, this is mostly just messing around and you dont need to be good at it (mind you, the character will comment on your performance :P
The other being "Demontower", which is optional, this one plays like your usual dungeon crawler, but it can be quite hard.
The game does offer a quite a bit of replayability, like mentioned earlier, you take decisions at several points in the game, which affect how the story plays out, so you can do multiple runs to learn all the choices and learn about all the characters.
Anyway, Night in the Woods is special, is one of those games that really gets you thinking and one everyone should give a try, specially those interested in psychology, who knows, it might even change your life.
10/10.
мабуть я настільки багато бачила контенту про цю гру, що мені не вистачило уваги її пройти самостійно. думаю, повернусь до неї, коли буде настрій!
Pretty fun game if you like talking to every little thing and exploring a lot and I actually had lots of fun doing so but the way the game ended disappointed me a lot to be honest.
PS: Oh and also the game has a really good soundtrack and covers good themes
It is a good experience even on the first play through. There are lots of different ideas and themes that are tackled that you could relate too. The replay value is very small but worth while.
It has a native Linux build for you REAL LINUX GAMERS OUT THERE
best visual novel esque game. truly an experience with lovable characters that really makes you feel immersed.
10/10 would cry again
Honestly one of the BEST games I have ever played. The art is so beautiful and the story is amazing.
is got a figurative and literal bear
It's a nice game with a pretty good story that's not especially long unless you really go around doing as much as you can like I did. The music and the rest of the sound design are also quite good. It's definitely not for everyone, but overall I'd say it's a 7/10.
this game is so beautiful, and i love the story so much. it can be a slow burn and boring at times, but it is a game that meant a lot to me, and i am so glad i played it
I am not joking this time. This game reconnects me with people and experiences that I often force myself not to think about. And, being the age I am, gives me slight nods to things I should avoid.
I love every bit of the design, message, and atmosphere of Night in The Woods.
I miss you, Sky.
Has multiple paths so the game can be played through multiple times, and the story and characters are really good.
AMAZING!!!! didnt expect any of that.
First off, I have to say I enjoyed this game. It's unique art style is charming and colourful, although the animation is incredibly basic the small world generally feels like a nice place to be.
Gameplay & Controls
There is a platforming element to the game but its very simplistic and there's nothing particularly challenging about moving around. The three jumps in a row thing which makes your last jump a big one was largely superseded by the run and running big jump decades ago, so it's kinda strange to see that make a return.
The controls are fine but really odd. They use 'C' as the action button instead of the industry standard 'e' for absolutely no obvious reason and the game does not use the mouse at all. The last time I came across this type of control setup I was using a Commodore 64..
The controls and core mechanics are incredibly basic, with the sole focus on the story. The story is essentially an animated text adventure, where you walk to people and work your way through the speech bubble dialogues
Story
This is pretty much the whole game here. You play an entitled 20 year old 'child' who has never had to work for anything in their life. The child in question is one of those kids who has always had everything they need but steals for fun anyway, and spends their spare time doing petty crimes. 'Crimes'. Yeh.. Shut up you little should really focus on the review. The game shows you this pretty early on and honestly, it made the main character incredibly un-likeable for me.
Playing through the story you're aware that something bad happened and the main character basically left college for some reason, the story is incredibly slow to extract the reasoning behind this and doesn't ever really fully explain the back story to it. There are hints of possible mental illness in there but in all honesty it just comes across as a spoilt rich kid desperately unprepared for life who resorted to violence as their spoilt entitled life started to fall in on them. Yeah i get that there were some issues there but it all seemed like it was most likely due to a total lack of any real parenting than anything else.
Anyway **Spoiler alert**
The game then goes off on this wierd death cult tangent which is absolutely riddled with plot holes and is never fully explained. 39 missing people in a small town and only the local bobby is working on it? It just makes no sense, there is just no way they would have every got away with that. It would have made more sense if they'd just started it and only killed a couple of people.
I really wanted there to be a really clever plot twist where the game concludes that the whole thing was an expression of MAE's insanity, and replaying it you actually see that it's all in Mae's head, but nope, deathcult.
The only way it would have made sense would have been if the whole plot, characters and world only existed in Mae's head.
I did enjoy it, but it felt fairly lazily written and I thought it could have been a lot better.
God this game is amazing, can't recommend enough. If you're looking for something gameplay heavy this is not it, but if story based games are your thing this is the one. It's beautiful and funny and heartwarming, and manages to talk about important matters in a way that feels natural to the story, and without changing the tone.
Additionally, this game rewards exploration in such a fun way. I'm on my third playthough and I'm still positive I've missed a bunch, and what's more impressive is I haven't been compelled to look up anything! Overall a beautiful game, and certainly one of the best I've ever played.
This game appeals to a very niche audience, so you'll either love it or hate it. I hated it. 10 hours in, and NOTHING remotely interesting has happened and the game doesn't hint it'll be going anywhere anytime soon. The guitar mechanic is interesting but you can only play 2 songs per in-game day. The main character is extremely dislikeable. I don't care about the story at this point because, as I said, nothing has happened and even if something will happen I can't bring my self to open the game anymore because it's so boring I couldn't care less. Maybe this is less of a game and more of an interactive story, but I've sat through those and I've even played visual novels and enjoyed them, but I just can't enjoy this.
I can't bring myself to open the game anymore. The visuals are nice and it seems like I could love this game if I enjoyed it, but I don't.
Maybe try it. Maybe don't. Don't expect a game. Except a slow slog of a story with a bit of interactivity. Maybe try it on a sale or something.
However, I still praise the indie devs for the game they made. It is obvious the effort they put into this game and I respect that. Just wish I could enjoy it as well.
this happened to my buddy Eric
Completely disappointed and bored with this game.
Purchased and started playing after I watched a talk about Yarn Spinner - the system behind Night In The Woods dialogs. It is an inspiring talk about the complexity of dialog system in the game.
I regret to say reality is far from what was promised. Rarely the game offers even 2 choices in a dialog, but when it does the difference is miniscule.
Dialogs are set in short chunks. Click again and again to get the next bit of pointless information push.
Along with static postures and non-diverse visuals of the npcs this creates a feeling that I'm pushing a button on a plushie toy with 2 or 3 cycling phrases.
There is no gameplay per se, NitW is about running around and searching for that npc whos dialog would move the game forward. It offers exploration options and "hidden" places that reward you with nothing but same empty comments of the protagonist about places or characters that you don't care about. Because the game hasn't told you why you should care.
I would have to say this is one of my favourite games. The way that this game incorporates great animation, humor, mystery, coming of age, and still addresses tough subject matter is quite genius. Of course not the most technical games, but that's not the point here.
If you are looking for a thrilling mystery with a side of wholesomeness and cool animation this is the game for you!
One of my favorite games all the dialogue feels so natural and the general artwork looks so good
The game is eye pleasing to look at and the game in general has quite a handful of things to do!
Recommend to play this during autumn :)
Gives it an extra layer of good vibes
delightfully spooky. hit me right in the depression. fantastic.
I have many great memories of late nights playing this and I could easily say others should experience those vibes
i actually think about this game every day. every night. a small cat has the best representation of poor mental health despite a normal seeming environment, dissociation, and everything else i have ever felt. i heart this game everyone needs to play
Remarkable storytelling and animation! Absolutely love it!
This game is poetry, I love it so so very much.
Fun and even sad but like fun sad
ONE OF THE BEST its real good lol
it's def worth playing, it made me laugh but also wanna cry bc it's so relatable
Great story! A lot of really heavy themes wrapped up in a simple game play with great illustrations.
i would smash the SHIT out of the main character
GREGG
RULZ
OK
Bangin soundtrack, awesome characters, and if anyone asks, no I definitely did not have to put this game down for three years before I could finish it because it was "too real" to keep playing it right after I came home from college for my mental health. Yep. Totally.
Okay for real though it was worth coming back to after all that time :)
This game is genuinely amazing, from beautiful art, memorable characters, breathtaking soundtrack, and an environment oozing with details and smaller stories/narratives that leaves you feeling like you've never quite discovered everything in a delightfully mysterious way. great reliability.
Most of the negative reviews are from people who for some reason expected a completely different game. Complaining about it being boring even though this is presented an atmospheric dialog driven story heavy game. If that doesn't sound appealing then don't buy it and give it a bad review for not being something it's not designed to be lol.
Love the characters and the story. The artwork for the game is amazing. Overall just really love everything about this game
Finished it once, gonna come back and update this review after ive done a replay and investigate some more untaken paths. Anyways as of now game is 9/10!
Oh my god, if you haven't played this game yet and you're seeing this on your recommended feed, you should totally play it. i absolutely love it, and would recommend it to anyone i know.
this game is about furrys in a forest, I Highly suggest you play it
I play this game every fall, and though it's the same story every time, it feels like coming home.
Possum springs reminds me of my own little town. One that you can bike across in 30 minutes flat. There's not a lot to do here, and everybody seems to be aiming to leave this place. I'm not yet out of high-school, but I am on the cusp of my Senior year. After it's done and gone, I'll be going off to college, presuming that I graduate on time. It feels like I'm standing on the edge of something big and great, yet uncertainty grips me. I'm unsure, I suppose.
I relate to Mae a lot in that regard. Mental health is a big factor for me, and I'm afraid I won't manage to make it through college without homesickness gripping me in the coming years. There will always be someone waiting for me at home, but everyone I'll have known from now and the past few years here will be gone. People from my childhood will move on with their lives. People already are.
And I guess that's apart of it, isn't it? Life moves on, time waits for no-one. People who we think have it all together are one disaster away from splitting themselves apart, and we're all just trying to figure out what to do with ourselves. I haven't figured out what to do with myself yet, but... Strangely, I think that's alright.
This game makes me nostalgic. From it's music, to the small town gossip, and the way I can relate to it all. Mae doesn't know what to do, at 20 years of age, and neither do I, at newly 17. It's dialogue feels real, especially since I too would go and do stupid things with my friends after school, given that we had nothing better to do. We'd do things that were technically illegal and loiter and mess around. The music creates an atmosphere I can't explain, but it's a good one.
All in all, this game has given me bigger perspective into things than I previously had. And it's brought me a lot of joy in replaying it, over and over again. It's nostalgic, and it's more important to me than I think I could explain. Thank you, NITW.
By far my favourite game of all time, like for realsies. The story the characters the atmosphere the setting the music the sound design the little side stories the characters the story the atmosphere the run-on sentencing. Got me through some tough times, made me my happiest, deeply cared for the little funny animals on my screen. Absolute favourite game, 100000/10, would highly recommend!!!
they could add some Mouse and Key control.)
Helped me a lot mentally playing this game.
Absolutely stunning game!! A huge comfort game of mine with excellent characters and an engaging plot. If you're into games that are more plot-focused than gameplay-focused, then this game is for you. :) The dialogue is witty and hilarious, and it all feels very realistic.
It's a nice atmospheric game about returning home from college.
This is a great game with a great story and great characters i would recommend this game to anyone who likes games with a great story and great characters
everything hurts in a good way
I love it. The vibes are amazing. I can't wait to get more into the story.
ow my derealization is being called out
I've played NITW when I was in high school at age 16. I only understood the characters and the story partially, not realising that it would be a story of mine eventually.
Now I'm a 20-year-old uni student and it's so relatable. My friends are doing part-time jobs and whatnot, yet I've barely done anything to make my very own money. Sure, they're doing those for tuition fees and for living, while I don't have to atm, thanks to my parents. In any case, I feel like I'm too green and idk what to do. I mean I do acknowledge what to do but I don't want to. Of course, I'm just being a whinger. Labour is boring and excruciating. Mildly motivated, I'm only studying, playing games, and musing about philosophy like there's no future that I would be working as an employee.
This creeping alienation is almost driving me crazy. Not that I'm doing absolutely nothing, but If I fail, then will my existence be meaningless? Not entirely, I suppose, since Mae is getting by any means...
Anyway, a great game.
This game is so powerful that I took like a 20 minute walk outside at 3am lol
