Hello everyone, I am the ludicrously powerful ninja, G.E.M.Simov, a stealthy goon come to tell you about Ninja Stealth II.

But first, check out my website at: gemsimov.com for more reviews, essays and fiction!

Simple review details - I rank games on an out of 10 basis, granting up to 3 points in 3 categories, as well as a last, single point from my own self, depending on my experience with it.

Gameplay

This is an RPGMaker game. If you know what that means, you know what kind of game it is, and, frankly, there’s very little in the way of gameplay for me to talk about in relation to that. However, you might not know what an RPGMaker game is, so let me get into it.

RPGMaker games tend to be pseudo RPGs - pseudo, due to the fact that the allocation of Stats is nonexistent, there is never a chance for customization of progression - it is always up, there is no horizontal growth - and there is no character creation. This is very surface level, but let me go more in-depth.

Ninja Stealth II is a top-down game, set in a vast number of rooms, which rooms are situated on a square grid. You (the Player) can navigate by using the Arrow Keys, and you also have the opportunity to interact with objects by pressing the Z or Enter key. The Player may also press the X or Escape key to enter the menu, which menu serves as a means of accessing the game’s settings, saving the game, accessing the Player Character’s inventory and ending/exiting the game.

Interestingly enough, this one allows for the use of the Left mouse button - it can be used to click on a tile, after which the PC will walk up to that tile (to the best of his abilities, as some tiles that require turning are very difficult for the pathfinder to deal with). Not only that, but it will interact with the object, if the object is interactable.

In most rooms of the game’s world, one will find enemies - at least one - wandering about. If the PC walks within a certain radius of them, they will start chasing after the PC in an attempt to engage a battle with him.

Battles in Ninja Stealth II take the Player to a different ‘screen’ - it’s better referred to as the battle menu - in which the Player has a number of options, such as ‘fight’ or ‘escape’ (though that is grayed out most of the time, meaning that it isn’t actually an option).

If one chooses to fight, they get the options to:Attack (to do some damage), use an Item (most often something that heals the PC), or Guard (to take less damage when stricken). The way combat works is simple, and in the case of Ninja Stealth FAR too simple, even for an RPGMaker game.

Combat is turn based - first goes the Player’s Character(s) and then goes the Enemy. If the Player has selected the ‘Attack’ option, the PC will attempt to attack the enemy character, with the attack having an almost equal chance of either missing or being a critical strike, after which the Enemy will attack, and then it is the Player’s turn again, during which they can decide what to do, and then it goes on and on, until either the PC loses all its health and dies, or the enemy loses all its health and dies.

Upon the end of a combat encounter, the PC gains experience - which serves to increase one’s level, and when one’s level increases, their stats grow as well, making the PC stronger in combat. There appears to be almost no purpose to leveling in Ninja Stealth II,

A most unpleasant part of playing Ninja Stealth II (I should really just refer to it as ‘this game’ now) is that there is no consequence to defeating an enemy, as leaving and entering the room will just respawn that enemy. That is bothersome, because there’s a lot of backtracking to be done in this game - as in all RPGMaker games, and most JRPGs, too - so the constant assaults performed by the enemies really cut up the gameplay, if it can even be called that…

So what is the game here? Well, this one is more of a puzzle game with a story. The puzzles aren’t very engaging, as most of them boil down to trial and error, and the remainder of them boils down to find the key so you can progress. It almost has that Point&Click Adventure Game feel to it, but the puzzles are sensible in that there’s literally no other options for their solutions other than those that are the solutions.

Then, however, at one point in the game it seems as though it just gives up on the idea of presenting the Player with puzzles, though it then turns out that it is so because of the fact the game is almost over at that point.

In any case, this game is bad. Not just because it is an RPGMaker game (those CAN be decent), but because it’s more of a joke than a real game, OR it could be that it was made by a youthful teen, rather than an adult. In any case, it’s not good. On top of all that, this game has 5000 Steam Achievements. What are you going to do with that many? Around 4995 of them don’t actually require any activity on your (the Player’s) part, you can just turn the game on and wait for an hour until they get added to your account, 1 by 1, slowly, very slowly. Actually, you might need to wait more than an hour.

It COULD be a little amusing, but no. 1/3

Presentation

This, as mentioned, is an RPGMaker game. It does not look too good. It does not sound too good. The only neat thing about it is the battle music - which starts off nicely - and the font in the menus. Everything else is quite underwhelming, even if it is not bad. 1/3

Story

This game HAS a story, unlike the previous game of this developer that I’ve played (Barro), but I don’t think that’s a good thing. It starts off with the Main Character captured by the villain. He goes on to use his urine as a means of destroying some cords (prior to which he breaks a wall with his bare hands) so he can get out of his cell. Why is he imprisoned, rather than dead, I don’t know.

There’s a big, evil villain that shows up through computers, who taunts the Main Character constantly… Even if there’s… There’s nothing to it. He’s just being an evil villain (there is no real conclusion to that).

The Main Character - the Ninja - gets a dog at one point. That dog then dies in an explosion - caused by the Main Character - and the Main Character says, and I quote: “Poor little thing… Anyway…” This is real writing right here. That’s it.

Then, there’s a friendly android who deactivates when the Main Character (MC) deactivates the power source for the baddie. MC then turns the source of power back on and goes on to later blow it up, which makes the friendly android not get deactivated, but every other android does. That’s… That’s some WEIRD dookie.

And the game just ends after that. We WON! Let’s go home, nevermind the fact that you don’t have a home, Mr. or Mrs. Friendly Android! Huzzah!

The story is there, but it’s so bad it’s almost worse than if it wasn’t there! The developers are not native english speakers, but this appears to have been written by people who have never actually engaged with any form of story-telling, OR it’s an elaborate shitpost. Either way, I don’t like it. 0/3

Legendary Point

Does this game get the legendary point, so craved and wanted by all and none at the same time? What kind of question is that, considering the content of this review? No, it does not get the point. 0/1

Conclusion

2/10. Compared to Barro, I am speechless. This is horrible, and I’ve barely any idea how it could have come from the same developer. Don’t play this, don’t buy it, don’t do anything with it. If you want 5000 Achievements, maybe you can get it (on a sale), but don’t. It’s not worth it.

I feel as though hanging it on the Wall of Shame gives it too much recognition, but there it will be. What a horrible thing.

Hmmm ... only did play it for an hour now ... and got bored after about 10 minutes.
Puzzles? ... lame ... and always same.
Fights? ... lame and always same. Click fight, click target , click fight, click target, click fight, click target, click fight, click item, click potion ... click fight, click target , click fight, click target .... for hours.
Enemys? ... lame and always the same ... there is exactly 1 type of them for at least the first 30 rooms.
Interface ... terrible, you have to click 9!!!!!! in words NINE!!!!! times to take a potion and to get back to game.
Sound ... acceptable, but far away from good.
Graphics ... typical RPG Maker, you have seen that a million times before.
Story? ... there is no.
The game has no heart as all.
A Sequel to a not so bad game, which has nothing to do with the original, except of the sprites.
All in all ... even not worth a Dollar!
Ok, it has trading cards ... and as for many games nowadays, thats the only positive aspect I could find.

Stone Ghost
Stone Ghost

It has achievements and trading cards, but lacks proper gameplay. It's an RPG where you can't level up, buy items, find weapons or armour, etc. It has a subpar story and only 1 choice in role-playing. The stealth mechanics aren't perfect or very fun either. The music is comprised of an overworld theme and a battle theme which both get annoying and monotonous very quickly, and they don't suit the game very well. Some elements of the game are buggy, for example, not being able to push a box in all but 1 direction for seemingly no reason. Finding keys to progress is annoying, as if you miss a key, you have to backtrack far to find it.

Overall I give it a 3/10, It could use some work.

You get what you paid for, 5K achievements at minimum price. If you’re an achievement hunter looking to increase the number of achievements on your profile showcase, then I highly recommend buying this. Else don’t waste your money. This is not a game, it’s just a way of distributing achievements.

Of the ninja Stealth series I enjoyed this one the most! Let me just say I like the RPG maker engine (all 3 use it but this doesn't chage it a ton). This feels like a short and sweet RPGame! I liked that a lot! Not too cryptic... I didn't need a walkthrough... I enjoyed it... It was... Dare I say... Fun!

Here are three things I will say to save fellow players some time withut spoiling anytning... Know your binary codes for number up to 10 and check BOTH the trunks and drivers sides of the cars in the parked car room! There are 2 cracked walls... One for each findable charater. One cannot go through both... the game is not broken... Stop trying :) If someone had just told me that my complete time would be at least an hour less!

I can tell you this! The thrid one is an exercize in walking a centemeter and freezing for sometimes 20 seconds at a time per ROOM! I am never going back to that! This I could play again!

I actually enjoyed this game. It was made with RPG Maker, so It's not like Ninja Stealth 1 or 3 and there's barely any stealth elements. However, I did find myself enjoying it. I wasn't sure how long this game was and took a break during it, but was anxious to get back to playing. The game took me about 70 minutes on my first run and about 20-25 minutes on my second. There are puzzles to solve, but the answers for them are a little bit obscure that only 1960's Batman would figure them out. Things like looking for a small shadow to detect a change and knowing or looking up binary code to decipher puzzles. Thankfully, the game maker has a guide out on Steam in case you are having trouble.

There are 2 endings and if you don't save at the right place (before getting to the main computer's power supply), you may have to play the game all over again to get a remaining achievement. Most of the achievements keep getting earned every second you keep the game running, but it will take upwards of nearly 80/90 minutes to get all of them. I believe cards drop at a rate of once every 30 minutes or so, so you will have to have the game running for about 2 hours to get all 4 cards.

As an older gamer, I don't have a lot of time to game and this was a nice, short RPG. You can even get other characters to join your party, however, you get the other characters towards the end of the game. Also, one reviewer said you can't level up. I was able to level up my main character to level 2 on my first run. I'm sure if you keep fighting you can level your characters up even further. But, like I said earlier, this game is very short, so it's not a problem if every character is at experience level 1. There is no need to grind to beat the final boss or any other enemies.

Game is nothing like the first one, made on RPGmaker. He just used the sprites from the first one for the enemies.

Becareful dev will scam you. Also will ban you from hub if you call him out on it.

The second installment for the game...however this is weird: It's got more a gameboy type of gameplay with the keys (which you can't assign). Still the achievements are there and they are plenty.

The only reason I'm recommending this is basically 2 reasons:
1) Achievements for just screwing around in the game
2) It's a break from other online games which can get toxic after a while.

If you have the money to buy this on sale, then do that rather.

It's just a poorly made RPGmaker game. There's nothing that actually makes it an RPG except for the battle system. The puzzles are basic and lackluster, and there's really no variety.

Sorry, I really, REALLY can't recommend this.

This game is clearly for farming 100% games and achivements, but it is absolutely excessive.

5000 Achivements?
I have this game open for an additional half hour just so the achivements can tick to their finish, despite me being done with it already.

Gameplay?
Dang, i have seen LOADS of cheap ass games in my life, but most of them controll better, are in it self more interesting and last but not least, they are more rewarding to play.

After a nights sleep over this one, I still feel like this is a waste, sorry.

Shitty game with poor controls and where combat is just here to waste your time: it's always the same without any progression, enemies respawn as soon as you leave a room and return to it, and drop the exact amount of healing needed to survive a fight with them. You gain "EXP" but you never level up, you can't escape fight but you see the option (always greyed-out). Looks like the author used RPG Maker and didn't even bother to remove/hide the elements he didn't use.

It's OK for $1 I guess, but it's not really as good as the first one.

Ninja Stealth was a neat little puzzle game with its own style. This is a generic RPG-Maker spin off that uses a similar theme but does not really achieve the puzzle quality of the first game. The music is also much more limited, the first one had better music.

At this price I still enjoyed it a little for about an hour, but that's about all it will take to finish. I'm borderline on not recommending this, but it's not terrible at this price.

I personally would recommend this game for the achievements. The game itself is also fun to play, but can become quite frustrating after a while, cause the guards respawn every time you leave and re-enter a room. Just remember to save regularly.

I read a comment of Achievement Scouts which said the following: "Right click on game, properties, then "Set launch options...". Add the command "-AllAchi" without quotes and click OK. Now all 5000 achievements will unlock in a ~2 hour idle." I am unsure whether this actually will work, as the achievements require you to play the levels and collect the collectibles to unlock the achievements, but for those of you struggling with the levels, you can try this out and see if it works.

Overall I think this is a really good game for those achievement hunters out there.

For an RPG, I played for a certain amount of time and managed to gain no level. HPs are therefore the only factor of importance. In fact, it is the only factor to play around with and it remained fixed through the entire time I came to spend with this game. No levelup, no mps, no stat screen beyond level/hps/mps... too simplistic for my taste. Graphics are beautiful, but an RPG has to be rich in stats to play around with and a bit of combat variety and this one fails miserably in both departments...

Its a crappy game that spams you with achievements, which I very much not recommend. I left this on when I went out a few years ago, and came back to see about 2000 achievements unlocked, which made me feel cool back then but now Ive realised my idiocy and I have locked all the achievements that are literally just "+1". crappy game, not recommended. but at least it has trading cards...

Well this "was" a decent-ish game before the cheevo bloat. I already hundo'd it before they added 4990 cheevos. But yeah, like I said in my review for Ninja Stealth, I disagree with meaningless cheevo numbers. It's a hallmark of shady dev practices and such. I may be willing to play bargain bin steam games, but I don't condone willingly messing with Steam stats. That's almost as shady as hacking, and twice as clown suit.

I'd get a refund, but it won't fix my stats, so....yeah. Avoid this like the Plague. Don't even buy it with a 90% coupon.

You could play through it, and while doing so I'll have to admit that I enjoyed it very much. This one on the other hand? Bland, soulless and full of typos!

There isn't much to say, the fact that it's an RPG-maker game that plays like it was made by a 2 year old is enough for me to not dwell on it to much! On to the next one.
