I still have the big box for this game, I bought it when it was new. There was nothing else like it at the time and still isn't really. It's got your usual adventure game stuff, combining weird items etc.... This game totally jives with me, it's weird and funny. The environments are really detailed unlike anything else at the time. The atmosphere rocks
BTW, this version comes with the UK voices, they suck and I highly recommend replacing them with the US voices. It ruins the game.
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
I played this game when it came out, and still got the game, manual and bigbox still.
Allways loved this, even more now cause how close to accurate this game is.
if you dont do as the Normal police says, you will get thrown into jail, and that will happen soonner or later in real life to, cause how f*ked up the world is today.
if your doing something thats not seen as being normal... you going to jail.
10/10 One of the best virtual experiences I have ever witnessed. The motion capture animation is stunning and the realistic 3 dimensional graphics are the best I have ever seen. The challenging puzzle game play compliments the amazing story. The amazing voice acting compliments everything and puts a fancy finish on this wonderful experience.
This game is pretty weird... But fun adventure game in first person view. Controlling the character was clunky and it certainly has a unique 90s style of look (3d cutscenes look pretty ugly though) with okay characters and story. Rarely got stuck and puzzles were pleasant enough. Voice acting is a hit or miss. It was short but worthy experience.
Quite a nice, fun, little first person point and click adventure from 1996. Most puzzles were not too wtf. However, I had to search for a few answers. Also UK voice acting sounds fine. US Kent sounds obnoxious.
Use F9 to save and F10 to load! This game has a lot of good humor. It is sometimes difficult to progress because of the lack of logic to some puzzles. But using a walkthrough-video on youtube solves that when you're frustrated enough. The graphics and controls are horrible though, but you dont play a 30-year old game for graphics. ;)
The most normal game from the 90s. Normal sound, normal gameplay, normal graphics, normal puzzles, normal retro feeling.
No seriously, even if you didn't play it back in 1996, if you like 3d first person perspective adventure games with graphics like duke nukem 3d, then you have have a big reason to buy this pearl. It is funny, crazy, challenging (a bit of the old unfair vibe is also there, but now we have the internet :-D), nice looking and it has plenty of cut scenes.
The Publisher KISS ldt listened to feedback and will try to bring the other language packs back, that seems to be the only complains from people that played it back than. Personally, I played the game in German so any english version is fresh for me and I can't complain so far.
Some glitched are DosBox issues so far, but it's only a short reinitializing of the resolution which makes me wait 1 few seconds longer till I can get into the menue or an item, but I can life with that, after all, I spend time playing a 20 year old game, what are a few seconds for me :-D.
The best point and click game ever!
It's a fun, challenging and time consuming game to play the only downside is there appears to be no obvious way of saving your progress so get the red bull and coffee reading because you'll be in for the long haul with this one.
The name of this game is false advertising. Very little about it, from its alternate-universe mundane-dystopia setting to its Duke Nukem Forever-esque engine's use for an adventure game, is normal.
Most influential game of my life.
They really don't make them like they used to! Imagine buying a game today then looking at the manual through a mirror to read a riddle to work out what the #### to do! It's crazy which is why I love this game.
I was a HUGE fan of this game years ago, could not get enough of Corey Feldmans voice acting. With this release I feel lied to. Sadly, the trailer that steam has playing IS the American version of the game with Corey's voice acting, however what you get when you purchase it is the very dull British version where all of the Norm guards have very thick cockney accents and the main characters voice is some random guy who sounds about as interesting as your history teacher that hates his job. I would request a refund but from what I understand Steam works kind of like Spiderman, you only get one. So this time around I will eat that whopping $4 I spent and be sad and save that refund for another day. I wont dog on them too much though, I LOVE steam to death, just wish they would have been a little more clear on which version they were selling. Sigh.
Wow this game brings me back to my 386Mhz days.
One of the first games I ever played back in the 90's and it's a timeless classic. Sure the graphic's a bit wonky and the controls as well, but the story is great and it's got great elements of controversial humour.
Absolutely recommend it, however not if you're born 00 and haven't played anything point and click-ish before. This game is only recommended for the nostalgia it gives me.

TLDR: Puzzle inventory with Day of Tentacle and City of Fools art styles in some sort of first person primitive engine.
This is a story of some oppressive government, ruled by some strange cyborg, that want to remove all fun from society, and control their thoughts through furniture in some sort of run-down dystopian nineties society.
The bulk of the game is played by applying inventory items to hotspots, sometimes pursuing obscure solutions to obscure puzzles, or downright doing things that seem random or unethical.
You get this kind of counter-culture is cool bart simpson sort of juvenile vibe, reminds me a little of The Quivering. Altogether this game is unwieldy, the DOTT puzzle inventory does not mesh with the cinematics or the first person engine really well.
Conclusion: Avoid. This is dated and just does not hold up very well. Navigating the environment is a chore, characters are mostly surface deep stereotype, the story is handled in a heavy handed caricatural manner. You win by making fireworks in the skies and starting a dance party after rehumanizing the cyborg... somehow... by giving him his brain and the cyborg zap the brains with electricity eyes... just... avoid...
The main character's voice is different from the CD original.
Incredibly interesting and fun adventure game. It uses a unique engine that uses point and click and fps gameplay qualities with a humorous story. Some of the puzzles may not be as obvious but it can be straightforward and is fun to figure out. I would recommend downloading the US voice patch as this is the UK version of the game, that way you can get Corey Feldman as the lead character. Although he overdoes the 90's slacker voice sometimes, its better than the UK version where the lead sounds like a dweeb. Even with the thick cockney accents in the UK version, the game is a blast either way.
Incredible. Breathtaking graphics, incredibly fluid controls, and oh my god Ken is so hot like holy shit I wanna bang Ken Knutson so fucking bad I bet his bussy is so sweet and soft. I just wanna see his Knuts(on) please Ken please please please
When I was a little lad, my friends and I used to spend a lot of time messing around with the "Adventure Maker" point-and-click games creation software. Being a great fans of "Battle Toads" and similar games, expectedly, instead of actually putting some effort and striving to make decent games, we were hell bent on designing the games to be as hard as possible - and not in the "Dark Souls" fair (or even remotely sane) kind of way. The pinnacle of our miraculous puzzles was the sequence where you had to open the toilet tank lid, pick up the pencil, and throw it into the wall fan to open the door. Makes sense? Absolutely not, and every idea we came up with had the same consistent vibe of absolute ludicrousness.
NORMALITY is similar to this children babbling in a way that it's unique and follows its own set of rules which can seem illogical from time to time. However, the in-game logic, whilst being non-orthodox, is very well structured and self-contained, thus, making the game a hidden gem if you manage to get into its way of thinking and appreciate it, and that's where it differs completely from my childhood creations. This game offers an atmospheric vibrant nostalgic world with a lot of 90s references and some entertaining UK humour (luckily, the Steam version has the English voiceover).
In addition, it has great music, the pixel hunting is absent (that horrid nightmare plaguing so many Russian point-and-click adventure games!), and excellent graphics for its time which holds itself brilliantly even today, thanks to the outstanding art-direction.
And it's cheap and runs on every modern (i.e. > 2005 year) PC.
It'd be unnormal not to grab it!
I love this barmy game, and for something that old, the graphics are good. There are no weird puzzles, just odd stories.
A creative and fun game.
Beautiful game, great story. Personally, one of my favourite graphic adventures
FALSE ADVERTISING! The trailer on this page feature the U.S. voice cast with Corey Feldman, but the actual game available is with the original U.K. voice cast.
Since I'm from the U.S. I'm used to the U.S. voice cast and would prefer to play the game with such, if it is at all possible, please add an option to play the U.S. version of "Normality" like you have with "Spy Fox in: Dry Cereal".
I remember playing this when it came out. It was cutting edge back then. It was still fun playing a point and click game in a 3-D environment. The puzzles weren't too hard to figure out and most things made sense. It didn't involve trying to combine a zillion things in order to come up with some illogical invention. I would recommend it to fans of point-and-click games.
While this game is 24 years old now it is still quirky and fun to play in modern times. The graphics were during an interesting time when people were attempting to try out 3D when point and click adventure games were dying out, so it's real dated. I may have just a lot of nostalgia for the game but it's only $3, worth it's hilarious take on a dystopian society where being weird is punished.
Needed to look at the guide here and there, generally less than with other pointnclicks. Some situations seem unwinnable if you just interact with whatever *looking at you oxy-torch*. A lot of it is intuitive enough to figure out on my own. Great humor.
Used desktop controller config for steam controller. Didn't get it to work under ubuntu 19.10 (one of the very few games i didn't manage to get working under steam) but had no issues running on win10.
Really funny classic point and click adventure but, guess what, it's in 3D first person, like if it were Doom or Duke Nukem 3D! For starters, that combination alone makes this game really unique and interesting, but it also is really wacky, funny and creative, in a vibe kind of like Sam and Max or Day of the Tentacle. If you like humorous adventures, you will have a blast for sure with this little gem from mid-90s. I also loved the pre-rendered cinematics in which the characters seem to be animated by some form of early motion capture, which give it a really weird and unique feel.
Amazing classic if you can get past the 1996 graphics.
I never played this game in the 90s, but HOLY nostalgia this gets me right in the feels
normality is a game that has a good story and voodoo dolls
I had this game like 20 years on my shelf and never played it more then for few minutes. I don't know. It is considered a classic but I didn't liked this game. The style of it is way off for me yet I like crazy. There are few good jokes but even when I played it thru I had to force myself to finish it. End/destination is nice, but the journey...
I got this game back in the 90's and played it a lot. I thought I'd give it another go, and it's just as good. The Orwellian overtones are great and the humour still holds up (in my opinion). Just a real nostalgia trip for me. I wish they could sort out the Disc World games as I remember playing them at around the same time and loving them.
revisited this game after playing it when it was originally released. Could not really get in to it this time round, picked the game up quite cheap, however the game has not aged very well at all unfortunately i would not recommend
ClAsSiC MoMeNt BeSt ClAsSic NoIcE
Funniest game I've ever played.
bought this on cd-rom back in the day and played it over and over again. can't find the cd anymore so this was a great find on the steam store... not too happy about the voice pack for this one. but overall this game is always a win. if you haven't played it. it's worth the 3 dollars. Steam needs to get an update with the american voices so we can enjoy the game with Corey Feldman's incredible voice acting on this one.
haha funny man didn't stay normal haha.
Not bad for 1996. I love the "Quit to DOS" button on the menu.
uk voice actors not us version, I'd prefer the performance of corey feldman
Despite the video on the store page, the game you buy has the UK voice actors, this is NOT the US version, which has the MUCH BETTER performance of Corey Feldman for the character of Kent which is what is portrayed in the video on the store page [which is misleading]. However apparently you can patch this to have those sound files, so it has his excellent and much funnier voice performance, there is a post about it in the community here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=657594946
Without that performance, I would NOT recommend this game as that UK performance sucks and misses the mark, but with the patch it is definitely worth it, so in the end I will recommend this game as it is so worth it with an amusing and interesting story line, and Corey Feldman's performance really makes a huge difference here.
Has the UK voices so its sick also just a funny game what can I say
No Corey Feldman as well :)
Remember when jacking cars, we coulda been superstars... Now its too late for you... You switched like B%&*% ....
