A very short and endearing visual novel.

As you learn more about the woman you had a one night stand with, you grow to love her as she talks passionately about her interests, and how much of a sweetheart she is.

The sprites can be inconsistent, but that is forgiven considering how expressive the roto-scoped sprites are (for a low budget indie game, it's really good. The actress/animator does a great job; especially how without words, we can tell how awkward she feels, her sassiness, or the complete despair she feels in one ending).

It does get repetitive trying to unlock the last few endings (but that can easily be solved with a walkthrough if you get stuck).

There's also really nothing to write home about the player character; he's just a placeholder character. In different playthroughs, the player character can range from being a gentlemen to an irredeemable asshole.

Endings range from being very wholesome and heartwarming, to completely soul-crushing.

That being said, this is probably my favourite visual novel I've ever played that's around 2 hours long. 8.0/10.

It's a very simple and short game (each ending might take you, say, 20 minutes or so) with a simple story. I enjoyed playing it but it didn't keep me hooked enough to try and go for all the endings.

Got me thinking about the range of impact the small decisions that I make have. Also, I got to see a (handrawn) girl in her underpants, and that's always a good thing.

One Night Stand is a short visual novel that plonks you into a little slice of life and lets you choose how you react and interact within it.

The slice of life in question is the hazy morning after a wild night out. You wake up in bed next to a stranger with little memory of the previous evening, and through dialogue choices and your willingness to snoop around their room, determine how the next twenty minutes or so play out.

The first thing you'll notice is the art style. It looks hand-drawn and is beautifully animated, with minimal use of colour and an ethereal quality that perfectly captures that fuzzy, almost surreal sensation of waking up with a hangover to daylight pouring in through a window.

The music is similarly minimal, with laid-back, unobtrusive guitar strumming providing a perfect backdrop to the game. Dialogue isn't voiced, but I honestly don't think that detracts from the experience at all.

Gameplay consists of two main parts, conversation, and 'snooping'. While the girl is in the room, you engage in conversation and choose your responses (often punctuated by your own thoughts), and while she's away, you can click on various items to examine them and learn more about the previous night and the girl herself. How nosy you want to be is up to you.

The game is short - a typical playthrough will take about twenty minutes. There are quite a lot of endings however, so replay value is high. This does lead me on to one of two criticisms I have - the game is obviously designed to be played through multiple times (there's even a fast-forward button to quickly skip through dialogue), but after the first few times, it does feel like you're just going through the motions to unlock endings. The second criticism I have is that it's almost impossible to avoid 'snooping' to a certain extent. When the girl leaves the room, her returning is not time-based - it's reliant on you examining a certain number of items in the room. I would have liked the option to simply stay put and wait for her to return, rather than always having to be a nosy git!

My first playthough, when I knew nothing, was fantastic. I enjoyed every moment of it, and both the dialogue and incidental text is very well written. The next few playthroughs were also fun (although I still can't bring myself to choose a particular 'I'm an ***hole' option near the start...), but honestly, I felt the asking price was more than justified for the initial experience. Even if the game cost double what it does, I think I'd have been very happy with my purchase.

If you're a fan of well-written, engrossing games that can be played through in an evening, I'd recommend this. Even at full price, it's an absolute steal.

One Night Stand is something that people would like if they fancy a quick fix. Now I know what you're thinking, I don't mean it like that. If you haven't seen the subtitle and video and scrolled straight to the text, or are feeling dizzy from the aftermath of whatever, then let me enlighten you. Sorry, I couldn't resist a lame joke or two.

One Night Stand is a visual novel developped by Kinmoku. It's got a very strong British feel to the game. It's got British slang and thrown in here and there and the music and the art style just gives me that feeling that this is something that could happen somewhere in my town or across the street from where I live.

You take the role as a male character who is hungover and wakes up next to a naked lady. No idea what's happened or how he got there. Then he gets a text from his friend Gary, who is not very happy because he's apparently ditched his date to see the protagonist only to be left out again. We don't know the details so we can't judge. But the phone dies, and throughout the game we try look around the room for any clues and then we eventually start talking to the girl and replying to questions.

The game is honestly a lot better than it sounds. It's a short game with only a few characters and plots, but it is so well done. I think it's quite a cool game and it makes me think of a lot of the short stories and flash fiction that I've been reading recently. Just a very quick pick me up and go sort of thing.

The objective of the game is down to the player. You can either try and find out what happened that night, or you can try and get the hell out of there as fast as you can. You could try and aim for something more out of the relationship, but there's no real romance. Well, it's to be expected, it was a one night stand. But you can be friends with her in the end, which of course can lead into a future relationship, but that's more for the sequel.

It's one of those games where choices truly matter. If you try to take a naughty picture or try on her knickers, then she's bound to get pissed. I think the female character, Robin is very cool and very realistic. I can relate to her and I like how which each item you have a look at, you get know more about her. She loves to read, loves music, loves her family and those traits are also things you see in a lot of girls in real life too, me included.

So you feel as if you know Robin and feel warped into the game. And this is a sign of a good visual novel. Even when the game has ended, it's left me wanting more. I've managed to unlock all the achievements and endings, including the ones on Steam. I did it all in one day, so if I can do it, I'm sure you can too.

I have to say that the best thing about the game is the graphics. The graphics are just so warm and beautiful. The artwork in the game reminds me a lot of Hotel Dusk with how sketchy it is. I like how it all looks hand drawn and how the art lines move. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if the artwork and sprites actually were hand drawn and coloured digitally. The natural tone is very good. I think it's a really nice and refreshing change. The music's also really nice and soothing. If you choose to investigate the guitar, you'll find that it has a special meaning for Robin.

I like how it uses dialogue instead of gameplay to tell the story. It's something that I feel has been inspired by the Ace Attorney games. I also like the really subtle mysterious and detective tones. Everything just comes together and for the price I paid, I felt as if I got good value for money. I think I would play it again, and I would recommend the game to anyone who wants a gaming quick fix. The average play through of the game can last between five minutes to about half an hour depending on your choices.

Overall it's a very good game. Whilst it is a short game, the characters felt authentic and real and feel like somebody you have met on the street and it's very rare to have that in video games in my opinion. So if you see this game online, get it!

Interesting experience of a One Night Stand, the variety of endings honors the whole story, its quite fun how such a particular situation can turn out to be an great experience to an embarrasing outcome in a stranger’s house.

A cute and surprisingly touching game. I liked how the female seemed realistic, from her polite awkwardness to her reactions to the MC. The game really immerses you into such a situation and you quickly discover that it's harder than you would expect it to be. But that's the charm of this short little game--you stumble through it, just like you would in real life. The payoff, if you do things right, is rewarding though, and you will find the "true end" very sweet like I did. Definitely recommend for one of those lazy days where you want something chill and somewhat different from your run-of-the-mill VNs.

The idea is brilliant and original, the artwork is downright fantastic, but the dialogue… Real people don't talk like that. The writing is straight up from lowest common denominator Japanese dating sims. Not only what the characters say is utterly unconvincing, but the thought processes of the protagonist are spoonfed even when they are obvious from context. Show, don't tell! Come on, writers of dialogue-centric games should be forced to read Stephen King or something.

Also, the gameplay becomes mind-numbingly repetitive pretty quickly. If your game *requires* an option to fast-forward conversations, because you do the same things over and over, there's something wrong going on.

Do you ever have a one night stand experience? No? (Neither do I) If you want to know how it would be then you should try this game.

Normally, I am a fan of Visual Novel games. So I think I should give this game a try and not disappointing. A very decent Visual Novel game, it has a nice story and style. The story may be short but memorable.

The first time playing this game is more enjoyable than after 2-3 times because you have just experienced the game first time.

The only downside is after several tries you kinda getting repetitive and you will feel like a challenge to find other endings. I don't want to feel that way too, but I can't help it. I really want to feel the same way with the story as much as I can.

Finally, It not really the best Visual Novel game, but you should give it a try and the price is not much.

cool game with cool endings
imaginig yourself waking up in a stranger's bed with no memory of the night before, and there are many ways how things will go.. it's like if there are many worlds/ universes and in each one things will be different!

but to be honest, I thought at first that my character was a girl, waking up in another girl's flat.. and that's why I bought the game.. didn't know that my character was a boy lol
but after I found out, I convinced myself to keep playing, and I liked it though :)

Are you just a simple bloke who doesn't do things like one night stand? Or you would like to but you don't have opportunities in your real life since nobody wants to go to the club with you? Do you want to try what comes after doing such thing? Although this game doesn't provide any experience of the one night stand itself, you still may be interested in this multiple-choice game during the afterparty phase in which you can decide whether to confront yourself with reality (meaning the hangover and the girl) or just to run away as fast as possible.

+ afterparty simulator
+ drunk girl
+ might get kicked out of the apartment to the street when not behaving properly....NAKED
+ several endings
+ cheap game when on sale (at least 54482 times cheaper than trying to have one night night stand in real life, and that counts!)
+ might run on the potato
+ simple yet nice graphics

- repetitive conversations (there're some minor changes when you've selected the path you haven't chosen yet but overall it sometimes gets almost boring)
- practically no soundtrack

79/100. Would try virtual one night stand again. NOT A REAL ONE, YOU FOOLS!

I really like this game. It's short, but there's just something... "real" about it. The characters seem to have lifes and personalities outside of the morning it depicts and it generally feels like something that could definitely have happened in this way, like a window into the experiences of two actual people.
Not the type of thing I usually enjoy, but I can definitely tell that a lot of love and effort went into this.

"One Night Stand" was really good. A choose-your-own-adventure affair based around waking up after the titular one night stand.
The writing is good, the art is really nice and suits the subject beautifully and I feel it's perfectly paced.
There are lots of different paths you could take and lots of different endings, what is really nice here is that the developer has got it completely right when it comes to replays; you can choose how the game auto-advances text you've seen, how text advances after choices and so on. I really appreciated the thought that went into that and gave it a few play-throughs as a result.
A lovely game well made.

its a neat little game i would recommend to anyone who like's VN like games. it really does have a nice look to it and I kinda like the little plot twist in the end when u get all the endings. Some of the endings r kinda the same and have a small different add on but not much. The only thing I do wish was that could happen is that there could be a " episode 2 " or more on the way kinda like a add on to the story. But I don't see that happening! :( . still $3 game had a good time

One Night Stand is a really interesting and exciting visual novel, because it stands out from other titles of this genre. You wake up with a hangover in a strange woman's bed and this is probably one of the most unpleasant situations I can imagine. Within one of the possible 12 narrative strands, you can sniff out the private stuff, just think about yourself or try to thaw the ice slowly. I really had a lot of strange feelings and in the end I was sent home by her. Even after the game you stay behind with a strong feeling and think about how you really would have reacted in such a situation. Lie naked in bed and talk to a strange woman about a trash novel? I don't know if I could do that. Besides the game I liked the drawings very much and the setting was so natural. Not beautiful and perfect people, but real figures that authentically convey the situation. If you like visual novels, you should definitely have a look at this title.

You wake up, head throbbing, in a strange flat next to an unknown naked woman. What do you do? What do you say? One Stand Stand is a point & click story game that starts with that premise. You can try to get to know the woman better or sneak out or take a look around. Each game lasts around 30 minutes and your decisions can lead to 12 different endings. However it feels weird to replay the game as you already know so much about this woman from previous run-throughs - it seems unfair (just knowing her name is a spoiler). Still this short and tightly focussed game delivers its story well and never gives the impression of cheating or forcefully directing the player (probably because it is short and focussed). One of the more successful story games I've played and well worth a look if you enjoy this genre.

FYI, you're playing a dude. It doesn't state that anywhere in the description so I thought it was going to be vague about what gender your character is, but nah. It really could have left that open, which I would have preferred but w/e. I wish I liked this game more but the story was lacking. I had all these ideas in my head about what was going on, but there weren't really any questions to answer, despite the game giving you the impression that you had to solve some mystery.

Pretty good, well written but VERY short. Given its small price, replay-ability and the fact its another one person team game (I think)... I think its worth your time to try it. Its only 3 bucks and it helps a decent writer, why the hell not?!

Concept: Dealing with the aftermath of the title. (As seen on Markiplier, from Youtube. Where I learned of this.)

Likes: (Above) Again, well written and you can make PC into a guy who is a decent sort or a total chav/scrub. Some good humor and main girl reacts like a real person would rather than an anime VN girl.

I am probably older than most of the people who will play this game. I have seen and lived in the real world. I have experienced many of these situations in my life. I can tell you for a fact all the outcomes come out all wrong. This must have been written by a jaded, ugly girl who has no context of the real world. Epic fail!

And yeah... after only .6 hours of the game I have seen most of the outcomes. The game does not provide value equal to the costs.

One Night Stand is...actually pretty neat. It's visually unique, well-written, and engaging. It's very short and takes some level of attention to "get" what some of the important details are, but it also takes into account what kind of person you want to be in the situation.

My only small gripe is that there's a bit of pixel-searching to be done in some spots. An odd complaint from me, since I grew up playing and loving games like that.

DO NOT BUY, this is not a game. It´s a demo that was launched once they figured out the game wasn´t going to be completed, at least that´s what it feels like.

PROS
-Nice art
-Several mysteries

CONS
-90% of mysteries have no answer or storyline at all.
-Most decisions don´t affect the outcome nor have any effect on the storyline AT ALL.
-There are really 3 endings with variations.
- Repetetive
-After your first gameplay you´ll feel there is a lot to uncover, but soon you will realize that there is basically one story being repeated over and over again.

It´s not worth 5 bucks. You´ll encourage indie developers to sell demo´s not even betas or early access.

To start, for us pervs who care: this is tagged as "nudity". I'm at 96%, with all endings accomplished, and no, no nudity.

That said, I very much enjoyed this game. I don't often write reviews, but I enjoyed this game so much that I am compelled to write one. This is one of those thought-provoking games; in a realm that has so much potential, but is rarely explored beyond things like harem h-game situations, this game goes in a different direction. This game is an exploration of the benefits and consequences of trying to choose a desired outcome, and then accomplish that outcome, entirely from a place of literal blackout ignorance. I like very much that it (clearly intentionally) leaves many questions unanswered, but does so in that very clever way that leaves the player wanting more. But at the same time, the downside is that I'm left....wanting more! I fully appreciate the situation where the answers to those unanswered questions would probably not be as interesting as the possibilities I consider as I ponder the situation. I can live with that. At the same time, I do feel as though this sort of game deserves some tiny modicum of "fanservice", where there is just one ending that allows the two to sleep off their hangovers and go for "round 2", regardless of what they could or couldn't remember about their initial hookup. There is not even an opportunity for a path where you as the protagonist attempts to be romantic/seductive. You spend the entire time being interogative, until the last moment where you get the chance to arbitrarily declare feelings, with no justification, and it is entirely understandable when that gambit fails completely. I do appreciate the almost nod of the fact that regardless of your choices, if you attempt to talk about yourself, you are blocked. I get the joke there. At the same time, that does not make it any less unsatisfying.

Especially at it's price-point, this was a fun exploration, and worth every penny. But if there was just a little more of a payoff, then I would've been every bit as satisfied if I was made to spend two or three times as much for the game.

* You like visual novel
* It's on sale (not worth full price I think)

Should not buy if:
* Not on sale
* You expect longer visual novel

this isn't the longest visual novel ever developed but it's a 3 dollar game (or a dollar on sale which i think it goes on sale pretty frequently) and you get a pretty decent amount of game time for it. it has a really interesting story and it has multiple endings. if you like visual novels and you want to play one with an interesting art style, pick it up right now. do it

Got all 12 possible endings. I had a good time playing this VN. I liked the simple artstyle of it. The mystery was intriguing on the first few playthroughs but it wears off after repeating so many times.

What About It? Eh? Didn't expect this to be a choice matter type of game...o.O Being a pretty conservative Asian, "one night stand" is a foreign concept for me, lol. Good to know! ^o^ Gameplay is just very simple point and click, good game to kill time, especially if you're stuck somewhere with a crappy laptop.

100% Achievement? Yes, good easy guide available.

Children Friendly? Ugh, what's wrong with you?! Tsk tsk.... bad parenting!

I read a lot of visual novels and specifically enjoy games like this one a lot, but One Night Stand didn't click with me. ONS is one of those VN games that can be beaten in about 5-10 minutes, but gives the player a lot of choices so multiple playthroughs are encouraged

Sadly, I just felt like there wasn't much content and after 2-3 playthroughs, it felt like 85% was skipping stuff I'd seen before and 15% was new interactions. The game basically has a few different moments that the player has to arrive at, with choices changing things in between those moments so the whole thing gets repetitive fast. It also didn't help that skipping text just felt kinda sluggish and I think the game was freezing up slightly? There's 27 achievements so there's a lot of replaying and it was just a bit a tedious, to be honest

My other issue is that the game doesn't really know what it wants to do? For example, there's a really interesting brief plot point where you find out the girl has two IDs with two different names but this seemingly goes nowhere and you cannot learn anything about it? All that can happen is, the girl will get mad and kick you out if you bring it up so I just don't really see the point of it being included (which is a shame because I actually felt very invested in this mystery). There also doesn't seem to be any opportunities to find out why the girl is sick either so it feels like not much is explored at all

I would very much recommend any game by Angela He if you're looking for something like this

solid game, easy 100%. solid story if you into this style of story. 10 girls who leave me with abandonment issues out of 10

If there's a failing in this game it's that it doesn't build it's world out far enough. That's not unexpected in this type of game at this price point. But since it has both stylistic flair and some intriguing plot undertones one is left wanting more even if you see the game through to its better endings. Nearing it's sixth year anniversary it is my hope that Kinmoku will consider coming back to this creation and consider releasing a redux (or maybe even a sequel?) that offers players the opportunity to explore minor mysteries that are dropped unceremoniously by our accidental lover. Nearly six years later this first time player is still interested.

Very shallow and uninspired story. And the only character you can interact with gives you no good reason to want to know her better. She is just as insipid as the "plot".

Even if you decide to keep going after first or second playthrough for the achievements, it feels like a chore as the skip mechanic is kinda slow and most of the time of new runs will be spent skipping text you've seen before. Engine simply isn't very good at doing it.

Absolutely loved this game. Took me two hours to get all the achievements and endings. Which is the experience i recommend if you're getting this game.

It's your typical visual novel, with a charming artstyle and a clever and realistic approach in it's writing except for when it's not supposed to be.
