This game is a love letter for fans of the PAC-MAN franchise like me, it includes 14 games and a few gems, such as: PAC-MAN Arrangement (Arcade + Console version), Pac-In-Time, PAC-ATTACK, Pac N' Roll Remix, and so much more. Hopefully the next Namco Museum has a game like this, and instead of being PAC-MAN, you can choose characters like Taizo Hori (Dig Dug), BravoMan, Mappy, etc. Or a custom character, and maybe some quests like Scoring 30000 points in Dig Dug to get a Dig Dug 2 cabinet, or, get 3 Perfects in a row on a challenging stage in Galaga to unlock Galaxian and Gaplus, anyways, I love this game, very addictive and very fun to play, especially with friends, hopefully Namco and Bandai give us more games like this. Thank You, Bamco, We love you.

Pac-Man game compilations aren't in short supply, but the customizable arcade and its accompanying list of goals to unlock decor and music (along with a generous mid-game save feature) provided enough reason for me to go through and complete it. The games all run well bar a lack of VSync and the majority of them are fun. I can start up just about any game in this collection and have a good time.

Good but flawed collection. First, I'll go over the collection as a whole, then I'll give my thoughts on each game.
The emulation is fine I guess, I'm annoyed that the games aren't scaled with nearest neighbor, which means that pixels are blurry instead of sharp. That can also cause shimmer, most noticable on text. Pac-Mania is very blurry for whatever reason, almost like it has a bilinear filter over it. There are also missions for each game, but instead of being used for interesting ways to play (for example, beat a maze while leaving the power pellets for last) it's all "kill X amount of ghosts", "Beat X levels without getting a game over", etc. They're extremly easy at best and awfully grindy at worst. There's also noticable input delay, I was able to adjust quickly, but I know those couple frames could be a deal breaker for some. There's also the elephant in the room, there's no Ms. Pac-Man. That's because of copyright reasons. What's really shitty is that Ms. Pac-Man was also cut out from the games that had her, replacing her with Pac-Mom, who looks like a bootleg character.

-Pac-Man (1980)
Classic Pac-Man, not much to say about it. An absolute classic
-Super Pac-Man (1982)

Imagine Pac-Man, but there aren't any dots, you have to collect all fruit, and you have to collect keys to open doors. You can also turn giant to run over ghosts, it's fun but repetitive.

-Pac & Pal (1983)
Flip over cards to open doors to unlock fruit. There's also Miru, the titular pal, who can't hurt you but will collect fruit which you can grab from her before she returns to the ghost only zone. I find this game pretty frustrating because of her.

-Pac-Land (1984)
A 2D platformer predating Super Mario Bros, the controls are pretty shit but aside from that I think it's pretty fun.

-Pac-Mania (1987)
Imagine Pac-Man, but in Cavalier perspective (Cavalier is like isometric but not quite), and you can jump over ghosts. Starts out slow, and not that interesting.

-Pac-Attack (1993)
Tetris but with trominos instead of tetrominos, and some blocks are replaced with blocks, and every once in a while a pac-man will replace one of them and will eat every ghost until it gets stuck and dies. Pretty decent.

-Pac-In-Time (1995)
This game blows, it's a reskin of an unrelated 2D platformer, and it's extremly frustrating. The only decent thing is the worms-like rope swinging, but it gets very frustrating with the awful physics.

-Pac-Man Arrangement (Arcade) (1996)
One of my favorites, basically Pac-Man 2. Features some interesting stage gimmicks but I wish there were more of them. Also, they used the japanese rom so the new 5th ghost isn't named "Kinky" like in the normal english version, lame.

-Pac-Man Arrangement (Console) (2005)
Partially a remake of the arcade version, partially a new game because of the new gimmicks and bosses. Slower and less fun than the arcade version.

-Pac-Man Championship Edition (2007)
Not to be confused with the far superior Championship Edition DX+, a faster version of the original pac-man where collecting all dots on the left or right side of the map spawns a fruit that spawns a new half of the level in its place. Doesn't feature the ghost chain following you, that was only in DX+

-Pac Motos (2007)
A reskin of the arcade game Motos, featuring pac-man characters and power ups. Not that fun but useful for grinding the awful collect 7650 coins and play 765 rounds achievements.

-Pac'n Roll Remix (2007)
A remaster of the DS game Pac'n Roll, replaces the last world with a new one, is missing some bonus content and doesn't have any story. Pretty decent.

-Pac-Man Battle Royale (2011)
A PVP version of Pac-Man. Pretty fun, but they should have included multiplayer, without it it's pretty lame.

-Pac-Man 256
You can really tell this was a mobile game, because everything costs way too many coins which you probably would have paid for in the mobile version. It's a never ending game of Pac-Man where you constantly have to run away from the 256 glitch. Pretty fun, but the extremly grindy missions (seriously, max out 10 powerups? it costs 4080 coins to fully power up ONE) make me never want to touch this game again.

Overall, decent collection but if you have a voice in your head that screams at you if you don't 100% complete a game then don't get this because it's a grindfest.

great collection of emulated arcade versions, obscure titles, etc. the customizable arcade is a great motivator to try the less popular games or go for achievements -- a cute and welcome feature overall. it really would have been made perfect with the inclusion of Ms. Pac-Man, CE 2 and the Namco Museum demake of CE1.

regardless, this is probably the best way to get your Pac-Man fix on steam. buy it so they make more Pac-Man games, i want to play them.

And honestly wish it had more Pac Man games to choose from.

i like having this game because it's convenient and puts a lot of really good games in one place + now all of my friends know when i'm playing my game of the year every year pac-mania. but simply put these are not good ports and i'd sooner recommend taking the piss and using emulators. namco has really fallen off in terms of museum collections lately and while this one looked promising it's a buggy laggy hard to look at mess

If you're scrolling through reviews to see how's the input lag, as of 31 of August 2022 I didn't notice much input lag, the games felt responsive. Just to be sure I went and used Special K to get rid whatever input lag there could be tho, but it more or less felt as responsive.

Unity... oh Unity. Do I really need to elaborate?

Gamepad support is utter garbage without zero analog compensation; If you're not pushing exactly one of the four directions, your input doesn't count. On top of this, unbelievable input delay even using a keyboard. Pac-Mania is blurry, Pac-Man Arrangement performs worse than on Namco Museum for Gamecube... It's all over the place.

Is this an excellent collection? Yes, but is it playable? Definitely not.

Please just emulate the originals on Mame or buy a superior older compilation disc.

Pac-Man Museum+ is absolutely a brilliant game to get, if you're looking to get stuck into Pac-Man then there really isn't many better options.
The only downside is the original at least has Ms.Pac-Man as DLC, please we miss Pac-Man's wife.

Solid collection of many games throughout Pac-Man's history. There are some exclusions such as Ms. Pac-Man and some games that could see a return such as Pac-Man: Adventures in Time. Nonetheless, the games present here all have their place and offer a variety of experiences, from the old to new.

All the games in my experience run and play well, there's some input lag issues in games such as Pac-Land and Pac-Man: Championship Edition, but for the most part the games play well. Games are played in their correction aspect ratios, controls work fine on most games, and all the arcade games are their actual arcade versions.

The addition of the Arcade adds a lot of charm to the collection, being able to decorate your own Arcade room however you wish. You start off with a basic room, but you can earn more decorations by completing missions in the games, which can include missions such as eating a set number of ghosts or completing a certain level. These missions can earn you rewards to use in the Arcade room such as new decorations, more arcade cabinets, and background music to play.

As you play games, you can earn coins to use in the Arcade. The amount of coins you can earn from the games can depend on your performance in a game session, mainly your high score for most games. Normally you would use these coins to insert them into the arcade games such as the original Pac-Man (like a real arcade), but you can also use these coins to buy more decorations from the Vending Machine and figures from the Gashapon. Figures in the Gashapon can consist of characters and items, including the fruits and the ghosts. These figures can also come in silver or gold, though they are rarer to obtain.

Pac-Man: Museum+ is a nice collection of Pac-Man games at an affordable price, it is a nice way to get back into Pac-Man and explore some of his familiar and even unknown titles over the years. It has a nice amount of replay value and getting better at Pac-Man is always a fun time. Looking forward to Pac-Man World Re-Pac!

As someome who only had passing knowledge of Pac-Man's more esoteric games, I can say with certainty that I am happy to have purchased this collection. There is a lot of fun to be had in most titles, the missions system adds a lot to the experience, and the customizatiom of the arcade hub is a lot of fun, even if it is a little too cramped. Worth it.

If Namco Museum is a love letter to Bandai Namco's arcade games, Pac-Man Museum+ is the letter with a free buffet meal coupon for Pac-Man. There's a bunch of cool games included, such as the swingin' Pac-In-Time and not one but two editions of Pac-Man Arrangement! A small number of these games are initially locked, but it's as simple as playing the available ones.
There's also a customizable hub area in the vein of Animal Crossing; you can press a button to redistribute and repaint this area with the resources you have. Getting more decorations isn't too hard, and you have a few ways to do so.
Some people may be dissatisfied with the lack of Pac-Man World games or even a specific female Pac-Person, but you have to consider everything we've got right now. And it's more than I could've asked for!
Also, writing this review made me hungry for cherries.

There is no way to play the games that require coins. It says to press the insert key but there's no key like that on a laptop keyboard. You can't customize that key either, you can only change the move keys. Insert key can only stay as the insert key. So all you can really play is the ones that don't require coins.

William Shakesman

It plays well and includes original Pac-Man CE, Pac-Man Arrangement (Both versions), Pac-Man 256 (Also on Steam as a separate product but sorry Pac-Bros you're probably gonna be double dipping on that one. No discounts.), Pac-Man Battle Royale, and Pac-And-Roll. There's also a lot of complete garbage games (Imagine playing Pac-Mania for more than 10 minutes) but it's still an excellent collection of some of the absolute highest points of Pac-Man's history that would require several different emulators otherwise to jerry-rig if you wanted them all otherwise.

Pac-Man is still relevant today not because of Namco's careful stewardship of the brand (Pffft) but because the original game was solid and works really well, and the games on tap here offer you a wide array of good (And terrible) extensions of it. This package does the franchise justice and, if you have a taste for retro arcade games but have only a passing familiarity with Pac-Man, this is a great way to pick it up. For seasoned Pac-Man fans, this is a collection of a bunch of games we FINALLY have easy access to.

But no Ms. Pac-Man sadly.

Brief per game reviews:
Pac-Man: The OG. Needs no intro
Pac n Pal: A cute take on the original Pac-Man with less dot eating and more maze running
Pac-Land: Utterly horrific.
Pac-Mania: A completely soporific take on the OG. Only worthwhile for the unlocking the rocking Genesis style midi music for the in-game jukebox and curing insomnia. World 2 is one of the best themes you can turn on in the in-game jukebox if you want to avoid a thousand different terrible waka-waka remixes.
Pac Attack: There are people nostalgic for and porting/emulating Cleopatra's Revenge competitively. I only say that because block falling puzzlers of all sorts that you've never heard of can have a niche crowd, but one does not exist for this turd and one never ever will.
Pac in Time: Reminds me of the era of the Home Improvement SNES game with terrible greased platformer physics. Intolerable unless you are a kid growing up with this crap.
Pac n Roll: There's a reason you've never played this time-wasting Monkey Ball wannabe. The art is really nice though.
Pac Motos: A Kirby style minigame with the great Pac n Roll assets so it's decent fun as an add-on to this collection.
Pac Man Battle Royale: This is really only worthwhile playing with friends and probably still only worthwhile if all your friends are drunk and cooling down from playing heavier games at Dave and Busters but you're gonna have to play this crap solo if you want unlocks.
Pac Man Arrangement: A extremely good effort at making Pac-Man into a traditional game while still keeping the core of Pac-Man. The arcade version is definitely nicer to look at; the console version has been given a nauseating face-lift meant to appeal to some manager's imagined version of pill-popping kids.
Pac Man Championship Edition: From the XBLA era, so it's glowy dark and neon, but it is one of the finest iterations of the OG Pac-Man formula refined for really satisfying score chasing.
Pac Man 256: I have reviewed this on Steam as well but the main point is this may be a mobile game endless runner with Pac-Man flavoring but it is TRULY excellent at capturing what makes Pac-Man good in that context designed by actual gamers who make actual games, here with the mobile grind removed of course. Don't sleep on this one.

This is the best implementation of an arcade hub that you can walk around and interact with. It's also the most thoughtful repackaging of Pac-Man yet. This needs to succeed, because I don't want to have to buy another iteration of the same games in 2023. I will, because I'm dumb, but I don't want to have to.

I was highly anticipating the release of PAC-MAN MUSEUM+ since its initial announcement in November 2021, and I'm happy with the game as a whole. While Ms. Pac-Man is (understandably) absent, every other game that HAD to be here is featured here. The inclusion of PAC-MAN ARRANGEMENT's arcade version is most certainly the most exciting addition here to me and it plays great. However, some of the earlier games do have input lag issues. I never had any obvious issues with PAC-MANIA or PAC & PAL but sometimes it would take a millisecond too long to register a turn with SUPER PAC-MAN and PAC-MAN. I assume Namco is aware of this at this point because it is the number one complaint I am seeing related to this game.

The coin system, which you use to play all games that were originally released in Arcades, is, admittedly, dumb. You get coins depending on how you do while play any game, which makes it basically impossible to lose coins if you don't buy any customization stuff, which begs the question of why you even need coins for the first place. You can also use coins to buy things to customize your arcade, a very noble idea which I hope future Namco Museums and game compilations take note of, albeit more fleshed out. I believe the coin system would be better if it was only used for buying stuff for your arcade.

I do hope this game does get DLC in some form. The original PAC-MAN MUSEUM in 2014 featured Ms. Pac-Man as DLC, and I hope they can come to an agreement with AtGames or whoever to make that happen with Plus as it is admittedly a very, very glaring omission. Another, not so glaring omission (although still weird it isn't here) is PAC-MAN WORLD, which, to a degree I understand why it wasn't included. It isn't super big in Japan and most people only played the sequel, which is a PS2 game and harder to emulate. However, I think if they are going to put absolute garbage in this collection like PAC-IN-TIME, I think putting the first PAC MAN WORLD in as DLC wouldn't hurt. Also, if you're gonna go out of your way to, again, put absolute garbage in this collection like PAC-IN-TIME, PAC-MAN 2: The New Adventures should have also been added due to it's similarly bad status and the game's box art. Go in all the way or don't at all, Namco. You shouldn't cower in the face of infamy.

At the end of the day however, Ms. Pac-Man or not the game is $20 and it has both PAC-MAN CE and the arcade version of PAC-MAN ARRANGEMENT. It's probably the best deal for a game collection I've seen in a long time. If you want Namco to care about PAC-MAN again this is the best game to show them that this little guy has an audience.

Bad V Sync.
Controls miss inputs even on wired controllers.
Missing some of the newer championship edition titles.
Museum feature is a bit pointless, along with the coin system to play games.
Missing some interesting titles for a museum. Having the older Atari versions would have been interesting.

A great collection of games, a cool hub you can access everything in you can decorate to your hearts content (though i do wish it were bigger...)

best of all, credits can be earned in-game just by playing.all the non-arcade titles have their own dedicated machine that you can use to endlessly farm them from.

my only wish is that there could have been more games to it. pac-man 2 the new adventures wouldve been great, as would the pac-man world games. but what's here is rock solid.

This game was kinda just announced out of nowhere, and I'm a little surprised to see little people talking about it.

Pac-Man Museum+ reminds me of the Pac-Man Museum game that used to be on Steam, but was taken off, likely due to the unsuccessful Ghostly Adventures brand slapped onto it.

Well this game is very much the style of Pac-Man I like. It has a number of old and obscure games that make for a fun package. It isn't the best collection ever or anything, but it's solid for what you get. The 14 games offered are decent picks, ranging from arcade games that are both popular and underrated to the popular mobile game that is Pac-Man 256 (though this collection thankfully includes the console re-release), and fascinating console releases like Pac-In-Time, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Pac-Motos, and Pac-In-Roll Remix. Glad that they brought in some of the 3D stuff too.

They play as you'd expect, though as a user of VSync, I did have to manually mess with graphics settings outside of the game, since while this game does have graphics options, they only apply to the game's arcade hub and not the games themselves. But other than having to boot up NVIDIA Control Panel for this one, the emulation quality of the games are fine.

The arcade customizer is pretty cool, I sort of wish there were more things to do with it like increase the size of the arcade or interact with some of the furniture and objects you get, but it's a pretty neat system nonetheless. There's also some neat figures and other collectibles you can collect for the arcade by spending tokens in a machine, they pull from lots of various Pac-Man media, so it's pretty fascinating. It would have been pretty cool to have some sort of online functionality where you can visit other people's arcade online or even play the games in VR inside your arcade, but oh well.

If you like the games offered here, you'll likely enjoy this collection, it's pretty odd to see that Pac-Man 256 is here despite being a fully released $5 game on Steam separately, so that version is pretty obsolete now, but it's nice to have.

I'd say buy it if you wanna see more Pac-Man games in the future, it's a solid collection that thankfully isn't too expensive. Hopefully good sales of this will lead to new Pac-Man games, or a collection of the Pac-Man World games, which is what I personally really want. So... get it if you're interested, it's pretty good.

Melv

Great line-up of games, but sadly doesn't have Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures for the Nintendo SNES (1994)...

But jokes aside though, this isn't some half-assed game collection that you'd normally see from companies that try to make a quick buck from it's own IP. This was clearly made with a ton of love and passion for the yellow gumball and has tons of cool unlockables for your own costumizable museum/mancave.

Now all we need is a Pac-Man World trilogy and I think he will be truly Bac-Man.

PacMania67
PacMania67

I don't have a whole lot to say. It's better than PAC-MAN MUSEUM, that's for certain. You get significantly more bang for your buck in terms of games & content. You get both PAC-MAN ARRANGEMENT games, which I feel is the biggest win.

1st negative thing is that Pac-Baby, Pac-Jr, and Ms. Pac-Man are no where to be seen, likely cause of the whole AtGames situation. I'm hoping those characters (and their games too), will appear as DLC.

2nd negative is that emulation (from what I've played so far regarding the arcade games) is a bit wonky with mostly audio. Pac-Mania looked a little odd when completing the maze, but it might be a either a cause of Vsync or something else.

Speaking of DLC, I hope we get to see more games added, if it doesn't result in too much trouble

There might be other PAC-MAN games I'm unaware of but I feel this is good

A bit surprised Namco didn't offer a deal on the game if you bought the original PAC-MAN Museum like what The Stanley Parable did for a short time. Would've sweetened the deal a good bit, as the original game is no longer on sale.

If you've already bought the first museum, I'd suggest getting it if you want an official way of playing the arcade version of Pac-Man Arrangement. For $20, it's great. Just needs a bit more content and I'd say it's practically golden.

If you're even remotely interested in PAC-MAN, this is the collection for you. It blows the old PAC-MAN MUSEUM out of the water in terms of quality of the ports and presentation. I've read about screen tearing issues, but I'm not noticing any tearing with just the default settings.

Joru
Joru

This is the best pac man game compilation which is drastically better than the first pac man museum from 2014. The presentation is so much better as well as the amount of games included and overall selection. Thats where the pros stop. Overall I am dissapointed with this game considering I am a huge pac man fan and have been looking forward to this game for years (before it was even announced).

The problem with pac man museum is bad audio in the emulation for a couple of games that is really bad to hear and problem with the versions of games being used.. For example, Pac Man has bad audio emulation, the pac dots dont register sound like the original nor do the ghosts when turned blue. How do you mess this up? You got it perfectly on Namco museum for switch years ago, how do you mess it up now?

Pac man arrangement console version, the pac dots are extremely loud and raspy, thats not how it was in the original. Why was it released in this state? When I saw the credits for this game I laughed when they passed by the quality control section, it was filled with names, how did so many people not notice the bad audio for multiple of the games?

Finally, the HUGE letdown, the reason as to why this game will die fast like every other namco museum in history:

NO ONLINE MULTIPLAYER

w h y ? Its 2022 and you did not add online multiplayer to a game where you boast about it having 5 multiplayer games, including one big multiplayer game like pac man battle royale.

This is what they say in the listing for this game:

"• Play with friends and family
Includes 5 titles that can be played WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN LOCAL MULTIPLAYER MODE! There are even games for two players to take turns, so everyone gets to enjoy PAC-MAN together!"

Why the hell do they sound so proud? My family does not give a damn about pac man and my friends are nowhere near me. Why do they honestly think local multiplayer is a viable option for playing with others especially during covid times?

I dont care if servers cost money, they have money they will make money and its their job to figure it out. They would probably make more money and guaranteed increase longevity of this game if they added online multiplayer and then paid dlc for people to buy and be happy with because people are logging on daily to play with others and people want to show off their cosmetics.

You could have done a cool thing where you can make a lobby and have people come into your arcade as pac man using cosmetics they bought to run around your decorated arcade and play games together. That would give incentive to make new cosmetics for the arcade and pac man himself and reason to even decorate it in the first place. You could have branched out from pac man and made this the definitive namco museum with online and reason to play every day. You could have done something completely amazing and yet you didnt.

All you have is online leaderboards, like always.

Also why is pac in time the japanese version? And why is pac attack the snes version? The ps1 version is an upgraded version and could even be unlocked for free on pac man world 2 on the freakin gamecube. And the ps1 version was only ported THAT ONE TIME. The snes version is everywhere!!!! Why are you so disappointing namco? Why are you so disappointing namco? Why are you so disappointing namco? Why can't you do anything right ever with pac man?????????????????????????????????????????????

Great collection of Pac-Man titles, even some of the more obscure ones are here. There's a nice even spread between both classic and modern titles, so there is definitely something in here for everyone. If you're feeling creative, you can customize your arcade however you see fit with a bunch of collectibles.

I do think there were some missed opportunities here though...

1) Everything in the arcade feels static. You can't really interact with anything, so any choices you make to your arcade will be strictly aesthetic. Even the ghosts who visit your arcade don't interact with anything, they just float around aimlessly.
2) They could've done some interesting multiplayer here. The ability to share and visit other people's arcades to initiate 2-player+ modes would've been really cool, but sadly there is no online multiplayer.

Overall, I would say this is worth it strictly for the game collection. The arcade hub and customization are nice touches, but not selling points.

Let me start out by saying, this is a really really good retro Pac-Man collection game. It's awesome to see Pac in Time and Pac-Man arrangement get some love, and always good to see Pac-Land back again as well as Pac-Man Battle Royal. The arcade customization is nifty; with figurines and decorations to make it look just like how you wanted that basement arcade full of Pac-Man games to look. That being said though, I really wish they had more options here, Pac-Man World isn't here and I hope they add it in DLC at least. Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Man Jr., And Pac-Man Plus are also absent here and I can't fathom why. But if you're a fan of Pac-Man It's not a bad way to waste a few hours.

Amazing collection of old games from previous collections (glad to see pac n roll and pac motos back) but overall not the best experience

Firstly, the audio has some issues, like every song playing all at once while in the arcade (might be a bug) and the games not letting you change audio settings individually but instead being left to one entire volume bar that you cant access while in the games.

Controller support also was a bit of an issue, since even though I played on an xbox controller i couldn't access the pause menu without having to use my keyboard, this might just be me not configuring it correctly though

The games themselves work fine, and again there is a great selection, but there isn't anything new besides some useless achievements and the customizable arcade that's used as a game select screen. The Customization on the arcade and unlocking items for it might be a fun bonus incentive for some, but it wasn't for me.

Overall I wouldn't recommend it if you already own museum remix or have played these games in the past, but if you're new to some of these games, I'd still suggest waiting until it goes on sale

It sure does play Pac-Man. Although, Pac-in-Time sucks really bad. That game is not fun. But it needs to be played twice to unlock Pac-Attack. Simply playing it twice will not unlock this though. You need to game over twice. Which is extremely tedious. That is my only complaint, besides the lack of Ms. Pac-Man because of AtGames. Fuck them.

First off, this is excellent on Steam Deck. I'm pretty particular about Pac-Man / Namco collections and while I do have some small gripes here and there, this is probably the best and most complete Pac-Man release yet with an incredible level of care put in and some truly obscure cuts along with the hits you love.

The glaring omission many will note is the absence of Ms. Pac-Man which isn't really this collection's fault, there's some legal weirdness going on with the character and game, and there is a current Ms. Pac-Man release on Steam under the "Arcade Game Series" banner that also works well on the Deck if you want the whole Pac-Family in your Steam library. I do hope they'll cut a deal to release it as a DLC like they did with the 2014 Pac-Man museum, but I don't mind switching over either.

That said, they more than make up for it by including the real version of Pac-Man Arrangement which has long been a fan-favorite but was last included in the PS2 era Namco Museum. The 2014 Pac-Man Musem had a different game also called Pac-Man Arrangement which is enjoyable in its own right (and is also included here) but that version is a bit slow and easy, real Pac-Fans know the 1997 Arrangement is the real deal and it's here in its full glory.

Emulation quality seems pretty decent, there does appear to be a bit of a bilinear filter applied to most of the arcade games, but it's very mild and most of them still look fairly sharp even if it's not razor-crisp like I usually prefer. The only game that looks straight-up bad is Pac-Mania which is noticeably much blurrier than the other games and that's an issue I seem to recall with the 2014 Pac-Man Musem as well, so I'm not sure what the deal with that game is. Personally I wish they would let you choose the scaling filter you want to use, but the release is mostly fine. Purists should know that some of the games have had Ms. Pac-Man's sprite altered into a new design because of the lawsuits which is noticeable in both Pac-Land and Pac-in-Time but otherwise I think these are as accurate of releases as can be done given the circumstances.

Also included are several more modern Pac-Man games, some of which are newer arcade games, some were made and remixed for earlier Namco/Pac-Man museum titles, and others such as Pac-Man Championship Edition and Pac-Man 256 had full-blown home releases (256 is even still available as a standalone here on Steam!). These all play how they should and add a lot of value, putting in some of the more exclusive or otherwise hard-to-get titles that are nonetheless part of the character's more recent history.

Rounding out the package is the hub world and progression system. Certain games have to be unlocked by playing other games twice, and simply opening and closing the game like in Sonic Mega Collection+ won't do. You actually have to play to a game over. With compilations I generally prefer to have every game available at the start, but it is an interesting way to get attention on some of the lesser known games here as those are what you have to play to unlock some of the more well known ones. Pac-in-Time is an extremely obscure platformer that I had actually forgotten about and you have to play it twice to unlock the more popular Pac-Attack, and while I do appreciate the sentiment, Pac-in-Time is frankly terrible so having to suffer through it to get the better game is a bit annoying. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled it's here and that people can see such an obscure part of Pac-history, frankly that's the kind of stuff that really needs a re-release moreso than the stuff everyone already knows, but it's gonna take a while before I figure out beating the first level.

More charming however, is the hub. Each game has little missions and sub-oibjectives you can do, and completing these gives you more decor for the arcade. Characters gradually filter in and you can use the coins you earn to unlock more decoration. I imagine this will appeal to people who enjoy Animal Crossing type games and while I probably won't put a ton of time into my arcade, I do enjoy seeing all the things I keep unlocking and it gives you good motivation to actually try each game in-depth. The coins are also used to play the arcade games, and while that sounds like the setup for a horrifying microtransactions system, I don't think it's actually possible to run out given how many they give you at the end of each game, it's just a fun way to keep with the theme adn give players some reason to invest time into each title.

My only other potential gripe is I do wish they did more with the Museum aspect of the collection. That's really a complaint I've had about every post PS1 Pac-Man/Namco Museum but the PS1 games had such love put into showing all the different advertisement flyers, merchandise, artwork and history of these games. This release does have a "history" tab on each one, but it really reads more like a general synopsis/advertisement for the game and the only real historical info is the actual release date. As much as people make fun of Konami for barely making games anymore, their recent collections have had entire books about the franchises in them, so some kind of deeper retrospective would have been neat.

Overall though, this is a stellar collection, the only other games I think I would want to see are Pac-Man 2, Pac-Man Jr, and Pac-Man Plus but those probably all have rights issues and Pac-Man Plus was sort of in a weird half-official status anyway so it's unlikely it will ever see the light of day again. I hope that the rest of Namco's arcade classics will see such an effort soon, I want a really good, definitive collection of Dig-Dug, Galaga, Bosconian, etc. for Steam soon!

You get what you paid for. The collection itself is great, and I love the overall presentation of the games compared to the original Pac-Man museum. I specifically bought the game for the arcade version of Pac-Man arrangement, Pan n' Pal, and the Pac-Man remix Wii games (Pac n' Roll and Pac-Motos). These titles are very hard to come across these days if you do not use emulation, and to have them all together in one collection is really REALLY nice to finally have after waiting so long for something like this.

I'm very pleased with the game, but I am writing this review specifically to list some things I did not like.

* Missions are a complete joke. If you are in any way SOMEWHAT good at Pac-Man, you will have absolutely no problem finishing the missions. The only one I had trouble with in the entire game so far was getting to board 15 in Pac n' Pal. I really really wished that the missions were going to be at least somewhat challenging when I heard about them, but they're not. I feel like most people who would go out of their way to spend 20$ on a collection like this are true fans of the series, and the true fans are pretty damn good at most of the games. I don't feel like i'm the only one who would have liked it a lot more if they had missions that took a lot of effort to accomplish. For example, most of the arcade ports have 50,000 as the highest score to get to which....really isn't high at all. Pac-Mania's highest is 100,000, but in that game you can easily reach 100k by the end of board three if you know what you're doing. I would have loved to see missions like: Score 500,000 in original Pac-Man or something like: Complete Pac-Man arrangement (Arcade Version) without using any continues.

* There are a few games missing in here that I would've liked to see. If they were going to bring over two of the games from Namco Museum remix on the Wii, I don't see why they couldn't have brought all of them since the ones we got are pretty much straight ports. I was honestly very shocked when I found out that Pac-Man Plus wasn't going to be added to the list as well. I felt like that was pretty much a guarantee with how much the game has been popping up in other arcade ports recently

* The audio sound effects for some of the ports is kind of...not so good. The two games where it stuck out to me the most were Pac n' Pal with some of the point counters, and the sounds for the specials being pretty loud too. Pac-Man Arrangement (Console Version) also had some pretty poor audio especially the sound Pac-Man makes when they eat dots. Don't get me wrong though, some changes in different games I actually really really like. The sounds in the original Pac-Man are different but I really don't mind them. The sound Pac-Man makes when they eat a ghost now is extremely satisfying compared to the original sounds, and the complete music overhaul in Pac-Man arrangement (Arcade Version) was a really nice welcome.

* I personally do not like Pac-Attack that much..didn't really plan on playing it other than for the missions (thank god these ones were easy at least), but why did they have to use the snes version!! I would've loved to see the more updated version, but they gave us the one we see everywhere else instead.

Overall though, I really enjoy this collection. The things I listed above are very minor gripes, and didn't steer me away from the game really at all (those missions though cmon man). If you're debating about getting it..if you really do like the Pac-Man series, or haven't played a handful of the more obscure ones pick it up. If neither of those apply to you, wait for it to go on sale.

Hopefully this game does super well so Namco finally gives us a damn Pac-Man World collection

This game is worth it for the average Pac-Man fan, I know I personaly enjoyed it. One thing I wish they added, or will add are the Pac-Man world games, or even Ms. Pac-Man. Over all it is a game made with effort to emulate that "arcade" experience.

This was supposed to be a grander celebration, but the presentation of many of the games is just underwhelming. This compilation, as it stands close to release, suffers from bugs and oversights, choppy arcade/console sound emulation to a high degree, ear-splitting levels of treble in some of the REALLY old games... The bugs just keep coming. I recommend waiting for a sale for now, but I will happily update my review if the bugs I keep reporting in discussion threads are addressed and properly fixed.

As it stands, I'm convinced this was quite rushed at best. And as a longtime retro arcade and console fan, I'm disappointed about that. Even previous rereleases of Namco's arcade games on the same platform do a better job now.

I am thoroughly enjoying this game and have enjoyed playing the original Pac-Man, as well as its many other games. I would say all the games are great. Lots of these titles brought me nostalgia, but some I've never played and even then they were pretty cool. My only complaint would be Pac-In-Time's janky af controls. Otherwise, great game!! Loved the lobby customization options!!

𒐪⎝ Epylector ⎠𒐪
𒐪⎝ Epylector ⎠𒐪

As a collector, this game is 100% correctly priced for what it is and thus warranted a day-1 purchase. You get exactly as much bang-per-buck as you should from a Pac-Man Museum release. Considering pretty much every game on Steam in my view is over-priced 20-50% on average at day 1, this is an excellent precedent.

Is it better than the God-Tier Namco Museum Volumes 1 2 or 3 from the PS1? -no.

Is it better than the fantastic Pac-Man Collection on GameBoy Advance? -absolutely.

Is it better than sex? -maybe.

The coin mechanic of spending earned coins to play the machines I deem a valid choice -it uniquely preserves the feel of how you actually felt choosing how much to save your coins, how many to spend, how hard to work to earn them, etcetera.

The customization is fine, it's a gimmick to loosely motivate playing the games, it could've used more depth but it's not bad.

This is better than the previous delisted Pac-Man Museum that was on Steam that had shitty ports, but we still need Ms. Pac-Man DLC for that to be 100% true as that delisted title did have Ms. Pac-Man DLC.

If they had thrown Pac-Man World 1-3 and Ms. Pac-Man into this game by default, I would've been happy to pay double the current price as those are meaty valuable titles to have. I encourage at bare minimum a Ms. Pac-Man DLC, and with any luck, a Pac-Man World Trilogy DLC OR standalone Pac-Man World Trilogy title release.

Solid graphics, solid controls, the game is as good as the cover art.

I am genuinely pretty mixed on whether or not to recommend this game. It has some great things going for it, but it is also held back by several drawbacks.

I hesitantly recommend this game, but there are some notable caveats:

The Bad

Performance Issues:

    • There is noticeable input lag on some titles (thankfully Pac-Man isn't the most input-intensive title, but it's still an annoying way to lose)
    • Several games dip in frame rate from time to time.
    • Audio can be bad. The random frame rate drops make songs sound distorted for a brief moment, and eating a pellet occasionally won't result in a sound being played.
    • Pac-Man Arrangement: Console Version strangely has very harsh, raspy sounding noises when you collect pellets.

Decorating the Arcade

    • Decorating your arcade is a cool concept, but it feels very lackluster. Almost nothing can actually be interacted with, save for the arcade cabinets themselves and a jukebox.
    • Furniture options are very limited and some items are earned from a gacha machine. Thankfully this game is very generous on coins, but the whole process feels unnecessary given the minimal amount of interesting content to collect.
    • I anticipated an "over the shoulder" camera to make it easier to appreciate the arcade from something resembling a person's point of view. The aerial angle makes it hard to read what the cabinets are.
    • Anything you could interact with can also be done faster and easier from the pause menu, further making the arcade feel trivial.

The Good

    • The price of the game is very fair at $20. Several of the titles bundled in this game retailed close to the price of the whole bundle!
    • The game selection is rather good! There are a lot of classic favorites in here, but about a third of the titles are relatively obscure.
    • I enjoy the pieces of art for the arcade cabinetry. They're charming, even if they're a pretty minor detail.
    • The idea behind the game is great. I love supporting classic arcade titles, especially ones made with a lot of love!

Who is this game for?

If you love Pac-Man and appreciate picking up a bundle of classic arcade titles for cheap, this title is for you. It would be significantly easier to recommend with the performance issues fixed, so if that ever happens I'll try to update my review.

Waka-waka, friends!

Worth it for Pac-Man Arrangement (arcade). It is very addicting and what you would want from a modern arcade game. It is faithful to the original, difficult, has great graphics/art style, and adds new powerups that adds strategy to the mix.

While I really like this, it has some flaws. Sound emulation isn't that good but I believe it can maybe be improved with an update of some kind. The audio in the original Pac-Man is horrid, the pitch and length of sound effects are never consistent and the controls feel very off. I have gotten stuck temporarily at least twice now in the original game just by trying to be precise with my movement. The rest of the games are fine but I can notice some hiccups in other games. While I love most of these games I don't think Pac-In-Time should have been included as its kind of boring and pointless. It's not really explained how you're supposed to play but I did eventually figure it out. All I did to unlock Pac-Attack was try once for real and then just die over and over because I didn't like the game (I'm sure someone likes the game this is just my personal opinion :P) Also I hope this game IS updated because as of writing the actual thing you are buying says "Month 1 Edition" so I'm hoping for more games in the future.

In it's current state I can't recommend it. For the money it's asking it's a neat collection with a good Pac-Man lineup. It unfortunately suffers from some bad input lag that messes up the movement in the games and as they require fast reaction times I'm sure you can imagine it's not great. A shame really...

This may not be "Namco Museum Vol.1-5" but this is damn close to the way I enjoy collections to be done. Not just a menu of selecting multiple games to play, but an actual environment to roam around in and some customization options.

Please, give us a Namco Museum where you can roam around and play the different games and explore. There's not a lot of people that got to play those games, but they are very memorable.

This is a great collection of Pac-Man games. Lots of nostalgia here. A fun feature is the ability to customize your own arcade. Except all the game cabinets are Pac-Man titles. That's obviously expected, but I do wish I could put some other great 80's and 90's titles in there. I do recommend this game because there's a lot of memorable games in one package, but there is one drawback. The controls are a bit junk. Some titles aren't bad. Others are difficult to play. Hopefully they'll fix it. Otherwise, it's ok.

The game itself is great but the controls are terrible and clunky for some reason. Often times Pac-Man will get stuck in a corner or not go in the direction I want him to, which isn't great when you're in a tight situation. This isn't a problem on any other Pac-Man game on Steam. I think it has to do with the controller dead-zone or something. I tried creating a new controller profile to fix it, but it didn't really work. Namco, fix your game please.

How can i move the fucking pac man ??

YDA S-Rank!
YDA S-Rank!

Oh boy, time for the biggest Pac-Man nerd on the planet to tell you why he doesn't recommend this game. Buckle up.

Let's start with the good:

+Some fantastic arcade arcade games on offer, ranging from well known to obscure
+Rarer titles include some real gems like XBLA Championship Edition and Namco Classics Col. Arrangement
+Leaderboard support for the above mentioned
+There's some enjoyment to be had doing up your own personal arcade, collecting figures and listening to music

However...

-Some games are baffling choices, 3rd party ones like Pac-In-Time, or 256, a 2015 mobile game in an arcade compilation?
-Subjectively I think the mid-2000s games like n' Roll and Motos are mediocre but YMMV
-No DIP switches or difficulty tweaking. Want extra lives for practice? Too bad.
-Multiplayer doesn't exist. No online functions or remote play, nor do local inputs work, ruins games like Battle Royale or Arrangement co-op
-Arcade customization is lackluster, props are ugly and many unlocks are just duplicates
-Related, no multiplayer hosting or visiting arcades, missed opportunity IMO
-Game progression is laughable and unrewarding, missions are often tedious and flat, with poor rewards
-Token system and achievements are pointless grinding with no payoff, and the all Mastery grand prize is free play
-No Ms. Pac-Man. I know it's for legal reasons, but seriously? Pretending it never existed? Pac-Mom!? Ughh
-Worst of all, no extras. Compare this to other Namco "Museum" games or SNK 40th and you'll be disappointed

In summary, the games are worth playing and there's variety, but this is still a mediocre compilation re-release at best. The features advertised range from missing to underdeveloped and Museum+ falls shy of the Namco Museum games put out before it. For $20 USD, you could definitely get your worth of this compilation, but it's not gonna be the nostalgia trip you hoped for.

This game lies, You cannot play any multiplayer at all, Like Battle Royale, When you connect a Gamepad or anything else, It keeps it and the keyboard exactly as P1, And I already used so many coins just so I can get players to join.

Really disappointing, But I'm still gonna play it.

Good selection of games, a lot more loving than the previous Pac-Man Museum (which not only was kinda cheaply done, every museum aspect was in service to the Ghostly Adventures cartoon which barely has anything to do with the actual games, not to mention the 720p lock that also meant it didn't scale to a higher resolution.) And it has my favorite game, Pac-Man Arrangement Arcade, which was oddly absent in the previous version.

I do have a few gripes that I hope will get fixed, mainly some minor control delay (which is absolutely killer in Pac-Mania due to the isometric viewpoint and more aggressive ghosts) but also the lack of DIP switch options, which even the previous game had.

The same games (minus the single DLC game) from the previous Museum (Pac-Man, Super Pac, Pac-Land, Pac&Pal, Pac-Mania, Pac-Attack, Championship Edition, Arrangement PSP and Battle Royale) are all still back, though Attack has switched from the Genesis version to the SNES version, maybe would have been preferred had they included the Namco Anthology version of the game that was featured in Pac-Man World 2 but it works fine enough i guess (though honestly I suck at attack). Otherwise, these games are the same as before except minus DIP switch options and having new borders (no integer scaling though)

The new games (Pac-Man Arrangement Arcade, Pac-and-Roll Remix, Pac-Motos, Pac-Man 256, Pac-in-Time) are sort of a mixed bag. Arrangement Arcade is a welcome addition at any time since its probably the best version of the original game's formula with the additions of power-ups and the "Kinky" ghost that modifies the other ghosts into more difficult versions of themselves) Pac-And-Roll and Pac-Motos feel like they were part of the exact same game cut into two seperate ones (same menus, same models, i would not be surprised if these are modified from the Pac-And-Roll DS game to play without needing a touch screen) They're fun but Motos especially is extremely basic and feels like a side-game in a bigger game.

256 is literally the exact same as the PC version that already exists, did they even take that off sale? The only difference is the museum tracks your scores and how many times you play, making it a good way to rack up tokens.

Pac-In-Time is a bizzare game that is strange to play and honestly not that great. Of note is they used the more difficult Super Famicom version of the game rather than the SNES version.

Its a shame that none of the Pac-Man World games were included, but I guarantee that's because of the FMV sequences and how much of a hassle it would be to remove Ms. Pac-Man from those to continue to spite AtGames. A true shame but it could also be that they didn't want to have like five extra copies of original pac-man playable as well (and World 2 would also have to remove the Ms. Pac-Man ROM too or block people out of the arcade entirely).

Great collection, few minor gripes but I hope those will be fixed in the future.

B-RY-89

Pretty good collection of games.
However, for this port in particular, control methods for the more button-heavy games aren't always ideal, taking a little while to get used to. At that point, why not offer the option to change control inputs?

Regardless, it's still a worthwhile purchase.

A great little collection of some of my favorite Pac-Man games, notably the GBA version of Arrangement and Pac-Mania, as well as some fun oddities like Pac & Pal and Pac-Man 256.

The ports are functional and the overworld puts a little effort forth where no effort was needed. It's a great collection if you're craving the classic Pac-Man experience and think $5 for the original game by itself is outrageous.

Easy recommend. A modern collection of Pac-Man games that's easily accessible and includes a bunch of titles I'd never gotten the chance to play, some even heard of (Pac-Motos was one of these, super fun arcade romp) in a simple package. Worth it to any Pac-Man fan, or anyone looking for some simple, arcade fun.

This game is honestly rather cool and not just for the retro aesthetic, I didn't even know there were so many iterations of the same game!
If you happen to have controllers for your PC this is a perfect party game (for people that have friends IRL).
9/10.

If you want a video game compilation actually worth money, skip out on origins and get this collection. It has tons of obscure games from Pac-man's library along with a really cool customizable hub world where you can create your own arcade and unlock items as you play games. The only downside is the Mrs. Pac-man censoring, but hopefully one day those legal issues will be resolved.

I purchased this to have some fun playing Pac-Man. But now I'm in the 6% of people who've used the Gashapon 100 times.
