I sort of recommend the game.
If you are a fan of the old style levels like in Painkiller Black Edition or Overdoes, then you might not like this one. The game plays more like quake or Doom Eternal, where you get locked in a room or arena and have to kills hordes of demons. You get to play as both the main guy from the first game and the demon from Overdose, which is fun for variety. You get about 100-200 monsters to kill per arena. It's sometimes overwhelming, so it can be a bit of a challenge at times, which is good. I really enjoy shooting rockets at 20 monsters at a time and seeing them explode and spray blood all over the place. The game was fun, but simple. Sometimes it feels like the levels carry on for too long just for the sake of spending more time with the game. The levels are not memorable at all.
If you're a fan of blowing up hordes of monsters then this game is for you. I had fun playing it. If you're more of a fan of the first game, this one plays different. Try the first level or two in order to figure out if you like the arena-style shooter.

Painkiller Redemption, map-by-map review

-
Map 1 (Trauma Difficulty)
[+] Good encounter design, makes use of the enemy roster and behaviors by boxing you in against hordes of enemies. Has some arenas which restrict movement, and some which allow for freedom of movement, and the fights remain engaging in both cases.
[+] Good drip feed of ammo, enough to take on the enemies when accounting for Razorcube usage, which you should absolutely know how to do if you're this far in the series.
[+] A constant test of endurance as well as tactical thinking. Fights go on a while, and some are very difficult without obtaining at least one secret health pickup, but still just barely possible with proper planning and tactics.

[-] One enclosed section with the poison-toting skeletons spawning to each of your sides is almost a death sentence if you enter the arena without full health, though a secret health drop is available just prior, so it isn't too bad. Still, you may view this as gating progression behind secrets.

Map 2 - Magazines (Trauma Difficulty)
[+] It's a challenge, at least.

[-] As far as I'm concerned, this map is impossible without the usage of the previous level's double ammo tarot card, which requires 800 gold to place, which you may have missed. Gating progression behind secrets is a no-no.
[-] Even with said ammo buff, it's still borderline impossible without painstakingly getting every single encounter down to a science, and/or cheesing it.
[-] See, there's these hitscan soldiers which deal a FUCKTON of damage, don't have the capacity to miss like other soldiers, don't flinch when shot with most weapons, and don't die in a reasonable amount of shots from most weapons. This map LOVES spawning them in groups, and you absolutely have to kill or flinch them the second they appear, which is only possible with rockets and shotgun ammo. You don't get enough of these by default.

This level is such bullshit that I'd reccommend downloading the Powermad toolkit to get past it.
If you're a gamer with standards, use it to ensure you have the double ammo pickup buff, then develop a strategy for each section by abusing terrain, cover, and props.
If you're a well-adjusted human being and not a gamer, whether in the positive or negative sense, drop down the difficulty to Nightmare just for this level.

Map 3 - Refinery (Trauma Difficulty)
[+] This map utilizes close-range enemies that're generally useless in other Painkiller games (due to how open the maps are) the best it can by boxing you into small spaces against crowds of wide mobs. It still isn't very difficult to dispatch them, but you will die a few times before figuring out an order of operations. I enjoyed its approach.
[+] The amount of health and armor pickups is perfectly fair to allow for a little bit of error, but not too much. I finished the map with 9 health.

[+/-] If you're still utilizing the doubled ammo pickup card, you will never run out of what you need. You can either view this as catharsis, or something that takes away some thought to the encounters.

Map 4 - The Complex Of Towers (Trauma Difficulty)
[-] This one just sucks. 90% of the enemy count is basic melee fodder that can do nothing to you since you're given ample legroom. Only two arenas actually box you in to where you can die if you mess up. If the preceding 3 levels were like this, I'd get the complaints about the game being boring.
[-] Its suckiness is amplified if you thought the 2.5% lifesteal card you (may have) gotten from the last map would be necessary. Basically makes you immortal. Even the additional ammo card probably isn't necessary to finish this one, since you can use the Painkiller to kill pretty much everything, and it gives you plenty of rockets.

I really don't get why this map exists, or why it's this far in the game.

Map 5 - Old Underground Complex (Trauma Difficulty)
[+] While still mostly sending waves of melee fodder at you like the last map, it is done much better here, and has something resembling encounter design. This is in part due to the facts the arenas are more thought out, and that the map is immensely dark, obscuring the enemies beyond a certain distance.
[+] Paced well, most arenas don't overstay their welcome. Unlike other maps, it feels like real terrain to traverse through, rather than a series of killboxes.

[+/-] The melee enemies used here are tougher and more varied in general, but still mostly harmless since you can outrun or cheese them half the time. The challenge comes from the occasional darkness-obscured hitscanner, projectile lobber, or kamikaze unit taking away chunks of your health and leaving you crippled the rest of the map. Moment to moment combat isn't too engaging, but you can also dig a grave for yourself early on and make the rest of the map more difficult than it needs to be.

[-] Unless you get hit by several Cerberi mid-run and are left limping around, it isn't much of a challenge, and the final fight is a bit of a slog since its arena is so open, and the poor enemy pathing + very short view distance makes you have to look for them.
[-] Once again, if you have the 2.5% lifesteal card, this map becomes trivial. Don't use it.

I tried to play this game, oh god I tried but I can only get about 5 min into the first level before windows says:

"Redemption.exe Has Stopped working."

This happened on both my old XP rig and my Win7 Pro (X64) rig. Crash Simulator is what it sould be renamed to as it crashes again, and again, and again.

I have never passed the first level (Or even half of the first level) because of the ****ing crashes!!!

Eggtooth vomit out a putrid sequel in the grievously named Painkiller: Redemption, missing the mark in every single way imaginable, giving the strong impression that a conscious effort was made to make this game as cheerless and boring as humanly possible. Not one single person played through the original Painkiller and thought; "I would be enjoying this a lot more if every level was a faceless series of narrow corridors that took 40 minutes to complete due to an insane amount of enemies continually slowing me down to a grinding halt." Yet here we have a sequel that focuses exclusively on this idea and magnifies it to gargantuan proportions. Nothing about this game works, it's almost remarkable in a morbid sort of way; a complete and utter calamity, a masterclass in monotony, the absolute apex of apathy, a soulless and cynical creation that begs the question; "Why do you hate Painkiller fans Eggtooth?"

A botched redemption that sends the series screaming down into the bowels of hell.

I really disliked this attempt at making Painkiller more like Serious Sam. The levels are very long and the balance is weird. I quickly ran out of ammo which meant running in circles and chasing every soul. At least they fixed the painfully slow loading of past Painkiller games.

Unless u like staying in a small room for 5minutes, killing enemies till you run out of ammo and have to use a boring weapon, and repeating it dozens of times(700+ enemies per level). Buy the other PAINKILLERS! Mainly Black Edition...

Merim
Merim

Pros:

Return of Daniel and Belial, including their weapons (you'll have them back in level 1).

Heavy metal music, just my kind of music while killing monsters!

MORE MONSTER KILLING!

Cons:

Level 1 escalated too quickly, but nonetheless its still fun and not too hard once you know your combat strategy.

Tarot card glitched when bought which can lead to your game to crash, if you encounter it make sure you unlock another. That way you will be able to buy it. It works for me.

Overall:

Game is amazing, its somewhat a mix up between the first 3 Painkiller games where the map design was as it is (not very open area like Resurrection). While like Resurrection, it has many monsters. Though this has more than Resurrection.

Levels are short, but the monster killing carnage should keep you going. Though I do wish theres more levels, and I actually was getting it on killing monsters while enjoying the music too which gives off adrenaline that makes you wanna kill monsters more and fast.

Get it if you are up for some crazy mindless shooting.

A mod that doesn't bring anything interesting to continue playing. I felt bored and annoyed after the countless waves of enemies spawning at each area of the levels. Sometimes I felt like the game was trolling me in the begining, where I thought I was able to progress through the next area but then my path would be blocked and more hundreds of enemies would spawn. The game can be too complex because of the small environment with limited ammunition, health, armor and depending on the difficulty level being set will make you frustrated & bored or just bored.

My advice is to just play the black edition and overdose, everything else labeled painkiller seems like a dissapointment.

I love these games, and was able to play this way back when it came out. Redemption is a low point in the series, boring levels really bring the whole mess down.
Overall: Mediocre. I can't give a middle score to the middle game, so a scathing opening gimmik review and a positive score/10

If you are angry, or having a hard time in life, then this game will help you release some of that energy.
This game Painkiller Redemption is a FPS, and thats what it is. Shooting hordes of monsters to pieces without a good story line.

To be honest I expected more from it.

The amount of monsters, demons and skelletons in the game is very good, but the funtime like 'playing time' is real short. The're a couple of levels, but it aint much. The story, well there is no story.. Just running & shooting the fuck out demons..

Deae Lunae
Deae Lunae

This game...is boring. The level designs are boring, the massive waves and lack of changing enviroments is boring. The lack of ammo generally limiting you to the Deathcube or Bonegun is boring. The fact that the first level has over 1,000 enemies makes this feel more like a grind than a progression like in the original. And is boring.

Overall, this is REALLY REALLY boring to me. I'm glad I didn't buy this on its own and it came in a bundle. I absolutely do not recommend buying it.

Pretty bad level design even for a fan game. Each level consists of featureless box-like cramped areas, and each area has 100-200 spawns. It's gets really tedious fast since you have to spend maybe 5-10 minutes clearing every box.

The game has more than thousand monster per level! It's ridiculous! And become boring very fast. Don't play it if you can.

SuchACard
SuchACard

One of the worst games I have ever played -- not the worst because, surprisingly, it hardly every crashed. However, there just isn't anything fun about playing this game. Painkiller games are notorious for being really slow to load saved games. Since this game constantly has a ton of monsters spawning everywhere in a very small area, you have no place to go. You don't even have time to turn around so that you can fire. The result is that you die quickly over and over again. So the standard pattern is: play for 5 seconds and die, press F9 to load your last save and wait for 45 seconds, repeat (endlessly). I finally did make it to the end of the first level (1011 kills) just to see if it was possible. It was but it sure wasn't fun.

Also note that this a game is a non-stop slaughterhouse/frenzy sort of game. There is no sense of pacing. You are fighting for survival 100% of the time. Obviously no sense of any plot or story either.

I suppose some might get an adrenalin rush from this game -- it definitely does keep you under constant fire. But I just found the game frustrating while I spent most of the time looking at the "loading" screen over and over again.

The original Black edition is great. But this version is worse than Resurrection, which was already pretty bad. I definitely DO NOT recommend this game.

Really a very good Painkiller game for me, it is action like no other Painkller. The soundtracks in the levels are also like no other Painkiller. 8 maps its like a room fighting simulator most opponents it even come 30-60 opponents at once. This painkiller is only for someone who wants little Story and many hordes of monsters. I love the music of Painkiller Redemption. Not everybody likes this game!

Pope_Goodvibes
Pope_Goodvibes

Painkiller Redemption- the game where you find yourself exasperated, repeating the words "they just keep fucking spawning" over and over again in increasing desperation. All of the faults of Overdose are here, and NONE of the charm from the original is found. Instead of being themed (like how in the first game there were levels like the asylum or the carnival that featured unique scenery and enemies) all the levels in Redemption are themed around boring concrete walls and floors with no unique characteristics to distinguish the levels apart. And in each of those levels, you enter a large room and fight roughly 300 of the same goddamn boring one hit enemies. Then you go to the next room and do the exact same thing, so on and so forth. No good qualities, no Painkiller charm or fun, ABYSMAL level design. This game is truly beyond Redemption.

cons:
poor map design. small enclosed rooms.
unoriginal game design. ai enemies, ai bosses, map textures all ripped off from painkiller black edition.
slow/boring/repetetive gameplay. uninspiring infinite spawn waves and flood waves of repetetive enemies.
lazy developement. copy+paste ai minions and bosses from painkiller black edition. no new enemies.
lazy story design. half cut story production. characters don't even match. for example female char boss is represented as a copy+paste boss from painkiller black edition.

Firstly, the engine and core are the same, so you have rhythm jumping, pleasant 150 FOV, climbing, shortcuts for shotgun and stakegun and the game looks good and clean.

First level is manageable hard, but then on the second level you got locked in two by two room with several hundreds of enemies, not much ammo and no health. So, might as well restart the game on story mode difficulty. And the brand new storier modier difficulty even rids you from collecting the souls, which wasn't a brilliant mechanic even in the original game. There are about a thousand enemies per level so you will turn into the demon every couple of minutes.
Outside of abysmal balance the level design itself is neat, tight, compact and without much exploration, with the so called "console" "games" school of thought. They are not very great to play on but okay to look at after you finished the level and all doors have opened.

I can't tell if there are new enemies, but there are no new guns at all. Though it kinda makes sense, considering that the story ties all three protagonists into the single storyline. There are just three cutscenes, but they are just rolling text with 2D pictures INTENSIFYING in the background. Overall this is another eight levels long late entry into the fra...

My least favorite of the Painkiller add-ons. Levels are small and repetitive to the extent where you often return to one room later in a level and have to clear it out again. Instead of large levels with vast different areas in each, most of these levels only have a half-dozen rooms in which you run circles, mowing down wave after wave of enemies.

If you prefer close-combat hordes of enemies in your face (over and over and over), this game is fine, but if you enjoy looking around and exploring (and killing whilst doing so), you'll find more enjoyment in the other Painkiller games.

Ughh ... it's time to review yet another Painkiller game. I had all of those sequels to Painkiller in my library and said why not pass them just once. Well that's all you need to know. The only plus side of this game is the music, and that it loads a bit faster that Resurrection. Other than that - we have the return of levels with 500+ enemies - which is insane. I guess if they made the levels witch 150 - 200 enemies the game will be 2 hours long, but why not spawn enemies all the fucking time - like that is any challenge, kill a bunch of enemies - go demon form : repeat. I can recommend it only to a Painkiller fan, which does not mind the repetetive nature of the game, and would like to fight a little bit of more enemies each level.

Kdosda Hegen
Kdosda Hegen

If you hate this game, it's completely ok, cause it's not for everyone. It is an extremely cheaply done challengling game. The game spawns hundreds of enemies (about 30 at a time and repeats it until you kill like 200 in the same room) in very tiny areas for most of the game.
Recommended if you want very hard, violent shooter in tight spaces.
Some levels were very fun like level 3 and 5.
The game becomes extremely repetetive especialy at level 6 there you kill a bunch of enemies and then another bunch comes and it repeats untill you kill like 2 hundreds of them and then you repeat same shit in next room...

I am really pissed it does not include all weapons, it only has half Painkiller and half Painkiller Overdose weapons.

storyline doesn't make any sense. for example characters "meet" in cutscenes but never in gameplay, also it has possibly worst cliffhanger ever - to be continued screen after average level, not even a boss fight at the end...(for some reason game gives you 2 more levels after boss and credits) and there are many many more problems with story and stuff.

NOT recommended for claustraphobics LOL. anyway pass on this one

I have seriously liked some of the Painkiller series. I have PK Black, Hell and Damnation, and Overdose

However Redemption just bored me straight out of playing it. ... When people say more and more waves of enemies spawn in the same room, it's true. It means fairly quickly that there's nothing to see. The graphics and settings are pretty bland anyway, so there's really nothing to see. To make it worse, it actually make you go back to areas, and not for any particular reason. Just because you can't go any other way. Then more waves of enemies spawn from the same places they spawned from last time.

Not worth keeping going to see if it gets better. It hasn't grabbed my attention in any way.

Another annoying mechanic comes along too. You are working with one set of weapons. Like weapon a on slot 1, weapon b on slot 2. The weapon selection seems authentically tied to early games. Then for no reason it changes the weapon set to another weapon set. The result is, at first you are pressing a key expecting e.g. a crowd control weapon. It's not there, and some other weapon is. It seems to change every new level after a while. Then next level, usweapon selection changes back to what it was at first, and then back again, and on. You have to remember two weapon loadouts.

Oh dear. It is so bad it hurts. Don't believe the mixed reviews. It is utter crap. Resurrection with the last patch is actually decent and levels are beautiful. This Redemption (for the players, not for the developers for sure) uses all the multiplayer level from the original Painkiller. And the only thing they came to make it interesting was infesting every little room with hundreds of enemies. Enemies that we all have seen in the previous games.

If you want some extra punishment, this game contains the most difficult to get black tarot cards from all the series, being the magazine and refinery specially memorable.

If you want to play something else after Resurrection go directly to Recurrent Evil, which is only slightly better than this regurgitated abomination.

When I installed the game, I though it was going to be where you could play as Daniel and Belial in their own chapters and with some good gameplay. I was wrong, what I got was: enter a room and a dozen or more enemies spawn at once, next room same thing, rinse and repeat for the whole game. I know that Painkiller is a linear game, but at least with Black Edition and Overdose, you could explore through the levels and fight enemies along the way, but this is just a simple box arena marathon.

Felt like there was no care to this game at all, and with only a total of eight levels with 6000 enemies, each level having about 400-1000, and that the levels themselves are multiplayer maps from previous Painkiller games. I can see why a lot of people don't like it. The only positive aspects I like is the music and that's about it. This is probably the only Painkiller game, where I used cheats just to speed it up. Overall the game is awful and stupid, and it was neither satisfying or fun to play. I highly do not recommend this game.

The core shooter mechanics are really good and the guns are fun and somewhat creative. The overall level- and character designs are great as well. I just can't complete this game. You are changing between two characters with simular weapon sets, that basically play the same. You are fighting your way through hordes of enemies and it should be fun, but the levels are just painfully long and feel like hell. There's also a heavy problem with balance. The game is either too easy and gives no challange at all or from the Insomnia difficulty onwards there is just not enough ammo.

Painkiller games are some of the most straightforward shooters out there and this one is no exception. You are in hell and kill waves of monsters. No boring cutscenes or complicated stories. Just you, a bunch of monsters and a variety of weapons. The game has also a lot of secret areas just like a typical oldschool FPS. And last but not least - heavy metal soundtrack.

Pogo

Believe me, this game is truly underrated.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

About the game:

The game follows a level design very simple: Fight with a massive horde of enemies spawning -> The path for another room in another part of the map will open when you finish -> Checkpoint -> Another massive horde of enemies.
Is quite relaxing. XD

You basically go passing for alot of rooms in a not so big map, but the rooms are very well placed (imo) and its cool how you going to "exploring" everything room by room. Every room; a new set of spawns, a new piece of map to find spots, new enemies combinations to kill you.

But don't think its "just keep shoting everything".
That s*** is really hard you will have to learn every spawn sequence, every corner of every piece of map, save ammo, choice the right weapons for each situation, have strategy to unlock the Black Tarot cards(which reminds me, I think that is the most difficult Painkiller to get the cards) and mainly: PATIENCE. You probably will die a lot until understand how to pass of each part of the map.

I lost almost TEN hours just replaying the second level because its too f******* hard to get the Black Tarot card of this map, but I can say it WORTH.

(Black Tarot: cards that you unlock at the end of each level. You can equip to have some passive skills like Double Ammo when you take crates)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

About the franchise:

Yes, this is the second worst of the franchise(I believe Recurring Evil is even worst). Painkiller Black and Overdose is awesome, but It dont means that Redemption is a bad game. Just is not too good as the others, but I still enjoy that as much as PK: Black. Its kind of different, Redemption reachs a little more intense action.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

About the bad reviews:

That are two kinds of people giving bad reviews:
People who don't get the purpose of the game.
And PK "fans" that can't accept a game of his loved franchise are not better than his fav.

The purpose of that game is exactly what him gives:

    • A new campaign guarantees for 7-10 hours of new and genuine Painkiller action
    • Even more bloodshed and action per square meter: immerse into freaking intense gameplay & ultimately challenging FPS action
    • More dense maps and sick enemies than ever before: kill over 6.000 uniquely spawned wicked monsters

And 80% of the bad reviews are like "has a thousand enemies","no time to breath" ... ?!?!?!?!
YES, has a thousand of enemies. "even more bloodshed and action per square meter". I dont get how people can buy a game without read the description and then, complaining about the MAIN PURPOSE OF IT, WHICH IS: KILL ALOT OF ENEMIES.
And if you wanna breath? Guess what? You can always pause the game. :T

Tinefol

Spawn in a tiny room. Kill a wave of enemies. Kill a wave of enemies. Rinse, repeat. Repeat a dozen more times to have a door open to another tiny room. Repeat through ten alike rooms. You've killed nearly a literal thousand enemies now: congrats, you can go on to the next level. Repeat this process for as many levels as there are. I salute: you've mastered Painkiller Redemption.

Or who I am kidding? Don't repeat my mistake and try to finish even one level in a futile attempt to find out if second level offers any kind of difference to gameplay. Nope it won't.

In fact, just don't ever.

then pray, turn on some metal and run, don't take your time, RUN because those doors are timed. you need to kill ALL 6000 then do it all over again. I'd recommend you skip this and resurrection and go play black or HD

Amazing expansion!!! If you enjoyed Painkiller Black and Overdose (let´s skip Resurrection as it was terrible in every way) you will enjoy Redemption. I highly recommend that you play the previous games first because I think this expasion is a lot harder. The difficulty gets insane. Only Overdose on some stages (especially in Trauma) comes closer to some maps of Redemption.

The gameplay is something really amazing here and it´s the aspect of the game that most shines. It changes a bit the formula making not linear levels with some exploration. Instead it makes the scenarios pure shooting gore arena combat style. Around 1000 enemies per level gives you the most crazy adredaline combat in the series so far. Also a new metal soundtrack helps inspiring the player to destroy all the enemies. Sure the maps aren´t something to be amazed like in the first game or even on some Overdose desings. As a result,
now maps only purpose is to archive an excelent gunplay gameplay. The whole game consist of 6 base maps plus 2 small ones. As the maps were originally devoloped to multiplayer gameplay the pacing you feel while playing is amazing. Only it gives you small seconds of rest among battles thus the whole experience never feels boring. It´s full non-stop action, metal and killing. I think this is the best "Painkiller" to make all the anger or fury get out of yourself. In the end, it´s all about having fun and this game really shines on that.

I finished the complete game in Nightmare difficulty and completed all of the black tarot challanges. Some of them are really really hard like Razorblade and Shotgun only. The game was difficult enought on that mode. But I wanted to finish it in Trauma mode. That was a whole different insane journey because in that mode you can´t pick up souls from enemies nor quick save possibility. Beware, the first half of levels it´s by far the most difficult in the game. The only level that I literally HATE it´s level 2. It´s PURE HELL and you will die like Dark Souls mode. It´s INSANE till the point I was so frutrated that in the most hard section of the level (the one with the venom pool and and Wall) I needed to abuse the jump mecanic and sort of glitch out to fight from above a platform. In any other way was impossible in Trauma. It´s really the only miss point and bad level because it´s full the WHOLE level with hitscan military enemies and they will tear you apart again and again!!! Even if some of the hardest levels and undoubtly in Overdose Trauma difficulty, level 2 Trauma of Redemption reachs a whole new level. It´s so broken. Otherwise, this game is pure joy. I recommend playing on Nightmare and getting the cards. You will have pure fun. If you want to hardcore after that go on Trauma but beware because level 2 will give you a really bad time.

I think this expasion was a really good one and deserves a lot better reviews. It may be not be as great as Black (best entry in franchise) but I think it´s on par with Overdose! Think Redemption as the Doom Plutonia version of Painkiller. You will need to master bunny jump and ammo saving to get throught this one. This test all your previous learned skill to the very highest like no other entry does. This is a hardcore fun expasion done for the real fans of Painkiller. Prepare to have a blast with pure gameplay!!!

Amazing skilled gunplay with non-stop shooting and killing thousands enemies with metal. I give Painkiller Redemption a solid 9/10 for what it´s. It may not shine on maps or other areas. But I think the new twist horde mode is really well done.

the only thing it has better than Recurring Evil is that the first level doesnt lock you in tiny rooms and expect you to beat the entire level with the melee weapon to unlock the tarot card.
it instead expects you to kill 1000+ enemies without dying of boredom/tedium, in slightly larger rooms.

No wonder why this game gives you a difficulty EASIER than daydream
I finished the original painkiller on Trauma EASILY. Unfortunately, this one is unplayable on trauma. In fact, it is unplayable even on slumber, because it is too BORING!!
At least this one doesn't crash every minute and plays like a dream in 4k resolution, unlike resurection...

This feels different than painkiller, the music is there, the game play is kinda sorta there but the general feeling is gone. Bunny hopping for example does work, not very well but it works. But the monster count is far far FAR too much. The first level has a little over 1100 enemies, that does not seem so bad but there is no speed, the music is pushing you to go fast and have fun but its all just managing ammo sure you can move fast but whats the point? The monsters dont give you any reason to, sure they do alot of damage but there are so many of them often times you will be out of ammo (see huge goddamn monster count) and have to resort to melee, meaning mostly just kiting monsters and trying to not lose health. Not a painkiller game in my opinion.

Fighting hordes of demons like in this game is not fun and it's no more a PK
game, it's also too short and has a plot not interesting.
The ONLY good thing here is that these devs have reduced the loading
times for the savegames compared to previous games.
Not rcommended, sorry :(

My Final Score is

51% /100

So I haven't googled it or anything but it seems each Painkiller game was made by a different developer and that sure seems to explain the extremely random level of quality for each of these games. Some of them are pretty awesome little shooter games. Others feel like junkware inspired by Painkiller rather than a new game .... Like this one! Wtf happened?

I tried this one multipple times but always gave it up... there is always an area where you should use close combat weapons but you don't have any which could be used without damaging yourself... I liked all of the Painkillers gamers but not this one... there is something wrong with it. I just don't like this demonic character and weapons either..

BARF_FACE_9000
BARF_FACE_9000

Waste of money. Unmitigated bore. Bland weapons, pretty much a wave defense in tiny arenas as you just flee from the ever-encroaching swarm of enemies and scramble for ammo to insert into one of your bland guns. Even as a diehard FPS fan, this gets a definite 'pass' Save your money. Even on sale, look for something else. You probably won't have fun.

While (thankfully) the game does not have all the bugs Resurrection had it is still not easy to reccomend, the gameplay is boring and extremely repetitive, all you have to do is to enter into a room and clean it up from all the completely braindead monsters/demons... Also keep in mind that EVERYTHING here is recycled from the previous Painkiller games, maps, guns, monsters, bosses, textures, there's nothing really new here exept maybe for the soundtrack... Maybe only if you are a hardcore fan of Painkiller and if you find the game at a very low price you can still give it a try

The fourth stand-alone expansion of Painkiller.

The story seems to be a "sequel" to Painkiller 1 and Overdose, where they bring new exciting features such as:

Shooting, shooting, shooting, shooting, shooting some more, and a little more shooting that will destroy your left click button fast than completing this game.

Also you can't pick up new weapons until you're out of combat, like wtf??

The gameplay is so mindless, and you're honestly just wasting your life away playing this. But hey, isn't that what gaming is?

I loved the first painkiler game,
i thorrowly enjoyed the battle out hell,
there were some astonishing parts in Overdose tho tonaly it felt wrong.

What the hell happened during development of this game? where are the interesting arenas, beautiful vistas (ex.: airship warfare in Overdose, entire concept of hell from first).

Something went wrong during development of this datadisc and i do not know why - series has grabed me by slightly off paced combat arenas that tended to have pretty striking designs (remember orphanage?) but fights dragged slightly too long in them. In this sequel to story of Daniel (original protagonist) and Beliel (overdose) the premise is solid, i WANT to know whatever came of Daniel's rejection of heavenly offer, what would Beliel do with or for him sounds very promissing.

Well what happened is that somehow lord of portals (Beliel) atracted ire of all demons ever and this game is hovering in far less interesting enviroments for far longer than it should, it is experience akin to being casted into damnation. Now i would assume it is some sort of clever not so subtle way creators intended it to feel but i do play the game and notice things like enemies spawning at same point for minutes on end, not even trying to have clever combinations of them, the once mightly demon form has become so mundane (it gets used every single room if you bother to collect souls or play the slumber diff) that it frankly becomes more obtrussion than actual power up.

If the onslaugh of enemies was the idea than make it into stream, focus on the co-op aspect that having protagonists implies and do away with doors (after all shoudl not Beliel just go wherever whenever he wants to? being master of portals and all). or make the demon horde thick enough to sustain the power up indefinitively.

Eh no use the game has been released decade ago nobody is going to fix this.

Pros:
none what so ever (even the story bit is not good)

cons:
this feels like death of the game series (i know there are more datadiscs and even PK2), but this must be one of its worst points,
overly dragged out combat,
minimum enviromental storytelling,
(as seen in other PK games) pointless chekpoint placements requiring backtracking,
very boring enviroments,
entirely too simillarly feeling weaponry,
enemy over population (leading into),
completly dishartening overuse of the demonic form,
no or minimal cutscenes, most of the story is done via text walls,
Beliel (as much as i maligned his constant yammering) is not far more silent,
it just feels wrong, slow progress, moving in circles, no eyecandy in terms of architecture or enemy design, hell SOME enemies even feel worse (the knights now have pointless red and blue highlights that are unbefitting them),
barely if any at all new enemies.

TL;DR.: even if you are curious about Daniel's ultimate faith or Beliel's hijinks this is not the game for you, look up story synopsis or something because this game feels like you are stuck in nightmare.

Terrible game.

Anti-Russian company that doesn't mind selling to evil countries like Israel and the US, despite their constant child murder and genocide.

By the way, Ukraine has been at war for 8 years with 13, 000 dead (don't worry, they were mainly only Russian-Ukraines, and most of them were adults).

There are currently 40 wars worldwide.
