I started off my adventure in a local tavern where I happened to meet 3 heroes looking for excitement, thrills and (like me) adventure. So I hired my 3 champions, A herbalist - Tupac, a Barabarian and a Ronin (whose names aren't worth mentioning because I have Tupac on my team). And so we began our quests, meeting wise snails, a travelling band, a talking mushroom, fighting off malicious beasts and sea creatures. Those were the days, bringing home the good news of a completed quest, selling every loot I aquired because most of it was useless, seeing the smiles of the quest givers face and mashing down 100 beers to get an achievement.

Unfortunately that party only completed one quest and died on the second one.

But my new heroes... Now this is where the excitement begins!

DrSkulk

(Based on a true story.)

This is the story of Hacky, Samira and Jamal, three legendary adventurers. Hacky, true to his name, was a dwarf who excelled at hacking at stuff. Samira was a human enchantress, and supported the party with magical expertise. And Jamal - well, he smoked pot all day. Which was good, cuz weed be good healz, mon.

They were a formidable trio. Hacky took all the hits at the frontline, while Samira melted their foes with righteous fire, and Jamal - well, he smoked pot at the back. Which was good, cuz weed be good healz, mon.

They'd been to the Stormy Peaks and took from the giant squirrel Ratatoskr his razor-sharp tooth, which Hacky would use to slice and dice. They'd gone to the Sunken Empire and defeated the geisha for her magical harp, which Samira used to curse and bless their enemies at the same time somehow. And Jamal - well, he didn't need anything beyond his own pipe. Which was good, cuz weed be good healz, mon.

----

They vanquished foe after foe, completed quest after quest, with none of them succumbing to Death's touch. Before long, they were equipped with the finest gear, and nothing at all could stun them, much less take them down. It seemed they were invincible.

But alas, on their final quest to save the world from the abysmal lord of the Cyclopean Pyramid, they got what was coming to them. It was quite impossible for the monsters they encountered to kill them, for they simply lacked the firepower. There was only one thing in the world that could stop the formidable three: themselves. An evil-eye-thing they met on the way played a most sinister tune. The gang was impervious to being stunned, but this song got them dazed and confused. Hacky and Samira turned upon each other and wound up taking themselves out, with Death sweeping in to claim their souls. And Jamal - well, he was just minding his own business, smoking pot at the back.

All he had was weed. No weapons, just weed. He had to drop some weed from one of his hands just so that he could punch the evil-eye-thing with it and somehow take it down. (Waste of good weed, I tell you.) When at last the song had been silenced, Jamal was left alone in the chamber. It was all over, it seemed. What could he do all on his own when all he'd been doing from the very beginning of the journey was smoke pot at the back? But it wasn't quite over just yet (and Jamal had nothing better to do), so he decided to stick it out to the bitter end. He grabbed Samira's old harp and marched on deeper into the Pyramid all on his own.

Death seemed certain but Samira's Harp wasn't anything to laugh at, even in Jamal's intoxicated Rastafari hands. With the power of the Harp's cursed harmony (and his weed), Jamal somehow clawed his way up to the final boss. And the duel was on.

As the lord of the minions who proved to be Hacky and Samira's bane, the Giant-Evil-Eye-Thing also knew how to play the confusing tune of doom. Jamal was dazed and confused on multiple occasions - he would throw perfectly good bags of weed at the thing for no good reason. (SACRILEGE!)

But in the end, Samira's Harp outplayed the Giant-Evil-Eye-Thing. Through an act of miracle, Jamal had single-handedly vanquished the Great Eye and emerged victorious!

----

Jamal made his way back to the town. The townsfolk were overjoyed to hear of the Giant-Evil-Eye-Thing's demise, and prepared a great celebratory feast in the tavern. Jamal had one thing left to do. He went to the chapel, and through the great power of RPG gold, he bought back his old companions' souls from Death and resurrected them, good as new. He returned Samira's Harp back to its old owner, and then the three of them went off to the tavern to enjoy the good life.

The rest of the story is just hearsay. Hacky apparently got drunk off his head on mead. Samira played a bewitching tune and then vanished until the next morning, when she emerged silently from one of the rooms, with the local blacksmith following not too long after. And Jamal -

Well, he smoked pot all night.

10/10, cuz weed be good healz, mon.

Played it a couple of hours and found that it is too much depending on luck instead of the player´s decisions. Regularly you only have the vagest clues on the outcome of choices. One of the worst things is that once you went questing you cannot return to the town (a safe place) but have to either succeed the complete quest (series of ca. 10-15 battles) or lose the whole game (= restart the game from scratch) because of the idiotic permadeath mechanic. If you like Monopoly and Roulette then this game´s design might be for you but if you like to think tactically and strategically then sooner or later this game will make you unlucky because you lose even though you decided the best you could.

Also the story writing´s fun is so-so, far from what the two great ad videos suggest.

Advice: if you haven´t done so, rather go play "Knights of Pen and Paper" which is several classes above this little game.

This got to be one of the best pixel games I ever played. I love reading the character background story at the beginning, I love the traveling mechanism that like Oregon Trail, I love everything about this game.

But... I feel like this is a IPHONE/ANDROID app game but It fun neverless and I will not stop playing it. I wish it was co-op or multiplayer.

THE MUSIC THOUGH. I CAN'T GET THE AWESOME PIXEL MUSIC OUT OF MY HEAD. It gives me nog... nogal.... *sigh* It gives me memories of all the games I used to play on the old systems.

Review of first campaign (allegedly hard):
1. Struggle a little on the first quest.
2. Get familiar with game mechanics.
3. Breeze through the campaign.
4. On final quest, get hit with mass-confusion in first room.
5. Have your guys take each other out in a single hit.
6. Lose even though the monsters are otherwise a non-threat.

12/10 confusion would suicide again

Initially has some nostalgia appeal, but really starts to drag after awhile: encounters are repetitive and can usually be handled with the same basic strategy. Dungeons feel a bit too long--you have to get through about six packs of trash on average to get to the boss encounter, all the while your inventory will fill up with junk and you're faced with the tedious task of picking through if before you can advance any further. The first 7/8ths of the game on "hard" (the lowest difficulty) are easy enough to make the roguelike elements irrelevant, though the jump in difficulty in the last dunegon makes getting killed an annoying experience.

Kind of a fun diversion at first, but gets stale pretty quickly.

A rpg game with referenced humor
-replay value
-satirical jokes
-brilliantly funny dialogue
-classic gameplay
-RADICAL BOSSES!
You get to choose your heroes, upgrade stats and loot items
just like any other rpg but in an 8bit retro comedic sense.

This game is definitely a classic in my book.
I recommend it to anyone who could use a laugh while dishing out insane quests.

Rainbow Droid
Rainbow Droid

Charming and funny roguelike-lite. Nintedo-ish oldschool RPG presentation. But because the game is rock/paper/scissors with elements it bogs down far too easily on the boredom/tedium of constantly failing while you figure out what enemy = what element, then changing your gear on the next playthrough of that area so you can win. No skills matter, no stats matter, no strategy matters, and character choice -barely- matters, it's all about the simplistic water-beats-fire elemental system.

Rinse and repeat if you really want to, but like dishwashing the game is more work than fun. Sadly.

Also I had a really nice run going where i had the party nice and balanced. so what happens? I go on a new adventure and the FIRST encounter my magic DPS character nearly gets killed and infested. I heal her, great she's full health AND THEN THE FUCKING INFESTATION FUCKING ONE-SHOTS HER which it was not susposed to do, there's no indacation of how strong it is so i've been just sort of walking it off up to this point where suddenly it kills a party member ON THE FIRST EVENT where you can't go back to revive her, I'm already fucked because you can't go back until the quest is done. This is a new level of bullshit. I really want to enjoy these nice rougelike rpgs but then stupid shit happens.

Call me salty or whatever but i perfer my video games to entertain me and put me in a better mood, never this fucking bullshit.

Nice, fun game. Great replayability, lots of characters, interesting combat system and great anachronistic dark sense of humour (LOL at the priest character class joking about children). Pretty hard, too. If you enjoyed Faster Than Light, you'll probably enjoy this. It's quite different, but it's the same type of roguelike: Story with quests, semi-random events, unlockable characters and mechanics, several gamemodes and places to go, etc.

And you can play only with your mouse, without it feeling clunky or slow. Lay back, chill and play!

I especially fell in love with it when I saw it saves your games to the steam cloud. My computer died, but my save was still intact. It saves your game to the steam cloud when you exit. Two thumbs up for that! Many games should learn from this one.

Good game. While the promo videos in the store can be a bit confusing, I found the game itself relatively straightforward. It's a must-have for anyone who loves retro games, and it has some pretty hilarious character description generation. If you like Will Save World for Gold, this game is for you.

Gibbs

I am so close to recommending this game but i just can't do it. I've put in several hours and for the most part it's been a good experience but there are just a couple things that keep this game from being great.

The Good:

Replayability: There are a lot of different types of characters to choose from and each new time you play offers a unique experience.

Graphics: Fantastic pixel graphics make this game a lot of fun.

The Bad:

Balance: The game feels very unbalanced. It seems like some enemies die right off the bat and others will wipe out your entire party. Leveling up your character is a very lackluster experience. If you don't put the leveling up points in the character's primary stat than you are just nerfing your character. Really there are no choices for leveling up your characters when it all comes right down to it.

Story: There really isn't one. A lot of the NPC's just speak jibberish and if you are into character development and a good story, this game is not for you.

Loot: You get a lot of random loot that you spend a lot of time sorting through. Most of it is junk and once in a while you get a good item but it is usually not worth sorting through it all. Although an item may have a chance of doing a cool status effect like paralysis to the enemy, they will probably be immune to it. Why bother? Just sell it all.

Party Building: You are pretty much forced to make a party a certain way if you want to succeed in this game. You have to go tank, damage dealer, and healer if you want to make it through the final quest. It would be fun if you were able to try different builds and different types of heroes. But if you do, you will get clobbered. i tried

The Ugly:

My biggest gripe about this game is that it is impossible to protect your heroes from all status effects that your enemies will use. Your armor can give you immunity to certain status effects like poison or bleeding but then you will just get paralyzed every turn. Same with other status effects. With only 20 item slots you can't switch out different armor depending on what enemies you are facing, you just don't have the room with all the random loot floating in. It gives this game a false sense of difficulty but really it is just pure frustration.

Another gripe is that you can also get in endless loops in this game where your opponent will absorb all the damage you can do and you don't take any. I threw away my items and fought with my fists only to die by a infest ability that only should have done a little bit of damage but ended up blowing up my priest to kingdom come. I was on the last leg of the final quest too...grrr.......

right now i give the game a B-, if they fixed the balancing issues it would become a A- it really is a good game with a lot of potential.

DJForgotten

I didn't quite know what to expect when I first got into the game but...

- Where is the story? It's just a bunch of goofy culture references
- What's with the inventory management? It's needlessly slow
- Speaking of slow, what's the with battles? It will just sit there sometimes

If you've done one or two quests, it seems like you've done them all. And getting new characters didn't make it any more interesting.

I wish there was more... meat... in the game. It's a no for now.

P.S. don't trust my game time, I accidentally left it on for.... 16 hours or so haha

Take a pixely party of three and set out into a world of danger, treasure, and magic. This semi-rogue like adventure game offers up a lot of variety at a low resolution.

Disposalist
Disposalist

Very old school. Not bad for the money. Not sure I'll play it again, though, as I hate investing many hours into developing an adventuring party only to die stupidly.

Click the wrong button on a random encounter and you're all dead, just like that? Not fun. Meat 'Death' at the side of the road? Don't click "Attack him".

UnKnown Player
UnKnown Player

A fun light hearted oldstyle RPG with ammusing references to nostalgia and itself. The game is actually fairly challenging and much use needs to be made of equipment to maximise skills and abilities as well as adapt to changing enemies in different areas. As you can only carry a limited amount and selling your loot is the main way of making money it does make it difficult to be prepared. For a cheap game this is giving me a lot of play time, great to lose 30 minutes in.

wolf359
wolf359

Another roguelike, but slow. This time you are presented with lots of versatility for 3 unit task force from the start. Its tough and I feel simply the more you play it the game just starts to work on rewarding you more for all those failed runs. The game taught me to never use a healer, healing is best for after fights with potions. You have such little actions in fights that you will die healing. buy potions

The fighting? Go hard, this is the tough and unfair. At some point fighting 2 -3 enemies, they(the enemies) get 2 attacks for my one. NOT FUCKING KIDDING MATE. At some point youll notice your enemies effects always land vs yours failling to an immunity, or its just terrble. I used atleast one strong Int troop double fisting spellbooks, have atleast one all spell. And depend on normal dmg and a mix for back up. Using weapons with affinties is extreme risky in unfamilar territory but atleast you can swap dropped gear between fights.

In summary, stern hard difficulty with lots of group composition and a name generating item machine after each fight with some decent trash. Sometimes its on point and after it just keeps rehashing worthless stuff you cant sell because youre on a floor in a dungeon and cannot leave until you live long enough to kill the guy at the last door or you die rich.

This game is really hard at first which turns a lot of people off of it and causes negative reviews. The combat is simple yet still manages to be fun if you are realizing this game is a small, 2d pixel rpg that only cost a few bucks.

I managed 40 hours, the difficulty turned out to be a godsend once you figure out which resists to run for each dungeon. Overall a lot of fun to be had in short bursts.

Jigglypuff
Jigglypuff

A fun, old school RPG that isn't for the casual.
Difficulty cap is high, there isn't much of a tutorial, and you'll die a lot.

The only glaring issue I had was that the music became obnoxious quickly, and I had to turn my own on.

Best $10 I ever spent, I would have no life whatsoever if this game were mobile. I like to play it after smoking a few bowls, it's a good thing to occupy yourself with while catching up on podcasts or listening to an album or whatever. Buy it and support this nifty indie developer.

Electric
Electric

I love the trailer video. Reminds me of the old DOS developers or Macintosh Classic games. However, the game is not all that good. Inventory is clunky, there is no story, and the battles are a bit boring.

However, the Oregon-trail style map is cool. You encounter cool events and mini-quests.

Skills are also kinda hard to understand. Everything is very vague.

I got it refunded because it was just not for me.

SALVANTUS
SALVANTUS

I literally just got this game yesterday, already 15 hours put into it from the first night... ( I ended up staying up all night because of this shit ). I HIGHLY reccommend this as a MUST HAVE especially before the sale ends, and even when it's over. If you are someone who enjoys old style RPG's, that had seemingly endless adventure/quests with immense ammounts of difficulty then you are going to love Pixel Heroes.

Tarnished Tom Snooze
Tarnished Tom Snooze

As the name suggests, Pixel Heroes is a "retro" game with a fantasy theme. You begin the game in a tavern, where you need to hire 3 heroes out of the 8 that are available. Exit the tavern and talk to someone with an exclamation mark over their head, who will give you a quest. Your three person party then sets off on their adventure.

The quests in Pixel Heroes are random, as are the heroes you choose at the beginning. The game follows the "rogue-lite" trend by incorporating permadeath. The action is turn-based, with an encounter happening at each node on the world map, followed by a dungeon with a series of rooms and a boss at the end. After each encounter you get a random amount of gold, xp, and loot (also random to each playthrough), and your heroes level up as well. It is up to you to stat them out according to your needs and party composition, as well as give them the right gear for the dungeon you are going to. If you don't have the right gear on, certain fights are impossible and you WILL die, many times, before you either get lucky or memorize what fights require what gear.

Overall I find the game really fun so far. I finally beat the first campaign today so I consider myself a somewhat experienced player by now and I would say that if you like turn-based games, retro games, and games with any or all of the "rogue-lite" elements, then you will probably enjoy Pixel Heroes.

Hello Fellow Gamers

Hey everyone and this is my review about the game!

This is a calm RPG Pixelated game.

Interface/Menu/Settings

You are able to turn off Music.
You are able to turn off Sound.
You can only use the English or the German language.
You can play this game fullscreen or windowed mode.
You can't change your resolution size.

About the game.

You are playing with 3 heroes that has to complete quests and complete Dungeons. You are able to choose from some Heroes with their own power before you are going to start your adventure. During your walk to your Dungeon, you are able to find some events. These things could have negative and positive sides. You can't go back to the town until you have completed your current dungeon. If one of your heroes has died, then you are able to revive them at the church. Combats are turned based and you are able to take your time.

You are only able to carry 20 items around in your backpack.
Graphics are pixelated.
Music is like Retro.
Good Music soundtrack

You can choose between alot of Heroes with alot of different stats and attributes.
Heroes that you are able to choose from are random and you are able to Re-roll ALL them.

Game has some Funny Texts.
Could be a little bit repetitive but its calm.
You are only able to select 1 quest at a time.
There is a huge Manual/Help list to provide useful information.
Turn based combat and events.
Item management in backpack could be annoying at times. (for Sorting)

Other things.

If one of your Heroes have died before you have entered the dungeon then you have to start without him. Since You can't turn back to the town until quest completion.

You can't equip dead heroes however you are able to De-equip them.
Heroes that are dead will not receive any XP.
Game is very entertaining.

I Give this game a 9/10

injuredgaiden
injuredgaiden

This is a great game.
It's simplistic yes, but full of personality and biting humor.
The random algorithms are simple, but they work.
The missions are short, but they are fun.
Not every game has to be a large expansive universe governed by incredibly deep mechanics and controls.
I wish the missions were longer, but I spent a couple of dollars, I laughed, I had a great time.
I will beat the game and probably go back again in a few months and play it a 2nd time.
What more could I ask for?
If you like pixel art, sharp wit, D&D and cheeky elves, spend a few bucks on this game.

Overall I enjoyed this game. I would describe it as a light dungeon crawl with enough depth to be fun for a while, but not so much that it is a chore to play. This game gives you a good flavor of old-school rpgs, but without some of the long slogs that come with most of them.

Pros:
+ Huge variety of classes means you can mix and match different parties for variety
+ Getting wiped out seems to almost be encouraged, taking some of the stress out of traditional dungeon crawling
+ Good sense of humor lightens the game
+ I thought the graphics added to the whimsy of the game. They did a nice job embracing the whole retro pixelated thing.
+ A single adventure only takes a few hours (or until you die). This means the game is long enough to get attached to your party, but short enough that it doesn't get stale.

Cons:
- Character leveling system is too simple. Once you figure out what works, the creativity in how you assign skill points or choose your party evaporates.
- Although there are many character classes, a few of them are just objectively the best if you are actually playing to win.
- The dungeons are all fairly similar, and you run the same dungeons during every play through. This makes the game get repetitive from one adventure to the next. It kept my attention for long enough that I played through all three campaigns, but I feel like I played it out.

When i first looked at this game i was expecting some descent gameplay, lots of humor and some nice abilities for powering up heroes. But unfortunately this game has certain disadvantages that cannot be ignored. First thing is that on each room you get lots and lots of useless loot. I could understand that if it was sor-of-Diablo game, but in this case it is quite annoying. You either need to increase default inventory volume or make artefacts more eficcient. I mean at the beginning you average HP is around 150-170 and you get a book that heals 4 hp and average enemy damage is 30. This is extra stupid from DEV's side. And another thing is that the game is way too hard to complete. I spent 4 hours trying to kill first boss, Listening to same repetative chiptune. This game is total annoyment and it is not worth spending time and money. The only positive thing is that it could be a good material for AVGN review.

Better than darkest dungeon. It has a similar combat mechanic and class system. Sure the graphics aren't as good and there is no british VO, but it's a much better game. I certainly got my moneys worth out of it.

pizza dog
pizza dog

I've completed the game, which speaks to its entertainment value and especially humor, but the aspect of the game which is difficult is mostly artificial.

The hardest thing to deal with in the game are debuffs, and each area is themed around most encounters having certain debuffs. The game become trivial once you understand what the debuffs are, this means replaying the same areas but with harder enemies in act 2 and 3 is a complete chore.

The most exciting parts of the game happen in newly explored areas where you don't know the incoming challenge and have to pray for the best, like when my druid was forced to drop his weapon and punch a rock golem to death because my other party members killed each other with spells in confusion. The game does have its shining moments, usually of comedic nature.

Buy it if you think you'd like the old-school humor and expect 6 hours before you get bored, skip if you're looking for actual RPG combat.

OneOhm

I REALLY wanted to like this game. I generally love this genre, and the game mechanics are interesting. The three hero combat systems actually works, and the inventory system isn't too bad (awkward at first, but you learn it).

The thing that just stops me cold from keeping going with the game is that you can get into a situation in a dungeon where you lose your healer, or your DPS. That means you have ZERO chance of finishing the dungeon, especially if you are on part 6 of 8 in a dungeon. You can't go back, you can't get a noob to fill the spot, you can't leave the dungeon at all. It is a one way trip to win or die. One guy left? So what. Keep playing until you die.

Just allowing a party to bail on a dungeon and return to town when their bags are full to sell off stuff and get some potions would have a HUGE impact on playability of the game. As it is right now, I don't see myself coming back and spending time on this. It is too slow to be a real rougue game (typical game time would be < 10 mins). But the dungeon system means investing 45 mins to just wipe with ZERO chance of doing anything about it.

Its a shame, the game has a lot of potential to go well beyond the current implementation. But I think the dev has moved on anyway.

Orcomarcio
Orcomarcio

The game has good intentions but falls flat due a major flaw:
the combat is turn based and it alternates between one player action and one enemy action, even if you have 3 characters alive and there is only 1 enemy.
This means that reducing the number of enemy during a fight is almost allways useless, if the enemies all do the same damage it means that your team takes the same amount of damage each turn no matter how many you already killed.
This wouldn't have been a problem and could have been an intresting mechanic if the game embraced it and built around it, but unfortunatly it seems like it tries to borrow mechanics that don't work with this system. The biggest one of these is hybrid classes, classes that don't exceed in either magical or physical damage. The adventurer, for example, is an hybrid between an healer and a fighter having just dicreet damage and a sub-optimal heal, this means that both his attack and his heal doeas less than an enemy attack, so even if you have 3 characters and there is only one enemy, healing with the adventurer would be not only useless but also incovinient because the enemy team will still get 50% of the combat turns, so for each of your weak heals a monster would damage you for a greater amount, rendering the adventurer and all other hybrid classes less than useless.

The humour of the game is below average, it makes you appreciate the effort but fails to deliver.
Also for my taste the music is repetitive and forgettable, I played with it turned off.

CONCLUSIONS:
Pixel Hearos feels like a work of love but not enough effort went into it, if it was a school student his teacher would say "he's good but he doesn't apply himself". Good intentions aren't enough to deliver a good game and major flaws in the combat and the forgettable music and humour make it so it's not really worth playing.

Playing this game means spending a majority of time in an incredibly repetitive battle system with little payoff. Most of the strategic decision-making is frontloaded at party-generation time, after which you just play out the consequences of your decisions for a few hours. In a strange design decision, by the end of a run, damage from enemies' attacks has become almost completely irrelevant, whereas damage from any of several ailments approaches lethality, with mitigation of those ailments being entirely binary.

Deeply disappointing.

Weird game. Built for short plays of dungeon crawls. Retro, but an interesting numbers game, although the combat specifics are mostly hidden. Despite many small frustrations, what kills my experience is the endless inventory management, that is done without seeing even half of the inventory slots. I am convinced this user interface was designed for mobile devices, and I found this game greatly discounted on the android store.

I still had some fun learning the combat system, by reading the player guides on steam. It uses a complicated rock, paper, scissors system (water damage hurts fire), but much of this best part of the game is hidden away in a combat log. Due to this system, it is very easy to get stuck in a never-ending fight where you can barely scratch an enemy.

I liked the short dungeon adventures, that also kept a legacy campaign elements. It is the "saving grace" to a game that has so many limitations, because it does not ask for a long commitment of time. You play for fifteen minutes, fight a boss, get some loot, and you can put the game down again. After a while, new character classes are unlocked, for your future campaigns.

This technically difficult game might be a game to get on your phone, but there are better experiences for the desktop. This game takes up 110 MBs of diskspace, and it uses the Unity game engine. It is played entirely with the left mouse-button, and there is no gamepad support. Played this on an ubuntu desktop, with radeon mesa graphic drivers, and I did not encounter any technical issues.

I love this game. It's like a pixel retro adventure on the Amiga 500. Did I just mention how I love Pixel Heroes? This is a classic adventure game. Collect your crew in a Tarverne, do some things in town and you can accept the first quest. All clichés are served, the dwarf blacksmith, the stoner nature magician and the young elf lady. The whole thing is conceived as a side scroller and makes it wonderfully easy to play because there are only two directions. On the journey you meet super strange characters like an angry nerd or the red tentacle. As you can see here you won't save on insider and nerd jokes. And if you don't know the epic computer game Carc Dastle, you shouldn't buy this game. Everyone else gets funny adventures with typical bit music and this is good for fighting skeletons, the Necronomicon or magicians on flying mushrooms.

A pleasant venture back to 8 bit RPGs! I found the interface easy to use, the mechanics complex enough for interest, but simple enough for casual play, and the random quest structure looks replayable for some time. Excellent value for someone like me who likes strategy more than hot graphics or play that requires fast response times. Also runs well on my older Mac.

You know, I kinda like this game. They really got an old school vibe going on for real. Music is so nostalgic. Equipment management is a little annoying but that's the mother fucking way she goes I suppose. Humor is good, had me laughing at some of the ridiculous jokes. Quests early on at least are a little bland but the random encounters give you choices which is fun. I recommend it for anyone looking for an old school style RPG DnD-like adventure game.

A very enjoyable adventure game calling back to yonder times. If you watch the trailers and think you will enjoy it, you will probably enjoy it.

As simple as it gets, but still interesting. Do it without using heal books, it's a much better game without them, and otherwise its too easy

This game is fun but like many games of its type with magic and spells and witchcraft , I tend to get to feeling sick to my stomach and strange feeling after just a short time playing them. Its the same with most games of its genre which makes me wonder what kind of spells these producers are putting within their games to influence those who play them .

Player beware, you will die, a lot. This is a fun turn-based RPG where you get to roll a new cast of characters each time you play though. You hire them at the tavern and cannot select one class out of a line up of all the classes, the game only shows you 6 at a time and you have to choose 3, or re-roll for 6 new (maybe) classes. As you progress through the game by completing quests, you unlock new types of heros to hire, and they get better than the stock ones.

I don't like that there is no way to resurrect a fallen hero during a quest, and there's no way to turn around and go back to town once you set off on the adventure, even if you're still on the road. I've had a character die on the way to a dungeon from one of the random encounters, and the game forced me to continue on with 2 heros, even though I was still on the road. To me, that's not right. Also, there are no spells or potions for resurrection. It would make sense for the Priest class to have the ability, since you res at the Temple in town. For that reason, the game is too tough at times. Even if resurrection was a one-time use while out on a quest, that would be totally fine. The enemies can be hard enough that if you res, you might just die again, and that'd be fine.

Sorry, I can't recommend. I mean, the game is clearly a labour of love, the graphics are very nice and there are plenty of little details showing the authors' care.

But the gameplay itself is just not that great. It's very simplistic, it drags forever and the player's choices are all very artificial.

Everything revolves around getting proper items against proper enemies, where usually you don't even know what are the weaknesses and strengths of the enemies before you fight them. And having wrong item can easily mean you won't do any damage, while having a correct one means the battles are just mindless clicking.

I only did a few quests, but it quickly started feeling like grinding. And there wasn't even much to grind for, just very slightly better items and very slightly better base stats. Nothing really new or special. During the gameplay you unlock new types of characters, but you can't use them during that playthrough, as far as I can tell.

Overall, while the game is nicely polished, the gameplay itself is severly lacking.

Game doesn't let you retreat from dungeons to go back to town to heal. What kind of RPG doesn't let you do that? Your heroes just die... and that's it. They're dead.

Very funny but difficult game. Lots of options for character classes and items which makes replayability high. You won't regret this one.

Mobile Game. Picked it up for 3 dollars. Could it be better? Yes. Was it fun to play? Yes.

Game is quite simple, but lots of jokes and pop culture references. Does have some balance issues, most of the 'skill' is knowing what gear to equip for whatever quest you're under taking. So you either need to look up a guide or be happy with a bit of trial and error. Whenever someone tied I could think back to something I could have done better (or was caught off guard by a sneaky boss mechanic). \

Definitely felt I got value for money, but if you want something with depth maybe check out heroes of hammerwatch or even pillars of eternity.

Abandoned and left with no Workshop to open it up to Modding. This game would be off the charts if they just opened it up to workshop instead of grabbing the money and abandoning it. Now they are making a part 2 and want some more of our money. Will that be left for dead within a year and not opened to modding also. Horrible development that grabs the cash and runs. I would stay away from part 2 because that will be abandoned as well.

First play through, took 4 hours, and ends with me being stuck in an endless loop battle with no option to quit or kill self. My rogue character is the last party member left fighting a ghost enemy who can heal themselves. My two items are a magic cross bow and a +28 healing spell. My magic crossbow this ghost is immune to. So I can do no damage to it. My two abilities have cool downs of about twenty turns, one is a thing to buff my character and the other is backstab which I'm not able to use if there is just one enemy. I can only heal myself or do 1 damage. even when i drop my magic items to use my fist, im a rogue and that does no damage too. Basically we are both stuck not able to injured the other or die. I cant even make it kill me because there is no skip option. Really jarring and statistically common flaw. Now this run can never end. I can start a new game I think but this one can never go to the graveyard page that records your past parties and its my first run through

Besides that the strategy is minimal and the fights are boring/grinding, combat mechanics feel lazily slopped together

There's not really jokes so much as bizarre phrases thrown together, you have random NPC encounters with the devs that offer almost nothing to gameplay, and I experienced as annoying

but my wrist is sprained and you can play with one hand

I absolutely love this game. I own on iOS and Switch along with Steam. The game is it's own unique self. The characters are campy and goofy it's perfect. It's linear though but that's ok not all games need to play the exact same. I highly recommend if you love JRPG/Roguelikes and like me absolutely love pixel graphics this is a must buy and on sale is the greatest deal on Steam.

Its brilliant and lovely. A mini version of Darkest Dungeon (yes that means u gotta think about the areas and bosses u go up against). Lovely with plenty of loot and plenty of choices to what weapons and armor work for each area.

Its a steal at under £10.

This is an awesome Dnd type game you can play mouse only. I really like the way you choose your heroes and quest. You get them from a tavern and go questing! Probably dying, well most likely dying. There are smaller encounters you get into while traveling and some help with how to setup for the questing areas. Such as this place has poison, bleed, etc. It really helps to have the right equipment for the right dungeon.
Really chill, has some hilarious encounters. If you want something to just click away at, enjoy min maxing and finding synergies. This game does not disappoint.
