I rarely see players does anyone want to play with me?
An inferior version of Holdfast, with clunky controls and terrible gameplay. On top of that, it crashed four times in twenty minutes.
Edit: I gave it a second chance, and I think the game has potential, but it has an awful long way to go. I'll keep my eye on it!
I like the game because it's interactive battlefields that are like a mix between Holdfast and Mount & Blade. I think the game has a good future with it's still small yet dedicated community and can be fun for anyone single or multiplayer.
Commander mode is a refreshing edition to games in this genre. If you play line-battle games, you will no undoubtedly have fun with this. What makes P&L different than games like Holdfast & War of Rights? Commander mode. The strategy aspect of line battles is front and center now that every player is an Officer with 20 soldier bots. At first, having bots turned me off. After I played it, I realized that bots actually listen to your commands. A game with 7 Commanders on each side is surprisingly fun.
In what started as a Mount and Blade look-a-like, the addition of Commander Mode adds a whole new dimension into this game. Nothing is more satisfying that getting a line into position and leveling your muskets right before the enemy can, and then watching the kill feed for the results. The game still needs work in some areas, but there's lot's of promise and an active, friendly dev group
so far so good love the commander battle mode.
The game is good but has a very laggy ping/ms for me that I am South American. so I tried to open a server to play with my friends, dedicated server but not worked
this is a good game bit it is hard to understant at the bigining maybey a tutorial option? well aniwase this game is great so devs keep it up
MINI TOTAL WAR IN THE MB NAPOLEONIC ENGINE - YES!!!
The concept this game operates is something i searched for years. a hybrid between total war and holfast/mb
Every Player commands a platoon of AI.
Mind you this game is not good AT ALL. But this is the future of multiplayer historical games. 20/10 for the effort. damn worth the price!!
great! commander mode is awesome. great to be able to play offline. also has siege mode that also works offline unlike mount and blade. this was my favourite mode in that game.
love it needs more players though
FIRE BY RANK FIRST RANK FIRE SECOND RANK FIRE THIRD RANK FIRE
Been playing a few hours now, brilliant game and the new commander mode is good.
Abandoned project. Dead game. Do not waste your money on this.
Review based only on the Commander game mode.
I always liked the American revolution and this game is an interesting mp game about this era. Its graphics are siimilar (maybe i'm wrong) to Napoleonic Wars dlc on Mount and Blade warband. Its so far really cheap (5 canadian dollars)
Graphics : 7/10. They arent up to date with 2020 per say but they are pretty still, just not made for 2000$ pc. Its really made for large audience i guess and it does the job to me. (the art design of uniforms and flags is great) I also love that they introduced the ''Canadian'' aka Québec regiment in the game on the american side.
Setting/Era : 10/10 , the american revolution/18th century style warfare, always a winner to me.
Gameplay : 5/10 : have a lot of fun but the bots need alot of improvements and the auto charge for bots is an easy way to lose when you need your troops to fire instead of not listening to officer. Also, the bots have weird priority aim that makes them confuse on their targets, sometimes deciding to select 3 different locations and thus making your firing inneficient.
(If these things would be improved and they added more game modes, even a single player campaign just to learn the basics etc, i wouild make it go to 9/10 for gameplay)
Servers : 7/10 : when there is no players on the commander servers you can still play against bots etc. But the servers shut down sometimes after a while all of a sudden so i put the servers at 7/10 for ''stability'' reasons even though i have no ideas why they shut down.
Overrall : these are the most important categories i wanted to analyze. This game deserves more love and the devs seems to listened to the public. It is 5$ easily invested in a game much fun despite all its flaws. I hope the devs will put a roadmap for the players to know whats going to happen in the coming months/years. Would be a nice way to entice players to buy and keep the game. Note : 7/10.
This game lacks content, but i consider it a continuation of Holdfast. In this game you do not play a single soldier in a chaos. In this game you have your own brigade and you are forced to play with line battles as it should, during that time. It just needs more time and way more people.
Worth the money, 2 hours in and im loving it
hehe, The 54th Regiment of Royal Welsh Fusiliers Volley go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
This game is very fun, its still rough but very fun
I would say if your looking for a game to just command bots in I would say this game is pretty good at it. They just need to resize the names so I can see it because its hard to see but other then that the commander game mode is really fun.
It looks the almost the same as War of Rights, however with commander mode added, it feel like you can command a unit in total war games. Though in development, it's still fun and hopeful for future updates.
Been trying to play the game for a week and the servers are still down???
Not really good at reviews, but i'll try to sum up what I think of the game.
It's 10/10 game in my eyes.
If you're obsessed with this era of warfare like me, you'll love this game.
The commander mode is a perfect mixture of Holdfast and Total War, something that really sets this game out from others. It's still in its beginning stages, but going off of how the devs are, it can only get much better.
Again, if you're like me and you just can't get enough of line infantry warfare, this game is perfect for you. plus, you just can't beat that price.
I hope this helps if you're interested in the game, and I only hope to see you on the battlefield! Hopefully wearing a red uniform as well! :)
A great game, really recomend you play commander mode really brings in a historic feeling inside you.
Big let down. Was exited to get it learning that it was set during the 1700s and it was popular on youtube and saw that it was only 7.99. That price should've been a warning. Gameplay was lame considering that you weren't ever in formation. The servers were small and buggy and single player has hardly any costumization and don't forget the lack of character customization. Boring let down of a game.
After an admittedly shakey start last year, the introduction of Commander mode has MADE this game. Plenty of stuff still needs tweaking but with a receptive dev group and enthusiastic returning players this game hopefully has legs again.. Company, to the Front.. MARCH!
This game is fun as hell if you can get a lobby going.
A great game, 100% worth it's price. Battles are intense and exciting and it has all the tactics a history buff like myself could ask for. A little sticky and it does feel a little incomplete but overall, would recommend.
I wonder when the modding tools will be released and I would be appreciated it if someone can make a tutorial about exporting and importing custom models into games.
With the addition of Commander Mode this game is an incredible value at the $5 CAD it demands.
More units than I can name and you could spend all lunch bossing bots into formation and volleying fire against hostile bots.
Good fun!
The more it gets updated, the more bugs it has, the worse it becomes. The game often get unbalanced in number of players, most of the time you will fight 2v3 or 3v4. The game is extremely buggy, when you're unlucky (which happens very often), your soldiers will freeze in the middle of a fight (they wont shoot or wont reload), which causes you unreasonable and ridiculous death and losses.
The game has poor physic, the units have no path finding, they run only in singular vector.
The game has great historical theme, nice gameplay idea, but it will get you frustrating while playing PvP due to the bugs, poor physic structures and lack of team balance, I've seen alot of anger, hate talk and rage quit occur in this game.
For $8, its a great commander battle game.
Lot can happen in the time it takes to fire two shots, 'specially against British regulars.
Underwhelmed at first. It's now pretty fun, given that Commander Battle mode has been added.
this game is really fun if you like line battles!!!!!
Great Little Gem for a Great Low Price.
Still needs a bit of updating/Patches but... for the Price you really cant go wrong.

Pros:
+ If you are a linebattle nut, this is a recommended game! Eye-level view gives the game an element of strategy and surprise.
+ Single player session with AI
Cons:
- At the current iteration, there are no tutorials yet in game. You can learn most of the functionalities through the control options but a tutorial page / screentip could be useful in the future for new players.

It is a good game, but sadly it has a loss of players. I have mixed thoughts about this game, but I will say it has many stuff in it. So yes.
Please add some mode or Naval battle. In this game naval battle is missing.
The Graphics don't matter the gameplay does and the gameplay is beautiful and astonishing
daer Mr. MArk. I played yuor game and I took your advice, and i have to say, commander mode is the greatest thing in my life (next to joe biden being elected and us toppling a orange dictator) I have a feeling george floym wouldve played tis game in commar modeand. i hope every wholesome non racist trans loving MAP pride scully chungus. may St. Fauci bless yuo.
P.S. When playing the commander mode, I found a slight bug where bots of the 12th south carolinr infantry would randomly call me racial slurs and talk about the rothschilds negatively. Please fix!
this game runs very well for where it is at currently and fun if there were more players. the con i notice is the lack of a playerbase to have some exciting line battles. if more people have this game then we will see some flanking routes being done. even with this con i still recommend this game for the fact that i want more players to come and play this or to even give it a try.
Pretty good game. Needs hella rework on part of the AI. They are relatively stupid and beligerent in commander mode. Worst of their behavior being aim; while your troops actually shoot like its the 18th century with crappy weapons, the AI shoots with lazer beams destroying whole parts of you line in seconds. Forming up is a pain in the ass also because the AI always wants to break reloads and disrupt the line. Overall 3 out of 5.
Very fun bit of learning but up there with all the others in this genre imo.
Very fun but i wish there were more players
From what I played the game is still in development and has a lot of potential to be even greater. Other than some minor bugs this game is fantastic.
this game is awsome so i would recommend this game to others also those who hate this game fuck you
I do not usually write reviews as I generally don't care to. However, this game allows me to relive my Mount & Blade Warband: Napoleonic Wars days. I mean more specifically the commander battles involved within Prime & Load: 1776. While this is not set during the Napoleonic wars, the characteristics and mechanics are very similar which make it easy to learn. More importantly, unlike Napoleonic Wars, you can customize custom battles to the point you have unlimited amounts of fun while playing simply by yourself! The mechanics are wonderful and simplistic to add a large amount of fun while being easy to understand and use in the heat of combat.
To add, the game was beautiful graphics and good mechanics. Probably the only thing I have a problem with is the artillery in the game. It is difficult to see where the shot lands, where it is going, and aiming the thing in general. The only downfall I see is the optimization of the game.. I wish it were more optimized as having absolutely massive commander battles would be wonderful! But nevertheless, the game is a wonderful addition to your library and for the price is a great deal. Give the game a shot and trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Great Game. If you want to know what its like to lead men into battle the old fashion way. Then this is a great game for. Take you men and form a line of battle and have them fire volley after volley into you enemy! However there are very to none multiplayer action so make sure you have some friends to play with if you buy. Otherwise play with the bots after you host a match.
Absolutely a thumbs down. First, the opening screen says to play the tutorial but there is none or at least one that can be easily found. I figured I would spawn into a game on a live server. Was anyone there? Nope. Tried the server at 9:00 PM EST. No people on the server? Total scam.
Its a great representation of the war, especially for a game. I reenact and I really enjoyed this, it was fun, not too slow paced, good action, cool uniforms and great models. Over all a really good game and my only concern is that not enough people play it, which I hope changes because it deserves more!
I've never felt more joy destroying my own people
played this for about 20 minutes alone on a server since the community isnt large yet im guessing, this could be loads of fun with real people playing until then its meh. still for $5 its more than worth it
Full of dirty, filthy inbred yanks who absolutely refuse to pay their taxes.
This is game is great it would be even more great if there was people playing it though. Its very fun to go against the bots I love how there is many historically right maps and different legions for both British and Americans. I say get this game because its not that much and its a great alternative when your board of like war of rights holdfast mount and blade warband napo wars
this is a good game if you like muskets
Its a fun game but no one Plays it anymore it was dead on release RIP
Dead on arrival sadly
Long Story Short - This concept is nothing new and has been done many times before and in much greater quality. If this game came out in say 2010, I have no doubt it would have been a hit! That being said, it's a buggy mess with poor UI. We already have many better alternatives and the player base (or lack there of) clearly shows that.
This game is hated on way to much, It is very good the graphics are okay. There are some bugs but overall I love this game.
It's a shame, because it seems like a cool game, but it doesn't want to load. I tried deleting and reinstalling it several times, but the same error message always comes back as soon as you click for the tutorial.
"Played for 52 minutes" equals "looked at an error message for 52 minutes".
Meats were useless for support ( "Not our game! Try their website!") and probably neither know nor care that they have lost a customer with 102 games over a lousy four bucks. It's the principal of the matter, and obviously they have none.
Lesson learned, "Rush to D/L every purchase and make sure it isn't a dumpster fire before your "two weeks runs out". Else they don't care if your purchase is usable or not...
I would recommend this game to people who like American History and who enjoy talking about the American Revolution.
I love the game I just wish more people played it...I actually prefer it to Holdfast
Fun Game, I mean it
For around like £5, Pretty fun and good,
May experience some laggy issues or glitching out of sky and black appearing
Fun tho
Really worth checking into until battle cry of freedom comes out.
It is a really good game just wish there were more people online and they expand more from revolution to civil
Throughout my experience on this game, I would recommend it to other players who like this style of gameplay and who are into the American Revolution.
Worth the five bucks if youre playing with/against friends.
could use more updates tho
Such a shame. So much promise and now a dead game. I wouldn't pay a shiny British penny for it, if i didn't already own it. Awful graphics, clunky game play, no community.
I had high hopes when it came out.
RIP 1776. Back to Holdfast I go. Huzzzaaaaah!
The game always freezes in less than 5 minutes, forcing me to use Task Manager to close it. Can't even play the game. Don't waste your money on this.
i like it but it needs new players
Its very fun! I love how you command command troops, and it really immerses you in the heat of battle with headphones!
I'd have to ask for a refund because game will not load on my pc(windows 7 ultimate?
It's a good game but i needs more players i used to play it when i just downloaded it but there is no one with play with and the bots are not well made.
I am a proud player of this game, the playerbase consists of pretty much me. Anyways its been a while now since i played, so maybe more people has started playing it. Well I felt like posting an honest review.
The gameplay is fun and unique, i like it. The graphics could be better, but hey, nothing is perfect. Still a bit too much laggy with troop movements and shit but its fine. The sounds are cool, they should update it more pls, so far only holdfast has made a similiar gamemode but this game is better.
Great game, 10/10 would recommend.
Please update.
Dont givie up on this.
weeeeeeee
Erik out.
It was a fun game when it first came out but the development staff just lost interest in continuing the game and it just died
