THE GIMP: "The world is ending tonight, and there is nothing you can do about it."

Weird. Absurd. Visual Novel-'em-up about The Growth. Buy it, smash it out in 1-2 hours, consider your impending doom. Trust me on this one.

What an absolute delightful experience!

There are not many games as well written or produced as this one. There is the surface level of making fun of game mechanics and big corporations while using a minimalist approach to graphics. When you stumble on more and more weird things, the world building gets filled in, and everything does make more sense.

You'll get subtle hints, that you could do things differently - it's a game, you make decisions, right? And while the game isn't very long, I think 3-4 playthroughs are necessary to fully experience the facets of the world and story.

For an adventure, the puzzles are a bit easy, but it does also play games with your expectations and allows multiple solutions to a problem. There is an equal exchange for exploring other options that makes the game more interesting on the whole.

If you like reading or existential dread, this is a good title to pick up.

For 2 hours, this is a gem where you explore strange worlds and solve puzzles to stop the apocalypse that is to come. The philosophical undertones lurking beneath the riveting story deliver an impactful experience. Though brief, it provides thrilling investigations and an unsettling premise that will stick with you even after finishing each time.

Very weird and compelling VN/adventure game - the world and visual style have a patina of grime to them that creates an off-kilter aspect to the whole production. The writing is impressive in how it can jump between absurdity, poignant discussions of work ethic, and bleak descriptions of a wasting world all without missing a beat; the rapid-fire pacing is also complemented by a bangin' soundtrack. The game's commentary on corporatism might be a little less elegant overall than its contemporaries, but has just that extra bit of punch and bite driven by the game's shorter runtime and healthy dose of absurdism.

Recommended! YEHAW!

The producer of this product produced an amazing soundtrack and extraordinary art style. The storytelling was so productive that I successfully produced very deep thoughts about productivity and production. I hope that producer will be more productive in the future and will produce new products about production.

a genuine masterpiece. uncomfortable and upsetting. its dreamlike but grounded, funny and incredibly sad. there are no other games like it. its a unique experience, and one that reminds me of what video games can be, in their most unconventional forms. something that could have never existed in any other medium of art.

A lost Nintendo DS game in the style of similar adventure games of that era. Perfect length, good and fun and easy to replay. Obviously made by someone who hates/hated their office job and very much enjoys or respects Fun Biochemistry, which is just like me fr so 10/10

Composting is an aerobic method of decomposing organic solid wastes.[8] It can therefore be used to recycle organic material. The process involves decomposing organic material into a humus-like material, known as compost, which is a good fertilizer for plants.

Composting organisms require four equally important ingredients to work effectively:[3]

Carbon is needed for energy; the microbial oxidation of carbon produces the heat required for other parts of the composting process.[3] High carbon materials tend to be brown and dry.[1][3]
Nitrogen is needed to grow and reproduce more organisms to oxidize the carbon.[3] High nitrogen materials tend to be green[1] and wet.[3] They can also include colourful fruits and vegetables.[1]
Oxygen is required for oxidizing the carbon, the decomposition process.[3] Aerobic bacteria need oxygen levels above 5% to perform the processes needed for composting.[3]
Water is necessary in the right amounts to maintain activity without causing anaerobic conditions.[1][3]

Certain ratios of these materials will allow microorganisms to work at a rate that will heat up the compost pile. Active management of the pile (e.g., turning over the compost heap with a pitchfork) is needed to maintain sufficient oxygen and the right moisture level. The air/water balance is critical to maintaining high temperatures 130–160 °F (54–71 °C) until the materials are broken down.[9]

Composting is most efficient with a carbon-to-nitrogen ratio of about 25:1.[10] Hot composting focuses on retaining heat to increase the decomposition rate thus producing compost more quickly. Rapid composting is favored by having a carbon-to-nitrogen ratio of ~30 carbon units or less. Above 30, the substrate is nitrogen starved. Below 15, it is likely to outgas a portion of nitrogen as ammonia.[11]

Nearly all dead plant and animal materials have both carbon and nitrogen in different amounts.[12] Fresh grass clippings have an average ratio of about 15:1 and dry autumn leaves about 50:1 depending upon species.[3] Composting is an ongoing and dynamic process, adding new sources of carbon and nitrogen consistently as well as active management is important.

Surreal experience with a striking visual style. Doesn't overstay its welcome, and has a surprising amount of reactivity considering its simple mechanics. A meatpunk Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: more about the journey than the destination.

Word of warning, though. The game does rely on spamming options over and over again for comedy, BUT ALSO for solving puzzles and getting plot-critical interactions. So watch out for that. Frustrated me for a bit until I caught that.

one of the most enigmatic game i've played, and i'm just so happy something like this exists. THIS is the kind of game that pushes the medium foward, and not the sad dad bullcrap released by sony. and, cherry on top, it has an amazing soundtrack made by my favorite youtuber!!! couldn't recommend it enough

This game is really good and you should play it. It certainly is of the "other" kind and not necessarily what you expect of a conventional game, but if you are open for the more experimental, and more personal content of developers, this is an experience you definitely should check out !

I originally submitted this as a negative review to prove that I am not too scared to leave one. However, I think that the time is now to rectify this into the positive review that the game deserves.

played an hour so far, and im loving it. such a funny and creative story that fills you with ENTHUSIASM! Cant wait to play more. the only negative i can think of is that i cant seem to get it to run on the steam deck but maybe in the future.

I love the "refund it when youre done" message at the beginning, but NO i will NOT refund it when done. this game is to good.

Don't worry, I'm a Producer and I'm here to help

Idk if my Steam is broken or somethin but yes I played more than 7 minutes of this game. Unless the full hour and a half recording in my video folder is just a figment of my imagination (and considering the stuff in this game maybe it was). Fully recommend the purchase.

PRODUCER 2021 is a very original visual novel set in a surreal world, supported by a great soundtrack.

I loved its pixel graphics, the game shows you just enough for your mind to fill the blanks and makes the game very evocative; the screen and scene transitions reinforce that impression. The world is as much alien as it is familiar and it all lead to an uncanny feeling.

While it's short, it's a good experience that I wholeheartedly recommend if you want to try something unusual !

EnemyBeauty

Fun oddball visual novel(ish) about flesh, purpose, and the end of the world. Snazzy soundtrack and wonderfully gnarly visual style. The writing delights in swinging between absurd scenes, self-aware RPG tropes and cold, desolate descriptions of its world. Can be beaten in a couple of hours but has a few different endings, though £8.50 is probably a little steep for what you get. Worth checking out if you enjoyed Critters for Sale.

Just a weird surreal visual novel that takes about an hour (or more depending how much you want to get out of it). A lot of interesting ideas and it's pretty funny. I'll probably go back for more endings later down the line.

I won't say too much about the plot to avoid giving things away, but I really enjoyed this apocalyptic adventure. It's wonderfully weird, the music is great, it rolls along nicely from start to finish, and there are some insights here as well. If you play, good luck disrupting!

Incredible Visuals. Incredible Writing. Incredible music. Lots of little things to experience if you look hard enough. Fun little moments. It had an enthusiasm stat (my in real life enthusiasm stat for this game is 1000). It has a bar to measure how weird things are getting.

please play this gem of a game.

Weird

Funky how a little game I spent 3h playing left me with most questions and feelings than the majority of everything i played.
PRODUCER (2021) is a weird-ass game, with beautiful and enticing writing, good pacing and art and music perfectly contributing to the cohesiveness of the experience.
Calling the game too short would be doing it a disservice, its size is perfectly acceptable and doesn't hurt the experience. Still, I wish i could be a producer again and i'll probably replaying more sooner than later. I wish more games were like this one, unapologetically weird, i wish more people played this game, and i wish to make games like this one someday.

So do yourself a favor and be sure to wishlist it if you don't buy it immediately.

A prescient work of art, and really enjoyable. Short and sweet. Comes to mind alongside games like Citizen Sleeper and Kentucky Route Zero (other indie bangers about technology and rot), but with more urgency and humor. Totally worth your money.

PRODUCER(2021) is an extremely creative and entertaining visual novel/adventure game hybrid with music that slaps so hard. Experience the stresses of Producing! The world is falling apart but you Gotta Produce. Gripped me from start to finish, and the shifting and mutating art is hypnotic, especially when driving, Great writing too. Just the right length.

I remember playing this interactive (reactive?) comic book as a teenager on a 5000-in-1 bootleg GBA cartridge. These duct-taped together dirty pixels and chunks of throbbing meat helped me overcome my depression back then and they did it again in 2022. One of my games of the year!

One of the better adventure games I've played. Although it's fairly short, PRODUCER 2021 has a surprising amount of depth and attention to detail. The soundtrack fits the game perfectly and has many tracks I'll be listening to outside of the game. The writing is funny and sad, the world is beautiful and disgusting. The game is great, go play it!

A fantastically creepy pixel-crunched ‘non-horror’ narrative with some damn clever writing to it. It’s seriously intriguing and the simple yet elaborate dialogue system is interactive enough to let you investigate, make choices, and solve problems at your own pace and in the order that you want to. I adore the unnaturally normal tone that comes from how typical the decaying world is for all the amorphous characters. The game is uneasy in the best possible way and quite frequently funny as well.

Love this game. I guess it's an adventure game if you're speaking mechanically, but it doesn't have very much of the frustrations that are normally associated with that genre. Maybe because the text helps narrate you so clearly, and that it's less concerned with making you feel special for clever associations and more trying to tell you a story or convey some humor.

Vapor-wavey and dank, a truly strange game. Wonderful graphics, amazing music, and great writing. A philosophical story that was perfect for me because I just had quit my job. I'm still wondering whether there was something I could have bribed the fat fish with successfully

Absolutely adored this little narrative gem about productivity during the apocalypse. The writing is funny, poetic, and sad. The music is wonderfully funky, and the visuals beatiful in a Lynchian-nightmare-kinda way.
Only takes a couple hours finish, Definitely worth the price of entry.

Short. Funny. A happy game for sad people. Brittle and beautiful, it stands out amongst the trash. Personal yet weirdly all-embracing, like assembled poetry. Amazing yet clawful pun(s)! Makes you think about think69ng. Hehe. This joke will never grow old. Like the toast and pickles I'll never get. Hm. Tasty. Deep. Like a puddle of weird juice. The effect might be fleeting...but the impact is forever. Really glad I p(l)ayed!

If you ever wondered what a producer does, you should play this game... there havent been a better answer to this question imo!

This game is weird but can hit hard at times... Loved the driving sections!
The soundtrack was fantastic (was expecting that!!!, what a composer!)

If 10 bucks is a suitable price for this experience in general is hard to say, but this was definetly the case for me...
Heeeyaw!

i was put off at first because i don't really enjoy absurd-ish humorous stuff, but this game quickly proved to be much more than that. did not expect producer 2021 to be this real.

the sprites look somewhat crude, but are used in very creative ways especially when it comes to motion. banger music. a lot of interesting/funny interactions that may not necessarily have anything to do with the story.

up to you if it's worth the full price. to me it definitely is.

PRODUCER 2021 is a hard game to compare to other games. Calling it a two-hour visual novel is accurate, but feels wrong. Despite having a main path and keeping you relatively close to it, the entire thing makes you feel like you're fishing around in nooks and crannies (and I mean that as a positive).
It's weird, it's got a unique visual style, and it definitely achieves what it sets out to do - so, it's a good game in my book. If you like Cronenberg movies, or I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, or anything you see in the game's trailer, I think you'll appreciate this.

i was reeled in by this game's raw visuals and bodacious tunes and stayed for the worldbuilding and intrigue, definitely worth trying if u like big chunky stories with big chunky graphics and big chunky sounds told within the span of a couple hours
literally one of my top favourite games of the year and i'm Not kidding

This game proves paying 10 bucks for a 2 hour experience is nowhere near close to a waste of money. I absolutely love the art direction, the visualisation by seemingly endless textboxes that describe everything to the last breadcrumb and of course the amazing tunes by mr. HighHeels. Incredibly happy I bought this and I hope this game gets the recognition it deserves.

Very interesting adventure that is probably the closest thing I've ever played to playing a dream. Music is fantastic and aesthetic style is amazing. One of the most distinct games I've played in a while. I recommend it if you're into experimental storytelling and bold design.

You know what nobody does anymore? Collages with pictures from magazines. Sure, you can hit google image search and make a "meme" by pasting whatever you find there, but it's not the same thing. You're not taking nice, carpeted houses and artificially happy people, cutting them into pieces and pasting them into a monument to your anxieties.

Anyway, play PRODUCER 2021 (2022).

A visual novel / choose your own adventure game like you've never seen before. Great writing, fascinating concepts and themes. Hilarious and spooky and chill and exciting at various points. The Producer is always talking about how he loves that economy.

Can't wait for it to get cheaper for everyone.

Sue: I don't know.

I'm torn between "Don't look" and "How could you not?".

Both make me wanna barf.

But he's also kinda sexy when he cries.

Sue: Great.

Shaun is back.

Can I get my money back for the last time he was here?

When he didn't do anything interesting?

This time he's swanning around taking selfies and calling everybody "cute".

When they weren't even cute the last time he was here.

This time he's done nothing interesting.

Sue: Has he?

I don't recall seeing him in this bit.

Well, he might have done when I wasn't looking.

PRODUCER 2021 is a fantastically written adventure narrative game.

It's grimy and sad, yet funny and cosy.

If any of those adjectives describe you, then this is the game for you.

It clocks in at just under 2 hours to play, but you'll be thinking about it for much longer afterwards.

No-commentary playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy3Qk1WBhVI

Compelling story with quite a bit more freedom than you might expect. You've got items to collect, puzzles to solve, different locations to explore in the order of your choosing... And because of that, it really feels like a true adventure game at its core, as opposed to an on-rails visual novel with a few narrative decisions sprinkled in. Just make sure you exhaust as many dialogue options as possible whenever you can, otherwise you might miss something crucial to advancing your progress!
