Not sure why this game has a 90% positive rating. This is a trials type game (which I like) but it has is 2 giant flaws (which especially become a problem at later levels):

• Levels have no checkpoints: meaning if you fail on the last part of a map you have to start all over again, which becomes frustrating quick.

• The camera does not zoom out far enough to see what lie ahead, so you can't properly gauge your speeds since you simply don't know if you should slow down or speed up.

This is my biggest issue and basically makes the game unplayable at later levels. It's very frustrating to not be able to see what lay ahead especially on the later (more difficult) levels. This one point single handedly makes me not recommend this game lol.

TL;DR: For people who knows gravity defied and their mods, its good. CLASSIC.

Advantages

+ Good OST
+ Graphics design
+ Well optimization
+ Easy to learn, hard to master
+ Old game reference, it remind me a game named gravity defied by Codebrew Software
+ Workshop support (map)

Disadvantages

- I NEED MORE MAPS and BETTER MAP EDITOR!!!!!

Hill Climb Racing but in level chunks instead of one giant level.
Also gravity changing cuz why not.

In menu, controller navigation sucks but that's the only problem I had.
Oh, also, the game doesn't set the button index in the pause menu, if you press Start and then just A, it will crash

Good game if you used to enjoy tilty bike web games, but veers a little bit too often from the challenging into the tedious.

Some levels are a bit frustrating, but most of them are cleverly designed. Beautiful colors and relaxing music make up for a really enjoyable experience. Also, the procedural level is very addictive!

Trials meets LIMBO. What's not to like?

Psebay is an absolutely gorgeous take on the moto trial genre with vibrant levels that are fast and frustrating fun.

PROS:

Runs great: Psebay is a smartphone game that's well ported to PC with a neat and clean UI with controller support.

Graphics: The game's art style is visually pleasing with its atmospheric ambience, right from the swaying grass to that pretty depth of field.

Good physics: The game's mechanics are great. The Gravity Shift element is what sets this game apart.

Design: The levels are well planned with emphasis on timing your movement and shifting your weight rather than simply driving fast. Patience is key in the later, more complex levels.

Steam Workshop support: Play levels created by other players and share your own.

CONS:

Nothing really. Maybe, the name?

(I've experienced a bug that sometimes disables leaning with the controller. It resumes working with a quick restart)

VERDICT:

Psebay is one of those hidden indie gems on Steam that no one has or will ever hear of.
The game is fun for casual play, and for its price, Psebay seems to be worth checking out!

Really good Trials-style game!

The handling of the bike feels great, especially, when you throw a few upgrades on. The single-player is not terribly long, but there's a randomly generated Infinite level + Steam workshop support.

Definitely worth the money, if you're hungry for a game in the vein of Trials.

Edited review: a neat little Trials type of game with Limbo style graphics. Great controls and excellent atmosphere.

Original review: Game is literally broken. Doesn't even start.

Developer response that fixed the issue: Delete the file "settings.json" in the folder C:\Users\%YourName%\AppData\Local\Psebay

Plays alright except that leaning left (backwards does not rotate the bike backwards so level 13 will have you crash when the map rotates most of the time. You lean back to go up hills which should cause you to roll over backwards, even in the real world, so backflips are not feasible, and it's very difficult to lift the front tire.

* You can level up parts of the bike with stars from passing the tracks, but the first version of the rear wheel feels like it has almost no tire at all. In the 'Uphill Racing' style of mobile game, you can earn upgrade points (coins) without completing the track first, but here I feel that some users may encounter a level that they cannot pass if they upgraded their bike incorrectly as replaying the levels will not earn you more than the first 3 stars.

Trials Frontier and Elastomania have better control, every other 'Uphill Racing' type has better progression, and Elastomania has a track editor. It doesn't really bring in anything new other than the ambience and recent system compatibility, however you can share tracks easily so that may be enough for $5-10.

I bought this because I was always intrigued by the Trials Fusion serious which unfortunately is not avaivailable on SteamOS/Linux. The gameplay looks similar but other than that I can't compare them. However what I can say is that I really enjoyed the premade levels of Psebay! I finished them in 2 sessions on a single day. I actually rally like short games but for those who want more there is: You can try to get a 3 star rating on each and then there are community levels. I also like the art style which I believe is rather timelss compared to a realistic style. Further controls are really good. At least when using a Steam Controller.

exie//exxy

PROS:

-Simple objective: Get from Point A to Point B in a set time to get 3⭐.
-A bit thrilling. You 'fly around' in the levels with the help of speed, momentum & gravity manipulator.
-BEAUTIFUL.Art style is similar to LIMBO, except there are charming, colorful palette. What you see in screenshots is
what you exactly get.
-Loaded with built-in Level Editor 2.0 and WorkShop intergration for Community Levels, allowing players to get creative with their own level creation.
There are around 45 levels at the moment.
-Awesome. Background. Music.

CONS:

-No Checkpoint. If you die, you have to start over from the beginning. Some player are mad because of this.

BTW, YOU MAY WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME IF...

-You want try out something different in Moto Trial genre
-Enjoy casual games.
-Want to chill a bit, because some levels are obviously hard
-You want to experience tranquility, accompanied by the good experimental BGM, at few levels

Cannot be more pleased at how amazing this game is.
Legendary.
Chilled.
One button masterpiece.
IF you watching you Strangers Things™ you know the upside down.
This game makes you part of the upside-down as the levels evolve.
What's more? Level creator mode- via you, upload to community, to play,
Infinite Mode ∞
It's amazing. A steal when on special. Wow.
Im stuck on the level of 7 seconds, to go through three upside-downs to win;
You can also upgrade your bike with stars you win as the currency. Your driver, engine and wheels are all upgradeable. It's really cool. Simplified, yet super stylistic, and physics based. Your head hits the ceiling, and driver is downed.
This is better than MX vs ATV in quite a few ways.
It's also lite-puzzle-vibes.
Had to play before bed ♥
BUG NOTE:
Controller friendly -Steam Big picture
I think I experienced a glitch -> my xbox one started vibrating in my hands MADLY as i was quitting the game after a 20th death? :/ not really cool. but that's the biggest bug I've witnessed. It let me quit smoothly with the controller and when the game quit, it immediately stopped.

Fun little game that reminded me a lot of those flash games i used to play in school..

game took a little bit of time to complete 100% but even then the work shop offers many maps to keep you playing.

It's ok for half price.

It's pretty much a bad trials. No restart button so you have to go into the menu to restart when you get stuck in parts of the poorly designed levels and cant fall off.

It was an ok game for 3 quid when i was bored but its a purchase for when you are really bored.

Doubt i'll play it again

thought it was a game like "trials" - it is not.
sure, it might be a small dev team but i really did not enjoy this game...
controls are wacky, the level editor likes to freeze the whole game, achievements seem broken.

Originally got this on mobile but then bought it again on steam - it's just that fun. At the time of writing this review, it's my go-to inbetween game. Nice one

The real challenge is working out how to say the name

Whenever I had Psebay running and my friends asked what I was playing, I was always stumped as to what to answer. Seabay? Suhbay? Psybay? I often just admitted I wasn't sure how to pronounce the title, but Psebay really is a neat little game which I've managed to squeeze more hours out of than I had ever expected to.

The comparisons to Playdead's 'Limbo' aren't unfounded. Both share a minimalist art style where the character exists as a silhouette on a two-dimensional plane, and both centre around a core gameplay loop which involves attempting to avoid environmental traps, and learning from your errors upon repeat attempts. Both manipulate gravity as a mechanic, and both are set in similar environments, ranging from caverns to grassy plains.

G R A P H I C S
Psebay looks great. The choices in colour are fantastic, and every level feels rich in tone. It's simple, but confidently so.

S O U N D
The sound design is also pretty great. When you take a moment to breathe, the ambient noise of the wind in trees is an eerie but simultaneously relaxing soundscape.

G A M E P L A Y
The gameplay is mostly good. There are a set of levels designed by the developers, varying in difficulty with some being considerably trickier than others. That being said, there aren't too many overly challenging levels. The aim - in the vein of a mobile game - is to get 3 stars on a level, and doing so on every level can be achieved in a few hours without much trouble. Where the game goes the distance (no pun intended) however is ENDLESS MODE, the best and worst mode in the game.

Endless mode is unlocked after completing every level with at least a 1 star rating. It drops you into a randomly generated hilly terrain, and leaves it up to you to see how long you survive. Initially, the most difficult achievement in the game was attaining a distance of over 250 (Kilometers? Who knows what the measure is), but the developers since went back and added achievements for both 500 and 1000. I've gotten frustratingly close scores in the 400's before, but 500 still remains out of reach after over 26 hours of gameplay. This is due to the fact that endless mode is randomly generated. It's impressive enough to get past 250, as the game can occasionally spawn geometry that the player has no means of climbing. Other times, you're put in a position where you need considerable speed to clear a gap, but find that the amount of run-up distance you have is far from enough, due to either a wall or deathtrap log behind you. Finding a balance between taking the risk of going full-speed through sections mixed with caution of knowing where to slow down and drive cautiously is key to getting a good score. Thereafter, player skill is the main determining factor. It takes extreme luck and skill for a player to reach 1000, and I applaud the 0.1% of players at the top of the leaderboard that have attained such a feat legitimately.

Psebay is a pretty good time. It's simple, but it looks sharp and plays well. Moreover, unlike Trials: Gold Edition it doesn't require Uplay to function.

Disclaimer: My scores/reviews are almost always based on having bought the game at close to the "lowest historical price" on steam at time of purchase.

Quick score: 4/5

Notes: Coming from someone who has probably over 3,000+ hours on the Trials franchise, this game is actually surprisingly decent.

My only real complaint is that the limbo aesthetic, while nice, could have used a bit more evolution and variation as you progressed. And also there were a couple extremely obnoxious levels and difficulty spikes which accounted for probably 90% of my deaths.

In terms of overall difficulty, personally I would say its on the lower end, but my perception is completely skewed because I'm better at this type of game than 99.9% of people. In trials terms I don't think any level gets above medium/hard difficulty.

While it doesn't even come close to competing with any game in the trials series, its a nice addition to the genre and worth picking up for a few hours of gameplay if you have already thoroughly played Trials Evo/fusion/rising. If you haven't played the trials series however, you should definitely skip this and go play those instead.

Achrotone
Achrotone

I initially went into Psebay expecting something along the lines of Elasto Mania or the Trials franchise with a Limbo twist, but I know now that I was mistaken. Here were my issues with this game:

- Bike upgrades that are (partially) gated behind paid DLC, with little options for customization and/or experimentation (from what I tried to figure out on my own, the only way to play around with bike upgrades is to reset all your progress)
- Price is too high for the amount of content and challenge that is offered by the game, even on a sale (to add on to this, I earned the "Champion" achievement in less than 2 hours, and was left feeling unsatisfied)
- Controls can be finicky and inconsistent, and the physics is rather awkward in general
- Achievement design did not seem to be thought out very well

I acknowledge that the developer made a genuine effort to making a presentable and entertaining game, but the issues I've laid out held the entertainment value back by a lot. Ultimately, Psebay wasn't worth my time, nor will it be for you.
