tl;dr:
Cute graphics, nice sound design & music, balanced difficulty, but lacks real customs levels (workshop ?), the dog playground has too few interactivity, and the levels are organised in a strange order.

More:
What I like: The colored nonogram are well designed. The dog theme fits well with the chill experience of nonograms.
What could be improved: dogs playground: the sound of the dogs are the same but with different tone. I would have prefered if they had unique barks.
What I didn't like: It feels weird to see a 5x5 after completing a 20x20 after competing a world. I expected world 1 to be full of 5x5, world 2 10x10 etc ... I don't like the randomized nonograms, since there's no image to discover.

The price: Ok. 9€ for (estimated) 10h of play.

Can you pet the dog ? Yes... yes you can

It's Picross, but with each grid you unlock new content for your puppy zen garden!

There's 100 premade puzzles for the base game, with a good difficulty curve. The last ones took me between 10 and 20mn to complete, so you have your money's worth of game time with the base content.

After that, there's a mode that gives you infinite procedurally generated grids.

The game is super cute, fun and challenging, bug-free. If you like Picross don't hesitate!

Great game!
The tutorial is very helpful, I've never played a picross game before, but I like dogs, so it's a perfect way to understand the gameplay.

Well level designed and really really cute.
I can't wait to get all the doggos !!!

I didn't now nonograms before I played this game and it was the perfect to learn the basics !
The dogs are all georgeous and you can, between two grids, create your own garden with many dogs and decorations. It is as fantastic as it is cute !
I really recommend it and it is a MUST HAVE if you love dogs !

Very cute, but not really worth full price. The puzzles are fun, and I enjoy unlocking the dogs and decorations for the garden. However, there aren't many features for the picross compared to other games; most annoyingly, there's no mode where mistakes aren't immediately pointed out, meaning you can misclick and spoil yourself. Also, the options aren't explained at all so I don't understand what they do. There's no interactivity in the park; you can put a lot of toys out for the dogs, but they'll never use them or do anything but bark when you click them.

Nice game, unfortunatly some features are still missing (but yet to come) to draw the picross faster but its originality and this ambiance rescue the game. Had a pretty nice time solving these puzzles, it's a thump's up !

I really wish this game was longer.

I wish the game had more long-lasting content, because by the time I finished everything 100% even after the cats dlc, I just felt sad and empty to move on from it. I was happy to even get the cats dlc, which was definitely enjoyable.

Honestly, I got this game and played through it at a time where my life has hit rock bottom and everything just feels awful. The sheer silly cuteness and sillyness and dogness of this game was a comfy comfort in that time. This is just a nice innocent little game, it feels like if you found a cheap eshop game on the nintendo 3ds or something and really liked it. Like, this game is a puppy.

The little shiba inu that talks to you and smiles in the interface if you get a good row or column, that's awesome. And the cat version is cool too. The dalmation representing the infinite mode looks a little bit like satoru iwata somehow, hehe. The music has this indie nintendo chiptune feel to it, which feels really cute and innocent and likable; like in one of the puzzle themes there's a few notes that are clearly off tune like a bit sharp I think, but it still fits the not-taking-itself-too-seriously vibe of the music and overall game. It's also neat to decorate everything and just be silly with it and pet the cute doggies and cattos.

So if you're into that kind of stuff, and if you find 5x5 to 20x20 picross to be a relaxing experience, then this could definitely also be a nice enjoyable game for you.

But honestly yeah, my main critique is just that I wish the game had a bit more content, cause it felt over too soon. 5x5 to 20x20 is on the easy side if you've played a buncha picross, and the game has a buncha quality-of-life features that make things go by even faster, like autofilling a complete row with X's. Maybe the game could have used some 25x25 to 40x40 puzzles like in other puzzle games, I dunno. Or like a dozen more level packs.

And my secondary critique of the game is that there's not enough interactivity with the doggios. Everything is honestly decorative, only really being tied to a few achievements if you try to figure out different decoration combinations for just that sake. But there's no sort of puzzle element, or rpg element, or cute little story progression with cute doggy characters, or sim element, all stuff I think could have made the dog stuff more nicely substantial. Hopefully if the developers have any ambitions to make a sequel they can make Puppy Picross Adventure or Puppy Puzzle Playground or Picross Puppy Life.

That aside though, it's gonna be sad returning to a life without Puppy Cross. The other picross games with more picross content dont have this level of cute puppy charm. My life is still in the dumps and everyday feels awful and this innocent happy little game definitely helped stave some of it off. So hopefully Puppy Cross gets more content updates or such. By the way, the dalmation mode definitely does not help replayability either. This is where I think rpg elements or story elements or like an inventory and shop and reward system with items could have helped add more to the game, because there's honestly no incentive to complete dalmation puzzles except a 50 and 100 puzzle achievement, which can easily be grinded at the 5x5 level either way (and I wish the game visually kept track of the puzzles completed towards this achievement too).

Either way though, I'm thankful I came across this game and had the chance to play it. Thank you Puppy Cross devs for making this little cute happy innocent silly game.

Do you love picross? Do you love puppers? Well, this is a great game, and it gives me a feeling of accomplishment I don't usually get completing these little puzzles. Yes, I know it's silly to enjoy this barebones simulation of dogs and their toys, but I love dogs. This is why this game is the best picross game I have ever played, and the one which makes me feel the happiest. (The puzzles themselves are also quite good.)

I heard about this game in a french podcast and bought it to support the developer.

This game is ok, i'll just state the reasons why i stopped playing after a while if it can help :
- animations are slowww, and you have to wait for them to be over to click to enter a menu for example, this gave me frustration
- it's probably made for kids : really easy, not "efficient" enough is your point is playing the game
- the overly "cute" style disturbs me (that's entirely subjective)

I'll still recommend this game cause it does the job and is working well. I'd advise to buy it while on sale maybe !

A cute, fun and simple game to get your brain working.

There's something for everyone who is a fan of this kind of game in Puppy Cross, there's easy levels, hard levels, an endless mode and puzzles that were actually pretty challenging to complete at times, AND a free kitty DLC for when you're done with the base game, in total giving you around 16 hours of content not even taking into account the endless mode.

Plus you can pet the dogs and the cats, I think that says enough on it's own.

If you like picross (aka what I refer to as "baby sudoku" :D), this game is exactly what it looks like. There's a range of grid sizes, from 5x5 to 20x20, and they start scaling larger as you progress through the worlds. There's also an infinite randomly generated mode, too, once you're out of tailored content but want to keep going, and plenty of nice quality-of-life features too.

If you enjoy Picross/Nonogram games, this is a nice little game to pick up and enjoy!

Pros:
-You can, indeed, pet the dogs (and cats!)
-The music kind of slaps. There's enough variety in the tracks that none of them really overstay their welcome.
-Dalmatian mode lets you generate random puzzles to play once you're done with the main puzzles. However, the game does give you a disclaimer that sometimes these puzzles can have multiple solutions due to their random nature, and this mode does not give you any guidance as to whether or not you've made a wrong move.
-Lots of different dog breeds to collect and put into your garden, and many different objects you can place to liven things up as well. I made a cute little flowery play area with butterflies and honeybees and placed lots of cute toy dogs like the shih tzu and pekingese and watching them play is very adorable.
-If you're familiar with Hungry Cat Picross, I vastly prefer these cute dogs watching your gameplay over the cats in HCP, lol. If you accidentally make a wrong move in here, the dog will look mildly upset, but it won't give you that "I am so disappointed in you" squint and head shake the HCP cat does. Proof that dogs are indeed better than cats. ;3

Cons:
-As I've seen in other reviews, the animations can be irritatingly slow at times (namely puzzle completion animations and especially the dalmatian mode completion animation). You're unable to skip these animations so it's kind of a pain.
-Some of the secret achievements are very difficult to figure out, and you will likely need a guide if you don't want to experiment with trial-and-error, since they involve specific arrangements of dogs and objects that act as references to pop culture. The Animal Crossing, Monopoly, and Simpsons references were very clever and cute, though!
-For a Picross veteran, this game is rather short (most of my playtime came from leaving the game running all day while I was at work, oops). You're going to get the majority of your gameplay from the kitty dlc, so make sure you pick it up when you're done with the puppy puzzles. I found the kitty puzzles very fun because they're mega-picross puzzles, if you're familiar with those.
-To add to the above, the game progression is a little weird, as each 8-stage "world" starts with easy 5x5 puzzles and gradually progresses to the harder 20x20 puzzles. Most picross games have all of the 5x5s at the start of the game and the final parts of the game are the 20x20s.
-As cute as the garden area is, there really isn't a lot of substance to it. In reality, you're making a bit of a screensaver, since the only real interactions you have with the dogs (and cats) is clicking on them to hear them bark (or meow). It would have been cute to play fetch with the puppies by clicking and releasing a ball or play with the kitties using a click-and-hold feather toy.

Overall, this is a cute and harmless little picross game that's definitely worth checking out (maybe when it's on sale though). Definitely don't pass up the DLC; it's free and adds a lot to the overall experience of the game.

So I wanted to wait until I completed the game before writing a review. I've got 24 hours into it and I finally beat the game, collected all the achievements AND completed the "Kitty Cross" DLC as well.

This game is amazing.

It's what you'd expect from a Picross game, but the addition of having a little garden and some dogs to tend to is exactly what I needed. It adds a LOT of charm to the game, and gives you a little more of a prize other than the typical "Here's the picture you uncovered!" that you get to look at for 3 seconds before the game shuffles you into the next puzzle. The garden area also gives you a little rest in between puzzles, which is nice for when you've FINALLY beaten that one you messed up on and had to restart 3 times and you just need a breather (lol).

There's a surprising amount of levels, and then additional content that is unlocked as you play (Dalmation Mode). On top of that, there is free DLC that gives you MORE puzzles and MORE items to collect. And cats. Because cats are also awesome.

This is a puzzle game at heart, so don't expect any sort of story. But if you like picross games like I do, this is a variation that is well worth the price. You can tell a lot of love went into this game, and it's just so dang charming. $12 is definitely a fair price, but hey, if you're unsure, catch it on sale. I definitely feel like I got my money's worth out of it.

Base game with the puppy picross and aranging the garden is chill and awesome.

If you are an "advanced" Picross player, you have got a random mode when you can play in 5x5, 10x10, 15x15 or 20x20.
After 100 hours, I played everything, the "random" layouts are already-seen.

Have fun and play moderately.

Played all the way through, got all the achievements, including the ones for the kitty dlc :D It's very cute and a good picross style game-- if you like those then you'll like this, easy. My only thoughts are that it feels short, but that might honestly be because I'm pretty fast at these. A lot of my time "played" is from me pausing the game to tab away and do other stuff, lol. I hope they keep releasing dlc for it, the kitties were a cute touch! My fave is the catnip reaction. ;D Thanks!!

An adorable picross game where you can collect puppos by playing puzzles. The challenge is pretty good and it should last a few hours depending on how familiar you are with how black and white picross works. Overall I'd say pick it up on sale if you get the chance to
