This was a well written visual novel. Normally I am not a fan of horror games, but this one hooked me. I liked how the characters were set up and introduced, and the way the game had you loop through things a few times to piece together the entire story. I'd post more but I don't want to spoil this game, so will just say get it and play it. You will not regret it.

A great game straight up ruined

That final route felt like they ran out of time and just threw something together. Are you seriously going to turn a a supernatural story into a oh it's actually humans with a surveillance network and sleepy gas. Really. Just..... REALLY!?! You are going to make us go through all of that to find out it's scooby doo shenanigans.

Then there's the sheep. Oh surprise, yeah that's actually your ex who can control dreams and works for the government. Thanks for throwing that out of left field with literally no real build up. Like i know the shopkeeper was suspicious but it's still a giant stretch to throw that in there.

Then theres what happened to Rikako at the ending.. That was just straight up creepy forcing her to stay with Kiyonosuke who basically came off as a creepy love struck stalker,

Then there's the massive text dump which only really made sense if you had a good level of kanji knowledge, otherwise it was just a whole lot of babble. Like i understand that is straight up impossible to translate an all so i don't really blame them, but yeah.

The only part li liked about that ending is finding out the protag wasn't who he said he was, that was genuinely clever and hinted at throughout the story and a really nice twist with the promise.

Oh and don't get me started with the final confrontation with the wolves.

There was alot of good here, and all the routes up to the final one were really good, but no after reading that one i straight up can't recomend it.

A real hidden gem of a VN. The mystery is consistently rewarding to discover, the characters are fun and refreshing, and the art is unique and well realized. The only downsides I'd say are that at the start and at the end the game takes away control for a bit too long. However, it all serves a purpose and I can't say that it was not worth it in the end.

The premise of Raging Loop is as simple as it is genius. City boy somehow finds himself arriving at a remote village and gets entangled in a real-life game of werewolf/mafia. Yes, in a sense this is basically anime amogus.

Story

Every night one of the villagers will be killed by the wolves who are presumably part of the village themselves. Once the next evening comes around, everyone has to participate in 'the Feast' to try and identify who the killers are. And yes, the identification process is indeed a straight up lynching of whoever the majority suspects.

If that wasn't enough, Haruaki simply does not want to stay dead! As the name 'Raging Loop' already implies, our protagonist is stuck in a loop where he gets sent to the beginning of the game with all his memories intact whenever he dies. Which will happen a lot. This is honestly a great choice as it allows the protagonist to make mistakes and gather information in the same way the player does, making him always just as knowledgeable as us. Vital clues will be presented in the form of keys, which are used to unlock previously grayed out choices that will lead to new routes. And you can be sure he will make use of said clues because Raging Loop's protagonist is surprisingly smart.

And also deranged and lowkey creepy. Which the game is aware of and acknowledges multiple times throughout the story. Honestly, I found this to be a welcome breath of fresh air considering this medium often loves to feature either bland nobodies with as much personality as a stale piece of white bread OR complete creepshows with not a hint of self awareness as their protagonists. Points for that!

The rest of the characters are great too. It is immediately apparent that there's a lot of depth to pretty much all of them, making conversing with the villagers super engaging. The dynamic of the outsider protagonist vs the traditionalist smalltown community only adds to the constant feeling of danger and you're never really sure who you can trust.

Sound & Visuals

In terms of production values, I've seen some people call Raging Loop's artstyle ugly which I personally gotta disagree with. It really suits the dark and grimy tone of the story and some of those CGs are honestly top notch.
What's even more impressive is the music though. If this game's soundtrack was on Spotify I can guarantee it'd show up in my wrapped at least once. On multiple occasions I straight up stopped reading just to listen to the music for a while. Real good stuff.
Raging Loop is also fully voice acted by what appears to be a cast of almost exclusively newbie voice actors. I was completely surprised when I first heard this because you'd never think so based on their performances. All of them did an amazing job, especially whoever did the protagonist because making that comically bizarre douchebag come to life is not an easy task whatsoever.

The Big Oopsie

All of the above makes for one of the most engaging visual novels I've ever read. The story is suspenseful, the characters interesting, the pacing unbelievably tight... right up until you hit the ~90% completion mark. Of your first playthrough, that is.

I won't be spoiling any explicit plot points but will talk about what bothered me in as general a manner as possible from here on out but just in case, here's your warning if you just wanna experience the whole thing for yourself with zero expectations.

The issue with this game's climax is two-fold: both the way it was told as well as the actual content are... mind boggling considering the quality of everything up until that point. Huge, shoddily written info dumps back to back just after we got slapped with one of the silliest plot twists ever created, painful tonal whiplash because for some ungodly reason we keep switching moods every other scene during what is supposed to be the grand culmination of surviving loops of a death game, plot points get partially or completely ignored and half the things that do get addressed I just sorta wish weren't because the explanations given are unsatisfactory to say the least... and then it ends in the most cliched and contrived way you could possibly think of.

I was left dumbfounded, staring at my screen at 4 AM wondering if I simply fell asleep and will experience the actual Good Ending™ as soon as I woke up. This, of course, did not happen...

...but I did get something else instead. You might've heard of this game's 'Revelation Mode', a sort of New Game Plus with bonus scenes from different perspectives and additional inner thoughts from not only Haruaki but everyone else as well. Sounds like a neat little bonus right? EXCEPT IT'S NOT A BONUS AT ALL!!! Revelation Mode is, for all intents and purposes, part of the main story. Remember all of the shit that wasn't addressed after your first playthrough? Yeah, a good chunk of that gets addressed here. Hope you enjoy either replaying the entire game immediately after finishing it (25-50 hours depending on whether or not you listen to the voice acting) or skipping through the entire thing bit by bit until you stumble upon a couple new lines of text (which the game is at least nice enough to automatically pause at) which will probably make you look at the history anyway because you have no clue what context you're currently in.

Ignoring Revelation Mode would be like stopping when you're 80% through any other regular story. Not only are there many plot points that do not seem to make sense without the additional information, there is at least one character who spends the ENTIRE game literally just being a giant question mark and is only explained in NG+. In addition to Revelation Mode you also unlock a bunch of side stories when you first finish the game... which also include decently important stuff not touched upon in the main game. These are freely accessible from the main menu though, so I don't find them as egregious.

But let's say none of that bothers you and you go through all the Revelation Mode and extra story content.

Things do start to make more 'sense'(eeehhh), but as I mentioned before it is not just the way that information is presented that makes the finale so wack, a lot of the twists and explanations are just... really not good in my opinion. It's hard to talk about without spoilers but it basically goes from cleverly written psychological thriller to cartoonishly unserious C-Tier-anime garbage in the blink of an eye. There are a few things I ended up liking, such as the history of the village and the motivations of some characters (not HERS though lol) but a lot more I just... hate. A few characters I even consider kinda ruined in the end, which is a shame considering how much I enjoyed them up until that point.

Conclusion

All that rambling about the ending makes it sound like I hate Raging Loop, but I genuinely don't. I stand by the fact that most if it is straight up amazing. You'll be glued to your screen for hours if you're intrigued by its premise. I'm just really disappointed that one of the easiest 9/10s ever had be marked down to a... idk/10 just because the author had to be like 'ahhhh feelin real quirky rn🤪'

I'll still give it an easy recommendation, just... temper your expectations accordingly

In a nutshell: bad structure with info-dumps, too long, crappy ending.

Pros:
- unique art and decent music;
- scenario chart is neat (but could've been better for PC controls);
- feasts are fun at times.

Cons:
Game can be divided into 4 linear segments: three Mafia-like games and epilogue where everything is resolved. You play them in order, as the game is linear. First segment is short and intriguing. It tells us that (minor spoiler of first 1-2 hours) rules can be broken and that the feast itself does not matter that much due to time loop.
Here comes absolutely ugly second segment which is 10 hours long, answers almost no questions, has cringeworthy romance and feast itself is rather bland. But does it get better? Yes, third segment is really better: it is shorter, it is more fun due to Hashimoto and protagonist role, but it still feels kinda meaningless to the overall plot and relation with Haru is rather awkward. The feast finishes with WhatTheHeck ending and real deals starts.

At this moment I've spent 20 hours reading VN and it was obvious early (4-5 hours in) that the feast itself is not that important but we still follow protagonist trying to win feast doing almost nothing meaningful to uncover the truth.
Writers spent these long hours to leave hints. But there is a TINY problem. Those hints kinda suck and do not work without shit ton of additional information. And epilogue starts dumping that information.

Main mysteries at this point are nature of looping and nature of the feast. And honestly answers weren't worth it.

To explain nature of the feast writers dump on us history of villages/religion and wordplay with kanji which felt extremely boring. The conclusion here is rather simple idea (no magic) that probably any sane reader considers but rejects due to how contrived and meaningless it would be. Nope, it is really that contrived and utterly meaningless.

Side-by-side with that contrived feast we have obvious magic: looping/gods and Cthulhu.
We are half an hour from the ending and we go to confront somewhat hinted antagonist.. who has to dump more information as we do not know shit about motivation and actions of this character.
And we finally understand that mastermind was evil fanatic cliche whom we "defeat" in a laughably stupid way (considering both promise and Meiko).

In the end we have a story which had so little details in 3/4 parts that had to rely on massive info-dumps in epilogue to provide contrived, unsatisfying and incomplete explanations for what has happened. After the ending game suggests reader to replay and see new bits of information which were hidden, meaning that epilogue info-dumps were not enough. I consider it bad writing and do not recommend this VN.

So this is the first visual novel from Kemco that I ever heard of, I thought they only did mobile RPG like games such as Band of Monsters. This visual novel is definitely shorter than others I have read. Its also not a very scary Visual Novel and there are no jump scares. My time listed on the visual novel is not accurate since I would window the game at times and do something for several hours.

The premise of the game is bit interesting, the art style is a bit similar to Danganronpa and the voice acting is fine/good. The soundtrack does get old kinda quickly since it is a smaller soundtrack.

However, it does not live up to its high rating on Steam and I do not recommend buying it until it has a good sale. The story is just ok (it never really gets fleshed out enough) and there are times through out the story that makes you wonder if events really had to happen the way they did or makes you question the protagonists line of thinking.

But as you will find in other Steam reviews about this game, it takes a large nosedive in the last quarter of the story or so and everything kind of wraps up poorly in an almost Scooby-Doo-esq fashion, relying on a lot narrative/info dumping instead of properly writing it into the story and also the way everything just wraps up and concludes really sours the experience.

So why I am a recommending it? I would like to see Kemco improve on their story writing and if they release another visual novel, hopefully it is at least moderately better than this. Though I have to stay if it was any worse this would be a definite non-recommendation for me. Also, Steam really needs to create a third and fourth option for reviewing with mixed feeling recommendations.

I'm a sucker for mystery/horror visual novels. They might very well be my favourite type of game. I love higurashi, Umineko, zero escape, danganronpa, the letter etc.
I'm saying this because I know my opinion is very biased.

The plot, atmosphere and the characters in this game are great.
It's not a very high budget game though. It has no gameplay elements, no cutscenes, no animations (sometimes the characters blink, but they don't move their mouths)
It does however utilize a flowchart, with an interesting key system. It also has soundtracks and voice acting. (MC is voiced too, only his thoughts aren't)

Mystery games are rly hard to reccomend without stepping into a spoiler territory. My best advise would be: Play it blind.

However if you need some convincing I will spoiler the first 2 hours of the game or so:

MC gets lost and gets directed into a remote village that isn't even on the map.
He crashes his bike and crosses a Saranaga River (The villagers believe that it was a place from which dead people come to life and consider it a bad omen)
He was getting prepared to leave, however unfortunetly for him the feast has begun.

If you're still not convinced here's a spoiler for the general premise, (It gets revealed roughly 3 hours into the game) :

It's based on the werewolf board game. Several villagers turn into a werewolf, they can kill one person per night. Few of the villagers have special power that help them identify a wolf.

Whenever our main character dies, he retains his memories. Dying is necessary to progress, as certain death scenes will grant you keys and you will be able to make different choices at certain parts of the story. Thanks to the flowchart you can jump to the scene you want without having to skip through all the dialogue

The main character is also very likeable.
He isn't stupid, not a wimp, not a giga Chad, he feels quite human.

Raging Loop is the result of taking the traditional communication game of "Werewolf" and turning it into a visual novel. The result is achieved by creating a setting where the game itself and it's rules make some sense in the setting they get presented, which for this game is an old tradition of a hidden Japanese settlement. At first the rules may feel kind of forced, however the writers took care to properly give meaning to them within the game lore, where they fall in place properly.

The game puts you in the shoes of a young man who accidentally stumbles into a village where they hold this Feast to purge the wolves, however, for some reason, when he dies, he is able to loop back to the beginning of the incident with his memories, allowing him to make changes to his actions and create new branches that will lead to different outcomes. This reminded me of the Zero Escape series where multiple timelines split up and the protagonists need the information of other timelines to solve a greater mystery. Something similar happens in here where the protagonist can use his previous loop memories to achieve a better outcome, or straight up generate a new set of results. There are many big mysteries surrounding the village and the protagonist is aiming to get to the bottom of them. The story presents many unexpected twists that add to the mysteries as well, and it is very engaging.

Even after the main game has been cleared, a new option to see other character's thoughts or conversations gets unlocked, which lets you see other sides of the story when replaying it, and even help answer more of the many questions the game has. There are also additional epilogue extra stories that do this as well.

Overall this VN was extremely enjoyable, as someone who enjoys the Werewolf game and stories multiple branching but linked timelines, it's fully voice acted (in Japanese) and its pretty lengthy as well. Heavily recommended.

I'm a bit lost in how I feel about this one. This visual novel feels far too "gamey", the dialog feels forced and unnatural, and the characters aren't really personable. The concept sounds good, but in practice so far it's falling flat for me. Nothing has grabbed me so far.

So what do I mean by "gamey"? It feels too much like you're playing a literal card/board game with people as they speak too easily about what is happening, how the special powers work and how they so easily decide on the life or death choices.

The dialog feels unnatural. Granted it's a translation and while I'm not noticing anything egregious, it just doesn't sound like things people would say or do.

I'll continue to play this and maybe it will hook me at some point, but after 5 hours I was kinda hoping for more. I'd rate it currently a 2.5/5 at the moment. Okay, but not great.

I hate to admit that I regrettably did not follow the warning at the beginning of the game to take breaks and not to stay up all night playing this game due to it's length. That said, this game has great art, a compelling story, and well written characters. I will admit that I hoped to feel more like I was personally unraveling a mystery like in the Danganronpa games but I doubt the structure would allow that for long. That said, If you like Visual Novel Horror then give this game a shot.
That said I got it due to my Obsession with the Idea of Time Loops.

The game has plenty of good points in its favor. The core premise of a Werewolf-style mystery game is good and the setting and characters both contribute to it. I generally enjoyed the first two thirds or so and was interested to see how it would all be tied together.

But there are two main issues that really bring the game down for me.

First is that the game's central premise never felt fleshed out enough in terms of actual gameplay and writing. You are stuck in a time loop, keeping your memories each time you experience the game. Yet, apart from a handful of choices scattered about, nothing ever actually changes to reflect the knowledge you've acquired. Start a loop from the beginning knowing exactly who the werewolves are? Well your thoughts never actually change to reflect that. You are just as clueless and helpless as the first time unless you are reacting to a very specific choice. Ultimately, I can at least understand this flaw but it does still bring the game down. One of the interesting aspects of a game like Werewolf is just all the different ways things can go depending on how people act. Different choices for the wolves' target and investigations and accusations can all go a lot of different ways normally. But in Raging Loop, the choices are limited (and almost always just lead to an immediate bad end if you choose incorrectly) so the game actually ends up being completely linear with few deviations.

Maybe that's just an issue with expectations, but given the inspiration they're working with and the opportunities it presents, Raging Loop takes what makes the original Werewolf such an interesting experience and diminishes it into a structure for telling a very linear and unchanging experience. I can understand why they did this, but it does leave a poor taste in my mouth.

Second, and the issue most other reviews point to, is that the ending is atrocious. I honestly don't even know how to express the sheer nosedive the story takes once you approach the ending, but rest assured that I am not exaggerating when I say it is one of the stupidest and most out-there resolutions I have ever seen to a mystery. Ever seen the resolution to a Professor Layton game? Well think of something along similar levels of bullshit to that.

So good fundamentals, but brought down by some structural issues that underdeliver on the game's potential and an atrocious resolution. The early stuff can still be interesting to play and I enjoyed my time with it enough that I don't feel cheated of my time and money, but its hard to recommend the game given its pretty significant flaws.

Maybe play it if this seems like something up your alley. There is still good content to be found, just know ahead of time that the buildup is a much greater experience than the payoff. [b[And don't touch any of the postgame content. Its not worth your time and retroactively makes the ending even worse.[/b]

Unfortunately I fell in the category of people who liked this game right up until the final story arc and then thought it just fell apart. Personally, I decided to pretend the game ended with the third arc and ignore the last one.

This game was so awesome, with such intriguing characters and so many mysteries and then it was like a different person wrote the ending. When I was in the middle of the story, I felt like there was only one thing they could do that would make the whole story totally stupid, and...they did it.

Basically, they Scooby-doo'd it. They made almost all of the highly supernatural events have an unsupernatural explanation. Almost all the crazy crap that happened throughout the story was staged by people. Except of course, the looping, that had it's own whacked out explanation.

So like a portion of the people on the page, I'm recommending three fourths of the story, not the whole thing.

I honestly feel a little betrayed by the story. If you're looking for a really well done mystery thriller that sets up questions and then provides amazing answers that truly pay off, I recommend The House of Fata Morgana.

I'm currently halfway through the game, and wow, has it been a ride. Plot twists and turns everywhere you go, and simply amazing characters! The story is refreshing and complex, the visuals are beautiful, and the atmosphere and music are just right. I would easily recommend this game to any mystery novel fan!

PROS
- A captivating story line.
- Visuals and effects are mostly well-sequenced.
- The atmospheric music sets the perfect tone.
- Keeps you guessing and on your toes the entire time.
- Unique in almost every way.

CONS
- The story drags on a little while in the intro, but quickly picks up the pace.
- The voice acting feels slightly out of place in the beginning of the novel.
- You might not enjoy this game if you aren't willing to handle lots of depressing stuff which continuously occurs throughout the game.
- If you're the type who needs an explanation for every mystery then then you might not prefer a game which does not spell out the answer for every problem.

Anyway, I suggest playing the game if you have even a little bit of interest towards it. I did, and I loved it!

It was an interesting and well-written visual novel and was hard to put down. It is a shame there is not a sequel for such a great game.

Raging Loop is a visual novel game that took me around 20 hours to complete. The game revolves around a small village that has some strange traditions where once in a while a mysterious fog appears and the villagers must play the famous werewolf game with its own twists and roles. You the mc are an outsider that soon discovers that you have an ability to loop and go back in time. The mc will participate in the werewolf game to try and change the future and get the good ending. While playing the game will always change and you will constantly be discovering a lot of lore about this mysterious village. You will also get to know every single villager and their backstories as you keep looping. I had a fun time playing through this visual novel and eventually really started to like certain characters. The game was fun for the all the way through for the most part. Around the 18 hour mark is when I started to lose interest, but I would still recommend.

I think it's overall a good VN with a strong concept - and a lot of suspense and thrills - but it struggled to really grip me on an emotional level and the ending spirals into... well, kind of absurdity compared to the relative normalcy of most of the game. Paced well and not overly tedious to read through, I enjoyed a lot of the characters, there's a -lot- of postgame content if you are willing to sit through it all (I think I had my fill by the end of the main story, unfortunately) and it's a good read that'll keep you invested, just not one that I feel particularly strongly about by the end.

A very weird implementation of the classic werewolf game as a Japanese visual novel.

Does it work?
Sort of.

The good: It's fully voiced in Japanese. The premise is great and the story starts off strong.
The bad: The 1990s character design is old and dated. The pacing is weird and the ending leaves much to be desired.
The ugly: Although it looks like a branching game with many different choices, it's not. It's a very linear game that you play in a predefined order.

The werewolf killing part is not bad, the protagonist's witty words and deeds should be said to be the extent that I can only barely keep up, but it is also good to let myself be pushed by that, enjoying the chaos and horror in my brain. In general, the analysis of fanatical beliefs and "the essence of werewolf killing is a political game" is deep enough, and the atmosphere is also very good. But I personally do not like this kind of ending. The original truth of everything is part of the human pretending to be a ghost, part of the more complex and paranormal event. Of course, everything is understandable, but to me,it's bored.

A surprisingly engaging visual novel, centred around the social deduction game “One Night Werewolf” and similar fare.

It’s low on interactivity, with most choices being choosing between the right one and the wrong one, with wrong ones branching for ten minutes at most before you’re killed off. It’s primarily driven through hitting endings to unlock new paths. Still, engagement comes through trying to be smarter than the characters when it comes to figuring who is a wolf. The author feels like they have a robust grasp of game theory, so every time there was a gathering there was fun to be had in watching it play out.

Sadly, the last few hours descend into nonsense. The game’s answers are less satisfying than its questions, and ultimately it poorly resolves a plot you likely didn’t give a toss about, instead of focusing on the game and characters that gripped you throughout the experience. It does this through a hefty dose of exposition dumping and deeply unsatisfying revelations that you either don't care about, that feel unearned, or feel like they're done for shock rather than to benefit the narrative. There’s also a weird pivot to a farcical tone in what was previously a horror

Despite this very weak resolution, I’d say the journey is worth it. If you're looking for a real social deduction VN game though, then get Gnosia instead.

Yeah this was good, engrossing, and definitely well-translated. Ending is a bit meh compared to the rest, but I think that's overblown. Would recommend especially on a steam sale. (Kemco please translate the other VN)

The basic premise of the game is the board game Werewolf, but it's a visual novel to the core so you are presented with limited options and the gameplay is just watching the outcome until you get the right ending. The story is fantastic though, and it gives you enough mysteries to keep you hooked until it all comes together. Even after finishing the game you can enable Revelations mode for extra joke endings and more information on what's going on in the game from other characters' point of view.

if you liked this or wanted a game with more of the Werewolf gameplay mechanics, Gnosia on the Switch is another visual novel but is played over several games of Werewolf. Town of Salem is Mafia online, which is a similar social game.

This is so close to being recommended, if you like Visual Novel games.

The entire thing is very well done (some caveats), until the very end, where it all falls apart. It's not "bad" but it's certainly not "great" either.

Problems;
Bloated script - this thing needs an editor like nobody's business. There are sections of the story that could be cut down and simplified to keep the pace going, as well as other parts being removed altogether, and would have no impact on the story or its outcomes.

Some Translation Issues - some mispelled words, commas missing, and sentence structures that require several read-throughs to understand.

Not enough branching paths for the theme of the story - It's a story about looping (among other things), but there's only 4 branches of storylines to go through. Given the mechanics of the plot, there should've been many more loops with differing outcomes and paths for the different roles. The story works without this, but it could certainly be better.

The Ending (Spoilers) - The main antagonist to the looping loses their powers by....the lights going out, something happening in the dark, and them being "knocked out" with no explanation as to how that removes/disables ALL of their powers as the last survivor of a main branch family's head. They're basically knocked out via blunt attack of some type, and as a result, they lose ALL of their powers.

There are lots of other examples for this particular issue, but let that be a big example as to how the ending is a let-down.

The game isn't bad. The story isn't bad, but that ending is a disappointment. After you've finished the main game, there are a bunch of "extra" stories unlocked and a new mode unlocked to re-experience the story with MORE details/explanations/perspectives, which is great, but it doesn't change the ending to be improved in any way.

I do not recommend this game for full price. Get it for less than $10. Get it on Switch if you want it portable, but absolutely wait for it to be on sale.

Raging Loop is a very worthwhile ADV visual novel game, and I think it can be regarded as one of the best visual novels of the unpopular. The biggest feature of the game is the meticulous guidance and convenient scenario chart system for players. Whether it is players who often play visual novels or players who try visual novels for the first time, they can get a smooth game experience in it.

The picture style of the game may not be liked by many players at first sight, but if you continue to play, you can realize that the picture style of the game is quite acceptable. The most commendable part of this game is its plot. As a game of the Gold Award by the Famitsu Magazine, it can be said that it will not disappoint most players. The game's detailed explanation of the plot is also fully demonstrated in the relevance mode after customs clearance.

In general, for players who like visual novels, this game will not let you down, and for those who like the Werewolf game, it may need to be carefully considered, because the game is a plot development based on Werewolf game On top of that, rather than a visual novel that lets players experience the Werewolf game. This is up there with the most interesting interactive novel stories I read. I really couldn't put it down. Up there as a highly recommended experience in drama/crime/horror.

The premise is pretty straight forward. You are riding your bike, crash and end up in a remote small community who takes you in for the night till you can get your bike fixed the next day. And things start getting weird.

The atmospheric build up is great. All the events drive up the tension as people start getting more and more anxious about what is going on. Oh and you die. Yep, one way or another your choices will drive you to that conclusion. That's when things start getting interesting. The character depth is amazing, with each loop revealing something about new, and the vunerable circumstances really make you feel for pretty much everyone in the community (not necessarily positive feelings).

This novel is definitely about the journey not the ending. Savour your choices and become invested in the characters. Yep - some of the plot dead ends are frustrating, but that's really just a hook for you to understand what is really going on.

Oh my oh my oh my never in my life I found video game that are more wicked than this game. This game is not for those faint of heart.

Basically this is the game where the hero enter the village and suddenly Werewolf game started. The twist here is its not just a game. The killing is real. The motive is real. You thought you won't kill your family? WRONG!! And how did they kill? Imagine your worst.

This game at its peak during your 3rd run. Trust me its really interesting. Basically every character have their own playstyle and how are they influence for each other character.

My advice, if you really love Visual Novel, Horror and Clever (Detective) protagonist, this is the game for you. Must buy!

This was a really well-written and clever visual novel with a lot of personality. I'm mainly writing this to counter the "the ending is unsatisfying"-crowd, because I felt like a lot of my questions were cleared up and the remaining ambiguity was exactly right to keep me thinkin' about the story afterwards. I feel like this visual novel tried to communicate a point about life that it wanted to draw my attention to, and I think it was an interesting one. It evoked a lot of emotions and the characters felt simultaneously alien and authentic.

Feels sort of weird to point it out but there is a massive amount of reading to be had in playing this VN. However, that's something players need to have in mind before starting.

That doesn't bring the overall gameplay down, though. There are plenty of VNs where you have to hunt through the branching routes and figure out the tiny differences they create; and some of those are just alter dialogue but nothing else. With raging loop, those branches end in entirely different stories and I absolutely loved it. Here, death isn't a punishment: it's needed to unlock choices and find out the entire story. As soon as I realized that, I was in. (And as someone who plays the Werewolf game IRL, the bits after a death scene where you're given hints on how to make the better choices had me smiling.)

After finishing the game, there's still more. The after stories that wrap up the handful of mysteries the main game didn't answer were a nice touch. While I love having all my questions answered, I do understand how sometimes exposition/lore-dump can take away from the sense of accomplishment when finishing a game.

Recommended for those who don't mind reading/eye strain and love those branching time loops that choices make.

It takes a while to get started, but when the story is going... GOOD GOD are you in for a treat of good story design.
It's a bit darker that your avarage Danganronpa, but it's not as gorey as AI The Somnium files, so if you got trough that, this is an absolute must play if you're a fan of the genre.

the fully voice acted lines bring a lot of life to the game, and after getting just the first ending, I feel like I'm going to get a lot of hours out of this.

It's not as interactive as most other detective style visual novels. the only times you really need to use the mouse, apart form saving and clicking on auto, is when you get the option to follow a branched path. It doesn't mean that that's a bad thing. again the story is amazing. though I do reccommend not taking it all in one go. read it in portions of not much more than 2 hours, and than take a break of at least one. Emersion is key, but gettting back into the game is easy after a short break.

Raging Loop is what you get when you combine elements of Higurashi, Danganronpa and the Nonary series. Although it doesn't ever reach the highs of those series overall it is worth reading. There are four routes, a NG+ with all new scenes and 5 after stories. The main character is one of the best I've seen in a visual novel. The game is linear for the most part and it's impossible to do the routes out of order. Each one is better then the previous but the true ending is where the game starts falling apart. The overall ending I did not like at all. Also not a fan of the art or the overall UI. The art style didn't do much for me but did but I got use to it after awhile. The game appears to be 1080p but the assets are 720p even in windowed mode so I couldn't upscale it with Magpie. So the art is always blurry.

Oh and Rikako is best girl.

8/10 Raging loop is an enjoyable read for most of it's playtime which is in part due to it's intricate choice system, great cast of characters, deep although flawed mystery and fitting atmospheric soundtrack, but while enjoyable it is let down by it's many plot holes that I cant get into without spoilers, it's decline in writing quality in the later half of the story, it's tendency to dump a load of info on you all at once and it's shitty true ending that doesn't fit with the story and atmosphere it had up until that point, as it is goofy af.

It’s start slow but then you got hooked and everything turn up side down, while even the truth you learn might be fault and there’s a lot of plot twists, after you done with the game once you will unlock revelation mode to replay again and know the truth about what are the other characters thinking or what they do to reach that point in game or explain the weird behavior that got cut out in game while you play first time normally and some extra ending.

Game has full voice except the thinking scene, even MC has voice hah!

Translation is god like and wonderful if you want to learn Japanese with it too.

This is an absolute gem of an VN. Spent whole nights on this, both because it's lengthy and immersing (and it's best played at night). It takes a while for the story to unfold, but it's really worth it. At some point you just need to know what happens the next day. Give this a go if you haven't (especially if you like Danganronpa, as I was looking for something similar to it and was not disappointed).

Also, the protagonist is awesome.

This game's big downside comes from translation. Every name, from villages to characters or gods are Japanese names, meaning people not used to it will get lost very fast. It also means that, obviously, the lore dump that will come when you start ending the game will be very tough to follow. Otherwise good, though.

It starts building an intriguing mystery, but it loses itself on the way, trying to create so many mysteries along the story just to give lazy, heavily confusing and even inconsistent answers later. I must say that I haven't any aversion towards vague answers that convey something deeper or that rely on the reader's interpretation, I actually like that, as I greatly enjoyed how Umineko reveals its mystery, for example, but this game made a lot of things so confusing that I stopped trying to understand it around 60% and I was just praying to reach the end as soon as possible (which didn't make things better at all).

Another problem here is the history pacing. While there is a lot of time where we didn't learn anything new, we are overwhelmed by an avalanche of new information at the blink of an eye in some scenes, which just makes everything harder to process. MINOR SPOILER AHEAD: Also, a significant part of the story relies on tricks with the kanji alphabet, so if you don't know anything about it, some scenes could feel incredibly boring.

Beyond that, it's common for Haruaki (the main character) to know some things before the reader does. This is not a problem itself at all, but it just doesn't work well in a complex story like this one.

Despite being well drawn, programmed (that chart system should be copied by all VNs nowadays) and felt promising until the middle, it just threw out its potential by the end.

So anyways about the game, I'd definitely recommend it, it's basically like the Werewolf party game combined with Re:Zero, which makes for a really interesting combination.

Let me talk about each aspect it does well individually. First, it has one of the best protagonists in any game ever, while most protagonists are just dense and dumb this guy is an absolute chad, he never really wimps out and he rarely acts emotionally. However he isn't some overpowered certified genius dude either, as he makes many errors which cause him to die and have to loop back to a previous moment in time.

Another thing this game does extremely well is atmosphere, as you really feel the tension as slowly but surely the number of people slowly starts dwindling, and yet you can't make up your mind on who the wolves are. There are also a lot of "OH SH*T" moments where you realize your plans have gone terribly wrong. This sense of atmosphere is especially helped by the very effective soundtrack.

As for characters, most of them are likeable but the problem is some characters get a lot more screentime than others. like some barely get 1-2 hours of screentime while another may get like 13 hours.

The final talking point is the mystery, and there's 2 aspects to this: discerning who everyone's role is in the game and solving the overall mystery behind the killings. The former is super fun for yourself to theorize trying to analyze the behaviors of everyone to determine if they're one of the wolves or not, and it's super interesting. With the latter mystery, there are some well done revelations and "Aha!" moments you get, but the mystery can be very convoluted at times, especially near the end of the story where you're just confused on what the hell is going on.

Overall though despite the meh ending, the game is overall a blast and I'd definitely recommend buying it.

+ The protagonist is very memorable and has a distinctive personality.

+ Interesting mystery that expands out over time before starting to unravel.
+ Lots of twists and turns to the plot.
+ I can't speak Japanese, but the voice acting seemed very good.
+ Music is great and adds to the atmosphere - the main debate track is fantastic and has a perfect ‘suspect everyone’ vibe.
+ There are branching paths, but the VN does a great job of not making you repeat sections and allows you to jump around as needed. Also regarding the branching paths, you generally experience them in a fairly linear order, so you aren't going to be scratching your head trying to remember what happened across several separate paths and trying to piece them together in your head, and you aren't going to be needlessly repeating dialogue just to try and get onto another path.
+ Revelations mode is great and provides additional scenes / character thoughts for those who have completed the full story. Worth noting if you do end up reading the VN and liking it, you should go through it with this Revelations mode enabled again, even if you skip dialogue just to get to the new parts as they are interesting and complement the story well.

/ There are some extra short stories included which occur after the main story and are nice as an extra, however (minor spoilers on story themes but nothing major) I think they do a slight disservice to the main story by introducing too many additional supernatural events / abilities that dilute the impact of the main story. The main story does a good job of balancing the supernatural with the mundane but the extra stories just feel like too much extra supernatural-ness slapped on which I wasn’t a fan of. To me they felt like overdoing the supernatural where they should have instead relied solely on the good characters / relationships as they are strong enough to uphold their own stories.

Negatives

- As the VN heads towards the final stretch there’s quite a big info dump and it can be a little convoluted / unclear in parts. Revelations helps clear this up, but I think it could have been a little clearer in the standard mode and also less "let me tell you the story of my people"-lecture.

Conclusion

I really enjoyed Raging Loop. It's one of those VNs where I ended up thinking about it for quite a while after I finished it. It gets a lot right with great characters, relationships and a core plot which is mysterious and intriguing. The protagonist is great to follow along with, in some ways he’s relatable but in other ways he’s very strange and peculiar. Despite listing the ending section as a weakness, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be having read some other reviews on Steam, and by no means did it detract from the overall story, it's just a slightly muddier section in an otherwise great VN. If you haven't read this yet then I envy you who can enjoy this with fresh eyes.

It still is VERY complicated, but most of the game play is less puzzles, and more tactical choices and exploring the narrative. Wonderful characters, outstanding writing, and so, SO much content. Raging Loop is a visual novel about a rural Japanese village caught up in a supernatural phenomenon where they need to play Werewolf. It's part Higurashi, part Among Us. It's an easy concept to understand, and that's what drew me towards it, but I'm writing this review to wholeheartedly recommend it. Despite me coming in thinking I knew what kind of story I'd be getting into, Raging Loop exceeded my expectations with its cast of complex characters, fascinating plot, and sheer amount of content for a visual novel limited by the constraints of the standard game engine used for this kind of genre.

My biggest praise has to go to how the 'Werewolf' aspect is utilised. It definitely feels like the author has done their research, or has played the game a lot itself - common tactics are discussed, most of the characters make rational decisions, and everyone's motivations feel internally consistent throughout. The other advantage of the visual novel having multiple routes, the 'loop' part of Raging Loop, also allows for games with roles given to different people each time, allowing to see how they'd act in different situations - including the protagonist.

But underpinning the social deduction games and Bad Endings is a highly-intelligent and thought-provoking supernatural thriller about the nature of God, rational thinking and community. Some people might find elements of the ending disappointing, but I find it ties everything together to have a fascinating thematic backbone.

I was also incredibly impressed with how they implemented post-game content. After beating the main scenario, you get access to 'Revelation Mode' - a thing you can toggle on and off which adds extra scenes throughout the entire story showing the thoughts and actions of characters at moments where the protagonist isn't around to watch - and sometimes thoughts from the protagonist himself. It allows you to recontextualise almost every scene in the story by showing the hidden motivations of every character that the game didn't tell you earlier because...it'd spoil the player too early. There are also five epilogue side-stories explaining what everyone is doing after events of the game, two hidden gag endings, and bonus gag scenes for every Bad Ending if you keep Revelation Mode on. This is a game that truly dots every 'i' and crosses every 't' to make sure all loose plot threads are explained if you know where to look, as well as having a bit of fun, and I find that admirable.

So...yeah. Highly recommend Raging Loop. Wish someone had told me about it sooner.

It started out good.. like actually quite good tbh... but they did a horrible job in the last act and made it a nightmare to finish the game. I had to force myself to stay awake while horribly reading the massive info-dump that was given to me and all these "plot twists" that came out of no where.

What a wild ride of a story this turned out to be. Time loops. Supernatural elements. Complex characters. Lots of stuff that just checks my boxes of stories I like.

There are of course flaws. While I thought the game hit its stride with building the atmosphere, tension, and introducing the mysteries, I thought the biggest flaw was the answers to those mysteries.

Despite that though, I would absolutely recommend this game.

I wouldn't be lying if I called this game addictive. It's similar to the Nonary Games, in the sense that the flowchart is very helpful, and allows you to double back and replay choices to see what would have happened if you'd gone the other way. The characters are fantastic and can manage to surprise you even if you think you have everything figured out. It's a great mystery game, and I've never seen a looping mechanic done better, honestly. I just couldn't put this game down. If you're a fan of visual novels, mysteries, or social deduction games, Raging Loop will keep you interested. I highly recommend this game.

This is a great visual novel. The sound design, music or sfx, is amazing. The art style grew on me, and I found myself appreciating just how much it could convey in the CGs. The story is great, although I dislike how the writing becomes considerably lazier and shorter after you select a bad end choice and are about to die. Most of the time, if you choose the wrong choice you get a really lazily written (sometimes even copy pasted) sequence of events and then you die.

I enjoyed this game, but I'm not a huge fan of groundhog day-style games so I thought the middle third was kind of slow. I don't know that I liked it enough to pay full price for it.

Also, trigger warning for rape, including child rape, that is not taken seriously because the culprit was an attractive lady. And then it's suggested it's fine because her victims are usually asleep or dying.

I'm going to be up front: unlike what this game tells you, it has very little to do with werewolves.

Have you ever played the party game Werewolf (also known as Mafia, as seen in the video game Town of Salem, and similar to the game Among Us)? The vast majority of Raging Loop is essentially a visual novel where a group of villagers are forced to play a real life high stakes version of Werewolf/Mafia, and our protagonist, named Haruaki, is in a time loop forcing him to play the high stakes game over and over again with them.

It executes that concept well. I finished the ~30 hours of this games run time in a total of three days. That's a pretty gripping story. However, the problems begin to build up after the game moves past its main concept and the endgame of the story begins. This starts at around 75% of the story.

Then the game pretty much falls apart. You get a series of info dumps, and then an extremely ridiculous, almost laughable ending.

I still recommend it, though. The part of the game where the whole village is playing high stakes Mafia is intensely fascinating, and probably one of the best VN experiences I've ever had. Its just that the explanation for why they're stuck playing high stakes mafia is boring, and is affected by severe plot holes and ridiculous contrivances. The ending also creates several plot holes earlier on in the story.
