Good game, Prepare to Die.

No other game has such a visceral and intense grip on my senses during gameplay. I love the feeling of every moving part in this game. It is clunky in a design kind of way, you feel like a guy with a bunch of gear on while playing and it's incredible!

Following integration of Mod.IO for modding support, despite explicit developer commitment to Steam Workshop integration until very recently, can not in good conscience recommend this game. Mod.IO has a proven poor track record in a multitude of games, yet developers claim it offers superior service compared to Steam Workshop, which they also claim has issues (unfounded in practice).

Furthermore, development updates have slowed considerably since the last update in Summer '22, which re-broke the AI to be able to shoot without delay or proper sighting, and there has not been substantial public communication on when the next update will come or what will be contained within. Happy to be proven wrong if the above can be rectified as development continues, but, as it stands, has a big Avoid warning from my side right now.

Fantastic game. It's one of the darkest, most realistic and most intense games I've ever played.
It's both a spiritual successor to Swat 4, and also something completely different.
The developers are very active, and the community is amazing. The attention to detail is beyond anything I've seen outside a very autistic Minecraft server.
And it's just in early access. This game puts every other Early Access game to shame.

Great tactical shooter for people who like a realistic feel. Definitely recommended, although you'd need some mods to get the best experience but those are also very easy to use.

Reasonable comparable to a real S.W.A.T / S.R.T team from my observations.
Not perfect as every scenario is different and it is a game afterall.

Fun police themed shooter game.
I would recommend grabbing up to 4 other people to play the game with you and it could be so much fun.
There are less/non lethal weapons too!

It's cool, and what's in the game is solid, but very limited. The developers are far too slow and only update every 4 or so months, adding only about a weeks worth of content at the very most. Supporter addition is just early access to the very rare updates as well as 4 or so 'unique' items which are just reskins of existing items.
If the development starts picking up pace or if the game is at a state where it is worth it's $40 price tag.

I like the game so far and i think a lot more is to come. Definitely more fun with friends. Hope they continue to add more content to this game as the same maps over and over can get repetitive.

Made the money they needed to feed their family off Steam. Development decided to use a 3rd party mod website instead of the Steam Workshop to host all the mods for this game. Way to take a dump on your supporting community Steam should allow refunds when this happens.

Been a fan since day one. It has been getting better and better each update! Devs even added a mod page in game to directly and easily mod the game without even needing to mess with files if you don't want to. lots of mods! lots of guns! lots of fun!

For being an early access game, it's very good. The AIs are bitches and I like that you can control/tell your squad what to do in single player. I wish if I was playing with only 1 other friend, that we could have bots with us so it's not just 2 of us. 9/10 game

AI responds way too quickly with superhuman reflexes. Simply unrealistic, which makes trying to complete missions on S-rank really challenging and frustrating at times.

Cant recommend this game as is as of end-Oct 2022.

I would say, Ready or Not is a very inspirational game. Not because of its graphic or gameplay issue, but the emotional one.

About 5 years ago, I was an absolute outlaw, who had been involved in some street gang fighting. We showed no respect to the police. We troublemakers started to mock, trick, and sometimes…attack them. I have no idea about how the environment shapes us, so I only believe the officers are our natural enemies, and they live an easier life than us.

However, all have been changed by this simulation game. I learned how dangerous their jobs are, especially for the entry teams. I also managed to control my temper deliberately, because I failed missions due to careless IFF. It was so stupid that I fired my bullet at a civilian’s head, shortly after he cursed me.

I was guilty, but now the game brought my redemption. This year, I called some homies from my hometown to “play cops, and easily die”. I saw fear in their eyes after the bullets shot through their game characters’ chests. The game is both empathetic and educational, I have to say.

By the way, despite the considerable crime rate in my hometown, it would still be a wonderful place to visit. We call this lovely city the “bulimic capital of America”, and its official name is

Los Santos, SA.

God fucking damn it the A.I. in this game is more highly trained than you are if you are not careful enough then they will kill you before you can even react now of course i wouldn't recommend you if you are new in this type of tactical games cause how ridiculously hard this game is it would've been better if it had difficulty levels to choose from

It's a really good game. It has aspects that 99.99% of SWAT games fail to achieve. It's an very "realistic" game, with constant action to keep you in the game, and on your toes. The downside, you have to pay like an extra $50 just to get updates. I love their content, and I support this game, but doesn't make sense to spend a lot more money just to get more maps and uniforms that they'll release to us servants in 44 years.

On top of that, if you only have the base version, everyone with the Dev version will look down on you as if it were Roman times and they were all members of the Senate. Overall, the gameplay and tactics are amazing. 10/10

The game is great in many ways, But the dev's promised the steam community workshop support.
They decided to ruin the games load times and stability through Mod.io intigration Which nobody really asked for.
The game itself had a massive amount of potential until now.

This game is just Swat 5 But better, It Yesterday of me writing the review got mod access and the community Already has so much of them at ready. Gameplay is sometimes annoying because of the bugs (Which i have not met a lot) And the AI enemies are a bit too Harsh but this can be easily fixed with mods. But if any of those are not happening. Great, As you can probably see i have 10 hours in the last 2 weeks out of 16 hours total, Which were worth it

TL;DR- Game is sometimes annoying but if not is a great game, Just wait for a discount, it ain't worth this much at this stage

This is a great Special Weapons and Tactics game. It is incredibly punishing when players don't play carefully, and the enemies are very dangerous when you aren't careful. However, the game is buggy at times, especially when detaining civilians and arresting suspects. Aside from that, I'd highly recommend it if you want to play a challenging game.

ABSOLUTELY amazing game. Yes, its a beta. But thats the thing, i couldnt tell. Its so well put together. The mechanics are amazing and the gameplay never ends. I replayed the same mission for 9 hours because i wanted to beat it. What made it difficult? the mission was different EVERY SINGLE TIME. Any bad comments are 10 year old cry babies. This isnt a PVP, this is a teamwork game. Perfect execution. Anyone says otherwise can hop back on F@#KNITE and build your safespace walls over there. The adults are busy over here.

Guys... this is THE game if you are a fan of old SWAT games.

The devs held their promise, they update the game regularly and also add content on a monhtly base.

The gameplay is fluid, still has some bugs, but in general, working extremely well already.

This could become a long term masterpiece. It has everything RS siege did not have:

Realism, fun and less P2W / Booster trash.

Alright hear me out.
After the latest mod.io news i cannot recommend this to new users because of certain red flags.
The developers promised workshop support and they went with mod.io because it would be easier for them to provide mod support for their potential Epic games store and console releases in the future.

There was no reason workshop and mod.io couldn't co exist together, there was also no need to trash talk workshop when they went with an alternative not known for it's quality.
When asked about the whole thing a certain developer also passed the blame to Xsolla for them "not too fast on the uptake" when it came to updating information, since their official FAQ still promises workshop support at the time i'm writing this.

Void, you made your fundation of a game upon the money of steam users, all i ask is to don't treat as second class gamers and please just let workshop and mod.io co-exist. Because if you go back on your word on one promise, how can we trust you from here on in?

Thanks for reading this review, if you did.

I have been waiting over a decade for a sequel to SWAT 4, and I can safely say that this is it. Sure, Rainbow Six and Zero Hour scratched that itch, but they pale in comparison to this absolute masterpiece in game design. While I'd say Ready or Not is already excellent in singleplayer, multiplayer co-op is where it excels. It's brutally unforgiving - think Dark Souls levels of difficulty. Do NOT underestimate the AI.

bullettrain101
bullettrain101

This game is not worth it. The game itself is not finished and it has content locked behind an $80 paywall. Even if you own the standard version, you still have to drop $80 on the "supporter edition."

But hows the game? Eh. Not great. The AI is dogshit. Unless your teammates are clearing a room they are braindead idiots who will not attack enemies. Enemies on the other hand are aimbots that can kill you in one shot without even looking at you, ignoring your teammates. Hostages are useless too, just running around and getting in your way. Shouting at enemies to get down barely works too, so everything from common thugs to private mercenaries are willing to die apparently.

The missions are kind of cool but sadly as I said, it doesn't have the ai to support it. But there's a problem with the missions: half the list of missions aren't even finished. No textures, blocky models, broken path finding, all in a paid for product.

This game really wants to be SWAT 4. SWAT 4 is like $5 usually. Just buy that. This game took everything bad from SWAT 4 and made it worse, only adding SOME cool new features.

I do think this game could be really good. But that's a long way off. Maybe this game is better with friends, because playing with the AI is dreadful. And it's ridiculous asking price for just the standard version, let alone it's supporter edition which adds in extra content, it is far, far from worth it.

Good game but the ai is unbalanced, Suspect ai is like john wick and shoots you instantly as soon as you see them without any warnings sometimes instantly headshotting you and is extremely smart. Meanwhile police ai put their back to doors which can lead to a quick death as suspects tend to run right into the room the cop is in and instantly headshot the ai and kill you. The whole point of swat tactics is being able to trust your operators. If you can't trust the police ai because they will get you killed then you have to babysit them throughout the entire game which is very annoying and immersion breaking.

It's broken and it's content light. Give it a year.

AI in both your helper officers in singleplayer and suspect AI is sort of broken. Reaction speed can be a bit absurd and the animations are... well, they're there. You can restrain corpses for some reason and the arrest animation doesn't seem to be aware that walls exist so you're usually pushing people through them. Neck-seems, gun barrels through walls, and other visual glitches are fairly common. People can sometimes "pop" into existence. What's really weird is a lot of this didn't seem to be a factor the last time I tried to pick it up, it's buggier than it was six months ago.

Gameplay isn't bad, premise is solid, voice acting (the whole two actors they hired) is excellent. If they buff out the turds and keep adding this'll be an absolutely amazing game. Give em a year and check in, I imagine it'll be a fantastic pick-up about then.

A great FPS SWAT experience where you always have to be on your toes. It’s not a run and fun game unless you want an easy way out. Communication, cooperation, and planning is a must in order to succeed in completing missions. The game is fun, immersive, intense, and honestly I don’t know what more you can ask for from a game like this.

Only gripe I have of the game is that if you play solo, you have like 4 other squad members. On the other hand, if you coop with a friend, you are only a two man team making things even harder.

Some may add that as good and other bad but it still didn’t kill the experience for. Still worth picking up.

Is READY OR NOT a good game?

TL;RD: Yes, I'd say it's quite fun (especially with friends to play it with), but remember it's still in development so expect a few issues!

As a SWAT 4 Veteran I was hyped about a sequel from the get go!
Therefore I didn't hesitate for a second buying this early access version and in short I'm quite content with the results!

Ready or Not is a very realistic FPS with many admirable gimmicks that enrich the gameplay and make it very immersive for one to take control of a HRT (Human Rescue Team). It's filled with many objectives and a hard-to-learn gameplay which doesn't allow for many mistakes.
Having said that, it's still in its infancy (not supprising for an early access game), and I will go on about a few things I'd like the developers to consider to make this game even better:

NPC behavior:
The NPCs take the iniciative very often in the gameplay and take other routes to supprise the players. I'd like to note that they are a bit unrealistic in their reaction times and behavior in a few aspects. For example they instantly understand the ongoing situation and the presence of police (even when not noticed beforehand through flashlights etc.), which doesn't seem quite right for me. It's also nearly impossible to supprise the NPCs unless you face them from the back. It would be helpful if one could sneak around an NPC or supprise them from behind so that a stealthy gameplay is more likely.

I would also address the issue that civilians slowly move away from you, if not shouted at proximitaly. I'd assume that most civilains are quite happy and therefore not as affraid in such a situation to move away from a clearly recognisable police officer trying to help them (a bit like in SWAT 4).

NPC behavior (friendly):
Most of the time your teammates are quite helpfull in clearing a room or space, but there are still a few unaddressed issues I'd like to talk about:
When clearing a room the position of the NPCs (friendly) is not always accurate. This way it sometimes happens that they stand in the middle of a room during a 'clearing' command, whereas others stand correctly near the doorway.
Also the AI seems to have an issue with you (as a player) standing slightly in their way (even though there's a way to get by exactly besides you)!
It's also quite hard to complete a mission without unnecessary casualties because the AI likes to shoot (even enemies only carrying a knife) very rapidly and most of the time with unnecessary force (i.e. in the chest or head).

Objective placement:
This issue is very simple: I would find it more realistic and interesting, if objectives/evidence (like a laptop or crystal meth packages) were placed in other locations everytime you play the same mission. This way it's not only running along the same routes and therefore needs more focus to locate the given items. Otherwise it can be very monotonous to play the exact same mission multiple times and already knowing the location from the start.

In the last paragraph I want to make clear that in most aspects I really like the game and it's gameplay, though sometimes unrealistic, it is quite immersive and challenging to master a mission with good grades!
I really hope the developers take this into account when dealing with these issues and make the game even more realistic than before. More maps are also welcomed but I'm sure they are already working on that regard!
Otherwise I highly recommend for you to check out the game yourself and form your own opinion of it!

this game is having serious problems, AI can see and shoot you through walls and doors before you even see them, AI also will go down then will get back up and pick up their guns and shoot you. civilians run out and jump in front of you causing you to shoot them costing you points. weapons constantly won't reload or fire when you are in a fire fight.

Pros: The core concept of RoN is good. There is good customization which gives you a variety of ways to engage.

Cons: The A.I is pretty bad, graphics are mid, maps are clunky to navigate, and the controls are just not all that good. Also, The game is laughably priced for how unfinished it is. if it was maybe $15-$20 CAD I could recommend it

Pros :
- The music when you are in some situation make me feel in Matrix
- There's a good amount of customization
- Everytime you redo the map the pattern of npc change (for both Civilians and Enemies)
- It's intense and oh man, that's so good!

Cons :

HAIRY ManB00b

Ready or Not feels like the much needed sequel of SWAT 4. The developers have put in a lot of love into this and have taken influence from SWAT 4 to make RoN come alive. So if you enjoyed that game, you will definitely enjoy RoN.

RoN has a dark atmosphere and grittiness does not take a back seat. Many scenarios are terrifying where suspects can be located and how erratic/unpredictable their behavior may be, same with civilians. The player's choices before and during a scenario dictate whether or not that player will be successful and how successful they can be.
For instance: in hostage situations, if the player and/or other units are taking a *going in loud* approach, yet, also taking their time, they may startle some suspects, causing them to execute a number of hostages which you will be penalized for when the mission is over.
Some scenarios would I would recommend slow and methodical (using silencers, mirror wands, lock picks), whereas, others I recommend loud and proud (battering rams, stinger/flash grenades, C2). The choice is up to the player how they want to approach each situation.

This is a tactical slow shooter. Strongly recommend to get on with friends. The AI is unforgiving, so you learn to adapt and have faster response times to their actions. There are a handful of maps, most of which are massive and can take a while to finish. There are many more on their way from developers and with mod support, high quality maps are a few clicks away to keep the environments fresh.
Speaking of environments, the locations of these situations are packed with environmental storytelling which is what games need most nowadays and RoN has nothing short of it of that, modded maps included. I am looking forward to further updates that will continue to bring storytelling to the scenarios being played such as adding on to the briefings prior to each mission letting the player know the story behind the reason why they are searching for a suspect and what kind of weapons/body armor they have.

There are still some glitches and rough edges here and there (such as other officers opening doors from 3 zip codes away, arresting through walls, suspects doming you without raising their gun up), however, these glitches are far and in between and pales in comparison to the fun yet horrifying game play you will face as you slowly clear dark empty rooms and then boom, one will have a suspect in it that will start blasting, shit hits the fan, you jump in your seat, and 2 more suspects hear the gunfire and try to flank your squad and all you hear and see is yelling, gunfire, you shitting yourself and dust and sparks from bullets crashing different surfaces.

In this game, situations go from 0-100 instantly and you are either Ready or Not.

Cl0wnFace
Cl0wnFace

Let me preface this review by saying that I love this game. SWAT 4 was a big part of my childhood, and Ready or Not hits all the right notes in that regard, from the environmental storytelling of the maps to the tactical realism of the gameplay and commanding your own element. It certainly scratches that itch most of us fans of tactical shooters have had for a long, long time, and in this current era of gaming where you'll be hard-pressed to find a new and decent entry into this genre, Ready or Not is very much a welcome addition.

Unfortunately, that's all the positive things I have to say about it.

To start with, the devs have their priorities set wrong by choosing to focus on adding additional content instead of improving the general experience. The UI is still buggy, there are multiple unfinished maps sitting in the game, no mission briefs, and of course the most common complaint, the unreasonably godlike A.I which generally also has strange behavior (such as getting stuck in doors). Don't get me wrong, there are some very interesting mechanics involving the enemy A.I, such as them being able to play dead or lunge at you with a knife as you're swooping in to arrest them, but you'll be having a hard time enjoying any of that when they can headshot you across the room in a milisecond with a regular 9mil. while simultaneously firing off a volley of rounds that should not be possible with some of the firearms they have. This type of artificial difficulty feels cheap, especially when playing with friends.

The friendly A.I is lackluster as well, they regularly freeze in the middle of performing a command and get stuck in that loop sometimes until the end of a mission, they often walk into your line of fire, they can noclip flashbangs through walls and also breach doors without even standing next to the door in question. To compensate for this, the devs decided to give them ridiculously accurate aim as well, effectively eliminating the need for you to participate in any shootouts whatsoever when playing solo, even more so when the suspects are just the same as them.

Yes, some people might argue that mods can fix that and they do, but modders *shouldn't* be cleaning up the messes devs leave behind, especially when the game is in Early Access. Which brings me to my next point, the incredibly long wait between updates and the Supporter Edition. Updates are being churned out at a snail's pace with months wait in-between, and most of the time they're just content updates which neglect the blatant issues this game has. If you want early access to new updates, you have to buy the Supporter edition, which costs even more compared to the base version (which isn't cheap as it is). A terrible business move all things considered.

To conclude this wall of text for any potential buyers, either get Ready or Not on sale or wait until Void polishes it out some more. It really pains me to say this, as it has a ton of potential as a title, but at this point in time the core experience is still plagued by a lot of issues.

Fluorine
Fluorine

Overall it is a really fun game that requires a player to think ahead before acting, however it still needs improvements for it to be better. The friendly AI used to be really smart and capable but now they are just extra guns that will shoot at a targets while making everything you do an annoyance. They often freeze up or will make stupid decisions that will either get themselves or even yourself killed. The enemy AI also need some improvement as well. While I like their new system which makes them smarter, in some cases it makes them have hyper sensitivity even when inappropriate. The terrorists on Neon are incredibly challenging and are harder to fight than the army vets or PMC guys which doesn't make a lot of sense. A lot of the time the AI have reaction times that are way too quick to the extent where you can only fight fire with fire, which leads you to sending your AI teammates to do most of the dirty work rather than yourself which takes the fun out of the game. While the game really needs some improvements in certain areas the map design and gunplay are amazing and I'm willing to look past the issues the AI have. I definitely recommend playing this game if you like Law Enforcement style shooters.

Ready or Not is a fantastic game for the coop PVE experience. I have found playing this game to be really sharp at determining great teammates apart from bad ones. The difficulty is highly engaging when you realize your goal is to avoid conflict as much as possible. However, most people are rather impatient which means you'll be spending more time failing than succeeding. Regardless, Solo with bots is still just as effective as if you had a solid team. When regarding pc requirements, I have noticed the game's performance has drastically gone down post-June updates as every map is getting updated and spiced up with detail. As the game is in Early Access, I still think this game is terrific and worth a buy.

Very good, but still not finished. Great gameplay, good combat, good maps. Unfortunately, this game does not have nearly enough content or polish to warrant a $40 price tag, but I support the developers in finishing this game. PVP combat is extremely fun but there is no real way to do it yet, but my biggest complaint is that there is better glass in Half Life 1, a game that came out 20+yrs ago. There is so much of every map that has glass that you either can't see through, can't shoot through, or doesn't break when you shoot it. Good example of this is the front window of Voll health house, where you frequently get in fights with the guards patrolling the top hallway. As you are shooting through the window, the glass decals stack up and you can't see through it anymore.

Great game so cool how suspects can fake surrender and the graphics are great with amazing performance for an early access game. Great, in depth weapon customisation also. I hope there are more maps coming in the future or even more customisation options for characters maybe? Overall good game I would highly suggest getting it.

I only have 5 hours in this game for 2 reasons:

1. Doctor says its not good for my heart.
2. I try to minimize the number of underwear changes to once a day.

Amazing tactical police game. Exactly what I was looking for after playing the Modern Warfare 2019 campaign. A little more in depth weapon customization would be great, although this is just an early access game at the moment. Overall gunplay feels very nice, the ammunition management system is amazing, and the attachments work very well. AI is slightly clunky at times when in single player, but overall very good. Playable test/indev levels is a nice feature as well.

In it current state, the game is still worth its relatively high price for an early access title. With the devs planning to raise price as the game is more complete and fleshed out, now is a great time to pick up a wonderful tactical shooter, whether you're Ready or Not.

I feel this is just a modern version of Rainbow Six Rogue Spear - back when Rainbow Six was actually a game of objectives and skill, not just spamming things that is "todays" rainbow six.

With that - this is just a modern version of the old classic days just with fancy graphics and pretty custom weapons. But it has the same hostage rescue, terrorist shooters, etc etc. It really isnt doing much to tickle my fancy unfortunately. I just remember playing hours of rainbow six rogue spear on dial up. That is all this game brings to me unfortunately. Perhaps the younger generations (apparently lower 30s sounds like an old man) will have this gave tickle their fancy.

Great change of pace. Environments are very well thought out and have lots of great details that create immersion. Guns feel great. AI needs some work, but that isn't at all a dealbreaker when combined with all other aspects of the game.

Well, is this game worth 30$?

After nearly a year of this game being out, the game seems to have a lot of bugs. A few notable ones would be the god awful frame rate drops when you are choosing the loud outs. I also love it when I see an enemy looking the other way and as I start to shoot them they somehow end up killing me with their .0001 second turn rate.

Now lets talk about cooperative game play. DO NOT GET THIS GAME IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY FRIENDS. You can spend your time looking for a lobby, that's fine. But after getting kicked out or admin banned from a lobby, it just deters you from wanting to play the game at all. Sure you can play solo, but as a person who enjoys games that have a co op ability, this is just a waste of my time.

Once you get over the hump of being able to find a match with a group of people, we can take a look at the game play. I will admit, the game play was fairly smooth with a few problems here and there noted at the top. Interacting with doors is quite painful at first but it gets easier. Another poor quality would be the situations where you potentially spend 10-40 minutes looking for objectives like meth or maybe even a hard drive. Afterwards you also have to make sure to call in detained civilians. If you end up missing one or more earlier on the round, It is going to be a bad time.

With all these negativity, let us take a look at some redeeming qualities. I truly appreciate how you are able to use all the guns without having to unlock it by means of purchasing (with in game currency) or unlocking through successful rounds. When playing with friends, it is an absolute blast, literally and figuratively. We can fail a mission numerous amount of time and we would still be fine with playing it over and over again. If we end up getting bored we just play in the training room doing PvP situations.

One last thing to bring up is the $70 USD DLC. Why? just... Why? are you seriously asking for $70 while asking us to pay 30$ for this nearly year old "EaRlY aCcEsS" of a game? A game were the only content is to breach and clear? I understand that you only have less than 50 people working on this game. But why? Why is it $70? This game probably would sell better if it were just 15 or 20 dollars. And with that being said, if it were it definitely would be a Yes to the recommendation.

A couple of mentions:
1. The sound mixing is awful, the gunshots do a great job at trying to make me deaf.
2. Love the map details.
3. I though this would be just like R6S but nope its much more immersive.

The_Prophet_G60
The_Prophet_G60

Very intense game. It is a realistic game as a swat team. You can change your loadout as well as your team. You can customize what type of armor plates you wear as well as if you want the front plates or back plates, or both. A lot of low light simulations, I wish there more day time missions. You can also choose to go less lethal options and put wedges in doors from them opening up on you when you least expect it.

In love with this Game! Compared to Zero hour I actually fell immersed when I am playing. Gun sounds are 'realistic' and the Visuals are Crisp! I wouldn't say It's worth $40 but I Love playing SOLO or with My brother. I just with there was some sort of progression.

I wish all those great tactical shooters were available when I was a teen, I would have pushed all my hours onto them, especially this one. Great community from all around the world, from all walks of life. I have also purchased the dlc in order to support them, as I reminisce the times of SWAT 4.

Game Good
Really recaptures the love of the old SWAT games

Pros
- Good tactical shooter
- Fun gunplay (Solo is good, MP is better)
- Good enemy AI
- Good weapon ballistics
- Choice of equipment
- The story telling in the maps is very good, well built maps, fun to explore
- NO RUNNING!

Cons
- Terrible Friendly AI
- Loadout UI is utter garbage
- Loudly kick door? or stealthy ease door open? Both options are F key..
- Every map is huge (apartment block, mansion, farm, shipping dock) No option for small maps? House's etc
- The Nightclub map
- Takes approximately 18 years to pull pin and throw grenade

Story time
> Unarmed civilian loudly shouts "THEY'RE OVER HERE!" when they see you.
> You shout "Get on the ground!" Civ replies "I'm complying, OK!?" as they run away.
> You pursue the civ shouting as you go. You fire a couple of warning shots and give them one last chance.
> Civ surrenders and drops to their knees.
> You approach to arrest them and they pull a kitchen knife and stab you to death.
> 10/10 anxiety inducer

As a massive fan of the SWAT series this game was a pretty big disappointment in its current stage. I absolutely love the setting of the game with its heavy and realistic theme which in my opinion is better than any of the swat games. The disappointment came in two main areas. First is the AI, the enemies have Lockheed Martin level guiding systems as they're able to do a full 180 and headshot you before your able to say the hands in get your hands up and they rarely ever miss a shot. Secondly, all missions despite looking different and having absolutely amazing scenarios each mission feels the same because it seems to use all the same models for each mission with some differences and it feels like your just playing in a arena sometimes fighting the same enemies just in a new setting.

Great game, with a nice fanbase. All players are pretty chill. 100% Worth the 40$ price tag. Although it's a bit harsh on low-end devices, and the controls usually need to be re-adjusted when you first play. For me some of the keys featured in the controls area did not exist on my keyboard. Overall: 9/10 Would buy.

After play for a while and adding a few cool mods it clicked and now I'm addicted to the game. The base game is great but the mods out there have made it even more enjoyable. No leveling up anything or unlocking things is just fine for me. Just jump in and have a few crazy firefights that are never the same each time you go in. I thought Rainbow Six Siege was going to be something like this but was not. All good. This is just right and it's not even finished in yet. The AI can be crazy and the AI Team mates may seem annoying at times but there are mods to fix this if you're interested in that. I look forward to the future of this title.

the game itself is tons of fun. Lots of content just in early access and a well crafted game. Friendly ai needs some work but most issues seem like they will get patched. parts of the game seem a bit tasteless at times. Piles of bodies outside a nightclub, etc. for the most part its realistic, but some of the game is very dramatized. granted, it's not SO insane that you cant enjoy it, and the exact same thing could be said about games like payday. worth the money.

i do like this game. i really want the realistic shooter genre to thrive. with that being said i dont understand adding brain dead friendly AI to single player. this isnt a early 2000's rainbow six vegas game. this game is popular for its coop but its single player is severely lacking. the AI get me killed so often i end up leaving them behind by ordering them to stay at the beginning of the map. zero hour has a much better single player experience.

Very fun with a team and challenging solo. Team ai often feel like they get in the way more if you're trying to sneak or you're using less lethal approaches as they often start firing at people through walls before you even know. I prefer using mods to remove team ai but disabling score tracking for using mods feels harsh when it isn't a competitive aspect. Some maps have an issue where the frame rate lowers the longer you play making it nearly unplayable for long periods. The anti aliasing options in the game are the default unreal engine options that introduce horrendous visual ghosting even if the game looks nicer.

As of now the game has little variety in maps and the ai although good will sometimes randomly see through walls or one bang you before their weapon is even raised. Unless you like challenging yourself on the same few maps just wait until there's more content or the game is more refined.

Genuinely a very good game, It looks great and runs pretty well although you will need a pretty decent pc to get an enjoyable experience. This game is basically rainbow six but way better, way more realistic and a lot, lot, lot more difficult. Genuinely this game is hard but the realism of the game, the way the guns shoot and you play with your quad (BOTS OR MP) is very strategical and awesome. I do reccommend this game, it is very great and its got little to no bugs so it is worth it, also its in early access so i cant wait to see how flippen amazing this game is gonna be when it fully releases.

I am very new to PC, however I am learning how to play via Ready or not, Figure if i can learn a harder game i should be ready for the more simpler games. overall i am very impressed with the tactical precision of this game. little things i am noticing are bodies dropping in places that a player cannot get to or they will get stuck hopefully this will change allowing us to report dead suspects from farther away, or the ability to climb or be helped out of a tight space by the team. great game overall.

I grew up playing Swat 4 and I must say this is what we have been waiting on. Finally something we truly want. Thank you Void for this great game and the nostalgia feelings I get playing it. This has been done really well and can't wait until its finished. Game is solid, I found a few bugs in there but nothing game breaking.

I'm giving this a thumbs up although I did not like the product in its current state. Gameplay is cool, settings on the other hand need some work (mainly no ads sensitivity). I'd call for more options when choosing your keybindings (like tap, double-tap, hold ; ctrl + , alt +, ctrl+alt +). I think this game would benefit from more in-depth controls.

Don't get me wrong, you can still adjust a lot to your preferences. It's not as customizable as ARMA for example.

Overall, great tactical shooter. A worthy successor of the SWAT series.

This game has way too many bugs and doesn't seem to be in a playable state.

Here is what happened:
- The main weapon I chose was replaced by some shotgun that I couldn't use. Shooting, reloading or changing the fire mode did nothing. Still I decided to try and complete the mission with just my sidearm.
- Suspects appearing and disappearing randomly. The first time it happened I saw the suspect when checking under the door. but he was not there when opening it. After moving on to the next room I hear yelling from behind me and the suspect has reappeared at the same exact spot he was at before. With my squad right behind me I don't think he could have returned there naturally. Something similar happened a second time during the mission, but again I didn't see it directly so take this one with a grain of salt.
- The AI members of my squad stopped following any orders I gave them. Whatever I told them to do, the answer was always "can't get there".
- One suspect spawned inside a bed and could not be interacted with in any way. I tried yelling at him, shooting him, throwing a flashbang etc.
- After that no new suspects, civilians or objectives could be found anywhere on the map. The rest of the map was literally empty. Of course this meant that I couldn't complete any of the objectives or finish the mission.

Not a great first impression.

A very fun, realistic SWAT simulation game. There are a few points where the realism could be better, but as long as you are willing to suspend disbelief for the sake of fun then you will like the game. overall the pace of the game is quite slow, so if you were looking for a faster paced game you may want to skip this. I only have two complaints with one being that there are small glitches very often that can ruin your immersion, and the second one being that there are very tedious parts of the game where you're searching for the final civilian in the game that you missed after having met all of your other requirenments. In conclusion, I'd give this game an 8/10 as it is a very fun game that I would recommend, especially to people interested in SWAT, and I killed the last two numbers due to A. glitches (which may have been fixed depending on how long it has been since this revies) and B. certain things lacking realism even though they don't otherwise effect the game (E.g seeing 'electricity' when using a taser, lots of recoil on pepperball guns, etc.)

The game is centered on a team of SWAT operatives in the fictional American city of Los Suenos. Realism is a central pillar of the experience, with both players and suspects being killed in only a few shots. A variety of less-lethal weapons such as stun grenades, tasers and pepper spray are available in addition to firearms and players are awarded more points for arresting suspects than killing them. Missions are playable single-player with AI teammates or co-cooperatively with up to four other players through online multiplayer. A competitive player versus player mode is planned for the full release. Currently, there are five game modes.

1- Barricaded Suspects: Confront barricaded suspects. The number one priority is to save as many lives as possible. Rescue civilians, detain suspects, and don’t use lethal force unless a squadmate or a civilian is threatened. Considered as the “easy” mode, suspects are mostly compliant.

2- Raid: Conduct a raid. Multiple suspects are much more hostile and less compliant in raids. Rules of engagement have been loosened, so use of lethal force is allowed.

3- Active Shooter: A gunman is killing every civilian it sees as it roams around the map. Immediate pacification is needed to prevent casualties.

4- Bomb Threat: Locating and diffusing the bomb becomes first priority. There’s only a limited amount of time before the bomb sets off, not to mention that there are also hostiles to dal with and civilians to rescue. Efficiency is needed to not jeopardize the mission.

5- Hostage Rescue: Suspects have actively taken civilians as hostage inside a room. A single wrong move could cost a civilian’s life.

Couple of graphical bugs like wonky shadows n such every now and again but overall it's a very good experience for a niche genre of Tac Shooters.

Refreshing tac shooter, love the maps, gunplay feels smooth. Can't wait to see the progression of the game.

A high quality, tactical police shooter. It aims for realism with RoE being very realistic.

The AI (with the addition of the recent overhaul) is nothing to joke about. They are a serious threat.

This game is NOT for anyone under 18 or faint of heart. This game does not hold back. I love that it doesn't, but some of the imagery and topics are very graphic/suggestive (such as sex crimes [including against children], drug use and manufacture, mass shootings, terrorist situations, etc.)

I recommend this game to anyone who also enjoys the likes of Escape from Tarkov, Insurgency: Sandstorm, or similar titles.

Is this game ready or not?
The answer, it is not. This game lacks any amount of progression and any hint of competition. You create your loadout and drop into an area to clear the suspects and rescue hostages. You will go room after room killing suspects who stand still with a thumb up their ass and hostages who wont get on their knees. After all is said and done and you finally found that 1 suspect hidiing in that one room you didnt check you can finally complete the mission. They give you a rating based on how you did and thats it. You do it all over again. Game needs to be like left4dead multiplayer with some players on suspects and majority on swat. Lame ass game.

No, it's not ready.

Wait on this one, the small amount of content doesn't justify the price. There are very few levels, no progression, and the AI can be pretty unfair sometimes with inhuman reaction times. A very common occurrence is an unarmored hostile being lit up from the back but somehow turning around and killing my heavily armored nerd cop nearly instantly with their goofy little pistol. Not a "oh my reaction time is too slow I need to get better at this game" there's literally no way to win with digitally precise attacks from an AI occurring faster than a human could react to. This is not every encounter with hostiles, but it happens with enough frequency that it is a regular frustration.

A lot of promise, but needs more content and polish. Save your money for now.

There are games that have tried to do the same as this one but nobody has gotten even close, there is insane detail down to the smallest things not always graphics wise but its environmental detail. you must try this game if you like tactical and or stealth styles of games.

While the new nightclub mission is genuinely disturbing, and its atmosphere incredibly unnerving, releasing it on June 16, the 6th anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting, is super fucked up.

Fun game. Guns look good, animations are solid, mechanics are intuitive, good game. Keep in mind though, this isn't Call of Duty, it's a much more realistic, slow-paced S.W.A.T. shooter, not a shooting gallery where you kill everything that moves.

I think its a good game that doesnt have enough content... not to say you shouldnt buy bc I think they execute what they promise rly well however content is pretty maxed out after ten hours at this point not to say im not still having fun and wont introduce more friends to the game just is lacking in mission variety and fully taking advantage of putting u in those rly fun firefights

AI... its good and sometimes seems smarter than it is bc of crazy random chance aimbot and aggressive behavior its not learning from me or being varied in attack this is just random af and sometimes rly screws me over and sometimes rly doesn't

map design is crazy good escially club map and rtx is crazzzzy rly enjoyed this game overall 8/10

Great game and a lot of content for an early access game. My only delay getting this was the price, but now I can say it is worth the price. However, it really is worth it if you enjoy this kind of game as it is just slightly cheaper than AAA games that are "complete".
You have several maps and different scenarios that you can play in each map, it seems obvious that this game is still very much a work in progress as some maps are not complete yet (they mention if they are not), and the game modes seem to have an idea of what they could be in the future. For example, there is an "Active shooter" game mode, but it still plays out like the other game modes. I assume in the future, they will have an actual active shooter that you have to stop.
I'm excited to see what this game can become.

One thing that I did not know about this game before buying is that it has a matchmaking system, so you can always play with other people and it has voice chat. Single player can be too easy because your squad is really good at doing whatever you tell them to do, but real people? you never know, most are good though.

One of the maps is truly remarkable and it is a map that resembles the aftermath of a mass shooting at a nightclub, where what seems like hundreds of bodies are piled everywhere as you go through the nightclub with your squad in what seems like just minutes after the shooting started. It is also sad because you can hear the cell phones of the dead bodies ringing, where their loved ones are trying to get a hold of them, to no avail.

If you play multiplayer, it is important to stick with your squad. Usually, the person that decides to go off on their own gets killed, quickly. Enemies can sneak up on you and you either are ready or not.

how come the suspect doesnt die when you shoot em more than 4 times in the head???
getting stuck on stairs, trying to change loadout. everything is ok, but when you start mission. none of the equipment you chose is there. cant even choose the MK1 Carbine weapon. it keeps giving me a shotgun..
enenmies know where you are at all times. But with all theese bugs enemies have more armor than players do.

I like the idea of the game.. But releasing a game without even testing it. Forget it. Irritating game for now.

Glue Muncher

Get a few practice rounds in with some bots when I first started playing to get a feel of the game, went decently well. It is a very punishing game, always check your doors for traps and never rush into a room without either using the mirrorstick or having a ballistic shield. You are meant to be very slow and methodical, take your time and never shoot first unless you wanna lose, 9 times out of 10 itll be a hostile, but the one time you shoot first it is a civvy and you lose 300 points. Multiplayer is aids, dont play unless you have a core friend group or you are hosting, the second the host dies they will leave the match and make you rehost, forcing the round to start over, this time a man shorter than last. Overall a good game, buy if you are interested in police sims, or wait for a sale if you are iffy.

The gameplay is fun, intense and interesting, especially when you have to coordinate properly with a group of friends. but after yesterday where I tazed a guy four times, beaten him dozen times and still refuse to surrender, end up hiding behind a simple cover and swallowed his entire gun and blow his own skull open with said gun. This seems like a fantasy game rather than the tactical realism mil-sim I signed up for.

I commend the Devs for putting in the work to make this game great. With fond memories of the original SWAT series, this game is taking it to the next level.

TheWonderBubble
TheWonderBubble

So first off, this game IS early access. It is still in testing and update phase, and there's absolutely some jank in regards to that, most notably with the AI. If you're expecting a perfectly polished game...don't buy early access? Anyways, keeping in mind that this is early access:

This game is awesome. The gunplay is super smooth, and it's very clear that the devs put a lot of time into making sure that they were putting out a realistic shooter without making things so brutally realistic as to be unenjoyable for it. Using your team AI for solo runs is intuitive and easy, with enough options to be effective but not so many as to be cumbersome, while playing with friends that have good communication is just next level efficiency. The recent update drop is outstanding and challenging both, and has me excited for what will come next.

Overall, I'd give it probably an 8/10. The AI being buggy hurts it for sure, because it takes a bit of the realism away and occasionally forces you into set playstyles just to compensate for it (CS gas all the things). But if you enjoy tactical shooters and problem-solving with trying to figure out how to survive and win at CQC with an under-manned team against everything from cave-dwelling crackheads with knives to fully armored terrorists with RPD's and bomb vests, this game is absolutely worth the price, with plenty of replayability and even more to come.

Basically the next gen swat 4. Still needs a lot of work tho but w/ it being an early access game, there are already lots of content to play with so as of this time i'd give it 7.5/10

I recently started playing the new update from 7/1/2022 and have it put it down since. This has been one of the most immersive tactic games I have played with a prodigious sense of realism is so many aspects of the game. Independently each missions persuasion gives the player a new experience each play through. Continuously being worked on this game has reach so much potential and will continue to do so.

This Review ignores the controversial "Supporter Edition" and focuses on the actual state of the game as of the recent June 2022 Update.

Gameplay

- Slow, Tense, and Ultimately Brutal, you will often find yourself carefully moving through each mission, doing your best to cover all of your angles and deal with suspects/civilians appropriately all while obeying law enforcement rules of engagement.
- Enemies will react to your presence: hiding, running, ambushing, faking their surrender, faking their own death, or even taking their own life if pushed far enough.
- Gunplay is solid and satisfying, though SMGs are noticeably inferior to every other weapon at the moment due to how the current damage model works. You will notice this when rifles take a target down in a few shots while SMGs do so with an entire magazine. On top of this, the current implementation of AP and Hollow Point ammo is nonexistent at best, as both these ammo types have the exact same damage and penetration values. (This will undoubtedly be addressed in the future, and thanks to Reddit user 'NaggingPeach' for his analysis of this.)
- A nice variety of mission types, some of them even changing the level layout based on what's selected. That being said, the level design itself is top notch with a superb level of environmental storytelling. The developers pull no punches in this design, so be warned that if you are sensitive to disturbing imagery, this game may not be for you.

AI Behavior

- The AI design in this game is fantastic with the most recent update, as stated above, they will react to your actions appropriately using a morale system, ensuring that you need to stay on your toes in order to effectively deal with them. An armed suspect may immediately open fire if you simply open the door to a room he's in, but if you kick open the door, he may be caught off guard and hesitate. If you blow open the door with C2 he may surrender with little to no resistance at all. It goes further though. If a suspect hears gunfire or other sounds of conflict, they may decide to hide, maybe even preparing an ambush from beneath a bed or inside of a closet.
- With the morale system, getting a suspect to raise their hands is not necessarily the end of it, as they may do so to gain the upper hand by quickly reaching for a sidearm as you move closer. The same goes for their deaths. Watch bodies closely, as 'dead' suspects may fake their death and stand back up the second your back is turned.
- All this praise for the AI, but there are still some kinks to work out. While this has been greatly improved in the recent update, the enemy AI will sometimes 'aimbot' you through walls and cover that you yourself cannot see through very well or at all. On top of this, sometimes they are prone to 180 degree snapshots that instantly kill you. Human reaction time can be insanely fast when fear and adrenaline are taken into account, but there are currently no animations to back this up, so sometimes you will breach a room and witness an AI defy physics, turning to one-shot you in an instant with almost no time to react. Though, this has been acknowledged by the devs, and will definitely be improved on in upcoming updates.

All-in-all, a great game for fans of the SWAT series, but if you want a complete and polished experience, wait for the full release unless you want to see the game evolve over time!

I love my CqB games, & "Ready Or Not!" Is an amazing game it does everything that CqB games fo but does it better. Unfortunately I have NOT messed with Multiplayer yet.(ONLY because I wanna learn the game first before I screw over other people's experiences haha. Nevertheless the only issues I really have is when playing single player my squad members ALWAYS GET IN MY GOSH DARN WAY, to the point of it hindering my enjoyable experience. I would RECOMMEND THIS GAME TOO ALL MY FRIEND'S EASY 8 Outta 10.

SO now that the June update is out whenever you shoot an enemy he will most likely get up even if you have shot him 5 times. They now have added body armor and take a incredible amount of bullets to put down. On top of this they added a shit ton of recoil to each firearm. So now even if you get your shots to hit you will proably have to do it 5 or 6 more times if they dont get up. I think the randomziation it great and is really unique to this game dont get me wrong but when it feels like its happening in every room it breaks that mystery and becomes an annoyance. The shooting aspect of the game was pretty damn good spot on the best there was before the June update. And now since they have added this changes I am having doubts. This game has the potential to be the best.

SLUGBANDY
SLUGBANDY

I can really see the appeal of this game, but playing with randoms is not in that vision. This game would be the most fun with other friends as there's multiple maps, and each map you can set different objectives which have increasing difficulty.
So I can imagine a group of 5 friends going through each map on every difficulty, and that's what I think the intended experience is supposed to be

incelsrisedup
incelsrisedup

Devs are scummy and its a shame because the game itself could be great yet they waste time micromanaging the steam forums, illegally selling 1000 dev keys back to customers as $100usd paypig simp "supporter" editions instead of micro trans and nickle diming why dont you finish the game? Charging for what is essentially a more update and better version of the game and paywalling it is absolutely horrid i dont think ive ever seen a dev act like this in quite some time, refunded and if i could id report them.

The game was great at first, but faulty, and the updates did nothing to solve this. Also, the fact that you had to buy a whole new version of the game just to get the new content is corrupt.

jazz

It's a good game, definitely! I myself was a huge SWAT 4 fan, and this is, and will be a successor. However I refunded it because the game requires teamwork and cooperation, constantly interacting with your teammates and even a bit of role play.

Playing with randoms has proven to be very hard, as barely anybody uses voice communication, and they all rush in like they are playing any generic FPS game, which takes away from the experience. Trying to find people to play with on Discord also proved time consuming.

So if you have 2-3 friends to play this with, buy it, but if you are alone and relying on other people it will take away from the experience.

lokiprime2054
lokiprime2054

Bought the game played it for a bit enjoyed the content that was available, but after playing every map and using every gun and all the gamemodes which took not even 10 hours, ended up waiting for the *big update* which I couldn't play cause my $40 doesn't make me a supporter apparently. So I ended up waiting for today were the content we were all promised finally came out and boom biggest disaster known to man, maps are bland and unoriginal, enemies are stronger than the hulk, and all those new guns (which is a pathetic number of 6) most of them can't even be equipped and by the miracle you do equip them the second you load in the game its gone and replaced with a crappy shotgun. All in all, this game is a pathetic cash grab made by the a scummy developers that took its initial fame to grub up as much money as they could and then rightfully leave us behind. Terrible game, Terrible Developers that's all that needs to be said.

1Chris56

This game is great at first, but the AI is ridiculous. sprinting full speed on a dime and able to simultaneously shoot like Rambo is ridiculous if i cant do it as well. Not to mention peaking a corner and instantly killing me while the gun is not even properly aiming at me or through the wall. Them being able to instantly point and shoot like chris kyle in 1 frame is also annoying.

Heresy

It's not fun to search for evidence for 30 minutes after clearing a mission. What purpose does it serve? Also, the enemies are unanturally skilled fighters. Even a drugged out meth head can kill an officer with one shot in 0,5 seconds, even after being breached and flashbanged.

And what's with the booby traps everywhere?!

The game is not fun. I miss SWAT 3 from 20 years ago.

ognob

horrible devs managed to make swat 4 just worse. Focus on fixing the core mechanics and maybe make levels so that teams of 2-5 can actually play them. John Wicks still a problem despite not being a very difficult fix. They had the opportunity to improve on the old formula instead they farmed cash from all the hype surrounding "swat 5" and put all their efforts into surface level shit. Not to mention the price of this game which it does not warrant, especially the supporter edition. Please fix your bum ass game before you add p2w mechanics.

Rozalitic

Great game in almost all ways, but the dumb AI's ruin the game. Shooting through ways, sensing you the moment you looks at them when they're turned around, etc. is not realistic.

Hanger644

This game’s alpha is very promising, and constant updates from the devs gives me high hopes for its future.

Game play and realism are great, but I wish there were more incentives to play. Currently, you have immediate access to all weapons and supplies, and once you’ve played all the maps there isn't much else to do. Not sure it’s worth 40 dollars at the current state.
