Due to family circumstances, Yuki has only one belief: money will make his little sister happy. And thus, he works part-time jobs late into the night. His plan is to start working full-time after graduation, but his little sister tells him that if he won't go to university, then she won't either.

This will be updated after I finish the game but I have to say this now.

Game is absolutely hilarious and Yuki is everything you know about 'typical' VN protags flipped upside down. He just does NOT care will roast any character (bar his little sister) the very second he is given the option. Love it.

No conclusion on who is best girl can be made thus far. All I know is that Konatsu terrifies me.

Update: I was right to be terrified of Konatsu. I've never felt worse about having to choose between two characters than in this game. Best girl is Tsubaki.

Id say its a decent VN, Story is more comical than dramatic but the story is fun to follow and had a few laughs that were unexpected. Only finished 2 routes but I told myself I should finish all the VNs i have before buying new ones.😭

As a romance/romcom anime fan myself I can easily recommend this to any anime fanatics that like the genre. I was always laughing at least once per play session if not more. Very well published and big bravo to ASa Project for making such a memorable title.

I also can't go without giving a big "thank you" to The August Hail (Check out his YT channel for VN reviews) for finding me such a memorable read.

Koikari is a visual novel where the protagonist is hired to work for a rental service so he can make money for his sister. Along the way the clients he meets ends up falling for him and highjinks ensues.

The common route is relatively entertaining but as soon as you start one of the routes, it becomes kinda boring as you don't really learn more about the characters in their routes and it's more of just happy times now that you've chosen your partner... Route quality is also varying as most of the effort in writing seems to have gone in Emis and Hatsumis routes, as they are given focus in the common routes. Most other routes are inoffensive but don't stand out very much. That aside, the dialogue between characters is where i got the most enjoyment as they bantered among each other. It's very simple for a plot but if you're looking for a more "slice of life" game then this fits the criterea.

Overall I give it a 6/10 as the common route was decent enough to finish and characters are fun, but the routes themselves didn't really contribute anything or add any character development from what you already knew in the common route.

Edit: Oh yeah before I forget Tsubaki best girl.

Shinkai Yuki needs money.

Money for his sister and her wish, that he have to live his life and have to go to university, otherwise she wont go to university as well.
So he have to get money and the best and easiest way is to get hired as a Lover, Paramour, Brother or Friend.

It is a bit tricky for me, to deceide if i really liked this game or if it was a hassle to finish.
I didn't liked the Protagonist, it was sometimes unmeassureable hard to empathize with the main charakter and it was a torture to finish some routes.

I will still give it a thumps up, because I do think and consider it a good visual novel.

The characters are ok, sometimes i wished a bit more depth to them and if you choosed a route the other heroines get pretty much inexistent, as if the writter hadn't enought time to write more about them or as if they had to cut it close, so the game can be released faster. I missed sometimes the interaction with other chars.
I liked the style of the CGs and the BG-music was to my liking.
The storie(s) is (are) ok, this visual novel is solely a ROM-COM, there is no big drama and its mostly all sparkly and colorful.
The Seiyuus did a great job for the synchro, well done!
You can change the font of the text (but better don't do that, otherwise you get unidentified boxes as text.
If you are interested in a R-18 Patch: there is one.

In the end the Visual Novel is for all who look for a sparkly colorful story with less heavyness and more goofiness and an ass main char.

Good work ASaProjekt and Cast.

100% all CGs and endings in 19 hours. 4 main, 2 side and 1 bad ending.

If I had to pick one word to describe this it would be ridiculous. Everything from the plot, characters and routes are ridiculous. If you are looking for a well written story with great romance look somewhere else. This is a turn your brain off game and is pretty enjoyable once you do.

Most of the characters are one dimensional and have no growth. The teacher and twin route are basically fetish bait. Hasumi/Emi are the main routes and unfortunately they are pretty similar with the other girl interfering the entire time. Neither even really have an actual route.

The entire plot is something else. Our MC is a gloomy antisocial loner by day but once he flips his bangs up he pulls a Clark Kent and turns into a chad. Fully capable of of wooing anyone and is actually a hot guy. The best part is no one (except one person) even recognizes him even though most see him every day in school. He also barely cares about any of the girls even in their own route.

The art is great and even better upscaled with Magpie. The voice acting is also great. Music is forgettable.

Before playing: Tsubaki > Twins/Hasumi/Emi
After common route: Hasumi > Tsubaki/Twins > Emi
Route rating: Twins > Tsubaki > Hasumi > Emi

Hasumi is wasted on this protagonist and her route is ruined by Emi being an awful person.

My times:

Common Route - 5.5
Tsubaki - 8.6
Twins - 11.5
Common Route 2 - 13.9
Hasumi - 16.5
Emi - 18.5
Saki - 18.8
Momoko - 19
Bad - 19.1

Really enjoyed most of the characters and their dialog/interactions with each other, especially Emi and Hasumi and their squabbles around the middle.

I will say though that while Emi's and Hasumi's routes were excellent, and everyone else's routes were good, the Twins route was terrible and a chore (although they're more tolerable in the common route). Pursue anyone except for those two and I think you'll have a great time.

Varick of Skellige
Varick of Skellige

The humor was amusing and if i had to grade the quality of the girls story lines as follows are :
1. Tsubaki (do to the more charming sensual way and naturally more 'mature' )
2. Emi ( due to the feeling of proper boyfriend girlfriend relationship developing)
3. The twins ( its just pure humor )
4. Hasumi (for a girl obsessed with him her story felt the most weak )

Again just my preference and view on it.

The CG is okay nothing special but enjoyable still.

Music is nice and has a nice fit for the scenes. \

Sadly can't date best girl Momoko or the drunkard Aki.

Asa Project games are always hilarious and fun. All the characters were great, certain routes were better then others (which is standard for VNs).
I truly loved the twins route due to its sheer hilarity, but Nyuhuhu route was probably the best for anyone looking for a legit romance route . The two minor routes were great as well, truly wished they were a little longer then what felt like 5 mins but still it was great.

Truly enjoyed this, might even come back and play it from start to finish again just for the laughs.

The Big Nasty
The Big Nasty

CAUTION: This VN is a comedy first and foremost. Meaning character development is either non-existent or very limited and logic, both for scenarios and character behavior/dialog, is lacking in favor of being silly.

The lack of depth to the plot and characters is not an issue for the common route. Both parts of the common route were a lot of fun as a sort of "gaggle of idiots" type thing. However, as a result when the VN tries to change tone to pseudo-serious for a route it just doesn't work.

There was 1 route that took its time building up the relationship compared to the others, taking about 7 chapters to get to the lewd. The rest where literally balls deep by chapter 3, less than an hour after starting them. It won't be for everyone. I couldn't even get attached enough to the characters to be bothered to switch to one handed play, despite the lack of typical mosaics.

Hasuni looks like a red haired version of Shiina from Sankaku Renai.
Also like Sankaku Renai, the writing/translation is a bit of a mess, with words that are used unlike the way they are supposed to be used.

This is another VN where the protagonist is an insensitive jerk. I kept wanting to punch him in the nose.

koikari- Love for Hire is a fantastic Visual Novel filled with complex characters and senarios that is only enhanced by a beautiful anime artstyle and breathtaking soundtrack

Characters are all unique and have their own personalities, likes/dislikes and goals. This cleaver creation of characters allows them to be relatable, funny and sometimes annoying. It's not just the main 5 love interests; Semi, Sumi, Tsubaki, Konatsu and chinatsu who have been well thought out. But the side characters and the other two main characters; Yuki and Tsuki who added a lot of funny moments and sometimes out right relatable.

The main story allows for the player to choose who to date (this is enhanced by the R18DLC) but also exactly what decision you want, Each character has their own specific ending (including the two hidden characters) who are a must achieve for 100% completion. The romantic routes are a careful creation of getting to understand each other and flirting. The plot twists and surprises are all well placed and have only slight foreshadowing.

The soundtrack and visuals of this are to a high quality as expected of ASa Project who have also worked on other visual novels like Love triangle troubles and love's a battle that were outstanding. The music comes in at the right times and really allows for a smooth feel while playing the whole game.

My issues with the game only really comes at the "bad" ending which is just a 3 min short route that didn't really flesh out much. Also full scenes are completely skipped if you don't have the R18 DLC which i had issues with working.

The things i loved:
- Soundtrack/visuals
- Relationships between characters and the individuality of them
- overall story

I can see myself replaying this game easily, to finish every route possible in the game took almost 53 hrs alone but they weren't wasted at all.

Overall Rating: 9/10

WHY I DON'T LIKE THIS VISUAL NOVEL:

1) A LOT OF THE DEVELOPMENTS WITH MAN CHARACTERS WERE STARTED BUT ABRUPTLY CANCELED INSTEAD OF BEING FINISHED. THEY DECIDED THEY WERE GOING TO SPEND AN ENTIRE HOUR IN REPEATED ROMANTIC CONVERSATION THROUGH OUT DRAGGED OUT SCENE AFTER DRAGGED OUT SCENE WITH ONE CHARACTER INSTEAD OF FINISHING ANYTHING WITH OTHER CHARACTERS.

EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED TO EVERYBODY?!!! WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THAT CUSTOMER MONEY WASTING BULL CRAP??? FINISH THE DEVLOPMENTS YOU START ASA POJECT!!!!!. DON'T START A BUNCH OF DEVELOPMENTS THAN DROP ALMOST ALL OF THEM SUDDENLY THEN DRAG THE ONE LEFT OUT OF HOURS DANG!!! THIS IS HUGE WASTE OF MONEY FOR THOSE WHO WANTED TO SEE THE DEVELOPMENTS WITH OTHER CHARACTERS PLAY OUT.

2. THE SUPPOSED ROUTES THIS IN THE DESCRIPTION WERE NON EXISTENT IT WAS JUST SERIES OF FACIAL ONLY ANIMATED STORIES THE DEVELOPERS DID WHATEVER STUPID, ANNOYING AND NONSENSICAL THING THEY FELT LIKE WITHOUT ANY CONSIDERATION OF QUALITY OR THE READERS.

3.THEY WAITED TIL NEAR THE END OF THE STORY TO DO A DEVELOPMENT WITH A CHARACTER THAT APPEARED TO BE TA MINOR CHARACTER UP UNTIL THAT POINT ONLY TO CANCEL IT RIGHT AFTER.

4. ALL THEY HAD THE PROTAGONIST DOING WAS BEING AN STRAIT UP VERY VERBALLY ABUSIVE ASSHOLE TO TO BUNCH OF GIRLS THAT JUST WANTED TO BE HIS FRIEND IT WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COMEDY SCENES JUST HE DIDN'T WANT TO BE AROUND ANYBODY OTHER THAN TWO PEOPLE. THEY END THIS WITH THOSE GIRLS NOT REALLY WAITING TO TALK TO HIM ANYMORE THIS ISN'T FUNNY ASA PROJECT.

5. THE ENDLESS DRAGGED OUT MEAN COMMENTS ABOUT EVERY FEMALE CHILD PEER BEHIND THEIR BACK, AND THEIR WERE A LOT OF THEM, THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE VISUAL NOVEL. WAS DOWN RIGHT SICKENING!!!

6. THEY SHOULD HAVE LET THE READERS CHOSE WHICH GIRL THEY WANTED THE PROTAGONIST TO BE WITH IN THE END AND SHOW THE SCENES WITH THAT CHARACTER WINNING OVER THE PROTAGONIST LATER IN THE STORY RATHER THAN CHOOSING FOR EVERYBODY. THAT ANOTHER THING THE 2 HOURS OF CONTENT DRAGGED OUT WITH NOTHING BUT ROMANTIC CONVERSATION BETWEEN THE PROTAGONIST AND THE ADULT WOMAN SHOULD HAVE BEN SPENT ON BUT WASN'T.

THIS VISUAL NOVEL IS CRAP I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AVOIDING IT.

I enjoyed the art work and the voice acting made me feet I understood the emotions and the tone of the game. It was very funny at the beginning for the story and made it enjoyed and having good laughs but picking your Waifu made me feel more attached to the game. I would give a or 4 or 5 rating for the game since I enjoyed it. I wonder if there could always be a minor continuation of the character you picked in their route. Since I always feel I wonder what happens to them but we know it's like a happy ever after in a way.

18+ Patch: https://www.nekonyansoft.com/shop/product/44

For:
People who like little sister type characters
People who want light-hearted romcom with a fairly original premise

Not For:
People who want a deep story
People who don't want to read about others with strong fetishes/obsessions

Renai Karichaimashita is ASa Project's 2019 work and their 2nd game localized by Nekonyan. Before going any further, best to say that I enjoyed this way more than the previous Sankaku Ren'ai, as this one I found way funnier, but don't expect ASa Project's brand of humor to not come through in this work. Renai Karichaimashita is definitely an atypical light hearted comedy.

Probably the most notable thing about this story, the premise. The MC asks every female love interest in this game to pay him for his services. While he does have his reasons, he is far from the typical nice guy MC that you can self-insert into. Instead, he is sometimes rude and wants to give every penny he can on his little sister. This will play a part in most of the routes in the game as the MC, even after starting a route, will still ask for money from the girls and want to spend it and his time on his little sister. If this type of MC turns you off, you might want to avoid this novel.

On top of the premise of the novel, the novel has a pretty interesting set of characters. There is a character who wants to talk about sex or related topics in like half her lines. There are girls who won't stop trying for the MC even after you start a route. There are stalkers, and so on. While this did make for some really unique jokes that made me laugh a lot, there were times where I was a bit disgusted and questioning how much more I wanted to read of that dialogue. On top of that, the characters have very little character development and instead spend most of their time joking about their quirks, so the routes can feel repetitive at times and seem to drag on more than they should.

Feature wise, this novel does meet all the basic needs, but does lack a few nice to haves. Stuff like jump up the backlog, jump to previous/next decision, continue on open, colored read text, and the like are all there. However if you come from a Yuzusoft game and want chapter select, flow chart, saving voices, or controller mapping, you're out of luck. Besides that, the game is also limited to 1600 x 900 resolution, but that isn't that atypical for a VN.

Renai Karichaimashita is definitely a unique VN that showcases ASa Project's brand of humor, but those same strengths can be a turnoff to certain types of people and sometimes a hindrance to the writing. While I do think this is a solid piece of work worth trying, I would also say it is definitely not the best thing I read nor something for everyone.

A lovely VN. Charming heroines (but Sumi) and side characters, almost no drama, many wholesome moments, not an obnoxiously dense MC, and a story in which you can turn your brain off and chill. Great after playing a nakige, or a heavy game.

The music isn't memorable, but it has great +18 scenes, a good mix of wholesomeness and erotism

You can play the routes in any order you want, and you won't miss anything if you don't play the route of a heroine you don't like. But if you want to play them in the branching order, it would be:
Sensei->Twins->Saki->Momoko->Emi/Sumi

How much did I enjoy the heroines and routes?

-Sensei: It's my favorite, and well, I love having a teacher as a heroine. As far as her personality and reactions go, think of "Mifuyu Kirisu" from "Bokuben". Her amount of cuteness is a one-way ticket for the Nirvana.
I loved every single moment from her route. It's pure wholesomeness with zero drama or tense moments. Just a couple being chummy. For me, she has the best chemistry with the MC.

-Emi: Because of the reason of the reason she had to rent the MC I thought I wasn't going to like her, but in the end, I fell in love with her. The way she acts is just too lovely to not like her. At moments she is somewhat annoying, but her positives overshadow everything else. She is a tsundere, but on the deredere side of the spectrum.
Getting to her route is a drag, since you have to push through a series of shitty rom-com love triangle situations. Once you enter her route, it becomes all flowers and rainbows.

-Twins: A disappointment. I really liked them but their route is basically a nukige. There is no chemistry between them and the MC, and It's an extremely forced relationship.

Momoka: She has a similar personality than the sensei, and she deserved her own route. Maybe in a fandisc? :C

Sumi: I didn't bother in playing her route, she is stupidly annoying.

Pretty entertaining so far, the story is pretty much like Rental Girlfriend except it's a guy trying to save money for college because his little sister says she won't go to college if he doesn't. That's the entire plot.
played the twins route which had a lot of laughs. One is a tsundere who is tired of being the big sister and wants to be doted on by a big brother, the other is kinda the wild card of the series who says outrageous things and is super horny. She has her own desires that you figure out later in their route but she mostly wants her sister to be happy so works to pay for her hired big brother.

The game seems to push you towards the blonde or the redhead and they are the cover girls so I'll probably try their routes next, it seems like they are the main characters and there is a bit of a love triangle going on. Will probably find out more playing their route but they are childhood friends who are kinda jealous of each other for different reasons and then both go after the same guy. The other route is a cram school teacher who is super lazy and under pressure to be in a relationship so pays our MC to pretend to be her lover to trick her drunk cousin, I dunno I found this one the most dumb out of all of them so I'm in no hurry to do the route. Because the game wants you to pick the blonde or the redhead you spend more time with them than the others outside of their routes and you see a lot of classroom scenes where they talk with their friends about random stuff. They also spend more time with the main character than anyone else.

The side characters are a mix of whatever mostly, there is the horny girl who wants every guy until she meets them and finds a reason to turn them down, the girl who acts all lesbian for the redhead but then seems into the big dude, the big dude who is the big brother of a friend of the twins who somehow becomes your friend. You also have your younger sister who the MC dotes on and has an obsession with, she mostly acts as an annoying cock block through the thing whenever you bring a girl home with you because she apparently has zero social life or anything to do than sit at home waiting for you to show up.

The art is bright and colourful and the voice acting is decent quality as is the stock music you get in a VN. SFX are super basic, there is a crow sound that plays a few times to signify a day passing and it sounds like they just got some guy to make a crow sound and threw it in or it was a placeholder they forgot about. Not many SFX in scenes at all so you don't really get a sense of any atmosphere. Sprite numbers are good there is a decent number of sprites per character, backgrounds okay, there is enough but some locations get very repetitive and somehow all of the characters only go to these exact places.

In any case this is one of the more degenerate VNs so all of this doesn't really matter so much. There is a patch to add in uncensored content on the developer's website for all the bits you really paid for. Sometime's it's nice to play a VN that isn't trying to be edgy or deep but I do kinda wish the characters in this had a bit more development and interesting story arcs on their routes. It mostly consists of random dates and encounters where you talk about random stuff interspersed with ecchi scenes that get more and more explicit as they go on. Lack of depth aside the comedy is good, lots of funny wordplay and situations and the decent, colourful sprites carry this VN a long way. There are a decent number of choices to make that have different outcomes with some deciding what route you choose eventually.

I think it's worth playing so long as you know what you're in for and if you're already considering buying it then you probably already know what it's all about. 6/10 would become Onii-chan for twins again.

Koikari - Love For Hire

Some things you just can't buy with money.

Preclaimer

- This is an Adult Visual Novel - one with a free R18 Patch (obtainable at NekoNyan's webshop) at that - designed to be R18, which is why I consider the R18 content part of the whole and will include it in this review. If for whatever reason you are not interested in this content, or aren't legally allowed to play it, you should just skip this review.
- Since many Visual Novels are similar in a bunch of ways, I'm gonna review this one on a few common aspects, referencing the predecessor from ASa Project.
- This is my first impression. I will update this review as I progress further through the game.

[hr]

Graphical & Technical Quality

If you know the predecessor title from ASa Project - Sankaku Renai - then you already have a pretty good idea of what exactly you can expect. If not, let me introduce you once more:

Koikari is a comedy focused eroge and what I'd consider an upper mid-tier Visual Novel. Sure, the overall quality seems notably better, but in the end they stuck with what they know - that means we get nice visuals in sadly only 720p, static character sprites that only change at best once mid-sentence and no animation except for some commonly used camera shaking.

Though as I said it still looks notably better overall as the artwork quality went up and the soundtrack this time around is much more enjoyable too, albeit still not looped - meaning silent gaps between each playthrough of a track.

When it comes to technical features I have to say it feels kinda like a downgrade at some points.
The detailed "bookmark" saving system with all the information tags on the theoretically unlimited save slots was replaced by 200 default KiriKiri engine save slots. No custom comments (and very short auto-description), no moving, no sorting, just information from which route it is. The Scene Viewer too only shows the chapters of each route and wether it contains one or more normal or route changing choices.

At least the gallery is still sortable and the gimmick with rotating the images is still there, alongside the addition of a simple Sprite Viewer and the in-engine screenshot functionality commonly seen on recent KiriKiri titles.

This feature comes in pretty handy, for Koikari has one major bug (alongside two smaller things): The Steam Overlay hook is severely crippled. It only react like once every couple seconds, making the overlay itself nearly unusable, and only when the game is in focus and the dialogue box is displayed, making taking F12 screenshots a pain.

Finally, the translation - aside from the usual handful of missing words - is solid and does a good job of keeping (or re-creating) puns and jokes, which is a comedy's forte after all.

Content & Runtime

So, what can you expect from this game?
A romantic comedy centered around money and where its value ends.
Yuki Shinkai is a gloomy loner that only cares for two things in the world: Money and his little sister, the only family he has left. Though everything is bound to change one day - when said sister urges him to go to university, or she won't go either!

Now with the need for even more money to be able to go where his one-and-only wants him to while also focussing more on school, he needs a better source of income - and what better way is there than following some shady start-up business in selling human services even to students? Of course, as the predictable, comical turn of events Yuki soon finds himself surrounded by mostly familiar faces: Being the pretend-boyfriend of his seat neighbor in class, the paid friend of his middle school crush, show-off paramour of his prep school teacher and rental Onii-chan of the horniest twin-sister duo in the world. And what about those two lonely sidekicks?

Soon Yuki finds himself between a rock and a hard place - or rather 14 overly big mounds of unnecessary body fat - trying to keep everything secret from everyone else while also not getting attached to his "work" himself, though he has to learn the hard way that there are some things money can't buy...

Compared to its predecessor, Koikari is less of a fully forced comedy play but still hilariously humorous through the entire story. Furthermore, they heavily extended the one unique concept Sankaku Renai threw into the mix: Actual love drama.
Some great minds already said "Comedy is Tragedy plus time", but still - why does a comedy-focused VN like this with its over-the-top setting and carefree attitude be one of the only eroges I know that include the realistic fact, that not every love rivalry ends in a happy harem world and broken hearts can be unavoidable, when even in tear-inducing nakiges everything usually goes fine?

Anyway, for this drama to happen and the laughs to be had we get a cast of two main, two side and two bonus heroines, as well as a handful of sidekicks. The main heroines are grouped against each other on their own "vs. route" like back in Sankaku Renai, the rest is free for pickup through the story.

Each of the characters has a distinct personality with two sides to it, though of course mostly serving comedic stereotypes. Except for one (she was designed that way) all the sidekicks are enjoyable and the protagonist is an actual character with a face.

Choosing a route happens with up to 12 choices of which the relevant and irrelevant ones can be easily identified - they also get tagged as such in the scene menu. Considering the Common Route takes around 15h, the vs. route another 5h and a character route somewhere under 10h, Koikari as a whole can offer you up to 60h of not rush-skipped entertainment.

Clearing the first route unlocks the gallery and the simplified Sprite Viewer, with their 74 CGs, 10 Manga-level SD artworks and 30 OSTs.

The R18 content

Just like before, there is not that much of note here.
The H-Scene count per character has gone up to 5/6 per main character and 2 for side characters, though their content is as simple as before. They are a bit longer but without any notable build-up or afterglow.

There are no sound effects, no background moaning and no choices.
No inhuman stamina, unlimited body fluids or unbelievably intense action - nothing out of the ordinary Hentai-level, most of the time at least.
We get a sneak pee(k) attack and a serious pregnation fetish.

And there are nude sprites, freely accessable in the Sprite Viewer, for every character (yes, even the non-heroine characters and yes, even the male sidekick). Except for the important parts of said nude sprites and censorship beeps the game is fully uncensored and just like with Sankaku doesn't look too weird.

Conclusion

Is this game worth it?
If you were happy with the predecessor and want more of the same, are looking for some (mostly) lighthearted entertainment and don't care too much about VNs acting far older than they are, sure, Koikari is totally worth it. Sankaku was great and this one is a solid successor.
Though if you are looking for a serious romance drama or the best of the modern best VNs, then you should probably look elsewhere.
Anyway, the next sale is always around the corner!

I just finished 2 routes and I think this game is great, sure the protag can be a stupid shitty money shark but I like to see him change while talking to almost no one in the beginning and after a while you realize he is changing and that is great.

So overall this game is nice to play and made me laugh a lot and it's fun to play.

PS: The ending of the Saki route is amazing haha but I won't spoil it for you!

Before anything else, if you're planning to finish Hasumi route I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND you clear (or even ignore) Emi first. This is because the writer decided to incorporate Emi in a really annoying way during Hasumi route and that may prevent you from completing Emi route.

With that said it's a VN that focuses on comedy and lots of adult jokes (at least with 18+ patches). The overall premise is pretty interesting seeing how "rental" business becomes more relevant nowadays, although keep in mind it's only for the backdrop and largely abandoned later on. The characters are fine too for the most part since they'll grow on you over-time

Unfortunately compared to the previous Asa project, the love-triangle aspect in this one is handled pretty poorly ESPECIALLY during Hasumi route. I'm not sure why they turn Emi like that but I guess if you're into a clingy type of character it wouldn't be that insufferable.

Either way, my favorite route would be: Tsubaki > Hasumi > Twins > Emi

    • Tsubaki - The most romantic one with pretty good jokes here and there that also the best ending out of all
    • Hasumi - Could be higher but Emi kinda sours the experience for me. Still can't beat unrequited love AND money!
    • Twins - Basically full-on comedy with lots of adult jokes. Fun times overall
    • Emi - Finishing Hasumi route first is a mistake...

And there you go, overall if you're into comedy with lots of adult jokes this one for you.

the comedy is a good hit.
Bakki best girl, and also best route. I enjoy twins route cause of the 3P. and don't really enjoy sumi and semi route cause of they constantly annoy each other at their respective route (and the fact author/dev doesn't even try to give at least a 3P on their route is such a turn off).

I hope momo get a better story/route in future (not just this mere ex)

7/10: Good, but needs more meat.
The common route is great, however there's nothing really that keeps you hooked after you start a route.
That being said, I still enjoyed it as a carefree rom-com and recommend it to people who also like those kinds of VNs.

Sumi was so good that I now feel bad :DDD
Ah, Bakky was hella good too, but Sumi gave that unrequited vibe too well
Emi... hm... she was fine, not bad, nor good either. I'd say her was indeed wholesome, but like, lacking some sort of a push to actually dive into.
The twins, I'd say they had been overshadowed by other heroines. To my opinion, the writer tried to make their personalities somewhat "twisted", just to be standing out, and it backfired.
Momoko and Saki, true, their were like solely for fanservicing, so there weren't much or to ask for.

um...I don't really know about this one. firstly it's annoying how the jks I was actually interested in are stashed away at the end. i didn't really care for the oppai loli twins or the schoolteacher gamer, the latter because she was literally me to an uncanny degree, so I had to just shut that shit off. speaking of the gamer girl, it would have been a cool localization if they had shown her dropping some n-bombs mid-game like a true gamer. just kinda breaks immersion when she's calling her teammates brainless monkeys instead of what she should be calling them. especially if she's playing something like overwatch and they're running two healbots or double off tanks? i would mouth off hard enough to get a forced 2 week vacation from the game.

the H scenes are just bad. i mean i don't expect anything good from vanilla eroge but who the hell says "I just tasted your saliva" to someone while having sex? Wouldn't that be something more for the narrator to describe rather than the participant? other than that its just the typical girl moaning for 5 minutes until the screen flashes white and you're done. it's like no moege authors can do erotic writing to save their lives. as much as I hated Subahibi, at least the H-scene writing was good, although the scenes themselves were revolting and impossible to get off to. anyways best girl is obviously Sumi since she's the only one with any semblance of personality. the rest of the girls were just yawn. Emi is just a moeblob caricature, the oppai twins could only talk in sex jokes, gamer girl is too old and crotchety (she's mid-20s I think but in typical Japanese fashion she has the maturity and body of a woman in her early 30s), and the imouto, for all the protagonist is played up for being a siscon, has no route. overall it's ok.

I had an idea of what to expect going into this because I've read another one of ASa project's works, Sankaku Renai: Love Triangle Trouble, which I thought was alright but definitely not great. Koikari is an improvement in art quality and general writing. The game engine feels extremely limited however, mainly it lacks in options you can change. The music was okay, but it wasn't great and sometimes ruined the setting because it just didn't fit. The real reason I can't really recommend this is because of how little substance there is. There are only a few choices that will determine what route you get, with the other ones just there as filler/for-fun choices, which is totally fine actually. This game does suffer the same problem as Love Triangle Trouble, where it wants to be a mostly comedic VN with romance, but it relies on tropes and the same jokes throughout the entire thing to carry it out. This works fine at the start, but falls flat extremely quick once the reader reaches the choices that determine the routes. Having played through most of the routes, including the side ones, there is only one main route that was worth doing and I really wish one of the side routes was a main option or replaced any of the existing ones.

I found the idea of a rental service worker turning into potentially real romance to be a really interesting concept. It started out okay, but at some point, it just feels like they hit the brake on actual substance and just reused the same jokes, and the whole rental thing just becomes a thing of the past. Some spoilery stuff, but this will be my explanation as to why I find Tsubaki's route to be the only one worth doing and the other ones are just not fun. Tsubaki is meant to be portrayed as an older woman figure with no love experience, but still a romance option. In reality, she could still be considered a young adult considering her age, just bordering that, so she is more mature and has more life experience than the other girls. The fact that she is just a young adult with no love experience when she's so beautiful is somehow the most conflict and substance that any of the routes have besides one of the side routes in my opinion. Momoko is a side route with a similar idea of being someone without romantic experience, except she really chose not to pursue it and later changes her mind as she sees her friends fight each other over it. The Tenma and Emi routes are literally just a bad mix of romance, reused comedy and them bickering with each other on who should be with Yuki and it's just so boring to read over and over again with no real conflict. There substance up until you had to make the decision to either choose one of them or not choose either. I enjoyed it at the start but it got old real fast, with the comedy being really mid, which sucks when it seems like that is supposed to be one of the main points. It sometimes felt like the writers didn't know which parts should be just comedy or just romance and decided to try for the best of both worlds, and failing because the tone wasn't set properly. There's a lack of motivation to care for a lot of these characters, with their only saving grace being the diversity in their tropes and the way they interact with each other.

Koikari : Love For Hire or Renai Karichimashita is a great visual novel and some hardcore scenes especially for eroge lover. More to spiritual success of previous title from Asa Project.

The story of the game take place where the main character is in desperate decision to find money just to raise his family which is his little sister only for further studies for them in the future. He took a rental jobs and stumbled against these heroines that have their own circumstances to rent him. More to discover as the main character will in love with them throughout his jobs.

The visual novel took place way serious than Sankaku Renai but the humour of this VN still there as well. Enough about comparison, the game have small issues which is the fps is very unstable (or probably my pc requirement is low spec) but runs well and no glitches. The game has no typo as all and very clean.

As for storyline and minor spoiler, the visual novel does't really focus much on high school life but more to they want to graduate too. The common route of the game is really mediocre but the characters routes some are good and some just too short for a side character (there is one character deserved more love than the main heroine in my opinion). The game definitely focus on eroge genre.

For my own review, the visual novel is mediocre and I have less complain about it. I just glad Nekonyan still translated asa project VN considered they released Sankaku Renai long time ago. Probably one of my fav game by humour. It doesn't have that 4th wall jokes as Sankaku Renai but it's a good story. I demand more Momoko Route please :'). 10/10 from me.

Make sure you download the 18+ patch at their main website https://nekonyansoft.com/ for Koikari.

35 hours in, finished most of the main routes and yeah, I definitely recommend. It's nothing amazing like Grisaia or Riddle Joker, but it's definitely fun to play. What I enjoyed most about it was the comedic value and the premise itself. You're literally a sarcastic, goofy dude who only cares about his sister and money, and gets paid to date/hang out with anime girls. Self explanatory. All in all, the MC is funny as hell and most of the girls have pretty enjoyable personalities (Emi and Tsubaki best girls) and the story isn't bad at all. I wish it was a little more interactive in terms of how choices matter, but eh, it is what it is. If you like games like Riddle Joker, Sabbat of the Witch, Aokana etc etc, you'll like this.

How do you wanna be called: Temporary Agency Worker or Onii-chan for Hire?

Koikari is the latest localized Visual Novel from the developers at ASa Project. After Sankaku Ren’ai: Love Triangle Trouble it’s the next game that has been picked up by NekoNyan.

The Story revolves around Yuki. A gloomy student who only really cares about one thing in this world, his little sister. When his sister declares that she won’t go to a university unless her brother does as well, he knows something needs to change. But going to University costs money, a lot of money. During his research, he stumbles upon a job posting that claims to pay enormous sums for little work. Following the shady advert, he applies, and soon he finds himself being a rental human.

His job has him play different characters for different customers. One girl wants him to be her boyfriend, while a pair of sisters want him to be their older brother. While each role itself isn’t hard to perform, it doesn’t take long until each role clashes with each other and lies have to be upkept. But as long as the girls have enough money to keep this lie up there won’t be any problems, right?

The premise of the game offers a lot of fun. Due to the circumstances of being a rental boy a lot of accidental situations happen. So while we have a plethora of funny interactions, the plot itself barely advances. It’s not a complicated story by any means. Without its hilarious characters and dialogue, the story itself would feel dry and uninteresting. But who do we actually meet in this Visual-Novel?

The first character we meet is Emi. A beautiful and attractive girl who seems to have a lot to offer for other boys. But in reality, she is just a show-off, lying to her friends about her relationship status. In dire need of a boyfriend, she turns to our offered services. Now we are stuck with a lying, temperamental pretend-girlfriend.

On the other side of the ring, we’ve got Hasumi. Due to her family money was never a problem for her, and it shows. Hasumi is easily able to buy us off for a whole vacation to be her friend. Now we are stuck with a girl that pretends to be a “Badass” in her free time, that likes cheese way too much. But are her intentions really pure or does she want something different from us?

I believe at this point it’s important to mention that Emi and Hasumi share a long route together before their routes split off. But even after choosing one of them, you don’t exactly get rid of one of them. You are gonna experience an ongoing battle between friends and rivals.

Next up we’ve got Chinatsu and Konatsu. Just reading those names strike fear in me. If you thought either Emi or Hasumi were crazy then you haven’t experienced those two. They may share the same goal, but they want to approach it differently. While Chinatsu wants to mostly be babied and have a dependable older brother Konatsu just wants to satisfy her earthly urges. While both want to have “Onii-chan” for themself, they don’t battle it out in the open Like Emi and Hasumi. I think it’s needless to say that one day you might find yourself being shared between those two sisters.

As the last main heroine, we’ve got Tsubaki. She is the oldest of the cast. At twenty-five years old she is long out of school and already being a teacher at cram school herself. Due to her affinity for computer games, she never had a boyfriend. Pressured from her family she decides to hire us as a paramour. Will this be enough to fool her parents?

It sure is notable that a lot of time gets to spend with Emi and Hasumi. But it never felt as if other heroines get left in the dust. Each heroine appears regularly in other routes. There we get to see how each heroine bounces off another. We see Emi’s and Hasumi’s reaction to Konatsu’s shenanigans or Emi’s face when she has to defend her relationship in attendance of her boyfriend’s paramour. Those are the driving factors that make Koikari great.

Besides the main routes we get some side routes that aren’t exactly long but it’s still nice to have those.

The sexual content isn’t exactly something outstanding. We get a lot of vanilla scenes with the odd outfit in between. But overall those are pleasant to read and do feel engaging and lewd.

If you want the sexual content you either have to buy the game on Denpasoft or get the free patch from Nekonyan if you want the Steam Version. It’s nice to see that the scenes themselves don’t feature any mosaics. Something which struck out odd was the white circle on the lower body on the naked sprites.

Something I didn’t like was the music. It just felt as if something was missing in every song. The background songs weren’t unfitting or straight-up bad, but they just didn’t feel rich in sound. Compared to HaremKingdom or Sugar*Style, Koikari just couldn’t deliver in that aspect. The same goes for the voice acting. The characters all had fitting VAs but nothing really stood out from them.

Overall I had a great time with Koikari – Love for Hire. NekoNyan delivered a great product once more. The overarching story was great. It set up funny situations that featured the girls brilliantly. If NekoNyan decides to translate the Fandisc as well it surely would be a must-buy from me!

The writing was surprisingly funny and I love the achievement names. There's also quite a few pop culture references which I enjoyed. Admittedly though, I got pretty tired of a few of the heroines by the end. Overall, I it was a fun time but drags on a bit too long if you do every route.

Very average. Nothing very creative was done with the routes so it felt like a copy paste of most other generic VNs you can find on here, almost template'y. If you're new to VNs you might find it more enjoyable as a first endeavour into the genre. I found some of the characters rather annoying just in terms of the voice volume (relative to the others), such as Chinatsu with her constantly peaky, shouty voice and Saki's voice also ranges from too quiet to blaringly loud.

The Emi route would probably be considered the main route, with the others being more secondary. Tsuki's route was a lost opportunity, as I liked the character design but the route and writing felt so uninspired :(

I'd give it a 5.5/10. Not awful but very safe and boringly unoriginal.

It's not bad for what it is, I would recommend it to someone who is into lots and lots and lots of sex jokes. The only thing that bothered me was that the crude jokes came in at the wrong times.
It could be a really good VN with a really heartwarming emotional story, but it falls flat in that department.
If you're into H-Scenes, the company offers a FREE 18+ patch for all the scenes that would make some parts make more sense.
All-in-all, it isn't bad at all, I don't regret buying it and if you're into this kind of story, you won't either!

Going in blind i can say especially for a visual novel this game is pretty good. The characters are very likable except the drunk and twins. The pacing of it was good as well and i felt when i had the choice on picking which route to take i was conflicted from it was hard to chose which girl. When i went in i thought Emi would be my first route out of them but no, and once i had the choice to pick her i didn't know if i wanted her or say Hasumi. Art Style is as good as ever. The story is pretty neat and long and worth your money. It also has 6 route that you can take and each one of them have unique personality, I personally prefer Hasumi, I really like her personality and looks. Honestly a decent VN, but I feel like there are better choices if you want pure romance SOL type VNs
also compared to other VNs, the sub-heroine routes are EXTREMELY short and underwhelming (by short I mean like less than 1 hour long)
ranting about things I disliked aside, I really like the artstyle (though I wish there were more of those chibi style cgs) and there are some good running jokes that keep the entire thing fresh. Also each heroine definitely show their personalities very well so it makes the underwhelming things negligible

The common route was fun but the heroines’ routes aside from sensei route left me with much disappointment. The love triangle plot wasn’t resolved completely as all which left a pretty sour taste since the author tried too hard to implement drama inside a comedic-focused story. Nonetheless, Koikari was still a decent read for comedy-lover, but don’t expect anything serious even if it appears so.

It took a while for me to pick a VN that I wanted to play. I am glad this was the one to introduce me back this genre of games.
First play through regardless of which route you go through is definitely the most memorable. Characters are brimming with their own unique problems and personalities. You don't really pay attentions to the background scenes because of the characters and their VOs.

Now... Time to be serious...
I recommend playing through this with the 18+ patch mentioned in earlier comments. Without it... unfortunately there is no smooth transitions once you reach your desired routes. You will experience the absence of large chucks of text, which makes you curious about what really happened. If you're not into eroge, that is totally fine. BUT! It isn't nearly as enjoyable.

One thing that is missing from the game --> "Panic Button" ROFL.

This game is a psychological experiment created by the government, i am wholeheartedly convinced.

A basic plot overview. The MC, Yuki, is a sis-con and wants his sister to go to college so he wants to start working right after he graduates. Little sister says she'll only go if he goes. So now mc needs to get money to fund his own trip to college. He then sells himself on craigslist as a personality for hire. All of his customers are females, and well you get the idea from there. This game is 18+, but the h scenes have to be patched in and are not available on steam.

I have read this game word for word in a discord call with my friends for 40 hours. I have come to the conclusion that this game was made to psychologically torment you into questioning your every life decision. Everything in this game is just hypocritical and nonsensical to the point where if this isn't a psychological experiment I hope to god it is a joke.

Lets go over why exactly I think this.

P.S For context later I did patch in the h scenes (Don't do it please)

First off the art style is appealing, and the cgs are well made. Every line is voice acted, and for what its worth, the voice acting is really good. The music is very basic, but some of the tracks are good. My only gripe on the music is its mixed very poorly so you'll go from having to turn it way up, to way down randomly while you're playing. Also this game loves to put the same exact song every time an h scene is about to come up and its down right traumatizing. This game does have very nice audio sliders and general VN quality of life options so that's good.

Now the story...

First ill start with general bits. The writing overall is so... draining to read. The translation is good? There are very few grammatical mistakes. The thing that perplexes me about the writing in this game, is the word choice. They will go from using very basic English to OXFORD DICTIONARY LEVELS OF ENGLISH. I am not even kidding when I say I had to have a dictionary tab open on my pc while playing this game. Its so disorienting to be reading very standard dialogue and then all of the sudden run across a word that I have never heard, read, or said in my entire life. This part of the writing is one of the reasons why I question if its a torture experiment.

The plot-line itself has a pretty decent setup actually. Yuki, the mc, while being a sis-con and generally unlikable is so hilariously obsessed with making money at the start of the game that it kind of deviates from what you'd originally expect when purchasing this game. However when engaging into one of the routes this take a very sharp turn and he will start well, simping. The main 2 routes are girls from his class. And you as the reader have to decide if you want Yuki to end up with the childhood friend, or a new romance. I think the setup for these routes are the only 2 real ones in the game. As the dynamic between the mc and these 2 girls is entertaining and feels fleshed out. THAT BEING SAID, the main routes in this game are EXTREMELY LONG and involve lots of moments where I was sitting there thinking, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON. AND YOU HAVE TO READ HOURS OF THIS RANDOM NONSENSE TO EVEN GET TO THE PART WHERE THE MC WILL START TO DATE THESE CHARACTERS. Once you do start dating them, you wanna know how the story progresses from there? YOU RAW DOG IT WITH THEM EVERY 3-4 SCENES WITH VERY DISGUSTING H SCENES. And then when you finally get to the finish line, its just...underwhelming. The game puts you through hours of excruciatingly long scenes of diolauge, just for something very basic and predictable to happen at the end of every ending. Making me wonder why I willingly paid money for this garbage. And then I think about what ending I want to do next.

It never ends.

Before I wrap this review up, there's one ending in particular that really made me question continuing to play this game.

The twins route. The basis of this route is these 2 girls hire you to be their pretend *onii-chan*. Yeah, but at first its not as bad as you'd think it would be. The older sister isn't honest with her feelings and the younger one is WAY too honest with her feelings. Its kind of funny and cute at the beginning, and then you engage with their route. Once you get to their route, you'll have a question looming in the back of your head. Why is the steam achievement for both of the sisters, when I'm only dating one of them? Well I'll tell you why. Because yes, at the beginning you are dating the older sister. But once you get to the first h scene SHE WILL THEN PROCEED TO CUCKOLD HERSELF FOR NO REASON. AND THEN YOU HAVE A 3 SOME WITH THEM. LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK AM I READING RIGHT NOW. AFTER THAT YOU WILL JUST RAW DOG IT AT EVERY AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY. Keep in mind, that you have had to sit through hours and hours of dialogue just to get to this point and have this happen.

The other side routes are just kind of predictable and bland so I wont get into them.

Overall this game is filled with serious dialogue and story, and in the same stride the shittiest dialogue and memes you have ever seen in your life. It is excruciatingly long and makes 0 sense. But despite all of that, I have the urge every few weeks to continue reading and obtain all of the endings. I think in order to understand what I'm talking about to the fullest extent, you need to play this game for yourself. And for that reason, I must recommend this game.

The visual art is amazing, the story is quite interesting, and also the perfect mix of comedy and romance

I finished about two days ago. Never really had a thing for imoutos, especially sex crazy ones, so by route order I went Sumi > Emi > Momo > Saki > Twin > Tsubaki.

Twins route, I skipped almost every other line, and by the end of it I went, huh, that was it? Didn't leave much of an impression for me.

Eri route had me reading almost every line and listening to her voices, her tsukkomi and expressions just made it fun to read.

Sumi route had me enjoying her cutesy reactions, but even though I finished it, I still hear nyuhuhu sometimes in my head. My only gripe was how it was slightly similar / intertwined with Emi's route. I guess those who read Sumi route first might feel the same when reading Emi's route next.

I kind of like onee-sans, so Tsubaki was my last route. And I did not regret it. The playful banter was interesting, and to my personal opinion, I think this route had much more character development for the MC, the girl, and their future (honestly her epilogue CG is the best in the VN) compared to the rest of the girls and their respective routes.

But to each their own, every one has their own preferences :D
