This game is really great, the career mode is a bit boring and repetitive. Actually what would be really amazing for the Ride series is a 'horizon' version of the game. I want to ride and simulate a motorcycle in real world conditions with traffic, and just ride around in an open world with other players. Let me build that score multiplier for a long wheelie :)

Overall this is a nice game to explore different motorcycles in, almost like a sales brochure, but for real fun would be great in an open world setting.

Fun game to get on and run laps by yourself but the AI is way too good, even at the easiest settings. I spend most of my time knocking them off their bikes just to have a shot at winning. Getting past even the first part of the career mode is a major wall for most players to climb and it's the biggest reason that most people quit.

I can't believe this is from the same developer that released that hot mess SBK 22!!!!
In my humble opinion, this is still the best bike game in terms of graphics, game play and physics. Currently, I am really enjoying the 300 and 600cc series, as I find them to be more forgiving than the faster more aggressive machines. I am not very familiar with the biking world, but this game has already encouraged me to start watching the real life sport.
Be warned this has a very steep learning curve, just be patient and chip away at it. Once you get a hang of the cornering, track layouts and bike setups, the game will become much less frustrating. At the beginning, it is a struggle to advance in the career mode, but once you unlock better bikes and customisation, it starts to ease up exponentially.

This game is one of the greatest motorcycle games out there. That said it has a steep learning curve, little to no tutorial or training. AI is challenging even at the "very easy" difficulty. The closest you're going to get as far as hand holding is you start out on lower CC (slower) bikes at the start and steadily move up. most of the dlc is not worth full price so wait for sale. Positive notes are that it's still a great looking game, you can customize your rider and bike with downloadable content from other players, or create your own in the paint/decal creator. You can have REWIND if your crash, change the riding style from realistic to more arcade handling. day/night cycle, variable weather, and simulated tire wear if you choose to have it on or not. The lean change from side to side can feel sluggish, but it has to do with tuning your bike and correlation of speed to the turn in. Detail of tracks and bike models is very accurate and stunning. Biggest flaw is that if you want to 100% achievement the game you have to buy dlc.

overall review... get out and ride.

i own every ride game and i put my fair share of time onto all of them.. except the first one, the first one isnt good so i bought ride 4 expecting it to be fun but

the ai is a mess and will often take you out by being ridiculously aggressive, i played for 40 minutes so far and i got taken out on every single race i tried to play which is ridiculous and makes it not fun for me at all, i cant say i recommend this game off those grounds alone

if you enjoy doing time trials and what not then maybe it is for you but for racing im not too sure

i always sought the successor to "Gran Turismo of Bike Sims" after Polyphony Digital themselves created Tourist Trophy. RIDE 4 has done that as well as introducing me to three of the Real Roads circuits so I can experience the razor's edge of the riding the roads at Ireland's Ulster GP Dundrod circuit, Ireland's Northwest 200's triangle circuit and The Isle of Man's Southern 100 circuit. Of course there's dozens of other real and fantasy tracks, including Nurburgring GP and Nordschleife circuits. So many different stock, Supersport and Suberbike choices as well as Endurance bikes too. I indulge myself in the rewind feature after decades of being a purist. It makes for way better replays! Really recommend this one to all.

I've only ever played one motorcycle game in the past, MotoGP 2015. This is by far one of the best racing games I've ever played. Cars or bikes. It's the Forza of motorcycles racing games. Lets you modify your bikes, race in different classes and groups. Tons of different kinds of bikes. Tons of tracks. Very realistic. Amazing game overall.

Don't get me wrong this game is really fun, if you can adjust to the controls. The game is so hard that if you can't get the hang of it you will ultimately just be pissed with the physics.

Ride 4 is one of the best motorcycle racing game I've ever played and the visual and handing are so real, downside is the god level AI, no matter what skill you have the AI rides on they are unbeatable and that's seem to be unfair

Cheaters run rampant in this game.. There's no way to report them in the game, and I've reported multiple people through the Steam client, and they still do not get banned. Wouldn't recommend playing until that issue is fixed.. Which the developers don't seem to care because they have an already dwindling playerbase..

I started playing the game in 2022 so I don't know what it was like before the update, but I can say that it's very challenging and enjoyable in its current state. There is a very steep learning curve that I still haven't quite ascended after 40 hours. My biggest complaint is that there aren't any tutorials let alone loading screen tips. Regardless, I've never played a racing game this fun before, and riding through corners in first person is a blast. Occasionally for a brief moment I find myself forgetting that I'm playing a game, and as someone who is on a hiatus from riding motorcycles, I find it's moments like these that bring me joy even more so than winning a race.

I like it, mostly.

On realistic the bikes feel good to drive. The simulation/gameplay itself is good. The tracks are good.

But IMO there are several game design issues that make career and other modes unnecessarily frustrating and unfun.

The game feels like it has built-in "sleep(5000ms)" code between way too many things, and several races/challenges have you waiting for 10+ seconds between clicking restart and the restart actually happening. It ends up being a lot of waiting. Even with good racing it becomes boring when every retry is spaced out that far.

If the devs can do a few things to fix this, go through the game and remove as many unnecessary wait-times as possible (for example the one after completing a race, where you have to wait 5 sec to proceed to results with the option to restart), and also shorten the wait for annoying Auto-Pilot starts by 60-70% and change the counting up of "Your Time" on Time Attack to have no animation, just be instant. Then I will change my recommendation.

By the way, in this game you have to be quick and precise as fuck to succeed at all, which I've started to get into after 3 days of playing. Bronze tier on challenges and racing against Easy tier AI is genuinely difficult. Not impossible after some experience, but definitely not easy. Not really holding that against the game though. Comparing these bikes to the cars in most racing games, it feels very high-risk high-difficulty high-reward. You also get the rewind function which is a really great tool, especially while learning.

RIDE 4 proves to me that bike-racing can feel at least as good as car-racing. But it still feels a little incomplete. (also some weird UI choices in customization, and in the livery editor there is no mirroring option) I've done most of my hours in custom races, because career sucks. Personally I'd love these MC mechanics in an open world setting. Maybe even VR. Maybe even with guns, kinda like a modern (maybe Asian?) GTA IV Lost and Damned. But I'm guessing that's not likely since they're just racing focused.

Great game at first but soon becomes apparent the AI is a nostalgic trip back to the first Gran Turismo on PS 1. You touch a bike (car) you fall off (crash/spin out), they remain unharmed; a bike (car... you get the idea) touches you, you fall off, AI is on rails, won't drive round you, drives right through you. No real advancement in this in 25 odd years? really?

Usually when you stick a game difficulty on easy, it gives you quite a bit of chance to win, and very easy you can cruise past to pick up 1st place. But this game, damn, if you stick on very easy you are still in the middle of the pack struggling to keep up. Which makes this game no fun.

Game can be pretty fun and it looks good but the absolutely terrible AI detracts from the experience. They will ram into you in the corners and cause you to fall off but will almost never fall off themselves and are also capable of taking turns much faster than the player. Rain races are especially bad because you have to slow down to 40-50mph just to make the turn but wet conditions don’t affect the AI at all. They just fly through the corners at over 100 in the rain with no problems so beating them becomes impossible .

Beyonder

The game is visually stunning, very detailed & challenging. The physics are really impressive & its a joy cornering on every track & bike. Lot of great bikes & tracks. Fantastic sound reproduction of all the original motorcycle engines & amazing exhaust sound. The game's mechanic is difficult to learn, it will take some time as I feel it has more of a simulation approach. So much of variable assists, settings & customisation too. In any case, the game is brutal but rewarding & has an amazing gameplay. I'm starting to really enjoy this game & I'm glad I bought this on sale.

Ride 2 and 3 were fantastic, but the only mode I play in Ride 4 is time trial which has it’s own issues. The only value I’ve gotten is Ride 4 includes the SC77 CBR1000RR and UMC, which are my own bike and local track… which has actually helped familiarize myself with the track this season sine I’m new to UMC. A++ to Ride 4 for that.

On to the complaints:

* The career mode “AI” is on rails and even on the lowest difficulty in simulation mode is basically impossible. Turns each race into a rewind fest and gold is still near impossible to achieve. I’d rather play a Souls game.

* Rear brake can’t be modulated. This is both a controller limitation and limited by linked brakes being disabled in simulation mode. So your options are to not use the rear brake at all or low side trying to use it.

* POV/1st person camera. Watching promotional youtube videos of the POV “gameplay” made me buy the game. Turns out that camera view is the replay view, NOT available during gameplay. Gameplay POV floats above the track while the replay POV places the camera where my head and vision actually should be while hanging into a corner. This is one of the biggest disappointments of this game.

* Time trial. Literally the only mode that is fun and the only mode I play… why is my NEXT lap time invalid for crashing or putting both wheels off the track during the PREVIOUS lap?

Some nice things:

* The simulation mode physics are great. Exactly what I want in a moto game. It obviously doesn’t feel exactly like the real thing, but it’s close enough.

* A nice bonus is you earn credits in time trial so you don’t have to suffer through career to try bikes.

Hopefully Ride 5 improves on all on all of these things.

This is an awesome game. But i wish they would fix the low level fatal error that alot of people seem to be having including me. i have to restart my computer every other race it seems, sometimes multiple times during 1 race. Other than this issue i would rate game 5/5

PerfectlyRidic
PerfectlyRidic

Would be fun, but there is a list of issues. First of which there appears to be no quit to desktop button on the main menu. If there is it's hidden. As for game play, the racing line is not even close to the line the AI go with so it causes issues for need players. The second issue is the AI are terrible and have been in every game. They are suicidal and just ram you and act like you aren't there. This makes racing in traffic near impossible to predict what is going to happen. Lastly the penalty system is awful. It is based on the racing line speed. This means if you are going faster than what the race line is based on and you clip the inside of a corner, you will get a time penalty. Seems fair until you get faster and realize how slow that line is. This then means any time you touch the inside limit and sometimes outside limits you get a massive penalty .3 or .4 seconds is common. Tracks like VIR have a little bus stop style section on a long straight and the inside of that will do .6 seconds for a small touch of the inside that gained you nothing. There are a bunch of other smaller issues that are not as important. To sum it all up I cant recommend this game as it is. It still has bugs and racing AI is just terrible. There really is no playablility and its very frustrating. It is the 4th copy of this game they have made and it still has the same issues. Don't waste your money for this EA Sports style release.

Although I play a lot of Milestone games, I have never ridden a motorbike in real life therefore I cannot properly judge this game on its riding physics. The graphics are quite good by Milestone's standards and there is plenty of content for the price point, although I did and would recommend getting this on the sale.

From others who have real life experience, the game seems to be a simplified but not entirely unrealistic handling model. The assists are there to help for anyone who needs them. The sound design could be better. The bikes are well detailed and very customisable. Career does not have any staff management or anything that in depth but gives a sense of progression starting from the low cc in the regional leagues up to the global league. I would have liked more depth and career management so hopefully that will come in Ride 5.

The AI can be slightly suicidal at times but offer a decent enough challenge at higher difficulties. One problem I found was especially on tracks like the Nurburgring GP circuit, their racing line was completely different to the one the game gives you as an assist so following them is a much better idea. I played the original Ride and there have evidently been changes made, but not all of them are ones I agree with, like some changes to the physics model.

Dear Milestone, Please add some Supermoto tracks! They were made to go on Supermoto tracks not normal racing circuits. Or if it is too late at least do so in Ride 5.

Overall, I enjoyed the game and would give it a 7.5/10. It is not perfect but if they make improvements in Ride 5 then it could be a masterpiece.

I've been riding IRL for about 5 years now, have always been interested in racing games, have been interested in motorcycles for a long while as well.

This game brings all that together. Sure it might have it's flaws but it's a beautiful game.

The learning curve might be hard for some, and some of the aids in-game might be a bit more of a hindrance or might not be what they should be (e.g. some of the racing lines) but for a nice relaxing time, this game is amazing. The bikes look amazing, the customization is top, downloading other people's liveries make's finding a nice one for your own taste super easy. The bikes sound amazing and sound like their IRL couterpart.

Tons of tracks, tons of motorcycles, the DLC's are awesome, both the free and paid ones.

I can surely recommend this game, nice and relaxing, but can be very serious at times as well.

Keysersoze386
Keysersoze386

After years of riding real bikes I thought by now, version 4, they would have got it right...sadly not! handling poor, feel poor, track lines poor, engine sounds poor, computer bikes far to difficult and don't spread out much, even on the easiest level. Ive played lots of racing games and I have to be on the ball flat out with no offs for the whole race on the easiest level just to keep up. Career is far too difficult, full of challenges of beat the timed section over and over. no racing. I'm sure there are hard core gamers that like this difficulty, but isnt that the point of having different ability levels? Even the graphics aren't much better than ride 2. Sorry but its time you gave up making these games.

This game is extremely well done as all of the Ride series have been. It's gorgeous, races load quickly, it's fun.

For me, it's too difficult to unlock extra bikes and stuff. I pay 50 bucks for a game because I want to play it, I love motorcycles and I want to check them out, simulate them, all that. I don't want to be stuck trying some silly challenges all day, I just want to mess around with it without dedicating my life to being skilled at it.

The bottom line for me is that means I have very limited gameplay here because I'm not willing to invest the time to beat all the levels. If they just made an easy mode for casual players where it toned down the competition and made it a little easier to pass levels, this problem would be solved for me.

Very bad AI, unrealistic driving even at easy difficulty. They just run into you and crash you as if they are blind. No matter how many times us restart, they will drop you off your bike. Only Time trial game mode is worth playing. I have bought several dlcs and now i severely regret. It won't solve if u turn on automatic braking, abs, off-track help or lowering difficulty. With automatic brakes this game is not fun to play. AI passes the corners at ridiculously high speed. Upto 600cc u can still grind and climb but when u go to 1000cc catagory it becomes impossible. i bought 6-7dlcs coz i liked this game at the starting point. I have motogp 2019 which is fine but this game is too bad. I will not recommend to anyone playing with a keyboard. Milestone if u can then refund my money, obviously lot of time has been wasted which u cannot return to me. Even if i try to brake and slow down, AI rushes from the back at full speed and crashes me, there is lot of free space all around but it will tendencively dash on to me to take me down. If Milestone can introduce some sort of fall protection/crash protection or something like that then i may consider reinstalling this game again. Overall physics, graphics, collection of bikes and optimization is very good though. Such a shame this game could have been much better. Not Recommended

This doesn't come with a tutorial and expects you to know how to ride a bike, it's impossible if you haven't done it in real life. If you don't know how to drive a motorcycle don't expect to be able to even finish a race here. I wish other sims have some tutorials like msfs2020, yes youtube has videos but nothing is better than ingame tutorials, especially the pretty decent ones on msfs2020.

Good Game...only negative thing I have to say is....the replay cameras are pretty lame. Should have spent maybe 5 minutes to make the replays great, but somebody just stuck the camera as close to the bikes as possible. Use your brain when putting replay cameras in and have them zoom out further so we can see the race and the lay of the land. We dont want to see close ups of the side of our bikes! When viewing the replays......Zoom WAAAY out and then back in. Variety is the spice of life!! geeeeezzz

tl;dr - You want Gran Turismo, but with Bikes.

Overall - ★★★★

Graphics - ★★★★★
Godlike, but with godlike graphics comes godlike specs too right? Not really, it's very optimized in my opinion, I'm playing in a 5 years old laptop from 2017 and still can run it High on average 50 fps. It's stunning in any weather condition, I appreciate the tiny bits of details on Rain especially. They render the 2 strokes iconic smokes outta the exhaust, rev bomb, it's sooooooo gooooooooooooooooooood on FPS mode too, I can't even sometimes compare if it's actually Ride 4 or IRL.

A.I. - ★★★
Aggressively douchebag, even in the lowest difficulty slider which goes from 20 - 120, it's still aggressively bad for newcomers. If you aren't used to racing games, you might need some time learning and getting used to the A.I., other than that with difficulty slider they get better on time records. Realistically, they can also do a lowside, highside, and even a crash with other rider.

Sound - ★★★★
Very good take on their department, but lacks of consistency to be perfect. Most Inline 4s are excellent, especially Yamaha's Crossplane-4, they nailed it perfectly in my opinion. They got right all of the V4s imo, and other than that it's good. Though I wish with different exhaust configuration, I can have also different sound output, that'd be sick if they decide to enhance it.

Game Progression/Career/Story - ★★★
It does its job as a simulation-ish game, as I said from the tl;dr you give the same progression as Gran Turismo, you start from ground zero looking for licence in the regional racing scene, and then you grow up solving the puzzle piece by piece. Some race/cup has bike rewards on it like how GT also portrays. It gets boring overtime if you decide to play it all day everyday.

Physics & Realism - ★★★
It's aimed towards more arcady stuff rather than trying to be a hard simulation, so I won't complain since they didn't even advertise it being a sim. You can play it with controller if you want to, some of my friends are happy with it, but I play with keyboards and it still rock solid to play, just reminder that keyboard majority still has Rollover (basically if you press some buttons at the same time, it will not register). Game physics, even the most realistic one, doesn't bother to be realistic. So I'll still give it an OK.

Multiplayer - ★★
Annoying; Setting up the lobby isn't hard but sure once you set it up and you want to change some minor things, "Oh no I can't do this, I guess we need another lobby", and that happens everytime I want to do a group play with my friends. The bike class is confusing sometimes missing even though all of us has the bike. Like it's a 800 - 999cc class, why would a GSXR600 pop up in my bike options? At least you still have the P2P running and not broken

Circuit Picks - ★★★
Not the most varied, was hoping for more proper/permanent circuit tracks, but eh some are there for historical purpose since the Career also has historic bikes from 2 stroke to 4 stroke. I know licensing isn't cheap, but I'm willing to pay for more circuit accessibility.

Bonus Photo Mode - ★★★★★★★★★★★★
Very detail, you can do all stuff of range and flex your bikes to yo squads.

I didn't enjoy this game its graphics are amazing but the controls are difficult to use and almost everything is hidden behind a DLC and there are so many of it I think that in this case, the good cant outweigh the bad it looks amazing and sounds it too but the controls are too difficult to use and the bikes have some really strange physics to them id give it a 3/10

I want to like this game, but they seriously should have modeled in Counter Leaning, i.e., moving your butt to the left part of the seat, and dipping the bike down/right as you lean left. It keeps weight on the contact patch so you can lean more if need to + if you need to change direction right out of the corner, counter-leaning is a great way to do it.

They also should've modeled the front tire turning left a little bit before you take a right turn, which is called Copunter Steering, and it's something innate that a motorcyclist does whenever they turn.

Great graphics, various selections of bikes, enough modification options for non-bike enthusiast.

To have better control of the game, need to use compatible gamepad. Go to youtube and watch several videos on how to properly do cornering in the game, hopefully it can help you to enjoy the game more. This game have a bit different handling than other motorcycle games.

Wish there are more street/city tracks and mountain/forest tracks.

After 255 hours playing and enjoying this game, i only can say i never get tired of try to beat my own (and the other online players) lap times. Is very little to be critic about and im only waiting for the fifth tittle of the saga. A big fan of Ride4.

Worth playing considering today's fuel prices.

Glorious game. Very intuitive handling. I don't have a ton of experience with bikes IRL but the controls just "click". Passed the tutorial (which some comments claimed difficult) from the first lap. Within the first hour I am already riding with no assists, including TC, ABS & AW. You just need to understand that bikes aren't like cars. Your turn starts faaar earlier and with the position of your rider. Once you commit to a line, you can't do micro corrections like with a car. Visually stunning and realistic experience. Expensive at full price but well worth it on sale. Only lacking aspect so far is the AI which scales really poorly and doesn't adapt to the player at all.

Very immersive ! One of a kind !! Takes some time to learn the way of curving through a corner and cruising on !

I can't get past the second time-attack style track on Brandshatch after like 30 attempts. Am I just retarded or is it that hard?

There was a moment when I was fully leaned over at 130 km/h on my Daytona, on a sunny day at Mugello, as a Yamaha R6 passed me. That moment was exactly when I realized what the game is actually about. Try the game. The feeling of frustration will eventually give way to satisfaction.

Just remember - bikes don't turn by turning. They turn by leaning.

I suck at MotoGP. I'm not terrible at this and it's a lot of fun. This game has Nordschleife, that alone makes this purchase worth it (on sale). Has a cool variety of bikes and circuits, already drove a Harley Davidson around Laguna Seca getting my license in career mode and that was a blast.

On sale this game is a no brainer (again it has Nords). Highly recommend it!

Unfortunately, physics are still not on point.
- Engine physics are awful, without any aid activated you still feel and hear the traction control kicking in... Plus the power delivery is inconsistent.
- When on the angle and braking, the bike will low side AFTER you let the brake go.

And NO Milestone, it is not correct to ask the player to have a certain Level of Bike Affinity unlocked to change a god d*mn livery! I'm just trying to change the color of my bike for fudge sake!
Moreover, the customization options are lacking compared to the previous games, the career mode does not allow you to start on a bike you purchased and forces you to play with a R3. The same career mode is littered with useless challenges and I couldn't push through more than 2 hours of gameplay. Unfortunately, I played for 2.1 hours so I can't get a refund.

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but you did it again Milestone!

Ride 2 was a better game, I can't recommend.
