Very good game, its really fun, and improves significantly from the first game ( which should probably go without saying but im clarifying ) the weapon customization is fantastic, as is the exploration, its a good bit violent, but this is the second game were talking about, so if you played the first that also goes without saying. highly recommended!
Fun gameplay, stunning visuals. I played this immediately after playing the Tomb Raider reboot and it felt like they took that game and just piled more on in this game.
I Really liked more than the 2013 reboot, since u get to craft your own ammo if you run out and also has improved in many other aspects such as exploring and making it lil more open world. God daum the visuals also is *chef kiss*. If you liked 2013 you will probably like this one toooo, Consider it the upgrade
The original Tomb Raider was one of the first games I played, and at the time it seemed so damn hard and mysterious. That's nostalgia speaking, of course, and most likely it was nowhere near as impressive as the crazy rollercoaster I've just finished.
Despite the fact I'm not a huge fan of realism in games (now-now, let's omit Lara's numerous traumas that aren't compatible with life here) and that Indiana Jones was never my thing, there's something endlessly captivating about this game. It's filled to the brim with thrilling moments that just make you climb higher and higher. The only real downside was the lackluster ending - it came too abruptly, and although the helicopter fight was clever, I think I've already met this mechanics a few times.
Finally, I believe that Lara herself is almost an ideal representation of a strong female character - she's neither 'in your face', nor a gender-swapped version of a male protagonist. Even though at times she seems to be more of a driving force behind the narrative than a human being, her personality still has both the charm and the kick without any romance involved.
I replayed the first of the new Tomb Raiders once, I might just as well do the same with the second one.
I give RotTR a qualified recommendation.
Broadly: the game is fun but the story is mind-numbingly unengaging. Lara remains about as compelling a character now as in 1996, which is to say, not very. Sure, the way she scales cliffs and fights off hordes of supernatural baddies is superhuman, but storywise she's a passive player, only reacting to things happening to her. It's frustrating and a missed opportunity to make such a legendary character less... bland.
Anyway, gameplay-wise the combat is fun and a tad more polished than in the first reboot, the stealth is satisfying in a puzzle sort of way, often relying on upgrades to be feasible though. The platforming is floaty as in the first (eventually making one feel a bit seasick) but generally works well and is compensated for by the sense of scale and of course the set-pieces, which are often pretty spectacular. One core gameplay loop is, however, the collect-athon: having the map scattered with collectable items which give you XP, currency and flavour-text. I'll never be a fan of this sort of busywork, it feels very hollow and disrespectful of my time. You need the XP, at least, in order to upgrade weapons. The TOMBS may have been relegated to optional side-missions but are still fun little puzzles to solve, if not quite up to the standard of earlier games.
The graphics hold up and the visuals are often stunning, which is a good a reason to play as any.
You'll have a good time if you just blow though the game and don't focus too much on the stale writing. Engaging with the meta-stuff like "cards" (lootboxes) and TR-points (or whatever) is a supreme waste of time.
Works very nice on Linux, with an integrated AMD card that has 4gb graphics memory. Chest should be bigger though :(
I'm not big on open world games, or crafting games now that I'm older. I love the games but it takes more than that to get me through. I find them overwhelming. The Witcher 1-3, love them, but never got far. This game has just enough "open world" essence to it, but enough linear direction that I felt like I was always on track. The optional puzzles and platforming is fun once you get it down. There was a brief moment in the beginning where I almost turned it off, but I didn't, and I'm glad I didn't. A great addition to the franchise!
I loved the first one, this one is just as good if not better than the first one. Enough new additions, I can't wait to see what the third one will have in store for me.
Played on Linux
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a direct sequel to the 2013 reboot, and gameplay wise is very similar to the 2013 game. Difficulty is very low, and most of the time you die because of dumb platforming rather than combat.
Story and character development wise, it is in my opinion weaker than the previous game, but it's not bad. The pacing feels like the same as the original: good if you rush through the story, but painfully slow if you explore the maps for the collectibles.
The puzzles were good, but her remarks and the use of Survival Instinct highlighting everything kinda makes them easy most of the time. In fact, Survival Instinct kills much of the discovery and exploration aspect, and the player is supposed to rely on that for cues rather than more obscure and interesting methods (e.g. the backpacks giving notes on locations rather than their map locations).
8/10 would mess up platforming again.
The Siberian Wilderness standalone is fun but could have used one beacon since you cannot save any progress.
Great action adventure game with puzzle platforming. Both the first game and this game are fun to play, easy to get into and the puzzle platforming is one my favourite parts of the game.
7/10
The 100% grind was absurdly tedious, but the game's story was fun (if ridiculously over-the-top). Despite its flaws, I'd still recommend the hell out of the game, and if you can get it on sale, you're getting an amazing value. Enjoy!
So much better than the first one it's not even funny. As someone who grew up with Tomb Raider 2, i can say that this one reminds me of the good ol' days. This one has more and better platforming than the first remake, and many quality of life improvements and more fleshed out mechanics like the stealth for instance. Lots of great things to explore and the game looks beautiful and the graphics definitely still hold up in 2022. Story, while containing some cliche dialogue also pulled me in a lot more than the first remake game; it has less characters which is think is a strength, since they didn't really have time to flesh out the ensemble in the first installment, which was kinda a necessity to make the player actually care what happened in the plot/to the characters. This game doesn't have that problem since the cast is smaller. Also pretty interesting villain that gets lots of screen time, as well as some good twists along the way. Keep in mind that you need a decent rig to run this one, even today it's still quite demanding, although it doesn't look bad on lower settings by any stretch of the imagination.
im a long time tomb raider fan, ive played this one more times than 10 and i still dont get bored of it. Best tomb raider of all time easily
Very nice story & graphics, yet, Don't buy the game for VR experience, it is broken and unplayable. you get double shadows for each eye & it crashes a lot.
Big tiddy girl moaing in blizzard in her tank top and killing people for artifacts. 10/10 would recommend.
The game has really good pace and development. I found it quite challenging at certain levels that include combat (but I'm not savvy with controller, so it could be my lack of skills :)). Otherwise, very positive and engaging experience. In most cases, game gives plenty of opportunity for player to decide on how to progress.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is okay, but it has the increasingly common feel of a lazy design. So many core game mechanics make no sense; so much so that it detracts from the game. For example, there are many sturdy wooden barriers which are impassable until you get "rope arrows". You now fire an arrow at a clearly marked wooden board, itself wrapped with rope, and then pull...and this somehow makes Lara able to destroy the barrier? How does pulling it down with a rope grant any more force than just pulling on the boards, or using something for leverage? Worse, in some cases, you fire an arrow upwards and pull down what looks like hundreds of pounds of lumber directly on yourself. The game just sort of ignores this.
Another strangeness is that Lara can make grenades. This makes sense when starting with a fuel tank or maybe a lantern, but she can turn an unlimited number of random soda cans into grenades. How, exactly?
Another is that supposedly heavily trafficked areas, or those areas walked by many enemies, require extreme parkour skills to not die -- even though the resources would be available to build a simple rope bridge or otherwise.
These a few examples that aren't a huge deal on their own, but they combine with many others to make the general feel of the game one of, "Who cares of it makes any sense? We need to ship next week!"
Didn't know what to expect being new to the franchise. I came to explore the graphics engine. Attractive female protagonists who make me feel completely inadequate are not really my thing [I would have died in the first scene in real life ;-) ] ... but I have to say, the game-play is mainly very good (some explanations left wanting, alas), the story is very engaging and if you like action your wishes are fulfilled in spades. I really enjoyed my first meeting with Lara and sharing her adventures was fabulous fun. If you like well-delivered 3-D graphics in an action-packed explorable world, while the threat of humanity's extinction weighs down on your shoulders, do it!
Eh, for fun and when you have nothing better to play it's okay. Some gameplay elements are ridiculous xDD It's like straight out from Benny Hill show xddd These arrows also which you can climb on...cmon man xd I rushed tru the game, the main story on hard mode... i can say that the game doesn't reward you in any way... you not gonna be much stronger or effiicient if you grinding... there is literally no reason to upgrade or anything. They should do something with this game..some elements in gameplay and story are jokes... 6/10 ..but still more fun than some other ''big games''.
My biggest issue was with the performance... Everything nice and good on max settings but there are some kind of micro-lagging, especially when you running and moving forward.. (only NOT on the lowest settings) the camera just lagging... Its not fps problems its something else.. i had good fps
One of my favorite games of recent memory. So many games these days are made in huge open worlds that I just get bored of quickly. Rise of the Tomb Raider feels just right to give me enough enjoyment exploring the world without feeling like it is all just filler content to make the game appear to be as big as possible.
Highly recommend!
My name is James.
Last year, I found out that there was a tumor in my head and I underwent chemotherapy many times to treat the tumor.
One day I got tired of all the chemotherapy and trying to survive.I said to myself that there is nothing in the world that I want to live for
Until one day my friend Jesse gave me this game as a gift.I wanted to not accept the game But accidentally accepted the game
I installed the game and played it for a few minutes and I realized that I like it.until today I have played it for more than a hundred hours
This game made me try to survive and now the doctor told me that chemotherapy has destroyed the tumor and I will survive.
Thank you Jesse, you are my best friend and Your gift was the best thing that happened in my life
i love the story i love open world games and this is a really good open world game out of all the games i played that was open world including dark souls and i recomend buying it bc its realy fun
So buggy, my gosh. Even after all these years. I keep trying again, thinking it will be different. Only to encounter a new, fun bug. Camera is an absolute nightmare too. Story is great but I can't bring myself to finish it. And goodness knows I've tried (as you can see from my hear 30 hrs playing!)
I am fans of tomb rider, I just lose this story rich, enemy are not that stress full the puzzle is just nice not to hard enjoyable. . this TOMB RIDER will 9/10. with grinding doing tombs + story mission+ afk just take 52H. if u just do mission mybe 48H maximum?
Played shadow of the tomb raider before this. I gotta say the scenery in shadow is much more gorgeous to look at. And the puzzles are alot more challenging. But rise is ok. Hope the scenery gets a little more pleasant to look at. Just leaving the soviet installation.
It's a fun game with a really good story, some of the movement is wonky, trying to grab onto certain ledges or navigating some of the terrain can be a bit weird, but it's honestly not a huge complaint overall
Amazing leap off from the already awesome reboot! This game puts the sequel formula to it's best test, staying very similar to the original, in a brand new, yet familiar locale with similar and expanded hurdles to conquer. The gameplay adds a ton of more modern tweaks to the game that are not unwelcome. I am not a fan of crafting systems at this point, but this game makes it rather unintrusive, and integrates well with the core mechanics on the fly, rather than using menus to do so. Killing almost everything with only the bow is still very possible, and a major draw for myself (get it? draw? heh). There is a ton of balance between puzzles and combat, but don't be surprised if entire sessions of under an hour are spent on just a puzzle or tomb here and there.
9.5/10
Fun game. Certainly not perfect. Combat has become more prevalent in this series, but it isn't that good. The actual tombs are fun, but are no longer the main emphasis of the game, as they are "optional". Levels can be frustrating as you are blocked from moving freely around. Story was ok. Wish the game was more about exploration than combat.
Excellent game, this one and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but the setting of this one takes the crown.
Remove the mtf CO-OP achievents!!!!
Its a single player game why ruin achievents with that s t u p i d co-op multiplayer useless garbage.
No body wants multiplayer in to Tomb Taider specialy multiplayer based achievents.
The game is great its for the co-op achievents.
As a long time Tomb Raider fan, the newest trilogy has a tough standing.
However, I think that despite my heart beating for the blocky riddles and hilarious dialogues of TR I to V, the reboot trilogy is a worthy successor, basically an heir to the Tomb Raider series.
ROTR in this trilogy expands on the open world concept, maybe a bit too much, but takes you on a visually stunning ride with a Lara Croft that isn't as cold-hearted as in the original series, but much less of a wimp than in Tomb Raider 2013. Definitely a fun experience to play, even though playing through it on the highest difficulty for the achievement (not being able to save is just gruesome) took.. a bit of nerves and many friends to calm me down when once again I died and lost an hour of progress..

A must play game for intrepid explorers and Tomb Raider fans. A lot more to discover as opposed to its prequels, a much wider world. The rest should be discovered by the players, wouldn't wanna spoil that feeling of discovery!
best game in the series.recently played thru again in 2022..holds up graphically and gameplay wise...and Lara is best action gurl
The first game of the updated series is FANTASTIC, however, this game is even better! LOVE the graphics, the mechanics, and the story, def on of the best games out there! You have got to try it, Lara is a badass and just amazing, love her!
I wish they would make a horrorish game the witch level is my favorite in any Tomb Raider game ever. It would be top 10 games ever.
Some parts are like playing thru movie, its sick!
Updated player model and new environments. More or less similar gameplay to the last one but I always seem to enjoy a good Tomb Raider game.
Welp, This 2015 videogame looks this good at 2022, it's just really impressive, and the story it self is also very interesting. Definitely worth it for 6 dollar. 10/10
it feels like assassins creed all over again :P
My favourite Tomb Raider game was Anniversary until I play this. The best compared to previous games.
Game would be ok, but it doesn't seem to run stable on my system (MacBook Pro).
AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8GB, i9-9880H, 64GB RAM, SSD,
but even with low graphic settings and shabby resolution it struggles.
Besides that game is fine, even enjoyable. A bit too generic.
LOVE the play style, DISLIKE the lag between pressing the action buttons and getting the action to play out
I did not like content after game completion (cards, score attacks etc.), but the story line and level design is nice. Most of puzzles you can solve yourself by trying, listening to Lara's comments or looking around. I enjoyed the game. Run well on my M1 Mac
A great sequel game, expands well on the story and new game features from the first tomb raider
I played this masterpiece for only a few hours and the game is really beautiful and the graphics are very beautiful. The story is long and fascinating! GG
Solid Tomb Raider experience.
It has a lot of side content too, very replayable "expeditions" thing.
But some achievements are coop, and there is a bit too much lore that you have to stand still to listen to
Played this game immediately after completing the first game from the rebooted series and the visual and mechanical improvements that were made are noticeable from the get go. the movement is more fluid and allows for better traversal. I like that there was more than one playable location in the game (unlike in the first game) and making it into a sandbox was a very good move from the developers because it feels like the game allows you to do things more in the way you want and not just following a linear path that the game wants you to take. Like the first game, this is a fun experience to play through but it might be hard going back to it's predecessor after playing this one.
Press 'X' to not die. Action constantly interrupted for cutscenes. Focus and mechanics constantly restricted to focus on cool animations that must be shown off. Monetization slapped on after the fact. Progression that grows tiresome. In retrospect, regret the wasted time spent playing. Had to fight through finishing with how close the end was. Completed in 11 hours with a decent amount of exploration and side questing.
love everything about this game
as far as sequels go, this is great. Improving on an already solid game, awesome gameplay, tonnes of replay value
Definitely recommend this to everyone, it has everything, from great story to action and adventure, this is probably my favorite one out of the trilogy.
A few annoyances would be the tons of throwable items that you pick up when you want to pick up something else, and a graphical or regular bug here and there, but that doesn't affect the gameplay much, if at all.
Following the 2013 reboot, Rise of the Tomb Raider is pretty much more of the same with some improvements. Environments are truly magnificent, particularly the snowy ones ! Despite its lack of enough puzzle solving, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great action/adventure game. Recommended !
A solid build upon he previous title. Tombs looked amazing, crazy depth of field, and still maintains the classic Tomb Raider characteristics.
one of the best games ever played. Amazing ... awsome .... ;)
Great game. Excellent exploration and puzzles.
I play this using my new ROG Strix g15, i9, RTX 3060, 16GB RAM. When mission saving Jonah after I have defeated all armies under water the scene stuck and cannot load next stage. I did it twice and still stuck. very dissapointed
its a very good and fun game it deserve buying and when it says use fast travle to discover the world it means the game is finishad
Love the Tomb Raider games in general now and forever. Great intense gameplay and often truly difficult.
This is my favourite of the entire Lara Croft: Tomb Raider franchise. I play this through to near 100% completion at least once every year because of my extreme enjoyment of the game. The areas feel big like Underworld did and that has been missing from a lot of recent offerings, particular the later installment of Shadow of the Tomb Raider - that game feels like a side scroller in the way it forces you down one path. Rise of the tomb raider gives you those open rooms and exploration opportunities that other entries missed.
Love the first game. Enjoying this one so far.
game was pretty good but lots off lag in game i have all tomb raider triology in steam but im facing only lag issue in this game
I really enjoyed playing this game and would recommend it to everyone
videos and sound out of sync throughout any conversation point and a few video glitches here and there, but
overall it was totally awesome fun for the technology of its time and more than challenging.

The camera shake is absurd. Could never play for more than an hour before I started feeling nauseous. Would not recommend.
It's.. bland.. narrative is bland, platforming is bland.. in the end that's all you'll remember even if the combat is decent and environments are pretty. Play it once I guess.
This is the least favorite Tomb Raider game of mine. But its Tomb Raider after all can't complain
This whole trilogy is amazing.
Compared to the first game, it went all in with character development and story. the puzzles in this game were fairly easy and leave alot to be desires in a tomb raider game. There is still plenty of platforming which I do not mind but the camera angles and jumping are still buggy and floaty.
I loved the way they did the snow in this game
Loved it. Felt like a continuation of the 1st one on a different setting. If you love the 1st one, you will love this one, even if it isn't super evolved. I can recommend it no problem. Make sure you play the 1st before.

and Jacob asdfja;sdlfad
Incredible game - plenty of depth in story and lots to do. You'll get your money's worth.
Still early yet but the game is amazing so far, much improved graphics over the 2013 Tomb Raider, runs beautifully and well optimised.
Game has gorgeous graphics and really immersive storyline . Puzzles and combat that is what tomb raider games offers the best . really loved it
I like this game because its relaxing. Idk why but it is.
Took me quite a while to play this 2016 game, but I was able to finally play it in 4k ultra settings and it was worth the wait. A cinematic experience that was fun and action packed, like playing an Indiana Jones movie. You can get bogged down by the vast number of items to collect, but the main story and optional tombs are where it really shines.
Everything about this game is cinematic. From the cutscenes to the camera angles to the sweeping vistas, it feels like a big-budget Hollywood production. And just like a big-budget Hollywood production, it fails here and there with the story. But all credit to the animators and voice actors who took a mediocre script and made it memorable.
The puzzles are fun to solve and platforming can feel quite satisfying at times. But what really stands out in the game is Lara. And I don't mean just the way she looks, not that I ever tire of seeing her on-screen. But her voice acting by Camilla Luddington brings her struggles and her anger out in the open beautifully. You feel like the underdog rising out of the shadows as you hear her conviction, the way she gasps and shrieks and grunts displaying an effort of will, the way she rages like a badass as she rains death.
So get this gorgeous game and experience all the thrill of a good adventure movie.
Visually appealing, cool guns, got bit glitchy at times (not sure if its due to my own hardware). I would recommend if you wanna kill 10/11 hours
The Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great game and I purchased it because I liked the earlier Tomb Raider.
Everything here feels like an upgrade from the earlier title which is great.
Still, I didn't enjoy the game as it feels like they also 'upgraded' the amount of quick time events (QTEs) which I found to be too excessive very early on - lost the want to continue after an hour or so.
I've instead resorted to watching others play instead - thank goodness!!
Regardless of my gripe with the QTEs, everything in the game works really well, be it puzzle, platforming or action - oh, and Lara looks better too.
If you don't have a bone to pick with QTEs, this is a great package and a steal when on sale.
Gameplay is completely different from previous games, and I liked it much more. Really strong story, development of characters. There is rogue like exploration with some scripted action sequences.
Good puzzles and tactical challenges keep the brain working. Good fun.
Great game, in most cases, preferable to Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
good. tombraider 2013 was a complete failure compaired to the olders tomb raiders but this one got it better, gameplay is better and is way less cringey then the 2013 one. i still hate new lara's face but with the AOD inspired mod it became really enjoyable
Much better than Shadow of the tomb raider that's for sure. Rise has great DLC, a great map, and overall its a really solid game. I'd probably rate it a 9.5/10
Although the optimization is poor, the collection elements, character development mechanism, side quests, emergencies and other aspects of this game have been improved in all directions compared to the previous game; both the gameplay cutscenes and dubbing can be seen. The sincerity of the creative team is a Tomb Raider that is infinitely close to perfection. However, I think the gameplay is still lacking because the plot is too short.
cool game mate,nc adventure too
love tomb raider games and I am a big fan of tomb raider franchise
Had a blast playing this one as well. If you want more of Tomb Raider 2013 then you won't be disappointed.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is the one of the best action adventure games I played.
Pros
Open world is massive. There is sense of an adventure in every corner of the world.
Survival element is fun part of the game. You need to craft weapons and items to survive the wilderness. There are lots of predators that you need to look out for like bears, wolfs, leopards and cougars. Predators are hard to take down so you need to play tactically.
There are lots of different way you can approach a situation when you encounter enemies. This makes the game fun. Stealth is very good in this game compared to Tomb Raider 2013. AI is smart, when they discover the dead body they alert the other guys and they then start to search for you.
Environment sounds are great and Great voice acting by Camilla Luddington.
Lots of weapons and gears to choose from. You can be a rambo with bow and arrows. There are different type of arrows to choose from like fire, poison and explosive arrows.
Graphics is awesome. This is one of the best looking games I've played.
Character animations and Facial Expressions are so life like that it is feel like you are watching a movie.
Side missions and Optional tombs are very good. There are lots of optional challenge tombs in the game that make this game a true tomb raider experience. Puzzles in the tombs are very well balanced. They are not to hard but not so easy too.
Challenges and collectibles give this game some replay ability.
Lots of achievements which allows you to experience the game in different ways if you like to 100% the game.
Story is very good. There are documents to find that allows you to dive in to the lore of the game further.
DLCs are great. You can modify the experience of DLCs using cards.
Optimization is great but to MAX it you need newer hardware.
Cons
Nothing I can find.
If you haven't played this game yet then you are missing a masterpiece. I give this game 10/10.
This is a great follow up plus everything was improved.

A brilliant addition to the Tomb raider trilogy, definitely my favourite of the three. Rise of the tomb raider, in my opinion, outshines both its predecessor and successor. The game-play is satisfying, world exploration fun, and the graphics are beautiful, even 6 years later. The vast amount of collectables could be considered overwhelming, though I never found this to be an issue. Overall I enjoyed it immensely, and would recommend to anyone considering buying it.
game gets stuck in loading screen, cant even play: no recommendation
my verdict - kill russians because they are trying to copy america by killing the natives
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a very visually stunning game that provides a meticulously constructed explorable world. Hunting down all the collectable items and challenges becomes less like a chore as you truly begin to feel like you're part of the world.
good game nice time pass exploring tombs
It took me a good handful of years to pick up and play this installment to the Legendary Tomb Raider series. Of course, I did get this one and “Shadow of The Tomb Raider” for a legendary price on the 2022 Steam Summer Sale. I’m glad I did. I wasn’t too keen on the first retelling story of the Modern Tomb Raider, while fully understanding it was an origin. This one took me back to old times. I got a lot of mastery intentions that paired well for scratching an itch to play Uncharted. All of the moves were there and everything felt so smooth. There were some slight “slow-mo bugs” that were easy to get over with a quick safe and refresh, but besides that.. you have a wonderful 2nd game with tons of value. The DLC for Baba Yaga left me with some cool goodies to further enhance Lara into a bow shooting machine. Stealth Mechanics were on point and the puzzles felt challenging. Not too much, but enough to make you stop and think. I’m just glad I’m behind on being caught up and get to jump right into SOTTR next.
