Now I don't mind me some grind, but only on my penis. This is too much grind and on my balls so like grinding my balls into not balls. Like it's fun if your ok with loosing everything from a bs boss or enemy ig.

a game with great potential lost to dev burnout. game was abandoned some years ago and has been kept on the brink of death by the modding community since. game is fun while youre figuring stuff out but it becomes grindy and repetitive in the late game. rip roguelands, you will be missed

how do you delete player data? when i delete the save and start a new one the place you start in isnt at default, it looks the same as i edited in the previous save that i already deleted?

the problem is, when i started the game i tried to re-organise, but not all the object i picked up could fit in my inventory so i think some of them de-spawned?

Really, really good perma-death roguelike. It is a slightly outdated game in some aspects but is still worth every cent. Quite grindy but in a good way - not mind-numbingly repeated the same thing over and over again. Lots of endgame bosses to chase. Just wish it was updated with more weapons and a slightly better weapon progression system. 9.9/10 :)

Great little game, had a lot of potential.

Was abandoned.

Game is great, Level layouts are fairly linear and repetitive, and it becomes annoying quickly having to dodge the flying obstacles on every map, but it has a quite extensive crafting system, the weapons are fun to use, and the amount of playable characters and accessories is astounding!!

Overall, great game!!

the grind is pretty enjoyable especially with a friend. boss fights are great, and multiplayer is pretty good most of the time. I don't reccomend this if you hate dying and loosing a months worth of grinding, but I also don't recommend this to people who aren't happy with a one and done experience, as this game no longer receives updates, like, at all. (which is dissapointing because I really like this game :/) hopefully his new game littlewood is good.

This game is a ton of fun especially multiplayer and unlocking new stuff and learning new things about the game is always a blast the only downside of the game I would name is the lack of a decent multiplayer support, can't play with Friends without using hamachi or port forwarding

This game has many faults, but is a solid and fun experience.
Personally recommend using mods to fix the many annoying bugs.

The early planets feel much more detailed and varied than some of the later ones, the first Ultra Boss feels much more polished than any other... many little things like this feel like the dev lost energy / motivation after the early game.
Still fun tho. Just, yknow, use mods.

I enjoyed Magicite a lot, but this game just kinda gets annoying. I wasted a bunch of time getting gear and everything then accidentally screwed up and died and lost everything... I get that it is a Rogue like but I just overall liked Magicite more.

I really like this game. It does have its fair share of problems, but I always find myself coming back to it every so often.

It's main problem is that it's pretty grindy. Like, insanely grindy. Like, almost the whole game is grinding. This is really fun at first, but gets pretty old later in the game.

Worth the money, though, for sure.

I'd say this game was worth the 150+ hour long obsession. Just don't do what I did, which was to play on a high level character while drunk, IMMEDIATELY die, then attempt to drunkenly edit the save file to fix it only to corrupt ALL save data thus sending you back to square freakin' zero great job moron.

anyway yeah don't do that, but definitely play this game. the soundtrack alone is worth checking out too.

Dead game but I like it. Its one of those comfort games. I have a friend whom I play it with and it's honestly why this is one of my favorite games. For some reason I've racked up so many hours and uhh the only excuse I have to why I enjoy it is because I'm bad lol. If you get it, I recommend not looking up the wiki for a while and once you figure out a bit, try checking out the wiki for things to upgrade towards or mods. I personally wish Sean Young (sole developer of SmashGames) would pick it up again to add more but it seems to be misplaced hope. So from one of the few people who still play this casually, get it in pairs cause only friendship can make this game of galactic terrorism fun.

Battering_Rham
Battering_Rham

A very cute and addicting little game that can be relatively difficult if you don't have strong gear but that's what makes it fun to play. Expect to put a relatively good amount of time grinding out materials to get better weapons and armor, and while you can buy said materials and some armor/ weapons I find it more rewarding to collect all the stuff I need. This game offers a few bosses, unique areas, and interesting enemy designs as well as classes to play as and different factions to follow. There isn't a great deal of story, it is mostly questing and grinding to get the best gear you can but the adventure to that point is relatively enjoyable as long as you can dodge your enemies well.
I recommend this game if you want something a little different and less mainstream, its a simple but fun hidden gem.

Thomean
Thomean

The developer destroyed his previous game by releasing a patch that makes the end boss bug out to make people get this game. Now this game is abandoned and also has many problems (just look for the thumbs down reviews about the multiplayer) Even if the concept itself is fun I cannot upvote a game from someone who does stuff like that.

Apple Assassin

Absolutely awesome game to come back to. Hope one day a game gets created similar to this that gets continued

Apollofirestorm
Apollofirestorm

This game is quite buggy. The combat is slow and uninteresting. The events are mediocre, and it is extremely easy to soft lock yourself in the game. The multiplayer is even worse. You can purchase an item and it will go across the room to other players. You must go back to your ship to craft ANYTHING and that ends your current run.

All this coupled with the dev nuking the previous game that I quite liked, Magicite, in a way that made it feel like he did it so you would purchase this game is why I am refunding this, and I cannot give it a positive review. If you liked Magicite and played it before the dev nuked the last boss, making the game impossible to fully complete. Do NOT play this game.

Also do not play this game if you have not played Magicite. This is NOT where you want to go if you are looking for a good roguelike that you can play with your friends. Go to another title like Risk of Rain 1 and 2

Let's start it off with my opinion about the game (after all, reviews are for that) i think this game is my favourite 2D game, its the type of game you can play for hours and keep playing over and over, its just never ending. I could sit playing this game to like another day, one of the best things to play on your weekend (even better with friends), so even tho the maker wont complete the game which im sad about, i think the game is overall 10/10

Dont get me wrong i had a blast playing this game with my buddy's... but the game is dead there is about 50 hours at most of worthy playtime & lots of bugs note that they can be fixed with mods. its not bad but its not worth the money when that same cash can buy you Terraria, Starbound, Or Hollowknight.

Get it if it's on sale. It's a cute and fun game -- so much potential and charm. But the developer has given up and is not working on it anymore, would be amazing to have an update and would recommend this game to everyone but until then the game remains stagment and the developer has dropped this game. Please come back, Dad

Honestly, Magicite was one of my favorite games for a number of reasons. It was chill, had an interesting story and really charmingly sweet music! Design and game-play were simple, yet elegant and addicting.
Roguelands carried a lot of the spirit Magicite had and I personally liked Magicite better! The many paths you can walk, to the many worlds to explore, both have charm. I'd definitely pick it up, and it's even better as a 4+ LAN party! Just really wish Sean Young (developer of Smash Games) would pick it up again.. One or both... and/or allow mods to be made! I can see endless community maps/mobs/weapons/story mods being made!

SerketTheScorpion

This little Roguelike game, had so much potential and is still fun even to this day. It's worth buying and playing. Unfortunately Multiplayer requires Port Forwarding or Local Play, which really hurt this game's survival.

Pro-tip: Start with a class that uses swords or guns, you'll have an easier time learning.

Women love me Fish fear me
Women love me …

The game has little to no content in terms of late to end game, most of it is running through harder levels on harder challenge difficulties to get your character to 200, but the characters, gameplay, stories, and early game content justifies this games price of $9.99 USD. Good Game!

I recommend it, but know this.
This game is extremely unfinished, grindy, and buggy. That being said, it's essentially a roguelike with saves. I don't know why you'd play this over EtG, RoR1/RoR2, Dead Cells, TBoI, etc. Honestly just not great, but I did have some fun with it while I played. My bias comes in through my generally enjoyment of roguelikes however.

When I first played the game I loved it and was hopeful for more updates as the game really feels unfinished.
It has NEVER been updated after full release in 2017, at which point they switched focus onto something else. Not sure if the new games follow the same pattern but I'd avoid it.

null
null

It's a very unique game and I recommend just for that, given the fair price. Just keep in mind, while it feels polished, it never feels like a complete game.

Gameplay(7/10)

TLDR: Fun at first, but quickly gets repetitive. Lack of goals/rewards and gameplay variety makes the game feel incomplete.

Mobility in this game is very goofy (in a good way). You jump and air dash infinitely as long as you have energy. Walking is rarely used.
Jump/fly and some shoot fairly projectiles. Both enemies and projectiles deal damage on contact and are fairly slow, which makes their evasion feel very similar. As a result combat is pretty much feels identical against almost every enemy. Few uncommon enemies force you to approach them differently because they have have faster projectiles or are too big to jump over.

There are multiple biomes with different materials and stronger enemies, but they feel like palette swaps, as map layout always feels the same and enemies feel similar in combat.

This game doesn't offer much in terms of RNG to make runs feel different. There area few events and variations of each biome setups, but those feel more like challenges rather than alteration to gameplay.

Finally, you are rewarded for reaching certain milestones (good stuff) and you've got your equipment progression (ability to kill in higher maps quickly). I feel like these are the only 2 goals the game gives you to continue playing and that is precisely what makes the game feel incomplete. I don't feel like equipment is equipment on its own is a good central goal, although it could be a good supplementary goal. Milestones are great as a replacement for story that pushes you towards higher level content bosses, but they are fairly limited.

Roguelike/lite and progression

I'm not sure whether to call it a roguelike or roguelite. While death makes you lose all equipment and levels, as you progress you gain access to additional starter stats combos (some of which are just upgrades over initially available ones). You can also transfer loot across different sessions, if you store it before death. I can't say if this approach is good or bad, but it's unique so I appreciate it.

Equipment progression is very impactful, making it feel rewarding. With that said it's linear and actual progression is earned mostly through grind. Later in game this makes equipment feel like a grind-gated necessity rather than exciting reward.

Dawns
Dawns

If you plan on only playing by yourself then its fine, but it is a headache to play with others. Even after forwarding ports there is a chance you won't be able to connect/have to click the connect button multiple times to finally connect.

Pandize
Pandize

When's the sequel? Absolutely loved Magicite, then this came out and I adored it. I think this game has a very unique style and an amazing loop of progression. So much fun with friends, really high skill curve. Played a bunch of hours and haven't seen all the worlds or even come close to completing a campaign.

It's a blast.

Master Oogway
Master Oogway

i hate that the publisher just gives up mid game development. same happend to all his other games :(

Evil You
Evil You

It's really good and I'd go as far as call it a classic. But the thing is: there are so many better options than this game and the main reason that is because of the developer. The singular (as far as i know) dev for this game really started to lose motivation to keep adding things to the game in the latter half of the development and as a result, a large margin of features, predominantly endgame content, suffered a lazy implementation. Many enemies are retextures, items don't do anything or have little reason to exist. If you don't mind hosting a server for multiplayer or just want something simple, I'd say give it a try because you could understand what the whole experience will be like by the time you get halfway through the refund time. Otherwise, it's kinda just sad and disappointing to see so much hard work got cut down into something so small.
