This game feels like it has less to offer than your standard flash game.
There is no depth, no story, and the combat is just "You hit them, then they hit you."
Your character has one ability that they can use once during a run. (Unless you pay a hefty sum to upgrade)
The abilities are not anything interesting. Heal yourself 30 hp. (You start with 100) Deposit an item for the cost of a large sum of money, ect. Just boring and uninspired.
The reward you get for completing or dying in a run are shards which are used to buy a temporary item to use on your next run or money which is used to upgrade 1 of your characters three stats. (HP, Strength, or Dodge)
This game entire gameplay is about seeing all of the items and enemies once. All this game has to offer are pretty sprites. Nothing more. Not worth the try.

I really enjoy this game. I normally don't care much for rogue-like games, but this one was always a lot of fun. I played this game for a while on mobile, so when I saw it on sale for less than $3 on Steam, I had to grab it. I must say that it seems a good bit more difficult on the Steam version, but I enjoy the greater challenge. I love the variety of items, of creatures, the clone system; there are a number of things that are great about this game. Now there are some areas where I do feel the game could be improved, but some of the complaints I see (the combat system, ect.) shouldn't really be complaints because they are what makes the game unique. Now I do think, however, that the game lacks a driving plot that gives the player the initiative to move forward. Discovering new loot and enemies can only go so far, so if there was a series of levels that had you saving the Gekkians or covered some other tangent where "You," "Clone ..." was the only hope for some linear, purposeful objective, it would improve the game.

Now the fact that the objective of the game is open-ended, and the only goals are exploration and discovery, is not necessarily a bad thing. The only thing is that when I play, it feels like something is missing. The concept and gameplay are things that I love, but it feels like there is something central that was left out of the game. Nevertheless, I love the game, and I'm very happy that it's on Steam. I am indeed a satisfied customer, and I very much support Kitfox games along with their ability to make unique, interesting games.

Picked this up after reading Tanya Short's article on making the game over on Gamasutra, sounded really interesting for a roguelike.

I've played little bits here and there, but generally it devolves into hours passing before I realise I've been sitting concentrating on this game for so long!

Just completed a run through to level 34, with a level 1 clone, and got thousands of materials for upgrading my clones!

Strangely satisfying, the music and humor fit the game well.

Curator Review:

This 2D Isometric Indie Strategy/Adventure/Roguelike game from Kitfox Games is another entry into the Roguelike genre and it does it justice. Take the role of Clone 001 and explore Old Earth. Learn what happened to the planet through the small bits of lore found on items and fill up the datalog with all of the new strange creatures that now inhabit this Shattered Planet.

I'll start off by saying that I think the price for this game is too steep. It's a good game in short bursts or for when you have some time to kill, but once you spend some time with it you will realize that it is a grind fest with gameplay that becomes extremely repetitive despite the procedurally generated levels. This game is good for a casual gaming experience but lacks depth for anything else.

I've had a lot of fun with this game. There is a certain amount of grinding that goes with it, but it's still a fun rogue-like to zone out with.

it looks nice but turns out to be a repetitive and boring game without any elements drawing you to play more

Although quite pretty, the actual gameplay is very simple and grindy. It belongs on an iPad, not a PC.

I love this game. It's a simple, fun roguelike. It's not a game you can play for hours on end, but great to pull out every now and again to try and beat your last score. You can upgrade your clone after every mission, plus bring a limited number of items with you on each quest.

Snerk

its alright. you explore an isometric set of maps, see how far you get, then die and do it again. it has roguelike and rpg elements, a simple interface, turnbased movement and combat, and a charming scifi aesthetic. rounds do not last long, so gameplay consists of snack-sized portions that leave you eager for more.

Played for almost 30 hours total when I had a shared account with my ex. Gave it a spin almost a year after and wrote this review! Everything remained almost identical. Was serching really hard to find depth the 1st time, but its simply not there.

Summary: (out of 10)
Graphics: 6
Sound: 5
Story: 3
Gameplay: 3 (counts x 2 in total score)

TOTAL: 4 / 10

Pros:
+ visually better then most roguelikes out there
+ Daily challange once per day is fun concept
+ Blight system is a nice idea

Maybes
/ not many rougelikes feature a Sci-Fi theme, this one does
/ Cartoonish art is kinda cute if you are into that

Cons:
- Few characters, they are almost identical
- Few weapons, armor
- Few different enemies
- Mostly melle, guns are rare and their gameplay is retarded
- Tactically VERY lite, few opportinities to use brain here and there
- Simplified leveling system
- 1 armor 1 weapon is all you can wear - way over simplistic

Conclusion:
There are far superior roguelikes, even roguelites.
If price was 5$ then maybe, at this price? DEFINETLY A NO GO!

For those of you who want the Roguelike experience without all the hassle of having to keep track of complicated stats and dice rolls, this game is for you. This is one of my favorites.

P.S. - the free tablet version of this game is amazing, definitely worth picking up if you don't mind ads.

Basically "Baby's first Roguelike", with good graphics, and easy, well-designed UI, but not a lot of depth. It's makes for a fun few hours, but you probably won't want to come back to it again later.

If you're new to roguelikes and like the theme, you could do worse than giving this a try when it's on sale.

The game is worth to buy it, especially with a good discount.

Not a deep or complex game. Great if you hace a just a few minutes to spend on something mindless.

If you can get it cheap enough, it's good for at least 5 hours of play.

The level up system is strictly a grind that is only accessible after you die. It is very underpowered and requires hours of grinding before noticing a difference.

Unlike hardcore rogue-likes, you only lose your inventory when you die. Generating equipment doesn't feel very randomized and you end up with the same garbage over and over again. You only have 2 equip slots; 1 weapon and 1 helmet. You can choose a character to play, but they level up independently and have very little and sometimes insignificant differences. Usually they have 1 passive (which is generally an insignificant stat boost) and 1 ability (useful in most cases, but can only use a limited number of times depending on how often you level it up).

The only things you need to get through 30 floors is a shovel and multiple teleport guns (which are easily found). There is little incentive for killing mobs (very little loot).

The overarching "goal" of the game is to fill the archive with information such as mobs, items, weapons, helmets, terrain and guns. As an example of how frustrating this is, I looked at the guns section and found that I had discovered 33% of them after 10 hours of gameplay. The problem is that I've seen every version of those 33% at least 10 times each. There may be a "secret" to finding other guns, but the game provides little guidence.

Mobs do a lot more damage than you recieve healing items. Some of the larger mobs are pointless to fight because of how much damage they do compared to the little to no loot they provide. They are better off getting teleported over the edge. There are weapons and helmets that can grant resist and immunity to various damage types, but good luck gathering them all.

Mobs have terrible AI. If there are a couple hostile mobs after you, as soon as one is on a 1 square wide bridge; the other will halt because it can't find a path to you instead of following the other mob. Companion mobs wont try to position themselves to help you fight and there is no way of controlling them.

Once you get deep enough into the dungeon, there is zero worth to killing enemies. They either have too much health or defense. The best strategy at this point is to teleport them over the edge and avoid them.

The interface is relatively impressive considering the only controls you need are mouse movement and left click. This is allowed because of the games simple design and lack of depth.

Overall, I can't recommend this game to enthusiast of rogue-likes because this game is too grindy. I feel that rogue-likes should provide reward relative to your progress whereas this game took away active leveling, diverse skills and intricate equipment.

I always like to have a game on hand that I can play for a few minutes in between other games. Caves of Qud was that for a long time (at least until I got good enough to spend hours on it), Hero of the Kingdom was perfect, and even hidden object games have filled the bill at times. Coffee break games are a fine and necessary tradition, and Shattered Planet makes a strong showing in the genre. There's no telling how long it will stay strong for you, but it's worth diving into for as long as it does.

Shattered Planet has you investigating a planet that has, well, shattered. You beam down from your tiny survey ship onto randomized islands suspended in the atmosphere, and wander around looking for the teleporter to the next bunch of islands. Along the way you'll come across alien life forms, strange liquids, bits of equipment, and all sorts of random events as you keep ahead of a blight that's consuming what's left of the land. You'll keep chugging along until something inevitably kills you, only to be re-cloned back on your ship for another go.

During your sojourns you collect two kinds of currency, scrap metal and crystals, which can be spent on your ship. Crystals can generate random equipment (by default you start with nothing) and purchase pets to accompany you, and scrap buys consumable items and permanent upgrades to your class. There are five classes to unlock and over a dozen pets to capture and add to your menagerie so you have plenty of options for making each run a little different.

Gameplay-wise, it's a lighter version of very traditional roguelikes. You navigate along a grid by turns, bump into enemies for melee combat, and use the scant items you find to survive as long as possible. Equipment isn't a common find in Shattered Planet (since you can generate your own on your ship) so the main finds on your expeditions are going to be vials of liquid. There's maybe a dozen of these, all different colors, and their effect is randomized and hidden every run. Some might heal you, some might poison, some might permanently strengthen, and some might explode. This is a holdover from classics like NetHack where you had to experiment with unidentified items but here it's just a pain, because it means the first vial of each color you find is either going to be wasted on testing or gambled on yourself. Another holdover is the blight, which functions like a timer on each level as it consumes tiles, but serves no real purpose because within the limited mechanics there's nothing to exploit by hanging around for too long.

There's a multitude of biomes to explore, each with their own indigenous life and random events like haunted tree stumps and angry natives. Every time you encounter something new it gets added to a codex of the game's content, and at certain discovery milestones you get rewards. This is the real progression of the game, filling out this codex, and I admit it can be tempting to push on for another run or two when you just have a few discoveries left to the next level. However, this is the ONLY progression in the game. There are no bosses, and no end to the main Discovery Mode, so your enjoyment of Shattered Planet is going to last as long as your interest in finding new things is.

You do have a few options besides Discovery Mode, like the daily challenge with fixed equipment and the three scenarios that task you with specific objectives. They extend the lifespan of the game, but only so much. It's a bit of a cheap-feeling game as well, with stiff vector graphics animated in Flash style and a pretty limited spread of enemies to face. The sound design is fine, especially the music which fits the coffee break chill of the game perfectly. Shattered Planet doesn't aspire to much but does what it does well, and as long as you keep chasing the game's secrets you'll have a fine time with it.

Did you enjoy this review? I certainly hope so, and I certainly hope you'll check out more of them at https://goldplatedgames.com/ or on my curation page!

This game is a good experience at first, some nice references and a lot to discover. But things get boring really fast when you understand how the game works, and that's not hard to do.

I would rate the game a 5/10, just for the art, music and the experience I had on the first few hours. But I still not recommencing because of the lack of replayability and shallow mechanics.

a roguelike-lite game. simple controls, minimal customizations, although plenty of items to discover and use. obviously this game was designed with mobile in mind.

still, there's plenty to like, from the simple, but yet nice graphics, the quirky creatures, and funky items scattered through the game.

probably not so much for the hardcore roguelike game fans out there, but would better suit people who wants a more casual experience, to slowly explore and discover the world.

As yet another addition to the seemingly endless slew of roguelike / roguelite games of recent, Shattered Planet doesn't do anything extraordinary to distinguish itself from most of it's predecessors.

What it lacks in originality however is matched by a sizable amount of content variety, some good humor and characters, and levels that feel genuine and fun to explore. Staying closer to the older, tried and true trifecta of roguelike mechanics - turnbased gameplay, permadeath, and random generation allows Shattered Planet to focus on achieving a balanced and refined experience, and it's a lot of fun.

If you're looking for something new and out there, this is not likely to satisfy that thirst, but if you're looking for a roguelike that is honest about what it is, Shattered Planet is a good place to look.

First bought this game from the Google Play store. Loved the game so much, I got it when it came out on Steam. Consider this:

- It's a solid port from iOs/Android systems to PC.
- NO PAY TO WIN!
- NO MICROTRANSACTIONS (like some candy based match 3 games I won't metion names)
- Fairly simple gameplay mechanics.
- lasts from 1 minute to about 10, depending on what you're playing.
- Lot's of replayability.

Only thing better would be if I were paid to play the game.

I♥♥♥♥♥♥you not ive played trough this game in 1 hour...
This game is so basic i can program it myself in even less then an hour!

Don't get me wrong, this game is cute and i like the style of it... But it is a smartphone game!
It would be fun on a flight to play on a plane for 1-2 hours or so, but you would never touch it again afterwards!

This game has almost no game mechanics and almost no content!
Things may look different but are the same and behave the same, its walk/atk collect... Not that thats bad!
It is just very little, still if this was a smartphone game for like 5-10$ i would have like it, but not like this!

It's a nice time-waster of a game, but I'd say definitely get it on sale.

I like that I can jump in, play a round or two, and quit. It's easy to play, even though it annoys me a bit that there are no real defensive moves: you can attack, run away, or try one of your items, and that's it. The game is low-stress because dying doesn't really mean anything. Which is good, because you'll die a lot. The fun comes from collecting and trying out new items, finding new pets (which is mostly a matter of chance), and leveling your clone up. I both like and hate that the effects of all potions are unknown whenever you send your clone out. You have to try them to see what they do and hope for the best. The pets are probably one of my favorite features of the game. I wish it were easier to find and collect them - half of the ones I currently have are unlockable "gifts" from the game.

So far, I've mostly played Exploration mode. I've played one of the "winnable" levels a few times, and actually made it to the end once, mostly due to luck (I hit the much-more-powerful-than-me creature with a teleporter item and they just happened to teleport off a cliff). I prefer Exploration mode and its complete lack of goals, but it's nice to occasionally play an area where it's possible to survive and make it back to the ship.

This game is a nice relaxing way to spend time. It's randomly generated and you explore. You get stuff via exploring, and you level up by finding new stuff. You can make new things with crystals, but they're randomly generated. This game is a good game to sit down with and relax.

Love this, exploring, discovering new plants and items, random item creation, upgrading and enhancing characters, everything I love from this sort of game and done quite well. Have you ever played the game 'Azure Dreams'? Shattered Planet is practically a spiritual successor to that game, only without the town storyline involved with it.

In other words, it is Azure Dreams, without the roleplay aspect.

OOh, don't get me wrong: there *is* a story and lore, but it's nowhere near as deep, and instead of playing a single character who mysteriously returns to your city every time you die, you play as 'Clone #1'..... or rather, you play as several million clones, *all* named 'Clone #1'. Subtle, and yet a fantastic joke.

That's something to be noted about this game: while it's a completely serious experience as a game, it has small nods to humor here and there that don't quite seem out of place. It's 'smart humor' for the most part: stuff that doesn't jump out and smack you in the face, but that strikes you about three minutes after you see it, causing you to facepalm and laugh.

It's.... quirky, I think, would be the best way to describe it. And I mean that in the most affectionate way possible.

Progression in the game depends on both luck and skill, and like many of the better games of its style, it's one that is unforgiving, and yet at the same time is incredibly, brilliantly, clever about it. You may tear your hair out as you keep dying as the game progresses, but death by death, you actually start to grow, not just by learning about various creatures and how to tactically fight (or avoid) them, but about how to manage your resources and when to utilize your various characters, and how.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Yes, I very definitely would. It's the kind of game that I find catches my attention for days on end, and yet that I can put away for several months without feeling guilty about. It's a great 'time-killer'. Especially for fans of the 'roguelike with growth' genre.

Cristovelli
Cristovelli

A very lite, casual rogue. Nice sprite art, very limited scope. Gets old quick but the short time it takes to play through a round makes it a decent pick-up game during breaks. There is not much to accomplish, but aside from the 'explore' run where you are guaranteed to eventually die and lose your gear, there are 3 missions which you can actually complete to win and bring back gear if you do. On top of this is a daily challenge which gives you a chance to bring back prizes.

There are two types of main equipment, a helmet, and a melee weapon. That's it. These are the two items that confer stat bonuses when equipped. On top of that there are various special use items which you may or may not find helpful on your run. Then there are mystery fluids -- potions -- which in true roguelike fashion you never know what they will do until you try one. Quite often the results are bad, and one unlucky potion can end an otherwise lucky run quick. The teleport potion, yeah it's almost certainly going to throw you off a cliff if you find it. This mechanic adds a rather stupid Russian Roulette factor into the game that really doesn't need to be there.

Although you do lose your equipment when you die, you do retain the two currency types that you acquire on your trips, scrap which you use to upgrade your stats, and crystals which you use to generate more equipment. You can also get various pets to take with you as a companion.

I recommend this game ONLY on the cheap and ONLY if you need a turn-based time waster. It's very mediocre on fun and probably better just as a phone game.

Pretty fun game, actually. The want and need to progress further and further on the planet causes you to keep trying to play more. It is rather repetitive, nothing really to the storyline, but for games like this, I am okay with it. Would be nice if there were more areas to discover and play, though.

For the sale price, Shattered Planet is a steal. Having a seemingly endless (and thoroughly satisfying) rougelite experience in spite of dying at steady intervals (I'm still not sure what happens after level 5) makes room for quite a bit of replay value that isn't likely to get stale.

The power-up and combat systems all seem fair and balanced, so you're more likely to blame yourself when poop hits the fan rather than the developer, which can't be said for most roguelites. 8/10, would play again.

this game is like, fun-adjacent. like it's almost fun. it's got cool ideas but mostly what disappointed me is that there's a lot less content than i originally expected. i got about an hour in and thought "oh, that's it?"

i don't regret sinking 3 hrs into it, but i'm not thrilled about it either. i wish steam reviews weren't a yes/no sort of thing, because im really on the fence about this game. i didn't hate it, and i didn't love it.

here's some things i did enjoy about it because i don't wanna be a total downer: i like the way the usable items' properties are set to randomize with each new run, i like all the different player character options, i like the robot dog and various other companion critters, and i like the stat checks.

so tl;dr: 5/10, if you like the sound of the game, i'd say go for it when it's on sale.

Awful "game". It's just a complete waste of time, and clearly also intended to be a waste of money.

I had played this a few years back on iOS and it was clear it was just another money-grab iPhone game. Decided to try it out here and give it a second chance thinking maybe the PC version would be better. Nope. There is just nothing fun about it.

There's about 75 achievements to make you FEEL as though you are having fun. An illusion of progression. This game is just a complete grindfest. There is no story arc, no point to any of it. Even the combat is boring as hell.

I honestly cannot recommend anyone waste their time on this. But given the massive success of mobile games, and the other reviews of this game, I'm going to go ahead and bet money on the fact people love wasting their time & money for nothing in return.

Think of all the amazing and more wonderful things you could be doing with your life.

this is one of my favourite games. I have been playing the ios version on my ipad just about since release, and after a while I took up playing it on PC. Usually i don't have much patience for a)isometric b)roguelike c)turn based games, but this game is all of those things yet i got super addicted to it. What is Shattered Planet ?

I wish the RPG mechanics of this game were better used on something else, the whole way this game sets its gameplay is reallyyy bad, this whole turn-based RTS thing is pretty bad and adding roguelike mechanics made it even worse, the levels were pretty bad and the enemy counters even worse, I've yet to see a single enemy that posed a threat or had a cool design, you just walk around really boring environment fighting small enemies through a really boring slog of a gameplay that is mostly walking and nothing else, there isnt even enough tactic for the whole strategy aspect of it, its just a crap game.

A simple little roguelike game that provides an interesting spin on the genre, without being sufficiently involved as to require vast effort. Easy to pick up and play for quick sessions. Sadly, the game is too repetitive and flat, combat is too simplified and it gets you bored very fast because of that. The game runs smooth and looks very nice, but it is overly casual to be fun. Not a kind of title the rogue-like players usually look for.

Shattered Planet is the first ever game made by Kitfox Games, which have a special place in my heart for making Moon Hunters and sometime this year releasing Boyfriend Dungeon. It also was the second game I played by these developers, and even though it can get repetitive and competitors might pull this kind of game off better, it still has its charm.

A casual turn-based Rogue-Like for quite the cheap price if picked up on sale.
Even though people say that the fact that this is a port from mobile is quite obvious and certainly is noticable, I barely did.
It's quite the opposite of in-depth, which was a fresh change from all the Rogue-Likes out there.
Also it has its typical random events with answer #1 and #2, each having an other outcome and impact on your character, if it makes your chance of dodging higher, chance of critting, your health in general or might damage you, you have no clue of at first, you might even gain new companion or a brand new weapon.
It has the TBOI-princicple with the differently coloured pills, here in form of potions, with random effects you first don't know about.
Try them out, either drink them or throw them.
Drinking might heal you, or do you some damage with a burn.
Throwing might heal enemies, buff them, or burn/poison them, many possible outcomes as you can read.
I just love this kind of stuff, and it all is in this game, so there definitely is no way I could give it a negative review, even if there were one or two more negative points.

I picked it up in a sale for ~2,50€ and put 17 hours in it, I truly didn't regret anything. As it is the second game by Kitfox Games I now have played, there was still no disappointment to be discovered. I'll base my rating on the original price & my overall experience.

To put it bluntly, Shattered Planet is one of the worst Roguelike I ever had the displeasure to play and it's not worth the price at all, even considering this is the first game made by Kitfox, especially when they straight up abandoned it, leaving some items impossible to collect (making 100% completion not achivable if you are into that) and not fixings LOTS of bugs and glitches that plague the experience, either by being a minor annoyance or outright impeding your progress

The premise of Shattered Planet is that you, the clone of a space adventurer, with the aid of your space crew, that is made by the huge number of one 'nother alien guy, must travel to the now shattered planet of Earth to find a cure to a space disease known as "Blight", which there are currently no ways to treat it.
Sounds like an interesting plot right? Well, I hope you weren't looking forward to know on how it unfolds, because simply, it doesn't.
There are a total of 5 campaign you can pick from: a daily challenge, the main exploration mode and 3 story-based "dungeons" presented in a a quasi-episodic format, but none of them bring it to a satisfying conclusion, meaning that the whole thing is left completely unsolved, and the search for the cure becomes nothing more than an excuse for there to be a game to begin with. The game doesn't even bother to give you lore or info through flavour text, item descriptions or dialogues, in fact it just keeps and EXTREMELY obnoxious "humorous" tone that is probably meant to take the edge of your dungeon crawling, but comes across as uninspired at best and cringy af at worst.
Not even the main mode of the game bothers to answer any question the player has about the universe of Shattered Planet, just dropping you in randomly generated "dungeons", which are made by the floating layers of the destroyed planet and telling you to scout as far as you can.
Now you might be thinking that there might be an ultimate objective to reach at the end of exploration mode (the main attraction), that while it doesn't conclude the story at least it might make the player feel rewarded at the end, having managed to best the game by completing a run, which was what I was thinking as well.

Problem is... There is not even that, the main mode is BLOODY ENDLESS!

That's right! You cannot win at all, the game was designed to have an arcade-like progression: get as far as you can so that you might get a new record once you die.

This, at least for me, completely defeats the point a Roguelike: what's the point of playing a game where you must travel to complete an important quest if you do not actually undertake the sodding thing?

This just ends up making the whole game feels aimless, not helped by the sorest point of the game: the progression.
In the early game the odds are completely stacked against you from a numerical stand point: you start the game INCREDIBLY weak, with poor stats all across the board, and very limited ways to improve them during a run. You are set up for failure at the start, and no matter how savy and how safe you play, you won't make significant progress, because all enemies hit ludicrously hard, are incredibly precise with their attacks and hard, if not impossible, to side step.
Which means you are forced to do babysteps to collect currency to power yourself up for future runs, as while you lose all items when you die, you keep your currency. There are two types of it: crystals used to buy consumables, weapons, armour and companions before a run, and scrap metal used to improve your stat and skills and buy items only during a run, crystals are not used while you are exploring.
Unsurprisingly, the usage of both currency is flawed as well: with the exception of "pets" (which are VERY useful because enemies tend to prioritise them before you... Even though you are not allowed to control them directly or giving them orders making using them effectively rather cumbersome and frustating) all items are randomised, which makes the whole pre-run shop COMPLETELY pointless because you cannot pick the stufff you prefer using over others. It's nothing new that RL give you a randomised inventory before a run, but forcing you to grind currency for it is just both stupid and a waste of time (much like the rest of the game).
As I mentioned before, metal is used to improve your stat and skill before you start exploring (and every playable character has a different special skill, that has limited charges but doesn't use a turn when activated) , and by improving your stats you also gain a level, as there is not experience system or anything here, so the level of a character really doesn't matter beside giving a general idea of how strong they are. The issue with that is that you can ONLY do that before you start a run, which means once you are in the "dungeon" you cannot permanetly upgrade you at all until you die and come back (or just complete the run if you are playing any mode that isn't exploration). This basically means that the main gameplay loop is: buy crap, start a run, die and repeat step one over and over and over until you just throw up your hands and disinstal the game out of sheer disgust and boredom, and the game doesn't provide enough variety to prevent that from happening. Even worse, the Clones do not share the progression, which means you are forced to grind stats for each of them, and if you focus on only one you risk outleveling the others to the point they become useless! This could have been easily fixed by making so that all characters shared the same stats (as they all have the same amount at the start of the game and when you unlock they all start at level 1) and levels and making you only pay separetly for their skills as they are all different, but instead the developers decided to artificially lenghthen the game turning it in a chore of a grindfest!
You can improve you stats temporaly during a run, either through buffs that eventually burn out, or semi-permanently stat increases through special events that last until the end of the run, but, as the rest of the game, are randomised and obtained at irregular breaks, so you cannot relay on them

And now, as for finally the game itself and the overall gameplay I can already tell you it says a lot about the overall product when I can say more about the mechanicals aspects of it than the actually ruddy game: it's really just your bog-standard roguelike when the objective of every level is to find a teleporter to pass to the next one of throw yourself off the layer you landed to get to the next in exchange of losing a good chunk of health. Enemies are uninteresting and uninspired, only getting harder to deal with not by showcasing new moves, powers or tactics but by just having more health and dealing more damage, most weapons act the same beside few exception, armour just provide you with passive stat increses, some buffs and resistances (which are pointless because like only one enemy type each or two use elemental attacks).
There are also randomly coloured fluids in a bottle, which acts like potions in most games of this genre: have a randomised appereance and bestow a different effect in each run.
The most noteworthy mechanic in the game is probably the blight itself: it infect the starting square you land in, starts spreading to others and grow, eventually dealing damage to you (not to your pet), destroy items laying on the ground, generate hostile monsters that never drops items and exist just as a deterent to hang close to it, corrupts other enemies that step on it making them more aggresive and dangerous and eventually overtakes the whole level... Unless you have a shovel or an explosive weapon/bottle and make the starting point blow up, sending the boxes around it fall down, basically quarantining it, or using a weapon that makes you immune to the plague, basically removing a gameplay element altoghether

In conclusion: this game is bad, thank you for reading

No meat to the game.

It's such a watered down rogue 'lite' that it may as well be homeopathic.

Well I bought this game several years ago and I really tried to like it, but unfortunately it's not worth playing. First of all it lacks any kind of depth and replayability which is a must for roguelike games. Yes, it has tons of weapons and items and so on but they have no purpose and has nearly 0 impact on gameplay.

I can point out at least 20-30 maybe even more titles until pointing out this game. Apart from that, this was a game that was free on android years ago(not sure if it's still around), so yeah they just ported it to pc and didn't even bother with adding a proper control system. The mouse only movement controlling is terrible.

The only good side I can say is the art, it really has a great art-style and drawings with environment, weapons and characters etc, but of course that never is enough to be a decent game nowadays.

Okay for a few hours but dreadfully repetitive. Feels like it lacks both content and challenge.

Shattered Planet is a solid roguelike, but there's not a ton here that you won't get from any other roguelike you might play. I'd only recommend it if you're a real fiend for the genre; otherwise, just throw yourself against another roguelike you already own.

Honestly, it's really good. It's relaxing, a great time killer, somewhat challenging and a bit cheeky at times.

I've played a lot worse games with better ratings than this. It's not for spending 10h in a couple days, it's more the kind of game you start up when you don't know what to do atm. Then you go for 1 or 2 runs before letting it sit in your library until the next time you end up bored.

The negatives are at the same time some of its biggest strengths:
- not much of a story.
- very simple controls.

Perfect for hopping in and out whenever you feel like it and exploring this strange shattered world.

Ofc I'd recommend getting it on sale, there's hardly anything you can do wrong with this at 5 bucks.

This game is highly addictive and fun to play. I got it during this summer sale and it was well worth it. Sometimes I wish there were more difficulty modes and permanent items somehow, but maybe that is something I have yet to discover yet, and I am hoping for an expansion on this. After I realized how fun it was I immediately attempting looking it up on the phone app store. I so think this should be on more platforms. Fun, casual, and pleasantly addictive. Should be more games like this out there. Cheers!

Holy arcade-game heaven! If i were more a fan of the genre it would be at the top of my list; it's save-able rpg elements really make it a game to return to. 10/10

Not enough content to justify it's price tag. While roguelike in the sense that you die and start over, it feels more like something that was meant to have microtransactions to add more to it but didn't (which would have been even worse). Personally wouldn't recommend unless on a extreme sale, but even then there's better alternatives.

Logia
Logia

Its a decent pass time if you have nothing else to do. Think of the Tom Cruise move, Edge of Tomorrow, where you live, die and repeat. Gradually you accrue enough in game funds to level yours stats up to make going through the earlier levels easy enough. The ultimate end goal is to try and get as far as possible before dying.

I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone in particular but it has served a good 30mins of play time. Now onto something else.

Loot and level, do I need to say more?

You lose everything everytime you die, but you can also permanently upgrade your stats. There are some planets to explore. A surprise gift every 10 items you find/unlock. Clone pets you can unlock to follow and protect you.

Yes, it's very repetitive, but some people like that.

All in all I'd say it's worth it. If you hesitate, get it on sale, like I did.

I bought this game because I used to play the phone app years back (long gone from the app store last i checked). Although I wish they would add some new content.... it is still totally worth it when it is on sale. It's a super casual time with a nice loot grind and just enough randomness. I don't have time or even want to get into anything involved so this is perfect for me.

I was thrilled with this game until:
The two 10k achievements are broken and:
Kitfox Games doesn't respond to contact.
Don't support developers that won't stand behind their work.

I did a "first hour" stream of this game when I first played it, and it was one of the funniest Rogue Likes I've ever played. The Writing is witty, there's a secret origin of a character from Boyfriend Dungeon, the systems are intuitive and lots to discover as you play more and more. V excited to play more!

Utterly awful. It's a roguelite that follows all of the worst tropes. Expect tons of grinding just to make it past the first few levels as combat is nothing but pure stat checking, and their stats are bigger than yours.

Great little game.
Quite addictive to look for new items and weapons, funny descriptions of them!
A bit grindy to get powerful enough to advance on the difficult levels, but it's quite fun to investigate.
Testing the potions each time to see what they do is a bit annoying, and the prices of sending back items is too high.
I still get back to it time to time, I wish they'd make a second part, there's loots of room to improvement and lots of potential!

If it is on sale, and you like this type of game, definitely get it. It has a similar vibe to that old "Doctor Brain" game. It is very fun, and takes several hours before you're able to "get good" and access all the content. There are also little random events that require you to play for several hours until you can say that you have seen most of them since they are randomly generated. For full price it might not be such a great deal. It can get old after several hours, especially if you are anti-grinding games.

Turn based exploration on a fractured planet. If you like trying to beat your previous best, and wearing goofy head gear and wielding even goofier weapons, then you'll like this game. Mind you, it will be grindy, but that's part of the fun. It's also repetitive, and that's a minus.

I find this game to be a relaxing way to pass time. There isn't a lot to the game really. You do the same thing over and over, but there's a lot of different things to explore and strategies to learn. I'll probably always comeback to this game from time to time. I'd like to see this team create another similar game. It's been out for a bit now.

Not sure why the rating is so low for this game, I had many many hours of relaxing fun on my iPad with this before. This version is a lot more polished with more content than I remember. The original price might be a bit steep but it's an absolute steal if it's ever on sale! I really recommend giving this a go.

Death

Pretty good one for its price, yet with me not bein fan of roguelike's, I'd say it's not exactly up my alley.
Decentish, very fun until freshness wears off, too rnd sometimes in matters of finding all items or some events (I literally had certain event once in my whole playtime of dozens of runs), and certain chives will take quite forever to obtain.

Had some bugs, sure, like bein stuck and unable to move, which sometimes fixes itself, or softlock the client pretty much, 50/50. Far from nice.

Huge amount of items for a setup with lots of refs, whilst mainly them bein quite useless.

Aside from few missions, main playmode is endless, hence I couldn't have any fun not bein really able to complete it somehow, but that's me.
Also, pretty much permadeath, and losing equipment and loot from such failed or main run didn't add any fun for me.
Completing special missions however lets u keep it all, that's a huge +.

Lots of chives, which will take maybe hundred or so hours to obtain it all fairly, since 2 of em for 10k frags req alot of time.

Hence in general, it's still great. Maybe 8, 8.5 out of 10.
Fun for maybe couple of weeks at least, which is good nuff,
and all of that for a price of less than half a pizza slice with 90% disc.
Had way more fun than eating one, and it lasted longer, for sure.

May be at times slightly grindy if you're aiming for a build... but as a casual thing to play just for fun, if you don't mind your gear being very random, this is golden! Also, I like the humor in the items, naming and achievement details :)

Acquired on sale, 10/10 recommend even if I didn't.

gorshen3
gorshen3

A surprisingly fun little hidden gem of a traditional, sci-fi Rogue-like. Plenty of unique loot, characters, companions, enemies, environments, challenges, and encounters, the lattermost of which often has branching paths, each with its own unique rewards and/or consequences. I'd say it has a medium-level grind: the average player will die on occasion, and it will take some time to be able to afford new and better items and gear (most of which are quite humorous, by the way), but it certainly can't be called a Dark Souls level of difficulty, as even the worst players (*cough* *cough* me *cough* *clears throat*) should be able to make some small progress. You do, however, have to plan your moves carefully, as the tiles that you've already walked across will slowly "sicken" with "the Blight" and mutant enemies will continuously spawn (possible Morrowind reference?) until you activate the level's teleporter to journey on. It is meant to be played in small bursts, however. Even though I did end up getting bored with it, I still consider this one of my all-time favorite games available on Steam, and I'm seriously considering playing it again to try to get more achievements. Wish me luck!
