Good game to practice using a keyboard, although personally requires a bit too much time to get some rare letters like j, k, q, v, w, x, y and z.
Got to around 190 achievement before using SAM, felt bad, reset achievements, before finally deciding I didn't care that much, used SAM again.
And I will forever be horrendous at typing number, oh well...

Looks like a BS game for farming achievements or something. No significant gameplay mechanics.

For .49 cents I cant really complain BUT the music is horrific and the fact that you cant turn it down or off was a deal breaker for me. This game in my opinion has potential if the music could be muted or even turned down.

Easy to play game, 30 minutes play can get you t0 level 25 and 200 achievements,
Good for warming up to use the keyboard in a day - either for work, or a gaming session
Fun, good music, colourful -
Crazy mode will probably get you the number achievements fastest, but words are my favourite for getting achievements -one run/session can equate to roughly 20 achievements -and you can also use them to build a word on your profile's 'display'

minimal, basic, quick sessions between games, studies, hard work, etc.

Love it.

Finished it: 2.2 hours till 303 achievements are earned :) nice typo practice. Will be comparing Slash Ultimate with this one :)

Cute - nice music -fun - There are nice pauses in the typing, and more than enough modes to type all the characters at least 120 times :)

Slash It 2 is a 2D arcade game in which you need to click on numbers, letters and write different words for a while and in the correct order. With this game, you can learn how to quickly type on the keyboard.

Slash It 2 is a fantastic game that really helps excersise touch typing skills or for those wanting to improve key pressing reaction times. Slash It 2 also has an incredible soundtrack that is different depending on which mode is chosen to play. It is cheap and very highly recommended.

First things first though, this game is one of those 'Achivement Farming' games where you play the game for a low amount of time and gain hundreds of achievemens. Now this may be the case here and looking over the Achievements they are all relatively the same letters, numbers and symbols with different font and styling, but it doesn't change the fact that the game is actually lots of fun both to play and listen to.

There are several modes to chose from such as typing Words, Numbers, Letters or a combination of Letters and Numbers. All of these modes get progressively harder as you play them and all of them will help you improve reaction time and keyboard layouts. Choosing the Word mode means you will have to type entire words out as quickly as possible so specifically trains your touch typing skills as opposed to just reaction time and keyboard layout. The soundtrack is incredible to listen to and is slightly different for each of the modes and the visualiser in the background while playing is mesmerizing and colourful most likely to distract you from typing to increase the challenge.

This game is fantastic, cheap and gives you some fancy Achivements to spell various words or names on your Steam Showcase so I would genuinely recommend this game to anybody!

This review is teetering on the edge of whether I recommend it or not, like it's 51/49 in favor of this game. I love typing games, especially when they're accompanied by a killer soundtrack, but there are a few things that Slash It 2 does fundamentally wrong.

The numbers and letters section is fantastic, and I really got in the groove typing on the numpad in a way I hadn't experienced since I was a kid learning how to type.

My issue was when I unlocked the words category, and promptly realized that the game didn't pick which word had to be typed next, but rather that all words were fair game simultaneously. This led to times where two or more words would start with the same couple of letters, and once I began typing it would also count the letters of the other word I wasn't focusing on. Then I'd shift to that unfinished word and have to remember what it began with, which wasted more time than it would have taken to retype those missing letters.

In conclusion, Slash It 2 has a ton of potential to be a great teaching tool for people learning to type, but it has a few features that make it more difficult to accurately type things out.

What I'd like to see in the future:
1) An option to have the game lock you into one word when typing
2) An option to enable mistake tracking for people learning to type
3) A penalty-free mode similar to no-fail in rockband

You get exactly whats advertised. I purchased the game as an incentive to practice typing and 10-key, definitely a good way to pass some time in a productive manner.

My main request to devs would be a larger sound track, in this day and age 1$ per song could probably do some damage.

(Paid 99c for the game on Summer Sale).

Slash It 2 is a step up from Slash It 1! I would say the tracks are getting better something to jam out too while trying to reach a high score to pass your friends. The visuals and colors have also been another brighter experience for this game. One mode that was added would be the word mode. I will say its a blast trying to see how many words you can clear out as they're all sliding across the screen! Slash It 1 and 2 are both good games check em out if you like something to be content playing. Test your skills on typing if you're up for fun and a challenge!

I will come back to this game and play it for word mode for sure.

It's a simple little typing game.

Nice if you want to practice a bit of touchtyping.
It's also got purely numbers, which is nice if you want to focus on the numeric keypad.

And it's got an online leaderboard, so you can compete with other keyboard warriors.

I got it cheap with a coupon, which is nice.

Could maybe do with a bit more music variety..

Nice visuals and music, but it really gets me that in Word Mode, the words get cut off if you type some letters that are in another word, so you are stuck with trying to type bits and pieces of words and letters. If they fixed this, I'd probably play this a lot to relax. As it is right now, it's just annoying.

This seems to be mainly to farm achievements. I got 220 achievements in half an hour.

I guarantee you'll get irritated within a couple minutes and then spend hours trying to improve that one score your friend posted because your friend is a better typist than you'll ever be. - Either way if you're looking to improve your skills behind the wheels of a keyboard and be a true gamer this is a good practice tool, as its different game-modes can allow you to train touch-typing in a fun and interactive way.

Slash It 2 is the second part of an arcade game from Just1337 Studio. Second, and too much better than the first.

Gameplay

Little has changed since the first part. Our task is still to click on letters or numbers when they appear on the screen. In the game we have 6 modes, including one new one that consists of fast writing words, of which there is more and more.

Sound

The music in this part is much more pleasant than in the first part. It's still boring after a few minutes of playing, but it's much better.

Graphics

The graphics are better, but is it good? Although various effects were added, the creators could have tried even harder.

Summary

Overall, this is a good continuation of the Slash It series. The second part is better and I can recommend it. Although the price is still too high, I think it's worth buying and playing the title if you don't have a lot of free time.

This game feels like an unfinished product. The first time I tried to start a level the game crashed. After that I run it in a window mode and that solved the problem. Very stupid default input that makes you think that the game is very buggy. Not enough content and what it has is pretty bad. A couple of ok game modes. I was done with the game after 30 mins. Definitely not worth of 5$.

There is not too much to this game. You just type the letters shown on the screen. I generally love typing games, but this one is even more minimalist and less helpful for developing typing skills than most, even when compared to the multitude of free ones online. When on the mode where you are typing words (the only one even slightly worth playing), your typing affects all the words at the same time, so you often end up with word fragments just floating across the screen that do not help develop typing intuition, since you are just typing random letters at that point instead of words. The other modes just have you literally typing random letters or numbers or both, and are pretty dull. The music is meh, and there is no incentive to type on the beat or anything interesting like that.

Definitely pass on this one.

Good for achievement hunters but otherwise stay away from it.

Slash It 2 is a very, very, very simple game. The graphics are not impressive and the gameplay is certainly not entertaining enough to justify playing this game over other available options. The game is really short: you can unlock 100% of it in a few minutes and get all achievements in under 2 hours (took me about 90 minutes). In total, there are 303 very low-quality, unimaginative, grind-based achievements in the game.

The songs are all freely available elsewhere, so the game does not even have its own soundtrack. Additionally, the leaderboard has been hacked multiple times - I can only imagine how hard this was - and its first pages are essentially all cheaters (with scores which would take you a few continuous years of gameplay to get). I played this on Linux, and it launched in an unplayable state two times and crashed on me once (during those 90 minutes I mentioned above).

I wholeheartedly suggest you find something better to do than to play this. There are many good games on Steam that are more deserving of your time and money.

Slash Ultimate is it's successor and is better (albeit still not amazing as I state in my review on that game). That in combination with the fact that this is essentially just typing characters while listening to music I cannot recommend this game. It's not a rhythm game at all. Slash Ultimate atleast tries to incorporate the rhythm element. Nonetheless it's alright fun and free achievements. Not a bad game just not a rhythm game.

Mr. Boogie
Mr. Boogie

Mildly entertaining. This is a typing game and not a rhythm game. You just need fast fingers.

No bugs or crashes. Runs fine on Win 7.

Overall, a casual game that is neither bad nor great. The best feature is the music. Guess this is one of those games that you either crave or hate. It includes cards and easy to get achievements. I would not pay full price for this. If you get it for cheap, very cheap, it might feel like a decent pastime for a few hours. I'm kinda neutral about this so I'll give a thumbs up, but I would prefer the option to give a meh.

I believe this game to be a really chill and fun rhythm game. I received a coupon for the game and purchased it as it looked to be fun to play in between online classes, calls, etc. The game is extremely well priced for the enjoyment I received out of it. I would recommend playing it if you like typing or if you want to increase your typing skills/speed.

Mendhak
Mendhak

The game has so many achievements that they're constantly appearing at the bottom right of the screen, actually blocking words and getting in the way of seeing which word needs to be typed next.

I wouldn't really call it a rhythm game (which is one of the tags), the typing has no effect on the background and music. Personally, I found the music to be awful.

The core mechanic - typing - isn't done well either. If there are multiple words on screen, a single letter press will affect multiple words, leaving partial words on screen, which in turn breaks the (heh) rhythm of the typing.

Finally, on load of the game you can see the leaderboards, and it's pretty obvious that there are cheaters as they've reached Int32.MaxValue through automation.

I'm not a fan of this kind of games but I received a 90% coupon so I gave it a try. Nice game, especially for that price. :)
It's childish and has I guess chillout soundtrack but it's great for achievement hunters and collectors. I liked it also from the reason you can improve your typing skills too. Moreover there is a system which juxtapose your results with other gamers ( It's a nice feature) Overall I recommend this product but not for a full price. It will be better if you will wait for an occasion. ;)

i was hoping for this to be a fun rhythm game but I was a little disappointed about how bland the gameplay was and how each mode only has one song. I was lucky to have a discount code for this game and i only spent a dollar which was more than I should have payed.
wouldn't recommend this game, since it fails to even punish you for being off beat, kinda ruining the point of improving in a rhythm game and the game just looks unpolished. If you really do want to play this game though, turn off sound for scoring since now I have stupid popping noises stuck in my head with the terrible royalty free music.

I got this time for a dollar with a coupon. Fairly mediocre typing rhythm game with a great soundtrack. The background visuals were nice and colorful, but the choice of font for the letters and numbers don't fit with everything else. What would've made this better is if the characters appeared with the beat the music, maybe it was, but my typing wasn't in synch of said rhythm game.

At the very least I should be able to adjust the sound in a music game, but I can't. Still worth the price of what I spent for the achievements, not worth it at retail.

11€ are absolutely not worth for the game. It does that, what it does very good, but if you think about the number of the songs, it is nothing compared to other free2play games. Also I had many problems with the game not registrating my inputs properly. There is no prblem with my keyword, but some inputs did work properly.

I think I will keep it. The price is definetly too high, but for that what it is, it is good.

100% an improvement over slash it 1. While I'll miss the timing minigame, it was confusing and made alot of players quit. The word game that replaces it is AMAZING! tldr: this game has nothing to do with rythms.

making real beatmaps is hard but this game does not even try.
songs never increases in speed and the pattern you get are mostly random. for example, getting big pattern in the middle of a song restart / switch.

When playing the "word" challenge every word starting with the same letter gets triggered, meaning when you type really long words you also type a lot of word beginning as a by-product leaving you with typing jumbled crap afterwards. And once again not synced with the music.

achievement game, hot garbage !

3 Slug Wolf
3 Slug Wolf

Not a horrible game, but not a whole lot that it's offering either.

First the good.

1: The game is challenging. The way it works is that you have to press the letters/numbers on your keyboard as they appear on the screen, it gets progressively harder the more you get. The best that I was able to get was 738 on "words" mode.

2: It's not a pain to learn, so that's a plus.

...That's kinda...it? ...Ouch. I'll be honest, I was kinda throwing this game a bone with number two.

The bad.

1: If you're expecting the numbers/letters to pop up in tune with the music then you are going to be disappointed. I think most of the investment went into buying out the music for copyright reasons (which explains why there is only 6). It's a real shame that the promps don't pop up with the music's beet.

2: Music gets repetitive. If you're playing one mode to get the achievements, the music will get very dull after a while. 6 music tracks are in this game, one for each mode, if it was all in tune with the promps, I would be more forgiving. Instead it feels like the music was tacked on.

3: I beat the entire game in 1.7 hours. This includes unlocking all the modes, getting all card drops and completing all the achievements (they shoved in 300 achievements in the game XD). Not surprising that this is the case, but still rather disappointing.

4: The leader boards are broken. Not literally dysfunctional, but more like you are never getting to the top legitimately. There are 7 people at the top that all have the same score, and its 2 Million+!!!! The kicker is that there is no multiplier or combo system to beef up your score. So according to the game, 7 people manged to press keyboard promps 2 mil+ times all the while it gets progressively faster/harder. Why would anybody hack to get the top of the leader boards? Your guess is a good as mine, but unless you cheat too, your not getting to the top anytime soon :/.

5: No incentive to keep leveling beyond level 30. Why would you keep playing after that anyway? Beyond getting the rest of the achievements and card drops, there is no point. You unlock all the modes at level 25 and leveling happens very fast.

Despite having more cons than pros, the game was somewhat fun. But ultimately it's forgettable, sorry devs. If the asking price was down to maybe 2-5 dollars, I wouldn't be as harsh. But I got a coupon for this game at 90% off, so no harm on my wallet. I just won't be playing this again... ever. And because of that factor, I cannot recommend this game.
