Unique tower defense game. Lots of upgrades, items and enemies.
If you like tower defense games with a twist you will like this game.

Doge Star
Doge Star

Pretty entertaining tower defense style game. Stable, pretty, balanced, simple. Maybe not $10 good, but pick it up on sale. Good for lower end machines, works on my chromebooks, & even my RPI-3, sorta (running LFS; *uc* that chromeos *hi*)

Adeptus
Adeptus

Interesting game concept, kind of a tower defense but you are the runner defending yourself (someone said point defense earlier which hits it on the spot).

The game normally requires a couple of runs per delivery to optimise your build to get five stars (for the harder levels), but you can normally achieve that before it gets too repetitive. Progression on weapons / items etc is pretty good. Only thing is I wish the enemies were a bit randomised though as they always come the same directions; but I suppose that's what lets you plan and build on previous runs.

Overall, worth the price.

For anyone that wants more variety (i.e. different attacking directions and enemies), the sequel Space Run Galaxy will give you that. Although be warned, the concepts change a bit (e.g. no power as such).

This is a puzzle game where you have to figure what to put on the ship your are given on each level in order to finish it successfully. This is not a sandbox game.

That being said, there is a nice pace of progression, and there is not too much grind (at least where I am currently, about a dozen missions in). Plus you get to blast pirates and get taunted by an android that probably has the same humour module as C3PO when bits of your ship are blasted away. Visuals are nice although a bit cluttered.

Sounds are nice, even though the music is a bit repetitive.

Overall 4/5.

[Edit] Way too much grind. 3/5, would not recommend unless you want to play the same mission over and over again to gain enough money to buy upgrade.

It's like a tower defense in space but you protect lanes, very interesting lanes, and with very good graphics and awesome sound. Very well polished.

I love this game ;D
It is tower defend in a space ship theme.
You will be fun with upgrade and manage item to pass each stage.

SteelHorn

Good.

This is a variant of a Tower Defense. Mobile Platform you defend. The more enemy you destroy the more currency to buy better guns/defense/utilities.

Different Guns/laser/missiles
Different Shields/missile defense/repairs
Different Utilities /Power/Engines

Enemies are Asteroids/Ships/Dreadnaught/Time

More Engines, the faster you get there for better payout. Also you most protect Cargo.

Cargo. Stock/Passengers/Advance computers (The computers must be assembled and powered up mid level)

Graphics are good and smooth.

This is a Great game i wished had more levels. Simple and steady learning curve. Feels good to master.

NAY SA STRAIGHT AIRPORT

Fun take on TD. When my main character starts sounding like Illidan I know that Liam O'Brien has been in too many games.

Lots of clever original ideas. Hard to pin down in a genre. Difficulty ramps up hard near the end and I'm finding myself repeating earlier missions to grind credits. You'll want to memorize keyboard shortcuts to move faster (you can't issue commands while paused as far as I can tell), so speedy RTS skills will be rewarded.

Incendium
Incendium

I liked this game. A mix between tower defense, RTS and a puzzle (for optimal tower placement). The enemies comes on a repeating path, so when you restart you can learn the "perfect" setup and Balance risk/micro-management and economy. There is a linear upgrade of the different "towers" (engines, power, guns and shields) when you progress. So you can repeat old missions. And get a better score.

It's fun. It's a great puzzle. Sit there, watch some football (or futbol...or cricket or curling) and enjoy.

Fun little title, effectively a tower defence / wave management game. Grab it on sale, as you'll only really get ten to fifteen hours out of it.

surveyor4889

"Tower" type game, but the base is moving through space. Various asteroid, raiders pirates attack. Different power ups/abilities as you progress. I found it entertaining and challenging to make "5 star runs" on all levels.

"Time Burner". if you have kids, it's a yes if not, well. phone app imho. if it was free roam, sand box, it would be half way decent

Information / Review English

Space Run is a tactic & strategy game developed by Passtech Games.

Gameplay / Story

In Space Run Galaxy you should prove yourself as an intergalactic delivery hero and drive all sorts of stuff from one celestial body to another. In the extensive planetary systems you can accept orders from more or less dodgy characters and then load the delivery onto your spaceship. Your own spaceship, which is more reminiscent of a flying platform, consists of several hex fields on which you can place the cargo and later in the course of the transport mission you can build various (automatically firing) guns, drive units and support elements. So when I accept an order from a monkey with an affinity for genetic engineering and bananas, I select the flight route, place the cargo on board and start the transport. Only here does the actual game begin, which is reminiscent of tower defense.

My spaceship platform then flies from left to right through a linear jump gate corridor and can be attacked from almost all sides on this route. If pirates, parasites, other spaceships or even space monsters do not attack, there is a danger from asteroid falling rocks. Before these threats become acute, a circular warning with a countdown is displayed so that you can adjust your defenses accordingly.
The connecting routes between the planets are the levels that have to be completed with the transport platform.

Pro

+ modular expandable spaceship
+ many gun and turret combinations
+ some really good (English) speakers
+ good boss fights
+ Achievements and trading cards

Contra

- hardly any change; The game is repeated too much
- In places too hectic passages; no pause function
- Basically a bad story

Conclusion

Space Run has become a solid game that will keep you entertained for a few hours. Even if there is a lack of variety in space. I would buy the game on sale.

Information / Review Deutsch

Pro

+ modular ausbaubares Raumschiff
+ viele Geschütz- und Turm-Kombinationsmöglichkeiten
+ einige wirklich gute (englische) Sprecher
+ gute Bosskämpfe
+ Errungenschaften und Trading Cards

Kontra

- kaum Abwechslung; Spielgeschehen wiederholt sich zu stark
- stellenweise zu hektische Passagen; keine Pause- Funktion
- prinzipiell maue Story

Fazit

Space Run ist ein solides Spiel geworden das einige Stunden unterhält. Auch wenn es im Weltraum an Abwechslung fehlt. Ich würde das Spiel im Sale kaufen.

Mac players be warned, the game is 32bit. If you're using MacOS Catalina, it is no longer compatible.
While it's a good game, this game is not recommended for MacOS computers anymore.

This is the best tower defense game I have ever played. There is a good balance of strategy and upkeep during a run. Each run has a different shaped ship and different threats that make for an interesting and fresh puzzle.

I suggest giving this a try if you like sci-fi and tower defense. Even if you don't like tower defense you make like Space Run!

Yet another game afflicted by the Dev's pandemic: "We are afraid our game is boring!". And as such is it horrendously unbalanced, absurdly burdensome, and 'unplayably' hard.

Games that are 'Oh so close' to be good...are BAD games. And it is time we start giving them some thumbs-down!

It is tagged as a 'Tower Defense' game, but really this is closer to a base-building / base-defense game. And frankly, in all truth: This is only another RTS game where your only chance of success is to rush from an action to another without even thinking, just like a typical RTS chicken-with-no-head gameplay.

However, the difficulty level on this one is so bad that your turrets won't even 'pivot' on their own (!) True story: If you don't want to see your ship destroyed by an asteroid slowly approaching juuuust beside your turret, you have to manually go turn that stupid little thing, at least 45 degrees, otherwise you will gently lose...half of your ship!

That may look nice and dandy, but when you have 12 of those turrets and also boosters, shields, generators, etc., to take care of while being attacked from all sides, you need to be an Android to just be ABLE to play this game...Let alone enjoying it!

It also comes short on almost every aspects: Limited usable hexes space. No ship customization. No sandbox mode. Limited 'tower' types and just a few possible upgrades per 'tower' (which all require more power...which is a bummer when you are stuck on a pre-designed ship with no space to add more generators), etc. And even the voice-acting is limited beyond belief, as you will hear the SAME comments for the same few events in the game EACH time they happen! (Insert puking face here!)

Therefore I don't care if the game started with a great concept and is otherwise running quite well: A poorly developed game is NOT a good game!

And this one IS a bad game!

It is a fun and well designed game. I enjoyed taking my own path in upgrading systems. There are moments where I had to retry missions to get a good idea mapped out of what I should put and where. This is primarily applicable to missions I want to achieve 5 stars with. While I have not finished the game, I did complete 2 of the companies provided with 5 stars on each mission. I think in doing so, I ended up putting in 40 hours and getting a bit burned out. Would recommend to someone looking to play a fun tower or base defense game.

Welll this is another game that is OKish and you'll like or dislike it based on personal preference. I mainly went for not recommended due to the tags. It's not really a TD (oh and some ppl mention RTS, but it's definately not that). It's mainly about strategically placing your buildings on the limited space the game gives you. It is sort of a nice idea, but the game doesn't give you all that much room to play with. It also doesn't give you the option to change or increase the size of your craft. So it's more about the optimal placement and timing than playing around with the shape or different strategies. Better buildings need more space and turrets and thrusters also need a certain amount of free space. Hence the options are more limited than you might think. A lot of the time I was just unable to place the higher tier buildings due to their size & shape (and then I'm not mentioning powering them up) The cargo usually limits your options further (mainly by being annoying-though in a strategic way-is that even possible?). I would've loved a free run option where you just get a huge platform, or even better: the option to build your ship. But I'm afraid you're stuck with what the game gives you.

If you get it cheap it might be worth your while. If you're looking for a good TD you might want to continue your search.

Space Run, is a variation of Tower Defense game where you must build a ship capable of arriving on time, and blast through series of enemies while protecting your cargo. You get weapons, shields, disablers (ion cannons), thrusters (more speed!), and more. While the enemy wave doesn't change (as in any tower defense) how you react to each wave can affect how effective the next wave is. As enemies come from all directions (6, as it's based on hex grids) you eventually will have to build a LOT of weapons, but you can concentrate on one direction at a time. When you invest in upgrades, your weapon can be re-oirented, and/or weapons arc expanded so it can fire toward multiple threat vectors. The catch is can you build the right weapon at the right time?

Your income to build structures is measured in "hexnuts". You do get some just for passing the time, but you can get more from destroyed enemies, one hexnut from small ones, larger clusters from bigger enemies. As you collect them, you can build more structures with them.

Your final "score" is dependent on your delivery speed and the amount of cargo you delivered intact, and many enemies would be after your cargo, or just make sure you don't arrive. And if you managed to achieve "lightspeed delivery" (arrive within the "gold" time) you get 3X the credits. But usually that requires you to mount extra thrusters, which means fewer weapons or other stuff.

Most of your modules can be upgraded, and sometimes, activating the right powerup (with the right generator next to each) can be the difference between winning and losing. Powerup can vary from 30 seconds of double firing rate to double damage, ability to get double-thrust for limited time, or even no-thrust (special achievement and gain extra hexnuts for slow speed) depends on the module and the upgrade bought.

There's a story where each transport company gives you different "twists" on their shipments, some may be shipping volatile stuff, others may give you some experimental weapons, and so on. Some cargo can even affect your ship systems.

After you survive the run, you can spend the credits to upgrade your modules and/or unlock new modules which you can then use on your next run.

There are also 3 levels of difficulty that you can try, as well as extra modules you can build, or even design your own ship shapes.

The game was so good it got a sequel: Space Run Galaxy.

So definitely give it a try. It's not your standard tower defense.

Fun game but gets tedious after some time. I'd still say I got my money's worth, but the main issue I had with the game was that it was less a tower defense game and more a puzzle game. The locations the enemies come at you are not random, so getting 5 stars in a mission basically comes down to memorizing when and where the enemies arrive and building your cannons/shields in locations to deal with those enemies specifically. Which is fine, but when I play tower defense games I at least like the chance to, at some point, just make some massive defense array that can blow away anything that gets near it, and that isn't going to happen in this game.

I think this is a really solid game. I played it on stream with my love a few nights ago and we took turns doing the runs. It was really interesting seeing how we differ in play styles. I'm more a fly by the seat of her pants kinda gal and he's a very logical, need to think this out kinda dude. In conclusion, I think this can be played by anyone that likes these types of games and not feel like only a certain type of player can play.

Great game. Got it on sale but I would have paid the full price if I had known it was this good.
A fun mix of what feels like tower defense with a progression system.
Hilarious dialogue. A must play. I normally do not play this type of strategy game, but the game still hook me until the end.

Cons:
- Short game. Took 12 hours for me to finish the story and get all achievements.
- No additional gameplay outside of the main storyline and 3 different type of difficulty.

CleonHR
CleonHR

This is a very solid tower defense game. You transport things, and your goal is to bring your cargo undamaged to the other side of galaxy. Every run is one mission. One run can take from 2-3 minutes to 10-15 minutes, so you could easily call this game casual. You get main story quests, and then you get some side quests that you need to finish in order to be able to obtain some necessary equipment that you need for the main story. So basically you need to play everything.

So your ship is made of hexagon tiles, and you put on them cargo, and some defenses on the start. As you go through missions and kill enemies, you earn the money and you can spend it then quickly on more defenses. The more undamaged and quicker you finish the run, the more money you get for upgrades. There are many different upgrades that you can choose from in between missions.

And yo you go from small and simple ship to huge behemoths of ships where you can barely see what is going on on the screen let alone control the things :) For higher and heavier missions I had to play them few times to even understand what enemy are coming at me, and what kind of defenses would be most efficient against those enemies. You can also experiment and see what works best for you.

All in all, this game is good, you need to think fast and act even faster in order to make this runs, and there is some very thin story in the game, but it is still worth to buying and playing. I'm not so sure about DLC's, I didn't try them out, so that is your choice.

Arsonistic
Arsonistic

Game has a 60FPS-lock, no borderless window mode and no Anti-Aliasing. I injected SMAA using Reshade to solve the lack of AA(the game seems to be using OpenGL). Forcing MSAA through Nvidia/AMD drivers might work too.

A very mixed bag of good and bad, but this game ultimately falls on 2 big things:
- Grind: You get credits for every mission you complete, and the missions can be re-played for another set of credits. You often need parts/upgrades you don't have access to when first unlocking a mission just to 5-star(max) a mission. I dunno about you, but I don't play singleplayer Tower Defense/RTS games to grind...
- "Cock-up cascade": The game is very much structured around the principle of tiny mistakes leading to bigger ones, in a cascading fashion. Losing a part of your ship makes the rest of the mission harder to complete, not to mention that you probably will lose mission completion bonuses on top of that, further punishing small mistakes. This results in a gameplay that encourages restarting missions over and over, until everything works flawlessly.
These 2 negatives compound and makes the game feel like it's really wasting my time.

Pretty fun and about worth the $5 asking price. Wouldn't pay more than that for it but yeah, disable the in-game music, throw on some Mitch King, and enjoy some space trucking.

Neatly designed, challenging, open-ended fun

This here's one of those novel takes on tower defence games that isn't a gimmick, but is actually explored start to finish throughout a conceptually tight game. Basically, you put your towers on a ship that moves along a track from depot to destination, and protected by those towers in the centre of your ship is the cargo. You'll get cargo that has to be on the outside, cargo that will explode if damaged, and cargo that needs power, or randomly spawns more cargo all over the place. Your job is to balance speed, offence and defence to complete your delivery with all the cargo intact within a certain time limit. Along the way, at fixed positions for each delivery, are threats; sometimes asteroids, sometimes ships, sometimes entire boss fights that shut off your engines and force you to destroy them as fast as possible while protecting your cargo so as to be off about your way before the 5-star time limit is up. Basically it's a fantastic game that provides a serious challenge without ever being particularly unfair or overstaying its welcome. It's tight, concise, and achieves everything it sets out to do.

It only loses points because it's one of those tower defence games where you can't ever hope to 100% it without beating later levels and coming back overpowered to kick level 1-1's teeth in. Some people like that, I've always considered it a design flaw.

"When you google awesome, you get Spacerun" This is a fun and great tower defense. I would call it a gauntlet defense since you have to build towers and go through enemies. I'm surprised it's not more positive than it is. Great upgrades, fun story lines, cool art. You will have fun with this and get some chuckles too.

Difficulty is just a bit hard, but still doable. Enjoy

You cannot progress after you are about half way through as there is one necessary level that is bugged 'Asteroids on Steroids'. Many people online have the same issue (game crashes before the level ends) and it has been completely unresolved.

Space-run is way more a memory, micro-management and grinding game than a tower defense game.

You have many delivery missions to accomplish and depending on your speed and the state of your delivery packages, you get from 1 to 5 stars at the end of the mission. You also get money.

You can redo the mission any number of times to get more money each time, and possibly get more stars if you missed some stars in the previous runs.

There are many enemy waves during your delivery, and sometimes a boss. You don't know in advance all the waves, but it's mandatory to know their point of origin and path (and a bit their composition) to correctly position your towers.

So you have to do at least a run to memorize all the waves.

Then you'll also have to manually activate special powers on all your towers to maximize their efficiency, especially constantly reorient them in the enemy direction. The interface to do so is clunky, and it requires attention and being quick to do all that in an efficient manner.

So you'll have to do & re-do many times the runs to get 5 stars, which is required to unlock the towers' special powers : each requires a minimum total of stars to be buyable, in addition to money.

Overall, it gets incredibly grindy, tedious and repetitive.

I didn't like that much, but I tried to stick with the game which was ok as long as the runs lasted around 5 minutes and were finishable on the 1st run (even if only with 1 star).

Now I reached a state where the runs last 10 minutes and are not finishable on the 1st try because tower positioning can't be correctly done without knowing the waves in advance.

This is an intolerable game design, especially as I'm playing in the hard difficulty level (3 out of 3), but didn't have to use my brains to win so far and had 0 tactical or strategical challenges.

The game could have been saved by reloadable checkpoints during the run (which Defense Grid had in 2008) and having an active pause.

~ Pros ~

- Original presentation for a tower game
- Towers and their special powers are interesting enough

~ Cons ~

- Slow grind
- Repetitive memory game
- No strategical nor tactical challenge
- Requires way too much reflexes and micro-management

This is game is great. Doesn't take long to become engaged. Missions are ok to finish, but hard to finish 5 star. They did really well with the upgrade gadgets and the ability to deploy them. i.e. unlocking stuff doesn't make you godly. It's all trade-offs.

Giveaway pricing. Would play a sequel if they make one.

Space Run is easily one of the most unique games that I have ever played on PC. Combining tower defense with a puzzle game and an RTS makes for an interesting combination. Space Run sees you fitting larger and more complex weapon, defense, and storage tiles onto increasingly more massive ship hulls as you fight off wave after wave of pirates while trying to deliver cargo, nuclear waste, and rich tourists. The tower defense component of the game is engaging - it constantly keeps you on your toes as you switch modes/directions on you weapons as larger and larger threats come at you. Fitting all of your cargo/weapons/defense modules onto increasingly complex ship hulls is a challenging puzzle in itself. Doing all of this in realtime as you defend your ship and manage your resources is a fun that has not been replicated in any other title that I have come across to date. The game looks fine, sounds fine, and runs fine to boot. If you see this game and it feels even passingly interesting to you, I would recommend picking it up without any caveats.

Space-run is way more a memory and micro-management game than a tower defense game.
Only certain strategies work. OK game, but requires memorisation and clear pattern exploit. Some weapons and gadgets never used at all. Some weapons and gadgets are clearly OP to other and more useful. Grind at the beginning to level up the skills. No battlepause for planning, no manual zoom with scroll wheel.

This is a very, very good tower defense game!
There are lots of interesting quirks in gameplay including lots of space for optimization, interesting enemies, weapons, mission variety and bosses.
Also it does get very hectic at times (esp with bosses), so it's a lot of fun.

A great game for fans of clever tower defence that certainly brings something new to the genre. The later levels really shine as standalone puzzles with great payoff when you discover a ship configuration that works. The thrill of perfecting your design prevented any sense of grindiness.
