in the video and screenshots, you see the player swinging like spider man on cocaine..
in the real game, the rope is too loose, it break the swing, couldn't get past lvl 5, and its not because i'm bad, its because the physics of the rope is ok but not more, no double jump, the rope stay the exact same length until you release it..
also the graphics make me think like the playstation1, but i think its probably low to keep the frame rate up so the jumps doesn't lag
for a free game, would be good, but paying money for that? i'd recommend waiting for a big sale..

that other guy is trash. game is challenging and fun but will slowly drive you insane as you play. If you can't beat level 5 there's no hope for you

The game is surprisingly fun and requires a lot of skills to beat. Just a heads up though, if you can't beat level 5 then you're probably really bad at the game

The other guy is bad. Only took me about 10 tries on stage 5. Made it all the way to stage 8 or 9 before I got bored. Cool game tho

Not bad for a little experiment! Really took me a bit to fully grok why there was slack in the line, but once I understood the mechanic, it was fun to play with. Might benefit from a slightly-more-robust tutorial level, but very cool concept.

Game not for casual react streamers ( Forsen, Sodapoppin etc.) challenging but rewarding. Vivonez Ulul.

Struggle to believe the guy below even managed to start the game. From what I've played the price seems fair and whilst the graphics leave something to be desired the mechanics make for a pretty addictive game. Overall, pretty fun.

This could be amazing, the concept is really cool, but the rope physics are really jank and ruin the game for me,
the rope on certain swing 90% of the time freaks out and becomes super long and ruins your swing, if the dev makes the rope physics better and makes the game look better I would probably recommend it, plus the oculus app for some reason starts when ever I start the game

Finally beat the game after 9 hours. I think 6 of those were spent in the final level.
I had a whole bunch of fun. The graphics are ugly (and I made them even uglier so that my bad computer could give me the frame rate you need for the quick swinging in this game).

Additionally, there are only 20 levels, yet I can't say anything other than that I loved it.

This is one of those perfect games that have a very simple concept, and then just throw a bunch of difficult levels for the player to throw themselves at. If you touch the floor, you go back to the start. It's the kind of fast-paced skill play that made Super Meat boy a hit, and if you like that kind of game you'll love this.

post this review after beating level 20

not "speed swing", plenty of side swing.

hook machine about not to lose speed when start a swing is trash. and map design is worse, you can only grab on items dev allowed and do the only shithard route he offers.

speed only changed by swing and gravity, no direction move or camera input on air. the walking ability just let u jump off the platform u stand at start to gain speed, yeah where the speed of "speed swing" comes.

Well, I expected this game to be a bit closer to AOTTG, with any semblance on being able to actively change the length of the rope in both directions. The rope feels so unintuitive and clunky to try to work with, and really throws me off. I couldn't manage to enjoy the game primarily because of this, and even the slightest amount of rope length changing adds SO much to the intuitive sense of motion with the rope. I can't recommend it without this simple little change.

This game is super satisfying once you get the hang of it! Every swing is a little drip of dopamine and keeps you coming back.

Don't listen to those who say the swing is bugged or that it slows you down. The trick is that the swing length is set when you attach to a wall. So for the best outcome you should be moving parallel to where you are attaching, when you attach to it.

Overall this game is great for the price, and you definitely get your moneys worth!

I really like the game, I think it's actually pretty smart, the first few levels actually teach you that you need to think differently to finish these levels, but I think there should be a tutorial for beginners to teach them how to understand the mechanics and how to approach these levels.

but really good game overall.

Great concept, challenging, and fun. Speed Swing is a physics game where you use your momentum to swing from one object to another with a grappling hook to reach the goal. Movement is minimal as your air control is dependant on the angle of your swings, there is no air strafing or any form of air control with the WASD keys. There are 20 levels that increase in difficulty with complex swinging requirements and online leaderboards for the fastest level clear. Graphically the game isn't appealing and the menu can do with updated graphics and animations.

I would like to see a game like this in the future utilise the Source engine and adopt certain elements such as surfing off ramps and air strafing.

Played through level 4 then game crashed and wouldn't let me advance. erased game files, re-downloaded and now I can't even pass level one. The landing area is broken. Asked for help, no response.

This is a lovely little game that is more than worth the 5 dollars I spent. It is pretty short, it took me almost 6 hours to play through all 20 levels, but I've paid more for less time, so I'm not complaining too much. In every level, you have to jump off a platform using wasd, and then you move entirely using the grapple hook controlled by your mouse. The game has a simple but more than effective simulation of pendulum physics which you use to redirect your momentum as you fly through the various levels. If you have a basic understanding of pendulum physics, its pretty easy to to figure out where you need to grapple to traverse the level with ease (if you don't, the game might feel rather unintuitive). The hard part tends to be getting the right timing on throwing the grapple out and reeling it back in. But once you get that timing down and get into a flow, this game just feels great to play.

A short game - just a few hours from start to finish, with only 20 unique levels, but well worth a few dollars for the interesting gameplay. Fairly difficult as you go on, with the first 5 or 6 levels being relatively simple, and then ramping up in difficulty quite quickly from there. if you don't like getting frustrated, maybe give this one a miss, but mastering the game physics (or finding a cheesy solution to a troubling problem,) can be quite satisfying.

not too much replayability unless you're into leaderboards, but there are a few competitive entries to pit yourself against if you are, (with the first few places seeming functionally impossible if you ask me.)

all in all, I had a couple rage quits but enjoyed myself while playing, enjoyed watching other people suffer as I had suffered, and got an extra couple hours going back through the oevels to improve a bit on my times.

To be honest, this is some of the most fun I have had with a single game mechanic in a long time. Swinging in this game felt like it was easy enough to understand quickly but required a bit of work to master. If I have one gripe it would be with the textures that made the scale / distance of things a little hard to determine. Overall, a very fun experience worth the price.

Sinjin

Challenging, but really fun and satisfying! The controls are really smooth and not janky at all. Gives me the feeling I get when surfing in CSGO. Also pretty decent variety of scenery and music tracks for the price.

Cool Idea, poor execution. Maps are just not fun to play. No real variety, slow progression, difficult setups requiring precision timing... It just doesn't seem to get better. Only harder. Which might appeal to some I guess but its not rewarding at all. Just an endless grind of one boring map to the next, and for a game called "Speed Swing" it feels remarkably slow. If you want something like this that is actually fun, try Cyberhook. It's not released yet (at least not at the time of this review) but if you look online for a demo key it is a far better experience that will hopefully be fully available soon as a full game. Props to the developer here for trying and *almost* succeeding but it just doesn't land. For $5 it's not terrible, but at least for me it was not worth it.

Probably should be free for the product you are getting. As other reviewers pointed out, it is a cool idea but poorly executed.

Fun for about 10minutes then it gets hard for no reason out of nowhere. Thought it would be a game to chill to, just ended up getting frustrated. Maybe I need to grind speed swing

I thoroughly enjoyed this little game, in the same way as I enjoyed surfing in CS:S. Similar vibe. The game revolves entirely around a very grounded grappling mechanic. You don't have any air strafing, you don't have any rope length manipulation. You just have a rope, a thing it's stuck to, and your existing momentum. It feels unintuitive, but rewarding to master. It wasn't until I was over halfway through the game that I really, truly grasped how the movement works. Until that point, I thought I had figured it out several times, but every time the next level would throw me for a loop by requiring me to think about the momentum from a different angle.

It's a very direct, simple game. In a good way, in my opinion. It doesn't have any fluff, it just gives you a mechanic that you probably haven't dealt with in exactly this way before, and then gives you a series of tests so you can hone your skills with that mechanic.

As for the criticisms: There's very little art/visual design, it's a utilitarian pile of assets which is often ugly. The music is also distracting and unpleasant most of the time. The game is short, and could probably do with either "themed" sets of levels which would have more coherent art styles and gameplay themes. I'm imagining something like a "cave" set of levels where you're dealing with lots of claustrophobic, mazey, quick gameplay, as opposed to another set of levels which might revolve around massive jumps and big open levels, etc.

But for what it is (especially on sale for $2 as it was when I bought it), I enjoyed it!

a weaker man would've added air strafing, but this game is not for the weak
