it's an one hour to two hours story thing but for the 70 cents that i got that it was a good deal for 1.5 hrs

I 100% the game in an hour. The idea for this game was really good at least.

That is the best I can say about it.....

Controls are wonky and super delayed. Hitboxes feel off. Both not good for a puzzle jump & run.
Also game is super short. Finished it in about ~40 minutes. You can probably do it faster.

While the idea is interesting, i can't recommend this.

The game is definately NOT what you're expecting. This games is super easy, short and not worth the price.

HOWEVER.

The game inserts a very original and nice idea and I'm thumbing it up because I wanna see more games like this. More polished, better level designs, and everything.

I recommend this game if you've got a few bucks and a free hour, since that's all the time it took me to 100% this game. A fun, quirky concept, but extremely content-light.

Azarokkusu

Way too short, and the backwards mechanics don't translate well at all.

-Mechanics don't translate, you do little half hops on landing on an enemy which you can't actually do, which doesn't make sense if the game is meant to be getting played backwards. Also, the game gets (very slightly) harder as you go further back, so does that mean the base game actually got easier and easier as you continued?
-It took me about an hour (minus 5-10 minutes that I was afk) to beat the game AND get all the achievements.
-The game is way too easy, even in the later levels it barely gets more difficult.
Not really worth buying, even for $2.99. Sorry, guys.

nice idea...but its not fleshed out enough and charging 3 euros for it doesn't seem right. you'll get about half an hour of playing time without an community levels. there are other indie games that can deliver way more content with less money

Cool platformer where you run the levels in reverse. Gamepad support and level editor are also a plus.

Spoiler Alert is a nice little game and sort of refreshing. Basically, you are a chili pepper fighting aliens and what have you. However, you start at the end and work your way back through time to the beginning. Other than that, it's basically like Super Mario as far as gameplay, only you are obviously doing things in reverse, which often entials intentionally missing enemies and coins rather than trying to gather them. The very beginning (i.e. the end of the game) is kind fo funny and makes the hour long journey all worth it lol.

Very nice, game with seamless gameplay. Does what it sets out to do in stellar fashion.

The game itself was okay. You get what you pay for - good concept game and flash game. It took about 30-40 minutes to beat the game and unlock all the achieves.

The worst part of the game was waiting for the other 3 trading cards.

I'd recommend that if you are buying the game, pick it up in one of those summer or Christmas sales when it goes 75-90% or so.

ProtonsZero
ProtonsZero

I recommend this game, if you are or want one of the following:
1 - You like games made on flash, and plataformers even more so.
2 - A game with easy achievements to boost your "100%" list.
3 - Are going to gift this to a young kid.

It's silly, and it's not worth full price.
For some reason the jump button (the one of two buttons you will be using the most) sometimes felt irresponsive, the leaderboards and custom levels wouldn't load for me.
It feels poorly executed, like the order of the levels was backwards design wise, in a game that uses backwards design... that means, it uses linear design when it shouldn't.
It is a good, cute game, but all I see is a lot of wasted potential.
Trying to get gold on speedrun mode would be the one thing to make this game gain much more value, but without an achievement to go with it, you'll be ok with getting a bronze.

I don't know what time restraints (I feel like this would've been amazing for a game jam) or budget this game was made on but I feel like this could maybe develop an interesting sequel, if more time was spent on plot and design... Aaaand about 6 more worlds of content.

Do you like bad platformers with buggy jumps and broken hitboxes?
Then you're in luck, Spoiler Alert is your favorite kind of game... with a twist! (not an interesting one though, it has been done before and many times)

Complete with anoying music and ugly art, this one-trick-pony is closer to a retarded mule...

I guess you could pick it up for cheap or in a bundle though, this game is not all bad, after all the achievements are pretty easy to get and it will drop cards so there's that...

Get it only for two reasons: 1. It's on sale. 2. You just want another game that you can add to your list of 100% games, because you can easily do that in one sitting with this game.

The idea of the game is really great, but where it falls apart is the execution. Too many times levels need to be beaten by trial and error because the game apparently expects you to be able to tell the future. It also just didn't do enough with the idea it had. There could've been a lot of really cool story elements that would've been great to see backwards. Instead we get three completely disjointed worlds with themes that are given zero reason to exist in the same game.

It is a pretty good game, quite the weird one though. Not that hard either. Should add new levels, and make a normal as well as reverse. I bought this game for 79 cents instead of 8$. I reccomend buying it now if thinking about it.

I played this game for less than an hour and a half and aced it, I mean for its length and the fact that i payed less than a dollar to play it Id say whatever its good enough for what it is, a hardcore gimmick. If you want a super hardcore platformer dont get this game because other than like 3 near impossible jumps and things coming from off screen that you have to know about to avoid, there is no skill involved. If you want to 100% a game to look cool to your freinds tho its worth it.

AndroSphinx12

All in all the game is fairly short which is kind of its downfall. It has decent replayability with SpeedRun Mode but the only problem is you can only improve your time by so much and depending on how you play it may not take that long. I got about an hour and a half out of the main game and then played the SpeedRun version for about 30 minutes. I really like the concept of playing the game in reverse it kinda brings something new to the platformer genre. I could be wrong and there may very well be another game out there like this where you play it in reverse if someone reads this review and knows of a game with the same mechanic please inform me and I will update the review. I payed 0.79 cents for the game and to be honest I wasn't expecting to have as much fun as I did. I would rate the game a 8/10 because when I first made this review I did not see custom levels for the game now that more and more levels are being created the game has a decent amount of replayability.

CyberPhoeno

The game isn't bad, but it isn't good either. The concept of playing a game backwards is interesting but unfortunatly nothing else is done with this concept and the game gets boring quick. It takes about 30 mins to beat, probably a bit more if you want to get a gold in each level. Also the plot of the game is extremely predictable if you think backwards like the game does. If I didnt get it for $.80 I would have been more pissed than disappointed.

Let's begin with the positives:

The reverse mechanic in this game is cool. The platforming is fun. I felt the difficult ramped up at a slow boil, which is very nice and hard to come by in platformers which usually suffer from the "you know the mechanics, let's throw you into the shark den" syndrome. Music and graphics were decent. The powerup idea was cool. I had fun playing the game.

And now for the bad:

My biggest gripe I feel I should talk about is that the reverse game mechanic doesn't really push anything too much, it's simply that your character is moving from left to right, rather than right to left. If the screen were mirrored, this is little more than one of those runner games where you can't stop running, except that you have to hit specific objects throughout the level. Furthermore, this mechanic is not particularly unique either. To show this, I'd like to draw attention to a similar game that uses this function. Retro/grade is a rhythm based game with 10 levels in which the gimick is that you play the levels backwards and have to collect your bullets while dodging the enemy fire again. This game has mutliple levels of difficulty to choose from, and is even playable using a guitarhero/rockband guitar. This game released in 2012 (the steam version in 2013) a whole year before this game came out, and arguably used the reverse idea better.

Oh, and just a little gripe, logically speaking, the level order makes no sense. Imagine playing this game forward. Why would the more difficult boss fights and levels be in the first few worlds? Retro/grade suffers from this as well, but it has the excuse that it's a music game first, and a shooter second. This game only is a platformer.

Moving on, the rest of my complaints revolve around the games time and overall difficulty. I'll quickly just say that those decent graphics and music I mentioned earlier, were also very bland and forgetable. Oh, and getting a gold was annoying, not for the difficutly, but because if you made a mistake, you would have to quit out of the level and reenter from the level select. If the medal system is not implemented well (like in this game), then you shouldn't have a medal system.

To put it politely: This game is short. Really, really short. As in: I 100% beat (not just beat it, I beat everything, all achievements and the bonuses) the game in 46 minutes. That's outrageous. That means I'd have spent nearly a dollar for every 6 minutes of gameplay if I had payed the full price for the collector's edition. Now, the developer argues that it will lengthen the time with later updates and community-made levels, however this was said back in july of last year (so nearly a year at this point), and all we have to show for that is 60 community made levels. I understand these things take time, at that maybe there's a developers blog I could read, but purely based upon announcement updates for the game (which stopped is september of last year), this game seems to be floating dead in my steam library. Each levels lasts from about 3 to 10 seconds (with the longest I've ever taken on one being about 30 seconds), and some I played and asked myself 'That was so important that it deserved to be an entire level?'. To summarize as bluntly as possible: I've played flash games that took longer to beat (not 100%, I'm talking just beat the story) than this, and those are free.

To go back to what I said earlier, that this game's difficulty ramps up at a slow boil. I truly mean that, however it also is a detractor from the game as a whole, because the difficulty doesn't feel like it goes anywhere. I felt that the end of the game was only slightly more difficlut than the beginning, and by slightly I mean that it felt like I was jumping on one more enemy or collecting a couple more coins than I was in the beginning. Again, I'd like to harken to Retro/grade, and just look up one of the higher difficulty levels for that game. That is what I was hoping for when reaching the harder areas, but was not what I recieved. As I said earlier, I enjoy games that manage to do a slow boil well, but this needs more levels in order to reach the same potency that other games use this mechanic with. Without getting more difficult, it feels like the game is more of babying the player than gradually introducing them to the difficulty.

It's not like these problems are difficult to fix. Here, let me give an idea to the developer, free of charge. How about a mode where you play levels in forwards after you've beaten the main story? It would easily a) double gameplay time, b) could be challenging because you'd still have to remember what you had done for the level going in reverse, and c) truly give the title Spoiler Alert a stronger meaning, as it would be like "Spoiler alert! You'll have to remember this all because you'll be doing it all again later". In addition, you could give something like an alternate "ending" to those who manage to complete this mode, or just an achievement. I do warn people this was just an idea, and would not 100% resolve all my gripes with the game, just alievate them a little.

Would I be able to recommend this game if the developers added more content? That's solely dependant on whether or not they truly fix the issues I mentioned, which, in order of importance, are:
1) More levels. You know what you have? (90 levels w/ 3 bosses + 10 bonus) Try doubling it, and then we can talk about whether or not it's worth 8 bucks.
2) Make the new levels harder. The mechanics are easy, we don't need babysitting at every step.
3) More powerups. That's the one thing I can't really fault about this game, so more of that.
4) Add a way to restart the level without having to quit out of the game to the level select and back to the level, I had to do this way too often when trying to get gold in levels.
5) More impressive music.
6) Lower the price of the collector's edition. This game is currently not worth $8.00 for the addition of the level editor (which the developer himself said was necesary for the survival of the game in the future) and the soundtrack and bonus content.

Final comments:
The game is fun at times, but is too short, not hard enough, forgetable, and has been silent for a year for promised updates to the game, thus rendering me unable to recommend this game. If you truly want a fun game that explores the mechanic of backwards gameplay, and enjoy listening to some awesome music at the same time, check out Retro/grade. Either way, don't buy this game until more content has been created (and I truly mean a lot more content).

Also, just a warning to future developers: If your game is fun, like this one is at times, and you truly want people to recommend it in the future, make sure to start out with a lot of content, and not that you hope to add more in the future. Or, if you do want to release it early without a ton of content, make sure your game is early access.

Great game! Levels may be pretty short but still fun to play. I don't recommend buying this game on full price, just wait for a sale and then buy it.

Spoiler Alert is a very fun little game that lasts about an hour. I can recommend this game *IF* you buy it on sale. I got the special edition for like 50 cents, and you get several digital artbooks, the soundtrack (which is actually pretty good), some wallpapers, and the original "prototype" of the game. Overall the Collector's Edition is a good way to go and I was happy with my purchase, just wait until it's a dollar or less.

Summary:

In the end, I would not recommend Spoiler Alert. There is not enough variety to keep it entertaining for all 100 levels and the one gimmick will get old. The lack of proper settings is also a downside that Spoiler Alert suffers. The easy and repetitive levels make it a game that is not worth your time or money.

The Good:

Level Editor. The game has a built in level editor. You can use any item or platform from the game and then upload it the game's Steam Workshop!
Solid controls. Spoiler Alert can be played by using a controller or keyboard and mouse, both have very solid controls.
SpeedRunner mode. A mode where you can replay levels in order to try and get better times. It's a nice feature.
Achievements. Spoiler alert includes 10 achievements. All of them are relatively easy to get, making it good for completionists or people who just like to get 100% achievements in games.
The price. The $2.99 price tag is a fair price for the game. The game can also be found in some game bundles. It also goes on sale here on Steam and on other sites.
The graphics. The hand drawn, flash style graphics are very colorful and suit the tone of the game very nicely.

The Bad:

One gimmick. The game only has one main idea / gimmick in it: playing the game backwards (and avoiding time paradoxes). This gets old far before the end (start?) of the game. It was a good concept, but needed more in order to make it fun for the entire story.
Short, easy, repetitive levels. All of the levels included in Spoiler Alert, including the boss levels, are incredibly short. They take a minute or two to beat, depending on if you mess up or not. However, you probably won't mess up since the levels are very easy as well, repeating the same functions as other levels.
No replay value. There is only one way to do each level. Once the levels are done there is pretty much no point in playing them again.
Easy boss battles. I get that making concepts for boss battles that go backwards to quite challenging, but the bosses in Spoiler Alert are way too easy. The boss battle for the first (last?) world only consists of jumping on the head of the boss a few times.
No resolution options. Screen resolution options really should be included in a PC game, even if it's a simple indie game. There is a fullscreen option, however if you play in windowed you are locked in an oddly sized window.

First of all, it's never worked on Linux (Ubuntu) for me. The developers are just out of their league. They don't understand how Steam works and won't fix it. You can check this on the forums, just query "Linux" ...

Second, It's one hour game. Yes, you are going to buy a game that will take you 30' to finish it and then probable another 10' if you want to finish the bonus section. Will you recommend a game like that? Only on very special cases, and Spoiler Alert is not one of them. Maybe it'll take you more if you want to finish all its level with 3 starts ...

if it is just one dollar and you don't have anything to play then you try it, otherwise I strongly recommend you to buy something else. There are plenty of games that costs the same and give you more in return, specially during sales.

Minoru

On the originality part, I really liked this game concept: Replaying a platform game in reverse, with things to do or not to depending on the state of the different objects: For instance, you need to jump on a dead enemy but you do not need and in fact should not jump on an alive enemy. If you do otherwise, then you need to do the whole level from start due to a "time paradox": It would be kinda strange to have, when you play a platform game, invisible coins that would turn visible when touched, right?

The music is present the whole game and is neither intrusive nor impressive. The thing I remember the most about this game sound effects is the kinda reversed sound that plays when you get a coin. So overall, the sound aspect is not memorable but add to the game response feeling.

The graphics are kinda cartoon-like and simple and I really enjoyed them. The only thing I would complain about is that there are only a few different sprites but why this is will be seen more in depth after. The animations are smooth.

Now on the gameplay side. Even though the game is enjoyable, there are some dark sides that taint it in my opinion: Sadly, the game is so that you have only one possibility to complete the levels: The devs have decided on one path, one moment to jump or press Z (special powers), this is to say, they decided exactly which pieces are invisible and which enemies are dead. Between this and the length of one level (between 5 and 20 seconds depending on the level), the game falls a bit short and sadly, the level design is really simple which can make it quite repetitive at the end of the 100 levels.

It includes 10 bonus levels and a speedrun mode (You just play the game again without it asking you to press 'Z' when you finish a level.

Collector's edition includes a level editor.

I think 3 extra dollars for the level editor and some external to the game content is quite expensive. Therefore, if you plan on buying the game and do not expressely plan on creating new levels, buy Standard edition.
Consider buying when on sale.

Great Idea
could have been longer and better

its simple and fun
but the medal system is pretty meh
its not about collecting things
its about winning with less deaths
which you can easily pass by just restarting the level again

you play a game backwards
kinda confusing at first
but its actually really easy
jump, uncollect coins, jump on dead enemies, dodge alive enemies, undo attacks
it plays like a mobile game
you run automatically

thats it
thats the game

for the price it has i will give it a
6/10
really worth it on sale
fun little game

Spoiler Alert

Spoiler Alert is a game about playing the game from finish to start.
The aim is to "unkill" enemys and "uncollect" previous collected coins, failing to do so causes a paradox.
Overall, most jumps are to easy, some are to hard.
The map Editor is a mess.

Overall/TL;DR

unbalanced gameplay equiped with a horrible Level Editor, not recommended

The next game would be called "Royaler Apert".

Story line: Chili Pepper Knight kidnaps Princess Tomato, but luckily, a plumber is here to bring back Princess Tomato!

Character: You are a plumber!

Goal: Defeat Chili Pepper Knight and save Princess Tomato.

Level Order:

1. World 1: Gnome Forest, Level order: 1-30, Boss: Mr. Deathbunny
2. World 2: Penguin Snowland, Level order: 1-30, Boss: Big Bad Squid
3. World 3: Alien Wasteland, Level order: 1-30, Boss: Lucky Jack the invader
4. World 4: Chili Pepper Knight's lair, Level order: 1-30, Final Boss: Chili Pepper Knight

Everything is normal (not reversed), all of the levels are mirrored, same stuff as Spoiler Alert, level editor, more achievements, more Steam Tading Cards, speedrunner mode, serious edition.

This. Game. I don't know how to explain it very well... Basically you play the final level, which is the beginning of the game, going through the first level, and the rest of the game backwards, messing with your head. It is a quick, challenging, cheap game that I recommend getting, very original.

While there are some interesting ideas presented in the game, the set jump height and inability to alter your movement speed makes many of the puzzles much more frustrating than they need to be. The story is also lacking, with everything being fairly plain from the start without any real twists on how it developes. Despite what is implied by the title, the game also follows the same format as most other platformers, starting with the idyllic green area and moving toward darker and more ruined landscapes. Overall, there is a lot of potential for this type of game, but this particular one did not deliver on what I wanted or expected.

Unfortunatly despite the unique idea this is a game better left alone. I commend the developers on creativity but it loses it's charm in about 10 - 15 minuits, not to mention the fact cheap deaths are far too frequent and only become more frequent as you approach compleation. The game is at no point really fun or satisfying and your hit box being the size of a small island certainly dosn't help the situation. In fact the only thing resembling satisfaction to be found is in the uninspired sound effects that chime when you kill an enemy... which of course results in an immidiate game over do to the nature of the game. all in all I'd say avoid this one at any price.

Techbane #FreeHK

It's a great premise. The premise holds water for maybe the length of the first world (that you play).

Beyond that point the game becomes an increasingly aggravating series of mechanics and enemies with progressively tighter and tighter windows for you to jump on/over, and increasingly nonexistent telegraphs to prompt your jumps. One level requires an almost pixel-perfect jump over an enemy situated unnecessarily high up. Another requires you to jump the INSTANT you have control of your character or you'll fail the first jump of the level. One enemy type is introduced with a very tight movement pattern that it later defies entirely in the name of screwing you over in the dickiest way possible. And to cap it all off, the brilliant mechanic by which the game grades your performance is number of deaths since you entered the level -- which resets each time you back out to the menu. So if you care about your level grades, just waste a few seconds backing out to the menu after each death rather than attempting to run the level deathless twice in a row.

At no point did I feel like the rising difficulty was an entertaining challenge, nor did it feel satisfying to overcome it. It felt like hollow, petty revenge, as if I were punching an old school bully in the face.

This game is very successful at being a cautionary tale of why a time-reversed platformer doesn't fucking work, if nothing else.

I liked the concept of this game but the game itself is very easy and quick to finish and there isn't really any challenge to it. It's also very easy to get gold on every level since you can just restart the level and try again.

On the plus side, the ending (or should I say beginning?) did make me laugh!

Its a short new concept for a 2D platformer. Try it but it is really short...less than 1 hour to finish the game.

Nitaire

Yeah it's an alright game but I regret my purchase, whatever price I paid is worth it if I can get at least 1 hours content from the story alone. This games story did not do this for me.

I can't even recommend this as a platformer because in the story you are more or less told which way to platform and that's fine but making me undo things I didn't collect is an annoying concept, I strive for collecting all and I see this character going back missing half the stuff for the sake of what, challenge? Not for me personally but this is just an opinion based review here, nothing I've said reflects how much you'll enjoy the game (or won't) and my advice is get it on sale only. Not speaking for the level editor or player made levels as I feel a story is more than 100 words which this sadly is not.

I guess you get what you pay for, but this 1-2 hour experience still made me feel like i overpayed.

Cool concept, but the game would have been much better with more levels and if the controls got worked on a bit. (They feel very floaty. You can get used to it, but it was still a little irratating.)

Wonderful game idea, fun to play.
Some here wrote the game is too short and some wrote the game mechanic get's dull after a while.

I say the game mechanic is fun for as long as the game lasts but would get dull if the game would bw longer. So a great short game for a fair price per play time.

Harm.
Harm.

While the concept of the game was interesting and the art is nice, the game itself does not give alot of content for the price. The game is too easy and the music/gameplay get very repetitive after a few minutes.

Spoiler Alert is an ideal game to sit back and relax.
It's fun, casual, refreshing (with its gameplay in reverse) and extra enjoyable if you like going for achievements!
It's, however, a very short game. So expect to finish within the hour.

A pretty cool concept, but sometimes the controls don't respond. Breaks the brain a little as everything goes backwards. Avoiding time paradoxes is hard due to the lack of controller response. Graphics and music are nice though. Fun little time waster.

A Very Nice Reverse Platformer and, as a Game Design Enthusiast I think it's a very Nice concept.
It's far more forgiving and relaxed than games like Unfair Mario but uses a similar artstyle.
I would recommend anyone to play this game if you're a fan of funny things and platformers.

There is a reason why the game is super short, just 3 Worlds, with 30 levels in Each, and I'd only recommend buying it on a good 50% plus sale.
I just streamed it with my discord community and it was really entertaining for us all.

Might make you rage a bit.
But it's part of the overall Charm.

It's a fun experience, but don't expect a great game, tho. Spoiler Alert is a fun concept implemented in a funny and short story. I would reccomend to buy it only with a discount, since I don't think it's worth it's full price.

This game is harmless. The idea is interesting, but underutilized. the enemies are simple, but fiddly. The levels have neat mechanics, but doesn't take advantage of them. It's all 6/10, okay, but not great.

But hey, at least it has a level editor.

Very short (about half an hour) and fun platforming game. Your character moves on its own and you have to jump on obstacles or over them as needed at the right time. Game isn't difficult. Plot twist was really funny.

Fun little platformer game with interesting concept. All 100 levels are very short and can be repeated anytime, if you don't get gold star score at first attempt. Whole game can be completed in 60 minutes.
Easy achievements and cheap trading cards, all this for sale price 0,41€. Why not?

A storm of WTF in the beginning, some laughter in between.
All in all a quick fun platformer for anyone!

Interesting concept executed more poorly than I would've liked, but surprisingly hard at some points and a decent game for wasting half an hour. There is a lot of input lag and hitbox issues, and it's not made for mouse and keyboard. 6/10, buy on sale.

This game is amazing

Me and my pregnant wife of triplets played this game in our free time
while she was in labor i wasnt even interested in sex anymore because this game distracted me so much and affected my life decicions alot. my wife tried to break up with me because i played this too much (12k hours) and forced me to delete my steam account with the hours on it or else she wouldve broken up with me.

But i am secretly playing this game when i am at my boyfriends house on his computer that is very sticky.
I now have not that many hours and if my hours don't go up that means i got caught by my wife that is pregnant

When i play with my boyfriend that i like very much (bisexual here btw!) we do strange things together after in bed
Something not related to the game.

The game makes our hormones go up by a ton and makes our adult life way better.

So if you want to consider buying this game plus it has a discount right now so it is even better now
I would really consider buying this game and playing it because it made me found the love of my life and break up with my wife that i have 5 kids with i only have 1 kid now and that is the eldest because he is above the age of 18 and bisexual too
so he relates to me and my boyfriend so we have alot of adult time us 3 every night.

And now we all 3 play it everyday non stop we even adopted a kid!

My boyfriend has a playtime of 12k (Steam : Smokey (a girl with blood eyes pfp)
My eldest son does some weird things when i dont let him play because it is really getting out of hand because he is very addicted to this very good game
He even punched me on my privates alot when we were in bed doing naughty stuff so i think this game gives alot of kink for u and ur partner in bed

If you think it is weird please dont read my review or hate against it

The concept is fun but the game is short and the challenge is nearly non-existent, would recommend it if you wanna try a fun platformer game and finish it in the next 45 minutes.

I can't even get past the first jump. I got frustrated after trying to make the one jump over and over so many times I wanted to throw my computer across the room. I'm not wasting any more time on this game.

It's weird how it gets easier as time goes on... in all seriousness, this is a really freaking short game that's kinda mediocre but not really
