Pros - The mechanics themselves are well done, but the art style definitely gives it an edge against its competition. In addition to what feels like a quality classic dungeon crawler my favorite feature is probably the magic system. The only other rune based magic system I enjoyed came from OrbusVR, but this works a lot better in its initial release as spell recognition is a lot more consistent and reliable. Lastly while the magic system is versatile , the game makes sure to put you into situations where you have to find balance between your sword and mage play, so you're encouraged to play like a battle-mage where you can't just spam one or the other.

Cons - The melee combat system could be more elaborate mechanically and visually. The game also could use more casual physical interactions to develop a deeper sense of immersion.

Definitely give it a shot! I'll continue to update this post as I play more of the game.

One of the best VR Experiences I've found, the game doesn't try to be something it's not. It feels like an Old School Retro modernized and made to immerse you.

There are always small things with new games that need improvements, but with this game it's more of just QoL fixes, for example the Fire Places are extremely Loud and not connected to the Audio Settings, even with everything at the lowest and only Dialogue Volume up it still over powers the Dialogue Audio I've experienced, as well as the Crypt that you're sent into by Friar Lyle, the end boss has Whispers that are also extremely loud not connected to Audio Settings, if it went away when you killed him it would not only be a QoL fix but improve Immersion.

This game at first feels like it has one direction, a set path that you are supposed to follow but the more I played the more I felt the map felt more Open World. You can go this way, that way or even cut straight through and fight some monsters. The Dungeons are set paths but outside of the Dungeons if the Map was a little bigger this game would actually feel like it would need a Fast Travel System but with the current size it's perfect just to hop around with Spells and what not.

The immersion really hit me when I entered F'ZuhNuh Temple, I don't want to spoil to much but Wow! When you walk in the first time I don't know how to explain it other then I felt small. The graphics are well done for what it's trying to do as well as being easy on the eyes. The Characters are well done and feel like they interact with you, which also means the Voice acting is good too, it does a good job of making you not feel alone.

The boss fights are Difficult the first couple times, it's easy to get over whelmed by Adds but taking your time and not standing still is your best friend. They provide enough Potions to really get the job done in a lot of situations and once you get a few spells under your belt the game actually flows really well and there are tons of play styles. Overall I would give this game an easy 8.5/10 almost a 9.

Definitely excited to see what else the game has in store as well as see what the Developer has next! For $10 this is a STEAL compared to some of the games you find, not sure how long the story is but will come back and finish this review when it's all wrapped up. :)

I got this game for two reasons:
1) I used to play Heretic and Hexen so the art style really appealed to me
2) Gesture based magic in VR is the tits

So far, this game delivers. It's not perfect! The directional sound is really wonky for me. It sounds like enemies are right next to me when they're actually across the room quite frequently, for one. The melee combat kind of floaty and there's very little to it.
However, the magic is the star of the show. Every magic effect feels good. The magical sound effects are crunchy and powerful, and they look and feel good too. Can't wait to play more of this. Keep up the good work, dev!

Straightforward & Fun!

-Beautiful game in a charming retro style.
-Freely explore a small but exciting open-world island.
-Gameplay is fun, and with the extensive arena combat, there are plenty of opportunities to practice your battlemage skills!
-Lots of comfort and gameplay options to customize in-game.

There is also a Garage Collective discord channel for connecting with the devs :)

Considering the competition I think this is fairly good. it's pretty seducing to see old school AD in VR, however I wish the pixel art can be improved and the terrain had more details ( btw those rabbits are huge! ).
I like the spell system a lot, the combat is simple but efficient , maybe need some tweaking with the hitbox.
I had a small bug where I got slightly offset from my character collision box, quite a common bug in VR,hopefully shouldn't be too hard to fix ( maybe completely avoid player to go thorough wall ).

I'm curious to see how much more content will be added, it would be very exciting to have a real open world ( even more exciting to see randomly generated loot and dungeons ), but i'm not sure if it is the dev intention.
