I'm going to give this a very soft yes, but at a discount, not full price. Supraland is a decent enough puzzle game, but it feels like it's unsure if it wants to be a generic hack and slash or the former at times.

I wish there was less combat so the puzzles can really shine, or at the very least, have more unique "combos" for the combat that requires out of the box think. Right now, the run and gun of the combat takes away from the calmness of the puzzle, and vice-versa.

Personally, I could see this improved by having more diagonal scaling in battle. Instead of gun or sword, it'd had been far more interesting if, for example, the stomp boots damage and radius was instead based on height, so you will try to use the grapple to fling yourself higher to do more damage. Or, enemies take a while to reoriented themselves and flanks to higher damage, so you can teleport behind them and attack for more damage. Maybe different colored bullets does more different combat effect, so shooting through purple lines gives bounce or something.

That would make all the puzzle elements constant without breaking them up with a different fight mechanic.

6/10

Also: DLC isn't really worth it, in my opinion.

Excellent game. Puzzles are fun, nothing that will have you pulling your hair out, and nothing tedious. Well worth the price, highly recommend. Perfect 5/7 experience!

Supraland is a great game that i can best sum up as Portal meets Mario 64. Exploration is the name of the game here, if it looks like you can get there more than likely you can and will be rewarded for it too. Puzzles are simple enough to not drive you insane and complex enough to feel that sense of accomplishment when you figure it out. As you progress you'll unlock new tools to that will open up new paths you might have seen before but couldn't open or traverse. The tools and how you use them is really creative, nothing in this game is generic... Except the combat.

My one issue with Supraland is the combat, its OG minecraft sword fighting and ranged bows, nothing feels good to shoot or hit. I get wanting to give more rewards and fill in the gaps between puzzles, but having to explore an area and constant hearing the "ENEMY ALERTED!" sound gets annoying fast. Its one demerit and im willing to admit its a personal issue, but i would have liked the same creativity in the combat as in the puzzles.

All in all, Supraland is fantastic for the price, and I look forward to playing the sequel as well as more from this dev. 100% a buy if you're interested.

The genre of 3D Metroidvania feels like such an untapped goldmine of possibility, and I'm glad a game like Supraland exists to scratch that itch.

Supraland is a surprisingly fun and addicting game with a unique and colorful art style and world, interesting and satisfying puzzles, exploration that feels rewarding with lots of hidden goodies, and unique set of power-ups and gadgets to unlock as you progress. The combat is the weakest element of the game being fairly simplistic and could definitely be improved, but it is serviceable enough and thankfully is not the main focus of the game.

Supraland is a great game and is well worth the dozen or so hours you'll put into a play through.

This game is good, but the puzzles are really stupid. if you want to play it, i recommend using the puzzle hints guide in your shift tab menu, and even then it still takes a while to get it. i haven't played crash yet, but i will update my review when i do

well, im updating to say that i no longer want to play this game or crash.

I really liked Supraland. This game is a peculiar combination of things I really enjoy, and I found the aesthetic charming in its cheesiness. Did you see that pie chart in the description? The one that says 40% exploration, 40% puzzles, 20% fighting? That's pretty spot on. Even though it doesn't look like it, this game is very much a Metroidvania, and a pretty well-crafted one at that.

You'll be walking around, exploring a strange world that's clearly made of stuff you'd find in a house with a garden, except, well, you're tiny. There are enemies to fight, and while they're not very challenging, they're no pushovers either. Still, combat is something that you do to spice up the exploration, while you look for more doors to open, more puzzles to solve, more tools to open more doors; and, of course, find hidden treasures, collectible power-ups and... hats?

The main charm here is just how wonderful the world is. I don't know, there's just something cosy about it. There's even a story which doesn't treat itself too seriously. And the small interactions with NPCs all over are also quite pleasant and humorous, even if they're a little high on pop culture references; I don't particularly like those - I don't think they are funny and they're bound to get dated, but I certainly laughed when I saw cooking crystal meth.

Oh, and make no mistake. This isn't a kid's game. As in, the difficulty of puzzles is non-trivial, and platforming requires quite high precision - especially if you're the kind of player who wants to climb everything to see if the game allows you to. And yes, the game allows and even expects you to go into all sort of places which normally would be out-of-bounds. It's great.

And the cherry on top is the credits song - it's a jazzy tune that's performed by the developer himself. It's in German, but no worries if you don't understand - it doesn't exactly spill some hidden lore of the world; it does refer to a certain late-game story point, but that's about it. It's just a nice piece of music which I often find myself listening to.

Any complaints? Well, I did get stuck once or twice, and the fury I felt at missing the freaking jump for the 453th time... oh, and even though I said that the game expects you to enter all kinds of crazy places, some crazy places are, sadly, covered by invisible walls. Or completely empty. I found that a bit contrarian to what the design tried to teach me. But everything else was fun and I can't stay mad at this game.

The best part? It's mostly an one-man project. I think only the models and textures were made by someone else, otherwise it was just one guy. Gut gemacht, Brudi! As for you, dear reader, enjoy - Supraland really is something else.

Supraland is a great game and the Supraland Crash DLC is great, too. Makes really good use of the mechanics and ensures that things stay fresh by adding new capabilities and new combinations. I really love the way that previously inaccessible parts of the map become accessible as you gain more skills and more capabilities. The game really rewards exploration and generally lets you have fun playing with the mechanics and puzzles at your own pace. There were a few spots where I got stuck or found it annoyingly difficult, but even so, I had a lot of fun and highly recommend it.

If you're not sure, the demo does a really good job of showing you what the game is like. It's fun in its own right, quite long for a demo, and if you buy the full game, you can continue from where you left off with no issues.

I take this kind of game kind of slow because I love trying all the things and looking in all the nooks and crannies. I spent about 74 hours on the main game probably a year ago and then 32 on the DLC over the last few weeks. If you're not interested in being a completionist, or if you just like to go faster, I'm sure it would take a lot less time, but either way, there's a lot of fun things packed into this game. I'm looking forward to playing the sequel (Supraland: Six Inches Under).

The aesthetic is incredibly charming.

But I found the platforming controls too unforgiving, the combat too meh, and most importantly a total lack of direction on what to do next, or even where to go, in large open world sections. Not worth the frustration.

I can't say enough good things about this game. The description of Toy Story meets Zelda meets Metroid meets Portal is as accurate as you can get. I loved the exploration and the puzzles were challenging, but not to the point of frustration, just to the point when you figure it out, it feels great. For areas where you get stuck, the online community is helpful with non spoiling hints that give you just enough to work out the rest on your own. I also liked how often I could see how you were "supposed to" do certain things, but was able to get it to work a different way with a little creativity/luck. I ended up spending more time than I needed to in the areas just playing around with the gadgets and the physics of the world.

In short: You should get this game

elkaki123

The exploration combined with the puzzles made a great experience, this game makes it a joy to figure things out and the fact that it is a metroidvania and so when you unlock new abilities you remember places where you had already been to and come back to solve those.
It is great how little it helds your hand, the game does not underestimate your capacities, not mechanically and not in intellect. It was really awesome.

It's not a bad game, just pretty simple for a puzzle game, pretty easy for an action game, and the jokes are good, but get old fast.

Supraland is a charming 1st-person Metroidvania that's suitable for all ages. It barely holds your hand for you as you charge through this well-designed map full of puzzles, knowledge gates, and upgrade barriers. If you liked Portal and the Metroid Prime games, this game will be right up your alley

One of the very few games that kept me smiling throughout the entire journey. Puzzles don't make you feel completely helpless and the sense of progress your character makes over the entire period of the game always has meaning. The humor instilled in all the little quips the NPCs make is also worth mentioning, to add to that, it also acts as a way to push the player forward to their next objective.

The only low point I would mention is the combat, while it can be trivialized with upgrades, it takes awhile to get to that point. Still, overall it didn't get too annoying.

Highly recommend anyone who enjoys zelda like adventures to give this a try! Looking forward to the next Supraland entry.

Pff... It's far too clever for me, I have enough and prefer to give up rather than go Youtube for solutions..

At a certain point (the third part of the game), the puzzles involve too much different elements and mechanics for my brain.

I don't like the game but I can't deny it's a pretty good puzzle-metroidvania game if you're in the genre. Hence the thumb up.

But if you're not in the puzzle thing and are seduced by the graphics (like I was), you should think twice before purchasing it.

A short and fun love letter to the Zelda/Metroidvania genre. Lighthearted and funny, but not exactly the most exciting game. Nevertheless it's well worth your time and the fiendish puzzle design will keep you scratching your head!

This is the first time I've 100% completed a game since I was a teenager. This game lets you re-live that feeling that Portal 1/2 gave you all those years ago. Toss in metroidvania aspects, hilarious dialogue, and fun as F gameplay - she's a masterpiece.

taylorbowker

A lot of unique puzzles with great graphics, funny ideas and comments, and a lot of content and exploration especially for the price. The game doesn't offer much aside from the exploration and puzzles (ie combat, story, etc) which got repetitive for me but I think that is just the genre.

Such an awesome puzzle game, absolutely loved every second I spent on this. The devs did a tremendous job. The puzzles aren't too hard and are actually very satisfying to complete, the exploration is a lot of fun and the traversal movement is a really nice touch. The combat can be a little wonky and annoying at times, and killing enemies just seems to be a filler.

Overall, absolutely recommend this game if you enjoy exploration/puzzle games. If you enjoy combat and have no sense of exploring, skip this. But definitely worth a try.

An incredible fun and addictive FPS-metroidvania. I didn't think I'd like it that much, but platforming is incredibly rewarding snappy and just feels so satisfying. The combat is pretty good too. The one real thing to keep in mind is the platforming feels better on a controller, while the combat is far more accurate on KB+mouse (and the inverse of those is true). But at the end of the day, a ~20hr metroidvania game paired with a well valued-discounted price is an amazing deal.

Really fun game, plenty to do/explore especially if you're a completionist. Only major complaint is some of the puzzles are a little too "creative" for me and when I found the solution it felt like I didn't have full knowledge of what was possible in game. If you like thinking outside the box you'll love this game.

I got this game for free on Epic. "Hmm, I'll actually try this one", I was thinking. And then it absolutely shocked me how good and well-designed it was; surely one of the most intelligently made game I played in recent years. I couldn't even count the instances when something half-crazy occurred to me to try and I thought "wow, that would be so cool, but surely they didn't implement it", and then I found that they actually DID think about it. And the number of secrets everywhere that often give you a strong feeling of reward. Absolutely insane... So I went ahead and bought all Supraland games on Steam during the summer sale.

The pacing and progression are also nearly perfect, you always have plenty of things to do, and rarely find yourself being stuck at a single puzzle. Despite the locked gates, etc., Supraland has a strong open world feel to it. The game empowers you, and you can utilize your creativity and your tools to solve puzzles in ways that feel organic and logical.

So, I think this is pretty much a masterpiece.

But at the same time I had significantly worse experiences with the Crash DLC, so I'd suggest people to skip that, honestly. There the puzzles were actually irritating, there are much more repetition and less freedom, leading to the feeling of being stuck at a single place. Often it felt that the developers want to force a single artificial solution on you even though you'd have other tools to solve the problem... And there are much less secrets; you can often find corners and hiding places completely empty, or with a single crappy bone or coin in them. Throughout the entire game you feel poor and miserable, not finding nearly any coins, having to deal with multiple currencies, not having the basic tools you're familiar with, and even when you get them they have seemingly fundamental abilities stripped until the end of the game; it's all so backwards. I found much of the experience profoundly unrewarding and disempowering, which is quite a contrast to the original game... I did finish Crash too, but I think it pretty much just tarnishes the Supraland brand. Fortunately Six Inches Under seems much better.

If you like puzzles and exploring, give this game a try! Combat's not very challenging (imo) and it's not what the game is about really (like advertised), but it's a nice filler.
There's a demo you can play to get a taste of the game . You can keep your progress if you decide to buy the full game.

100%'d the game + all base game achievements in 22 hours without rushing and guides (besides last 3 items I couldn't find by myself).

Fantastic. The insane world and puzzle design really surprised me. I love a good metroidvania and it's so rewarding finding worthwhile secrets and rewards in every nook and cranny of the map. Seriously, every time you think you've beat the developers and gotten somewhere you weren't intended to go, you find a chest or a funny gag. I played for 33 hours and got 100% on Xbox via GamePass, then bought the game on Steam so I could play the DLC which has very funny writing, but the puzzle design isn't quite as good as the main game. Still worth it, though. Going to play Six Inches Under next and I can't wait for the sequel. Highly recommended game.

All finished in just under 20 hours, not counting DLC. It's a good game I think, but a difficult one to recommend.

The humour is juvenile at best and edgy in the most uninteresting ways possible, the worst kind of edgy. The puzzles are only difficult where you haven't unlocked the recommended tools/skills or the solution is flat-out stupid (like growing flowers instantly from water THEN planting them). The exploration is marred by poor design choices creating a ton of invisible wall collisions and more than a handful of places to sequence-break the game (in one case it detected that I had done this, and pushed me back). Combat is a non-issue and really a non-affair, it could be removed from the game and I would not even notice the change.

I enjoyed the game because the exploration aspect and how the way you move changes the world was interesting enough and the puzzles surpassed the minimum level required for engagement.

This game is great! I really loved playing it. I'm not a 100% guy, so I didn't go through much after finishing the main storyline. It's more of a 3D metroidvania than a "zelda-like" in a lot of ways. The puzzles are often small, perfectly sized to give you bits of dopamine as you solve each one and feel brilliant. Exploring is fun, every location, no matter how unlikely, contains something for you to find (even if it's just a coin).

The game has juuust the right amount of hinting (and I hear their discord community is nice too). At several places, you'll see a guy standing around during puzzles. You won't figure out those puzzles, if you're like me and you forget small mechanics. That guy will, after a couple of times talking to him, tell you a great hint to solve the puzzles. It basically only happened on puzzles where I was annoyed with them, and they were almost always right. Great design in this game.

look, the combat is bad. You can avoid it often, and once you get the "blow up your projectiles" power you can just spam that to defeat enemies, but if they made this game without combat it probably would be 3x better. It's a bummer because I LOVE the puzzles, exploration, and just wealth of ideas in this game.

Can't wait to try six inches under, the sequel that looks amazing!

Description is pretty accurate. Portal, Metroid, and Zelda are a pretty apt three to choose for likeness.

Honestly pretty good gameplay loop that was highly satisfying when steamrolling puzzles. A good amount of "Aha!" moments ensures you always press on to seek the next challenge. Good variety of more complex puzzles mixed in with some more simple ones allows for the flow to deviate a little. I got stuck on one puzzle which I resolved instantly after having a break for a couple hours, and I toppled barrier after barrier in a success spree. My only complaint regarding puzzles was that towards the end they became incredibly obtuse. I didn't enjoy the boss fight at all, and I believe I actually circumvented most solutions through lapses in geography rather than their predetermined methods. For the most part, the puzzles utilise all the tools at your disposal quite well, and some of the more optional challenge ones felt satisfying to complete.

As for the pure gameplay and controls, I will say the combat is its weakest aspect. Once you acquire the guns combat gets another layer to its diversity and becomes a bit more fun. However, when using the sword, the lack of options only highlights the flaws. Not having the option to block, or parry does hurt the melee combat and makes most encounters a grindy clickfest, the guns becomes far more desireable as their damage output far outperforms the sword.

Finding secrets, collectables, and upgrades is rewarding, but also a partial necessity. A good deal of encounters are in direct roads to solving puzzles and thus enemies tend to interfere with the process. Not making an effort to seek out damage/movement/health upgrades definitely hinders your progress, and as enemies begin to evolve, you will want to keep toe-to-toe with them. The environments hint at a lot of verticality so you will tend to be looking up and down in order to find hidden chests, as they are rarely in between.

The overall map is highly interesting and engaging as its design cues float towards an impression of a kids playground. Being miniaturised makes for some highly entertaining sequences involving everyday household objects that are gargantuan in the world of Supraland. I would say there was perhaps a little feeling of claustrophobia as most barriers and walls are all the same stone, or rocky foundation which makes a good deal of areas feel samey samey, but it's the guts that makes up what mostly matters and this may not be an issue for some.

Overall I rate this experience quite well. I was a little sceptical at first with the ambition of the game, especially once you realise just how big the map is, but I found most puzzles and hidden areas became immediately accessible through either clever bypasses or the moment you unlocked the final tool. Besides its rather hamfisted ending sequence, it's a pleasant, and challenging experience when it requires it. For those seeking a challenge I think you'll find your mettle tested in some areas, maybe not so tested as something like The Talos Principle, but Supraland isn't trying to be brain-bustingly difficult.

If my only real complaints are mostly visual, with the combat being its main downside, I think the game has done a decent job, especially when the combat isn't the main focus of the game.

Final verdict: Definitely worth a look if you're into puzzlers. A solid 15 hours plus for the completionist, and at least 8-10 for the casual.

7/10.

This reminded me in some ways of Journey to the Savage planet, quite enjoyable exploration.

The only issues this game really had was tracking itself and what it did, causing softlocks on achievements, HOWEVER the save backup system took care of those issues. It just sucks having to redo soo much stuff and since its impossible to redo everything identically in such an open world you miss something else you already did.

This one is a "maybe" from me.

There are some things I really appreciate about this game. And overall, it's a great game - if you read the reviews and see what it's about and think you like it, you probably won't be disappointed.

But for me, I strangely felt like I wanted more tips. It's not like this is an "open world" game - it's more or less linear. There's a place you're currently at and a place you're supposed to go next. While you can often do some free roaming or exploring, you can also often get trapped somewhere and forced to go forward. And because a lot of the game's mechanics are implied rather than explained, it's easy to get stuck and feel frustrated in these parts.

I consider myself to be someone who's good at puzzle solving and figuring things out quick. But maybe that's just relative. Because there's a lot of puzzles in this game where you're dropped in with no real hints or clues. It's especially challenging when you get a brand new tool, and then are expected to incorporate its use with the rest of your tools without any real practice or training or advice. This isn't always the case but I found it to be the case far too often.

The developer and creator of the game has a really nice write-up on their philosophy behind it. Basically they wanted to create a game that doesn't hand-hold or always tell you where exactly to go and what exactly to do. They even wrote their own spoiler free/friendly guide to the game - giving hints to puzzles but not outright solutions. And I very much respect where they're coming from with all this, I think it's great in concept and the way they talk about how they tried to design puzzles so that you'd indirectly learn how to use a tool from something you saw or solved previously that you'd have to apply moving forward - there's a lot of this that is really well done.

However towards the end of the game you just have so many different abilities and different ways to combine them that it became overwhelming for me personally. I found myself basically just referring to the hints guide for every single step of the game at that point - and that's not what I enjoy. There are a lot of good indicators and hints built into the game, but also too many times where things are very unclear, or even intentionally misdirect you. And since it is a "metroidvania" style progression as well, it's often hard to tell if you missed something along the way or if you're trying to solve a puzzle that you can't. Sometimes an NPC will explicitly tell you so - but not always.

So despite thinking it's a good game I also have to abandon it. I'm not having fun any more and I'm not really enjoying trying to solve the puzzles - they don't feel intuitive, they just feel like guesswork. Maybe I really am just overly babysat by the new generation of games and have strayed too far from how games worked in the past. I simply found that I had reached a point where solving puzzles had become a tedious chore instead of a rewarding exploratory journey.

I'd still recommend it to anyone looking for that kind of experience. Or who won't be bothered by looking at the hints page constantly. But if I'm playing a game that's not meant to hand-hold and yet I have to refer to the hint guide constantly, I'll just end up wishing the hints had been incorporated into the game and will end up dropping it instead.

Playtime says 41 hours, but its more like 23 actually.

I beat it, I had some fun. But I have no interest in completing it.

While it captured my childhood imagination and manifests it into a world for me to enjoy as an adult, I was ready for it to be over before I beat it. But just because I don't fully vibe with it, doesn't mean I can't tell it's a good game that many others would enjoy.

Timer.
Timer.

Simple story but strong gameplay and visuals. Only problems would be that you hit annoying invisible walls while exploration higher hills and some really hard puzzles but all in all one of the best indie games from recent years.

One of those few games that makes me remember why i love gaming.
Overall it's a great experience.
Particulary: interesting setting, various mechanics and puzzles, which are super fun to solve. Not just a big world, but a fun and interesting to explore. Fun story, told with a good humor. Enjoyable atmosphere, just what you need after a day of hard work.

Supraland is a game I’ve been eyeing for a while, and only recently got the hardware for. (It’s one of those “all games must be computer-meltingly photorealistic” affairs.) It is billed as a “First-Person Metroidvania”, like Metroid Prime, and has a cutely weird premise of taking place in a child’s extremely elaborate sandbox, with every character and object being a toy of some kind.

I liked it a lot more than Metroid Prime, chiefly because it had a mouse-based control scheme that meant basic actions weren’t like pulling teeth. I found it fun overall, but also a bit shallow, with not enough complexity to really carry the full game.

My chief problem with the game is that exploration doesn’t feel rewarding. Areas are chock-full of secret areas and treasure chests, but it’s exceptionally rare for them to reward you with qualitatively distinct upgrades. Instead, almost all of the upgrades are minor stat increases to health and attack power for your different weapons. This might have been interesting if the game had an engaging combat system, but it does not; enemy attack patterns are extremely simple, they rarely last more than a few hits, and dying doesn’t meaningfully hurt your progress in any way. Combat in this game unfortunately feels like a tedious chore that only distracts from the actual fun bits, so spending half an hour wracking my brain over a tricky puzzle only to be rewarded with a few extra attack points for a weapon I don’t even use is a huge let-down. (Admittedly, I tend to feel the same way about Metroid‘s oodles of unnecessary missile expansions.)

When the game does give you new tools, though, they are delightful. After the first one (which is just your standard ranged weapon), I was legitimately surprised and impressed by how radically they changed the game and how I looked at environments. Objects that I would previously dismiss as window dressing kept turning out to have gameplay applications, and so I was constantly re-evaluating my understanding of the mechanics.

I also enjoyed the strong puzzle focus in this. The game cites Zelda and Portal as inspirations, and I can definitely see that, especially Portal. To my surprise, I didn’t even mind the first-person platforming too much — you get a lot of aerial maneuverability, and areas are almost always designed so that you can quickly get back up if you fall off of something.

My biggest criticism, aside from the tedious and intrusive combat, is that the game often falls into the puzzle trap of “I didn’t know I could do that.” There are a lot of mechanics that are introduced only for one puzzle, and a bunch more that are never formally explained to you, like that your gun projectile changes color if it passes through something. Special mention goes to the Supraball mechanics, which I initially thought was a powerup I missed; the NPC who’s supposed to teach you about them doesn’t explain what a Supraball is or looks like, and the introductory puzzle makes it intentionally hard to realize those things by accident. While unlike The Witness I didn’t think any of the mechanics were extraneous, the game really needed to explain them a lot better.

Relatedly, the game really needed to signpost the important optional upgrades better. I spent about half the game not realizing that I missed the ability to destroy spawn points, because how was I supposed to know that this one random chest held a vital ability instead of yet another +1 sword damage? Gating the final spawnpoint destroyers behind the postgame was also a weird choice; if we got the ability from the start or midway through I could have been chipping away at spawnpoints the whole game, but instead you have to do it all at once, turning it into a chore rather than anything that enhances the experience.

Overall, despite my gripes, I would still say it’s worth trying if you like Metroidvanias and puzzle games, but it’s not worth trying for 100%. There’s a free demo, so that might be a good chance to see if it clicks for you.

As soon as I saw the obscure reference to the Stanley Parable demo at the start, I knew I was in good hands.

When I first saw the description "A mix between Portal, Zelda and Metroid", I laughed and mocked it for being so bold, but honestly it's fairly accurate. It may not be as groundbreaking and genre-defining as those games, but it truly is a fun and unique game in it's own way.

The game is full of very cheesy and obscure humor, if you're into that. At first I tried it as a joke, but I quickly ended up burning through both the DLC and the sequel back to back. I'm honestly glad I found this game, as it seems almost tailor made for me. It is also very completionist friendly, and hits the perfect balance of having post-game content, but without becoming annoying or grindy.

If you like open world games, unlocking a ton of power ups, mix of puzzles and combat, with a sprinkle of meta humor, definitely give this a try.

Stunning. This has got to be one of the greatest games I have ever played. The puzzles are immersive and unique. The puzzles develop from the tools you collect along the way, which creates more complex puzzles the farther you progress. The art style is new, original, and beautiful; allowing you to feel as if you are actually in the sandbox of a child. The combat is cute with a difficulty curve, which can be made easier or harder dependent on how many side puzzles/challenges you complete. The story is simple yet elegant, with multiple twists along the way. The map is correctly placed in development of the plot and of exploration, making exploration feel open though not to open to the point in which you feel lost. The amount you can explore in this game makes it feel open world, at the same time monster fighting, at the same time an upgrade-style game. at the same time a story that came to life, and in all; an adventure. The crash DLC could be better though. 10/10, Amazing!

Oh no a skeleton appeared! *skeleton appears theme plays*

Yes, this is a good game although I wasn't all for the characters looking pretty simple by design other than the enemies. But this does not make the game bad in any way I still enjoy this style of puzzle adventure game play I find it very intriguing. The way movement is used alongside looking for hidden upgrades makes this game feel like a FP 3D platformer collect-a-thon which really got me hooked into this. The game is open-world and it's packed tight with secrets to find and I think it makes sense to say the open-world aspect is done really well and makes transitioning to different areas very smooth you almost can't tell. The combat felt fun and challenging and it feels well encouraged to go for the upgrades because they all make some decent improvements to your tools over-time.

Simply a fantastic puzzle adventure game. The exploration from beggining to end is fresh and rewarding, and there's also a ton of room for player creativity in how you tackle different obstacles. Trying to find ways to maybe go over a wall in an unintended way or use precise movement to reach a ledge were always highlights, and 9 times out of 10 there will be something there for you to grab which will make it worth it.

I am now a huge fan of the Supraland series, one of the best puzzle games I've played in a while!

I had some issues with the main game that would crash randomly on AMD hardware. This was fixed by minimizing the shadows with the slider. After that is was a very unique and enjoyable game. At times it would have been nice, if there were more in game hints, but there are other sources if you get stuck. It's fast paced, fun and full of surprises! I love this gem.

Fantastic metroidvania/puzzle solver and one of my favorite indie games of all time! The puzzles are fun while remaining challenging. Meaning you may get stuck on how to get to a chest or open a door a few times during the game. If it sounds interesting, the demo is a perfect way to test it! It gives you a decent chance to explore the game and last far longer than most other demos out there. further the demo saves your progress if you decide to buy the game.

Pros:
-Free Demo that saves progress if you buy the game!!
-Fun gameplay!
-Fun Puzzles
-Growing abilities over time make your character ever stronger and more mobile
-Great post-game exploration
-Great humor!
-Welcoming and casual atmosphere!

Cons:
-Puzzles can get frustrating

Neutral:
-Combat is simple, but not a large portion of the game

Bitchproof

Amazing metroidvania/ puzzle game. The puzzles are fun while still being challenging. The demo is not short like other games, but lengthy enough to get a good taste of the game. Also, the progress from the demo is transferred to the main game if you purchase the game.

dracos12

This game really deeply understands the fantasy it is trying to go for and is crafted by an inventive and creative puzzle crafter. It's an entire world about its secrets and surprises, layed out as a child's backyard crafted toy, and leaning into that visually in its setup as the Red folks and the Blue folks conflict.

The game is designed in a way to be satisfying as you explore, try things out, and have your insights rewarded. But it doesn't do a good job of ensuring players actually know what mechanics are available to them. And because its a puzzle game at its heart, without external guides, a single 'I don't get it? What do you want me to do?' Can be the end of the experience.

One memorable switch activating the very first radio-wave platform is set up so you will most likely be facing the other way when you trigger it. It took me some time to realize what it was even doing. This is only one of many mechanics that the game just simply does a poor job of introducing. The whole thing could've gotten a ton of value out of simple zelda style cuts or visual hints of new mechanics before they started being used as step 4 of 8 in an overworld challenge.

Also frustrating is while the developer would put NPCs to let you know you had everything...it kind of was needed too. There was a mixture of puzzles where you could get through with few abilities and ones you definitely needed a later ability for and they weren't clear, so it was easy to headbutt against a section without realizing it was impossible to navigate at the moment.

At the very end it seems to just give up on having the NPCs give hints, certain puzzles just blasting odd button combinations right on the screen as a hint. Was surprising since several times in the game there were suggestions the designer realized 'here is where people have forgotten something they can do' and usually they took the angle of being smug about it through the NPCs (or confirming that you do have all the abilities you need) about people not knowing how to get it. The unwillingness to use more of that for side rewards and the willingness to allow for missing important game features in side rewards was frankly odd.

Honestly, the game demonstrates a ton of crafting skill, but as I leave irritable rather that satisfied at it, I won't personally grab to see if things have gotten better in the person's latest projects anytime soon. It feels like another set of eyes could've really done the developer a lot of good. I recommend it, with restraint. It's a brilliantly put together product...but also a shadow of what could be vastly more amazing. The beginning few hours being definitely among the best parts.

Unrelated to the content: I particularly had difficulty with graphics bugs, even after swapping video cards (An outrageous move). Apparently the shadows in certain areas can lock up even modern cards and honestly surprised the physics didn't bug out at some point too, since it certainly didn't try to be careful with it. Just something to look at if suddenly midway through the game the game starts hard crashing. Really appreciated its mostly safe save mechanics (I still lost my map, but better than losing the first 15 hours of play)

Casperr
Casperr

Excellent 3D puzzle platformer / collect-a-thon. Just the right amount of collectables and secrets to not feel overwhelming/boring. I rarely bother 100%ing a game, but by the time I got to the end of the "story" I was at like 90% and the game gives you a very useful power up that helps you seek out any missing secrets so searching high and low on every corner of the fairly big open world wasn't quite as tedious as it would have been otherwise!

Really fun power ups, challenging-but-not-too-challenging-puzzles and all around great game.

Had another go with post-launch patches and had decent fun for the first 10 hours. Some tedious puzzles here and there, part of the genre. But near the end of the game there is a puzzleroom that just super artificially limits your options with an invisible ceiling that just so happens to block your translocator ball and a pipe that suddenly only accepts the force cube just to make the solution to the puzzle more complicated. There is no explanation, no logic.

I was already getting tired of the meaningless +1 upgrades and the forced combat that lacks any challenge whatsoever but that puzzle just made me quit and uninstall instantly.

Past
Past

Excellent first person metroidvania-esque puzzle game. Respects your intelligence enough for you to figure out most things on your own, but also doesn't leave you out to dry by giving you enough environmental hints.

I will say, as you enter the last 1-2 areas of the game, it can become somewhat easy to just completely forget about one of your abilities, or more specifically, how your abilities interact with the environment, which will get you completely stuck on a puzzle. For instance, forgetting that I can shoot a charge shot through a beam of electricity to turn the charge shot electric happened more than once. Perhaps more could be done level-design wise to ensure these abilities are really engraved in the players head, but hey, I'm not a level designer.

You're also completely mapless until the 3rd major upgrade, which is sort of fine? Just be sure not to forget where you went. It's also kind of a bad map since all it is is a top-down shot of the world; so if there's, say, a giant chair blocking part of the map, well guess you're not looking there.

I'll likely check out the sequel, but I am admittedly somewhat burnt out after playing this all weekend, completing the game just shy of 13 hours.

I found this game really fun. If you like Journey to the Savage Planet or the Gunk, you'll probably like this too.
There were a few glitches with texture rendering, sponges that disappear into the ground (after which, the texture issues started) ... but those didn't make the game unplayable and there were no soft-locks that lost progress. I bought the second one and I'm hoping it's good too.

Yes, I say give this a go. Check out some game play on YT if in doubt. One Boss in the middle of play gives some people grief but if you collect enough power ups it becomes much more manageable. And the final Boss is more Brains than Brawn. Plenty of time to explore and a galore of puzzles to solve. I'm in over 50 hours now and at about 80% completion. A lot of fun no doubt.

Great. Just great. First person 3D adventure game with puzzles and combat.

The Good

    • Wonderful puzzles. Generally the puzzles are more difficult than Zelda, simpler than Talos Principle, but it varies quite a bit.
    • Meaningful upgrades and unlocks giving continual progression.
    • One of the best built worlds in a game I've played in a long time.

The Bad

    • Beginning 30 minutes is quite annoying. Lots of backtracking and repetative combat. The gameplay gets much better after a few unlocks.
    • Enemies respawn a bit too unpredictably. The combat can be fun at times, but is often a chore due to how it's initiated.

The Ugly

    • Sometimes the game crashes and entirely blanks the explored map. The map exploration does not appear to be part of the save file, unfortunately.

Overall, if you are in the mood for a great puzzler, don't pass this up.

Chucklehead
Chucklehead

I found the first 8 hours or so of this game extremely charming. Cute setting and storyline, fun puzzling, just a really delightful experience. By the end I hated it and desperately wanted it to be over.

The chief issue is the combat. It is awful. It is not fun in any way and I do not even see any purpose for its inclusion in the game. There are about 5 enemy types and you will see each one dozens of times. You will hear their annoying sound effects and dodge their annoying attacks and fight them over and over and over again as they respawn every time you restart the game or reenter an area. When you are most of the way through the game and you are just trying to solve some of the final puzzles and find all the items needed to finish, the constant interruptions to engage with them is maddening.

There are other milder issues too. The way the final third of the game has you backtracking all over a complex and difficult-to-navigate map to find hidden items it suddenly decides you need, or the way the floaty controls can make precision jumps difficult, or some of the larger leaps in logic the puzzles ask you to make. But really, it mostly comes down to the combat. It drags the entire game down.

Pikachunkee
Pikachunkee

Great platformer with incredibly clever puzzles and an excellent sense of progression. The aesthetic and humor of the game are not really one I find that appealing, but the gameplay more than makes up for it. You might be put off when you first play the game as you can barely jump higher than a loaf of bread, but by the end of the game you will eventually be able to climb anything in the game. The combat is a bit repetitive, but I like that the most damaging abilities you have take the most skill to use. The puzzles are really what I would say sell the gameplay. Each new ability you have could easily be the signature move of a platformer character in another game and the devs should be commended for seamlessly combining all of the tools you have at your disposal. Must play for platformer fans

A Metroidvania Platforming Puzzle Shooter with RPG elements, that manages to never get bogged down by how many mechanics are in it. Despite how happy I am with how it pull that off, the part the impresses me the most was how every time I thought I understood everything or thought that I had managed to break the game somehow, it always surprised me by calling my bluff by not only accounting for that but expecting me to think or try that very thing. A true unexpected favourite of mine.

This was a 10/10 game for me. I absolutely loved it. I had those moments, which I experienced while playing Portal 2, where I solved a puzzle after trying so many different options - and felt like I was smart or clever... even though if I were, it wouldn't have taken so long. Great graphics, great exploring, great performance on my laptop - a Dell 9710 playing at 4K on a Dell 3422 ultra-wide. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed this game. Kudos to the developer.
