At first I was disappointed that I would have to play alone, as the multiplayer is through servers... BUT I'm addicted, there are so many things to do!

*YES WITH SOME RESERVATIONS. READ ON.

This isn't a bad game, but I don't think I'm ready to call it a good game either, not just yet. The key problem? Balance. From combat and healing to storage and crafting, this game is bogged down with balance issues at nearly every turn. Progression crawls along at a snail's pace, and leveling up skills ceases to be satisfying after the first couple of hours. The graphics and music are cute and pleasant. The movement feels good. The NPCs are funny. But in my opinion, the devs need to (if they aren't already) take a break from new content and devote some serious time to balancing the various systems already in place.

As things stand, I think this game is... fine. It's a pretty mindless way to spend time, but there's enough interesting stuff to keep me coming back. I don't regret the money I spent on it, but if you're on a budget, wait for a sale, or just wait for the game to be finished. Personally, I'm excited to see what this game might become by then.

For those who want a quick summary of my thoughts, I LOVE THIS GAME! It is a lovable, addicting rpg that has something new to discover every time I start it up.
I've held off on writing this review because I don't like recommending games to people, but I am more than happy to make an exception for this game. And with the next big update coming in 2 DAYS, I just have to spread the word.
Full disclosure, the game is in early access. But as someone who usually stays away from early access games, that doesn't tell the full story. What you can experience right now is just a fraction of what the full game will be, but I STILL feel like I got my money's worth. Not only that, but the devs seem so dedicated to making the best game possible, regardless of how many people play it. They are very transparent with the community, and for every single complaint I've seen in the reviews, I've heard mention of a fix.
The open world is so lovingly crafted, that even the smallest discoveries make me giddy with excitement. whether it's a simple weapon, a new trinket with cool effects, or just some gold, I always feel good about exploring. An addicting random loot system makes it so everyone gets different stuff out of chests, but the game also gives you really awesome fixed rewards for important quests. Not only that, but there is a platforming element to exploration that makes finding hard-to-reach places satisfying.
I also want to mention leveling up. There are a bunch of skills in the game, and leveling up the crafting skills is particularly addicting. I always love finding cool crafting recipes, and if the level requirement to learn them is too high, I'm sucked back in so I can reach that goal.
This is all not to mention the wonderful and charming writing. For context, the lead dev often reads dad jokes on his streams, so you already know the writing is top notch! But in all seriousness, the wit and humor of the game really reminds me of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (which is my absolute favorite game of all time).
Did I mention that this entire thing is multiplayer?? Because it is! Everything you can do solo is made even more fun with friends! This whole element has created a very warm community. If you're at all interested, please join the Discord. There is a very dedicated group of fans there who will share info about the game, trade items, or play with you whenever.
I could seriously write a 10 page essay about this game, but I need to stop. I haven't even mentioned farming, mounts, pvp, housing, battle companions, and so much more. There are some negatives, but I'm confident that they will be addressed eventually. And once again, the next major update is coming out in 2 days, so there is about to be a whole lot more!
I encourage you to find a more critical review before buying the game, but if any early access game is worth buying, it's this one.

Ranged attacks are useless a basic greenskin(goblin) can just jump along a mountain to hit you while you shoot from a range. Basic enemies deal 8-12 dmg to you with your 60 max hp less food buffs. Combat in a game like this should be the draw but making ranged a joke unless you are in a party or have nothing in your super limited inventory to avoid moving at a snails pace against enemies than can lunge and leap to any area in their aggro range.

What an awesome game.

It's pretty casual but has SOME elements of progression. You can level up weapon skills, and equip various types of items, minus your traditional 'armor'. There's a slot for armor, face, and head, which I assume are all cosmetic? At least from what I've experienced so far.

The weapons feel pretty fun mostly, there's not really any combos or anything like that, or any 1 2 3 attack animations, at least from my experience at lower weapon levels.

The art style and overall look of the game is nice, with colors that sort of pop.

Really great game with a developer that seems excited about his work.

Great game and the Dev's are listening to a community constantly to improve features.
I don't recommend the game if you constantly wanna run into bugs that'll ruin your experience until the game gets further in development.

Definitely worth the price. Just doing quests alone, without worrying about professions, homesteading, farming, etc, you can get 20 hours in this baby. 1$/hr played is money well spent if you ask me.

Game blows chunks. Its just doing fetch quest to unlock more fetch quest which leads to more fetch quests.

The game gets off to an excruciatingly slow start (to provide room for character stat progression I'm sure, but the newbie rats have a decent amount of hp to be killed at 1hp dmg per hit). If you can stick with it past the castaway island until you get a bit better weapon (and ignore the staves until you get a tome for them), the game picks up a bit.

I like the look/feel and the movement feels pretty good, graphics are decent. There's a large enough world for what the game costs and it's been fleshed out a decent amount. There are still a few areas that look like they're being worked on, like a building in the pirate port, a door in a cave, and the northern part of the last island.

It kind of felt like the game was missing something until I got the glider. After getting those little fans that give you a boost upward by creating updraft when placed on any flat area of the island, combined with the glider, that really gives the map a more 3 dimensional feeling and offers quite a bit more exploration value.

I recommend the game at its current price. Good buy.

Ive been looking for a fun little game I can play without having to stress about someone wanting to put my head on a chopping block. Its simple but fun, lots to do an explore, very open world. There are a few limitations over the multiplayer but now that the devs released the dedicated server for this little gem, it makes things better. I havent found any game breaking bugs or issues that kill the game for me. It has been pretty chill and if you are into this kind of RPG, then get it.

However I find the cost of $20 for the game is a bit steep for what you can do in it. I think $15 would have been the sweet spot. If this is not trivial to you, then buy the game. It's just a pretty chill lil thing and I'm having a blast.

To preface this review I just want to say that I've come off of LIVING in Valheim for 400+ hours, forgive me if I'm a bit biased.

That being said I found Swords 'n' Magic and Stuff to be absolutely wonderful! The simple mechanics, the vast number of interactive (and hidden) quests, the quaint art-style: its all there. If Valheim and Stardew Valley had a baby- it would be Swords 'n' Magic and Stuff.

You start off with some pretty informative tutorial quests, get the gist of it and immediately receive a glider to help you traverse the world! You're encouraged to explore and find new places and things with lots of neat secrets sprinkled around the two islands. No sooner do you finish all of the quests and base-building and training then you fix the ferry and get introduced to the larger continent.

Tons of content, simple inventory and quickslot management, many skills, SO many quests and they work very quickly. Already the devs have added a new area with even more quests and content.

Very impressed, love this game!

Hidden gem! I've been playing this game with my wife for a while now and there's tons of stuff to do for an early access game, we were pleasantly surprised. Still needs some improvements on performance (specially if you're the host), but I think this game is totally worth the money, keep up the good work!

Good game with some kool mechanics.
The graphics are also kool.
Interaction with the environment is on par not much more than that.
Socially not better than similar games like Dragon and Home.
Recommended if you want a kool rpg to play with friends.

Overall Thoughts:
This game would have been better with more social interactions
But instead the team have kept it neat and tidy with a rpg style
If this was a sort of Hosted Mmo style game
With all the social mods and cons it would be AWESOME!

Alas the Development team are with no ambition to take it higher.

Picked this up on a whim after stumbling across a YT vid showing it off and giving it much praise. Really charming and lots to do with what appears to be a ton more on the way. Can't wait to sink even more hours into it (even though I've only played a couple of hours so far).

maybe wait. pretty fun so far, but its just fetch quests really. could be really good depending on where it goes.

Wulf
Wulf

It's mostly fetch quests with rewards that aren't useful and grinding to level up crafting skills. The combat is bare bones with no abilities and the weapons all feel the same to use. You are unable to cut down trees or mine anything, except for predetermined hollow logs and rock pile nodes in the world that respawn.

It's basically a barebones MMO minus the shared world, classes, abilities, talent trees, etc.

The camera constantly gets pushed forward by the environment when in smaller areas with no option to zoom in to prevent that. The first person mode still shows your helmet, which often shows up right in front of the camera preventing you from seeing, which makes first person mode unusable.

Currently the only positive thing about this game is the low-poly stylized art. It's clean, consistent, and comes together nicely.

Charming score, witty flavor text and occasional dialogue and diverse topography all contribute to a magical feel with this game.

Gameplay is easy enough to follow, I do wish you could track more than one quest at a time. However, with the work coming to the combat system the game has even more potential than just being great. Cant wait to dive deeper into it!

TLDR: If you like Animal Crossing or if you like Stardew Valley and you want a bigger world to explore or if you enjoy hyper casual combat and resource gathering. Then this might be the game for you. Everyone else should just add this to their wishlist and hope it gets patched.

I try not to post negative reviews in general and I have definitely played worse games. I'm only doing this in the hopes the developer will see it and makes some changes. Also I really don't recommend buying the in the current state.

In the first 1-2 hours of play I was very excited. This game nails so many concepts that similar games get wrong. You really feel like you are in a hand crafted world where NPCs live. The towns the environment and the new player on boarding was great. I was crafting immediately which so many games will gate behind progress. I was fighting things quickly and I could understand dodge rolling and got punished when I didn't but not too harshly. There was instanced loot! Which is always amazing and definitely a great decision. There was a lot more good too, like I said definitely played worse games.

Problem is beyond that there isn't really a game, but it gives you the impression that there is. There is this pretty large area to explore but the whole game is just one big world of warcraft town full of fetch quests. The combat falls off fast because there doesn't seem to be anything beyond basic attacking and dodging and blocking. Every creature in the game feels mostly the same. Like technically some things charge other things jump and there are some archer units but it's basically that, rinse repeat. There are huge dungeon/caves that should have bosses in them and they are just empty outside of basic trash mobs.

About 3-4 hours in we caught on that there was no game and basically googled if there was even a boss in the game. SPOILER WARNING we found out there is only one and it might be cool but it's a raid style boss. You have to do a lot to unlock him (which we did, we basically skipped the entire second region and just rushed to the boss) but just like any raid boss you fail on the first attempt and immediately the game required us to gather all the materials again and so we gave up. There should have been other things to do so we could slowly gather those things and then either just triple the upfront cost and make it a server unlock or lower the attempt cost and again gives us other things to do so when we get there we would have passively gathered a few attempts worth of stuff.

This game is in dire need of a dedicated combat designer. Once you leave the tutorial/new player island literally every area of combat needs a rework. There needs to be different tiers of enemies and way more bosses. Fetch quests need to be cut way down and replaced with quests that get you to craft more or fight more and it needs more quest chains that lead to bosses or something. There needs to be areas that require a party. We had 3 people and not once did we actually need to group but (besides the raid boss I talked about).

Honestly this game has so much potential. Like seriously could be one of my favorite games. If they are just trying to make minecraft but with a cozy world to explore then I guess they will probably just ignore my entire review. That's not a game a I want. But I wrote this review in the event the developers want to make something like Core Keeper but with an awesome hand crafted world to explore. Would happily run a server for this game 24 hours a day if there was a game to play.

A cute, farm style game. It's a basic quest hub, base and profession building game. But it's really quite cute, and pretty easy to zone into.

This game has the potential to be the ultimate rpg if they follow the roadmap, currently the content can get a little bit stale at time with pretty much just questing to pass the time but with future expansions to the map, dungeons and so much more i look forward to an exciting future when the game is more developed!

Decently fun and better with friends. There is plenty to do and explore and it has quite the active dev team. 20$ USD might be pushing it for price considering the stuff in the game, but with continuous updates it will probably live up to the price tag.

Cool game... family friendly, responsive combat, and fun to play coop. Got a bunch of games during the summer sale, and this is the one that I've ended up playing the most.

Also still under development, and with more content it's just going to get better.

Great game! But..............
I bought during the summer sale and if I could, I would ask for refund.
At first, I was really excited when I started, well, 2 years on Early Access and still not enough to do, I've seen a huge map on steam, but just a future update (maybe when they release the game), theres not that much stuff to do yet, not that much content to enjoy or to make the money spent worth it.
To level up your professions you need to grind A LOT like crazy (way more than a lot of games..)
Inventory is the worst! Everything takes a space, you can carry stuff because you are always heavy.
Leveling your professions and leveling your weapon at the same time, your weapon will be like 25-30 and your profession cant keep up even if u keep farming like crazy.. at this level your profession will still be crafting weapons to level 15...

50 hours in and I am still enjoying this game. Let's review. Overall a very satisfying experience so far.

- PROS: kid friendly, theme, style, good storytelling, within a classic adventure gather and fetch format. The game has: gathering, various crafting, a variety of weapon and costume options. Player housing with decoration options. Mounts and combat pet collecting. The music is breezy and mellow. The combat can be challenging and there is no penalty to being defeated - just a loss of time as you respawn. The best parts are the hidden places that reward careful exploration and the effortless multiplayer. Multiplayer loot is personal loot so there is no need to compete. Cooperation is rewarded.

- CONS: still being refined. Lots of trouble with ladders. Early combat can be a bit rough until the learning curve is worked out. Combat pets can sometimes be unreliable. Inventory and storage tends to get quickly overloaded causing some maintenance challenges. Some quest chains are vague though can be worked out with some effort.

I intend to play this title for years as it is developed. Definitely recommended.

Definitely worth your time, I realize most people get turned off when seeing that big blue "Early Access Game" banner. However this game has a great dev team behind it and they always give you updates on how they are progressing. You can tell this is a passion project that gives you still a good amount of content. Worth checking out and playing, especially if you have others to experience it with!

Loving this game! There is so much to explore and discover. While adventuring with friends I fell in a whole and found some fun stuff. Every time I play there is one or more of these experiences and they are my most favorite!

I have a list of improvements I'd love to see as the game is still developing. I prefer a hot bar, I struggle with the triple space bar glider, the combat pet is a bit erratic. But those are just minor things compared to how much fun I'm having exploring and finding.

Best to play blank (without any walkthrough or wiki pages). Exploration is very rewarding and there are a lot of secrets to discover which simply wouldn't be as fun when you got a walkthrough

i value my games at a dollar per hour of play time making it worthwhile, and i can say while the game is still a work in progress this game is definitely worth more than i paid for it. its rather simplistic but its good fun, the quests can vary, and it has some great charm to it. i can see myself coming back after updates and continuing to enjoy both the cuteness, charm and overall adventure to the game. the developers post update blogs often which is always nice to see. One gripe is have is more community driven than anything if you get stuck or cant find the solution to something the wiki or other guides online are usually outdated or its hard to find what your looking for, but i imagine with time and a bigger community there will be more people helping make it a more magical game.

It ok

Seriously though I think my hours kinda speak for themselves.

Honestly though, I think the best thing I can say about the game is that it's really a game for everyone, from players who just wanna build a nice house and do some farming and cooking to players like me that want to do everything. And boy are there a lot of things to do before you've done everything, you gotta do every quest, get all skills maxed out, collect every hat, mask, weapon, outfit, mount, piece of food, piece of furniture and all their recipes. You may not get 600 hours worth of playtime doing everything, a decent bit of my playtime is testing, but you will take a while to get everything if that's your goal. Definitely worth buying.

Sword n Magic is one of the best games that I have had the pleasure to play. I picked up the game in September for a friend's birthday since it was on his steam wishlist. I wish I had found this game sooner, and was able to find it on my own, because there are very few games that I am amazed at. It is a huge surprise to me that I have not heard of this game sooner, or that this game has not exploded everywhere like other games have. It is by far one of the best games I have ever played. I never feel guilty about spending time exploring this world and learning its secrets. Whatever price it is at, is an absolute steal. The developers take great pride and care in their work of art they call swords n magic n stuff, and it shows throughout the entire game.

Graphics:
The graphics are not some crazy ultra detailed modeling, and i think the style and level of detail this game provides is perfect for the type of game it is. Every design hits the mark and adds to the game. Its simple, cute, and very effective. I'm an architect, so i really appreciate some of the design choices and aesthetic elements they have been continually adding to the game.

Combat:
Even though the combat is not finished, it still feels like a fully formed system that is both engaging and challenging. They really did a good job with the progression of items and how they impact the gameplay. Even if someone gives a new player the best weapon in the game, it will not break the game and still provides the player to grow with their equipment. The enemies having resistance and weaknesses to weapon adds another layer of planning and strategy that most games do not achieve like this one does.It gives the player reason to experiment and craft a variety of weapons to try. They plan on adding to the weapon system, and i know they will make it even better.

The weapons sometimes do not feel different from one another as some of the stats are very similar and only the swings are different. This would normally be a point of criticism, but knowing they are updating the system and how good the combat system feels, makes it less a concern.

Questline:
The quests in this game vary alot, and thats a good thing. The developers do a really good job of adding story that actually impacts your thinking of how to complete a task. Factions in the game seem to be blossoming. A persons back story or hobbies, do not simply get lost after your time with them is different. Some quests have a way to web together that makes this world really feel alive and active. Sure are there quests that seem like simple fetch quests? yea, but most games do that, and this games just seems to do it better. Now that they are adding bosses, the questlines are becoming more entertaining and rewarding.

Forging, Farming, Crafting etc:
At first this seemed like the most grindy part of the game. It was very fun and interesting to be able to craft and make tons of item, but the progression was slow. The beauty, is that the community voiced their opinions and the developers listened and balanced this aspect of the game to be far more progressive and makes It a fun integrated part of the gameplay. Did I mention there is a ton of items to craft? Cause there is, and they keep adding more. Getting resources is easy and intuitive. The amounts they provide feel just right. The options you have with each resource are massive. The more they update and add into the game makes the world keep super jampacked with valuables at every turn. If you are like me, it takes me forever to move somewhere because im constantly picking up things along the way… just incase.
Farming is another fun part of the journey. I was one who did not farm until I was wrapping up other parts of the game. When I tend to do something I go big. Every single area possible had crops and I was just bouncing back and forth watering and collection and planting and so on and so on. The game provides you with so much food that it often gets sold, and you can still fill your belly and get those necessary recipes and meals. This is one area of the game that starts slow but really snowballs and becomes really easy once you find a specific place, and understand how stats in the game work. Farming was super easy and fun even though it seemed very intimidating at first.

Character / items and etc
The characters are very customizable and the game does an excellent job at allowing you to store and exchange items as needed with their collection and bank system. Storage is a bit tricky, as it can run out quickly. Unlike other games you can carry an infinite amount, but the penalty is your movement speed. You gradually get slower as you carry more and more stuff. It took me a while to figure it out at first, but once I did, I felt like the wind. The system is good and makes so much sense. It does feel like it needs to be tweaked as you want to carry a lot and you can easily accumulate a ton of items. Dropping off items to your bank seem to be frequent at times. The dev’s seem to be addressing this issue as well. They have already increase capacity and provide items such as backpacks that allow you to carry more without penalty. Overall its one of the better systems ive expericend.

Money:
The money in this game is balanced. It always feels important, but never an absolute necessity that becomes a wall to overcomes at every step of the game. Money can get you cool things or help you get new equipment, or a house or land at this stage in the game. Money was abused at a point in time in the game by us the players, where it almost had no value, but the developers were again there to make sure the experience of the game was preserved.

Community:
I have been involved with several game communities and most were not nearly as friendly, and helpful as this one. The ability to create an open server is one of the highlights of this game. I have heard this game be described as a single player game a bunch, and well that might be true, its full potential is in the interactions with other players that is made possible by how easy it is to find new players. Everyone is so eager to help each other, that when I completed the majority of the game, i still keep playing to help others and see the joy in them as i had felt when accomplishing feats, or figuring out a secret. Since resources and items are kept separate from player to player, it breeds a community that is very welcoming.

Development:
This game had me obsessed in the beginning. So much so, that I really felt like i needed to take a day off of work to keep playing. But being the responsible adult that I am, i only forwent much needed sleep to fuel my addiction. The game has a way of making you want more, and to explore more. The developers are always giving the players a window into the process and future of the game with their roadmap, devlogs, and twitch stream. ( i am not on twitter, but they do post on there too!) This helps the player understand how the game has changed, and will change. Their twitch allows them to have a consistent source of player information and criticism that do shape the game in some aspect.

For a small team its refreshing to see a clear goal and love for their project. When i first played i was not even aware this was an early access game. It felt fully developed, and to their credit, they are always tweaking and updating and patching and fine tuning. They know what they want this game to be, and seeing the progress and slight hints to the future makes me really excited to be a passenger and player in the experience they are creating.

Secrets:
This game is full of secrets at every turn. It feels like every time you meet someone new they have found something you have not, even if you feel like you are done with the game. I love that there is no finished wiki for the game.

Steam has limited my characters and i cannot finish my full review. I may start my first youtube series on this game as there is alot to cover

For an early access game, this has impressed me so much! The development team has grown and has obviously been putting in tons of work.

What I like about this game is that it doesn’t hold your had the whole time. It does provide you the tools, dialogue, and clues to get through puzzles and quests. You MUST use your brain! But as others I’m sure, I to get stumped. And the community is helpful enough to answer questions or even provide hints with spoilers.

All in all, I can’t wait to see what is in store for the future of Swords n Magic. There is plenty to do in game with questing, exploration, crafting, farming, and playing with friends!

My best description: Animal Crossing vibes (casual) with light combat (no real spells or special attacks) where you can live out a fantasy life.

Perhaps I am a more accepting gamer or perhaps my standards are too low... Those, i can imagine, are some of the excuses I can see for people to explain why I absolutely LOVE this game. This game is exactly that: a CASUAL open-world RPG. There is barely hand instructions because it harkens back to "ye olden days" of gaming where you had to pay attention to dialogue AND talk to NPCs.

You will enjoy this game if you like that sense of adventure that perhaps EverQuest or vanilla World of Warcraft vibe, but much more relaxed. If you are one of those people that need to be super OP in the game and rush through... you will HATE this game. Besides it being in Early Access (but the Devs are top notch with content releases and updtes), this game is meant to be taken slow.

You can ride a chicken! 10/10. Also relaxing farming and great combat. It's kinda grindy, but you can also choose not to grind and still be pretty well equipped, I'd say. There are also a lot of quests, which are not too long and not too short. You can build houses and decorate them with an insane number of items. It's definitely worth the money!

Pretty fun, good fame to chill with. Has some bugs but they are no that bad. I plan to play more when I can play with my friends on mac, but until then I wait.

Breck

My biggest problem with this game is that the character progression and combat is terrible. There are no levels. Clothes are purely cosmetic. The only difference between weapons is how much damage they deal and their crit chance. The only way to become more powerful is to get better consumables and weapons that do more damage. There are no skills. No combos. Nothing. You just spam click while your character does the same animation over and over again.

That's not the only gripe. The inventory is terrible. Encumbrance, which slows your movement speed if you exceed the carrying capacity, is encountered early and often. There is also no way to sort or search your inventory, so you just end up with a big grid of icons to manually sift through when you want to find something.

There are a lot of side quests, which so far have just been poorly written kill/fetch quests, but since there are no levels the rewards are hardly worth it. Also, you can only track one quest at a time, so if you decide to try and do the side quests in an efficient manner there will be a lot of mental tracking and organization of which quests can be completed in the same area.

Interacting with game objects is annoying. The only way to know if something is interactable is to be almost directly on top of it and have your cursor hovering directly over it, at which point it will be outlined in white. This causes you to spend a lot of time running right up to every object you see to figure out if it's functional or just a prop.

Loot is tedious. When you kill something, smash an object, or open a chest, the loot just plops out on the ground and you have to hover your cursor over it and press a button to collect it. However, there is nothing to distinguish it from any other object in the game world, and it can end up being hidden behind or under other objects, so you spend a lot of time just moving your mouse around and spamming the collect button. This, combined with the previously mentioned issue of interaction, makes looting and gathering extremely tedious.

Crafting is boring. It's a simple recipe and grocery list system as used by many other games, but with the added tedium of needing to hold down the craft button until a progress bar fills up. The more you craft at once, the longer it takes. This has the effect of time gating game progression, but to what end I cannot fathom.

The game has promise, but it needs a lot of work to be worth buying.

It's an amazing game! You can tell this game was treated and made with lots of loving care. In the beginning it's a little hard to find motive but once you get started you can't stop. I have only good things to say. I highly recommend you get this game it is totally worth it.

dont buy this game, its very addictive! My brother came with the idea to play this game, I looked at it in the steam store and I was like " nah these graphics are childish" But in fact they are cute and quite good looking, its not like minecraft. But dont let these graphics fool you, the game can be played by new beginners but there is alot of going on for more advanced players too. The ammount of secrets and quests are amazing. I recommend not to use any guide, because that will spoil the feeling of adventure. Instead go play with friends and enjoy discovering the insane amount of secrets.

I made the big mistake of skipping trought my qeusts and conversations the first 40 npcs or so, untill i relized that unlike other well knowns rpgs, you are missing out on key information or hints. Or you might even end up picking the wrong choise. For example (little general spoiler alert) this one quest i got a key, you have 3 options as fas as i know. Bring back the key to the owner, use the key on a secret chest or let the owner pay for the key. I choose the chest and got a nice weapon, wich i didnt leven yet (you can play with any weapon at all times, but the more you use it the better your skill level will become) my brother choose the give the key to the owner and he got a follow up hint. Our friend tried to hassle over the price of the key and they simply took the key from him leaving him empty handed. And there are dozens of choices like this wich lead you to unkown other stuff. Its great!

A big bag of ducks
A big bag of ducks

Cozy and cute.
Easy to play.

Alright, now that I've played it a bit more, I will say that this game is worth the price.

I'm not sure what it is about this game that pulls me in, but it's really something.
- It's easy. Combat (so far, updates are coming afaik), is nothing special, but it's there. Action combat with active blocking and dodging, just enough to keep me satisfied.
- Quests and story, nothing major (so far), but interesting and very cute. Quests vary from gathering mushrooms to slaying big spiders to save people. They're fairly standard RPG quests.
- The graphics are very cozy to me. It's just enough to make it look beautiful.
- Gear is everything it needs to be. All visable armor (that I've found) seem to be purely cosmetic and weapons got stats. You can dualwield onehanded weapons to mix and match. And there seems to be quite many different types of weapons.
- You can also own a home (in several places it seems), which you can decorate both inside and outside with a lot of things.
- Crafting! While it may be a bit slow due to gathering, it's there and you can craft so many things. Everything from gear to furniture!
- The world! It's just big enough at the moment, since the game is in early access, but looking at the plans they have, the world WILL be huge. But don't worry, there are mounts!

There are some minor bugs though, some quests can't be completed and I couldn't seem to access the "seasonal area" because I accidentally got rid of something I needed to get in there. I don't know if I can get this back now or not, but it's a minor bug. Some other things have bugged out for me, but nothing gamebreaking.
The game needs tweaking (of course, it's in early access), but it is very playable right now!

This game really holds a lot of promise to become an amazingly fun game, and I do highly recommend it for people who want a laid back open world RPG that you can play solo or with friends.

I thought the game would be less fun to play. But I was shocked that it was.
The game works pretty well with controller. Only thing I've seen so far that looks strange when using controller is the movement while on the mount. (changing directions using the left stick).

I dont know if it's for all the mounts or just for the raindeer. Got it as first mount so I dont know how the other mounts work.

Game has very little content. There's only two small maps. Magic system is garbage, cast time is way to long and damage is way to low. Maybe after adding a lot more content and a real magic system this can be a good game. Not worth $20 right now.

This game is wonderful. The combat is fun and I really enjoy the way the game handles levelling up weapon skills. My favourite aspect of the game has to be the quests, they are all well written and fun to complete, in a way that reminds me of playing Oblivion. The world design is equally fantastic, and I cannot wait to see what future regions develop into if they are given the same attention and care that the first island is. The art design and characters are incredibly charming and cute, you'll want to get lost in this world for hours. I've not had much opportunity to delve too far into the building and farming systems of the game, but from what I've seen of them there is plenty to do in this world if that is your thing.

The frostfall update this year gave me my first chance to experience playing with other people in multiplayer to tackle a large boss, and the community has been nothing but friendly and welcoming, something I hope only grows better. I strongly recommend this to anyone who enjoys quest driven rpgs or the cubeworld alpha.

This is a charming little game that is fun for a group of friends or family to get together an explore. I had the pleasure of playing it during my stream rotation and found myself actually looking forward to playing more. As a person who plays hundreds of games every year it is rare that I find one that I can truly recommend and even rarer that I find one I actually crave to play beyond the first impression video.

From the moment you begin this title you can see it is a labor of love and the developers have poured their heart and soul into it. They have many creative systems in place to encourage exploration, adventuring, and even creative thinking. I for one am looking forward to returning to this title for many future streams and personal play sessions.

TL:DR: If you are a fan of games like Rune Factory, Portal Knights, or Minecraft, you will likely find some enjoyment in this game. It features huge opportunities for a large group of friends to enjoy and explore.

Add this game to your watch list and follow along with it's development. It's worth your time.

For an early access game it is passable, however it needs some work and in it's current state I do not recommend.

Pros:
- Beautiful world
- Cute art style
- Plenty of quests
- Co-op with friends

Cons:
-Lacks direction
-No minimap
-No indication on which NPCs have quests
-There is nothing to do aside from quest and craft weapons
-No real character development, i.e no abilities, no skill tree
-Magic system is non-existant

Will be watching this eagerly to see how it develops but right now I think it's going on the back burner of games I will be playing.

This is such an enjoyable game. There is so much to learn. I love that conversations with characters drop hints and secrets about another story line/quest line. I am also excited to make other choices with other toons I make to change the story line as well. Will be fun to see how the story changes with different choices. I love all of the hidden passages and items. Foraging is fun. The crafting is well thought out. Storage as always is a challenge in the beginning but not as you progress. Wonderfully thought out game.

Anfalas
Anfalas

First of all, the game is still in development. A lot of people seem to be forgetting that. This means that the questing system is unpolished and occasionally difficult to follow, combat can be punishing at times (especially those damn goblins...), and the list of things to do can feel... Short.

That all said, this is an absolutely adorable game that runs incredibly smoothly. The free-form skill system that develops as you do things is a refreshing change to the genre, as is the concept behind the game's weapons and tools. Each weapon has a rating that dictates how good it is and a skill requirement to be effective. Now that's not new, I know, but what is is that not having the appropriate skill level doesn't mean you can't use the weapon or tool - it just makes it ineffective. And I like that. It feels immersive.
Speaking of immersive, the world is gorgeously crafted with loving attention to detail, and populated with dozens of unique characters.

Would I recommend it? Sure - if you have the money free, give it a shot. Maybe even talk a friend or two into joining you, but I think it's worth it, even this early on. I've really enjoyed the 7 hours of gameplay I've put into Swords 'n Magic and Stuff at the time of writing, and I personally am super excited to see where it goes.

This game is delightful! Similar to Valheim and Minecraft in terms of gathering supplies, crafting, and even some building, but with a very cheerful, WindWaker-esque feel. Super fun to play with your friends, regardless of how much game experience everyone has.

Hi! So i have been in interest of this game for a while now And recently I just thought about getting the game. When I got the game I was disappointed on how I cannot load up the game at all. I get a little bit of a loading backdrop but it then shortly cuts to an unreal engine crash report screen. I have tried a couple different things to try to get it to work like uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and getting vulkan on my computer (which have proven not to be useful). I'll be fully honest i'm really new to computers and i'm not sure if i'm doing everything I can do to potentially get the game to work. Or if maybe my computer can't handle it. Here is some info; I know I have most required system things for the game like RAM, I do know that I have a horrible graphics card though (which might be the issue)

I really enjoy this game. While it is still in development, there is a lot to do and see.
Pros
The game makes you think instead of doing all the work for you.
The different housing options are fun
Lots of cosmetics and mounts

Cons
Until you get a house and level woodworking a little, storage is a pain
It can be aggravating to find available quests. You may not know one is available until talking to an npc and there are a lot of unique npc's. Some quests have hidden triggers.
Some npc's wander constantly requiring hide and seek every time you need to talk to them.
Quest details are at times very very vague. For example one quest was to go talk to a mage in town that the quest giver was working with. No name or location given. Another quest said to find a bandit with a red scarf. It did not say whether it was in town or in the wild.

Even with the above it is a great game that continues to be adjusted and content added. I am excited to see how it develops.

TL:DR
Game is a banger, especially with friends, feels like an mmo without all the pressure with the freedom of a sandbox, thank you Kindred Games for making such a banger.

Potential spoilers

To start off, this game is absolutely great for both close ranged combat and long range, especially with friends.

If you get good close range, you can dodge your friend's arrows so that he/she/themthed can hit enemies and not complain, you also have to get good at parrying (it's pretty generous, but you will mess up) and dodging (you gotta know your limits, just dodge and heal when low)

If you get good long range you will either use a random wand you find or a bow, I promise you won't use a slingshot until the mushrooms.. The mushrooms man, it's all I've done.. I love it.. Numbers go up.. Too addicting..

My journey begins with trying out the slingshot, actually decent at the start ngl. I then find a magic staff and try to level that up, suddenly hits like a truck and my friend leaves, I then pick up close range fighting and become a god at parrying.
I then fight harder enemies and realize I am not a god at parrying and decide to move further into this world, I find out there

Here is where the real spoiler begins, this was just a test, I'd say if you read the rest, MAJOR SPOILERS ON GEAR OR SOMETHING BRO

ALCHEMY BRO, SPLASH POTIONS, IT ALL LEADS UP TO THIS!

It has heals for a short duration over time, 5 ticks of +3 health (a tick is about one second) I suddenly put my healing wand(even though it has stupid strong and stackable heals) into my collection(press J and just put it in there)
It can even heal you and a friend if you are both in the super small AOE when you shoot it, unlike the healing staffs.

It also has witchfire, an AOE that deals 8 damage over time to enemies(forgot to count how many ticks, but assume 5 or more) and damn, suddenly I switch between shield and slingshot, I now have three buttons bound, shield, slingshot, splash heal and witchfire.

I am now a hybrid between close combat and the substitute teacher that's hot as fuck, I regret nothing. The way to get these said potions are to either buy them slowly at the random splash potion shop in Farmlands(might find more shops like it later/when they get added) or my personal favorite:

Pick up lots of mushrooms through a route you've made in your head, hit rock with pickaxe to possibly crit and get oil, pick up wolf-whateverthenameofthisplantwas and boom, you now have the ingridients and will have to figure out everything. Game is a must-buy, even in it's current early stage!

This game is extremely fun and while fairly simple, has a lot to do while not being overbearing. The first island alone had about 8 hours worth of content (and then some, I'm still working my way through it. I'm not sure why Steam is only displaying 4 hours when I had 8 hours in my previous session). The devs are also incredibly nice and putting a lot of hard work into this game. Absolutely worth the $20

Honestly, this game grew on me after getting through what I'm gonna call the starter zone.

It was shocking as the game is obviously still in need of some development, yet I found myself always having something to do, I don't remember the last time I was so excited to farm in a game but everything was/is strangely engaging.

Its definitely a grindy, slight walking sim with hack and slash. But I am sincerely hoping we get more content soon. I need more

Delightful exploration game. You can tell the developers had fun making it. Quests are plentiful and the leveling/ skills building moves at a good pace. The only thing is the player can't see who has a quest for them unless they talk to every NPC. The quest tracks once you accept it but I've had to look up a quest list to make sure I've gotten everything. Overall, this is a minor complaint because it makes you explore the world more.

At the time of this review I have had a single play session of this game. I lost 8 hours of my life and I will probably lose another 8 when I open this game again. The music is relaxing, the combat isn't 'amazing' but its still fun and lets you dual wield the simple weapons like daggers and axes, etc. I've gotten lost just exploring and doing side quests. I even got excited to find a bed to place in my home! This is a game you should definitely give a try. I have no regrets buying this.

Absolute hidden gem of a game with something for everyone. RPG aspect is filled with fun quests that make you want to speak to every NPC and see what they have to offer. I normally don't enjoy crafting systems in games but for some reason this one makes me want to max every profession. And if you don't want to do any of that you can just set up a little farm for yourself and vibe. The Devs are very vocal and its clear they want to create a quality product, with exciting updates soon to come this summer.

Caly Kittenface
Caly Kittenface

Amazing gem of a game that doesn't seem to get nearly enough attention. Bought it a few days ago and have already sunken a ton of time into all its various activities; leveling combat skills, exploring, questing, farming, gathering, crafting, finding and purchasing far-flung housing plots (I love that housing isn't restricted to cities, etc., but instead can be found out in the wilderness as well for those who want a more outdoorsy feel), decorating my house with stuff I've crafted or bought. Hunting rare recipes and hidden quests.

The combat isn't terribly complicated at the moment, but there is a major update in the pipeline for this summer to make various systems like magic much more robust. Even then, there's still plenty of variety, whether you go for melee that has options between, for example, safe and defensive single-target (1hander and shield, with the ability to deal damage on timed blocks) or less safe AOE damage potential (2handers that can cleave quite nicely), ranged for safe, high single-target damage and no AoE, or magic staves with safe, AoE damage but lower single-target damage (though the latter can be supplemented with pets that are very easy to control and provide fairly reliable meat shields).

Quests are not just "extract 10 bear kidney stones", though there are a few of those sprinkled in. I've enjoyed playing the part of detective, pirate, assistant conservation officer, and more during the various quests, some of which have multi-part quest lines. I was rather surprised by the number and variety of quests, as initially I'd expected this to be more of a Breath of the Wild-style directionless roam with little interaction with NPCs in between.

Overall, a very charming game chock full of content with tons more scheduled to come, a VERY active (and interactive, especially in their Discord) dev team, and an art style that charmed me immediately. Really, I could carry on about the game's visual appeal for days, but suffice it to say this is a very cute, cozy game that has even more wonderful content just around the corner as it chugs along on its way to full release; the teasers on the upcoming house models in particular are quite lovely, in this customer's opinion! If you're looking for a game to lose yourself in while collecting gems and outfits and building/furnishing cabins, cottages, and castles even after you're done exploring the zones currently released, this might just be the one for you!

I really love this game! I get bored by multiplayer games such as minecraft because I don’t like fighting mobs. I like how this game doesn’t make you do any of that if you don’t accept the quest and you can basically accomplish whatever you want. It’s completely customizable and there’s so many paths to take. I can’t say enough good things about this game, especially about the developers that respond quickly to issues and suggestions.

I have not played this game nearly as much as other games I may claim to love but I genuinely do like what this game has so far. What it promises also sounds great but as we do not have it yet it is all pure speculation.

Charming atmosphere? Yes. Game that feels like a good parody of a genre while also being an enjoyable example of that same genre? Check. Magic? Check check. No necromancy yet but I can remain hopeful.

Edit, one of the devs told me there is necromancy in the game. I have yet to find it so I will poke around and see if it is any fun. Haha.

Amazing game on its own, definately 9/10, but when you start adding friends into the mix, the game gets to where you lose track of time, you mess around at the graveyard demolishing skeletons in a group, you start to sit there and build a whole village for yourselves and live out a great fantasy life, the game is well worth the price, it does have small hiccups, but most of it can just be chalked up as early development.
