Tale of Ninja: Fall of the Miyoshi is an okay action ninja game, despite its flaws. Alright let’s talk about the story. It’s the Sengoku period, the warring states era where small kingdoms rise and fall in an instant and the Miyoshi clan is such a group which has rapidly raised and dominates Kinki and Shikoku in just a few decades, but quickly declins in only just 10 years and this is how.

Now what are the likes, the gameplay is pretty good despite its bugs, in the game you must assassinate a member of the Miyoshi clan but how you go about it is completely up to you, like you can go in slashing and killing or you could take a sneaky approach and stealth your way in, you could even be a detective and gather information and talk to people in order to find other ways to complete your mission, I found that very good and felt very ninja-like. The story is good as it takes real events from history and plays it straight, there's no like supernatural elements or craziness it's just you're a ninja and you must complete your mission, it felt very realistic. I also enjoyed the little tidbits of history that was in the story.

The graphics are good with very good use of color and beautiful scenery that makes you want to stop and stare, the levels are very good and pretty diverse with plenty of nice detail and very good set pieces that captures the feel of old Japan. The characters are okayish, they don't really have personality they're mostly just, hey this is your character, they don't have a back story other than just they're a ninja.

Really there is no real difference to the characters other than one's a woman and one's a man, they can also be customized the same way as well, it wasn't bad I just felt it could have had a little bit more to it. The enemies and bosses were good each one with their own unique look and each type of enemy has their own attack, there are simple Samurai, there are spear wielders they're even rival ninjas and it all really captured the feel and look of historic Japan.

Now what are the dislikes, the game has a lot of bugs and I mean a lot of bugs, nothing really game breaking, but it can be quite frustrating like in one level I got these three keys to open a box, but when I tried to open it wouldn't let me open it even though I hid it multiple times. And on that same level I helped this thief and he gave me a key to go into the back door of the palace, but when I got to the back door and hit enter to let me in the back door wouldn't open no matter what I did, it's just stuff like that, that was really frustrating.

The game also should have had full controller support don't get me wrong playing with a mouse and keyboard isn't bad I just felt the game could have been better with full controller support, also having button mapping were you can choose which key does what was needed.

I also wish the two main characters you can play as also had a little more agency in the world, like maybe they have a backstory on why they're doing this or a personal grudge they want to settle. It doesn't have to be a big complicated backstory, just you know something that gives the characters agency.

Also I don't like when you beat the game there's no credits after beating the game, after beating the last level the game just ends, no credits, no fanfare I just think something more could have been done with that.

I also would have liked more weapon variety for the two characters like I mean we can only pick between two different swords and a few ninja tools that I barely use except for the thing that restored health and the noise maker, I felt like there could have been more done with it like maybe adding a bow and arrows or maybe caltrops, you know something to diversify the weapons a bit. Also the English dialogue feels a bit off like I don't know just doesn't seem to flow well, maybe it's better in Japanese but I feel like the English subtitles could have been better written

So with that said, Tale of Ninja: Fall of the Miyoshi is an okay action ninja game, despite its flaws. It has pretty good gameplay, a good story and good graphics. So do I recommend this game, yes I kind of do despite its flaws it's still an okay game and I feel like if the flaws were addressed the game would be even better. Plus the game’s like $5 so you're not going to really break the bank by getting it.

This game is horrible. I was itching for a Tenchu style game, but this game is barely playable. The controls are awful and the grappling hook is not functional at all - as you can see in the game's own trailer... it pulls you up, but you can't climb up from there... like in every other game with grappling. Just awful.

I expected this to be like Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. But somehow while being a relatively new game, it's worse than an old PS1 game.
I get that it's cheap. But... it feels cheap, you can't climb up walls, the rice buns heal you, they're not something to throw to distract an enemy. The cutscenes aren't in english and the tutorial messages block half the screen. It's... just not a good time to play this game. I will be honest, I did not give it a long chance. But that's just how bad this game was to play.

It feels worse to play, than an old PS1 game. A PS1 game, that wasn't exactly known for it's great gameplay, but rather it's awesome mechanics. That this game largely lacks.

If you are looking for Tenchu, you are not looking for this.

I should also note, the game does not run smoothly. My computer is way more than good enough to run a game like this, hell, Sekiro, Nioh and Elden Ring run good on my computer. This game? This game runs really badly.

If this was early access, I'd say absolutely, give it a go. But it's not, this looks to be the final release. The last news on it was a year ago. So I do apologise to the developer. But I have to recommend against your game.

It's not Tenchu, it runs poorly and it looks quite bad as well.

If you're after a good stealthy game, I recommend Styx: Master of Shadows. It's not quite the same, and the combat is really bad. But the stealth is pretty fun and the game has a nice story to boot. It's definitely better than this.

I've played a lot of amateur indie dev tat made in Unreal Engine 4. And this is tat. But it's ambitious tat and I love to launch myself with the grapple hook

There are a lot of things I can ignore and still enjoy the game but the one thing that is an ultimate dealbreaker - mouse controls. OH MY GOD. The looking around and etc with a mouse is almost as horrible as in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".

There are some kind of smoothing/ or lag/ or blur or etc that makes looking around and moving unbearable. Maybe some people like this, but not me. Could not play a minute longer.

Needs lots of work, but on the right track. Can't wait to see what the devs bring in.

I was originally looking for a game , Tenchu and this came up. It was alright - entertaining and will finish all maps. Hoping for fighting style improvements and more maps in the future.

Being a fan of the old Tenchu games on the Playstation 1 (particularly Tenchu 2) this game caught my eye after typing Tenchu in the store search. Looks like it has the potential to be a decent game.

I would like to see the developer rectify the invert camera option to include invert vertical and horizontal separately. I always invert the vertical axis in games I play but with this title it also inverts the horizontal axis which is quite jarring.

Thrown weapons are stuck in mid air after thrown at a foe. Also your character does a weird jump in the air when throwing a knife which makes no sense whatsoever especially for a stealth game.

I chose to thumb this game up as the above issues should be easily rectified and at the $7.50 price point, it's not looking too bad. Here's hoping the developer will sink a lot more polish into the game.

Was excited when this goes into store.. but hell..

Tenchu back in my days was way better than this.

Buggy controls, bad targeting system, my first attempt to hook put me on a stuck spot.

I like that there is a ninja game and thank you for that whoever, I think the game would be a great one to this list:
1- cursor lock(this one is a must)
2- unique animations that make feel like a ninja. I don't want to be rude, but right now a big proportion of the animations look like mobile to me.
3-controls:
1- full controller support.
2- free controls adjustments for keyboard&mouse and controller
some people are OK with the default controls and some are not I think this would satisfy all kinds of people
4- full translation.
5- full character customization, can't wait to see all the characters that people make!
6- character story and lore, please.
7- optional epic bosses would be cool, for example monsters & villains from Asian literature
8- a 4 or 8 player co-op mode. In this mode, I think of the bigger missions with multiple targets or one with an epic boss.
That's all for now, I understand what you are doing is quite the taxing work, therefore I say don't work yourselves too hard take it one step at a time.

This game sucks hard. The controls are awful, the character interactions are awful. Not even worth the $2.50 I paid on sale. Yikes. The levels are pretty, but that's IT. Steer clear. The game is unplayable.
