Honestly, this is one of the better of these interactive movie games that I've played so far. It has the same problems as the others; relatively predictive story, A or B choices only, Choices don't seem do make much difference, rather lousy CGI. But I will say that at the very least, the story was compelling and makes for what would be a good movie. 7/10

A Complex ... for Simpletons

Late Shift is not a game in its usual sense, it's an interactive movie with lots of decisions to make - unfortunately a bad one. If you like the story baseline in games from Quantic Games like Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls, or if you enjoyed intreactive movies like Late Shift, you might like The Complex, too. But I doubt it, because the aforementioned tend to be classy stories - this one doesn't even qualify as a B movie, imho.

Pros
+Nice score
+Your choices do matter in that sense, that you will see scenes and different developments according to your decisions

Cons
-it's debatable, whether this is a movie or a game; and if it's not the latter, is it worth the money? I would argue: No, no matter the category!
-the actors and actresses are mediocre at best, except for Clare, who does a good job and is believable
-the dialgue is abysmal! And I mean ABYSMAL!!
-you can tell the cut between different scenes due to a small portion, where the sound is muted for a short period of time; it's nothing too bad, but takes away from the immersiveness heavily
-there are several plot holes, that show how bad the writing is (you'll see, when you "play")

Rating for gamers: 0/10
Rating for everybody else: 2/10

My last Two Cents
The Complex tries to be an interactive sci-fi-y thriller movie, that lets you build your own story. But due to its many, many flaws it is nothing but a disgrace for the gaming and movie industry, that is not worth a penny of anybody's money; so stay away!

A really good interactive movie game. Choices matter and its fun to play through several times to get all the endings.

It has a very interesting story and i liked it but It seems like our choices are not effecting the story too much so it is more like a movie.

Loved the twist and turns of this and also all the 9 endings were mind bending!
Was fun trying to find out all the possible outcomes by choosing different outcomes!!!

First of all, this is a guided story. Secondly, there is no option of replaying a part of it. I got a neurotic ending, where Amy gets shot. It'd be cool if I could go back to see what happens when choosing otherwise without having to do it all from the beginning.

The Complex was my first interactive movie and I found it quite enjoyable. The story stays relatively the same, but your choices to affect the characters and there are nine possible endings.

The acting wasn't fantastic, but it was ok. The film quality was pretty good though you can tell they didn't use good stabilized cameras because there's frequently minor movement. I found the story interesting. It's about 90 minutes long and if you choose to replay it over for other choices/endings, you have the option to skip scenes you've already watched.

I would recommend it, particularly on sale when it's similar to the price of a movie rental.

The Complex is an interactive sci-fi thriller which I enjoyed playing through. The first time through the story will take an hour and a half to 2 hours (as is typical of FMV games), and then it's a case of using Tab to skip through scenes you've already seen before to see the alternate options to see the other endings. The acting is of a pretty good quality, the story is typical thriller fare which is almost unbelievable, but enjoyable if you're willing to immerse yourself in the story.

I'd recommend giving it a try!

It's a brief and enjoyable experience. Despite disagreeing with the narrative choice in the ending I got, I would happily recommend this to others who might enjoy FMV games.

Enjoy the story and able to skip viewed scene.

Just sad there is no perfect endings....

First time i play something like this and it's a cool approach to watching a movie.
For me Amy (Michelle Mylett) looks like Danielle Panabaker from The FLash (Killer Frost, Caitilin Snow).
Also everyone had super smooth skin, no zits or imperfections, it's crazy. Not sure if they just take very good care of their skin or it's some kind of post editing.

Good FMV game but I have beef with that random-ass jumpscare in the middle, complete tonal whiplash in the worst of ways

andr

Terrible acting, poor audio mixing between cuts (sounded like the music was a part of video clips), little choices, incoherent world and story.

The good: For an FMV game, the acting is decent. They clearly spent big bucks on props, costumes, and renting the set.
The bad: The game pretends to give the player agency with choices... but only the final choices matter.
The ugly: The story is riddled with plot holes. The diverging story paths are also not consistent.

Overall the game feels like a low budget B movie but the choices were interesting enough to keep my attention. I enjoyed the game and was genuinely engrossed in the game and in the story although I probably wouldn't have given it the best review had it been a film and not a game.

I would say probably the biggest turn off for people will be how short the game is. It took about 4hrs to unlock all achievements. That being said, game does allow you to skip the parts you already played, it also allows you to skip credits screen, both of which are welcome changes in the genre where others failed (I am looking at you Beyond Two Souls).

In terms of choices, a few of them do not seem to matter but if you want to unlock all possible outcomes, obviously most do matter. Honestly, I do wish there were even more endings to unlock.

If you have read some of the issues people experienced, well all I can say it I had none. Although one can argue that more characters and interactions would make the game more fulfilling, if you make your peace with its shortness (maybe you get as part of a deal as I did), you are more likely to enjoy its intensity.

Some complained about it but acting seemed fine to me. Game ran pretty smoothly, I had no issues. If you like the genre, then I would say give it a shot and hopefully you will enjoy it too.

Don't bother. I finished the game with a big feeling of "wtf did I just play?". It feels like the choices made didn't have much of an impact.

Tbf, I only played through it once - because it didn't even remotely seem interesting enough to play through again to get more information about it.

If you get it for free, go for it but otherwise your money is better spent on other games.

Wow! Very impressive on multiple games. Arguably Wales Interactive's best. Not the best FMV game but I will remember this game's plot and the decisions I made and the quality of the content.

Nerdy Neckbeard

this like so many other games and movies nowadays has amazing build up but fails to stick the landings.

the endings are all short lame and dull. most of them are nearly identical so much so that id say this game only has a bout 3 endings instead of the stated 9.

the endings are what realy let this down. the best way i can describe the endings is like this. imagine cooking 9 extremely interesting meals and then tossing them all in the bin when your done before going straight to bed.

its a shame. if the endings wher a more different and intricate and longer it could have been awesome. but its like havbing amazing dinner and your desert is a stale m&m that rolled under the car seat.

Don't waste your life / money on this one. As a game, the technical implementation is all right - it doesn't crash, I didn't encounter bugs and was able to complete the game. It's not possible to pause the movie portions and there's no save option so if you want to see all endings, you'll have to replay from the beginning. (You won't want to, trust me.)

Movie quality is decent and the music is passable. Some of the sets / props are decent; most are just ok.

Now for the negatives:

- Incompetent, idiotic writing. Kindergarten plays have more coherent, thought-out stories with fewer cliches. The whole thing is just so, so very stupid, it's really hard to describe it.

- There are more plot holes than story.

- The "science" is just... moronic. This goes hand-in-hand with the bad writing but as a sci-fi story (heavily focused on science), this is criminally bad.

- Acting ranges from mediocre to poor; I'd really prefer not seeing any of these actors in movies in the future. Everyone would be better off if they switched to other professions.

I liked the X-Files Game and Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within so it's not the genre (FMV game) that is the problem - this one is just really poorly done.

I could keep going but you probably see the pattern already. I played through once and couldn't get myself to try again. Do yourself a favor and avoid it.

Quite catchy story, good acting, multiple endings.
I would've liked a bit more tension and weight in the decision making, felt a bit anti-climactic...
Overall a nice one, 6.5/10.

That was good. The story was simplistic, but still engaging due to the good pace, good acting and likable characters. I got the Stalemate ending on my first playthrough, and despite its (obvious) disadvantages for pretty much all of the characters, it punctuated the "greater good" aspect of "my" Amy's philosophy quite well. I will probably replay this again in a few years to see a different side of her, Rees and the other characters. Overall I feel this was a really good FMV with a good length for interactive movies (~80 minutes).

Got this game as part of a bundle on sale. This was worth the sale price for sure. Played through 3x I like how you can skip scenes you've already seen. The acting was pretty decent, and the production was also decent. Over all a short experience that was entertaining and worth my time.

Playing The Complex is like watching an interactive made-for-TV medical disaster film, with all the lapses in logic that entails. The production values are decent enough, though there aren't very many branching options. Most decisions are binary and only affect which reaction video you see, after which the story continues unchanged. On the plus side, reaching any ending unlocks a skip feature for later playthroughs.

Get it on sale.

It feels more of a movie than a game, but the interactive aspect makes it more interesting than going to the cinema.
The visuals, cinematography and direction are all top-notch - far above any other interactive game I've seen.
The game-play however is the weak element.
I wasn't able to alter the volume of the music independently of the speech, so using a poor-quality set of headphones I could barely make out the speech over the music.
The game doesn't offer a save/load option, so there's no opportunity to start playing, then pause and pick up again along different paths, nor is there any option to fast-forward or roll back, as you would expect with an AVN.
Enjoyable, but demands a concerted period of time to sit down and give it justice.

I recommend this interactive movie only because it is just the right length and leaves good aftertaste.
Overall impression was good enough for me to by other similar games from the same publisher.
PROS
1. Interesting story, nice twists (no wow-effect though)
2. Good actors (mostly)
3. Excellent director and camera works.
4. 9 endings
5. Short.
CONS
1. Lead character cast and acting. Just "too cute". Too many "half-smile" impressions in situations when its not appropriate.
2. Some choices are tough, "life or death", but some feel irrelevant to the story, like "use hammer or screwdriver". But this may require additional playthroughs to confirm.
3. Short.

Some very good acting in this one. Also, great camera work and certainly not a low budget movie you would never watch again.

Not all choices matter, but some will for completionists. 9 different endings for example.

I liked this one, can only recommend. If you are an FMV game lover, make sure to check this out and also Late Shift.

Magia
Magia

It's alright, interesting enough. Acting is pretty good.
The way the choices are handled is not seamless at all, it's kinda irritating.
Weird cuts and the music fading in and out is not helping.
Story is your standard nanotech-nanocells impenetrable laboratory bullshit (Can you guess already?)
Choices also don't matter really just at the end.
I'm giving it a thumbs up because it was interesting for me, and I like these types of games, but Late Shift is so much better.

Premchand
Premchand

Better than i expected. Great acting and writing. Amy and Rees really had involved in the story. The ending, that i got at least. Just ends and "12 months later" shows nothing i really care about. Felt rushed.. and really doesn't do justice to the characters i cared about. Induced a similar feeling as GoT did for me. Quick and easy. But it ain't the only ending! And i don't mind starring at Michelle Mylett some more..

The Sacred Voice
The Sacred Voice

I did enjoy my playthrough of The Complex, but I wanted to like it so much more. The scenario has promise, but it's let down by a myriad of small mistakes that tar the experience. Let's break out the list:

- Characters have flip-flop style mood and relationship swings without any real warning, which makes it hard to know if you're supposed to trust a character that suddenly does an about-turn on their previous attitude towards you.
- One character meaninglessly withholds plot elements (even after they start telling you incriminating stuff) until the game needs to move the story forward. Furthermore they only half-heartedly and cryptically attempt to explain elements of their backstory, which makes it impossible to understand whether they're on your side or not, but they also don't really have any reason to be as cryptic as they are given the point the story's at.
- Another character voices their ethical opinion on something in a way that's portrayed as humane and kind, and it's done so in a way that feels very genuine and real. This same character then later reveals they're basically evil incarnate, but they still believe in their initial position somehow? There's definitely an argument to be made about how detached the character is to the latter ethics situation while the former is much more involved, so while both could be held by someone, the real issue is that the character's two positions aren't presented coherently enough to allow us to understand how they hold both at the same time.
- Another character has almost nothing to do with the organisation and yet is talked to as if they're intimately involved and have major authority over elements in play, which they clearly wouldn't do in the real world.
- I wasn't really sold on the protagonist's position in the story. She's presented as someone that's been through tough stuff and now she's a bit callous and dedicated to her work. She clearly has the chops to call the shots and be a leader type. It would make more sense for us to be watching her making decisions, rather than making them for her. With us making the decisions then she suddenly looks all indecisive and unclear, which I don't think would be the case for the kind of character she is. Indecisiveness works in other FMV titles like Late Shift (the protagonist is a relatively young person very much out of their depth) and Five Dates (the protagonist is dating, which is inherently awkward and there aren't necessarily easy, right answers), but it's a really bad look on a character like The Complex's protagonist.
- Furthermore, in one of the endings, the protagonist pulls (directly from her rear) a hitherto completely undisclosed major backstory element that you've been given no hint of up to that point and would've massively informed your decision-making throughout the story. And the really bizarre part is this backstory beat only exists BECAUSE of that ending. If you take another ending then that whole element of her backstory simply doesn't exist. What? The whole point of a character's backstory is that they're fixed before the plot as we see it takes place. Instead, The Complex decided it could just slip a new element in when it feels like and not have it be consistent across endings. Utterly bizarre.
- The story as told isn't super clear what the plot priority is at any given moment. When you start then priority A is a clear and pressing issue, but almost as soon as you get going on A then you're given priority B and A is basically abandoned, despite A being critical. I kept wondering "when're we going to get round to the very urgent A?" The story does provide a weak justification for this, but the timescale doesn't really add up in terms of how critical A is presented as and yet the situation seemingly doesn't get any worse when you're told earlier it will.
- You're presented with a few choices that're actually just made for you regardless of what you pick (presumably because the writers couldn't think of a way out of the path it would take you down if you were allowed to take it). Conversely, there were also some moments that felt like obvious opportunities for decisions that were never offered, I'm guessing production limitations cut these moments off at the neck.
- There's one scene where a character's dialogue straight up gets cut off mid-sentence by the scene after it.
- Pauses between conversation moments in general felt stilted in a lot of places.

On an individual basis, none of these are significant, but you're gonna be seeing one of these in most scenes and it really jars your playthrough. Overall, an okay FMV game, and I suspect the story and characters were decently developed in pre-production, but it just translated badly into the game.

Ownage Pwnage

This game was different.

If you've ever wanted a choose your own adventure game set in a sy-fy channel daytime B movie, this is for you. It's funny in the wrong ways, plot holes are consistently apparent, and characters often avoid doing something smart - just for someone to be able to explain it in dialogue later. My wife and I had tons of laughs. Seriously, if you want something cheesy but entertaining, check it out!

If you want a seriously produced and professionally written choose your own adventure game, I would recommend anything from Supermassive Games, Telltale, or Quantic Dream.

It also has apparently 9 endings, which is good, since it only took about 1:20 to finish the game. That being said, I doubt I will explore the other endings.

I played the game only for an hour and I got sick of the incompetence and just lazy writing of the game. I was willing to play this game of the strength of "Late Shift" but this has none of the qualities of that game. Every character is an idiot, the lead male of the game has dumb jokes that are not funny, and in the middle of a life or death scenario everyone is fairly casual and jokey with each other? No sense of urgency and also non of the decisions I was making felt like it effected anything. After only an hour I lost any interest in the characters or the story, so I am getting my money back.

At writing this review, i have completed 65% of the game. (as in achievements and and scenes) Really good story. Wanting more, and a great date night movie/game that anyone could play. acting is better than what i see in most blockbusters put out today. Could feel it.

Only negative i can really say about the game is the ever slight lag between scenes and audio oddities that pull you out of the game/ movie ever so slight. Literally nit picking. 9.5/10 for sure.

The game can be played in 1:20 h its very short but what you get its pretty good, the action for the most part is excelent and its well written.

You can get more out of the game by trying to get more scenes or endings but most just want 1 playthough, just buy it greatly discounted I

Recomended from me but heavly discounted its not worth the full price,

Good film that's certainly fun to play.
The film interaction is mostly major forks in the path of events so to my humble mind there should be more things to do to keep the player occupied. I think they should have added more trivial interactions.
Your standing with a person may have a major impact on what seems like a small decision, which makes the game unpredictable, surprising and fun.
It's ridiculously cheap, well worth the money even if you only play it through once!

The "game" is extremely boring. Don't be fooled by the playtime, I literally fell asleep and the game was on until the next day. I pushed myself since I read it would be over in about 90 minutes, and I was relieved once it was.

The story was okay and somewhat interesting. The game itself was kinda short though. It took me around 3 hours to get all the achievements. A big plus was the skipping option, so the other playthroughs were fast.

I would recommend buying the game when it's on sale.

Graphics and sound was really cool and realistic.

Jokes aside, acting was great. There is plenty of ending which you should your brain a little, which is is easy for me, also Amy is hot. And Amy' s partner is a great guy. I really love the personalities(and looking :) ). So visually and other ways characters was great. I really love it.

Vinnie Mack

Another interactive movie. If you hate this genre of gaming this product won't change your mind. Having only played two of these type of games, I am no expert. However I have watched thousands of films. As a film, it would be slightly above average. Maybe a B+ film. Good production, good acting, good story. Since I hate anything having to do with medicine, my opinion may be a bit skewed. But I am a fan of sci-fi, and this movie deals with technology gone wrong, a sci fi trope since Frankenstein. The tech this time is nanotechnology. Like the Borg.

The only real game element is choosing what the actor does on screen. There are lots of choices. Some involve people dying. Some involve nothing more than whether to answer a phone. These choices lead to 9 different endings and 196 scenes. My three hours of play allowed me to get 5 endings and over a hundreds scenes. This involved 5 play-throughs. The first one took an hour and a half. About what you would expect from a movie. The last one took 10 minutes thanks to the skipping game mechanic. The five endings are quite different. The extra scenes are not so different.

At this point I have lost interest in doing any more runs. I am having to wade through too much repetition to get to anything new. The game needs the chapter system used by Detroit: Become Human. In that game you see every pathway (the result is covered until you reveal it through game play). With this system in place the gamer could skip over having to redo the whole story every play-through.

Conclusion:

do you like movies? Yes? This is a movie with 9 different endings. May become tedious if played too many times in a row. May be overpriced if more than $10.

Basically an interactive B-movie. While an entertaining way to pass some time, I did have some problems with the storytelling and acting. Namely, the actor who plays the lead (Dr. Tenant) was so unbelievable as a doctor/scientist, it was laughable--I mean, she looks and talks like a 20-something model, so there's, um, no way she is some sort of leading expert in her field (do you KNOW how long it takes to get a Ph.D. or M.D.?). She's also been through a combat zone, and the actor looks like the worst thing that's happened to her is getting the wrong order at Starbucks. She's supposed to be a tough cookie, the grizzled scientist dedicated to her work above all else--they needed to get an older, more nuanced actor for that role (someone more like Sigourney Weaver in the Aliens series). TBH, Tenant came across as quite unlikeable and ignorant--a naive scientist who has no clue that the technology she's creating could destroy the world. The way the plot is set up, we're supposed to empathize with her and be on her side (not so much). The actor who plays Rees gave a better performance--he was a more interesting character, as was Claire, the tough-talking "Kundaran." It would have been a stronger effort had the entire story been told from the perspective of Claire, if they wanted to subvert the whole "white savior" narrative. It also wasn't greeeeaaaat that the native peoples mostly served as victims or bad guys, secondary characters to the white heroes. Yeah, that could have been done better. My other issue was simply on the level of galaxy-sized plot holes and lack of realism. Spoilery/plot thoughts: Like, nobody thought, "hey, nanites that can completely re-write human bodies to be stronger/healthier might be a bad idea, right? Like, has ANYONE seen any Resident Evil movies? No?" And the way they interacted with Claire, popping open her supposedly "sterile" pod, was laughable. I mean, the girl is full of dangerous nanites that could easily become airborne any minute, but yeah, let's hold her hand and WIPE BLOOD FROM HER FACE. Not dangerous at all." The masks they were wearing, too, had huge gaps--not exactly sealed (although I'm sure this was to keep them from fogging while filming). I know, I know, suspension of disbelief, but some of the plot twists were quite silly. Like, Rees just happens to be an expert hacker who can hack into any system at will (because: plot demands it). Also, why on earth did the bad guys TAKE OFF THEIR HELMETS while inside a VACUUM CHAMBER that could be turned back on at any time? And why, while suffocating, didn't they simply go back and retrieve the helmets they'd tossed on the ground? And, now that I'm thinking about it, what's with only having one "master" nanite set, inside Claire, that can't be replicated or reproduced? Why couldn't Tenant simply recreate her original experiment and create more? Once the technological cat is out of the bag, it seems like anyone could reproduce the nanites to do all sorts of nefarious things (see: Zombies). It was also kinda funny that the Kundarans are supposedly native peoples living in a "village," and yet, in one flashback scene, they're sitting in a park having a picnic, dressed like L.A. hipsters hanging in Griffith Park on a Sunday. Oh, and can I suggest that a "heat flash" strong enough to incinerate human flesh AND BONES would also, you know, melt a gun, or at least explode the bullets? But I digress. Despite the laughable, B-movie elements, however, I enjoy the occasional interactive movie (check out Bandersnatch on Netflix, if you want another good example of this genre). It reminds me of the "choose your own adventure" books I used to read as a kid, and I like to have a break from my usual type of game, from time to time.

Kind of enjoyed it, but it's not very good in terms of operators work and keeping you in a flow. A bit boring. Doesn't looks like very professional work, only few actors are really good. Slow-paced movie shot almost fully in one scene. To each it's own, but for me it was okay. Not bad, not good, just okay.

awesome little game. short and sweet, but wish there were more games like this. I can see how this might be like entertainment of the future movies, where you shape the story with your choices instead of just being a spectator. want to play through again to see all endings. one more thing to note. I love detroit, the fully cgi game, but there's something special about the live acting. highly recommend.

there is no medium vote but if you reverse the % you get the idea.
This was ok, had its moments, but buy it when its 90% off, its A interactive movie short, prototype virus yadda yadda ...Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie, NOO get away. rrAAAAAAgh iam ill now arrrrgh this corperate corruption packages us to the enemy as consumerism eats it self and the distracting disruption of the power of ignorance reign stupmeme
...and that was just the devs on the way to making it!
default settings has timer playing over choices, pretty pointless and joyless id have to maintain contact with my mouse, unfortunatly it gained distemper from this experiance and kept threatning to bite wich wouldve released a deadly virus into the populous, so had to turn it off, the setting not the mouse.. its in the lab smoking medical maharajah totally stoked!

I Like it but the main character would never be a in this postion her voice fry makes her seem like a IG Model and the people running the company lets say would never lol, bad casting my issue and when scenes switch audio drops a big loss in immersion.

As said in other places, this is a "game" like no other you've likely experienced. With that in mind, getting right to the point, I recommend you at least this game, especially if it's on sale. Compare it's price to that of a movie you'd buy elsewhere.

This "gamvie" has about nine endings, both good, bad, and in-between, which is nice. Relationships actually do matter significantly at times, which was surprising considering the length of it. After playing it through once, having the TAB option to skip to the next significant scene quickly made it much nicer to run thru again. There are also a couple of plot twists that might make it worth it for you to play thru a second or third time. For a short production, the writer(s) did a good job squeezing all the essentials in to make this work.

All of the primary actors do a very good job. Though I noticed a couple of the typical royalty-free sound effects, the special effects are not reasonably lacking in any way.

It's okay-ish. The technical aspects of the moviemaking is done well and the setting is good. But the acting is pretty cringey at times. The lead woman feels like being hired more for her big eyes than her acting skills and doesn't pull off to make her character likeable. She seems too young and cute to realistically have this kind of responsibility her character apparently possesses. Possible? Sure, but i'd expect her character to be visibly more in charge and a much more driven personality. Alas, blinkey eyes girl more often looks like a deer caught in the headlights.

Furthermore in the first 15 minutes all male characters are stereotyped as little more than superficial douchebags while all women seem to be troubled victims by said douchebags, which isn't a great motivation to go on. It just doesn't shout mature story telling. Finally a uni-sex locker room scene felt so forced, i had enough. That scene was stupid on many levels.

The game aspect of the game is also not very convincing. Interactivity comes down to deciding 50:50 chances and the choices feel quite arbitrary at times. I didn't feel like i had necessary info to make these decisions. At times it's not even clear what's at stake.

What's left is a underwhelming pharma thriller which hardly profits from a tucked-on choice system. 5/10 from me.

I recommend this game. The story is very apt for our virus, bacteria, bio-weapons, nano-technology etc., times. The setting and scenes are realistic and even historical. Poor populations in far flung countries have been used in experiments in the past, callous and shameful and unconscionable as it is. The big pharma companies have made billions, more than at any time in history, with Covid-19 vaccines. This is really BIG BUSINESS. The choices made are significant for the story line and the development of the main character's personality. The game ran smoothly, sound and graphics were very good. I find it offensive that some reviewers criticise the main character for her youth and looks, and liken her to a porn star. Many young tech entrepreneurs are very youthful, although mostly male, so this criticism does not hold. I reached a stalemate so will play again. Personally I enjoyed the game a lot and would recommend that others play it too.

I would call The Complex an interactive B-movie.

The technical aspects of filming is done well and the setting is good and well set up for success, but the acting is pretty cringe at times and the emotion that the actors should express doesn't always fully come through the screen. The main character was also not very believable as a doctor/scientist and neither as someone who has worked on a battlefield. It felt like she was a deer caught in headlights at most times and her personality was quite weak.

The actor who plays Rees gave a somewhat better performance, he was a more interesting character and was also great comical relief. Claire, the tough-talking "Kindaran" was also a very interesting character and she was probably my favorite. It would have been a stronger effort had the entire story been told from the perspective of Claire.

Honestly speaking, I think this was a decent FMV game and an attempt was made for an interesting story, BUT I don't think I will recommend this game, since there are other way better FMV games out there. Still, if you do decide to play the game, definitely don't get it at full price.

The whole game takes about 2 hours to complete, and it was a shore.

I got this because I liked Contradiction, and The Complex seems to promise something on the same lines, but it doesn't deliver.
Contradiction is a grounded, relatable and compelling story, that gets you in the shoes of the protagonist, while this is a very cheap and simplistic SciFi full of plot wholes, bad writing and such bad acting that some characters make me cringe.

Mind you that all this "positivity" is looking at the whole thing as a movie, as a game it's just terrible. All relevant aspects are out of control, scenes between interactions are huge and the choices don't carry much weight.

I'm a fan of SciFi, even some of the worst I still find entertaining. I love Aventure/Point and Click games, even when they are not great. Still, this is really, really bad. No idea why people recommend, but maybe there are better scenes in options I didn't take? Metacritic says 62, which still feels too high to me.

I hope the two leads get better projects in the future.

Interesting interactive movie. The story (one arch) can be finished within 2h. Unfortunately that is not enough time for me to build any sort of sympathy for either of the characters. However the setting is intriguing and mechanics worked very well. Good video and acting quality.

I can recommend the actionplay but as a healthcare professional there are lots of mistakes and problems about lore in general. However tis kind of games should be supported if they are even avarage. You can buy it if you have money or if it is on sale and play at least one run.

Cant believe that this is from the same makers of Late Shift, I've seen porn with better story lines and VFX than this, also the visible jumps between scenes after you make a choice is irritating and lazy.

Go buy late shift if you are in the mood for a decent FMV.

Nance Anchen

Kinda on the fence about it.
On one side, it's a pretty decent FMV game and I liked it a whole lot — enough to go for all endings and all achievements (and yeah, with an option to skip the already viewed scenes, it took me less than five and a half hours). I also liked Amy and Clare.
On the other, right now, when I'm trying to write a review, I can't really say that anything in this game really stood out to me. Despite the plot, it doesn't feel really tense. None of the characters, though interesting enough, was any more than just likable. Most of the supposedly big plot twists were expected. All in all, it is neither cold nor hot, and I really wish it was one or the other.
I did have a good time, though. Maybe buy it on sale? Or in a bundle.

Just saw another reviewer said they had seen better story in porn, and I believe it. Skip this one. I didn't even mind the acting and scenes shown, they had a lot of potential, but the plot holes and the blatant errors...

Everyone has seen how to wear a nasal cannula in movies. Removing the IV with the needle still in the cannula to stick the middle of the palm? Drawing blood from the cannula with a needle and syringe? It takes 5 min to go to youtube and see how an iv is placed, and it's a highly complicated way to show a needle stick. You didn't have to show it!

Even if you don't know medicine, it's about a 'plague' or 'infectious agent', they should have dome some research!

The game is the frayed end of a too-thick rope. All kinds of scenes with no connection and no resolution. I was incredibly disappointed because I was looking forward to this one.

The Complex sabe exatamente que história quer contar.

If the story is relatively forgettable even in its more ridiculous possible permutations, it’s the dialogue which truly sinks much of the promise; chock full of cringe-worthy attempts at humour that evoke an undeniable “straight-to-video” vibe, and that’s when it’s not busy piling soulless, robotic exposition on top of the player/viewer.

My first run through the game took around 75 minutes, while racking up a few repeat runs and discovering most of the available content brought that up to around three hours, though my interest – and, I imagine, that of most players – had tapered off a good while before that. The Complex is desperately lacking the narrative meat necessary to support its promising presentation, so only the most ardent FMV game fans need apply.

If it was a bit more mature in some areas this could have easily been a 10/10,still it's worth picking up on sale, good story albeit held back a bit.To put bluntly it's like a B rated movie except you do the fucking up instead of the characters in the movie so you can scream at yourself )
