The game is very charming and cute but without depth, especially concerning considering it's price. I believe I got this in a humble bundle but otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought this game. For the asking price it can be completed in it's entirety in just under an hour which is a bit ridiculous. For the right price however the game is really good, a short sweet adventure about memory and family which is also quite visually pretty.

It's a sweet, well animated, exploration game.

Very enjoyable VR experience. Does a great job of capturing that child-like magic of playing with toys and using your imagination - except in this you *don't* have to use your imagination because it's right there in front of you!

Only a short game (about 1 hour), but the puzzles are a decent difficulty - nothing too tasking, but still requiring you to stop and think for a few minutes and thoroughly examine the environment for some of them.

It's light on story, but is told from the perspective of a loving grandfather to you, the grandchild, and mentions a passed grandmother, which I suppose may be a trigger for some so fair warning! That being said, it is a very heart warming story albeit thin on plot so might be worth powering through for the feels, even if they might be happysad.

Overall, I'd say £12 is a bit steep for such a short experience, but for all its brevity it certainly isn't lacking in quality and is a style of game that lends itself well to VR.

This game is like a pixar short. It's very succinct, polished, and charming, I don't think most people would argue otherwise.

The price is the concern. It feels like 5 levels of a full game. The question is whether that is worth the price of admission in your eyes. Even at its low cost, I believe this is too expensive. The score that you see will largely be based not on how good the game is, but how many people can overlook the length and still review the game positively.

Similar to The Gardens Between.

Buy it.... on sale.

Not a huge amount of content here for the asking price perhaps, and being aimed at younger players seemingly the puzzles are relatively easy too, more about searching around / prodding everything. (It’s still possible to get stuck at the odd obtuse solution, having breezed through the prior though).

It’s still pretty cute for all that, both visually and conceptually. And it made me giggle with at least one set piece in each of the later levels :)
Suffers a touch from the VR potential slope, in that once you can clear snow with a hand drier, or rustle leaves from a tree, you half expect to be able to physics-interact with everything. (I can see they didn’t have the budget to embrace this though, or to disentangle any novel and trollish interactions from the actual solutions). Anything not related to the solution tends to bounce playfully or just fall off the map when prodded.

The narrative of revisiting some grandchildren’s old play haunts is a bit of a missed beat, focusing on squabbles but deployed via a cloying / hammy voiceover from the grandparent. Does have a minor payoff by the end though.

All told, alongside the Wintergatan music, a pretty genteel way to spend an evening though ;)

This may be a rather short game taking around 2 hrs to complete but it is a very well polished and thoroughly enjoyable VR game. A lot of love and attention has gone in to making this game and I really enjoyed it. There is a little life lesson to be noted throughout the game.

Although it is short I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a casual VR experience that is very well done.

Curious_Kat

A very short (1.5 hours including all optional content) cute game with simple interactions and puzzles. It gives enough context clues and signposted actions to have no challenge.

I recommend it as a short romp between meatier adventures.

TCTotST is short family-friendly toy-like game similar to GNOG. You get to explore 5 VR dioramas with lots of interactable objects and few very casual puzzles.
It looks and sounds very cute and the gameplay is chill and relaxing, but in my opinion GNOG is much better game in this niche genre: it's longer and got more complex puzzles than TCTotST.

Fantastic short little game that is perfect for introducing people to VR. The narration/story is a bit too cutesy for my taste, but the whole game is very beautiful indeed. Expect about 60-90 minutes of playtime for 100% completion.

Comparable game: A Fisherman's Tale. I think the Venn diagram of people who liked A Fisherman's Tale and those who like this game is basically a circle.

Just finished the game and I have to say, it's lovely. I found all the pets etc, but I'm not an achievement hunter so didn't bother trying to figure out the extras. Maybe I'll go back to it some day. I loved interacting with the animals and how cute the whole game was.

Incredibly well done game, the puzzles are creative, and the setting is well-detailed. However, it took me 45 minutes to beat. Dollars to playtime isnt there, but i'd like to see more VR games like this

Short little cute search game for all ages. Sometimes it requires a bit of searching, especially for the coins. Mechanics are easy to find and puzzles are relatively easy to solve. It feels however that the game is more focused for parents and their kids to play. Still a fun little VR gem.

Storywise is "okay", graphics looks cute and there is enough to do. Finished the game in 1.2 hours, with all pets founds and 35/42 coins.

I am so surprised by how heartwarming this game is. The designs are cute, and the puzzles are inventive. The story really drove me forward, though. I noticed a lot of parallels between this story, and events in my own life. Needless to say, I was a bit teary-eyed towards the end. This game was an enjoyable, and emotional experience. I highly recommend giving it a try. Especially while it's on a great sale! :-D

This game really made me tear up. I just lost my grandfather and this game made me miss him so much! The graphics are awesome like a disney 3D miniature film that that you interact with. The puzzles are on the easy side but the narration really sells it as well as the setting. It's super short but a game like this doesn't really need to be long as I suspect you will get tired of it pretty quickly. VR just makes the theme of it being a dream with your grandfather just hit the heart strings so bad especially if you are close with your grandparents like I am. So glad I picked this up as one of my first VR titles, it's relaxing and makes use of VR in a way that is different from the usual first person perspective.

It's cute and I could recommend it to kids, but the average VR player should just pass this one by.

It's incredibly short for the price, there isn't a compelling story, and neither are the puzzles that interesting. There is no hint system. Wasn't very impressed by the voice acting, the script, or the music. I would say the gameplay is closer to that of a hidden object game rather than a true puzzle game. The only thing I liked was the cute aesthetic of the game.

This is a pretty game with a loose narrative to give a bit of purpose to exploring the puzzles. It is a hidden object game with puzzles used to unlock mechanisms withing the levels. If you find it on sale it is a neat experience, but very short. It has similarities to "Down the Rabbit Hole" in that you manipulate dioramas to work through the game.

This was in the Steam VR bundle 4 pack. Never heard of it before that. Its a kids game, but its fun. When I first started playing it, the worlds were spinning constantly and I couldn't control or stop it. Looked it up and turns out my flight sim yoke/throttle were causing it. Unplugged them and fixed it. Seems fun, actually some challenging puzzles. Good if you are new to VR. fun/simple game

A fun short little VR experience. This is good for anyone that likes a short dip into a game. The music and story line are nice. The puzzles aren't particularly hard, and thats fine by me. Its a balanced game for what it is, a relaxing immersive VR experience. I don't always want an in-depth game like Alyx or an physical game like beat saber. This is a perfect fit in-between.

This is all I was hoping for in VR gaming.

Freedom_Eagle

This game is charming and the environments are pleasant, but is is very short and the puzzles are relatively simple. Difficulty is about child level, and this could be a decent game for a family. I do have issue with the price though. For it being so short I think I would consider ~$5 a reasonable price for this. If you're looking for a fun, chill little game you can beat quickly and isn't too challenging then I might recommend this, but otherwise I'd say look at other puzzle games first.

Besides a couple hidden achievements I have beat the game in about 2.5 hours. Although it was a fairly short game, I really enjoyed my time spent playing it. The mini-worlds are very well designed, the story is thoughtful, and the music adds a great atmosphere. I played seated and it was a very comfortable experience. Definitely recommend this one especially if it is on sale.

An adorable hidden object/ puzzle game. You basically solve small puzzles around a themed world you can rotate to reveal hidden pets. The graphic art style reminds me of the old frosty the snowman claymation specials. The music fit the game well and the narration was great. I enjoyed it very much and it kept me smiling till the very end. A great game to uplift you and relax to.

Not the hardest game on the planet, but it's super cute and relaxing to play and has an actual message to the player. Nothing ground breaking, but a topic often overlooked in games.

It's a short game, but worth every cent.

Cute little puzzle game. Animation and art style is what sells this game. Solutions to puzzles might be a bit obtuse, so I found myself interacting with everything in each "world" in an attempt to solve the puzzles more often that I wanted. It's enjoyable for what it is.

Bananni Kablammy
Bananni Kablammy

Wonderfully charming little game! I got this as part of The Wonder of VR Bundle when it was 65% off, so with four games total, this came out to about $6.50 per game! (also includes Moss, A Fisherman's Tale, and Down the Rabbit Hole)

The narration is just enough and flows nicely with the gameplay. Pretty much everything is reactive to your touch in some way, and the sound effects and animation are really cute. There's not really any replayability, but I think this would be a great title to show off to your friends if they've never experienced VR before! The short "story" is full of nostalgic whimsy, and the ending filled me with a bunch of warm fuzzies. If you're an adult that has any type of inner child and still enjoys stuff like the new Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks movies or enjoys looking at dioramas or miniatures, then this may tickle your fancy.

This is the first game of this type I've played in VR (previously played Tetris Effect, Rez Infinite, Beat Saber, and Pistol Whip), and now I'm super looking forward to the other games in the bundle if they're anything like this one. Highly recommended, especially with the recent price drop, and even more so if you can get it as part of a bundle or sale like I did. I played this on my Quest 2 through Virtual Desktop, but I may pick this up on the Oculus store as well just to support the devs and so I can take it to my friends to show off.

I really hope the studio comes out with more games like this or more levels later on; their attention to detail and the amount of love and care put into this game is really fantastic.

Got through this collecting all coins and pets in about 2 hours, so this is very short. Having said that, it's a very cute game requiring a keen eye and sometimes experimentation. Getting some pets requires a bit more thought and I found myself stuck a few times. Tons of interaction with the world gripping, dropping, and turning.

It's not too hard or easy either, good for kids & adults.

Dhannor

I enjoyed the game. The playtime is about one and a half hours. The narrator's voice is good but the story unfortunately is not. It tries the nostalgic emotional card but without any knowledge of any the characters so you have no emotional response to it since there is no connection and that makes it feel like the narrator is whining. And that completely misses it's intended goal.

The leveldesign on the other hand and the creative use of VR are outstanding. I would seriously recommend this software house to make more games of this type.

We bought this for my daughter and her first VR set. She loved it and even my wife and I played it. It is VERY good little game. The only down side is we wished there were more levels but hopefully they make a longer, and bigger game like this next!!! Well done!

TruckFace
TruckFace

Oozing with charm, this is an adorable little game with a cute "story" about reconnecting with a sibling. As others have said it's quite short, but if you can get it on sale, or as a part of a bundle, it's a no brainer. Value can be increased if you have kids, as the puzzles are fun enough for adults, but easy enough that a kid could figure it out as well.

Sqwishee
Sqwishee

I really loved this game. It was beautiful and had such a great little story. You explore these little worlds as they are memories of your childhood with your sister and grandfather. Your mission is to solve various puzzles to find the missing pets within each level. It was super cute and I also really enjoyed the music, as it was done by Wintergaten who I have been a long time fan of. It was super surprising to his his name come up and, for me, his music added the perfect touch of whimsical and childlike sound without being overbearing or annoying. My only complaints are that I wish the game was longer. I completed the entire thing within an hour to hour and a half. Also, there were points that I got really stuck and wish there was an option for a hint or something. Especially when it came to finding all the coins. Overall I would recommend this game to anyone and everyone. It was definitely worth the money I spent on it and I know that I could easily introduce friends to it when they come over.

Quite surprisingly a very delightful game to play; it really exceeded my expectations.
The game features puzzles to be solved which are very well made.
Visuals and sound are both excellent. (Features music by Wintergatan)
It's a short game; around 3 hours or so.
Would easily recommend this game.

Played with HTC Vive Pro Wireless/Index controllers/RTX 2060super.

This is a very beautiful game, and lots of fun, although pretty short (playing time is including fixing a technical problem and checking one walkthrough for the final level, so actual playting time is more like 1.5 hours.
I really the graphics, the puzzles are great too (only had difficulty with the very last as I didn't check the hat.
I bought it when it was on sale for 3,49 euro's and I think that's certainly a price it deserves, I would even suggest it being on sale at 5-6 euro's to be a very nice price.

Only technical problem I had was that it kept spinning without me doing anything, but it was due to my 3Dconnection software (for my space mouse pro) running in the back that made it keep spinning. And others have the same problem when their joystick with rudder is connected.

I highly recommend this game, I hope they have more like these.

Games cute, light puzzles, nice message about family, even though things may not be perfect you still are one. I expected something else.
The mini worlds look nice and cute.
However they are less interactive then I expected.
The "puzzle" is you looking around and moving your hand around the environment untill something reacts;
- hold your hand on a couple of buttons to unlock someting
- if you don't move your hand over the correct bushes; a sparcle will appear to guide you in the right direction, where a coin will apear.

I only looked at the first world (looked nice), but got bored and stopped. Hopefully the other worlds (/paintings) have more variation in the "puzzles".

P.S. stand in the correct place when starting the game; otherwise the menu might apear outside your playspace.

Despite all positive reviews, I won't recommend it to anyone above 10 years old.

UniMaximal
UniMaximal

The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets is a very simple, but especially charming 'puzzle' game. It's short, clocking in at around an hour for a 100% clear, and sweet. I do recommend this game, particularly at the $4 pricetag it has during the Steam Summer Sale 2022.

The story was essentially there just to explain the world designs and not much else, aside from the true ending. SPOILERS: The main character is dreaming about their childhood and is revisiting memories from years prior by traveling to these vignettes. The pets are all creatures the MC imagined with their Sister or ones that they spent time with in real life. The voice of the MC's Grandfather is, essentially, their subconscious mind telling them to reach back out to the MC's Sister. The MC thought their Grandfather and Grandmother played favorites and, as such, drifted apart from the Sister after a bunch of silly, pointless childhood quarrels. It's a really simple story and feels like a fable meant to teach children to be more patient with each other or something. It's easily digestible for kids and is quite boring for adults.

There are hidden coins in every level and some of them were a bit tricky to find. Some required using level mechanics, such as the hair dryer, in order to be revealed for pick-up.

The artstyle of this game is lovely. The characters are all stylized in this kind of clay aesthetic, like little fellas you could make out of Play-Doh or something along those lines. Looks a lot like those clay Pokemon cards. The levels are a tad more complicated in terms of texture work and look quite nice.

Lots of the levels have features that the player can interact with. Some of these features don't do anything in terms of gameplay. It's nice that the developers added in little bounces when you pet a creature or have one of the human characters get startled when you poke at them. You can knock berries off bushes, move submarines, etc.

Poopfeels
Poopfeels

None of the reviews I've seen or descriptions on the store page make it clear enough that this is 90% hidden object, 10% child level puzzles.
I was expecting way more of an interactive puzzle game, but this is overwhelmingly a hidden object game with some really easy interactivity that in my opinion is nowhere near enough to call this primarily a puzzle game.

You rotate (the admittedly gorgeous) dioramas and look for objects you can somehow interact with. Once an object like this is found, you then look for another object or objects on which you can use it on.
I've encountered a small handful of simple puzzles, but the majority of my time in the game was spent just looking for stuff. Not my kind of game at all, very boring.

The other thing that really got on my nerves was the extremely overbearing and self indulgent narration that took control from you and forced you to just sit through it until it was done between every single level transition. They were clearly aiming for some Pixar's Up level of feels but it was way too much, way too obvious, way too boring and trying way, way too hard to be so very earnest.

I wish Steam had a neutral rating. It's only worth it if you get it on sale for less than $5. I completed the game in 1.5 hours and the majority of the gameplay was just clicking randomly on things until something happened. Very few of the puzzles required much thought and I got so bored the first time I played it, that I had to quit and complete it on another day even though it was only 1.5 hours long.

This game is fairly simple but quite cute and fun. It is very short (only about an hour and 10 minutes including all coins) and the puzzles are kinda easy, but it's also wholesome and relaxing with a unique concept. Makes me happy.
Overall, I'd say wait for a sale because it's not much content for $9.99 but I got it on sale for $3.99 and I think that's a very good price for it. It's worth checking out, at least.

It is extremely short (about an hour if you're not trying to get all the coins) but extremely cute game, where you explore cute worlds and solve small simple puzzles to find missing pets. It is a game that you can let your small kid play, but also that you can play yourself to experience that joy of simplicity. Also has really good soundtrack by Wintergatan - nothing new I think, you most likely heard these tracks if you listened to them ever, but still very welcome
