does anybody has a list of decks for this game?
yeah, I know I can make my own but I find it boring and hard to make one that works
I found a website on the internet but this game isn't the same thing as the real card one
thx in advance

This is a great varied deck game based on Lord of the Rings. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan and find many of the games lacking the feel of Middle Earth or staying true to style and content of the books, I find this is the best game in some time to achieve this well.

Firstly, when you buy the game it comes with all cards in it and all campaigns. There is no paying for extra cards using real life cash. However, you start with a base set of cards and can unlock cards by earning in game points. This works well as it gives a sense of progression in terms of your decks, and means even if you fail a campaign, you may gain enough points to improve your deck.

Pros:
- Great variety in quests/campaigns. Its not just about combat, there is fate system and objectives in each battle. The style and method to win varies and you will find yourself tweaking your deck and play style to suit. This keeps the game fresh and interesting.
- The decks and cards - lots of good heroes and cards to use and unlock. There are types of cards but I refer to them as their colours (red, blue, green, purple etc). Depending on which colour a hero is (you can take 3 per deck), dictates what cards you can select. If you have two of one colour in terms of hero it unlocks cards more in that colour's specialism. This leads to a lot of nice variety and options in decks
- As mentioned before, this feels like Lord of the Rings in terms of lore and style. The stories are decent enough and interesting
- In mission events really can add to the fun and difficulty.
- Hard enough to be a good challenge (if you don't play on standard)
- New owners who plan to add new content and campaigns. They already altered one aspect where if you lost one mission inside a campaign it always set you back to the very start. This was very challenging. Now you can retry a failed mission from the state you started it in. This is a better way for the game to work as, while I liked the harsh challenge from before, it did put you off playing at points.

Cons:
- Like most deck games, there are cards and hero's which become a must have like Arwen but its not that bad and you can succeed with many different decks
- The menu system is a bit clunky and not nice to use. Feels like it was made more for a touchscreen device. However, in game is absolutely fine so this is a very minor gripe.

Overall: This is one of my favourite buys from 2020

I enjoy the feel of the game over all. It's very Lord of the Rings and flows very nicely for game play. With the music and the voice work for the narratives that pop up the game has a nice flavor and Tolkien-ish vibe that keeps bringing me back to play over and over again.

The game is not bad but i wish it was closer to the card game, with the same rules, the same card, the same 'look'. i knew pretty well my card but in that game all is different.

So far, I really enjoy this game and I recommend it to every card games enthusiasts and/or Tolkien's fans. There is some awkwardness to it though, and it might not be for everybody.

The good:
++ The Tolkien's lore is really well integrated in the gameplay mechanics and in the multiple texts and story elements. It reminds me a bit more of the Hobbit (the book, not the awful movies) and less about TLOTR
++ A lot of gameplay variety. You create your own combinations of 3 heroes from a pool of 20, and build your deck of 30 cards around those heroes. Decks feel much more unique than in any card game I played previously
+ Art is good, but glitches and awkward UI will take your attention from it. Concept art in menus is better than the gameplay art.
+ Story is well narrated and the writing is not bad, but not great either in my opinion. It is the best I have seen in a card game except maybe for Gwent
+ Music is good, but repetitive after some time

The cons:
- No real choices in the campaign except for some rare options pick which does not influence anything in the long term (pick card A or card B). I would have liked to make important decisions. Go through the Moria or over the Caradhras? Save a village at the risk of losing the orcs you are pursuing? This kind of things.
- UI is awkward at best. You will see UI popping in and out of existence, I had light bugs where the goal of my quest would not display. The main menu is completely awful and should be started from scratch.
-- Tooltips are non-existent. Sometimes, you encounter keywords and have no clue about what they mean. There is a glossary in the options, but it feels like hovering a card should extend a tooltip about its effects.

Very fun game. different from the physical card game but has the same familiar feel. I am not sure how much content it has. Released 2 years ago, at first glance it seems to not have a ton of cards. But I do feel as though I already got my moneys worth. And it is a very fair price. Really hope to keep seeing more content released.

Unlocking cards after purchasing feels a bit odd but fun to play if you are into LotR. Quests are very immersive, just like the original card game. The game is missing a lot of cards though, they are taking it quite slow.

The game is made for both teenage and mature audience. It's intellectually stimulative for a single player and community friendly with cooperative mode which is cross-platform. It was developed with much care and respect to the Tolkien's work, with good story-telling, nice artwork, voice acting and so on. Game mechanic is a bit complex in the beginning, but with learning the satisfaction of playing and understanding the game only rises. Campaign, various other modes and expansions are well made. They have a very good replayability even for single players using offline mode - and I barely started the campaign with many hours still to go! Deck building is fun and interesting because of different styles of play, choosing from a great pool of cards (of at least 22 Heroes and over 200 or 300 cards). It's fun unlocking and discovering new cards, various cosmetics or Sauron's card gallery. New in-game features and content are coming in near future updates. The game is both a nice start and additional experience in exploring the Middle-earth. Hence it is a must have for fans of Tolkien as well as very much enjoyable to the lovers of card games and board games. Considering the amount of prices which are spent on free-to-play (card) games, especially mobile games, and mainly on some temporary premium season pass or bonuses or cosmetics, the current version (1.5.0 from January 2021) of the Definitive Edition for the full price which can be even found on 50% discount - is a bargain because it is an above average and complete product. The publisher and developer deserve it due to sheer amount of dedication, future updates, positive interaction and feedback from the community.

The game offers a lot of fun! It differs from the board game, but it is still mantains most elements and strategy. You can pick your heroes, build your deck and confront Sauron in 3 campaings and some extra misiions and challenges as well. 3 levels of difficulty (normal, advanced, nightmare) I tried the advanced level and the game was rather challenging in most quests.

I would insta-buy more content.

Thumbs up for this game!

Asmodee Digital and Anithero Studios combine their efforts in tackling the CCG market with this fun filled digital representation of Tolkien's classic Epic. As an admirer and player of many collective card games. The one thing I have always enjoyed was the turn based quality and execution of some of the best card games in the world. I took a very fast look at this game in action and my first impressions were quite surprising and found some things that may need to improve
What I liked:
It's Tolkien alright: The voices, the narration, the wonderful artwork, card styles and play style is all the Lord of the Rings classics. Reminded me of when I read these tales to my kids. Well done.
Aesthetics: The look and feel is middle earth as well from the magic, the guards, themes, and even the terminology is all Rings. If you love Tolkien's classic you will admire the beauty of the presentation they have done. Story, Art, Voices, Characters all there for your enjoyment.
Terminology: Once you go through the tutorial, learn the different aspects of the game and you need to pay attention. You get a clean grasp of the base concept enough to build your own decks.
Base: Its a great start to many expansions down the line.
Simple Card Turns: You go, he goes in one turn movements. Child's play
Animation: Nice sounds and effects to each executed card.

What I feel can improve in time:
UI: The layout threw me off a bit and I found navigating at times to be a little difficult. Though you can highlight a card. Its text should be much larger and dynamic for the eye impaired. I sometimes felt lost which could be confusing to the young.
Mechanics: It's not their base system and card flow that I have issue. I warn that future expansions with too many mechanics could unbalance things.
Depth: It is priced well with a good amount of content for that price and it was also nice to see them not do a CCG pay to win style game. However, it leaves you wanting much more and that is good if they add much more. Otherwise you feel a little thirsty.

Anti Hero Studios does a wonderful job with the Lord of the Rings CCG. Great hard work in its story that sticks to the great epic novel. There is a lot to like for the 'base' template introduction. If you love Lord of the Rings, then you will enjoy the CCG and in time I am sure it will be built on with great passion and care. See the video game play before laying down the mead. A pleasant surprise and a nice start. My Grade 3.7 out of 5

Hello everyone,

I tried this game after playing the physical card game, and I am not disappointed at all. The new changes are great and it is to me a very good card game. The possibility to play in coop is much appreciated, as much as the "definitive" edition that makes you pay only for the base game.

I see people complaining about the "cheese", but what do you expect. Just like the physical game, each scenarios has different challenges and mechanics that makes you change your deck in order to adapt and win.

I would definitely recommend it, good job devs :)

I've been enjoying this game quite a bit. It has quickly become my most played digital board/card game on any platform. While the game itself can have a few technical slowdowns, they haven't prevented me from enjoying the game. The visual presentation is top notch and the game provides lots of interesting choices in terms of what cards to play and how to play them.

As a fan of the LotR LCG this is the PERFECT scratch to that itch. It's not an exact replica, but it's pretty close, and the fact you don't have to lug around cards, setup anything, etc. makes this game very playable and fun. If you like games like Hearthstone, but want more story to it, this is a great game for you to purchase. The music, voice acting, stories, and art feel VERY much like LotR and immerse players into the world. I'm impressed!

Shorogyth
Shorogyth

A very good game that works well, both as a single player experience and in coop.

When it comes to coop collectible card games this and Faeria are the only real options on the table and they are both good in their own way.

Secondary aspects:
This game offer some new stories from the LotR universe that fit nicely into lore. The cutscenes are just written text with hand drawn illustrations but the texts are ok and the voice over is significantly above average. The graphics and sounds can be seen in the videos and they do their job well. Some ideas they had about visualising quest are really neat.

Core gameplay:
The game offers quite a few cards that work well but while the range is big enough for the game to be fun (the devs proclaim 300+ cards which is probably true) the range is still not where it should be. In addition it is not the most complex game of its kind (and that keeps it from being excellent) and it suffer from mediocre scenarios (gameplay wise). It will take a while - even for more experienced players - to really understand the cards and the strengths of the "spheres" they are categorized into. This phase is great. Once you get an understand though... well... things do not change much after that. You can try a couple of decks from different "spheres" and mix those but ultimately you will min-max your way into a corner. This phase of discovery and experimentation lasts longer if you play coop, of course, because you can combine two decks.

Conclusion:
The initial phase of discovery lasts all throughout the three main campaigns (if you change your deck and keep experimenting with "spheres"). This means it is an easy recommendation. You will probably not re-play it though, unless you want to play it in coop mode as/with a casual player or with a child who will focus on the polish and lore.

The devs changed and the new devs delivered a free content drop that offered a SIGNIFICANTLY better/interesting/varied/dynamic experience than the three original campaigns. While the original campaigns were servicable and "good enough" (in particular in coop mode where those things tend to matter less) the new mini-campaign is excellent. Hopefully the devs will keep on supporting the game and offer some (paid) DLC on the same level.

Awesome middle earth art, music, lore, story and voice acting!

I’m not normally a big card game fan, but I like the mechanics here. It’s good how your hand persists over several missions. The game has a serious tone, but is pitched more at a Hobbit level of depth rather than Lord of the Rings. Good fun and soothing game; strongly recommended for Tolkien fans.

Unique approach to card games with an emphasis on storytelling and deckbuilding. Love the puzzle-like structure of the levels. Expert can be a real challenge. Hope this game gets more traction so the devs get the incentive to release more content!

Before reading more about this game and purchasing it, I imagined that it was a digital version of the LOTR LCG (which is a pretty good LCG, by the way).

But instead, this game is only based on the physical LCG, and is its own thing, that makes more use of the fact that it is a digital product.

It's a fun singleplayer experience with varied difficulty options, I feel like it's an easy recommendation for people that are fans of both cardgames and LOTR.

One thing I do wish is that it was a bit more boardgame-y in regards to the AI (having every card have rules on them about what their preferred target is and such), instead of trying to have a normal cardgame AI. Still, it's a minor thing and their decision is probably better for most players in the digital media at the end of the day.

Never played this in physical format, but from other comments seems like this ported correctly.

Deckbuilders are not my favorite mechanics (for boardgames), but it is light here, meaning you don’t have to be an expert. Some games say they have theme, this isn’t a game, it just is theme. I got this on sale for $8 I think, which was well worth the novel it is. And I mean novel as in a book, because you spend more time reading the story than actually playing. Or listening to it, and the narrators are top notch. This isn’t just a few throwaway backstory lines, it’s a story.

The gameplay itself is clever enough with meaningful decisions and variety. I see it referred to as a puzzle where the deckbuilding helps you beat the puzzle. Not sure on that yet. I played the entire solo campaigns (3 campaigns of 5 adventures each) with the starter deck you do the tutorial with. I failed the last adventure of the last campaign and then looked up about changing your deck. Did that and won.

I’ll probably do some of the other solo challenge stuff, but after that, not sure how much replayability there is or me. Still, it’s cool and glad I got it.

I have tried several times to start and progress in this game. The basic game play is so distasteful for me that I cant even past the first campaign. Game mechanics feel awkward to me especially with Sauron being able to immediately interact/negate whatever card I play. When compared to something Like Thronebreak: The Witcher Tales the cards and their interactions seem artificial/unnatural in this game...game play doesn't flow. Waste of money and time surely pass on this $20 game.

The interface is horrible cant we move from scrolling through content. Also the new heroes that were added cost way to much two cards usually cost like 2000 but a hero costs 50,000 that's just stupid. Id rather just pay to have the heroes than grind for it. Its a shame this game has fallen but wow that's just ridiculous with the hero costs. Let me know when their discounted until then im out.

well if you played the card game you probably like it. I played card game but hard to find people to play with you this was popular when all the card games came into being from X-GEN after MAGIC the Gather which I played in college created a market for any card games now during post 2000s however Lord of rings appears to have less rules than Magic the Gather since literally every SIX months Magic the gathering add a new system into the game. That being said this GAME doesn't define what these systems do for example BLOCK, AMBUSH, GUARD even with tutorial it doesn't even explain these core concepts since words don't match other games like Magic the gather. So in that regard the PC game fails IMO. If you never played games similar to MAGIC the Gathering you have zero clue. Now even I have and first few hrs I am still trying to figure out what BLOCK does appears to maybe cut your damage in half, threat level extra. The ability to get cards IMO is very broken especially for a single player. You can't easily get points and ability to get cards to progress is very difficult maybe more difficult by not knowing what terms mean. I tried to look for a DICTIONARY built in for last few hrs but never found it until several hours into the game being inside SETTINGS for dictionary. Yet they could literally have a HOVER on card or dictionary instead it's buried three clicks in via settings and allows no method of keeping that up or hot key. You have to close it to go back to the game then repeat again if you find another word on card what does that now mean? But overall doesn't have much in way of cards and yet have secret ways to get cards for each hero which is annoying. The achievements or methods of getting these should be shown in game such as use this ability 25 times then get this and have cards shown. Yet literally you can not even see these cards until they unlock so you don't even know if worth unlocking. Lastly the game lacking additional cards to make your deck powerful such as have different Frodos one of ordinary hero than second as elite which does something else this way Magic Kept their Color specific Plain Heros for their later years. Of course I think lord of rings stopped after few expansions and died. Mechanics were a bit wonky IMO with fate stuff.

This game went a long way from where it started. With the effort the new studio put into it it had became one of the best card games on the steam. The amount of content you get for the price is hard to match. Plays well, the OST is fantastic, campaigns have good story. The only gripe I have with this game is card design, the cards are overloaded with a flamboyant excessive frames, that hide the excellent art and in general is distracting and unnecessary, but that's a very minor complain. I highly recommend this game!

I like the adherence to Tolkien, who is a far greater genius than any of us players, and the creaters are honoring him in all their hard ongoing work. The art is also a draw for me, particularly that of Magali Villaneuve (excuse any misspelling please!), and the fact that the creators don't rely on any one or three artists, even when they are the best! For my play style, and apologies to the master players, I'm inextricably partial to Arwen. Go Green/Blue!

The UI takes a little getting used to, and isnt very intuitive to navigate, and had some scaling issues on my wide screen monitor. However the gameplay interface is great, better then Octn.

A solid adaptation of the Living Card Game from Fantasy Flight Games. It has been polished and features a good level of difficulty and plenty of quality of life bonuses. I like the narration and I think they've done a good job with the art - which comes from various sources. It is just a shame that it is very "mobile" in its design and layout on PC. Additionally, it seems to have come to the end of its life and won't be getting more updates. A real shame.

I have been considering to buy this game for a while, and I bought it now on sale, partly because the roadmap from last year looked promising and I was expecting that most of the milestones had been implemented by now. Content: Limited, allows to build few decks with a little bit of wiggly room. I have finished 1 campaign of 5 scenarios and 1 standalone scenario within 10h and there is few more to do, which is why I would put
4/5 stars

Mechanics: Simple, yet offering some tactical fun. It is not some top end tactical masterpieces, but game does its work well for a relaxed card game.
4/5 stars

UI: Poorly designed, while critical information is available, the one required for clarity is not easily accessible and feels a bit broken in places. For a game build heavily around UI systems this is not good.

Visuals: Good. Presented well by store images

I tried really hard to like this, but:

1. Not enough cards to start, and cards unlock too slow. This means deckbuilding is lame; you're not picking between cards you want, you're picking the obviously great cards and then the "least bad" of the cards you don't want.
2. Difficulty feels random, and relies heavily on "anti-fun" mechanics. Lots of the game/campaign is easy - but the harder missions/encounters rely heavily on random, miserable hosers for the difficulty (discard all your events! all wounded allies die! your key card got countered!). Sometimes these do nothing, and sometimes they're back-breaking, and you have little room to mitigate them (they might be a treachery, an event, a shadow thing, an enemy, who knows). Because of how the game snowballs, a single one of these often decides the game. Who likes this "gotcha" style gameplay in a PvE game?
3. The "surprise events" feel arbitrary/frustrating. Haha, the boss has an 8th form. Haha, the hero you just paid a bunch of resources for decides to leave now. Good job game. You got me. Guess I get to start again with a different deck that's ready for the stupid twist. None of this is fun, none if it adds to the game - just makes the game feel arbitrary and that your choices don't matter.
3. Lots of modes that take a very random game and just pile on more randomness/incomprehensibility. The "Adventure" mode was just an endless string of nonsense. Now your party splits, now this hero disappears, now you're on a blimp, now you're all skeletons. It didn't feel narrative or interesting, it just made strategy feel irrelevant and the result feel random.

Game technically works, and you could build something fun with these pieces. But the designers instead chose to build something that's aggressively miserable to play.

Missions are far to difficult! There is no easy mode.

Nice one! The solo play is quite good. If you are a LOTR and card games fun, do yourself a favor and buy the game!

P.S. The main menu might need a remake.

I do not think people give this game enough credit. I really enjoy this spin on the card game, because it really is a spin off of the physical edition. A lot of people who love the physical game cannot get past that fact, but I really enjoy playing this edition online with my friend. The game is in general a lot simpler than in physical edition, but is still challenging and enjoyable with a lot of variety. I only wish more people liked the game so that the designers could make more content for the game!

Excellent card game.
Very fun, entertaining and lots of replayability.
The quality is top notch, voice acting, music, art, everything is above other games of the genre.

UI is really annoying, you can't even scroll in the main menu and there is no back button. Feels like a mobile game.

I love the narration, the sound effect, soundtrack, the deck building & it inspired me to get the actual Lord of the Rings LCG!
If you like card games & LOTR, I recommend it.

The Shogun of …

- It's a confusingly inferior adaptation of the actual card game. I struggle to see the necessity of outright changing all the cards, removing combos, etc for the sake of this game. The obvious market for this game are fans of the LCG, so why change it at all? And the changes they do make are pretty awful. And even given that they appeared to be trying to rip off Hearthstone's general look, it's a worse version of that game.

- Really needed more development time. The slow rollout of cards, even after all this time (more than 2 years) makes it thin and unfun. The UI could use a little work too.

- Changing the mechanics of the game, really makes it feel unbalanced at times, with "Sauron" doing way more ridiculous things than happens in the LCG.

- At the end of the day, it's not even that terribly fun compared to other games in related genres. I play the LCG twice a month with some friends and it just doesn't compare. In terms of card gards, there's plenty of better ones out there. In terms of Hearthstone-y games, there are way better ones out there. Don't waste your money, just go play any of those again instead. Or go play the LCG one, you'll end up spending more money, but you actually get something for it.

Not exactly like the card game, but close enough to get a fine adventure experience. Looking forward to connecting with other players.

The theme is obviously appealing and the mechanics are based on the board game version. There is a good variety of cards and the heroes are well-represented. I had my share of fun, even though it is a limited PVE game. Great for LOTR fans.

Really bad. You can tell this was a half-assed attempt everywhere you look. Poor graphics, poor gameplay, and *extremely* corner and needless dialogue between heroes on miissions. The story element doesn't even need to be there, but they half-assed it and put something there anyway.

heard the studio is closing, the servers will be up, but how long?, here is my idea, make the game be playable offline, so we can play this game for ever when we want

It's the first card-based game I have played and I love the mechanics of how the game plays, the little animations around the boards and the fun of trying to build your own deck

I will start by saying I have never played the physical card game. However, I have played numerous CCGs in physical form and look at the classic Magic: The Gathering (1997 MicroProse) as the best.

I have a few issues with the UI but they work. I recommend this game fully. The mechanics are balanced with different difficulties throughout the game. There are different game modes with nuanced differences. What it lacks though is depth. Think of it as wider than it is deep.

I've got the physical game as well and it's nice to be able to get a fix when I'm on break at work.
The game is fun and not that hard to pick up. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I brought this game when it was released. It was free back then but I payed to have more advantadges. And oh boy I regret doing so. It's one of the few games that I have on my library that if I could go back in time and prevent myself from purchasing it, I would gladly do so.
I brought it because I own the physical card game irl. So I thought it would be a lot of fun to play this online. Well just imagine my frustation. First of all, it took AGES for the original devs to get past the early acess state. Took a lot of time for it to be even Co-Op. But things were progressing.
What many do not know is that on the original card game, you collect sauron cards and actually one player must play as Sauron against the others. So, I still remember that I joined the twitch stream that original devs were doing and asked when such feature would be avaliable. To my surprise, they answered players won't play as Sauron. Well, why the game had a sauron deck or even showed Sauron cards to collect in the first place? That was a HUGE let down to me and since then I completely stopped playing this. I returned when a new team was announced. Tried this game again... and nothing changed. The current state is that it's pretty much dead, abandoned. So, yeah, can't recommend!

Good points:
+ Sounds nice. Music and sound effects are well done.
+ Looks nice too. The graphics are good. Nothing spectacular but works. A lot of card games, even famous ones, never had such a pleasant look such as this one.
+ Plays nice too. During early times it had a lot of bugs but there was some effort to fix then.
+ A fair system of getting cards without having to pay for them. Wasn't a pay to win during early times. I can't state this after the new dev team arrived though.

Bad points:
- The HUGEST let down: Players can't play as Sauron or use the Sauron deck. Can't even collect Sauron cards. Not at ALL how the original card game works.
- Game was simply abandoned.
- Not free anymore.
- Since day ONE, the addition of new content was extremely slow. Always gave the impression the deves were not very interested on the project.

Score: 0/10 Worth Buying: No. Despite the game current state of being abandoned, which by itself is enough reason from staying away from it , the fact that players can't play or even collect Sauron cards takes away almost all the fun this game had to offer. That would be the real gem that would make it different from the others cards games. It's ashame , a waste really because nowadays the gaming industry simply doesn't have good cards games. This great co-op game was even capable of atracting people that are not into LOTR lore, like me. It had an amazing potential but everything was thrown away due to lack of vision from the devs, especially the original team.
