I pirated this game bout half a lifetime ago. Couldn’t afford it back then, now I could buy it 100 times.

Besides the weird Graphics issue in integrated GFX and APUs, this is a great RTS. Economy focus, supply chains are greater than the armies themselves.

Doesn’t take much to run this game these days. It’s worth play.

Will keep this brief. Started the game, everything visually began to disappoint me. The game play feels clunky and mechanics boring and not unique. Also, the fact that when you take a territory, it demolishes almost everything... doesn't feel satisfying to someone who wants to take a city "intact" instead of taking a barren wasteland upon conquering.

Give it a try yourself but be prepared to refund it if it's not your jam.

I am not new on this game I played it before it came to steam launcher but I do not like one thing when my PC was so low it won't crash or take me out but now when I have a gaming PC I can't even play more than 1H it take me out and no saves nothing just crash I hope they fix this with an update or something BUT THE GAME STILL AMAZING IT WORTH EVERYTHING

i know little to nothing of Strategy or management of economy's , but this was and has been easier to Play, and follow, and i really liked how they explained and Laid out, i bought and "Tried" playing other games similar to this, and wasn't able to follow especially when Ur so new to Playing Games. My first The Settler's Game was the Settlers HD for ipad and i just was in Awe on the Graphics and how all the little People just Ran walked mingled on the Map for me it was a Delight, growing up playing on Atari games yup you could image the difference.

It didn't start after a Steam install due to missing Uplay. After finding Uplay on the web, downloading it, and installed separately from Steam, the game seems to have started fine.

I love the idea of the game but there is a hell of a steep curve between training missions then dropped into who gets 3 stars first mission. Before i've even got anywhere near ready the CPU has two stars done and i admit i might just not get it but after re-doing the same thing over and over and over, the fun soon stops and it begins to get tedious. Good game just not for me, I don't have patience to redo over and over micro management to complete a level, that's just not fun to me.

Would not recommend using Steam to play this game. When things go wrong (and they will) neither Steam nor Ubisoft will be able to help you - they both assume the problem is with the other!

Excllent game, can be played in a very laid back manner or in a more complex manner for a challenge

Serhio
Serhio

I love this game. Crafts are a striking example of the formation of civilization and the transition from a feudal society to a pre-industrial one. This is evidenced by the rather simple in-game ability to hire more professional soldiers, feeding them not with simple bread but with meat dressing, lol

DildoFaggins

Game itself seems ok but it crashes every 2-3 hours and the game doesn't autosave so I am losing my time, sometimes after saving a game when I try to load the save it freezes my computer to the point when nothing helps and I have to restart the computer. I have never seen a game with so many critical bugs

Demian
Demian

Well, many people seem to have problems with crashes. Thanks to god I don't experience them. But my screen freezes for 10 seconds in a white blank page when tabbing.

Another bug is, that after a certain point, the higher residences stop producing. I have to switch between the meal options 2-3 times so the building starts to produce again.

Also the victory-points realy suck. It was never the content of a Settlers game that you have to achieve VPs. And it ruines the game. The feeling of The Settlers is lost.
Also the variety of goods is a bit low. Actually it is very low. Also the deepness, the complexity is very shallow. i.e. you can gather coal, transform it to gold and therefore to units or tools. But that's it. This 3-step economy is not realy challenging.
As soon as you have a clue about which 10 buildings you need to build first the game has no challenge anymore. The only thing you need is time.

For the next version of this game, I hope the developers put a bit more content into the game. A more interesting AI, more maps or even a map editor. Include the community - best example are Paradox games. Make the next version a bit more towards open world. Just a few ideas.

Thumb down because Ubisoft is removing online services in old games. That is an unknown precedent and it is very dangerous and harmfull for us, consumers.

I was complaining to a friend about how Cities Skylines lacked any "soul", even after installing 724 mods. I really wanted a city builder game that oozes character and his recommendation was The Settlers, a franchise I always heard about but never had taken that final step into.

The first ten hours in the campaign where you learn the mechanics, which is practically a mix of tutorial and prologue is amazing. I felt like I could put hundreds of hours into this game as I watched my blobby peasants walk about, tending to their fields. I was completing missions around one and a half hours, which could have taken fifteen minutes if I went straight for the objective, planning streets, trying to establish optimised production lines and just watching my villagers roam. I thought that I finally found the game I have been looking for so long.

This soon changed when the game introduced victory points. I no longer had time to enjoy the atmosphere, I had to get over to the finish line before my rival did. Production lines turned sloppy, street planning flew right out the window and if I wanted to progress in the campaign I had to do nothing but rush the production of acolytes, which are no different than having an instant win button. I never imagined that I could feel hurt while playing a city builder but The Settlers 7 managed to accomplish this somehow.

Incidentally, I have to say that I hate timed missions. I hate them even more than underwater levels. Timed missions just force the player into doing a thing in a very limited way, which completely takes any incentive away from the player. The victory points system in this game is just a glorified series of timed missions, which is directly at odds with the game's relaxed, easy going nature. Watching your builders absentmindedly carry a log and a stone to build another lodge that will probably get you the last victory point to win the mission becomes no longer an enjoyable experience but an infuriating one.

I have to admit, one of the best strategy games I have ever played, Rise of Nations, also had timed missions in its campaign but the challenges and starting conditions were varied enough and the underlying design made sense to why there was a time limit. If victory conditions were more focused, for example "just deliver x amount of y to the port before your rival", The Settlers 7 could have been at least a tolerable experience, even with its timer, but the game asks you to do so many different things at the same time that the joy fleets away.

Even then, I cannot say that this is a bad game, even though I had to contact Ubisoft support because the game was not registering on my Uplay account (solution: run Steam in administrator mode for the first time that you launch the game). This is just such a missed opportunity for me and the obvious clash between artistic direction and gameplay mechanics has turned into something that I could no longer dismiss. I believe if I had a friend to play this together with, just building cities, exploiting resources (and peasants), the game would have been much better.

I hope that The Settlers 8 (if and when it is released) will not have such a glaring personality disorder. The Settlers 7, at the very least, convinced me to give it a try.

TL;DR If you liked Settlers 1,2,3,4 - don't hesitate, buy this one as well, you will like it.

Surprisingly good game. I guess most of bad reviews came from time when it was protected with annoying DRM and was full of technical bugs. But this is no more- after 25h of game I experienced only one time when I ended on desktop.

So this is game is Setlers 2/3 on steroids. From original series we got complex economy, long chains of production and road building. What is new? Game is way more dynamic. Map is divided by sectors and conquering neutral ones is way easier than attacking these that are in possesion of another player. Also resources and space are limited so to win we need to continously expand our kingdom. First couple of missions are slow and we don't need to rush but after 8 or 9 missions it is a must.
So gameplay is not as relaxing as Settlers 1,2,3,4 but is this bad? I like the fact that missions takes now 1-2h instead of half day. To win we need to gather victory points instead of destroying enemy so we have various ways to win on the same map. Of course destorying enemy sectors is still one of possible ways :D
This reminds me board game "Catan" where we got points for having most cities, longest road, most knights etc. Here is the same, we receive points for biggest city, most territoties conquiered, most technologies, most amount of prestige. In most maps there are also quests to fulfill which gives vicotry points. Quests like defeat bandits, send resources or units etc.
Generally it is clear that gameplay was designed for multiplayer but I also had a lot of fun playing single player campaign.

In times of causualisation and simplifcation this game stands in oposition and require a lot from the player. But economy is logical, introduced slowly by training levels, mechanics works well and everything is very well designed. Additionally even in 2021 this cartoon like graphic still looks very nice!

Generally IMHO 8/10 game and currently one of the best dynamic city builders.

Btw: there is a story but is so shallowm childlish and cliche that it is not worth to mention. But this game is good to play for gameplay itself.

There are better games and they sell cheaper. Even the early access games work better than this and you can feel the love they put in to project. Awful game. I don't see how they went from amazing games like Settlers IV and HOK to this crap. It just feels like some shitty phone game ad it's not as immersive. Not a fan of the new buildings, layouts and everything else to be honest. The battle system is shit. They could literally just add a new faction to IV and I'd rather spend money playing that again.
Don't waste your cash even if it is only a little.

"Constant online connection for single player game" when being online can randomly crash and/or lock up the game and you don't have the option to "go offline" is everything that is wrong with the current industry. I hated it when EA did it, and I hate it when Ubisoft does. I know it's a form of DRM but once you activate a game, it's just penalising honest players. Eff off with that nonsense, especially when THEIR technical issues mean you cannot play the game you "bought the licence" to play.

At least EA's Origin has an autologin function! At the time of this review, I have 67 minutes of playtime. 24 minutes of that has been retyping my damned password every time I attempt to play. I'm not even exaggerating.

I never play the Settlers game before, but TS7 is my favorite so far, Didn't encounter any bug glitch yet, the game run pretty smooth, but the game don't have vsync option so I have to use the Nvidia vsync (which is better anyway). Also the main reason that I choose TS7 instead of other TS game because TS7 has gun.

You gonna like this game if:

- You like flintlock weapon/gun
- Small scale auto battle, TS7 doesn't have a huge battle with hundred of troops like other The Settlers game, instead, it has a decent amount of troop but the battle animation looks better than other TS game. Also the reason I like the combat in TS7 than other TS game is because in other TS game, you have to order a bunch of troops just to attack a specific enemy unit, and I don't like to micro control all my troops when they spread out a whole map just because they are chasing some lone enemy. In TS7, your troop will encounter the enemy troop on the road and the battle will happens there.
- Cartoon style character, yep.

While graphics looks nice (minus irritating zoom behavior), gameplay is significantly below Settlers II. Less goods, less tools, premade roads, no naval travel, premade and prepositioned military isntalations. There are some novelties like trade, research and more troops options, but they are a drop in the bucket, prestige system in particular seems harmfull to gameplay.

There was an initial problem which prevented the game from loading: UPlay missing. On emailing Ubisoft they responded very quickly overnight and provided the solution which I implemented.
The game runs perfectly so far (7h) and the first campaign is an excellent tutorial for the gameplay/strategy.

Very good value for money although the Multiplayer option is no longer supported.

Recommended for single vs AI play.

After many hours played and numerous crashes, I'll share a few details. This series is amazing, (minus 5 and 6, seriously, what were you guys thinking? Can I have my money back?) After first installing, my game was constantly crashing (without an error.) After attempting to use support, and finding that they needed the MSINFO file in a format that my Win11 computer will not produce, I made a few changes and the game is playable. I no longer run it in 1080, (which you'll read must be adjusted manually via the options.ini file) and have disabled "full screen optimization". I do not run my browser (Microsoft Edge) in the background and I've minimized my tabbing out. I don't know what fixed it, or if its just a fluke but my game has been playable for a couple days. The Settlers is a gem when it's working, but buyer beware.

Dev't team. The logistics is still a bit broken, when you have a royal slaughterhouse and fancy food is the foundation of your economy, farmers should not be the last people to receive it.

After replaying the original Settlers, I thought I'd check out how the franchise has been getting on since...

Negatives:
- Requires ubisoft login on every load... and it doesn't remember your password
- Campaign has long cinematic and dialogue sections that interupt gameplay (and aren't that interesting)
- Map is divided up into regions to be conquered, which already have roads, buildings, and mines... which may the game feel more like 'conquerors' than 'settlers'.

Positives:
- Most of what made the original game good is still there
- The research, religion, and trade mechanics are well-developed, and sit alongside the warfare mechanic nicely
- It looks pretty decent, although perhaps unnecessarily resource intensive

If you want a fresh take on Settlers, this isn't too bad. I can't quite justify giving it a thumbs up though.

I have a few thousand hours of playing The Settlers 1 and 2. The others not so much until this one. After 13 hours I think I am giving up on this. While the first two iterations were fun - seven is not. I'm sure it's my own incompetence but I can't get anything to work. After expanding once or twice nothing gets done. Building a new building takes half an hour despite hardly anything else going on. Production buildings won't produce despite a massive surplus of goods. And then I win with some victory points before I can even get my barracks to produce a single unit.

I assumed it was some sort of transportation issue with not enough warehouses or something but even with up to 6 per area nothing gets moved to the production buildings. I am sure I'm doing something wrong but I cannot figure it out either in-game or with Google. So I give up. I'm not saying you won't like this game but I cannot recommend it after my experience.

Really fun game, but it is quite challenging at times.
