Very complete and balanced game, with good lenght and amazing ambientation. Great fun, you can play with friends online or in local coop. Perfect for fans of the saga.No DLC, no battle pass, no lootboxes.
You pay for a game, and get a full game. A true rarity in this day and age.
It's all about managing penalties which gets tedious really fast.
On a board game I would remove more than half of the penalty cards.
Sadly you can't do this with the digital version.
Although this is my only gripe, I can't recommend.
not my genre but as a regular board game player, this title has poorly constructed mechanics and round system.
I played solo and with friends - both cases the game felt slow and boring.
Good semi-competitive board game remade into PC version. Obviously it's better to play with friends, but you can play against bots if that's your thing.
If you like board games, go for it. Even more so if you like Witcher universe. It comes with original gwent music!
This is a game with a lot of interesting mechanics, but overall falls flat in pacing and interaction. Most players sit idle during the game, waiting for other players to take their turns, which can be long.
There's little in the way of interaction with the other players. Most card effects are automatic and affect the whole board, the local region, or uncommonly some other player. There's no ability to control how most of this works, thus there is little ability to influence the outcome of another person. Each player is essentially playing a serialized solo game.
Additionally there appears to be a significant aspect of luck in card draw, which may not be bad, but hinders a lot of the strategic decisions.
The UI overall is pretty and functional, but has some weak points. Much of the other player's activities, like fighting, are not visible. During card selection you cannot view the map, which is important to decide which cards you want.
Overall, the Witcher is a long, underdeveloped game.
This game is very amazing!!! I am so glad to be able to play this game!!!
Incredibly fun to play with friends. If you're a fan of the Witcher universe but miss the board game feel during the period of social distancing. :D

I own the physical board game, which is pretty enjoyable to play. Having seen this on sale, I decided to buy it. Though I would like to give it a good review as I would the physical board game, I can't, considering it has a serious problems.
I only have a few hours on record because I attempted to play about seven games, all of which were ended short because of random disconnects or game freezes. I don't have this problem on other games. Unfortunately, this game does not give you the option to reconnect, which I would argue is maybe the most important feature for a lengthy digital board game.
At least in my case, the game cannot be played. It's real shame. The game has been out for a while, so it seems like they have just decided it isn't worth it to implement a reconnect feature.
If you think you'll like the game, buy the physical one. It's a ton of fun. You should know that it focuses a lot on solo play, though. The game feels more like a race between friends than a PvP competition. You can make a few decisions to hinder other players, but they are far and few between and will most likely happen at random, making it nearly impossible to plan a few turns ahead.
What an utter disappointment. RNG from utter hell. No chance to gain any VP what so facking ever. Your opponents have a VP lead by 20+ after 15 turns or so. Every quest you embark on is a failure. You gain wounds on EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE! What the fack is this?!? This is Geralt! Does he always lose? I don’t think so! Stupid game! Ugly map. Too much clutter. Nonsensical gameplay. Pass on this one.
Lore-Friendly & Fun Of Its Own Merits // Recommended if you have friends to play with
+ Each of the four playable characters enjoy a few unique sub-rules to help differentiate between them
+ Essentially a virtual board game, & a solid, entertaining one at that
+ Overall appears to be very lore-friendly & a faithful adaptation
+/- Rules have a lot of depth & therefore one has to prepare for a fairly moderate learning curve
- Feels a bit flat visually speaking, even considering the design intent
- Multiplayer is dead & I wasn't able to find a game with the game's built-in matchmaker

Very complete and balanced game, with good lenght and amazing ambientation. Great fun, you can play with friends online or in local coop. Perfect for fans of the saga.
A solid tabletop game experience that never gets old.
If you get it on sale, you're getting a great game, and a full game at that.
No DLC, no battle pass, no lootboxes.
You pay for a game, and get a full game. A true rarity in this day and age. Go for it!
Why pollute the good Witcher name with these card-game crap!
I didn't enjoy it. A lot of complexity but very little interest. I dislike board games where there are too many variables (and too much D6 rolling) to actually figure out a strategy. Many of the mechanics here (exchange rates on lead tokens, asymmetric characters, too many action types, overly complicated event cards, "side quests" of uncertain EV, etc) felt convoluted, arduous, meaningless and frankly boring.
Interesting board game mechanics
I like the game for what it is. It is simple, story-telling entertainment in board game skin without much interaction. It's perfect for an evening after a long day of work. You can easily waste several hours with it. But where can I save a game? Can I save a game? I wanted to spread out a two-player game over two evenings, but apparently that's not an option?
And now it crashed and we had to start over! A game of this length should definitely have a save game option
If one of your players would drop out due to a networking error they can never return until you've restarted the game.
I find it very annoying that the sound / video settings can't be adjusted while I'm playing the game. This combined with the weird menu this game has and the lack of party control when hosting the game (you apparently can't invite people back if they drop out due to an error) makes me wonder which way does CD-Projekt RED going?
And the peculiar thing is this my friends:
The game we played on that fateful night it didn't actually was
Anything like this game.
This is just a tribute! You gotta believe it!
And I wish you were there! Just a matter of opinion.
Ah, fuck! Good God, God lovin',
So surprised to find you can't stop it.
All right! All right!
If you love the physical board game you will enjoy this. Keeps track of stats for you, so a bit better in my opinion.
This is a thumbs up from me. I am a massive fan of the Witcher universe, though haven't played the physical board game. This game sticks true to the lore, is entertaining albeit tricky to master with some tutorials being rather vague on certain aspects, but a few games in offline mode allows you to pick it up fairly quickly.
Pros -
• Lore friendly, beautifully crafted world with detailed text that could be found in the standard games (particularly 1).
• Exceptionally priced when on sale, fjavascript:void(0);or the 11 hours I have on record.
• Multiple ways on playing with different styles introduced with the four characters.
Cons -
• Multiplayer can be temperamental, with lobby disconnects and lack of reconnecting.
• Lack of saving capability.
• Vague tutorials that make you play to learn.
Dispite all the cons this is a great game, I mostly play on offline mode anyway so don't have an issue with multiplayer. Saving isn't an issue for me as you can control the length of the game. 7.5/10
really wanted to like this game but just could not get into it :(
Too many arbitrary resources to manage for my tastes, at least as a digital version (it might be more manageable with the physical game)
[h1]The Witcher Adventure Game is a faithful (perhaps too faithful) translation of a mildly fun tabletop experience saddled with simplistic, repetitive objectives. Learning the strategies behind playing each of the four heroes is where the fun lies, though it often feels like you’re just playing alongside other players - not against them. It doesn’t try to be more than a digital board game, either, so if you’re hoping for outrageous battle scenes and visual splendor, it’s best to reach out for The Witcher 3.
Worst game I've ever played on steam. This game doesn't support any way to resume the match. We were 2-3 hours into a match and suddenly all 4 players (connected from different locations) got an error message that said "disconnected" and that was that. No way to resume the match. Luckily this didn't happen 5 hours into the match.
Well, some bugs here and there.
The worst of all, is that we were playing an online game and after 2 hours of game, we all got a message saying "Game disconnected", and there is no resume option available. Not nice at all.
Fun experience either solo or with friends. Just count on the fact that you can't play online, finding a match is impossible.
I spent hours playing without knowing what I was doing. Not every CD Projekt Red game is good.
Pros:
* Witcher theme
Cons:
* Overly complicated and badly explained
* Unimpressive visuals
One of the best barod game adaptation!
Perfect rendition of the board game. Only one freeze glitch in over 2 hours of play, requiring a reload of the save game. I recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the Witcher video game, or adventure board games. Actually, I recommend this over the physical game if you play solo or with others in your home.
I lvoe the witcher series... and really wanted to like this game, but it is brutal to the point of being frustrating... each action you take results in a 70% chance of you being punished, eventually you get bogged down so much by the punishment that you can no longer play. It feels arbitrary, brutal, and down right petty. Tutorial is lacking (a 5 min video your good right?) the interface is clunky, all in all its a disappointment.
Constantly disconnects. Unable to complete even the shortest game.
Probably more fun with friends, but unfortunately we were never able to get the multiplayer to work. Even in offline mode, after watching the tutorial videos, I still find the game extremely random and don't understand all the aspects of the game.
fairly wellbalanced, few bugs, none too gamebreaking. I'd say fairly priced
Terrible game... Overly complicated, underly fun. Don't waste you time...
Big fan of the Witcher series, I had to get my hands on this game but I was sadly a bit disappointed. While it is no Gwent, The Witcher Adventure Game is an accurate translation of a tabletop experience. What could have been a fun game was saddled with simplistic and repetitive objectives, and to make the whole thing worse it is heavily reliant on RNG.
While the art style is great and learning the strategies behind playing each of the four heroes is fun, I hate pretty much the rest of the actual game design, which is incredibly poorly thought out.
For example, there is zero incentive to do any of the side quests. The game ends immediately when you finish X number of main quests, so why bother with the side quests? If you rush the main quests (which are more lead/point efficient anyway) before anyone else does, you win. That's it. No side quests needed.
I have no problem with how hard or punishing a game is if it's consistent, but this game is probably the least consistent game I've played in a long time. This game has off the charts levels of randomness: one player can breeze their way through with zero effort or obstacles, while another can get completely screwed by the foul fates, investigation cards, delays and monsters. Close games do not exist and player decisions are not important since you either end up winning hollow victories or spend the entire game getting screwed over by bad draws and RNG.
If you are a fan of the franchise, by all means, consider adding this game to your collection, as it will let you slide into the shoes of some of your favorite characters. For all others, look elsewhere for your adventuring and competitive needs.
Pretty fun, but has a strong learning curve. I recommend playing the shortest mode (10-20 minutes) until you get the hang of the rules.
Pleasant board game if you have ppl to play with.
Possibly fun to play against others, but the tutorial is rubbish, it takes a couple of hours of play to figure out what the hell is going on, and Geralt is the worst character. Interesting idea, maybe worth having on actual tabletop but save your money, sadly it's just a bit naff.
a really decent strategy game in the witcher universe
A nice and decent Board Game based in the Witcher-Universe.
Each of the four character has it's own mechanics, which makes the game quite diversified.
Even 9,99 Euros are a fair price. However, I'd wait for a sale (I got it for 99 Cents).
I really like both the original board game and this digital version. The AI and (digital) mechanics could be improved, but it's ok.. Music, gameplay and graphics are great.
Just don't expect to play online - it's buggy, drops and pretty much nobody is playing, so waiting in lobby is quite pointless, which is pity
wow yeah, what a game. me and 2 other witcher fanboys played for 3 hours. may be hard to get at first, but man is it worth it. :gwent_gg:
Game is buggy, specifically with the winning condition, it doesn't give everyone one more turn once the 3rd quest is completed. Pls Fix. Make it really annoying
A decent group game. a bit slow and frustrating at times but enjoyable for a board game in the Witcher setting.
An excellent adaptation of board game.
Unfortunately, game is forgotten by developers, so don't hope for any future dlc's or content.
For anyone considering buying it: view videos of gameplay!
There is ppl who likes this game and who says its trash, there is no in between.
If you think you will play it just for more story and facts about Witcher story - better watch gameplay videos first. YES this have some nice hints, links to main Witcher story and etc. but as i mentioned you might hate the game more than be willing to know more on story.
Overall i would say its quite nicely built board game.
What i would add to this game - is way more detailed tutorial. Maybe its just for me cuz it was first board game for me but i got confused way too many times at start.
Verdict: if after watching some videos of gameplay you are sure that you will enjoy such type of game definitely get it.
Picked this up for dirt cheap as part of a sale and very glad I did. A very chill board game set in a great universe with popular characters and interesting artwork. Each character has unique skills and play styles so there's a lot to learn which keeps it engaging. Worth the £6.99 it's currently available for but if you manage to get it on sale then it's a steal.
Didn't bother to learn to play went into the game and got owned by the pc. Will do that again just because i love the Witcher universe.
Nice and fun, even better with friends!
Just an amazing game, great music and atmosphere. if you like the witcher universe and medieval board games you must have it
I mean, The Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. Witcher 2 and Witcher 1 are great too alongside with Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.
I really love the Witcher series and Witcher universe. At first Witcher universe, didn't seem entirely compatible with a board game. But hey, who would have ever thought CD Projekt RED would make a great board game!
It's a great board game and if you love the Witcher Universe and the Witcher series, which I'm a die hard Witcher fan, you should definitely get this game.
( I got it with %80 discount. So it's definitely worth the money and the time. )
bought for 1,5 EUR, not bad but definitely not worth full price
Alright, so I really wanted to like this game but sadly, when I tried it with a friend it just did everything in it's power to make us dislike it as much as humanly possible.
The game looked really cool and I like these bordgames, so we gave it a try.
It starts with the "tutorial", which is a short (not even 2 minute long video) with what the developer thought was the main rules. Unfortunately, said video does not explain ANYTHING at all and leaves you more confused than you where when you opened the game in the first place. Then, when you start a game, everything is unclear. The not-really.-there tutorial would not have been missed as much, if the game cared to explain certain things. But no, neither tutorial nor in-game tips, notes etc were able to tell how the game is meant to be played or what certain things even are.
What is the war path? What significance do bronze/ silver/ skull symbols have on the "battle field"?
It took my friend and me almost an hour to complete the first mission (of three I think), when the game told us it should be 40-70 minutes for two players. Yes, we took a bit longer because we were majorly confused but even without this initial confusion it took us ages to complete any missions.
At one point we had so many wounds (they "block" certain actions you can choose when it's your turn) and foul fates (you have to take a foul fate card every time you use the action the doom thing hovers over, which then messes with you even more). The whole thing just felt unfair and wasn't fun in any way, shape or form.
I'm gonna request a refund for this one, as even the 1 or 2 bucks I payed are WAY TOO MUCH for something like this.
Lucía likes this game! APPROVED
Great for The Witcher fans. But not those who will play it just because they have seen the netflix show YOU ARE NOT REAL FANS
A pretty good board game to be honest even better if you have people to play it with just dont expect any action its literally a digital board game.
Very playable, good features, nice sounds :)
nice to play in single player, even better with friends :)
The game runs great and its always fun for people who love the witcher series. Its relatively affordable too so theres that. :)
useless as a social boardgame - no continue, no reconnect
I liked this one when I played it a grand total of 2 times.
Too much random factor and the game is about basically who sucks bigger in a continus row of sucking :D
It could be a good game otherwise
its cool, there are inherit flaws with the board game itself, but the digital version has nothing on it.
it would be better to find people to play online, but thats impossible nowadays.
still, its a cool little board game.
I absolutely love this game, even though it can be annoying at times. Once you get the hang of it (only takes a couple of games to get it down) than it can be loads of fun.
I love the fact that you can play by yourself against the AI. Unlike some AIs, these seem to be quite realistic and don't seem to make bonehead moves. So it doesn't make it incredibly easy to win.
It's worth giving it a try as a tabletop.
This would be a fun mobile game...but its not worth $
The tabletop dream.
+Awesome balance between randomness and mechanics' exploits
+Immersible setting, atmosphere, graphics and musics
+There is still place to evolve the game in theory (trains imagination)
+Lowest price ever for such a quality
Only pluses found.
Tried to play it after a while, didn't work anymore, didn't respond to the commands via
mouse.
Good game play, good graphics, good music, good graphics, good game
This game is a masterpiece no other game will come close. well played.
Wow! Was not expecting this game to fulfill my innate human desires in such a fantastic way! I find almost orgasmic pleasure just by looking at Yarpen and his mighty band of dwarves. I simply cannot reccommend this diamond in the rough with a stellar and overflowing player base!
20/10 FANTASTIC!!!!!
never have I ever been one of the only people playing a game, one day, today me and the boys were playing a game. for gits and shiggles i checked how many people were playing right now and it was four... four... we had four people in our game. we were the only people playing. how can I not recommend this game. changed my life, changed my world.
its fun, better with friends, would be better if more people played.
In many ways, it is faster than the physical board game, so the suffering is faster, but the game is very random, just picking the right cards (from randomised pool) and then go around the map and roll (randomised) and maybe use some re-rolls or extra bonuses to get your dice result. Nothing too strategic, logical or hard.
If you like moderately complex board games and the witcher you will love this game!
Best if you have have some friends to play with though as the AI is very dumb.
I think it's fine. Maybe not 10 bucks... maybe 5, but it's a fun little game.
Love this game. Easy to play + doesn't need much from your PC
Also awesome graphics and atmosphere.
P.S. Playing as Geralt is a 90% win
This board game is only interesting in the first five hours, then it becomes quite repetitive as it lacks depth.
Achievements requires a lot of grinding.
Multiplayer is very dead.
Bloated and random. A shame given the possibilities
Because of the theme and the fact that its an adventure board game, I really wanted to like this, but it's a bad game. Any game where you can get into a loop of getting killed, healed, then to be killed again in the same turn, has some serious balance issues. I tend to like randomness, but this game is just completely broken. Do not waste your time.
Nice board game with some clever dynamics. Having played Witcher 2 & 3 I hunger for more adventure in the Witcher world, and this game does help feed that hunger and make sure the knowledge of that rich world does not go stale.
If you are a fan of witcher games and you like board games, then this is a game for you. Even better if you play it with friends!
The game mechanics and visuals are very good, no bugs encountered.
4 different characters to choose, each with his skills.
Only drawback is that Geralt of Rivia is the most powerful and Dandelion the weakest (especially for the AI).
